Irritated by interruptions. Lectures were posted online so no requirement to attend class.

wow, Cognitive PRocesses is the worst psych class I have taken. It is soooooo boring. In reference to him.... he can't be entertining.. there is noway he can make this class fun..
he is nice, but he doesnt tolerate tardiness,or any other interruptions. class could be really, really boring at times..a few people fell sleep..tip:drinks lots of coffee before you go to class=)

very interesting class
Oh my Gosh this was the most boring teacher ever!!!!! Don't u dare getting late to class, or coming in without 3 tons of caffeine in ur blood or u won't survive the "temple of doom" he turns this class into!
this guy is the worst... i hated this class soooo much
Not great, not awful either.
Such a Jerk!!! Yelled at people when they were late and if they wanted to leave early. He's just not a very nice person.
He is a really nice guy and in my opinion a really good teacher. I can't see anyone doing bad in the class. Notes are online, and lecture isn't that boring. Doesn't like tardiness but who does? I would recommend him!

good teacher easy to get an a if you cpome to class and read test are easy, a little strict but its an easy a if you work
He's a great teacher. He has all the material online so u can't mess up. He hates ppl who come in late so if u do, he'll point u out but other than that.... he's good. He makes the material very easy to understand n he tests fair. I highly recommend him. Don't 4get to turn off ur cell! He hates that!
He's a great professor. He makes you interested in the class. He provides notes online for the lectures. His tests are easy and he grades very fair. The only negative thing about him is that he's very paranoid at times. He takes things personal sometimes. Don't let your cell go off in class because he will point you out. He's good though.
VERY GOOD PROFESSOR!YOU REALLY LEARN FROM HIM,HE IS STRICT BUT GOOD PROFESSOR. THE CLASS ITSELF IS A LITTLE BIT HARD BUT IF YOU STUDY YOU GET A GOOD GRADE,HE CURVES!
He's nice but he def. can be boring at time only because he doesn't make the class fun.He knows his subject but sometimes making jokes in the class is good, keeps the students attention but he just keeps going on n on abt the class..n he def. needs to fix his attitude!! Tests were hard for this class.Wont recommend him unless you have no option
I was interested in the class thinking it would be really cool to learn about that stuff, but he's so BORING. The guy knows his stuff, but his tests are hard. I tried reading, I tried studying from my notes, and nothing worked. Class average for each test was 68-69, and I'm normally an A-B student. Don't recommend taking him unless you have to.
Very helpful when I was writing papers for other graduate psychology classes. Asked good and interesting questions during my thesis defense. Never took a class from him, but he is brilliant and oh-so cute.
This class was very interesting. He has assignments and extra credit online you should be fine in the class with research credit for 5 points. He does get mad at other students that don't follow the rule. He was my best psychology teacher becasue I got an A in is class in Spring 06.
his tests are not too difficult- just read the book and the notes online and you are set.. he HATES it when you walk in late- if you are going to be late just skip class that day.. and turn off your cell- he knows his material and when he chills out can be funny-- Most classes he teaches everything is posted online so just come for tests
As long as you go to every lecture you'll do fine
super prof. he is very thoughtful, great teacher, super interesting class, one of my best teachers ive had so far. great great
Boring class! Had a lot of interest beforehand, but hes so monotone and his lectures are straight from the book so there's no need to go to class. Was totally unsympathetic to the fact that I had strep throat, and missed a test, even with doctors note. Wouldnt ever take this professor again.
took online... requires alot of reading, need to study. Material is not "light", but was very interesting. Thought I would get a b-, surprised me with a b+. I was pleased because i worked very hard in this class.
hes not very helpful and makes you feel like an idiot if you ever answer a question. dont even bother putting your two cents in unless you like getting shot down.
(Cognitive Processes) Good introduction to the topic, fair amount of homework, fair tests. While he wasn't always delicate answering students' questions, he never dumbed down the material. I respect this immensely. B/c this was an online class I didn't have to be concerned about Dr. Schwartz' legendary impatience with tardiness....
He is sooooooo cute!!!
He was a big condenscending jerk in our lowly Intro to Psychology class, but I hear he is great in upper division.
if you are looking for a psychology class DONT TAKE THIS! It is basically a REALLY hard science class and NOT a good elective! Complete waste of time and money. If you do take it, DONT be late- he stops the whole class just to complain about you for like 10 minutes. Horrible class if you are looking for a typical interesting psychology class.
This Professor was Good! Although he has a few pet-peeves(especially when stud.'s come late)... This class has 4 Tests(not difficult) of which the lowest one gets dropped.. and No papers due.. His notes are all powerpoint, and are all posted on Webct.. Rarely takes attendance.OVERALL, I would Def. recommend this Prof.
Took the class online. Read for the first exam and got 100%. Never read again or did the paper and still got a C. Teacher is very helpful and material is actually very interesting. Book is not boring or longwinded and actually entertaining. Read and do the paper and you will have an A easily.
very lazy teacher, doesn't like students, shouldn't be teaching. Median grade is very low, don't ruin your gpa
ton of reading and very boring stuff..he makes it even more boring and hard. oh and DONT BE LATE OR HE'LL BITE YOUR HEAD OFF
Cool guy, understanding, and very approachable (coming from a kind of shy freshman).
