Dr. Jensen is very straightforward but courteous. You'll make an "A" if you listen and follow her instructions.
Dr. Jensen is a great teacher although I took her telecourse, I still felt like I was part of a class. She is very helpful. Workload can get heavy at times but she is straightforward. No tricks on test. Only what she has told you. Highly recommended!
I took her for World Literature and she was a great teacher. She had very good lectures for an online class. She was very helpful as well. I would recommend her for a teacher online or in class.
Her assignments, apart from weekly short story reading, were not what a normal 1102 class should have been. We had to do an annotated bibliography which is usually a graduate student assignment.
This teacher is not nice and has a smart mouth. She doesn't care about her students and doesn't listen well either. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone not even my DOG. She is a unfair teacher!
Telecourse - taped lectures informative but dry. Do what she ask and you will do well. Never felt part of a class, no interaction. Quick responses.
Lots of reading. Tests have many trick questions, and she is not very nice or helpful, in respect to a students life outside of school.
Class is very boring and her test had lots of dates on them. Who ever heard of an English teacher asking for dates? I though her class was hard and boring and I am an English major. Don't waste your time.
Dr. Jensen is very straightforward and professional. She outlines very clearly what her class will be like and what information you should know for her tests. She is dry but knows her stuff. Her tests would be impossible if you did not thoroughly read the assignments, notes, and lectures. I got an A in her class because I did what she asked.
There is a lot of reading involved, but her reviews are the bomb. She gives you everything you will see on the test. You have to study, and don't be intimdated by her long syllabus and expectations. You can ACE her course.
If you reread the lecture notes and any of her postings regarding the literature you read, you will ace her tests. It requires work, but it is very possible to get an A. She is very helpful and always answers emails when you have a question. Her research assignment was very easy (annotated bibliography, only 3). Great class!
Quick responses when you email a question to her. The assignments weren't that hard. I did the entire class on my lunch break at work basically. Pay attention to the online lectures and postings and read the assignments and the class is a piece of cake.
Online Class. Test are very difficult if you did not thoroughly read the assignments, notes/lectures. The real problem: too much material for her to pull test questions from - makes it difficult to prepare thoroughly. Be sure to always post a thoughtful reply on the message board for each assignment - this will help bring your grade up at the end.
Clear instructions. Assignments (terms & questions) were exactly what were used on the tests. Must study those assignments to pass the 3 tests at testing center. Annotated Bib. was extremely easy. Discussion postings required though easy and she even makes posts.

Great class, she keeps it intresting, even though it's online. You have to really study for her tests. If you do, you will make a A for sure. Research paper is easy, only one page long! Great lady, fast responses to questions! Definately recommend to anyone.
Dr. Jensen is a great online insturctor. You really have to work to get a good grade. However, she responds to questions, discussions, and wants students to succeed. Highly Reccomend.
I loved her. I took the online class and it was not very demending. We did use the text book a lot so make sure that you have that. Most of the test questions come from her lectures and her discussion. Only 3 test and and one easy research paper that is only one page! TAKE HER!!!
This teacher was extremely awesome. Lecture notes couldn't be any clearer. The research paper is only one page, and I was freaking out before doing finishing it, thinking I was going to fail the assignment. I ended up getting a 95! It was a great class, and you read a lot of interesting classic literature. Great course take it please!
Dr.Jensen's class should not be taken if you do not wish to read or if you are unwilling to study. If however you understand that this IS college and you want to be challenged and learn something while you are here than her class is a absolute must. You will learn more than you expected and do more than you knew you could. Dr.Jensen, THANK-YOU!
I've taken Dr. Jenson online twice. She's great & knows what she's talking about. Clear notes & clear on what will be on tests. If you really read the notes & material, it'll be good. There's reading involved but it's an ENGL class so...yeah. 1 thorough posting per reading assignment, 2 tests and 1 paper (1 pg long). EASY A...just do the work.
Very direct. You have three assignments and that's it. Great teacher who understands that you have other courses. I would recommend this teacher...it can't get any easier than this. One thing, you have to go to the campus to take her test (even if you take her online course)but she gives you two whole weeks to make it in for your test.
She is a very good teacher, But her test are very hard with only 20 questions!!! Her test also cover too much information. You only have 2 test and 1 essay so that make up your grade.A lot of reading is required and the reading is time consuming. I took her online and it was very hard to keep up.Just be CAREFUL!!
