Hmm, very strong accent. Never collects homework. Will have 4 tests and 4 quizzes. Drops lowest test and quiz grade.. His tests get harder and harder as class progresses. If you?re not GREAT in math, do not take him.
His accent's not that bad. His tests can be difficult if you don't study, but he is flexible and allows make-ups for quizzes. He makes lots of use of the SmartBoard and saves all his notes. True, he likes to joke around and mess with people's minds, but for someone like me (who always thought they sucked at math), he made class pretty decent.
his accent is strong. will work with you.
The class is hard, and will get harder throughout the term. But he makes it to where the class can be easy. If you study and pay attention you'll do fine on his tests especially since he gives you problems almost exactly the same about a week before. Walks around during test, a little annoying, but he gives hints.
This man has the craziest sense of humor. His tests can be difficult. Do the homework, pay attention in class, and you can make a good grade. He gives hints during the tests. Overall, the class is tough, but studying and asking questions can help out a lot.
I never did the homework so I got like 10 points off every test and only came to class once a week or so, and still got an A, my roommate who took the class with me and isn't as good as math got an A as well, if you aren't great at math just go to class and do the homework, and you should come out with a good grade.
A very good teacher, I've learned a lot and he explain things very clearly and easy to understand. everyone take him!
great teacher, i've learned a lot!
He was very hard to understand. He stands over you when you are taking a test. He is constantly saying that you will fail the tests and he thinks that people are stupid if they dont know what he is talking about. In other words, he makes you feel dumb if you do not know everything there is to know about math. I
Very good teacher, very interested in student's success. I had been out of math for a while, but due to his teaching I was able to make a B. Probably would have done better if I'd always done the homework ahead of time. Some complained about his accent, but he uses the white board and saves all notes online.
Not a good teacher at all. I highly, highly do not recommend him. He can be rude and is very hard to understand. He sometimes switches between french and english. And when he has just finished racing through a problem, he will say "This is very easy" and move on. DO NOT TAKE HIM.
he was a great prof. i got 100% on his first test. class is easy and his tests are easy he overlooks careless mistakes and still gives you full credit on the questions. hes a little hard to understand but overall a good teacher.
He was hard to understand and went very quick throughout lessons. If you are not good at math I would not advise taking him at all!
He is a good guy but the class is not easy. He does move rather quickly but is over all a good teacher. If you plan on skipping class don't take him. You need to be there for the material unless you are ridiculously good at math.
His french accent makes his class hilarious. Take good notes, ask questions, do the 80% of the homework [sometimes they count as 10-20 points on the actual test]. Work out some problems before you take the test to get into that "math-mode." GO TO THE REVIEW SECTIONS! He'll tell you what's on the test. Don't skip class!
awesome
I really liked taking this class. It was very helpful. I ended up making an A. His tests are fairly easy if you pay attention in class. I wouldn't recommend skipping class, because so much is covered in one class period. I would recommend taking him!!
He seems a little mean at first, but people quickly realize he is a pretty nice man. Use the notes he saves online, and study well. He does tend to move fast, but it's not too difficult. Unless your really bad at math I would recommend him!
He is an awesome teacher! HE might seem diffucult at first but its not that bad. Just pay attention and all his notes are online! But you still should attend class because you learn so much in one class period. His tests are not that bad if you study! Also, do your homework he adds a lot of points on your test!
This class was a bit difficult. He is an okay teacher. He covers the material very fast.
He is a great professor.I've learned alot.Very nice personality.I like him.
Dr. Bobga is a great teacher. He does cover the class material quickly, but if you pay attention and do your homework you'll do well. He's very nice and is willing to help. He's kind of funny too!
Dr. Bobga was an execellent teacher! I trippled my Compass score after attending his class.
Prof. Bobga is the only teacher that I have ever had to actually make learning Math fun! He relates it to current day life & is extremely funny! You will love going to his class everyday! He made math easy for me & that's saying something coming from someone who has never gotten math. If I needed another Math class I wouldn't take anyone but him.
Best Math Teacher I've Ever Had, Maybe The Best Overall Even. Highly Recommend His Class. Super Easy.
Powerpoint out of date and often made up problems off the top of his head instead of having them all prepared. This made material more confusing than it should have been. Easy grader, but you will have to google to best understand the material.