Yes, if you come late to class you will be called out in front of everyone. Interesting material, tests are a little tough, but if you read the book, and study the notes you should be able to get an A. Many people found it hard though, average on tests was normally in the 70's. Overall an enjoyable class. Drops lowest test grade.
trust me, don't sign up for this class if you dont have to this guy is really not well.
4 EXAMS WITH ABOUT 40 QUESTIONS EACH. LOWEST GRADE GETS DROPPED (EVEN IF IT'S A 0) SO THE GRADING IS MORE THAN FAIR. ASKS RANDOM QUESTIONS FROM THE TEXT AND LECTURE. HOWEVER, LECTURES ARE VERY BORING AND HE GETS VERY IRRITATED IF A CELL PHONE RINGS, IF HE HEARS MUMBLING, OR IF YOU'RE LATE. HE IS EASILY DISTRACTED AND COVERS INFORMATION VERY SLOWLY.
You either love him or hate him. But it seems to me that the people who hate him are the kind of people who shouldn't be in college to begin with. Awesome professor!
He's OK. He has several interesting ideas, and always contributes to the discussion. What I dont like is that he can be very rude. He does not like it when a cell phone goes off or people talk. He sceams and interupts the class more than the people talking. We are in Kollege not Elementary Skool!
This professor is great.ALL of these complaints are probably from people who walk in 25min late to a 50min class. He is an excellent professor.Attendance is recommended. If you cant pass this class you probably shouldn't be a Psychology major.50 min classes=33question tests which have questions with REAL WORLD scenarios, you know like real psychology!
Time was well worth spent in class. The teacher is very insightful about the material. His biggest pet peeve is tardiness, so if you're the tardy type don't take this class. He will put you on the stop!!! Otherwise he is a great teacher, four exams and drops the lowest grade.
The class is really easy, though he can have a short temper if students text or are late. He's usually pretty nice. If you do all the assignments you'll probably get an A in both the fall and spring terms with him.
Took class online. Good class structure. 4 multiple choice exams (about 25 ques each) and a 3 page research paper. The text book and the material is interesting. Prof is helpful about asking questions related to material.
Dr. Schwartz is a great professor. Always willing to help. Show him your dedicated, and he'll give you all the support. Take him!
This prof. has a big trauma because he thinks everyone is taking his class to get an easy A, so he makes it hard without any sense, come on is IDH, nothing to do with our major at all. He gives students lower grades than they deserve just to make them feel less than what they really are, gives sometimes presentations but those are cheapy.
He's ok. Professor makes the course difficult for absolutely nothing. The course is not properly designed, 4 exams only and a paper. He's very inactive in the course although he did answer my emails promptly. No encouragement and your totally on your own. Most of the stuff he provides is irrelevant with his exams. I'm a good student and got a B.
This is one of the best teachers I have ever had! I have taken every class he offers and wish he taught more. No, he doesn't like it when you come late or your cell goes off, but that is to be respected. He is so knowledgeable and makes you want to know more and keep learning. He is the best teacher I have ever had and is too good for that school.
He is a nice guy once you get past the "intimidation factor" of the fanny pack he wears all day
Professor uses his own book to teach course. Attendence is not mandotory. Read the book, go to class for the test and you will pass. Never attended a single lecture and recieved an A. He also gives you practice exams online to prep for his test. Highly suggested for students who do not mind reading the whole book and hate going to class.
Don't need to go to class. His tests come from his book, which he wrote himself. Overall the material is interesting but his tests are tricky. Take all 3 exams and he drops lowest or just take the final and whatever you receive on it is your final grade. Not easy A, most people got 70s-80s on tests. I personally studied for all exam and got B so GL
If you are willing to read the book which is very interesting and understandable, you can take him. If you study, you are not going to have any problem and will finish with an A.
Do not take this professor or class! He's tests are horrible. You can get an A if you can afford a week of studying for each. Basically memorize the power points and go back on the book for minor details (if you want). He's test policy is good and he curves (look at grading scale) He's anal about being late. Also, very important He's a Jerk BIG TIME
Very well informed and well versed. The guy wrote a textbook on the class. Provides detailed Powerpoints for every chapter.
This professor Is very nice and knowledgeable on the topics covered (obviously he wrote the book you will use for the class). He has a few ticks, but once you get past that, the class is great.
Useless to go to class other than for iClicker points counted as "experiments." Participate in 6 of them, and he drops the lowest exam grade of the 3. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! It's enough to memorize the powerpoint slides and test yourself with his website. Reads from the slides, not too entertaining at all.
He is really monotone and says "UHM" a lot, it's bad. Other than that, you only have 2 test grades but they're fairly easy. The powerpoints are the same as the book since he wrote the textbook. If you don't go to class the book will help, if you don't want to buy the book class is recommended.
Need the book. Tests are semi easy with lots of studying. Questions are there that weren't even discussed. Iclicker saves your grade.
This class is the best. I loved this guy's teaching.
I took this class online. He posts lectures up but they are the most useless thing I've ever looked at. You will have to read the book. He is willing to answer questions and replies quickly. He also gave the whole class an e.c. opportunity because most of the class failed the first exam. The content is interesting and applicable to real-life.
STAY AWAY! There is something seriously wrong with this guy. He doens't like being called "professor" and his exams are the worst. Almost impossble to pass! You can read all you want and you still won't pass. All these positive reviews posted is probably him writing them. I've yet to meet anyone who has taken a class w/ him that actually likes him.
