she is boring. she's a nice person but she talks too much about her personal expirences and not enough about writing well. if ou want to learn about being african american then take this class. you'll love it.

Such an evil course. Never was clear on assingments, never handed out course sylibus, and when having group discussions, she would just cut them off.

I think she means well, but I hated her class. It is all about topics that have nothing to do with what should she be teaching. I did not learn one single thing about writing. She was too confusing. It took her the whole class to explain something.

SAVE YOURSELF! She is terrible, probably the worst professor I've had in all three years. Be prepared to talk about disadvantaged minorities and nothing else. Ambigious with what she wants/expects.

She is full of useless knowledge and makes sure to tell you all of it. Has one on one conversations with students during class time. This class was a waste of my time and money...I got a 3.4 but do not recommend her to anyone.

Even though i got a good grade in her class I could NOT stand it. She was very much so into attendance and telling meaningless stories about things that no one cares about. She is also VERY opinionated. NEVER disagree with her otherwise that insures your bad grade.

SHES THE WORST TEACHER IVE EVER HAD! She is extremely **** and only likes the black students. Every class the topic of racism comes up. I dont know how. She has her favorites and if your not one of them, your screwed. She is unclear about all her assignments.

If your not one of her favorites it shows. She grades you 10x harder. Discussions made me want to kill myself. Completely off subject discussions and don't even try to ask her a simple question. The simple yes/no question brings 45 min of her talking about God knows what.

If youre on her good side, you have nothing to worry about...for everyone else she will find soemthing wrong no matter what..if u miss more than 3 classes she marks down your grade and the class discussions will definately put you to sleep

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE TEACHER!!!! DO NOT TAKE HER, UNLESS YOU'D LIKE WASTING TIME LISTENING TO HER BABBLE NON-STOP! Yeah there is few assignments, but the one's she assigns are so out of the blue-like an essay on "what did mlk jr. have to do with you?" We didn't even get our syllabus until a month after class started! Worst teacher i've had by far!!!!

OMG WORST TEACHER EVER!!!Aparently she thinks we come to class to hear her life story. We watched a movie about walmart one day and never did anything with it afterwords. this class was the biggest waste of my life.

She is NUTS, DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!! She babbles on incessently, tells like a million stories. Every time she opened her mouth i just felt my eyes glaze over. She picks favorties, asks your opinion on something and then tells you you're wrong and she's right and she changes your words around. Gives random assignments and we never got a syllabus.

Easiest teacher you will ever have in your life!! I promise all you do, is sit there and listen to her talk forever! yes it's boring, because she is extremely scatter brained, but you don't have to do any work. I also had her for rht 150 and we wrote a total of 3 essays the whole semester, compared to my friend in other class who wrote 16 essays.

Very unclear and will not even help you on papers. she does not liek anyones idea except her own. trying to write about yourself? lie. she wants people who have died and come back to life stories.

She is **** against white people and calls people out in the middle of class. By far, the WORST teacher I have ever had in all of my years of education. She is very ignorant, but thinks she knows everything.

on the second day of class she picked on me so much in front of the whole class that as soon as the class ended i went to my car and cried. Everything she talks about is her opinions on subjects that are not related to the class. WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. I hated the class and the teacher.

hate her! picked on me the whole time! had to come to class or you would be marked down. there were 4 weeks in the class where it only pertained to her asking what our research topics were. That would take an hour and a half! lame!

Easy class, but all she does is sit there talking the whole entire time. You write papers but never turn them in. We don't even learn anything. She takes attendance though so you have to attend. Switch out of this class if you can!!

Pretty laid back, but completely pointless class. We were assigned five papers, and only turned in two, one of which ended up being our final exam grade. She takes attendence everyday, which is how she grades, so you MUST go to class. If class is canceled, she doesn't notify you, so make sure it's not your only class that day. DON'T TAKE HER!!!

