She made a rather difficult subject very easy to understand, and it was fun to learn. She also made herself available whenever anyone needed help. If anyone has to take Chemistry, I'd advise taking Dr. Harkness.

GREAT Teacher. She explains chemistry with detail, visuals and as though you may not have had it before, however, I recommend having a chemistry background before entering the class. I would recommend her class to anyone, experienced or not with chemistry

I am mentally retarded when it comes to chemistry. She was awsome at explaining concepts and always made sure everyone was on the same page before going on to another topic. She has study sessions that she gives you extra points for attending. I got an A. She was awesome.

Goes above and beyond what a college prof. would do to help. She gives extra credit and gives you access to past quizes and tests. GREAT TEACHER!!!!

A wonderful teacher and a wonderful person!

She was a great teacher because she took the time to go around and check that everyone was on the same page before moving on. She's also a great person. However, often we were rushed in the lab, or we stayed long after class should have gotten out.

Very good teacher! She makes chemistry easier to understand and I suck at chemistry! Class would have been easier if I had taken a previous chem. I would recommend doing so. Uses visuals and does experiments for the class. Fun for chemistry.

Dr. Harkness is the best professor at Delta college. Her lectures bring all the material together. She is willing to help each and every student and is very clear on what she wants accomplished in class and in labs. If you get the chance to take her I highly recommend it.

Very nice teacher and is glad to work with you if you need additional help. She also has a helper in the class who also give added help to the students. She has quite a few out of class tutoring hours and she makes good use of the online Educator system for your convenience. She makes learning chemistry fun and easier. I highly recommend her class.

Dr. Harkness is an awesome teacher. She knows her stuff and she knows how to teach it. You can have no idea whats goin on and she can still tell you how to figure it out. Awesome teacher! Highly recommended!

Very nice person. Goes out of her way to help students, but is very hard. You must earn a decent grade. A solid A is extremely difficult, but B or better can be done with honest effort.

She was an amazing Chemistry teacher. She definitely knows her stuff, and would go way out of her way to help students. I definitely learned so much in her class, and would take her again for a higher chemistry class. She was very easy to understand and follow. I would definitely recommend her to anyone planning to take Chemistry.

Nice teacher. She is very helpful, but it is still Chemistry, you will still be lost even when she gives you the answers. I definitely recommend taking her.

I had dreaded taking this class because I had taken it with Sharp and failed miserably. I took my chances with Bernadette and I couldn't have asked for a better teacher. I recommend her to everyone because if you can't understand it the way she teaches in lecture, she finds another way so you understand. She is goes over only what is needed to know

Well, she does go at a decent pace but can be disorganized. Check on the assignments, sometimes not clear with instructions but will change to be fair. Overall okay teacher.

Without a doubt one of the best teachers I have ever been blessed to have. Chemistry is not very easy for me but Prof Harkness offered plenty of one on one time and she had student aides to help as well. She is amazing, kind, and very helpful. When I talk about school there isn't a time I don't sing her praises. AMAZING!

I had Bernadette for 101 and 111. She is a very good teacher. She is always willing to help and she makes good use of class time. Her notes are very clear and easy to understand. This is not an easy grade though, it's chemistry so you have to do your work! Exams and quizzes are at an appropriate difficulty. Make sure you do homework problems!

She is so helpful! She takes the time out of her life to come in on weekends and help students. She offers extra credit and usually drops a quiz. Its a really fun class!

Harkness is a great professor. She offers office hours everyday practically. She really loves teaching chemistry and she wants others to understand it as well; however, it is not a easy class she will definitely challenge you so be up for the challenge or you will drop the course!

She is the BEST professor I have ever had. If you want to learn, yet have difficulty she will take time out of her life (meaning weekends) to assit you. Take Harkness for Chemistry highly recommended.

Bernadette is amazing. She is very helpful and knows her material. CNET option was very convenient but requires alot of personal effort. Do the webpages!!! Those ARE your lecture. Quiz every class period. Not hard if you do the webpages before hand. Online discussion required. Highly recommend!

Bernedette is awesome! Her extra online material is super helpful. She knows her stuff, and you can tell she's taught the class a lot, because she knows how to help if you're stuck on something. If you have the opportunity to take her, do it!