His reviews make him look worse than he actually is! This prof was great! If you study and write a decent paper you can do well in the class. I didn't study THAT much and did pretty well on the exams. The paper seemed to be the most daunting task though it wasn't as bad as I initially thought. Take him if you are passionate about psychology!
These guys are bitter. He alway willing to help you with things you dont understand. Great guy and loves to help student who care.
Interesting lecture. Wrote the book. Helps students who help themself.
Online; 13 quizzes, best 10 counted. Tests straight from reading. I found the material interesting (he wrote the book himself as well). Final was open-book. The one major assignment was to research one of the relevant topics. That was the only tricky part that took planning. All in all- RECOMMEND 100%!!! Very helpful
Great professor. lmao @ students who can't understand that he gets distracted by tardies. Hmmmm and they're taking Cognitive Processes! slackers!!!!!
His lecture are boring and he's very monotone. He gets bothered easy with people coming in late or leaving class early. Other than that the class is semi interesting. He has 2 test a midterm and a final. He left you make up for either of the two or the two on the schedule final exam day.
Does not make class interesting at all. Though he wrote the book, he teaches from slides that are online and again doesn't make class enjoyable but the subject itself is bland. And can be rude at times.
Prof. Schwartz is pretty fair but he does not make the class super interesting. He gives two tests, a midterm and a final. At the end, during finals week he allows you to come in and retake your test if you were unhappy with your grade or if you missed it. It is about 6-7 chapters each test. Don't really need the book, you can go off his PP's. :)
I am a senior with a high B GPA, I have never dropped a class, and I had to drop his class. Horrible. Unless you want to ruin your GPA stay away.
He is a boring professor. The class was not interesting either. I wouldn't recommend him.
I took this class online. The material is very interesting. 13 (weekly) quizzes drops the lowest 3, a paper and a final (essay) getting an A will consist of actually reading the chapters carefully. If you like learning ways to enhance your memory take his class
I attended every class, never late and I studied! However, the exams are very difficult! Nothing of what he says to study is on the exam and he is really rude and easily distracted by everything! Again my gpa is a 3.6 and I almost failed his class. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS... Honestly it isn't worth it.
Strict professor. Very clear on his lectures, if you read his book you will get an A on each test. Only 2 tests, NO extra credit. His lectures are old fashion (ppp readings) but you would learn a lot if you are interested in the topic.
i basically never went to class & got an A. just read the book, he wrote it himself & it's basically the same stuff on the powerpoints. also read the syllabus, because some of his test questions are based on the syllabus & those are easy points right there. not a very riveting lecturer.
He's an awesome professor, but very strict by the same token. You dont "have" to come to class, but it is very helpful. I went to every class, took notes, and never opened the textbook. I ended up with an A because his ppts come straight from the book. One midterm & one final - no hw, and there is no extra credit. Overall I loved the class-take it!
Lectures are painfully boring. No matter how awake you are when you enter the classroom, you will start feeling groggy within minutes of the lecture. (Funny enough, I have another class just ten minutes after this one where I am WIDE awake for the whole duration.) Grading is fair - 2 tests, and opportunity for make ups - but I would not take again.
Online class. For his quizzes, you must read the chapters closely and USE THE PRACTICE QUIZZES ON THE TEXTBOOKS WEBSITE! THEY HELP TONS! His reaction paper was challenging but it's only because I procrastinated. He is very clear and concise AND strict on deadlines but a Professor who contacts you back right away and is understanding. Amazing!
Great teacher, attendance not mandatory and all powerpoints online, but highly recommend going because the tests can be quite challenging
He REALLY knows his stuff, especially since he wrote the text book. Great Professor. Loved going to class. TAKE HIM!
Awesome professor attendance is not mandatory and only two exams are given. No homework, and you can retake the exams a second time if you didn't do well the first time, however the second exam becomes you're final grade even if you do worse than you did the first time. Overall very nice professor def would take him again if I could
He's pretty boring, unless you are truly interested in the subject of his class. Attendance is not mandatory and you can be late, however that's a pet peeve of his. You will depend on the book for dear life to pass this class. You will fail the class if you don't read the book.
This is absolutely the best course I have taken at FIU. Schwarts is the author of the textbook and he is extremely knowledgeable in the subject. He can be quite rigid in his teaching and distractions, but he's an excellent professor. You should attend class and read the book.
He's extremely boring. Struggled not to fall asleep every lecture. Going to the lectures aren't really that important because you can get the same amount of information from the powerpoints that are online and from the book itself. Would've taken the class with another professor if I knew how bad this guy was.
This class is very boring; it is very hard not to fall asleep. I would say it is a good class, except he does not give any review for his exams, he just allows to students to ask any questions for clarification. I wish I wouldn't have taken this course with this professor.
I wish I wouldn't have taken this guy. It's a 3000 level course yet the tests are unbelievably hard. They are not even questions, they are phrases that turn into fill in the blank. Lectures are too boring, hard not to fall asleep. Overall, don't take him unless you have no. Oh, and reviews are a joke. He makes the students ask him questions. RUN.
If you are planning on taking this course online, I recommend that you read each chapter thoroughly, use the chapter outlines as your study guide. There are 12 quizzes 20 questions/20 min, a reaction paper and a final. Drops the 2 lowest quiz grades. Not an easy class but if you DEDICATE to the readings you should be fine.