This class was the biggest blow off of my life. She assigned my class about 5 papers, and we turned in 3 of them. We never received a syllabus, she never gave us our papers back with feedback. She would never notify us if class were canceled. She would pick on her students. You had to attend class in order to passs! She was a horrible professor!

I took that teacher in Orchard ridge campas as ESL teacher.Bad teacher. She say something in the class. but when she grade she graded about somthing she didn't explain before the test.

Hands down the worst professor I have ever had. Every class she ranted about some irrelevant topic and nobody ever fully understood what our next paper was supposed to be about. When I went to class to turn in my final paper, she took one look at it and told me to fix my thesis and add sources. NEVER take her. Shouldn't be teaching.

She doesn't explain any of the assignments, she talks all class period about nonsense that doesn't relate to anything, and is very disrespectful to students who miss classes. This professor explains the assignments vaguely. She is a professor that becomes off topic. She is disrespectful to students, she interrupts them while the student is in mid sentence of the questions and does not answer the questions. I am a student that can tolerate every teacher I had but she is the only professor I have ever had that I can't

This professor makes no sense at all. Talks in circles and is rude. It's an easy pass class, but so boring that watching paint dry sounds like a party.

This prof makes no since what so ever. if I could rate her a zero I would. She is not helpful what so ever. DO NOT BOTHER ASKING QUESTIONS! She gets offended when you do so and completely disregards the question, or will try to answer your question, and three words in will be on a completely different topic! She also can be VERY rude to students.

Very poor teaching skills, she was extremely vague with projects and assignments, any time you asked a question she only made you more confused, the lectures were pointless and random the only reason to go to class was to either turn a paper in, find out when a due date was or just to get your credit for showing up, other than that, it's pointless

The requirements for the assignments were not clear. I could not figure out what she wanted from me?! Be prepared to do everything on your own. Her comments to the papers were not clear. She is hard to predict. Took her over the summer, the semester is over, and still I do not know my grade. She always extended the due dates.

Grade Relies on 3 essays. Gives minimal to no feedback. Does NOT stay on topic. Directions on what is assigned are never clear. Talks about personal political views more than course material. Great Human being, very down to earth. Overall not the best teacher.

Shes the worst teacher Ive ever had. Buckle in for 2 hour lectures that have nothing to do with writing and everything to do with her life. She cant stay on course and appears to not even attempt to stay on course. There is no set due date. It doesnt matter if you have your homework done or not.

She is the worst professor I have ever had. I thought this class was going to be a breeze but this woman made it awful. Instead of emailing her she requests that you text her. When you ask for guidance she goes on tangents about her life. 0/10 recommend. Does not grade things for a month and half. Class is basically hearing about her life.

She is a terrible professor. I would highly recommend not taking her. When I had her class she made everyone in the class have private meetings with her just so she could speak to us about her life. She also takes months to grade papers and is very inconsistent with what she wants. She does not allow you to email her and never answers questions.

There was barely any instruction with a lot of random babbling. Questions were not answered and nothing was graded until the point of no return.

Bernadette is a sweet person but as a professor is horrible. Goes off on tangents for more than an hour that are usually racially or politically charged. I was one of her favorite students, she referred other student to me to help them but was a tough grader. Never worked in class, wasted time and make you redo papers till she likes them.

She tries being very nice, comes off as rude and inappropriate towards differnt students. In class she doesn't speak of anything related to papers we are working on. Due dates are very confusing and she doesn't explain anything well. Confused the whole semester and never puts grades in. Switch teachers if you get her, she sets you up for failure

Here's the tea. If you want any chance of being successful in this course, do not, and I repeat, DO NOT take this course with Bernie. She's nice, but she can't teach to save her soul. She goes off on tangents and can't explain projects for crap. If you're currently sitting in her class reading these reviews I'm so sorry for you. Turn back now.

This is a horrible professor. Can't teach. Horrible at explaining material. You might as well just teach yourself how to write. Rude, incompetent, disrespectful. If you have the option to take someone else. TAKE IT!!

