Really nice teacher but his assignment guidelines are very confusing. Start them early so you have time to ask for clarification. Lots of homework but its easy stuff. In general a good teacher, make lectures fun and interesting. Be prepared to speak up in class as he calls on EVERYONE
Lectures consisted of Powerpoints but he doesn't post them online. Only thing to study off was the textbook or Learnsmart. Seemed like a bare-minimum type teacher. At home, online quizzes through Connect. Midterm/final were pretty easy and mostly common sense. He calls people out to answer his questions in class. Miss 30% of classes and you fail.
Great prof. Study hard, come to class and enjoy some entertaining lectures.
He doesn't give any feedback on your work... In fact we didn't get a single graded assignment back all semester. He doesn't post the slideshows after class and doesn't leave them up long enough for you to take proper notes. I would not recommend this prof nor would I take any of his courses again. The haven't gained any knowledge from this course.
Classes are great and always fun. Treats you like an adult and has high expectations. If you do the work you'll do well. Always willing to help!
Teaches awfully. Does not return homework (no grade). Calls you out -makes you look dumb. The class is homework heavy and prof light. Meaning he relies on Connect/Learnsmart for teaching and the quizes/exams. Cannot copy slides and he blasts thru materials. Extremely vague on final exam material. Students are customers not children. Avoid!!!!
Two obvious things about his class. First, he clearly enjoys the subject matter. Second, he has lots of experience in marketing. That, combined with his humour, made classes enjoyable and interesting. Put some effort into it, study hard for the exams and you should be fine. And avoid missing classes, otherwise you will scramble.
Be ready to NOT KNOW your grade before going into midterm and final exams. The lecture slides are not available online and the pace of lectures is fast as well. Throughout the whole semester he only marked 2 assignments out of 5 and not even on time. Does NOT provide feedback on your assignments so you don't know how you're doing in class. DON'T!
I really enjoyed having Benny as a professor. I think he has a great sense of humour. Really funny and not a boring guy at all. He's good at explaining and providing meaningful feedback. I miss his class... and almost feel like switching my program into business because it was really a fun course!
Don't. Just don't.
Do it. Just do it.
The class had a waitlist in the beginning then gradually a lot of people dropped. He didn't let us know our midterm marks before the dropping date. As well, he takes quite a long time to mark things. Doesn't upload notes. Not easy to reach. Overloading us with homework. Majority of class did not even pass the midterm.... Don't do it
The class is easy , but the work load is too much . Learn-smart, quizzes , case studies , assignments , report , presentation , marketing simulation game, game report. Only choose if ready to give up your weekends .
make students heavy-loaded with everyday assignment and weekly so time-consuming online-test while make the instructor self easy and light, marking very few assignments and so late, just going through ppt slides in class; midterm and final are super difficult which is far beyond the course text, besides, not a general marker at all. SO MEAN!
AVOID THIS INSTRUCTOR AT ALL COST! If Introductory marketing is harder than 4000+ level business course, there is seriously something wrong. Can't skip class, doesn't post anything online, exams harder than law course, late or unavailable in office hour, miss any assignment/case/exam you fail the entire course. Don't get deceived by his humor.
Too many quizzes, online test, Simulation games, weekly and final report, presentation, not marking things on time. His class requires so many works done. I don't think this is the 1st level of MARK. I would say it could be level 3 or 4. Please don't take his class. Save your $$$
Midterm was extremely difficult. A lot of workloads. Tricky marker! He didn't mark assignments all time. Assignments: 2 cases, Learnsmart, 4 online tests, 1 midterm, 1 final exam, simulation game Mon-Friday, weekly report, final report, presentation...... Be prepared to give up your day off.
I definitely recommend his classes. Very good prof with lots of real marketing experience. If you are willing to apply yourself, you will do well. I am taking another course with him next term and - fact - many others as well. And I'm looking forward to it!
Great professor! Benny's classes are interesting and easy to follow. He does explain things in class, just make sure you do your homework and assignments. Also make sure not to miss any classes, pay attention and you'll be able to ace this course. Mid-term is hard but doable - just practice for essay exams.
Very interesting classes. Super knowledgeable. Caring professor.
Great Prof! Huge passion for his job. Very helpful and cheerful. Textbook used very often. Always give updates on tests and dates. He is a bit harder prof than my others, but if you follow the text, take good notes and use the online tools, you will be successful.
Excellent! Fun! Informational! I will certainly register for his upcoming courses this Fall.
Benny is a pretty good prof overall. Although he may come off as strict, you will see the way he does things is for students to learn rather than to completely excel in the course. To add, he knows what he is talking about and his jokes are a hit or miss. Overall, Benny is a pretty good prof.
He's lectures are easy to follow nothing fascinating. Not transparent on his grading system. No term project, simulation game, finals and participation grades given to students. You'll learn from him, his lectures would add ideas about the topic if you read the book. His exams are easy.