I was so mislead by all his good comments! He is one of the worst professors I've ever had. He gives two exams (6-7 chapters each) and doesn't even give a review! He reads off PowerPoint the whole class and is really boring. I don't suggest anyone take him!
The class is not HARD! I am sorry, but whoever says that its impossible to get an A or that he's a bad teacher is either a slacker or not too smart. Attendance isn't mandatory if you read the chapters and actually try to understand the information. He is one of the best professors and is crystal clear. Very intelligent professor and helpful
I hate this guy. He's easily distracted, his tests are simply unrealistic in terms of what you should know according to what little he teaches. I got a B+ in his class, but he was no help at all. I relied on the book for this. Sure he wrote it, but besides that, he's a terrible teacher.
This class is not super difficult, but it is time consuming because you have to sit and read every chapter. He does NOT give any reviews for the quizzes or the test. Each quiz 20 questions=20 min and then a reaction paper and the final. It's a bit of a challenge, but you can do it. I don't think I'll take him again though.
Attendance not mandatory. Exam 1=50%,exam 2=50% of your grade. No hw/Extra credit/sona;nothing. Exams are super hard. I worked so hard to get an A. The class average for each exam was 70-72%. The way he phrases on exams is kind of tricky. I can't stress enough how important reading the book is. Entire exam from book. Need to study A LOT. Nice guy.
Dr Bennett Schwartz is a very good professor yet, don't take this class if you are not committed to work hard for an A. Only two test, 7 chapters each and they are from the book which mean....read each whole chapter and memorize the researches, they are gone be on the test!!!!!!!one positive thing is his book is interesting, he is a good writer.
I worked really hard on this class, it was my first semester at FIU and I struggled on his exams, I wouldn't recommend taking him.
I was taking the final and the internet went out at FIU so the test autosubmitted itself, therefore I ended up with a 40 on the final.Tech support opened a case but he didn't want to reopen it for me..not fair! Anyway the only thing that saved me is that his lowest C is a 60. Besides that, read the book. If you put in time you'll do good.
I only wanted to rate professor Schwartz because he really is a good professor,He makes you to study hard so that you will learn. This is in detriment of his own evaluations . We rate the worst to hardest professor, however, I am pretty sure that what I did learn in this class, will be with me for a long time, I read the whole book several times
Only take him if you are really interested in the class. He expects you to do a lot of studying, and has a final exam that accumulates the entire material of the semester.
Prof goes strictly by the book (which he wrote) but it's an easy read and interesting. He's clear on what he wants but he's not easy. There's no way you shouldn't get an A if you don't study. I took him online and didn't do well on my final (time pressure).
Prof knows his stuff. He literally wrote your textbook. But, he's too stuck in his ways and is not understanding - even for emergencies. The class is straight forward and no surprises. The tests are practical. Meaning you have to read and understand. Not an easy class but not the hardest either. Just don't expect him to help you out in any way.
This course was the first course I've ever taken where I've read an entire textbook front to back. It was difficult course, but I can honestly say I learned so much while taking it. I would recommend this professor just because he wants his students to succeed and pushes them to the best of their ability.
Took him online, you do have to read all chapters in the book and actually learn it front to back. He wrote his book and I thought that's impressive, he wants you to learn and if you do you should get an easy A. About 13 online quizzes 20 min each, one essay and a final that includes all chapters (5 essay questions). I enjoyed reading the book 3
I found this class very interesting. However, it is very hard! The weekly quizzes are very hard as well. It is extremely hard to get a grade on the final paper. He can be very rude and mean! I was going to take him for next semester but not anymore! I learned a lot and worked hard in this class and still didn't get the grade that I expected :-(
Make sure to read the book. It's a well written book. One chapter per week. I read the chapter on thursdays and took the quiz on fridays. Make sure to understand vocab and concepts. The final was cumulative (5 essay questions open book. You need to understand this stuff). 1000 word essay required.
You're grade is based on a midterm and a final. That's it. He hates lateness. He is approachable and willing to help. He reminds me of George W. Bush.
This class isn't as difficult as some make it seem. He isn't the nicest professor out there and has a tendency to send to many messages about the same thing. When it comes to the course you are going to have to read a lot but his power points do help. The essay is not hard. I did it the day of and received an 88. Also a 65% is a C in his class.
Good professor. took it online. responded very quickly to questions.
While at first I didn't care for his what seemed cold announcement about "life happens" I came to appreciate that he wasn't out to get the students. He is a fair professor, I earned the grade I received, you WILL work VERY hard to earn your grade. I LEARNED MORE in this class than ANY course I have ever taken. Things I am actually using in life.
This class was very tough. There's 13 weekly quizzes with 20 questions in 20 minutes, One paper, and two small projects. This professor wrote the book used in this course so he's pretty set in his ways. There is no extra credit and you really have to work hard but if you read all the chapters I guess it's doable. Just be prepared to study a lot.
I took class online. Writes back fast when you have a question, but don't misspell his name. He hates that. Very fair, but very narrow -- the rules are the rules. Overall, pretty good.
Professor Schwartz was very tough, but he was willing to be helpful. In the end, my grade averaged to a B, but he gave me a B+ instead. I wasnt expecting that.