The tests were very difficult to prepare for - there is just too much material to digest. However, you can make up for this by posting well though-out responses to the weekly study questions. Also the research assignment is very easy compared to other English classes.
I guess I'm the only one who doesn't like this course. I work fulltime, have another online class, and a class on campus, but Dr. Jensen's class takes up all of my study time. I still failed the first exam. I even withdrawed from a class so I could have more study time for her class. I'm more of a math wiz than lit. I hate her class.
i am taking her online course now. i wish i had dropped it. she is NOT clear on what will be on the test. i did everything she suggests to study for her tests, and then some, and have failed two of the three tests. her homework is easy. would not recommend to anyone who's taking multiple classes or working full time.
The course is designed to be easy for the professor. This is why you will only have 4 assignments; 3 multiple choice tests (20 questions in 15 minutes and you can't skip or go back to questions) and a whopping ONE page (double spaced) annotated bibliography. So, if you screw up on just one, you'll screw up your entire grade. What a joke.
Best online teacher I have had. If you follow the recommendations she makes on how to study, you will ace the exams. If you don't, you'll probably bomb. I got alot out of this class. If you follow her recommendations for the exams, put some effort into the posts, and do the research paper, which I thought was very helpful, you will do great.
I found Dr. Jensen's tests very fair. She tells you what you need to know and if you know it you'll earn an A. Just the right amount of work--3 tests and a paper + postings that can be fun. She posts on everything too so it's like being in a classroom. I think her class was great. I wish I had taken her for my comp classes.
Before this class, I hated poetry. Now I love it! Dr. Jensn helped me understand things. Research assignment also helps you understand literature. GREAT online teacher who answers e-mails around the clock. Not like a high school class, so expect to work but you'll learn a lot and be a better student!
Dr. Jensen is a great professor. She is very clear about the topics on her tests. If you study, there is no reason for failing her tests. He responds to emails quickly and is very helpful with the research paper requirements. Do the work required and you will be just fine. Thank you Dr. Jensen for being a fair professor. GPC needs more "Dr. Jensens
Beth Jensen's class was a great learning experience. I really enjoyed reading the material and the online interaction with the other students. I highly recommend this online class for any student who needs to take the engl lit course.
I've taken a lot of online courses and SHE knows how to teach them. Very clear, engages the class with lots of discussion, almost instant responses to email--couldn't improve anywhere. Only 3 tests and a paper, but you must particate in discussions. You learn as much from other students as you do her. Great class, interesting material-- take her!
RUN AWAY!! Tons of discussions that don't count for grades, she only takes off if you don't do them. Only four assignments that count towards your grade; if you bomb one, you will not do well in the class. 15 min. to complete the final (not enough time). Tells students not to withdrawl and then gives them a bad grade. WORST PROF. I'VE HAD @ GPC!!
BEST PROF I'VE HAD @ GPC!!!! First online class I've taken that was like a college class, not high school. If you do the work, u will do great. If u don't, u won't. As simple as that. Learned a lot about research and literature. Can't wait to take her lit class in Jan! Fair teacher who answers e-mails ASAP.
Took it online. Sort of a joke. 3 test, one laughably easy paper (it's one page, double spaced). The tests are short (15 minutes for 20 multiple choice q's) and to make sure you read the material. I don't think I really took anything from this course. Waste of my time. Easy if you're a motivated student.
Dr. Jensen was one of the fairest teachers I have had. Lets u know what's expected and she's reasonalbe in what she assigns. She wants u to read and understand the literature, so she helps with her lecutres and discussions. Doesn't weigh students down with a bunch of busy work. Learned more than I thought I could in a lit course. Great onlineProf
Great class. Learned a lot about American Lit. Really liked the way she organized the class and returned papers ASAP. Exams were fair and she gives u the opportunity to succeed. Recommend her to anyone who wants to learn alot and have a teacher who's fair. Great online prof.
Ms. Jensen was a good teacher. I took her online and she is very helpful. The class requires a lot of reading and postings.
Dr Jensen's class requires a lot of work - tons of reading! I took the class online and we spend a lot of time on discussions that counts for nothing. The quiz are easy, however they cover a lot of information so if you study the wrong thing you may not pass the exams.
Great teacher! Dr. Jensen is very clear on how and what to study. You have to do a lot of reading but it turns out the material is not that bad. You have 3 exams and 1 annotated bibilography to do and that's it. She gives you all the material to study so if you get less than a B you didn't do your part. Take her class!
