Very nice teacher. helpful, easy going, and very approachable. recommended for Polisci students or for people trying to fullfill a GE requirement.

attendance isn't mandatory but, you'll be assigned journal entries that are due the same class. Most of the assignments are based off completion and course material is presented clearly through notes and lecture. great for a GE course and an amazing professor who cares for your success.

My favorite professor I've had at SMC, she genuinely wants her students to succeed and gives great feedback on critical response papers. She's great at finding specific strengths in each student, which is really encouraging. If you do all the readings and put thought into the essays, which you should, then it can be a lot of work, but well worth it

Dr. Cueva lives what she teaches, she's genuinely committed to justice. Accessible and accommodating, she'll bend over backward. But you must match her effort. Not caring, expecting an easy A just because she's nice will earn you a fail. Opening your mind, engaging, and reading is the bare minimum. It's a lot, but the course is very fulfilling.

i took women studies 20 with this Dr Cueva. We learned of a variety of FeminismS and Civil Rights MovementS. Her teaching style is very different. it is not like the banking method. We discuss in class everything we learn. She assigns journals only Midterm and Final exam. Expects all Students to try. Her class will challenge you and open your mind

A wonderful professor who really cares about her students. Had a few journals, midterm, final, and a presentation on a movement. Pretty manageable course load, and you learn A LOT of new stuff that you won't learn in any other class. Definitely recommend.

Her class will open your eyes to issues that you wouldn't even know existed. She really helps you visualize and conceptualize, instead of just memorize. Would 100% take again!

Expect emotions because social justice emanates from the heart and social justice is the heart of her teachings. A big part of me wishes the class didn't end. Dr. Cueva is very knowledgable and her passion on the topic is apparent. Having said that, there were moments of absentmindedness and distraction; she'd get so into a topic that we would end up being told the same things over and over again for six weeks. Bottom line is Cueva's passion and spirit overshadowed most of the negative aspects.

I took her for winter semester & I was so sad it ended. I love her so much ! Don't be intemidated on the 1st day. I recommend her big time! She's so sweet& understanding. You grow in her class & I almost teared up on the last day of class. Every day I was excited for only her class. Class is so much fun you won't want to leave!

My favorite professor this will be my second class with her. I was extremely disappointed last semester when I couldn't get her class. She is truly amazing and works with everyone individually. Dr. Cueva has been the best instructor I've had at SMC so far. I was very happy to see a WOC teach women studies and not discuss solely the suffrage movement. But, an emphasis on Black Feminism and Chicana studies. I think more women of color should be hired in the ethnicwomen studies department. You will have to work for your grade but she helps!

Dr. Cueva is probably the one of the best caring and open professors around. She is always there to help, even though she sometimes does not have office hours. She is very forgiving on late assignments, although I never felt so rushed that I turned something in late. She is not a tough grader at all, she is so lenient on pretty much everything.

Pace yourself with your work, turn it in on time because each assignment takes hours to complete. Midterm is hard as well so make sure to begin it right away. Dr. Cueva is part of a new & more progressive breed of teachers. She genuinely cares for her students and wants them to do well. She really takes into consideration the trials that students face during school such as working, having a child, etc. She is incredibly smart and helpful and though she's not the easiest teacher, you will learn a TON.

I took Professor Cueva in the Winter Semester, and this class was honestly one of the best classes I took at SMC. I loved how she emphasized building a community among your peers. She does give extensive journals, but the information is pretty repetitive so you're good on that. Just attend class and do the work and you'll be able to get an A.

Loved Dr. Cueva's women's studies 20 class. I took her class during winter. She is very easy to work with. There were quite a lot of journals (definitions+short essays) we had to write but they all helped to prepare us for the midterm and final. It was an amazing experience and I would love to take one of her classes again!

If I can grade Dr. Cueva on a percentage scale, I would give her a solid 100. Dr. Cueva has gone accommodated the class like no other professor has on this campus. She cares about our well being as well as getting the most out of her class! She is the definition of a true humanitarian and inspires me to bring change to the world.

This was my first women's studies class, Professor Cueva is great professor, very inspiring and cares a lot about her students. This class consists of a lot of writing. My advice onto passing this class is do all of the journals get a good grade on them, as they play a huge part of the midterm and final and you will guarantee yourself an A.

This course was truly life changing. Professor Cueva has such an amazing way of teaching and is very understanding of her students. The class does require hard work and focus but time flies through it all. I recommend truly reading the reading assignments and when writing the journals make sure to give your honest opinion and stay open minded.

I have to say that I had to put a lot of effort on my papers because this class is very paper driven. However, she is understanding and her lectures are very inspiration. Its women studies, so either way you'll be leaving with a new perspective and you'll learn a lot of great things, so the subject itself is very interesting.

There are so many journals in class and take home so do them on time. Inspirational lectures and she cares about her students. all books were needed. she extends deadlines too since she cares about quality of work. shes so niceee i loved her

Having a professor like Dr. Cueva is a professor that you wish to have in your entire educational career! Does she give you assignments that push you to critically analyze and work hard for? Yes! But the tools that she gives you to critically analyze and conduct class presentations are assets that you need to transpire to UC and Cal States.

Professor Cueva is one of the most caring professors I've ever had. You have to do a lot of reading and writing, but her class was one of my favorites at CSUN. On the contrary, this class is a bit time-consuming and far from an easy A so if you have a busy schedule for your upcoming up semester I wouldn't recommend this class.
