very nice she ha a lil jokes not to bad. she is coo when u make jokes in class.

she is a cool teacher but only if you like lectures, because thats all she does is talk talk talk thats it. she doesnt even use the board, so if you like to just sit there and listen take her she is easy, and helps you out in every way she can.

Although she is a nice professor, she can be too nice sometimes to some students. I did not enjoy going to the class because she loves to lecture just able the whole time where was there. She gets off topic sometimes and we end up playing catch up with the material. I would not take her again if I had too.

After not being in school for several years, it was a relief to be in this class. Ms. Brown was patient and encouraging. She was also fair and I really felt that she wanted every student to become better writers and critical thinkers. I gained confidence in many skills.

English 101 taught by Ms. Brown was certainly most helpful and fun. She is an excellent instructor ---covering the fundamentals and making the class interesting.

professor brown is amazing, she helped me find my writing voice. she can praddle on a bit in lectures and sometimes she loses control of the class, but for the most part she is great and really enjoys teaching

Took this class to help me with a career change. I now have confidence to write anything...letters regarding employment, memos, even successful letters of complaint. (though I'm not complaining here...Ms. Brown is an excellent teacher.)

I took Ms Browns Eng 033 class, first few weeks she seemed to be a hard teacher , but later on she was very good & she was very nice to students. she wants everybody to learn the words , if you come to class everyday , do her home work & study the Vocabulary words you will definitely get credit for the class , recommended!!!!!

There should be more teachers like Ms. Brown. I learned so much! She is kind, helpful and has a good sense of humor, too. Our class was every night for five weeks and I began to really look forward to it. Now reading is my life.

She will try to scare u the first day of class why, i guess she likes a small class.I learned a lot.She is nice. I enjoyed the class,so be specific on ur writing,u will be fine.The only bad thing she keeps in very late and she loses control of the class.Use the writing center it's extra points.DO AS SHE SAID U WILL GET AN A TAKE HER SHE IS GOOD

Ms. Beth treats her students with high regard. I've never seen a teacher review a paper so quickly as her. She allows some students to re-write their paper for a better grade and is always very helpful. Put some deep emotion and thought into your essay's and you will be an "A" student.

She is a great teacher. She listens to the students and wants them to learn. No complaints. I loved this class. I will miss this class.

We had to do four essay. She gives the topic in advance and you have a week to write it.I love the way she grades the essay..she makes a list on what we need to improve. FYI:Don't be absent she'll make you write an essay.Just be there everyday and do the work and you should end up with an A or B :].Not alot of people got Cs. Shes good a lil boring

each class she reads a textbook(rules and homework exercises). that book is very helpful. it has a lot of grammar rules. Teacher doesnt explain anything. she wants u only to do homework(mainly, 4 essays and exercises in the book). Easy class, just do homework.

Ms. Brown is very fair with her grading and how she treats the students.

Do not be absent from her class or be late or she'll make you write an essay. I got an A in her class but her teaching style doesn't mesh with me. She's a heck of a teacher, but she is very anal. She is a stickler for English grammar and essay structure. All in all, Beth Brown will make sure you know that you are in college and not high school.

I absolutely LOVED her class :)she is very nice and has her students read interesting short stories. I learned a lot from this class.

She is clear and kind. You will learn to write well if you practice what she has taught you. I feel more confident in the use of the English language now.

It was a thorough class and also very interesting. I am not afraid to write my thoughts on paper now. I will definitely apply what I learned in this class to my other classes and even work.

I have her for eng28 now & I think she is a good teacher. Writing essays in general does not interest me whatsoever, but I actually don't mind writing essays now. The lectures are boring but it's because of the content, not her. Go to the writing lab & get extra credit. Don't miss a class or you'll have to write a 2pg essay on why you missed class!

I LOVED this class. I was afraid of writing till this class. She helped me through my fear of writing and now I'm ready for 101! She truly cares about her students and is willing to go above and beyond for you! Just go to class, do your HW and you will learn and get an A. She deserves a raise! (:

Professor Brown is such a sweet teacher. We use the textbook everyday, but her class works are really easy. She assigns you to have a journal in which you write in 3 times a week. Attendance is mandatory, staying in class is mandatory, but the class is an easy A. You check your own final and theres only 3 essays that are 1 page long, double spaced.

Really sweet teacher. :) she assigned 4 essays during a summer session. She picks a few of the best essays and has the students read them aloud.Textbook is only used for reading short stories, which she quizzes you on. She is hard on grading especially on grammar, MLA format, and the use of it and thing in your essay. All in all good professor

Professor Brown is so sweet and kind! Sweetest teacher. Had to write 4 essays mla format 2 pages, and final essay on a book you chose to read off the list, she grades by check+, check or check-. Usually picks 3 people to read their essays out loud. You need to buy the book, she quizzes on the short essays in it. Had a great time in this class!

Professor Brown is one the most helpful English teachers at LAVC! She is so nice and all of her lectures are crystal clear! She actually cares and makes sure her students learn and are ready for 101. THANK YOU MS.BROWN!! :D

I am taking a winter English 101 class and I feel so prepared because of her class. Her class prepared me for this class and much more. it's not easy taking night classes, but her class made it all worthwhile. I learned a lot of new vocabulary words, too.

As a returning student, I learned the tools of writing better in her class. I should have learned these lessons years ago, but I am glad that I know them now. She taught me the importance of a good thesis statement among other useful lessons.

