Dont miss a class. Ask about anything you are not understanding. Read your text. Dont be to afraid to ask him to slow down during lecture. Study your ass off. Test #1 and test #4 are very challenging. The rest is just math. Great man, OK teacher. Generous with extra credit. He is overworked.
Very confusing, he rushes through his lectures and doesn't slow down. He expects everyone to know everything about chem even though this is General Chem 1. Gives about 3-4 pop quizes every class meeting and looks at you like you're stupid when you ask a question. I don not recommend him at all.
stay away from this teacher. take this course at another campus.
Great teacher. Goes out of his way to help students who are really serious about learning. Gives exrta credit. I made an "A" in his class.
IF YOU WANT TO UNDERSTAND ANYTHING ABOUT CHEMISTRY DONT TAKE HIS CLASS!! HE RUSHES THROUGH HIS LECTURES, LOOKS AT YOU CRAZY IF YOU ASK HIM QUESTIONS, HIS FAVORITE SAY, "ITS EASY, WHY ARE YOU MAKING IT HARD? WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT ME TO SAY? I CANT MAKE IT ANY MORE CLEARER THAN THAT!" SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!!
HE SUCKS!!!!
OMG.. this man speaks so slow.. and there's soo man akward silence in the room. he doesn't make learning fun whatsoever. the class is easy but you cant miss one day or you're off track by like a month. and he's ashy too. NOT FUN ...NO NO NO NO NO!!!
HORRIBLE! Dropped after 2nd test. He DID NOT teach the subject. Just read his notes/book. When you asked a question he would say "Pop Quiz! Everyone take out a paper and answer that question as a grade!" Class average on first test was a 16!
IF THIS MAN DOES NOT LIKE YOU HE WILL MAKE YOU LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT AND YES THE CLASS IS NOT FUN AT ALL!!
I HATED!!!HATED!!!HATED!!! THIS MAN! HE WAS BORING AND MEAN AND MADE STUDENTS FEEL STUPID. HIS TESTS WERE NOTHING LIKE HE SAID THEY WOULD BE, COMPLETELY WRONG SUBJECTS FROM THE CHAPTERS HE TOLD US TO READ!
This teacher is VERY useless. He talks slow and his lectures are boring. His test are very difficult and totaly not what he says its going to be. He expects you to know everything. Don't Recomend it.
He is horrible!!! Mr. Jenkins gets an attitude when someone asks a question that HE NEVER WENT OVER. The tests are completely irrelevant to what he teaches in class. For example, the highest test grade for the first test was a 41!!!! Don't take him for Chemistry.
If you like watching paint dry this is the class for you. I took it @ 7:30 (am) didn't wake up till 9"30 when class was over. His test are from Mars & his lecture is from Venus (they don't match) and like someone else said if you ask a question he comes outaa has ass with "Pop Quiz" and aint even covered the material. He moves like ah turtle SLOW.
I am an A student, but I had to drop his class. He is not willing to answer questions and he expects you to know everything. In the lab you are on your own. He may be a Chemistry Dr but. he needs some classes in human relationships.
Anyone who registers for chemistry should understand it is not the easiest class in the world. You actually have to study. People who don't like him don't want to study. He was really helpful to me all semester. I took him for Chem I and II, and I had other choices.
Bad, bad, bad. His lectures do not match his tests.
same as other comments. if oyu love reading and figuring out things on your own, are completely introverted, and like class time to be review of material you never went over; this is the class for you. all other students who learn through experience, teaching, question and answer, or interactive learning... take another prof.
He isn't the most clear teacher and he doesn't explain concepts well.Just study yourself, make atleast a high F or D, he'll work out something with you to improve your grade. He'll curve up to 20 points,he'll let you retake multiple tests he'll curve at the end of the semester.I dont know any professor that will do all of this for students to pass.