HARDEST GRADER EVER! THE TEXT BOOK IS HIS OWN BOOK THAT HE WROTE HIMSELF AND HE MAKES UP ALL HIS OWN QUESTIONS. 1ST TIME IVE EVER READ AN ENTIRE BOOK FRONT TO BACK AND ONLY MANAGED TO GET A C IN HIS CLASS. DONT GET HIS NAME WRONG, HE DOCS YOUR GRADE! 13 QUIZZES IN 6 WEEKS, 1 RESEARCH PAPER, AND 1 FINAL THAT CONSIST OF 5 ESSAY QUESTIONS. SUPER HARD!
Great teacher. Always responded to email quikly. Talked tough, but was realy helpful.
Straight forward, not confusing, routine
I took Perception and sensation on-line. It was a great class. He wrote the book and gives weekly quizzes. There are also two projects. I never read and learned so much in one class The book was well written and easy to understand. I never thought I could get an "A" in the a class. He is very fair but you need to study.
This was a tough class. It was taken online and the Textbook is essential! Everything he uses is from the book and the online website that is sort of a lab. Quizzes EVERY week, and while I didn't mind that, it was hard to keep up. My advice, read the chapter two days before quiz, and concentrate on vocabulary. Then reread/go over chapter again
Professor Bennett Schwartz is very nice and responds quickly to emails. His test are very very hard they are multiple choice, but if you carefully read the textbook (which he wrote himself, in other words he is the author), you will see that he gets the test from the book. There is no midterm, but there is a short essay response final exam.
Bennett is super sweet and helpful! Gets back to emails in a couple of hours. 2small simple projects, 11 quizzes quizzes are 20 min 20 questions, two worst get dropped. Final is 60min w/ 5 long response questions, kind of tough. Quizzes are simple if you read and highlight text, I suggest etext if taking online. Read chapters and you shall pass.
Great professor! He's very clear on all of his assignments. Yes, his quizzes are a big tough but if you read the chapter for the assigned quiz and write notes, you will have no problem passing. His final consisted of 50 multiple choice questions straight from the textbook. Overrall, if you don't like to study or read, don't expect to pass.
Took this course online. You definitely need to read each chapter of the book word for word to be able to pass his quizzes, especially since he wrote the book himself! Quizzes are every week, 20 questions in 20 minutes. One research paper only 3 pages so it was fairly easy and a cumulative short response essay of 5 questions.
Decent professor. He is crystal clear on what he requires which I like. Very irritating when a professor is not clear. He sends out a lot of useful videos and lectures. He actually replies back to email, which is always nice. My only con with Dr. Schwartz is that he does not give enough time on assessments. He explains why but fact still remains.
Very clear grading: weekly quiz, midterm, final, and a paper. Quizzes are pretty challenging even after you read, but not impossible. If you read, you should be able to at least pass this class. Essay is not difficult, but I recommend starting early, you do need to do research. Replies to emails pretty quickly.
Every week there is a 20 q 20 minute quiz, essentially you spend 90% of the course studying for these weekly quizzes but they only constitute for 10% of your grade. Midterm/final/paper are 30% each. Midterm and final are essay response questions I don't understand how 90% of the course work is 10% of the grade.. responds hastily in emails.
13 quizzes drops 3, no discussions (thank you god!) 2 projects that were very easy, midterm and final. The midterm and final are short answer questions but it's open book and if you have an electronic version of the book it's super easy. I got an A- and I am not always an A student.
Wkly quizzes 20 q in 20 min. Read & outline the chpt for a passing grade since he wrote the book himself! Quizzes are only 10% of your grade, 30% final and 30% midterm, 5 short answer questions (250 words each). One research paper, doable and interesting. If you're fine with a B, take it. A is almost unachievable. No extra credit. Rude.
Amazing. Brilliant, great writer (he wrote the textbook) and total sweetie. Passionate about his work.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!! He's extremely rude !! and not compassionate towards his students. Very sarcastic, 20 min 20 question quiz every week. His midterm and final are an 65 minutes and ALL are essay questions which is definitely not enough time. Stayyyy away !!
Great teacher. lent me a copy of textbook cuz it was so expenstive.
Professor acts like he is too busy to do his job. He has a TA who is the communicator between students. Gave a 5 essay question midterm but sent a passive aggressive mass email to everyone afterwards saying he refuses to discuss grades with us because he simply doesn't have time. Frustrating. Quizzes are tough. Other assignments weren't so bad.
Amazing class. Yes it was tough, but yes I did learn!! Textbook is your best friend. Outline chapters and answer end of chapter questions ( as a way to study) You'll be good.
Great class. I learnt a lot. 2 exams, 8 quizzes, and a term paper. A lot of work. but easy grading. plus my grade averaged out to a B+, but prof gave me an A- instead.
2 exams, quizzes, and two projects. A lot of boring textbook reading, but professor was quick to get back with help and information -- always tried to be helpful. Grading was easier than expected.
He is a TERRIBLE professor!!!!! The coursework is not bad but he does not give a lot to help your grade and he is a super strict grader. Also, he is SUPER rude and not helpful at all. He does not care if you pass or fail. Avoid him at all costs, I was warned and did not listen.
Great pofessor. Such a sweetie. Course stuff is boring, but he tries to help.