Dr. Jensen is one of those teachers you feel privileged to have taken her class. It was an online course and lots of reading; you had to stay on top of the deadlines but her instructions were clear and expectations were reasonable and done with thought. You really felt like she shared a little of her passion and knowledge with you.
Best teacher i've had. Class is organized and she made me love literature. Great expereince.
Fifth Online class and the best. Excellent teacher whose organized and interesting. e-mails back in minutes. Really enjoyed the reading, even the Puritans! Recommend Dr.Jensen.
Dr. Jensen's online class is great especially if you like reading. If not, it IS reading that you can relate to and not extremely boring. She is a great teacher and I'd take the class again. My one neg thing would be that b4 the exam u'd need to go back to review the stories read. With busy sched u DONT retain spec lines quoted n stories! Class-B+
Great online class. Looked forward to"attending" class everyday. OUr class was like a group that met on a regular basis. We got to know each other. Dr. Jensen loves am.lit and you can tell. Took alot of my time to read everything but was worth it. Thanks for the experience Dr. Jensen!RECOMEND THE CLASS!
As my first online professor, I totally enjoyed her class! She is very thorough and helpful. You will not regret your decision to join her class!
I'm a hardworking student & have taken online classes before. This is a nightmare. 20-page syllabus (no joke) with all of these requirements that aren't part of your grade, but will count against you if you don't do them. Way too much to read; over 100 pages sometimes. I dropped this class immediately. Not all of us are English majors.
This online class is crazy. 20 page syllabus which has nothing to do with your grade. Exams has 20 questions and you are given 20 minutes to complete it. You must know each and every poem and reading for the exam. You MUST post on the discussion board every 2 days. CRAZY!
The"20 page" syillabus was of great help. It's an online class, so I was glad the prof gave the info upfront. Too bad all my online teachers don't. Great class-I learned a lot--lot more than in my current online class. Recommend DR. Jenson.
I am taking this course online. The test is so hard, and not enough time! I understand that we should know the answers before taking the exam, but we need some extra time to flip through pages to find the correct answers. She is ridiculous about the test time.Have to write discussion but it doesn't even count and points will be taken off if dont do
This class is very difficult!!! 20 page syllabus, 20 minute test that counts for 75% of your grad.Test are to short for the information covered. You write a lot of discussion post and if you miss one she takes off 5 points from a test grade. If you like literature take someone else. Her grading is to hard and you will become discouraged.
This professor is unreal. 20 page syllabus is filled with threats. You're given 20 minutes to complete a 20 question test, and 27 discussion posts worth nothing BUT if you miss one you'll get a 5 points grade deduction. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
If you want to learn about American literature you take this class. The professor is organized and fair. She covers everything you need to know in the syllabus and answers e-mail asap. If you study and do the assignments, you can earn an "A" like I did.
If you take this class please take it alone. If you don't you will not make a good grade.
Really learned a lot from this online class. If you do the assignments and keep up with the class you'll do great. If you don't you won't. Wish professor Jenson taught the next Am lit course. Thanks!
Great class, teacher is organized and answers e-mail every day. I really enjoyed the reading assignments and lectures.
Never thought I'd like a English class but Dr. Jensen's lectures and discussions are great. I really have learned a lot about American literature---and actually enjoyed it! Recommend the class. She's fair.
Great class and I'm sad to see it end. I really learned a lot about American literature. Good teacher who is organized.
Took her for American Lit online. Absolutely hated it. She teaches English and takes it WAY to seriously. Average class grade was a C. Not a student-friendly teacher like the hard science professors.
I never thought I would say I enjoyed an English class but I did. And I never thought I would say I got an A in an English class, but I did. I really enjoyed the class and thank the professor for helping me to appreciate literature.
Learned a lot. Recommend the professor and the class. First time I actually liked an English class.
Reading Assignments are a bit much and the discussion posts are hard to keep up with so pay attention to the syllabus. She can be rude in her e-mail responses so be prepared. Should have aced this but she only grades 3 tests and 1 paper. No drop grades, no second chances. Mess up 1 test and kiss that A goodbye!
You have to do the assignments but if you do you'll do great in the class. I have a A now and I just followed the due dates. I liked a lot of the assignments but especially the Poe short stories.
She is absolutely the worst teacher I have ever had. I go to a really good university but took a class at GPC because I could not fit it into my schedule at my university. This woman made the class unnecessarily confusing and when you contact her via email she often replies with one sentence emails. Was harder than my 1101 class at my University.
