true that he can be a little anti-religion, but it doesn't affect the class. He tries hard to include everyone, not just native speakers. I have learned so much from his classes.

Bernie Manker was so funny, sometimes kinda corney, but that is forgivable. He's got mad professen' skills, if you want to learn spanglish you won't learn it from him, it's tough but he makes you want to learn spanish the correct way. Rockin' Mr. M!

I took 231, and it was helpful to have him for 232 because I knew what to study for and how the tests were set up. Again, will have to turn in a lot of compositions, participate in class (answering q's on the stories, etc.), and put in effort.

He is the best laguage teacher I have ever had. He is full of himself but I guess you can be when you know as much as he does. He is very funny.

Very knowledgeable, highly amusing, ran an entertaining class. I had an excellent time in SP 231 and 232. His sarcasm could go a bit far at times, but I didn't ever think he meant it - it was mean in jest and was funny. I really miss his classes.

Dude, this guy can be so funny! He likes to act out parts of the stories that we read in class. He's willing to answer any question you have, and he would never make you feel inferior for any reason. If you don't know an answer feel free to say "No Sé" and remember that you DON't need the "yo" in front!!!

One of the best teachers I've ever had. I took 101 over the summer, which means he had to get thru an entire semester in 3 weeks, and he did it brilliantly! 3 weeks later, I could speak Spanish. He definitely earned my respect, and I look forward to taking 231 with him this spring. If you get the chance to take one of his classes, do it!

Mr. Manker is my all time favorite teacher. His willingness to open himself up to us, and his high quality interaction with us was awesome! And on top of that, I actually learned some Spanish (equally awsome) He is a good teacher.

Sr. Manker is amazing! I've had him for 231 and now 232, I love it, its my favorite class. He is a great teacher! Don't slack, keep up on the stories but he is always willing to help if your not understanding! I'm only sad there arent any more classes to take with him!

Sr. Manker is very knowledgeable in both the language and the culture. His class is not for the faint of heart, but is most definitely worth it. You learn more than you expect you will if you apply yourself. Has a great sense of humor.

I had Prof. Manker about 10 years ago for Spanish 101,102,231 and 232. I then went on to a 4 year school and graduated with a degree in Spanish. Prof. Manker was probably the best Spanish teacher I ever had. Very enthusiastic and makes students feel comfortable and willing to try.

Great prof. If your not serious about the class you wont have fun. Gives a lot of hw but it relle makes u learn the material. He is absolutely funny and super helpful. He explains material well. Although hes a little unorganized it def makes the class less stressful. Absolute best teacher in the school ive had yet!

I decided to retake SP 101 because I took 101 and 102 with another professor before and hated it because she stunk. Decided to try again and had Sr. Manker. He rocked. He was very helpful and made the class very fun to be in. LOVED IT! wish he could teach all of my SP classes.

I love Professor Manker! He is funny and interesting- provides a lot more than just learning a language- he teaches you a lot about the culture as well. Enjoyed a class where speaking and listening in Spanish was encouraged, I really improved during this course! He can seem rude and pompous but you have to get to know him :D

Very cool quirky guy. This class takes a lot of work, but is very rewarding. Class itself is really fun and an easy way to get points so you might as well go. If your grades aren't what you would hope in the first couple of weeks, don't be discouraged because you'll get the hang of it soon. Over-all a great professor.

A great professor! It's a shame there is not more professors like him. He understands the language very well and he teaches it very well! He grades fairly too.

I have had Sr. Manker for three semesters, going on four. He is one of the best teachers I've had at GRCC. I love the class. There is a lot of work to it, but that goes with any class.

HE is a great person; very funny. But his class was very hard. I had hard time reading the stories, but it was not so clear when he went over them. He speaks spanish 99% of the class time, which helped me understanding spanish better, but it was very frustrating when he spoke in spanish while we were correting tests or going over the story.

Sr. Manker is THE funniest professor that I've ever had. If you have a sense of humor then you would love him! Apart from making the class fun the assignments were very clear and straighforward. He gives extra credit opportunities and if you show up and do the assignments then you should be fine, even if you struggle with the language.

He's by far my favorite professor I've had so far being in college. The class was fun and the environment made it easy to learn.

Do not take this class in the summer semester! The professor rushes through all material. You do not have time to really learn the material before you are being tested on it.

If you love a teacher with a great sense of humor, and gets the job done.. He's a GREAT choice! I'm currently finishing up my Sp101 semester with him, and will be back for Sp102. He's that good! :)

I had this professor for Spanish 231 which is an Intermediate course. it was easy, he explains things well and has great illustrations for the readings. Participation is a great portion of the grade , so make sure you get there everyday :)

I had him for SP 232. The class was easy and it was pretty laid back. He took a lot of time explaining lectures and stories, which made it boring yet clear. If you try hard and care about the class you will get an A. If you put in little effort you can still do well. He has a good sense of humor, overall I would recommend Prof. Manker.

He is more than willing to help if you ask for it. He has higher expectations for native speakers. If he can tell that you are struggling he will not mark you down for smaller mistakes to help you pass the class, rather he focuses on the main points that he wants you to understand. He needs to work on his organization skills.

Senor Manker was a really good professor for Spanish 231. He focused on grammar and compositions, and he was really tough on grading grammar. We read stories throughout the semester and he had detailed lectures on all of the stories. But, Senor Manker didn't emphasize speaking in Spanish as much as he went over listening, grammar, & composition.

He is absolutely hilarious. He really loves teaching. He could be confusing but he fixed it when somebody spoke up. EVERYBODY SHOULD TAKE HIM!

He is a really good professor. The majority of the homework you will receive in this class is translating the stories that are from the textbook and compositions. This class brings everything from SP101 and SP102 together and requires you to read and understand the language. I would recommend if you're even considering becoming bilingual.

A professor who commands respect. Do not talk outside of asking questions or engaging in group discussion in his class. He is highly competent and will give you the best Spanish language education possible. He thoroughly explains the "how" and "why" answers to your questions which is incredibly helpful when learning a foreign language. Incredible.

Very old fashioned, can be tough and strict and seem a little harsh or rude at times, try not to take it personally. Most of class is spend translating childrens stories and going over them, wish there was more interactive group work and speaking, listening. He has many life stories and is interesting to listen to. Overall a nice guy and good prof