Awesome teacher!! His accent is a little tricky at first, but easy to get past. You dont use ur book in class but u need it for ur homework. Do the homework, pay attention, and study. You will get an A if you try!!! Loved him, and would take him again.
great teacher, his accent intimidated me at first but i understood it more as i went along. very helpful and does whatever he can to make the class understandable. study and do the homework and you will do fine
I made straight C's in math in high school, but I managed a high A after taking Bobga's class. His accent is difficult to understand, but he's a great teacher, and very helpful. He's willing to give full credit on some of the questions on tests if you care enough to ask for help. If you're terrible at math, TAKE HIM.
Best math teacher I've ever had, he makes sure you understand everything and is very good at it. His analogies are funny too haha :) 4 test - drops your lowest one and in each test he gives you +10 or +15 (depending on mood) on every test if you attempt the hw. I made an A, really easy and funny, great professor :)
He is a good teacher. Attend class and do the homework if you want to do well on his tests! His accent can be a little difficult to get used to, but he is very nice. I would take a class with him again.
I feel like he a really great teacher his test have so trick but he does everything he can to help from doing a study guide to giving extra credit for doing the homework and give curve his test. Is really hard to fail his classes. I feel is the person fault if they fail his classes.
honestly, its your fault if u even got a B in his class. He helps the student with everything. He literally spent a whole class period going over test hour 45 mins... gives extra credit on tests if you do homework and he curves aswell. really hard to fail or even get a B in his class.
He is an AMAZING teacher. Math has always been my worst subject, however Professor Bobga explained it in a way I almost understood (and for me, almost is a big deal). He gives extra credit for attempting the homework and is always willing to help. I highly recommend him!
He gave homework and took it up before the tests but didn't grade it for accuracy. His tests were hard but he told us they were super easy. Thank goodness for the math lab or I'd be completely lost. I'm really bad at math so I'm just glad I passed with a C.
For anyone thinking of taking the class, beware. The tests are horrendous. He doesn't make it clear that the homework is quite irrelevant as the tests are 95% based on his Smartboard notes. The homework is just a filler and counts for a small portion of the test grade.
his tests are way too hard.... even with the 10 extra bonus points for doing homeworks I still failed his tests.
At first I wasn't sure about this professor because of his accent, but as the semester progressed it was easy to understand him. He's very helpful especially during tests & if you do the homework he'll add points to it.
Dr. Bogba has an African accent and was hard to follow at first. After a few classes I started to understand him and he was a very good teacher. He wants to make sure everyone is getting it and if you ask questions, he will not move on until you understand the material. His tests are hard if you so not do all homework. I would take him over again.
Professor Bobga at first can seem extremely intimidating because of things like his accent but he is the best math teacher/professor I've ever had. He does expect you to do the homework so that you make sure you understand the material. As long as you do the homework, come to class and show him that you try then you will do fine in his class.
He is a great teacher his first test is hard so study! He helps you with anything you need! even during the test! he recognizes hard work in students and rewards for such effort. his attendance isn't mandatory but the only way to learn is to be there... I will deff have him again!
What can I say about Bobga?? He's awesome! Has an accent but I got 99% of what he was saying. He is SO fair with tests. Gave extra credit on tests for doing HW. Tests were mainly out of his SmartBoard files. Very sweet guy with a love of teaching. Do not be afraid to ask questions.
Great teacher. Don't take him if you are actually good at math because he takes forever explaining simple stuff. Kind of rude. Other then that he's not bad
Great teacher! Buy the book, you need it for homework. Use the homework as a review one week before the test. There are 4 tests and a final. Strong African accent but it's easy to get used to. He will let you make up a test if you talk to him before hand. All the notes are on the Shared Class Files. Very nice and is easy to ask questions to.
Hands down the best in the math department. He isn't easy but if you put in the effort, you will get a good grade. He will go out of his way to help you if you need it.
He is my favorite teacher yet! He gives extra credit points if you don't pass your not trying. It's an easy A! Make sure you do your homework! That's the key!
Probably one of the best math teachers I've had. He really wants you to do good and will go out of the way to guide you for his tests. I wish he taught Calc II.
