I am absolutly horrible at algebra. Had D's in it in high school. But had a B in both Math A and D from scanlon. I never thought that was possible! He's amazing.

Worst fault is that he teaches right from the examples in the book, is very willing to help and will bend over backwards for students, drops lowest test score, allows 2 pages of notes on tests, and unlimited notes on final, turning in homework helps your grade a lot! Don't miss review day!

Has very dry humor, but a nice guy overall. I got a B in his class and I hate math. Make sure you do your homework because it really helps your grade, no matter how bad you do on the tests. Gives extra credit.

Mr. S is one of the best teachers at B.C. I always got F's in math courses and passed his class with an A. He is funny and really nice.

Mr. S is one of the most understanding teachers around. He knows learning math is a BIT*H and he does everything to help you get a good grade from reviews to notes, to extra credit. I got an A and i failed algebra in high school, he's great! I recommend him and would take him again!

I loved his class. He allows notes on his tests and also lets you use whatever calculator (buy a TI-89) and just show work on the tests. If you fail its because you wanted to fail. He trys hard to make sure everyone passes. He collects homework for points and gives tons of extra credit on the tests!

Mr. S. took away my math anxiety! He is very approachable and is never late to class. He definitely cares about students and wants all to succeed. Homework is graded "by weight." Do all that is assigned, and you will definitely get an A in this class. His "math convention" stories are pretty funny! A definite recommend. I'm now in stats!

Easy A if you do the extra credit. Didn't learn a whole lot but if you wanted to learn the math you can do it. He is there for you if you need the help. If you give effort to learn then he will teach. GO TO REVIEW DAYS!!

mr. scanlon, is a very good math teacher. if your are willing to learn, he can teach you. review days are great. he goes over every question on the review.

he's a very easy teacher! if you struggle in math take him, because he makes math easy! he lets you use 2 pages of notes for each exam and offers lots of exta credit! and gives you a review before any exam!! you must try hard to fail! he's gooood!

Scanlon is the most original, wacky prof I have ever had...the things he said were hilarious and completely off-the-wall. He drops the lowest test score and assigns easy homework. TAKE HIM! He lets you use notes for all of his tests (unlimited for the exam). He gives review sheets for each test with questions very similar to the ones on the test.

easiest math class ever. you can bs the hw and he still gives you full credit. i only show up once a week and still get over 100% on the tests. u must take this class!!

This class is easy. He makes it easy to understand algebra. I took Math A last semester with another teacher and got an F. I have made all A's so far on the exams. I understand Algebra now. He is funny and keeps class interesting.He is a great teacher!

loved him. he gets that math is a tough subject for many people and so he is incredibly lenient. attendence is not mandatory, but come on, it's math. he awards work on test so even if you get it wrong- you gets points for trying which makes it hard to fail a test especially since he allows notes on them too! so yes, if your wondering...take him.

One of the best math professors I have taken since attending Bakersfield Colleges. He is extremely helpful and he makes math understandable. I have taken him for two classes MATH A & MATH D and he is an absolutely amazing math professor.

I'm still horrible at math, but Scalan made it fun. I thought it's Stalin, oh well. Yeah, he's a great teacher and recommend to anyone who's struggling in math, especially if you have bad short term memory.

Scanlon makes the incomprehensible comprehensible. I hate math but I received an A in his class. He is very accomodating and will do whatever is necessary to help you succeed. I accidently missed my final last semester, and he actually let me take it in his office the next day. It doesn't get any better. I'm taking him for Math D as well.

He's a nice professor, and he makes it incredibly easy to get a good grade. If you're only taking the math classes for gen ed, then I would recommend him. If you're taking math as a major requirement, i.e. calc 1-3, then I would not recommend him for precalc 1 or 2. The class is so easy that it does not prepare you for the calc classes.

Easily the best math teacher I've ever had! He wants you to pass, so he does all he can to help. He answers all questions, never makes you feel dumb. There are extra credit oppurtunities, and the homework, which isn't due until the test, is graded credit/no credit. He's funny and really nice.

Scanlon is eccentric and makes every class session fun and easy to bear with. I hate math, but with the way Scanlon taught this subject, I always recieved above average scores on the exams and was actually interested and patient with math for once.

He is very cool. I took his precal class and he Made it very easy. We also go to the same gym. 24 hour. So if u have any questions go to the 24 hour fitness arond 6 pm. Lol

I hated Math because I did not understand it. I heard through the grapevine that Mr Scanlon was fantastic and HE IS!! I actually understand what I am doing. I have "NO DOUBT" that I will take BD with him in the Spring!!! He's just plain TERRIFIC and I am so glad I found him. One thing though YOU MUST GO TO CLASS IF YOU WANT TO PASS THIS CLASS!!!!