13 quizzes. teacher drops lowest 3, plus you only need to get a 70 on the quiz and it counts as 100. He does it to make us learn but it sure makes getting an A easy. Two exams that are open book. You just have to look up the answers in the textbook and then copy down what's in the book. So, Easy A!
He gives 13 multiple answer quiz (easy) and two essay exams with 6 questions that you must wright around 250 words each in 60 minutes. I got a C for the first time because of this class. Do not take him. Not clear instructions, reviews for exam does not include all of the exam questions and he wants you to write a 900 word essay with no quotations.
easy class. 13 quizzes -- drops lowest 3. only need to get a 70 on quizzes and they count as 100's. projects were easy. essay questions were a lot of typing but you could look up the answers in the textbook. And the prof wrote the textbook.
Weekly quizzes that you need to get at least a 70 to be counted as an 100, a final and a midterm that you choose 5/6 questions to answer and they are short answers so about 200-300 words each and you have 75 minutes. Study guides are provided. There is also a final paper. You do have to work for your grade, an A is hard to attain.
final and exam are essays. Tough grader.
Honestly, this class is hard because of the professor. He gives you a study guide of 70 essay questions. Then, in the midterm and final you have to answer 5/6 of his choice. It is really difficult to study essay questions. Therefore, you have to write the explanation in your words one too. He is a tough grader and I regret getting this class.
Easy class. only have to get 70% on quizzes and they count as 100's. Plus you can take them again. Exams are open book, so you just copy the answers out of the textbook. I never had to do any of the reading, and the other projects took like 5 minutes to get A's on.
Weekly quizzes 20 q in 20 min. Quizzes are only 10 percent of your grade, 30 final and 30 midterm,. One research paper. online class -so lots of reading, but all doable.
Quizzes and writing assignment were ok. Midterm and final - tough grader. Wasn't the nicest when discussing why he graded the way that he did. Wish he would've been more clear on instructions.
Easy class. just follow the syllabus and you get an A. Actually, my grade came to a B+, but he gave me an A anyway. The best way to get him to like you is to ask him a question about something about the course rather than just like syllabus stuff.
The only good thing about this professor is that he wrote the book you need to use for his class so he knows what he's talking about. Other than that, he is not fair when grading, you get a quiz every week, study and they will be easy, a midterm, a final and project. Do yourself a favor and don't take him if you're avoiding headaches this semester.
Took this course over min-tierm. Prof was funny and the class was easy.
Need an easy A class? Well, Dr. Schwartz is your man! Super easy class.
This professor has very easy guidelines. The only reason people have found it hard is because the A wasnt handed to them or was effortless. One quiz a week - unlimited attempts!! Solely meant to keep you up to pace. A midterm, a short 700 word paper, and a final. The end!
Do not take him, hes exams are all written and hard. Exams are the only things that weigh in hes class so if you fail those you will more than likely fail hes class
Hes passionate about the subject and does understand it very well. The quizzes are multiple choices, you have to get at least a 70% then it counts as an A. However, the quizzes are only worth 10% of your grade. I have always gotten As and Bs at FIU but I might just get a C in this class. Doing bad on the final/midterm drops your grade ALOT.
Senstation and Perception is hard. but dr scwartz made it easy. thought I was going to get a C, he just told me he's giving me an A .
The worst professor I've had. Rude and doesn't care about his students. His syllabus is set up to make his life easy when it comes to grading not for the benefit of the students. The class its self could have been enjoyable but he takes all the joy out of learning. One bad grade is all it takes to fail you, this C will now be my lowest grade.
Great class. the projets were easy, all you had to do was look up answers for the exams. And prof was really nice.
WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED! Gives a study guide of 80+ questions, for a 5-6 question exam(final and midterm). He was rude, unfair when it came to grading, and falsely grades. I had to show him that I answered a question correct and he only granted a quarter of the points that I deserved. Never again will I take a class that he teaches!
grades the exams and papers really tough, then gives you a higher grade. I ws expecting a B, but he gave an A.
Great class, although not the easiest. The book is co-written by him, and it helped a lot. The material is not easy but the book gives plenty of examples that help you understand. There's a quiz for every chapter of the book, two short projects (a picture and a poster), and mid-term + final. Read and review the questions he provides and you'll pass
I was in a car crash and miss midterm. Proff Shwarts allow me to count final for midterm and final. And then also push up my grade. not sure why so many think he is rude, he polite with me.
Professor Schwartz is very a very knowledgeable person. However, as a professor I fell that he didn't care for his students. Midterm 30%, Final 30% and Paper 30%, quizzes 10%. The exams are open questions that you have to write and he is very hard grading and does not give feedback on questions wrong. Takes long to grade. I will not take him again.
Great class. will be useful for future classes. Exams are so easy - just look up answer in book.
Quiz every week - but they are fast and easy - just study a little and they are easy. There are a midterm and a final and couple of easy projects. I had no problems.
Dr. Schwartz, is very down to the point. He is not an easy grader but you will learn in his class. I was amazed on how much I learned. If you are a lazy student that just wants an easy A this is not the class for you. You must read and learn. Also exams are open book, 75 mins. 5 questions and very difficult. You are graded by accuracy and grammar.
RUDE MAN. Easy class, only have to do 8/13 quizzes as long as you pass them with 50% you'll get an A for all 8. 2 easy projects. Midterm and Final are medium difficulty. I still wouldn't take him because he's just super rude, he thinks he's above everything. Make sure you call him Professor Schwartz, he wont reply to you if you don't LOL..........