I hated chemistry before her class. Her webpages are time consuming but very helpful. She will go out of her way to help you. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

she definitely makes you work for it, but if you make it through to the end you'll be better off because of it. she's really helpful as long as you reach out and let her know you want help. she often says things like "no pain no gain" or "if you're enjoying chemistry then you're probably not learning," but its just a show -- she LOVES chemistry.

Awesome teacher! She is very clear on what is expected. Mrs. Harkness is accurate and precise with her grading. She is also very personable.

Bernedette is great & I don't blame her specifically but the amount of work in the class is FAR too much to take with a full time schedule. LOTS of work, I've never struggled with a college course so much. Don't expect to go into this thinking it's a breeze. I spent hours with her for extra help. Also make sure you're in class! E/C is available!!

I loved having Bernedette! This was my 2nd time around with taking 101 and she taught it amazing! Instead of just making you memorize things, she really helped teach the reasoning behind. Very sweet and great teacher. She clearly communicates her expectations for sure

She was one of my favorite professors. The fact that she earned a chili pepper makes sense... :) Shes one of the reasons I am going into the chemistry field.

I enjoyed Bernadette. She's very tough, but also very helpful and approachable outside class. I would recommend.

Bernedette is a wonderful chemistry teacher. She clearly states her grading criteria, and makes herself available for questions if students are having trouble. Personally, if I had not had previous chemistry knowledge before coming into this class, I would have found it slightly challenging to understand her explanations, however.

She is a high quality chemistry teacher. Her lectures were a little slow and boring, but that was because she laid out everything you need to know for the test. The best part is that she made her own huge course pack so you did not have to buy an expensive textbook! I would definitely recommend choosing her instead of Peck.

Her class was definitely not the easiest, but overall I thought she did a great job teaching Chem 111. Its nit an easy class to teach and she expects you to have some Chemistry as a prerequisite so if you lie about your previous Chem experience it is going to be extremely challenging for you because she expects you to know certain basic concepts.

She was a great professor. I did better in this class than 101 but this is NOT an intro class. You have to work for a good grade, the people who fail didn't. USE THE TLC! (after 12:30 for the chem tutor) MY only complaint is that we sped through thermo and gas laws which is 90% of the final. The final was challenging even for A students.

She is a fast teacher, that requires 100% of your attention every class. She assigns optional hw that does benefit you, so it is recommended to do. You just need to pay attention and study hard and youll do good on her test. However theres many test and quizzes. She will sometimes give you changes to retake them which is awesome

Bernadette was very memorization heavy. Every formula, every conversion, etc. She was a good teacher, she would go table to table and make sure that everyone was understanding the topic that she was teaching. I wanted to take her for 111, but it didn't work with my schedule.

Bernadette is a sweetheart. Shes great at explaining concepts and can do it in multiple ways until you understand. She uses a lot of real life examples which makes the material memorable. Shes always there to answer questions outside of class and is very kind, funny, and down to earth. I would totally take a class with her again!

Dr. Harkness is definitely a great professor. She makes her questions a little bit more tricky then what you would typically see but its all in good fortune. She wants to see you succeed and is very flexible with how her assignments are turned in. Her assignments can only be turned in as a PDF form but she lets you take pictures to turn it as PDFs.

Ms. Harkness was a great professor and really wants to see you succeed. She allows you to do corrections on all of your assignments to get a better grade on them. She gives a lot of good feedback to your work, to show what you need to correct. Answered any questions, very quickly. Highly recommend taking her!

She is such a sweet person and is also incredibly knowledgeable about her subject matter! Participation definitely matters in this class, though. Her lectures are longer, but if you are interested in the material, it is easy to stay involved. Tests are harder, but she often allows for make-up points. Great professor!

She went above and beyond to ensure I understood, and passed the class, worked with me more than any teacher I've ever had, would Highly recommend, but also recommend taking her only in person classes, online is too difficult

The first and only professor I've ever taken who reached out to me before the semester started about my disability. This class is insanely hard, but not only does she love the subject, but she loves her students. Gives extra attempts at labs and quizzes, and your final grade can be curved depending on your class progress. I loved her SO much!
