Great teacher. Very clear, makes things easy to understand. Always makes time outside of class to get together if you need extra help outside of her office hours. Cares a lot about the students learning and understanding of the course material. Highly recomended.

Bernadette made Chemistry fun. I know that sounds weird, but I hated the thought of having to take a science class prior to her class. I actually enjoyed the subject matter. She obviously cared about the students learning and wanted us to understand the material. We all really appreciate having such a talented professor at MHCC.

Chemistry is a very hard science and I didn't do very good, but this teacher is the best. She truely cares about her students and it is my own fault that I did not pass. You'd have to be a idiot like me not to.

Took the 5 week chem 103 class with Bernadette. Received lots of the information from the mhcc portal that she had set up.. She was always there to help you with any problems you had so that you could understand it. I enjoyed this class very much. But it is a tough class. 16 chapters in 5 weeks is a lot of information to absorb.

Awesome teacher! One of THE best on campus! Allows students to think outside the box and doesn't hinder or bias the education. If you come to class, listen, and do examples it's an easy A class. You'll love the prof! : )

Professor Harnish explained things very well in and out of class and the assignment instructions were very clear. Overall the most difficulty I had was with the course concepts themselves but if you pay attention in class and do all the coursework getting an A is very possible! Very nice instructor. I recommend her.

I was in a different chemistry class and after one week I knew I wouldn't learn anything with his teaching style... so I desperately e-mailed this other Chem teacher (Bernadette) who had great reviews and she let me switch into her class no problem (even though online the class was listed as "full").

This was my first class after 10 years of being out of school. She is the most amazing teacher and she gives you every opportunity to succeed. Because she posts her lectures on the portal, the one time I missed a class, I didn't fall behind. As long as you are willing to do the work, she will help you--help yourself.

Gives 4 exams and one final which is technically not cumulative but still has questions that refer to beginning of term material. Would def. take her again.

She is by far the best teacher I have had at MHCC and I have gone there for three years now! She was so helpful with everything. She gives quizzes each week instead of a midterm and final, and she provides practice quizzes that are almost exactly the same as the quiz. She is super understanding, offers help to everyone, etc. highly recommend her

I had Bernadette 3 terms of chemistry, she is my favorite professor so far in college! Very sweet, caring, kind, helpful, fun. Chemistry can be very challenging, but with a teacher like her it is fun and doable! The lecture notes are all online, so if you miss one class you will be fine. Chemistry test are challenging but she well prepares you.

Bernadette was a very good instructor. She stayed late every lab to ensure I would get 100% on labs. Provides plenty of practice problems as well. One downfall was that I had an A all term and she adjusted a lot of assignments at the end and gave me a B. But other than that a great instructor.

Bernadette's class is intense, but informational and well-prepared. She does give you the tools to easily pass via Portal, and will look over any of work before you turn it in. Only weekly quizzes. The labs can seem scattered, but aren't overly difficult. She's approachable and sweet to everyone. Not mandatory attendance, but highly recommended.

Bernadette is awesome! She is willing to look over any homework and assignments before you turn them in and will help you fix your mistakes and make sure you understand the material. We had weekly quizzes and homework assignments but as long you attend class and get help when you need it you'll do fine.

I personally like her style of teaching with PowerPoint presentations and taking notes. I had her for both CH 221/22 and she does a quiz every week, a midterm every three weeks, a lecture final and a lab final. Love!!

If you have the choice, choose Bernadette. You wont find another professor as sweet and caring as Bernadette. She makes it seem easy and will do her best to help you get a good grade. This is the most amazing professor I have yet got a chance to have in a science class. She gives a reasonable amount of homework, not hard at all. She's very caring, kind, and passionate about chemistry. Quizzes are every week, but very easy as long as you watch the lectures. If you got any questions she is open to answer those. The content gets kinda hard the last couple weeks but she explains everything in the lectures. Some lectures are long but if you watch everything then the assignments are easy. There are lots of extra credit opportunities and if you try on the homework she will give you partial credit even if you get the wrong answer. Good at lectures and accessible out of class. One of the sweetest people I've met, her enthusiasm for chemistry was apparent. Genuinely cares about and wants to see students succeed. But this course specifically has convinced me to avoid hybrid classes in the future, tons of difficult work and her personability was lost during the online lectures. Take her classes, but in person if possible.

I could not recommend Bernadette enough! She is super willing to help her students and wants them to succeed. Be ready to put in the effort, ask for help and attend office hours. Great professor but class set up is overwhelming. Easily 15-20 hours of homework a week, and you'll need to study flash cards and memorize terms on top of that. Sometimes her lectures felt rushed. However she is very kind and is always at her office hours, I'd take her class again but I wouldn't recommend her to a friend.

Loved taking her class! Concepts can get hard but she offers many practice problems during lectures and labs and gives many partial points.She offers recorded lectures which I asked for every week and they helped me recap for the homework and to thoroughly understand what we were doing in class.I only spent about 4 hours a week on take-home papers
