very boring teacher for a introduction class he makes it seem like you need to have a knowledge of the subject before hand goes off topic alot dont take this teacher if your looking for a introductory class

Agree with the person below me. Very boring and all he talks about is himself. Gives 10 online tests that are 50 questions and the exam was very hard. Cannot teach!He will fail you if you don't pass those tests. Does not help and does not give extra credit

Run away from him! Cannot teach, very demanding at exams, not understanding to students and brags about his previous experience A LOT! Got an A, but thinking about him still angers me!

THIS PROFESSOR IS HORRIBLE! His course grading is ridiculous. He expects you to know everything and will take off for the slightest errors, even if theyre irrelevant. He wont help you he will criticize you. When I came to him worried about my grade, I got absolutely no help whatsoever. Its the only teacher in my college career where I had problems.

This was the WORST teacher i have EVER had!!! he made me feel so bad that I didn't go to class towards the end because he would humiliate you if you didn't know the answer. He was rude and i geet mad when i think about this class. His study guides are not hepful and he grades on grammer not assessment of material.

Laziest professor ever

I've had him for 3 different courses. ITE 115, 170, 221. He is the absolute worst teacher I have ever encountered at NoVA. Besides lazy and rude, he had quizzes on material we have not gone over, claiming we should know it before the class. Then read the powerpoint presentations to us after we had taken the quiz on the exact same material. Avoid!!

Worst teacher in college history hands down, my grade was a high C for most of the semester, and then in the last week he re-calculated the grades and failed me. Half the class dropped it within the first week and they were smart to do so. For the sake of your own future, DO NOT take any of his classes. He is out to get everyone.

Do not take his class. He has next to no patience when it comes questions most of the time. The course's difficulty is similar to what would be a 400 level course. The exams are insanely difficult and half the time you'll be tested on things that weren't covered in the book or in class. Around 26 people attended the class at first, only12 were left

I did not get enough help or enough practice problems. I definitely would have liked to have had more homework and have him give us a solution to the problem after we had turned the work in so that later we could go back and study those for the exams

Honestly the worst class I've ever taken. I'm and A and B student and I received a C. First off, so many people dropped this class because he doesn't teach properly, and second of all, I had a percentage in the B range, how does that make my grade a C? Do not take him, even if its your last resort.

Very bad experience. Teacher seemed more interested with talking about himself then much of the course content. Really relies on you to learn the content on your own. Test every week on a data base of 400 questions which he chooses a random 50 from. If you are looking for an ITE class I would recommend Professor Myers.

He is horrible. Do not take his class! He argues with the students and will set you up to fail the exams. He is not at all helpful and is the exact opposite of what a professor should be.

The toughest class I've ever had! He is not helpful at all. If you take the class with him you're more likely to fail the course because he is not helpful at all. He'll set up the exams for failure and all the gradings are critical.

DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS EVER! He's so rude, and unhelpful. He spends half the class talking about himself and not going over the information that will be on the exams . And the exams are a huge part of your grade. In my class half of the students dropped the course and I wish I did too. He is HORRIBLE!

His grading system does not make sense. Each semester a lot of people sign up for his class and by the end of the semester only like 5 people stay. ITE 115 is a beginner level to computer concepts and during his lectures he speaks to you like you know what he's talking about when it's a beginner class. I do not recommend taking his class.

WORST TEACHER EVER!! I Regret not reading his reviews because he doesn't teach well. Most of the time he talks about himself and what he used to do in computers. Discussion boards are horriblehard because if you don't do it EXACTLY the way he wants it then you will most likely fail. He can't teach at all. Take anyone else!!!!

Being in this guy's class was the worst classroom experience I've ever had at NOVA. I ended up dropping his class due to how uncomfortable it was to be there and how unpleasant he is. He angrily calls on random people when no one answers a question and then begins insulting the entire class. Gave an exam where highest grade in class was a D.

This professor is horrible. This class is basically an online program that never works. If you ask him any question he didn't care to respond and always referred you to the book. Does not teach nor does he really care if you pass or fail. He is basically in the room taking up your time, money and getting paid to do nothing.

I was unfortunate that I had to enroll in this class . I should've checked his rating before. He doesn't teach. I don't care how much he knows, but he didn't teach an iota, and does not respect students. I will ask the Dean if I can get money back.

Spends as much time talking about his accomplishments as he does in teaching the material. Motivates through fear rather than taking the time to actually talk to a student. This is a person who loves being in authority and squashing anyone whom he perceives as questioning it.

I recently just had the displeasure of being his class this past Spring semester and it was one the biggest regrets of my college career. This professor fails to understand that not all of his students share the same scope of knowledge involving the course material. He's very condescending and arrogant.. Please avoid this professor at all cost

Rude teacher that doesn't have any patience with students at all. Not a great learning environment at all.

A narcissist who talks too much about himself and not the topics studied. He will test you on material that was never taught in class, in the book, or even mentioned to be tested on-and then get mad when you don't know it. He is a person who teaches through fear and will only criticize a student for what they did wrong, not what was right.