Hard class, he's an ok teacher, you really have to study though. Don't recommend missing a day in class cuz you'll be way behind. On labs you are pretty much on your own, his examples are good but the tests are not all that easy but always gives a curve. Also, his jokes are pretty funny.
exellent
I hate this class. I do not understand any of his examples, because he always leaves them halfway done. He doesnt emphasize important concepts. And moves too quickly to understand everything.
I was an all A chem student in high school, but I'd be lucky to have a 50 when I dropped the course. He loves to walk out during labs for 10 or so minutes at a time unannounced, especially during dangerous labs involving bunsen burners and toxic chems. Lectures are different from the course material, and he doesn't mention important details.
I dont know what these other people are talking about, they must be slackers. His notes are good, pop quizzes are an easy grade since he gives you the answer. Lab is a breeze, he takes extra days so you can catch up. He gives extra days on assignments without deducting points. Test reviews tell you exactly what is on his exams. Highly recommend
such an awesome professor he give review for test .if you study you get good grades
He is an excellent Professor. He is very understandable and helps his students anyway that he can.He reviews things for the test.Highly recommended.
best teacher
excellent teacher highly recommended
Good teacher. Not the clearest. But he helps you. His practice test are the same concept as real test. Study and you will do fine. He let's you make up one test. He's funny a little stubborn. But he also will take late hw.
The professor is excellent and very helpful he has made his class easy and if you pay attention you understand some studying must be done or you will fail otherwise he makes excellent jokes and references that help you memorize things his note are like the test and his reviews 100 % natch also he tells you what will be on the test =)
GREAT professor! He is always willing to help. He will let you make up tests and gives you helpful reviews. He offers extra credit. He doesn't mind late work...as long as it gets turned in and the work is correct. Just take notes, pay attention, do your homework, show up and study and you will do great!
Great Proffessor!!!
not a good teacher. I don't know what all these ppl are talking about that he is easy. He cannot explain himself at all. Students in my classroom were correcting him. He just reads out of the text book.
Very smart man, terrible teacher. Doesn't explain the material very well and he often talks down to students. It seemed he always made you feel bad for having asked. On the plus side he always let you make up your work with no penalty for being late, and his tests were straight forward, also with make up as an option.
If you don't understand something just ask him he is willing to help
great professor, he is willing to help and accept late works with out penalty. 4 tests and a final exam. As long you attend the class and study what he told you, you will do great.
OK so I'm still in the class and I got my first test tomorrow. But so far horrible. He speaks and won't stop to help anyone, he makes u feel stupid if u ask questions, and everything is a pop quiz. i HATE this class. hm
Read chapters, do homeworks, do extra problems in the book, memorize everything he tells you to, and you will make a good grade. HOWEVER, if you take CHEM I with him, take CHEM II with him. I went on to CHEM II at a University, and was completely unprepared. He teaches out of order, and all memorization, you will fail CHEM II at a university.
This professor is not preparing me for the next level in chemistry, i will drop the class because i need a teacher , not a person who criticizes students for asking questions, doesn't explain the book and never gives the ppt notes out on time to study. this is a wasted drop but he is a horrible professor and i don't have time or money poor quality.
this is the worst teacher i ever took like seriously, he gave you so much hw that he havent go over & he makes you feel stupid if you ask questions & Dont expect him to fully explains everything to you if you didnt ask "every single detail" about i. yes his test is somewhat easy but his grading system r horrible its not fair at all.
doesnt grade fair! constantly lost your hw & didnt give u credit for it unless u show it to him (hw is count as part of the test grade)!! Chem used to be my best class until i took him he wont explain every thing unless u asked him to, which he made u felt stupid. this is a self-study class. read the book do the hw n pray that he have yr hw graded
Let me set the records straight! This man knows what he is talking about, but doesnt know how to teach it.He'll only show you the tip of the iceberg and expect you to know the whole thing immediately after he teaches you. He rarely puts things into perspective. He makes you feel uncomfortable to ask questions. He treats questions as ignorance.
very hard teacher. you have to really commit to earn a decent grade. he makes you regret asking questions. but overall is organized, and very knowledgeable on the subject. he grades fair and helps out students that are having a hard time. he's understanding if you just talk to him. just make sure you do your homework and you'll do fine
All Chemistry is hard if you don't study! Very helpful professor if you are lost visit him during office hours!