I didn't know that I could write. When I took Ms. Brown's class she had me read my paper in front of the class. I gained so much more confidence in my writing. Now I know writing is rewriting.

I am older student. Prof. Brown is a helpful instructor. Some students should not be in her class and try to be disruptive. She tries to be fair to all students. I recommend her teaching methods because she wants you to learn and improve.

This class requires a lot of reading and writing. She wants a vocabulary journal with at least 100 new vocab words defined by the end of the semester. She is an awesome teacher though. She is very helpful if you ask questions. She gives extra credit for going to the writing center for help.

This is not a hard class but you have to keep up with the writing. Papers are about interesting subjects. I wish she taught another class. I would definitely take her again. She gives good feedback.

She gives very good feedback and makes writing a much easier process. You just have to ask. she is there for you. if she knows your weaknesses, she will give you ideas on how to be a stronger writer. English is a second language for me and she makes the assignments very clear.

She is fun! Even the readings that are not that interesting are made fun by her insight. Writing is fun for me now, too. I am excited to go on to future classes with what I have learned in her class.

I am presently in this class. I have enjoyed every minute even the quizzes. Mrs. Brown wants every student to try their best. If you work with her and show her that, she will work with you. I know I will really be a better writer by the end of this semester.

Just finished taking Ms. Browns class, shes an amazing professor. If you go to all the classes and turn in the essays in time you will pass easily. She is very strict in attendance. Shes very helpful and is passionate in teaching. No tests but she does give a few quizzes but they are not difficult. Definitely recommend you take her.

Proffesor is very nice and helpful. Attendance is a must, the textbook is also a must. Go to class every day, and take notes. She is very helpfull if you ask questions and for the essays she gives extra credit if you go to the writing center and take her the yellow paper. She is very nice and understanding. Gives pop quizes also.

I took English 21 in winter 2017 and Prof. Brown was great. I'm taking English 28 with her this spring 2017.

Took her in Spring and had to write 4 papers for homework, and 2 papers within the class. Doesn't grade the papers with traditional grades, but with check marks. If you skip class or leave early, she will make you write an additional paper. She will call you out if you do not have your book in class.

Ms. Brown is awesome. Her knowledge and interest in helping her students learn the process of writing well is thorough. I know that I will use her techniques in all my classes that require writing. Thank you, Ms. Brown. I will keep and use my notes and of course the vocab notebook.

I have been out of school for several years and feel lucky to have taken Ms. Brown's class. She was clear in her instruction and reminded me of lessons about English that I had forgotten. I am looking forward to more classes because of the enjoyable experience in her class.

Professor Brown's English 28 class was one which I am so happy that I had taken. One of the most sweetest, considerate, and creative person I have ever met. She really cares about your education and wants to help you in any way she can. I recommend her 110%, and would love to take her again. Wish I had her in all of my classes.

I was scared taking an English class during Covid, but Ms. Brown made it much less stressful. English is my third language and I was nervous. She paid attention to students and helped me know the basics of writing. I am more confident now and glad that I didn't drop. I recommend her. Lessons were clear. I took her for winter, so the workload was heavy; anywhere from 2-4 assignments per day, an essay at the end of every week. One of the nicest people in the world, and her stories actually pertain to the lesson. She does ramble and interrupt herself a lot, but it's not too bad. Prompts are sometimes hard to understand, but she clarifies if asked.

One of the professor's favorite line is "don't do it for me, do it for yourself." I took this class during the Winter semester which is a lot of work in a short time. This class requires you to be present and getting in touch with your personal side. An all-around great teacher who wants the class to be easy for everyone. I recommend 100%.

Hey. Ms. Brown is a great prof. and had her during covid/zoom. Some of her lessons were similar to H.S.but you had to pay attention. She required more detail and research. Lectures would help us see what the writers would really mean. She answered emails quickly. Because of her class, I am taking classes in a major that I know will be my career.

I was five years out of high school and Professor Brown was my first teacher when I decided to go to college. Lots of reading and writing, shorter and longer assignments, including research. She's very patient with all students and gives great feedback. She tries to prepare you for life after class. The readings and discussions made you think.

Absolutely the sweetest professor I've ever met. Has a tendency to be pretty bad at explaining her assignments, but will always clarify via email & is a lax grader, so you'll likely get full credit even if you mess a few things up. If nothing else, take her for her godly lectures. They seem off-topic, but pay attention and they'll be worthwhile.

If you have any fear of writing, Professor Brown will help you overcome it. English is my second language. I now feel much more confident in writing and critically thinking in the English language with no fear of "writer's block." Writing all the assignments and receiving the feedback was very helpful. I was nervous taking a class again after a few years out. This short semester reminded me of what I had forgotten, plus many more. The readings, videos, and powerpoints made this nonsynchronous class doable. Lessons were clear. I learned a few that I will use in my career and further classes including time management and new writing techniques

She is the best professor I've taken I am honestly hoping and waiting for the day she teaches English 103, she's very understanding the book wasn't necessary, and yes participation and attendance matters as long as you do that you will pass, her main key is to help you improve and give confidence in your writing.

Ms. Brown's class will prepare you for future classes at university...and life. When you take future classes, you'll see. Just pay attention on line and in class. All the assignments and discussions matter and will help you at the end of the semester with your final essay. The tutors at the writing center really help, too.

Lucky to have had her as a professor. She truly cares about your success. Her class is easy as long as you put in the work. Never cared for English, but she made it fun. Highly suggest. One of the best.
