Class was interesting but based a lot on power points. Made subject interesting and fun for all who showed up.

This is the best teacher u can find. He is good at helping u understand. He does not like cell phones so when u go to class PUT YOUR PHONE ON VIBERATE!!!!! and do not sleep in class. DO those things and u will be good to go and u will get an A or B

He is an excellent profressor who bends over backwards to help make sure you get an A if that is what you want. He is very responsive, listens well if you need someone to talk toot nedd help. He is a stickler about class attendance and being on-time, as well as not texting etc on you cell. You couldn't have a better teacher or easier teacher as long as your on time. The class is very easy and simple and no need to buy the book just print out the powerpoint and write down as much notes as you want. He lets you use the notes in test. But only works if you take good notes. : )

Navarro is awesome. I'm currently in his Honors Sociology class, and it is my favorite class that I have had so far in college. He is so passionate and well informed about his subject, and keeps things very interesting and relevant to current college-age students. He is edgy and funny; even if you don't need the class, take it just to have him. :)

My major issue with his class was that he never took attendance, despite the fact he claims it to be so important. He was also falling behind schedule according to his syllabus. Instead of having a normal class this semester, he crammed like a months worth of assignments in the last 2 weeks. Expect to be stressed out taking his class.

Professor Navarro is a rare thing. He is a true academic. He will show respect to those he disagrees with, and he loves when students will engage thoughtful academic discourse. He's a liberal that loves Marx, I'm a conservative that loves Jesus, and yet there was mutual respect, because he is an academic, not a demagogue.

A very in depth and intriguing, as well as engaging, course on Native Americans in society. Lots of great topics to cover in the various books he uses, and you will never be disappointed when you come to class. A few papers here and there and quizzes so not bad at all. Maybe it's just me, but his teaching style is just too chill, strays off topic alot. I need some type of structure in a lecture. Not crazy about his tests, they're vague, the way he grades them is so weird, He throws extra credit all over the place so don't worry if you don't do well. Makes you raise your hand for everything, feels like HS.

Do your readings and you will do fine. The test is hard but it is possible to get the grade you want by studying hard and do the extra credit that he gives out. He is really cool and funny. Attendance is a big part of your grade.

love this professor! ive taken 3 of his classes and there all easy and fun. he let us use our notes during tests so theres no reason to fail. Beware for those who cant stay off there phone because he doesn't like them, they are not allowed out during class time and he will dismiss you from class if you are always on it.

LOVED THIS CLASS. This teacher is BAD ASS. Cares about modern issues today and really makes you think. Gets you fired up about topics you didn't even know you cared about. This class was super easy and very fascinating. If you want to learn about Native Americans then this is the class for you. Don't even bother of getting a textbook, his lectures are based on his notes and you will be watching plenty of videos to help you with your tests. All in all I would take it again. It's a fun class with a lot of discussion.

Awesome teacher! His lectures were a bit lengthy but interesting and clear. As long as you study the lectures and take notes the tests shouldn't be too difficult. Also, do the blue book assignments and be prepared for discussions and you should be set for a good grade.

Dr Navarro is great and very passionate about Native Americans because he is one. His class was interesting and you will learn things history books never taught you. A lot of discussions, easy tests, requires you to write your thoughts in blue book, and one paper. Super easy and laid back course. Take him! He is on your side and wants you to pass!

Took online SOC1A class. Easiest class I have EVER taken. You have to do the work though. Discussion boards, test, and an essay. But it wasn't hard. With the extra credit he gave I earned over a 100% in the class. Highly encourage anyone to take his online course. Gives really good feedback and the videos he assigns are actually very interesting.

This class is an easy A.

Super easy class, very laid back professor. You'll pass with ease if you just show up, pay attention and take notes. Only complaint is that he gets off topic A LOT and uses that time to preach his own reductionist-to-the-point-of-being-intellectually-painful opinions to the class, but he's overall a good guy and cares a lot.

I took Sociology 1A with Dr. Navarro last semester. I loved it. One of the the reasons why I loved this class is because his teaching skills were professional and not boring. Inspirational, educational, encouragement- these few things were noticed right away. I also loved his deep and significant talks about his native culture. I'm more woke now.

Doctor Navarro is one of the coolest professors I've ever had. He values respect in his classroom and doesn't like when students are on their phones or talking during his lectures. Tests are easy, he does review the day before and basically tells you exactly what will be on it. Never wanted to miss class. Very inspirational, funny, and passionate.

Dr. Navarro conducts himself as a man that believes in what he is teaching. To study America's Indigenous People is to study and understand their spirituality. Unfortunately, this can create hostility in those that do not share the same belief. This is college and I much rather have a professor that teaches honestly. Great Professor!

I love Navarro! I'm a communications major now minoring in sociology because of his class. He is hilarious, intelligent and has amazing political views (in my opinion). I took this class over summer in 4 weeks and I honestly wish I took it over the 18-week semester. I received a 102% in his class. 11/10 would recommend.