The worst professor ever. She is incredibly rude in her emails and does not seem to get the concept that it is an online class. She makes her lectures and course materials on iCollege hard to access and her tests are 20Q done in 20-30mins. She will rip your essays apart for little mistakes. I made 1 lil grammar mistake and got 10 pts docked. SMH!
One of my best online classes and a lot better than my last composition class. She's organized and the assigments are easy to follow. I recommend Dr. Jensen.
This professor was not at all helpful with questions. She would not give feedback for improvement or learning. Whenever I emailed her with questions she either never responded or responded a couple weeks later when it was no longer relevant. I do not recommend her at all.
I really learnd a lot about American literature . Professor answered e-mail the same day even on weekends and was helpful. Class was easy to follow.
Jensen, has everything outlined. If you have a question it can most likely be answered through the course content. I suggests doing the discussions to keep up with the course work, even thought it is not required. The tests are HARD and only 4 grades in the whole course. READ and REREAD and make sure you do the writing and you'll pass. Barely.
Easy to follow course and the tests were strait forward. Organized class. Easy "A."
Every thing was laid out from day 1 so it's easy to plan. I got a B on the first test and A's on the rest and a A on the paper. good course!
I took Dr. Jensen for both comp and for literature, and she’s the best! You don’t have to wait for e-mail responses. Easy organized classes. I liked comp but I LOVED Am Lit. I really enjoyed the works we read and discussed. Her literature lectures helped me with my history class. Sad I can’t take another class with you Dr. Jensen!
This was the best experience I have had at Perimeter. Prof. Jensen is a fair teacher who understands that adults are working and have family issues and she works with you when problems arise. I really appreciated the support she provided. During a tough time, I was still able to earn a A because the professor provided support.
Am. Lit was great. Easy “A.” Dr. Jensen is available whenever and made the class interesting. All the information is there so it’s not confusing like some other online classes. She has a really great organized class. She loves American lit and you can tell it. HIGHLY recommend her and the class!!!
She is an excellent teacher. She is available if you need help and returns emails that day. The class is easy as long as you read the literature and take part in the discussions. I recommend this professor, she is real fun and super nice!
The only grades were the 3 exams and the annotated bib. There were discussions that help you learn but they weren't mandatory. If you did all the discussions properly she would give you 2 more points at the end of the semester if it made a difference. The tests are fair and cover the material the discussions are about
Hear back from professor even on weekends. Learned a lot about Am lit. Recommend the class.
If you email her, she will respond in a 'smart' way. She does not communicate with her students, at all. Her rule is to refer to the syllabus for EVERYTHING. So, you are 100% on your own here. She is just there to grade your work.
Run from this teacher. She do not want to help you. All she want is a check. Her testes are not from the lesson. No extra credit.
This teacher gives a you tests that not related to the poems that you have read. Does not list her phone number, so you could speak with her for claity. If I had not read these poems in high school, I would have been in trouble.
Best online class I've taken. Organized and interesting.
I enjoyed the reading. Instructor is always available and helpful.
Best online class I've taken. Had some duds this semester but I recommend Dr. Jensen.
DO NOT EXPECT FEEDBACK OR A RESPONSE! WORST TEACHER EVER! How are the discussions not required but points will be taken off of my final grade if I do not complete everyone? She doesn't accept 2nd submissions so I did not convert my paper into pdf and I received an F but she did not even read it to give me feedback.
I learned more about how to write in this class than any other. If you follow the instructions, you will ace the course.
I put off taking lit but I ended up loving this class. Class lectures were so helpful and class instructions easy to follow I recommend the Dr. Jensen!
3 exams, 1 paper, and mandatory board discussions. She lays the whole semester out from day one and is very clear on expectations and requirements. Always responded to my emails and was very helpful. Do the work as she asks and you will get an A!
3 papers 2 test. The test are really hard only 30 min. And and 30 questions. Takes off major points for missing commas or misspelled words on essays. Discussion post are mandatory but you get ZERP points for doing them but if you miss 1 each one is 5 points off final exam. Would NOT take again
I recommend the class and the professor! Good experience.
I liked the course so much I plan to take my literature course with her next semester.
I really enjoyed the reading assignments and the professors lectures.
It's a lot of reading and very long readings. After the readings you MUST do a discussion post and reply to one other classmate, no posting the same question until all questions has been posted. The great thing about this class is that there are only 3 tests and fairly easy with study guide. PLEASE keep up with the posting date there is A LOT!
I really enjoyed the reading assignments and the teacher's lectures. I thought the exams were fair and easy to prepare for. I would recommend this online class with Dr. Jensen.