Benny is passionate about marketing, if you've taken intro marketing this course is not too hard. A downside to this class is that he does not post his lectures online, you need to keep up with your notes in class. He keeps the lectures as interesting as he can, but they can be a bit dry.
One of the best profs in Douglas College. He's super nice, humorous and always cares about his students. Great class discussions. Fair grader.
He gives case study in exam. Questions are generally 16 marks each and he won't give you more than 8-10 marks even if you write perfectly. He don't upload marks in Blackboard and just gives you final grade during semester end !
Have to give atleast 1 point out of 5 so giving it, else "Zero" suits him the best. Hope you got the hint...
I took Intro Marketing with Benny and it was a great experience. No complaints! I should add that the textbook, "Mindtap" and simulation are mandatory across all sections, so regardless of which prof you choose for 1120, you will still need to buy the same material. Just check the bookstore website for any section and you'll get the same results.
Cool and relaxed lectures, 2 long group assingments. Participation is important to make yourself seen by the professor. Easy Exams for those who minimaly studies. Professor is super acessible and friendly.
His lectures were interesting and conducted well but benny does nit give clear instructions on assignements and expect lots of surprises on tests.
Mr. Hakak is a great professor and I really enjoyed taking Sport and Event Marketing with him last Fall. Lots of great discussions, real-life scenarios, and interesting assignments. Highly recommended!
Benny takes all the fun out of what should be a good class. Too many papers, assignments, case studies etc. If you were going to take sports marketing because you thought it would be fun, DON'T.
Overall good teacher. if you have any questions as them in class/office hours because reaching him outside class isn't a thing. his lectures aren't super boring which is nice. He doesn't post his lectures online though which I extremely didn't like.
Benny is one of the best professors at Douglas College. He knows the course very well by the book and from his professional experience. You will definitely learn a lot from his class. He checks the class's attendance regularly and gives marks fairly. Take his class, you would not regret it.
Overall he was pretty funny and kind but the workload was overwhelming at times. You have to work hard for a good mark just like any other class. Not an easy A if you want to take this course for that reason.
Benny is rude to students, will give negative feedback only on work and never say anything good, never even put course content on bb even before final exam (when he said he would then ignored email), obnoxiously strict about cameras for online class, gives way too many assignments, I learned nothing from his class (very boring)...I could go on...
As a professor, you have the chance to make a great impact on the life of your students, guide students into a successful career and create a memorable experience. I will always remember Benny as the worst professor I ever had.
I had a great time in this course. Surely this was the one I've learned the most this term. Professor Benny was always available after class and clearly was trying to bridge the gap between online and offline learning.
Benny was one of the best profs I've had this term. Friendly, always available, provided me with straightforward feedback and marked my assignments fairly.
Benny is unlike most of the other profs at Douglas College. Why? - He cuts off students when they are speaking. - He acts very full of himself and enjoys putting students on the spot without warning. - If you ask him about projects or tests, his response is "I don't know". - He genuinely does not care whether a student does well or not imo.
Great class!! Lectures were fun and interesting. He makes it easy to understand marketing.
Great class. I'm not a fan of online classes in general, but I really appreciated Prof. Hakak's hard work during class and his effort to make our class entertaining. I learned a lot from his lectures as well.
Even thought the class was online due to the pandemic, I actually enjoyed this course. That was a direct result of Professor Benny's effort to deliver virtually what I assume he usually delivers in a regular, in-person class.
Great topic, great prof and overall great class. Debates were very insightful. Highly recommended!
Good course. Great prof. Interesting topic. Be sure to participate in the class discussion period to increase your participation mark and invest more than the usual time in your presentations prep. It will be worthwhile.
Do not take his course. You will regret badly. Horribly!
The course itself was interesting and would take the course again but definitely not with Benny Hakak. He is impossible to reach through email, even though he says he will respond, he never does. His assignments are not very clear and he gives no feedback, just the overall grade on the assignments... that's if you even get the assignment back.
I wouldn't recommend this professor to anyone, he is rude, not organized, basically reads the slides in class, uses the same slides for all the courses he teaches, forces participation in a not-nice way and asks for cameras on all the time (pointless). It is not a hard course, but the professor makes it unbearable. He also NEVER replies to emails.
He is an amazing professor! Very easy-going and funny. He understands when students have problems and can be flexible when needed. I'm taking another class with him next semester because I really liked this past term. Very clear when explaining, and the tests are not hard if you follow classes.
do not miss the class. very knowledgeable in his field.
hi guys, if u dont come to class, dont take his class. you will fail. lol. nice lectures, but hard tests. good for someone that really want to learn. his lectures at least wont let u sleep.