The American Sudies class is very interesting if you like discussing current events as well as some cultural history. There are papers to write about lectures, but only one and a half pages that you need to write for each one. Very funny and likeable. Class is always changing, always interesting. Very social environment so get ready to talk!

Professor Navarro is not a bad person or a bad professor. He's very humble and loves to hear from other people in the community. He engages us with enlightening and eye opening lectures, guest speakers, and group activities. The content in the class is upsetting and I'm assuming this is why others disprove of his methods.

Many people have different opinions towards Navarro, but here is mine. As long as you do your work, pay attention, keep your phone off, and are active in class youll be fine. He can be blunt and nice when he wants. Test where a breeze as long as you study. He like when his students actually try in his class.

Great teacher! I took him for Sociology 1 A. It was a short-term online class. The assignments are very straightforward. You are expected to watch a video and read through the modules then respond to them. The hardest part would be the writing assignment thats at the end but if you follow the rubric on how to do it, you should get a fair grade.

I took two american indian classes and I'll say this class is an easy A, just as long as you participate and do the work. Attendance is a must since he explains what you need to study for tests during class and he gives important info like upcoming tests/homework due dates and extra credit opportunities.

Great Professor It was very unfortunate however I feel our class was short changed this semester. We didrnt cover core sociological terms and application. Many of the guest speakers didnt bother to show up to lecture . And over all the professor was distracted with extra cirruclar actives DISSAPPOINTED

Took short-term course. Kind of wish I took this in class instead of online to really understand the material. It seemed like we were hardly diving into terms and concepts of sociology. His assignments are not hard, it's just the research paper that gets everyone. Wish he provided more feedback on discussion posts.

Great class! Easy to pass as well. This class gets you thinking of the true history of America and my class had great online discussions. Being a short-term class was no problem and I felt like I learned quite a bit! The hw videos and articles were interesting! Stay on top of discussions and taking notes and the quizzes and exams will be easy.

Very great online course, had a good experience for my first time taking online courses along with my math. Professor is not at all & very detailed in the assignments. Keep up with the discussion boards & other assignments & you will pass!

If you dont attend class you will get dropped. lectures heavy and gives study guides that prepare you well for tests. If you take notes and pay attention you will be fine.

I took the short term online class. Super easy but not a lot of points, so if you miss a couple assignments it could hurt you. Theres a discussion each week, an exam every other week, and a 5 page paper at the end of the semester.

Easy class if you put in the effort, don't just think its an easy A. Around 6 chapter summaries, one group project, a research paper, and an informal presentation on your research paper in the end. This semester he made us take one in person test, and the others including the final were online. Very passionate and cares about you.

Gives VERY CLEAR instructions on what he wants you to do on assignments. Although this was an online course, I have to say that it really opened my eyes to some social problems in society. Great class! there are 4 Exams, 1 research paper, and discussion boards every week. It was not a hard class but you must do all the work.

Bernard is a cool, very liberal, very outspoken professor. He tends to always stray off topic and lets the class talk about politics and current events rather than what we came to class to talk about. It's kind of annoying because SOC 2 is a class about minorities and all we ever spoke about was Donald Trump. Overall, I really enjoyed this class.

Really solid teacher. Few summaries but if you participate theres no reason why you shouldnt get at least a B. Even if its worse he will work with you. One of the best teachers at FCC

Navarro's class was very easy! Minimal homework. All his test are online and straight forward, but I had to rely on the textbook too, not just the lecture notes. His funny and sarcastic commentary makes it easier to sit through the lectures. Gives out extra credit often. Attendance is important! Has a strict no-phone policy (Will ask you to leave).

If you don't procrastinate, you'll do fine; however, the work can pile up fast if you do. There is one essay, but he provides an outline for students to follow. Also, he responds to emails fairly quickly and clarifies any questions you may have. There is a lot of reading each week, but tests are easy regardless if you know what I mean ;)

Easy A. Class is never cancelled and is mandatory. All tests are online. Few easy homework discussions. A lot of extra credit. Final was just showing up. Dont be late and dont be on your phone. Loves to talk.

Really laid back professor, he was really nice and funny. Just dont go on your phone or hell call you out. pay attention, do the homework & youre sure to pass

He is awesome! During our Covid-19 crisis professor Navarro was caring about our mental well-being and he was flexibility about our online chapter exams and assignments.

Hes okay. Grades pretty fast and if you complete and study the flash cards the tests are pretty easy. He does make you listen to his podcast which can be pretty boring but other than that it was an ok class.

Super easy class. Just do all the Inquisitive HW and the Discussion boards. The test are not weighted super heavy and he does not use proctorio or any other testing monitoring system. The final is not cumulative. He is super laid back.