Have taken 2 math classes with Mr. S. He makes it very easy to not fail. Hands out reviews for each quiz and final and lots of extra credit. Attend class and you can not fail.

This is by far the best teacher I have ever had!!! He clearly explains everything step by step which is awesome if you have trouble understanding math, I wish all my teacher were like him... Prof. Scanlon is laid back with course work. However, you have to be there and do your work or you lose. He makes math interesting. He's eccentric and humorous in an extraordinary way. He's usually jovial, although in rare form a snip. Altogether I am fortunate to have him as an instuctor. Funny and pleasant to the eye.

This teacher cracks me up. He is very thorough with his work and his methods are easy to understand. At the end he gives extra credit and drops the lowest test score. I wish he taught stats. I would Deff take this teacher!

Scanlon wants you to pass! He allows notes on every exam. His lectures are clear and pretty interesting (you know, for a math course) and the homework load is fair. He is a very understanding, kind, and funny man! I would recommend his classes to anybody.

Scanlon is probably the best math professor that anyone can have. I knew the subject before coming in. He bent over backward to help those who didn't. He makes it too easy to understand it all and pass. Not only will you get a good grade in his class but you will move on to the next level with a good understanding of the material.

love this professor! loves what he does. You have homework but don't have to turn it in till last day of class. A lot of extra credit to jump up your grade.

Mr. S is a wonderful math teacher who cares about his students learning and going to the next level of math. His passion for math comes out with his style of teaching. He always encourages students to keep trying, and don't give up. I am so happy I was able to get in his class. It is not a myth he is an AWESOME teacher.

Mr. Scanlon is a legend here for good reason. I really wouldn't be saying anything here that hasn't been said already. If you need a class that he teaches, and you can somehow manage to register for it before it fills up to capacity (about a 2 day window!!! Woo Hoo!!) then do yourself a favor and take Mr. Scanlon. That's all there is to it!

Scanlon is one of my favorite professors. He's perfect for those (like myself) who struggle with math. If you take him, you won't be disappointed. No exaggeration, he's a GPA saver!!

Scanlon is very clear on his lectures! He truly takes time on a problem if a student does not understand and will break it down step by step. I took him for Math 60&70. No math lab which is perfect for me since I do appreciate the old school way of learning and that is the "good ol' textbook" He loves his job and it really shows through his lecture

Like many students, I struggled with Algebra. Prof. Scanlon is by far the best math professor at BC. He is very clear and concise with all of the formulas and makes sure that all material is understood before doing the homework. There is no surprises with Mr.S. If you are struggling at math, I would highly advise you to take his class.

Mr. S is someone who wants to help you understand math and all you have to do is take notes and do your homework. I had him for Math 60 and have him now for Math 70. He is the best math teacher for those who struggle with math.

There aren't enough good things to be said about Mr. S, His class is designed specifically for students who really struggle with the subject, the demand for a place in his class is extremely high, and once in you can call yourself really blessed, you still have to do work but the subject becomes so much more manageable and therefore passable.

Scanlon gives you ever opportunity there is to help you pass with an A. He makes his classes enjoyable. He's approachable if you're shy about asking for help. He is incredible! He is retiring soon so hurry. Math has always been my hardest subject but Scanlon makes it really easy & I actually understand it. 4 exams & you can opt out of the final. He is kinda weird but funny I really enjoyed his class. He grades mercifully & lots of extra credit. Cares about his students & its almost impossible to fail.

I took Scanlon for Math 60 and was nervous due to Math was my worst subject. He was awesome and explains on how to do the problem. I wish I couldve took him for Math 70 but he was only available during the day. I got an A in his class and did not need to take the final.

He is very helpful and will stay after class to help with the material. Does math problems on the board step by step which is also very helpful.

I have always disliked math but Scanlon has made it a lot easier to understand. He is by far the best professor iv'e had in my 2 years at BC. He also is caring and makes the class more tolerable with his wacky jokes.

I am one of those guys who struggle with math. I was afraid of taking this class. Professor Scanlon is the best option for you if you have problems with this subject. He is funny, respectable, and even though he doesn't consider himself as an awesome math teacher, he definitely is the best teacher ever.

Professor Scanlon is an amazing teacher and he gives you a review sheet before each test and the tests are very easy as long as you study of course, he's also a very funny and positive teacher and if you have a chance to take a course from him, I highly recommend you take him and you'll pass the class with flying colors. :-)

He reveaked he is retiring and we were all so sad! He is super flexible, patient, and transparent. Its hard to fail it you show up and turn in homework. Math is by far my worst subject so taking it with Scanlon made me hate it a little less.