Benny is extremely knowledgable in this field. His lectures are quite heavy but I found them to be really interesting and he never fails to make it a fun lecture. He really makes you think of what you've learned throughout the course so that you can apply it properly in the assignments and exams. Makes it tough but it'll really help you understand.
Very experienced! Amazing person and professor.
impossible grader, ridiculous term projects, quizzes extremely difficult for no reason.
Benny is nice as an instructor, creative on teaching approach but I'd not recommend him if you have more than 3 classes in a semester, his class requires full effort. What I did not like in this class is the Wiley Plus textbook. The textbook is written very obscurely and has so much unnecessary wording. So you sometimes lose the chain of thought.
This professor was the reason that I had a very bad impression of Douglas College when I took his class in my first semester. Traditional class with no device allowed, no slides just your pen and paper. But none of these were important for me but his attitude with students. Just don't take his class.
Great prof, gives participation marks and prepares you well for the exams. Wants you to succeed therefore transform the classroom into a great learning environment.
Does not allow laptops or electronics for note-taking. Rudely interrupts students while they're talking and trying to add to the discussion. Class examples are decades old. Unclear assignment guidelines and then he makes you feel like an idiot for not following guidelines that weren't even there. Will not take again.
I genuinely loved having Benny as my intro to marketing professor. He was my first step into the program, and he made me want to keep pursuing it. Though he is a tough marker, especially during exams, his lectures were always entertaining and made sure I learned a lot. He gave me awesome feedback, and my class was so happy and fun.
he was my first ever MARK prof, u can't take pics, and no slides are uploaded, but he explains everything clearly. take notes during class, read the textbook, and don't forget about weekly reports, there are also weekly tests I loved the simulation and became the best-selling company, but buying both textbook and the sim access code was sad...
Worst instructor I have ever had. Rude, condescending and power-hungry. Won't let you use laptops or tablets for notes, all have to be written with pen and paper. Unclear guidelines, doesn't actually teach, makes you print out assignments filled with images in coloured ink (even though you have to submit online too). Would not recommend at all.
He really knows his stuff and can teach very well. But you need to read a lot, do online tests each week, and prepare a pretty detailed term project. He also never lets you know your grade during class so you dont know how he grades. Even after the class, you need to request the breakdown.Interesting and hard person, you may afraid to ask questions.
He is a tough grader, did not give us any grades for the assignments, and midterms throughout the whole semester. It turned out to be one of the lowest grades I got in the program. Stay away from him if you would like to have a high grade. He had a tendency to interrupt the students talking when he did not agree with them. Not recommended!
His knowledge of digital marketing is old. Asks to email assignments to him and then you wont see it, forget about feed back! Has office hours but he doesn't like students use it. Unorganized, late to most classes. Many other super qualified accomplished professors, I do recommend to take a different professor.
One of the worst professors I have ever had. Power hungry, controlling, unkind and disrespectful. Would not recommend taking him. His tests and quiz are too difficult with time constraints. He has unrealistic expectations and puts a lot of pressure on his students. He won't let you use phone/laptops in class, wouldn't even let you talk to others.
The most procrastinating professor I have ever seen in my entire life. Imagine half of your work during the semester not giving score and feedback, and you basically receive a random letter grade out of nowhere at the end. Tough grader and tough lecturing. Shows every little respect to students. AVOID at all costs.
His classes are not only enjoyable but also lively and dynamic. However, when it comes to exams and grades, he maintains high standards, expecting a significant level of effort and proficiency.
would not suggest to any of my friends ever.
The class is not suitable for those with an IEP due to its lack of organization, unclear expectations, and rude attitudes. The class is confusing and stressful, and the instructor's speed and lack of understanding of others capabilities is concerning. Who runs a marketing class and dosn't allow computers.
The course was filled with too many small assignments, causing stress and difficulty managing other classes. Benny was rude when I asked questions, making me feel disrespected. He was often late, disrupting the class, and deadlines were unclear with conflicting dates. This created confusion and added to the disorganization.
Would not wish taking this class on my worst enemy. I am a straight-A student and this is my first C. He is so bad
The pace of the class, combined with a lack of consideration for students' individual capabilities, is deeply concerning and demotivating. This has been such a negative experience that I wouldn't recommend this class or this professor even to my worst enemy. I hope the college considers this feedback to improve the quality of teaching in the future
Good class. Class content was clear. Guidelines are all easily accessible. Exams are straightforward. Great class discussions. Professor Hakak is very easygoing and approachable. Just be ready to take notes, not miss classes -- and leave your laptops at home (not allowed in class).
He was a quite funny guy and his classes were generally interesting. Be ready to take a lot of notes in class though because his exams are only on what he covers in class and he doesn't cover everything in the textbook. The midterm was quite difficult but the final exam was not bad because you got to make a cheat sheet with whatever you want on it.