I'm in his class right now-next week is the final. Okay, Jenkins knows the material but is not a good instructor. Not to be funny, but he acts a bit like a robot and quite weird. Also, he quickly corrects/embarrasses students who say the wrong things in class. However, he does accept late work w/o counting off.
first of all chemistry is a hard subject but this professor is moderately ok... he expects you to read the text book and I read the chapter and does help and he assign homework online which help you out.. in class he'll pick on you but overall if you catch him in his conference hours he'll teach you if you have any problems with any area in chem.
Boring, no personality teacher. At least 2 pop quizzes a day over problems he goes over once. Embarrasses you if you have wrong answer. You must do 20-30 question homework assignments everyday for little extra credit. Moves extremely fast in lessons. I do not recommend this teacher. If you miss one day, you miss alot. Bad at explaining the lessons.
It was the worst experience to take this guy in sanjac. I am not a lazy person and my GPA is 4.00. My suggestion is not that guy with his egos. It was also funny that he really thinks he is doing a great job. If you want to ruin your class schedule, waste your time and money and to be stressful every class for his special pop qui, good luck then ??
I'm taking Chem two and he's okay, people who says do not take him are the lazy ones, he expects you to do your part as a responsible college student, study, and do homework. Um duh, that is what college is about. Do the homework, read the textbook, take notes in class and study and you should be okay.
Warn you... If you want to learn chemistry, look for someone else. Worst instructor ever and you will get lots of quizzes. Drop the other courses if you take this one. Otherwise, you name it.
Let me summarize this professor for you all -- Pop quiz every class, rushes through PowerPoint lectures, labs are long and include typing a paper for each one, tests are difficult (some questions are hard and are worth 15 points). Unless you are a chemistry freak, I HIGHLY suggest making friends and helping each other on lab assignments.
Cons - Gives Homework on Blackboard, In-class and in Mastering Chemistry and never notifies you. Gives Pop Quizzes every day. Gives an essay for each lab done, which are about 15 of them. Picky with grades. Rushes PowerPoint a lot. Pros - Lets you turn in late work. Extra credit. Half of the tests are pretty easy. Not a bad person, just teacher.
Good guy, slow talker and long lectures. Very knowledgable about Chemistry and very helpful if you ask. There is a fair amount of work but no more than you should expect as a college student.
He has long lectures and exams are tuff. It was very difficult for me but I figured out to late in the semester that it helps so much to just go talk to him after class. He really wants his students to succeed.
Took the 5 week summer class Covered A LOT of material in a day. Gave pop quizzes but he usually lets you change your answer Most of the grade depends on your exams, the rest is quiz and homework grades. He makes you write a lab report for every single lab but it's not that bad, he mostly looks at the data sheet. Final replaces lowest exam grade!
Good teacher, most of the time he makes jokes but no one really think he's joking because he looks too serious. The class looks like a hard class at first but it really isn't. You just have to have a study group out side class and that will help tons - YOU'LL PASS WITH B+. He accepts late work, quizzes, etc. don't turn them in incomplete!
Gives Good feed back.
I got an A. His quizzes helped me study for tests.
Jenkins is a good person. But he is not a good professor. He does not convey the material clearly nor accurately sometimes. He is slow in lecture. He will get on to you if you ask a "dumb" question but keep asking them, he really wants you to. Tips: DO THE HOMEWORK, it's review and xtra-cred, & VOLUNTEER if you can to get involved. Also TRY.
Prof. Jenkins expects you to put forth effort and study for the class & if you don't, well you wont pass. He's a fair grader, gives lots of extra credit and will happily help you IF YOU ASK. Not amazing at lectures but you wont ever see something on a test he didn't discuss in class.