I would never take a class with her again. She does NOT outline clear due dates, and lectures about things that have nothing to do with the class. She never clearly states what she wants from a project and then grades very harshly.

She decides to waste class time by telling useless anecdotes and grilling students. It doesn't help when her instructions are massively unclear and she doesn't grade anything until the end of the semester. I'm writing this the weekend after classes ended, and I just received a notification that she graded an assignment from the first week of class.

This professor is the worst professor I had my whole life. She doesn't know how to teach, will let you go early A LOT of times, you won't learn much. The only time you learn is when you have to revise your papers because YOU WILL HAVE to revise, no matter how perfect you think your paper is. She is very closed minded. Her lecture was not relevant to class material and she would babble for literally hours. When we asked her for clarification, she would blame us for our "generation not being able to retain information." The only reason the course was difficult was because she did not explain material well or keep due dates up to date. Moodle was not updated ever.

I will never take any class taught by her again. Reading the textbook was the only source for assistance and clarity. If you ask her she talks circles around you and never gives a clear answer. Extremely unorganized to the point that I was stressed out for her. Confusing due dates, literally one due date changed six times in 2 weeks.

This class was a nightmare. She doesn't understand how to use Moodle. She offers unclear instructions (if any) and gets upset when assignments aren't completed her way. Due dates were constantly changing. I had to set up 3 meetings with her for "attendance", during which she rambled on about her life instead of discussing my paper with me. AVOID!

This Teacher will lecture for an hour and all information is completely meaningless. It honestly feels like a waste of time to take attend class and if the class tries to move her along she gets offended. Also the writing topics in the class are extremely political if that is a turnoff for you.

Easily one of my least favorite professors. Very slow talking during lectures and confusion over technology. She is very political and will make you write about it. Camera must be on and attendance was taken. This was very difficult to sit through for 2 hours. Take anyone else.

Class with Bernadette was absolutely miserable. It was an online class, so I sat in front of my computer and listened to her manage to talk about nothing productive for two straight hours. The assignments aren't difficult, two papers and a handful of forum posts, but you will not get clear instructions. The writing center became my best friend.

She grades students for attendance through zoom and in those zoom meetings she talks about nonsense for almost 2 hours. She gives a lot of challenging coursework and it's easy to get lost and confused. Overall a VERY boring teacher and is very confusing.

This is by far the worst professor I have ever had She barely ever puts grades in, and when she does it's not clear why you received that grade. I am not happy to be paying for a class and listening to a professor ramble on about things not related to the class, especially when she could be using the time to provide feedback or grade our papers.

Consistently goes on tangents during class, all of which end up being completely unrelated to the topic at hand. Coursework consisted solely of three major projects and a final paper, so if you don't do well on one of them, good luck making it up. Takes forever to grade, and won't give feedback (relies on peer reviews). Find any other professor.

Avoid this class if you can. The professor tends to go off on tangents and the grading is very tough. The course is a slog, but using unstuck AI along with the textbook can help you get through it.

Took in Fall 2024. She would go on multiple 15+ minutes rants over both project related stuff and off-topic conversation, the latter being more common. Keep in mind these zoom lectures are almost 2 hours long. She takes way too long to grade papers and she didn't grade a paper from the beginning the semester until finals week. Avoid at all costs!

Avoid if you can. Class meetings are mostly her ranting, not helpful info. A 15-min meeting turned into 90 mins of personal stories instead of project guidance. On rough drafts, she gives comments, but after fixing them, she adds new ones like she didn't read the first. Grades harshly. Super frustrating.

At all costs do not take her! It is horrible It is December 4 and I still don't have any real grades from any of the three projects that we have. It is 1 week until the semester ends and I have half of the attendance in and 3 other things that moodle directly puts in such as syllabus quiz. Nothing is graded. Worst prof/teacher I've ever had.