Dr. Bobga will be able to answer most math questions you have over the material. He knows his subject extremely well, and will be able to explain complicated mathematics in a relatively simple way. He is a great guy, sorta funny, and doesn't take class too seriously, as long as youre respectful. The only grades are tests, and there are 4 of them
Really great and easy teacher! He explains everything throughly so that you won't be confused. He gives 4 test and gives you the choice to do your homework or not but if you do you receive 10 points extra credit on your test(very helpful)! Doing the homework helps out with the test because the problems are very similar.
Dr. Bobga is a very good lecturer, and I learned a lot in his class. He is very big on attendance and assigns homework that is due on the day of the test for extra credit. He will drop your lowest test grade and 50200 points on your final are a VERY EASY project. Show up to class and ask for help when you need it, and you'll get an A.
Professor Bobga is great... He has an accent but he isn't hard to understand at all. He's very good at teaching math in a way that's easy to remember; and his tests are very similar to the examples he gives during lectures. Do not argue with him over a test grade, because he has more than likely given you more points than you actually deserved.
Really great teacher, gives a ton of extra credit and is a lenient grader. The tests are straight from his notes and very straight forward. The lowest test grade I made was a 97 and I'm horrible at math. If you have to take precal take him, I highly recommend for the summer semester it was less material.
Great experience. He makes the class easy, of course some work is needed to pass it. Gives extra points for homework. Very clear in his lectures. Very dedicated to teaching.
Homework is optional but if you do it he gives you extra credit on tests. Usually gives 7 points but if you got a 60 on the test and did your homework he gives 10 extra credit points instead of 7. Gives hints for all the questions on the test on the day of the test.
Dr. Bobga is wonderful!!! I took him for remedial algebra and for college algebra. He truly cares about his students. His door was always open and if you needed help or didn't understand something he was always willing to help. I would totally take him again if I could. He made math understandable for me for the 1st time in my life! :) Thank you!!!
A great professor for non-traditional students as well as traditional. He applauds the working parent trying to better their life with higher education. Very patient and understanding.
Best math teacher I've ever had. Wish he taught more math classes. Gives 7-10 points as a bonus on the tests if you do the homework, and will help you during your test if you need it. I wasn't good at math until this semester; everything he teaches is easy to remember and understand. Incredible teacher.
He is very thorough in his explanations and is always there to answer questions. HW is optional but if you do it you get +10 on your for that section.
He gives homework assignments before the test which isn't mandatory but helps to give extra credit points for the test! It's really hard to fail his class he helps a lot and is a pretty cool professor
I love this teacher. He explains things well and doesn't try to make it difficult. Homework is for extra credit, he provides hints on test, and don't be afraid to ask questions. He just wants you to understand the material. Although, he does take attendance so if you skip class you won't pass. As long as you pay attention and show up you'll be fine
Great lecture based teacher. His lectures are very informative with plenty of examples. The homework is optional but if completed with semi-accuracy you will get 10 bonus points on your next test that the homework really helps you prepare for. Take good notes, take advantage of the extra credit homework, study the examples and you should succeed.
Benkam Bobga is the best math teacher you can get for college algebra in my opinion. I had a great year in his class and believe if you pay attention, do the assignments, and study, this class will be easy: even for an average math student.
Gives good and easy to understand lectures. All his powerpoints go on the shared class files. Test are very simple and straight forward. Do homework and he'll give you extra credit on test.
He was hard to understand at first, but you get used to it. Tests were fairly easy, although he makes it sound like they'll be harder than they really are. There's four tests, but he drops the lowest one, so I didn't even take the last one since I did well on the first three. Overall, he's okay. It's not very difficult, and he's pretty nice.
This guy is THE BOMB. You cannot go wrong with him as your math professor. He gives very clear and organized notes, and is very helpful when you ask him. Overall nice guy. I highly recommend him for any and all math courses that you take regardless of your major. You will not be disappointed my friend.
I am only halfway through the semester and so far his class has been going very well for me. Do the homework and study the power points. If you do that, you will make good grades on the tests.
Good Professor! Take notes, take advantage of extra credit assignments and you will do fine. 4 Test ad a final. One Test is drop. Just study the slides and notes.
only too late in the semester did i realize i should have been studying his powerpoints more than the homework. this isn't because he asks different questions, but you have to be familiar with the WAY he asks questions. he will ask you many odd things on a test that are not straight-forward. if you don't know his "language", you're left guessing.
