Got to keep up in your reading. The worst thing about this guy's class is the Margret Fuller project. The essays can be interesting if you choose the right topic.
All the reading will drive you up the wall, along with the Margaret Fuller project. But you can learn a lot if you pay attention.
Easy A if you do the assignments. Don't slack and you'll do fine.

Some found the Margaret Fuller Project difficult, but I found it very easy, just write a journal about what you read, SIMPLE! Mr. Dill is a WONDERFUL person and helps you to really like what you are reading, I think he's GREAT! ASK QUESTIONS! THEY'LL HELP

Mr. Dill is a very nice person, a veteran who likes to talk about his past war experience. Class can be slow at times, but fairly easy. Just do the homework and you will be fine.

Mr.Dill is off da hook, class can be boring some times but overall he is a good teacher. Focus on doing well on your essays, and you'll do fine. The readings do not help, so avoid buying the Western Visions book advises.
All you need to do is the assignments, don't bother buying the books because they have no relevance to your essays at all. Other than that its an easy A.
His class is pretty easy. You don't have to do the reading, just do all of the assignments. You don't really have to go to class either.
Nice guy. Lots of work, but it's worth it. He teaches basic fundamentals that help later on. Easy A if you do all assignments.
He is really really boring, but you don't really need to read, and I got A's and B's on all my papers. You don't really learn anything. He takes attendance occassionally, so you should go to class.
His class can be very very boring, but he does a good job of conveying the necessary material. As long as the homework is turned in on time grades will be high.
The lecture material does not pertain to any of the assignments so you don't need to go to class BUT he takes attendance and will count it against you if you don't. Do all the assignments (hours of pure busy work) and you'll get an A. No in-class exams except the final--all work is done at home.
Very nice guy. Funny if you pay attention. Goes off on tangents in a good way. Alot of assignments...but he is a fair grader. Has an intrest in Greek mythology, Latin, Philosophy etc. He is a self proclaimed "geek," but the man is a genious.
He was really really boring. A lot of the material was plato, aristotle kind of stuff. he lets you rewrite papers which was awesome. and hes pretty funny and a very very nice man.
Lectures have nothing to do with the homework, and homework is all that reallly counts for the most part. The final is an in class essay and you have 2 hrs. Easy A
He's off topic most of the time but he does got his work done. Its an easy class if you're into writing...and uh, if writing isn't your forte then...well, this is what the class is for, its pretty easy once you get his techniques learned.
Most random and boring teacher ever, but such an easy grader that it makes up for it. Didn't read any stories or take any notes and got an A in the class. Laugh at his lame jokes and he'll love you.

Very easy grader. Unit sequences are long but are all easy A's. The class can get boring at times, but he's really nice and if you show up he likes you. Definitely an easy A

He is a really nice guy and helpful. The book is really boring but the Unit sequences and essays aren't too bad and he is pretty lenient about grading. Make sure you go to class because that will put you on his good side.
He is a great teacher. He knows his stuf very well. But don't let his knowledge intimidate you. The class is a lot of work, but he grades super easy. And he is just a very nice guy. He accepts late work, and is a very nice man. If you come to class, he will remember that. Attendance is weighted more than misc. assignements. It was a great class.