This professor is very disrespectful towards his students. He does not help when you ask and belittles and questions your competency when he only reads the slide lectures that are not very helpful. Would not recommend taking this course with this professor unless its the last choice and necessary.

Take all three of those tags and use them as the antithesis to his existence.

One of the worst professors at NOVA. He's rude and condescending. Just reads from the powerpoint slides which in the case of UNIX is not helpful- more hands on activities were needed to learn the material, not just lecture and textbook facts. Late on grading assignments. With what students say about him he shouldn't be allowed to teach.

He gives bad feedback about projects and he is not a reasonable grader. He is a nice person but not a good professor. His lectures are decent, he goes through the PowerPoint and makes sure you're able to follow along but his grading tactics make him a terrible choice of professor.

Avoid this professor, if he is the only person teaching the course, please!! do not take him unless you want a bad grade in the class. He gives project and only looks for mistakes that you make. His leactures are boring and he goes off topic.

The professor does not have a good teching style. He is one of the worst professors I have come in contact with. He does not know how to explain his powepoints. You can try to work hard for his class but still you wont pass. He gives negative feed back on everything even simple homework. Avoid this professor!!

The professor does not know how to teach or talk to students. He is a good and smart person but when it comes to teaching he is one of the worst professors I have come in contact with at NOVA. If you want to learn something from a course do not take him. He gives a lot of assignments and he only wants his way only.

I learned very little from this professor. He was extremely rude and obnoxious. Although he was quite knowledgeable on the subject, his ability to get the knowledge across sucked. Don't take this professor unless you want to speed hours try to understand topics but still get a bad grade in the class

Guys just taken hi s class this semester , and i wasent sure about the prof that was my biggest mistake that i took his class and did not drooped out . if you guys want to ruin your GPA than take his class , otherwise dont . he is rude never reply back with emails fast , never accepts late submission it straight zero(0) . and if you argue u r done

I have had Prof. Schmidt for 2 semesters now, one semester before he graduated with his masters, and one after. Let just say he changed drastically for the worst. You must complete all the HW to pass, his lectures are super boring, and he is very rude and thinks he knows it all. My class started with 30 people and ended with 7.

As a community college professor, he fails tremondously. He teaches his courses as if they are post grad courses expecting you to go out of your way to learn the course without providing any sort of meaningful reinforcement for a majority of the course. Any of the script work required also is either a 100 or 0 and that is based on your first time.

first off what an ego. thinks he knows everything and expects you to get out of the class knowing the book like second skin. hard grader and let me tell you memorising is not learning but that seems to be his game. if you want a lower gpa like the other poor guy said, then pick this guy. you've been warned.

The worst professor ever for ITE 221. I had to drop out because all he did was bully me. more than half of the class failed and yet he blamed us for everything. Constantly screams at us telling us we would never make it in IT. The belittling is unbelievable with this guy and his ego is huge. DO NOT TAKE HIM EVER!!!

Don't skip this comment!!! Don't even thing or consider even hesitate to take his class because he will push your grade Down also he will shout at you if you can't do what he say or answer his question even though sometimes he never talk about that question before. You can ask from other students who studied with him, and you will get the same ans.

If you want to have a good grade, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS(I mean it). He will give you a work without telling you in class how to do it in the right way also the funny things is most people just walk away from his class because his teaching style is pretty bad. He will give you a list of how to use of command, but it wouldn't help you toward work.

Not even the second day of class he is yelling and be quite rude. I dropped out of the class before it was too late. He talks to people like they are beneath him. He has a big ego and it really shows. Overall, If you want to be yelled at just for ask a question be my guest.

Ugh. Long boring lectures, always showed up/started class late, and is condescending. Heard from another student he didn't show up for scheduled office hours until an hour after he said he would be there AND she had emailed him about it prior to going. Good things: all the practice exams are on quizlet and there isn't THAT much work for the class.

Bernard Schmidt is the single worst professor I have ever had the displeasure of taught by. This man's ego is larger than mountains. I have never met a more condescending, arrogant, and asinine who's job it is to inform people. Don't bother asking a question. You'd be better of asking the magic conch shell. He'll make you feel stupid for asking.

I literally lost 10 points on a easy introduction discussion because I didn't comment other students at the right time. (but I did it the same day I wrote my comment which was on time). I never asked him questions or even bothered to say I wanted to retake a quiz because I was sick because he talks as if everyone is beneath him. Im going to fail...

Do not take his class. He lectures as if we are all Steve Jobs and know exactly what he's talking about. He doesn't even acknowledge that people are taking his class BECAUSE we have no idea what he's talking about. He is not beginner friendly and has a very rude approach about him, to where you don't even want to ask him for help. I'd rate him a 0

Lectures that could put you straight to sleep. He doesnt talk TO YOU or make the efforts to TEACH YOU, he more so just talks out loud in hopes youll grasp the information. He doesnt personally care about the well being of how any of his students are doing in the class, just pushing through the semester in his benefit. Would avoid this professor.