Had him for Summer Pre-Calc. He missed a week of lectures for personal reasons and that really put pressure on the class to learn the material on their own. We ended up having two tests within a week of each other. He should give the students study guides since his lectures and assigned homework do not prepare for tests like they should.
He's tough, but fair. While it is true that he had to take a week off, he drops your lowest test grade and made test 4 optional, even though it was relatively simple. Pay attention to notes, often pulls test questions for them and from homework. If you do the homework and pay attention in class, you should do well. Oh, and homework is extra credit.
Had him for a summer Pre-Calc. Overall, he's a nice guy. He is willing to help on tests and answer questions. One of the big things that stood out in my mind was nearly three fourths of every question I asked him he would respond arrogantly or irritated. If you struggle, do the homework, it'll save your butt on the tests as many others have said.
The only things that count as grades are the test. He will teach most of the material, but you have to read to be able to get the portion of the test that is multiple choice right. Takes about a week to grade test. Overall he isnt terrible, but I definitely would not take a class with him again.
This is my second semester taking a class with Bobga and I am not a math guy but he has really helped me to learn the concepts unlike any teacher I've had. He provides clear online notes and gives extra credit for completing HW. Pay attention to his notes when studying for tests and you'll do well.
Dr. Bobga likes to move fast, but he is very caring. He will try his best to explain things if you are struggling. His tests are tough, but he does drop one. Do the homework, but make sure to study his power points more than anything because his tests are based off of those slides. He is a fair grader and I think a great professor!
He is an amazing professor. I wish I could have taken him for all my calculus classes. Very clear what he is asked for on test. He is very helpful outside of class, if you do the homework he gives extra points on your test.
He is a decent professor, extremely smart, but moves way too fast and expects you to just know what he is talking about. He has a slight accent but still understandable.
Dr. Bobga is a great professor for Calc 1. Do not expect this class to be an easy A; you will have to work hard. He is a fair grader and gives extra credit for doing his homework though. He always has his office door open outside of class and is more than willing to help you with any problem from his notes or the homework.
He is a difficult teacher in general. Attended every class and still had trouble understanding the material. He talks fast and assumes the students know statistics beforehand. Tests are weighted heavy, lots of homework, and struggled to maintain passing grades.
Dr. Bobga was a fantastic teacher, but don't take his class unless you're willing to work hard. The grade was based on four tests and a final exam. On the first test, I misunderstood the requirements for the homework, and he still trusted me to turn it in the next class and gave me the extra points anyway. But you have to work hard!
Discrete math is not too hard, but Bobga likes to make things challenging. He is a great professor and is always willing to help you understand a concept. Show up to his lectures and always study his power points!
He's a great professor. His lectures are straightforward and helps you outside of class if you ask him. His test is hard but gives you extra credit for doing the homework. Study for his test and ask questions and you'll do good in the class.
TERRIBLE at explaining basic concepts or answering straightforward questions. There is a test he's given for years and he told us was hard (understatement). We went over questions we did horribly on and he would say "yeah that's a bad question", but he had still decided to leave them on the test so it felt more like he was screwing us over.
Professor Bobga is terrible at answering questions in class. He makes you feel dumb when he answers your question. His lectures are long and tests are hard. He only grades your exams and drops the lowest. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU SUCK AT MATH
He criticizes students who get answers wrong and will call you out for the right answer. His tests are very difficult (most of the questions are multiple choice) but, if you do your homework, he drops your lowest grade and gives bonus points on each test. He tends to focus on easy concepts, leaving the hard concepts for self-study.
Id say he is a pretty chill profressor. I suggest doing the homework for practice. The only things we had was 4 tests and final exams. The rest is lectures and homework. Get calculus textbook .7th edition. If you get 6th youll be lost in the problems to do.
Professor Bobga is a great and thorough lecturer. If you are willing to really listen to him and take good notes, you will do just fine in the class. But it is still helpful to go over the textbook. Your grades consist of 4 tests and the final exam and on top of that, extra credit points on tests for completing the non-mandatory homework.