It seems that everyone has said great things about him. I guess not going to class can hurt you. He does grade leniently...its hard to go to class with his boring lectures that aren't even relevant. To sum it up, don't go to class get a C, go to class get a B, try hard ...A
He seems interesting at first. But later down the road you realize that he has a very bad teaching method. Each lecture had something not related to the assignment, and he fails you if you skip class. Avoid this guy.
EaSY A AS LONG AS YOU GO TO CLASS.. TAKE HIM OVER ANYONE ELSE YOU WONT REGRET IT.. YOU DO HAVE TO SHOW UP IN CLASS BUT OTHER THAN THAT IT IS EASY TO PASS THIS CLASS.. FUN LECTURES TOO =)
Bert Dill is the man. He would go off on tangents a lot, but it was interesting nonetheless. Just show up to class for an easy A. He is really chill and a lenient grader.
i miss this guy. he's so nice and willing to take the time to help you with any project or essay. i wish i had him for this semester
Nice guy but boring. If he doesn't like your style of writing then your grade might not be that high and there's a lot of busywork that's worth points. Personally, I didn't enjoy this class at all but he's still a nice guy.
He is such a nice man and will go to any length to help you. His teaching style is somewhat confusing and boring, but he is still a fair and good teacher. I recommend him!
I got a B...we wrote about four 7-10 page papers...BUT THEY ARE ONLY SUMMARIES!!! AND HE IS EASY ON GRADING!!!!! I got an A on ALL of them, but he helped me understand a little history...VERY SMART, VERY INTELLECTUAL!!! i love teachers like him...
4 opinion essays. His grading is based on style. Go to class because he basically goes through all the reading, and hits all the main points he would like to see in your essays. Nice guy, really smart. Knows a lot of history. Participate in class discussions because the fonder he appreciates it, the more appreciation the better the grade.
nice guy somewhat funny, grading is somewhat easy. just do all the summeries because they are easy and help ur grade out. 2 big essay that you can re-write and one group essay which is the final, re-write the essay u will get a better grade and it helps ur grade out. Not to hard to pass just do the work and u will at least get a B overall.

He is very knowledgeable about his subject but does not very effectively teach you how to use rhetorical devices in your writing. Class isn't really mandatory id show up about once a week or so and got an A-
Dill was a funny old guy. he cracked jokes now and then. but honestly i feel like what he said in class what pointless information, and i felt like i didn't need to show up to class. we had about 5 essays over the semester. he made us sign in for about the first half of the semester. i would not take this class again just because i was bored.
His lectures were boring and not helpful. I got an A, but I did not learn anything useful from his class. His class did not help me improve my writing. If you want to improve your writing, I suggest you take it with a different professor. Do NOT buy the book; you don't need it. He allows you to do extra credit essays. Attendance is worth 5%.
I hated this class!!! He could be funny at times but most of the time I just fell asleep... It wasn't too hard I just wasn't motivated to do the work at all because it was boring. All he does is lecture during class about stuff you don't need to know... It felt more like a history class than a writing class and i didn't learn anything...
mr dill is by far the worst teacher at this awesome school. he is disrespectful, doesn't explain things well at all, and WILL bore you to death with his absolutely pointless lectures. you will hate yourself for taking this teacher for any class.
Eventhough his lectures were a bit boring, he was a very helpful and easy teacher. He let us have peer reviews before the essays were due and then once we turned them in and received our grade, he let us revise it. He is extremely easy compared to other teachers =D
His lectures go on forever. They're either interesting or not at all hit or miss. The readings were ok and the essays are intermediate so revise REVISE! You can tell this guy knows his stuff, so give him respect by doing your work and going to class.

Boringest teacher ever. Honestly, i was asleep every single time in his class, don't even know why i went. Plus, he's the worst grader ever!!! He doesn't know a good writer when he sees one, he's not open to different styles of writing and only sees his as the best, not!! Just don't take him.

Great teacher if you like a laid back atmosphere. Take his 50 minute classes, its not hard to sit through his lectures. The only part about his class that is hard is if you procrastinate until the night before.
Extremely boring lectures, but essays are pretty easy. I brought a laptop to most of his classes and just did my own thing because its a snore listening to him. He takes role in the beginning of the semester. Overall, easy class just a tad boring.

He's an easy teacher. I hate writing papers and all of my four essays I received C-'s you get to revise and I boost them up to Cs and C+s, and passed the class with a B-

Boring! I only attended on the days I knew he'd talk about the next assignment! Otherwise...and easy A or B....I got a B but only because I never attended except on days he'd discuss assignments! Advice: make a friend in the class and exchange emails! He doesn't require attendance! Just make sure you know what you need to do for the few assigments!

He is really nice. A farely easy grader on papers. The sylybus will tell you everything you need to know. You use the book very often but you do not need to bring it to class.
My goodness, is this man strange. He is very nice, but has a crazy personality. Attendance is definitely not mandatory, maybe the first couple days. Everything is basically done out of the text book and only final project at the end of semester. If you can find someone else, take 'em but he really isn't TOO bad.

this class was fairly easy.no tests! only 4 essays throughout the whole semester. you do use the book to know what to talk about in ur essay, but hes a pretty easy grader. i thought i did pretty horrible on one essay but he gave me a B. nice old man. dont need to go to lectures but he likes u more if u do.