Great proffesor. I realy like this one. aways trying to help.
If you want an easy A or if you want a class where you can just look at the PowerPoints this class is not for you. This class is solely graded on a midterm, final, and 2-3 projects. Quizzes aren't taken into your actual grade except for 1. This professor is sorta intimidating to even send an email too. Study and you will possibly pass. Do Not Take.
Easy class. all you need to know is how to use an index and the tests are easy (open book). Projects were super easy.
Great class. Not the most interesting, but super easy. Prof gave out essay questions before exams, so doing tests were easy and not stressful. He read two drafts of my paper before it was due and I got a 100 on that.
Great class. easy A. two exams, one super short paper, and a bunch of quizzes that don't count. Prof gets back to you really quick if you have questions.
Great prof! I thought I was getting B, but he gave me an A. two exams, one paper, quizzes that didn't count for anything.
Dr. Schwartz knows his subject. He can come across as a little intimidating, but it's likely due to how some disrespect or disregard his rules and expectations. The quizzes aren't 'worth nothing', they're meant to help folks learn the material and practice. Take him, you'll learn a lot. He's very responsive if you have questions or concerns.
I did not expect a class to be so difficult as this one, I knew this class was not going to be easy but when I write a review it's because it was not worth the stress. Next caller if you have the chance.
He's a bit formal, but really nice guy. He's just focused on having you learn when you want a good grade. But once you figure that out, the grade comes easy.
Professor Schwartz was great. he offered a lot of supplemental material for us to understand what we were learning and gave lots of feedback forenames and assignments.
Senstation and Perception is boring. But that's not the professors fault. My grade came out to a B-, but prof gave me a A- instread. I am signed up for hisother course for the summer
Easy class. exams are easy - you just look the answers up in index and then the paper is 250 words. Probably spent like 15 minutes on class outside of exams and still wounds up with an A.
If you want to pass don't take this professor. He take points out for everything. He open a file to a classmate for academic missconduct to use other sources instead of his book for the exams. The book is very hard and you will have to read between línes to find the answer he wants.
Easy class. 2 exams and a short paper. and the exam were open-book, so you just had to look up answers. got 100 on both midterm and final.
I wouldn't normally write here, except maybe to insult a lousy teacher. But my grade average out to a B, but prof gave me an A. that's cool. two exams, one paper. standard stuff.
Great class. great prof. 3 exams, one paper. no problem.
If you can avoid this professor please do so. My 2 years at this school and I have never received anything below a B. Makes you buy his book that you can only use for tests. If you use anything else he automatically takes a bunch of points off. Worst professor ever I learned nothing.
Easy class Not much work
Easy class. two exams, you can look answers up inbook. one really short paper. gets back toenails fast.
Honestly, I get why people complain. But if you follow his instructions, you will do fine. He is very lenient when grading the abstract, but he can be tough with exams. Put as much detail as possible in the exam and you will do fine.
Only 2 exams and one small paper All pretty easy Prof sends emails every day which you are supposed to read but you can ignore them
To be honest, I'm satisfied with my grade but I believe I could have done way better if he had given us MORE assignments. You have weekly quizzes that are worth nothing if you did them but counted against you if you didn't? Two exams that were written response ONLY. He is SUPER picky and tedious to how you word your answers. Not very fair.
Easy class. all you had to do was copy the answers out of the book. and write a 20o word paper. Too easy.
A bunch of quizzes - you barely have to look at them to get full credit. A couple easy exams and a fun project. wasn't somehting I was interested in, and the book is boring, but the class was OK.
He is a very tough grader. Study guide wasn't helpful at all for exams. I was told that paraphrasing is considered cheating. He is very picky with how you answer exam questions. As a straight A student I have never had such a bad experience with a class/professor. A lot of my classmates feel the same way. Good luck!
Professor Schwartz could quite possibly be my least favorite experience at FIU so far. He states that paraphrasing is considered plagiarism. In what world is paraphrasing plagiarism? He says to put things into your own words, but isnt that what paraphrasing is? This alone is a headache to deal with. Do yourself a favor and dont bother with him.
Easy class. don't need to study - just look up answers on book.
Great dude. always has a kind word and helpful. follow the syllabus and youll do fine.
Great proff. Easy class. only advice - make sure you get the book.
Total of 13 quizzes and only 8 count so 5 are dropped. You only need to get a 50% on quizzes and he'll make it a 100%. Midterm and final are 10 essay questions on Canvas no 3rd party browsers or proctors. All straight from the book and he specifically wants the answers from the book. 2 simple quick and fun projects as well. Recommend!
Do NOT take him, he is unreasonable and will not explain why he graded the way he did. He is rude and refuses to admit that he is wrong. Horrible professor.
Schwartz is so easy. He let me turn paper in late then changed my grade when I didn't like it. Easy A.
Class was very easy. A bunch of quizzes which you can take anytime, a poster which was easy to do. the final is coming up, but even if I get a C on the final, it's still an A for the calss.
Professor Schwartz it's a great professor. 13 quizzes that are not graded but very necessary for midterm and final exam. Two projects that are relatively easy, one is a photograph and another is a poster. 2 exams. Easy A as long as you do everything on time and read the book.