He is a tough professor but his lectures are really helpful and realistic. Just concentrate on the course and take note you will be fine.
He is probably the worst prof I've ever had, first he doesnt allow any screens, laptops, etc under no circumstances. He is very boring and unengaging and also tends to interrupt students mid sentence when they raise their hands. He doesnt upload his slides on blackboard so if you miss a slide good luck. Oh and he includes lectures after midterms.
Benny assigns a lot of homework which wouldn't be a big deal if he didn't assign it through three different sites, where two of the sites feel more like busy work rather than helping learn the class material and the way the due dates are set up makes it impossible to get it all done at once, but instead in smaller blocks throughout the week.
He is one of the best professors i've ever had. I can't believe there are students who don't like him. He is just awesome, i had so much fun in his classes and learned a lot as well, everything he taught was useful and interesting. Definitely a 10!
He is one of the best profs in Douglas. Although he doesn't allow use of any devices or upload slides on Blackboard, you will be fine if you have a note ready. Exams are mostly based on the textbook, and very simple multiple choice questions.
This was the worst course (MARK-4235). Despite being a digital marketing class, laptops and eBooks were banned. The group project had excessive instructions but no feedback was ever given. Only the final grade was posted, with no breakdown. One assignment even required paying for WordPress and submitting proof. Very unprofessional.
Benny is just a tough grader and his slides doesn't help with the exams. Expect a lot of homework and not using your devices in class. Pretty nice overall just wouldnt take his class again
This was my second class with Prof. Hakak. He is all right, especially if you show interest. Class is fine. Content is clear. Good discussions. Just keep in mind the following: a - He will not allow you to take notes using your laptop. b - Forget about cellphones during class. c - He will not provide power point slides. d - And don't miss classes.
Benny's class was not engaging, I found that he called out students a lot with the intention of embarassing them, you can only take notes on pen and paper and he talks the entire 2 hours and 50 minutes of the class so it's hard to retain information. Definitely would not take his class again.
If you want a boring class thats 2 hours and 50 minutes long take this. The way he teacher is not engaging, don't even bring an electronic device or you will be called out in front of the class, and don't ask any questions or he'll just tell you to look at the syllabus. He can often seem rude to students. I would recommend other professors.
I don't have anything against him personally, he's a chill and funny guy, but a horrendous professor. Slides cover the most basic concepts in the chapters, multiple choice test answers were ridiculously similar and hard to distinguish, not to mention questions being on there that weren't taught (which he admitted to).
He is horrid! Be careful.
Class was very disappointing. The professor wasn't engaging at all, no technology (are we in 1980?), and called students out for using laptops. His slides had too much text while criticizing ours. Tests were pure memorization, and grades came only at term's end. Avoid him at all costs.
Be ready to buy the textbook, pay for the simulation, do multiple group presentations, and complete tons of assignments, with little to no feedback all semester. Participation depends on bringing weekly news. No devices allowed, handwritten notes only. Exams are 50 MCQs in 40 minutes on LockDown, which is brutal. Cool subject, terrible execution.
I bealive Benny has a good heart. But he shouldnt be a professor, he lacks patience and whenever u ask a question he makes u feel dumb for even asking. Lots of homework, 3 different simulations all with different due dates for assignments. No feedback at all on ur work! He will tell u how many questions on exam(if he does) n nothing else.
Decent guy, but TERRIBLE prof. No electronics allowed, doesn't upload slides, exams aren't based on the textbook Seems to have some ego or superiority complex, called out students for being late or on their device. Only allows written notes. Overall bad professor, students often complained about him among themselves. gives minimal breaks.
Lectures are horrible and poorly organized, offering little help in understanding the material. There is no feedback during the semester, and grades are withheld until the very end. Project and simulation grades are not returned, and no electronic or modern learning tools are used. Avoid this professor.
The professor gave very poor feedback and almost none on projects, making it difficult to learn or improve. The class was mostly him talking with no engagement, which made it boring and unhelpful. I was excited to take this course, but the instructor's teaching style made the experience very disappointing. If you can, choose a different professor.
Although I was initially unsure about the no-technology policy in class, it ultimately helped me focus better. The workload was demanding, but it strengthened my understanding of the material. A bit more feedback would have been helpful, but I truly enjoyed the course and found Benny to be caring, approachable, and very knowledgeable in his field.
If this guy is a professor I'm a NASA austronaut, they could put a wood stick on his place
The worst ever professor I had. He is definitely a media guy rather than a marketing person. I'm ok with his person but hate his teaching style. His instruction is difficult to read and follow, not only me but others all have questions about his instructions and then we had to ask each other what it means. And he doesn't reply emails quickly.
One of the worst professor I had in my life, how do you give a digital marketing class without computer? 90% of the time you have to listen to this guy read slides