I loved Prof. B. Navarro's class! Took his class during the pandemic so everything was online. The class structure was easy to follow. There are weekly homework assignments, but it's not too much to handle. Just stay on top of your work and you will be able to pass his class. He does offer a few extra credit assignments so take advantage of it!

Easily one of the best professors i have had so far. Discussion posts and exams not too much homework. Graded fast and made sure to check on all his students once school shut down.

Easy professor to take if you have a hard time with sociology. Just complete your work and you will get an A. He does make you listen to his podcast (can be over an hour long) for assignments but in the end the assignment is easy. No big essays, exams were not hard, and lots of extra credit to help those who are having a hard time with the class.

If you treat his podcasts as lectures, this class is a breeze. Basically just Discussion Boards, InQuizitive, and exams. The exams are easy if you read the textbook. He is very laid back and passionate about his teaching. SOC majors, this is a great professor.

He was a good teacher and hes nice. Taking his class online was easy so Im not sure how it is in person but if your looking for a good sociology teacher hes great.

Helpful professor and want you to understand the material. Mr. Navarro treated us well, full respect and not much work. Couple discussion boards, 4 tests and many extra credit. Show up do the work and you will have A+++. Much respect and love to that Genius Professor!!!

Absolutely loved Dr.B's class, I've decided to take SOC 2 during the fall. Not a hard class, that is if you're on top of your assignments. Dr.B is a very understanding person and his lectures were very interesting. I always looked forward to coming to in person classes with him!

Professor Navarro is amazing. I have had him multiple times throughout the years I have attended at fresno city. He truly cares for his students and want them to succeed. He will always be on your side. His classes are very discussion heavy to really delve into topics. I would recommend him for sociology because you can learn a lot through him.

Dr. B, makes very nice videos of the lessons that we are going over. Everything was easy to understand. Just make sure to complete your work and you will do fine.

Dr. B is a great professor. His videos are interesting. You do have to purchase an online book. I didn't know this so I bought hard copy book, but you needed the online book in order to do the homework online. You need to participate in discussions and quizzes are all online. Easy A and awesome teacher. Definitely caring and passionate.

As long as you are respectful of his lecture time, you should have no problem learning and picking up on his material. His class was a great class to take, the material was very easy to pick up on and he was very funny and kept lectures interesting and fun!

Dr. Navarro is one of the best professors I've taken at FCC. As long as you show up to class and participate in lectures as well as complete your homework assignments, you should pass his class.

Attendance is very important he takes EVERYTHING a student does into consideration. He is very blunt and straight forward. As long as you do your work and participate in class your good.

He was a great professor most of the time the lectures were just talking about random things it was a fun class would take it again.

Professor Navarro keeps things engaging with his straightforward approach. Attend class, participate, and complete assignments to do well. I found Unstuck study and the free textbook super helpful for study prep.

Dr. B is one of the best professors I have ever had. He's extended due dates due for assignments for the whole class. Really understanding that we as college students have personal lives. To pass his class all you have to do is show up to class and participate.

Dr. Bernard is an awesome professor, he cares for his students and is very understanding. He is strict with when it comes to attendance. The work was straightforward it was just inquisitive, with a few exams, discussions, and the final. The textbook is online for 45 dollars, which is not too bad. I would recommend taking his class!

Great professor! Lectures are funny, if you ask him to extend an assignment he'll do it as long as he sees you trying and showing up. Offers extra credit, everything is online, just show up to class and submit the assignments & you'll pass. Very understanding, and knows people have a life outside of class.

One of the best professors I've ever had. Super chill super cool professor. Super down to earth. But he is also super informative. He teaches great while having fun. Easy A. Take the class.

TAKE HIM! We have this online textbook, InQuizzitive (not expensive), and you complete lessons on there and have chances to keep trying to answer questions until you get 100% or whatever score you want, which takes me 20-30 min, and then we have weekly discussions here and there, and a few exams. Easy A if you put in the bare minimum. Trust me.

If you need to take SOC1A he is your guy! He is the best professor there is, super chill and laid back. He is very caring. Gave multiple chances to students to turn in late assignments and gave full credit! Exams are online. Inquizitive is inexpensive and is due every Friday. Join his conversations in class, he loves participation!

This professor provides online homework and exams. The assignments are on inquisitive, which helps you until you get the answer right. You can keep answering questions until you get the score you desire. He also loves participation during lectures! So ask questions!!! He makes jokes through out class and is a great teacher!

If you guys need to take Sociology 1A, take it with this professor. He is the best professor ever, and he gives extra credit towards the end of the semester. He has reopened our assignments, has good humor, and is understanding of your situation. I would HIGHLY recommend this professor. I am typing this as I am in his class lol.

Dr. B is super funny and knows what he is talking about. All assignments and exams are all online. There is no final exam (at least for my class) :P. I highly recommend 100%.