Easy A class, he sucks at lectures but his tests are easy if you study. Watch YouTube videos cause he doesnt break it down in class. He expects you to know the material. You will have a quiz everyday in class but he gives you the answer so easy 100. Textbook HW is extra credit which is 10 points on each test so do it! You will do lab reports too.
Jenkins is a good person. I took Chem 1311 and 1312 with him. chem 1 was pretty easy but the second was definitely more challenging. He gives a lot of pop quizzes but he gives the answers so those are pretty easy. Lectures are not amazing but everything he goes over will be on the tests. hes easy on lab grades & doesnt deduct points forlate work
Good person, challenging and easy on lab but watch out for pop quizzes
He is very understanding and helpful but can be a little sarcastic in a funny way. You will pass as long as you do the work even if you do bad on a test and even allows you to turn in work late to get full credit. There is a lot of homework but its worth doing to help your grade. However, his lectures are boring. Study for tests!!.
I took this course during the summer which I highly recommend. There is no time to forget the material compared to taking it in the fall or spring semester. He gives a lot of extra credit which helps when it comes to exams. Instead of lab exams there are lab reports for each lab. Creating a study group for this class helps.
Great professor, he deserves a better rating than what he has! Take him!
One of the best professors I have taken. I was hesitant to take him at first because of all the bad reviews, but I'm glad I did. He cares about his students, and will do anything to help them succeed. I took it for the summer, so if you can take over the summer do it. You do have to put in the work. He won't just give it to you. Offers extra credit
The class is oriented in such a way that the students must apply themselves and inquire about the topics in question on their own. The lectures are brief, textbook reading is a must, and there will be many lab reports. Contrarily to the preceding comments, he gives a lot of extra credit and is very charitable with his time outside of class.
Overall, Professor Jenkins is the perfect example of a great person yet a horrible professor. He barely put grades in which is worrisome when your trying to evaluate what you need to do to pass. Next, we had to pay up to 50 dollars to do homework in this course. WHAT KIND OF COURSE MAKES YOU PAY FOR HOMEWORK?! Lastly, he just was very unorganized.
He is the worst teacher I've ever met. He never responds to emails. Class is confusing and you will learn more by looking it up then going to class which makes him useless if you are trying to learn. He will embarrass you if you don't know something or ask a 'dumb question'. Drop him asap if you are enrolled in one of his classes!
Definitely plays favorites, so get on his good side or else he will pick on you when he has questions or your grade will be lower than everyone else. You will do lots of homework, but if you have chegg they should all be on there even for the tests. Will take him for Chem 2 because hes overall easy. He is a dedicated Christian and you will know it
DO NOT take this professor. especially if you have other options, choose another professor. I'm usually good at my science classes however his class was not it. Poor lectures, takes forever to put in grades, never responds to emails. If your a science major and want to learn, DON'T take him. you WILL end up teaching your self.
Professor Jenkins, is a great professor he enjoy teaching and likes to make jokes. Daily grades and online homework is a must. Grading is fair and likes for his students to participate in lecture. I would defiantly take him for Chem 1312.
Professor Jenkins is a very caring. Do your work and you will pass. Test are not hard. Each test has part A multiple choice and part B 2-4 problems with you have to show your work. Took professor for chem 1301 and 1302.
Probably the worst professor I've ever had, and coming from a science major. Very unorganized and seems to just make assignments and quizzes at random. He does not respond to emails and takes weeks to grade. Many of the lectures are not done very well and I find myself teaching myself most of the material on my own. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR !
I dont know how old this professor is but girl if you are eligible to retire just do it honey. With that being said just dont take his class.
Worst professor! You are going to be teaching yourself with YouTube and other things. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS ...
Professor Jenkins makes you earn your grade. Attendance was required (online) and participation during lecture was definitely appreciated. There was a LOT of homework, the plus side is that usually meant you were well prepared for tests. His email response time improved greatly between Chem1 and 2. My biggest complaint was his lack of organization.