Prof. Bobga is the greatest man i've ever met
best teacher ever
Having Professor Bobga as my elementary statistics teacher was such a blessing. If you can focus and follow along, and aren't a smartass, you'll be just fine with him. If you aren't gifted in math I would still consider taking him, but get a tutor because it's a FAST PACED CLASS. No matter what do the homework and don't skip class.
Had Bobga for Calc 1 in Fall 2019. He is a great guy, hilarious. He tries to scare you and weed out the people that don't care, so only take him if you are serious about learning the material. No need to buy the textbook even though it says it's required and he says the homework is from it. He accepts and prefers practicing ppt notes instead.
In professor Bobga's class your grade is determined by your test grades and final. No homework, no quizzes, only tests and final exams. He has an attitude when you ask a question, always believing that the student lacks the skills needed to solve the question. "Oh that's an easy one" "Why do you ask that question you should know it!"
Professor Bobga was a solid choice for MATH 1113 Precalculus. Buying online WEBASSIGN textbook + homework questions was mandatory. He usually does a bunch of examples in-class until you understand the concept. Really nice and funny guy; will work with you to fit your needs. Grades are 4 exams + final exam + homework average. Would recommend.
Took his class online so he didn't lecture. His written notes were like a 130 pages long. I just focused on the slides he provided. The hw/study guides for the tests were like 100 questions except for one test. The hw/study guide is due the day of the exam which gives you plenty of time to study or to procrastinate. It's VERY similar to the exam.
Amazing! I love prof Bobga. I took him for Discrete Math and Calc 1. He is amazing at teaching, he goes over material thoroughly. The claim that he belittles students is outlandish. Bobga is also very friendly and cares about his students success.
Bobga is an AMAZING person and he CARES about his students. His effort will match yours! I TOOK HIM FOR EVERY CLASS I COULD!
He gets an attitude whenever a question is asked. He has long lectures and expects his class to be the top priority over anything else in your life. Constantly talks down on the class and basically calls us dumb. DO NOT RECOMEND
Honestly, I'm surprised professor Bobga was given all of these negative reviews. Do NOT let that discourage you. He gives very clear instructions on how to prepare for his upcoming tests. That's something not many of my professors have done. I would 100% take another class with him again. It's pretty apparent that he wants his students to succeed.
This is by far the worst professor i have had at UNG yet. He does NOT respond to emails and does not take any assignments off from previous classes or semesters (on D2L) so everything is mixed up. He doesn't give clear instruction on how to do things and just copies and pastes everything. Will not give clear due dates and seems to not care at all.
Bobga is not as bad as these reviews portray him as. Attendance and following along in class is very important and will be your best bet in order to pass. Didn't get the best grade in his class but that's my fault. Definitely take his class if you'll come to class everyday and keep up with the homework. Also pretty funny and builds a relationship.
What a champ! Professor Bobga provides you with homework problems which are the majority of the test problems, while some concepts come from his lectures. Definitely not the easiest class, but Professor Bobga makes it manageable. Bobga LOVES his sweaters when it rains. On a chilly or rainy day, expect it!
Take the negative reviews with a grain of salt. If you do the homework and pay attention during class, you'll do well. He even dropped our lowest test score. He can be quite a jokester sometimes. Cool guy!
Dr. Bobga is the best! Such a precious human. Math is very difficult for me, but I understood everything he taught easily. The way he teaches just makes sense! + He is your biggest advocate in & out of class. I wish I had him in the past! I'd be a math genius with his guidance. *NOTE: Pearson (MyStatLab) is mandatory & not covered by tuition costs*
Not a hard class. Attendance was not mandatory, but professor got mad because some students weren't consistent in coming to class. I recommend going to class because he did examples. Lectures were pretty dry. Grade consisted of hw and tests. There were 5 tests, 2 of which were proctored in class. Test questions mostly just came from the hw.
I adore Professor Bobga, he's a wonderful teacher. He makes Stats easy to learn and he's hilarious as well. Homework is helpful and he's willing to work with you to make things do-able. I would recommend him to anyone wanting to take Stats!
Professor Bobga is a great person! The tests were a little bit challenging but he is always ready to answer your questions! He genuinely cares about his students and wants to see everyone succeed. I highly recommend taking his classes!