Boring professor. I watched the world cup during his lectures and a majority of the class never paid attention He took role at the beginning of the semester and then stopped. No quizzes, no reading, just 4 essays and you're done. Easiest summer class ever.
Mr. Dill is very intelligent. I am so glad we didn't just read "dead white men's stories." He is a challenging teacher who gives you the "big picture." He connects art, astromony, politics, philosophy, history with English. Worth taking the class. Tough but worth it!
Terrible! You go to class and none of it makes sense, then I throws and essay at you and you have no idea what he wants. He doesn't give you back anything and you only find out your grade after the class ends. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!!
I have no idea what is going on in that class.Dont think anybody do.He mentions random stuff and confuses people.Worst class ever.More like a mixture of HIST 101,GREEK 101 and LAME JOKES 501!!...Unfortunately I missed my class drop deadline.But for others who are thinking of doing his class maybe next semester...DONT!!!...I know you deserve better!
Worst teacher ever...I've never seen an unhelpful and boring teacher like Dill in my whole life..Never talk about his expectation on upcoming essay, but instead took the 1 week giving powerpoint and mic. word tutorial. not helpful and when it comes to grading the essay, he grades tough. DO NOT TAKE HIM, if u wanna do good on WPA.
One word...BORING!!! Seriously, if you want to enjoy your college life please do NOT take him. He's brilliant but he just never talk about the essay or project we are doing. Instead, he goes on talking about other topics. his main goal is to make your life miserable...not trying to help u pass or prepare u for the WPA. The worst professor at state.
I loved Dills class hes cool funny! he might go off topic but he doesn't really trip if you don't show up all the time considering he repeats himself often! hes very intelligent which sometimes causes him to go off topic but this is my second time in his class and i have enjoyed myself!

Mr. Dill is a very intelligent man but doesn't quite connect everything he says to what the class is about. You read about a lot of history, do unit sequences and write a few essays. There is a final project and that is it. No final. I'm still not sure what we were supposed to come out of the class with but, overall, it wasn't terrible.

Dill is a sweet man who just loves to talk. However, his rants will make you fall asleep. I rarely attended class. The papers were easy and the final was extremely easy too. I did not really learn much because I would practically fall asleep from boredom.

This definitely is a history class not a RWS class like I expected... He was not helpful and was honestly one of the worst professors I have ever had. Don't attend his classes because it is seriously pointless. Just do his assignments and essays to the best of your ability because you're on your own when it comes to writing them.

Attendance is not mandatory in this class. 3 essays, no final, one final project, but the only preparation you receive is the whatever is on the syllabus. Grades are not posted online, so the only grade he will post is the final grade. He is pretty lenient on grading, but class is very boring.
He's a good teacher but his lectures put you to sleep. Clear syllabus so you don't have to show up if you don't want to. Just be sure you don't miss the due dates for the assignments

He knows his stuff, very knowledgeable, in my opinion has an interesting sense of humor. There are a lot of texts to read. So keep up with the reading calender. No tests. Peer review days. VERY reasonable when grading essays. Will like you more if you participate in discussions and show up to class-- part of participation grade.
The man is clearly very knowledgeable but his lectures made me feel like I was in a Philosophy or History class and seemed to go on forever. Did not learn anything about writing itself. Luckily I had some outside help for essay writing. He is always willing to help out students though if you have any questions and is a pretty fair grader.

His lectures basically have nothing to do with the essays. If you actually put in effort in your essay, you will get a good grade, but just know you are pretty much on your own with them, considering he does not even talk about the prompts. However, when you get an essay back, you can fix it and give it back to him and he will regrade it.

RWS100 is just a general education class and I know when I talked to my friends who had other teachers none of them were having as much difficulty with their paper topics as I was. Dill can be very biased and traditional. It requires a lot of attention to details and being extremely good at right to do good in his class.