I took Jenkins for both Chem 1 and 2 over the summer. While there were initially growing pains from shifting to a distance learning platform he continued to adapt his approach to teaching as he learned what worked for us and what didn't. He demands a lot of you, but if you are willing to put forth the effort you'll be fine.
Mr. Jenkins only answered 3 out of the 20 emails I sent him. He was very rude to students when we didn't respond due to a lack of teaching. Not to mention he always forgot to post things or announce assignments were open. He made the majority of assignments open until 6 PM. Test are timed and he is not great with technology. If you can DON'T TAKE!
Jenkins is 100% not a good professor. He is a terrible communicator. Good luck trying to reach out to him for help via email because he won't answer, and you'll be lucky if he remembers what you asked him about during class. His teaching style is "if you don't understand, i can't help you". If you struggle with chemistry, I don't recommend him.
This professor is the worst professor I have ever met. He never replies emails. Very emotional. If he likes you, he will give you extra credits for just asking a stupid question. And if he hates you, he will ignore and never listen to you and never answer your questions. He expects you to know everything. You should read other comments too.
He sometimes does take a while to respond to emails but is very understanding. His exams are easy as long as you watch his lectures. Easy class and good professor.
Absolutely atrocious, I will never take this professor again. The schedule he puts up doesn't follow the grade book so randomly you'll receive a 0, plus he doesn't even read his emails. The material in the class is easy but the way he explains it is extremely slow, additionally, he expects you to show all the steps to get an answer even if its 1+1.
Absolute worst professor I've had at San Jacinto. He's incredibly unorganized, gives random pop quizzes with no announcements, harsh grader, and doesn't even respond to emails. You will end up teaching yourself the course material. His lectures are long, boring and he asks dumb questions throughout it. Worst lecture experience ever.
His grading system does not make sense at all, the assignments are never posted in time and they never go by the schedule. His voice is very low and hard to understand so most of the time it would be difficult to hear him specially in a big class. The material is fairly easy but the way he explains it makes it difficult and very hard to understand.
He was awful he would just post work and not help or explain the work and if you had a question about the work he would insult you for not knowing the work if I could rate negative stars I would have -5/10 stars
Well, where do I start? Very rude, unorganized, not very computer literate ( not a good thing when you're teaching an "online class"). He never posted a calendar so we didn't know when anything was due till the week, and sometimes the day of. His lectures are boring, monotone, want you to participate but gets mad when you ask questions? Just a no.
Prof Jenkins is a inspirational teacher, he will not baby you because he wants to set you up for success. He challenges students to start preparing them for future difficult classes especially if you are a STEM major. To succeed you need to refine your study method to know what works for you (trial n error). Now I am a physician thanks to him.
He is an okay professor. The homework doesn't really help build an understanding of the subject, but the lectures and examples he uses in class/textbook are pretty alright. Not the best, not the worst.
He didn't really teach much but at least he prepared you for the test.
WORST PROFESSOR AT SANJAC NORTH. NOT JOKING. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU HAVE THE OPTION. CANT HEAR HIM, CANT UNDERSTAND HIM. DOSENT WORK WITH YOU IN ANY WAY.
He isn't as bad as some of the reviews make him out to be. The class isn't too difficult, but it is a lot of information. As for the test, he will review, it the day before and help you understand the topics. Additionally, you could ask him for help, and he'll explain it in more detail. As long as you do the homework and try, you'll be fine.
man i am fixing to drop this course because i have no clue what this man is trying to say, he also looks at me stupid when i ask questions, i basically am teaching myself. i regret picking this course before i looked on here please don't be like me. save yourself the struggle.
I enjoyed his class. In lectures he often asked us to work things out and then discuss our answers. Constructive feedback and pretty laid back.
It was kind of hard to understand him, But he cares about the students. He is understanding and allows free credit options.
Not that bad of a professor. At first, it WAS a bit difficult to understand what he was saying (speaks low) BUT after the first two lectures, you get used to his speaking voice. Quick lectures (explain concepts, practice problems together, some on our own, and then review step by step) sometimes drops jokes, has extra credit opportunities, chill