I took this class as a dual enrollment student in Fall 2021. I was nervous at first, but in the end, I loved this class. He is a great professor, and if you put the work in to be attentive and do the homework, you will be fine. He was funny and caring and I am so happy to have learned Calc 3 from him. Thank you Prof. B, you prepped me well for GT.
He is the best math professor I have ever taken. Absolutely approachable, easy to understand his content. He goes above and beyond for his students to understand the material and do amazing on their quizzes and exams. Answer questions very simply and like his students to participate in class. I cannot wait to take him again.
Dr. Bobga can be quite a handful to have. I'd recommend his class if your other ones don't have a heavy work output so you can REALLY focus on this one. Homework revolves around the lectures so pay attention! Also answers questions from the homework during some lectures. Tries his best to make students understand concepts and Homework questions
Just study the homework for the test and memorize the calculator functions. Idk why ppl think this class is going to be easy so you actually have to put in some effort. DO NOT MISS CLASS if you do then he will call you out and ask why you missed class. And if you do miss class then youre most likely not going to get your lowest test grade dropped.
I'm not the best at math, but he made the material easy to comprehend. Attendance is a significant factor for the course , and towards the end of the semester ,he will drop your lowest test grade if you have great attendance. Two of the exams were online and the other two were in person. Overall ,he was a great Professor and super understanding.
Bobga is amazing. He does want to help you if you have questions. The homework is super important to study! If you want to get a good grade, study the homework!! He's a nice person to talk to and is fair. He does drop your lowest test grade but don't think that includes the final exam. I suck at math and I'm glad I took his class.
He was totally awesome. He's super chill and a lot of your exams are online. I would def show up to class as it matters to him and KEEP UP WITH HOMEWORK online, its all easy. His accent also isnt too thick that (if you arent good with accents) youd not understand him. He wont respond to your emails, but he is a great professor. I took him for stats
Very good professor. You must do the homework and be there for every lecture if you want to pass or get an A. He is very generous if you go do test corrections. He gave me almost 20 points back because I knew the material. He is sometimes rude, but that could just be his personality. He truly cares about you and will not fail you. GOAT of UNG Math.
Very funny professor and he cares if you pass the class. He is very helpful but won't respond to emails. However, you need to attend class as he will give extra credit or take off lowest grade if you continuously keep attending. Math is not my strongest suit and I understood most of the lectures.
Professor Bobga makes this math class engaging. While the material can be challenging, his teaching style and willingness to help make it manageable. Using Unstuckstudy and the textbook helped me prepare effectively.
If you take any of his classes that use Pearson MyLab, just tune him out and go teach yourself through there. His lectures are not well organized and can be confusing at times. He does not explain things very simply. That being said, he is a nice person, but will also single you out for poor attendance, and he is very strict with attendance.
Professor Bobga is very nice and helpful. He makes himself very accessible to students.
Dr.B was always willing to help. He wants all of his students to succeed. Participation and attendance is important to him. Show up to class ready to engage. Not a hard class if you focus. Test can be a bit tricky so pay attention to the homework and ask questions before the test. Do good from the start, it will help you once content gets heavy.
Very good professor for calculus. As long as you do the homework the tests should be a breeze.
Had him this semester and i drop his class. He was a good professor when it comes to teaching; good at explaining and is helpful when asking questions, and caring, but 95% of your grade is exam and 5% is homework. Your homework can consists of over 100 questions; they are long the exam is the same for the most part. exam 1 is without a calculator.
Honestly one of my fav professors. I hate math, but he made stat very easy and really wants you to succeed in his class. The tests were straightforward as long as you practice problems and come to lecture because attendance is mandatory.
Homework problems had over 100 questions. It was more than enough to prepare you for the exams though. Tests are on computer in person. He is a pretty social guy, if you want a talkative professor than he's your guy. For me though, most of the material was self taught.
Dr. Bobga is a very brilliant mathematician, he must have been born speaking Calculus! His class is homework heavy for a reason. Homeworks are called Test 1,Test 2, Test 3 & Test 4 MATERIAL, each about 100 questions then the actual Tests come from that homework - about 25 questions per test. No midterm, just the Tests, then Final - 35 questions.
I LOVE Dr. Bobga. I have always been awful at math and this man somehow made me understand it. The way he explains things made concepts click in my head that had never clicked before. I could not recommend him enough. On top of that, he's really funny and fun to talk to.