Most easy going professor I have ever taken at FIU. 12 quizzes, one poster assignment due at the end of the semester and the final. Everything is easy as long as you read the chapters. All the assignments are due at the end of the semester so you can work at your own pace but it is advised to do one chapter a week.
Best Professor that I've taken. Only 12 quizzes that allow multiple attempts, only the best 11 count toward your grade. One poster assignment, very easy to do and examples are given as guidance and a final test. Overall very interesting material, the book is great, you will enjoy learning in this class.
Schwartz is the BEST professor. I see that most of his negative reviews are dated from the mini term. Why take a class during the mini term and expect it to be easy? It's a 16 wk course condensed into less than a month, of course it's not gonna be easy. There's 12 quizzes due @ the end. DON'T procrastinate and do them a day before the due date
Took this amazing prof for mini summer term. All he required us to do was take 12 tests (lowest dropped) that were due toward end of semester plus the final. Tests were straight forward bc prof wrote the text book. Keep up w the tests and you'll do fine. I took 4 a week and finished 2 weeks early. He also allows 5 points EC for SONA research.
Very easy class, the extra credit helped a lot!
Only 13 test for the course. you can take these test as many times as you want so you can make sure you are getting good grades. will drop one of your lowest score.
13 tests - all pretty easy. You can do them whenever you want. Canceled the final exam, so we don't have to stress. Great guy. easy class.
I was hesitant to take Dr. Schwartz but I'm sure glad I did his is straightforward the class is made up of 12 exams but only 11 is required and doing so you will have the chance to skip the final there PPT Lectures per chapter reading is a deal to do well in the class. Exams all have unlimited try's but timed it's done through lockdown Browser.
Took this course online. 13 quizzes and A Final Exam (LOCKDWN BROWSER REQUIRED). Quizzes are 20 questions allowed 20 minutes, however multiple attempts. Perfect course to take with other classes ALL quizzes are OPEN. Be prepared to look up info PowerPoint not the most helpful. If all test completed, then Final was not required!! NO GROUP PROJECT
I have taken this course with Professor Dr. Schwartz made the classes super easy. If you read the book you should be in good hands. I would take this course with him again.
Class is very easy. Schwartz makes this class work well with lots of tests that you can take until you get a good grade.
easiest class I took in the semester, it's just 13 quizzes and he drops the lowest one. Lets you retake them as many times as you need but they are timed. No locked quizzes they are all available the moment you start. The final is locked and is 100 questions. Only uses lockdown browser.
easiest class I've ever taken in my entire life. physically impossible to fail the course. just take all of the quizzes and you will be exempt from taking the final. quizzes are super easy. take him!!!! amazing guy
I took his course for Summer A , he made the course easy to manage. He was a sweetheart. He only gave 13 quizzes due by the end of the semester. UNLIMITED ATTEMPTS for each quiz, which made my stress go away. NO ASSIGNMENTS were given at least for this semester. He drops the lowest quiz! If you complete all 13 quizzes, he made the final optional!
If you can get this class with him..GET HIM!!! His only assignments are tests, which he requires you to complete only 11 of them. I recommend completing 12 cause he drops the lowest one, also you can take them as many times as you like for that perfect grade.
the class consists of like 13 quizzes all open from beginning to end of semester only have to do 11 of them the final is optional if you do 11 quizzes and drops worst grade he is amazing sends a million reminders and always sending vides and info to students
13 quizzes all open the entire semester and the final is optional if you do all11 quizzes. He drops worst grade and allows unlimited attempts on all quizzes. He is great, he was constantly sending new material that he thought would help us and he was always sending reminders.
Pretty easy course to navigate. Interesting topics. Read, do your work and you are good to go.
There are 13 tests on lockdown browser with unlimited attempts to take & 1 final. The final was dropped by the professor if you took all 13 tests. You can do sona research for extra credit. The professor sends you weekly messages and is easy to reach out to. Very hard to fail this class and the topics learned are very interesting.
The professor really cares about the material he teaches, as the book we use was written by him. He is very knowledgeable and excited for the class to learn the material.
Professor Bennett makes this class a breeze. With unlimited quiz attempts, no assignments, and the final being optional, it's virtually impossible to fail. Definitely take advantage of tools like unstuck study alongside the course materials to ace this class.
This course consists of 12 chapter tests (lowest grade is dropped) and a final exam (only for students who don't take at least 11 chapter tests). This course is extremely low-stress, as you get to work at your own pace and get unlimited attempts on the tests. Overall, good professor, interesting material, and very low-stress class; 100% recommend!
This course lets you work at your own pace. He sets the 12 chapter tests due on the same day. You have unlimited attempts for each test. If you do all of them, you don't have to tale the final. 100% recommend this class.
Easy class, all the work which consisted of 12 chapters just lockdown quizzes was the only work required at each of the semesters on the same day so you could do them at your own pace. You can take the quizzes as many times as you want to get the grade you would like. If you finish you them don't have the final.
You have the entire semester to complete 12 lockdown quizzes. The final was exempt if 11 out of the 12 quizzes were completed. Highly recommend taking this class if you have a heavy class semester.
Super chill!! Only 12 quizzes (unlimited attempts and lowest grade is dropped) and the final is optional if you pass al the quizzes. It's impossible to fail. Can't recommend him enough