I didn't like the we only had exams to base the whole subject on it. Also only gave us a day to take the tests, so if you missed it then you can't take it or ask to take it.
I liked the class, especially the short stories. The writing assignments weren't bad either. I plan to take her literature course.
I didn't think I would enjoy literature but I did. I recommend the class (Am Lit) and the professor (Dr. Jensen).
As long as you do the work and read the assign stories, you will be fine in this class.
Dr. Jensen puts a lot of energy into emphasizing how to get a zero. She makes the work harder than it needs to be. You have a Lot of postings which you get no credit for but will lose 5 points if not done. She makes you feel very discouraged. I think she does very well teaching how to get zeros. She likes talking about those. .
I learned how to research topics using citations. I enjoyed the short stories and discussions about them and was glad the teacher answers emails the same day.
I enjoyed the reading assignments and the class.
The work in this class is a complete waste of time. She gives a total of 23 mandatory discussion post that you do not get graded on. If you complete these discussion questions, you get 2 extra credit points at the end of the semester. If you do not, then it is 3 points taken away from your final grade for every question that you have missed.
Easy and interesting reading assignments for American literature. I enjoyed more than I did in high school.
This professor gives no effort whatsoever. It seems she created the lessons years ago and just reposts each semester. Grade is based on 4 quizzes only. She refuses to make herself available outside of class, NO exceptions. She doesn't care about anyone. She is going through the motions. She doesn't grade the discussion posts. Awful.
4 grades for Exams only . 25 disc post on long readings. Not graded but penalized if late!? 3 point deduction on exam4 for every late post past 3. Due dates were all over the place. No feedback whatsoever the entire year. Very disappointed in this course as I love literature, learned little and don't think I got the grade I deserved.
Knew the due dates from the beginning so made it easy to plan. Course was easy to follow. Most of the assignments were enjoyable.
The class is easy to follow and you get a quick response from the instructor. Short stories are easy to read.
4 exams and weekly discussions. No credit for the discussion but required, if you miss too many she will take off exam points. Idky she won't show the mistakes on the exam. Its possible to get an A on the exams but it's tricky to get a full 100 I thought she was overall okay but she focuses more on penalizing her students rather than helping them.
Exams are based mostly on her lectures which are well laid out. I enjoyed the literature especially the short stories. Good class.
Exams arent comprehensive. Once your done with each section you arent tested over it again. Made it easier to study.
Dr. Jensen is by far the worst prof. I have ever had, not only does she not care it seems like she wants you to fail, everyone takes this, it is not for English majors. This "English class" is test based, which makes no sense, there are 3 IMPOSSIBLE tests worth 25% each there's 22 discussion post u get 0 credit for but points taken away if not done
I liked most of the short stories and the assignments were easyi. It did not take as much time as other classes.
learned about different cultures and easy assignments. Easy A
I liked the class. Study guides she has make earning an A easy.
I would not recommend her to a friend. She puts things on the tests we don't go over until later in the semester making it impossible to do well on the tests. The essays are graded very easily though.
Professor Jensen is a solid choice. The course was easy. Grades are based on four tests. Three optional extra credit essays. Weirdly, points are taken off for missing discussions - that made it a little confusing. I bought the textbooks but honestly you could probably find the textbook online somewhere. Overall would recommend.
I ended up dropping this class the first week, she has 150 ways you can fail and no extra credit. Graded by 3 essays, 3 exams and 3 tests. Exams are 25 min, many discussions with no credit but grade docked if you miss any. Any little thing and you get grades docked. I get she wants good papers but imagine losing 10 pts over a single extra space.
This class is an easy A. I will recommend taking this class 100 out of 100 times. 4 exams of 20 questions and very short and easy discussion posts.
Great class.
Easy class. Discussions weekly. You can't fail this class. Easy test. If I'm not mistaken you can get a pdf version of the textbook online.
The syllabus was convoluted and confusing. It demands we never reach out to her so absolutely no help with anything. She deducts as much as 20 points on exams if you miss any assignments. Also, no grades or feedback on discussions. I turned in 95% of my work but I still feel like I'm failing. 0/10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
Professor Jensen was not helpful at all! do not take this class. The syllabus stated she doesn't do any extra credit. The lectures were not helpful at all! Exams were only 25 mins and were extremely hard.
Would not recommend, especially because this class isn't even really necessary. She made it so hard for no reason. You have four test grades, and 200 discussions that aren't for a grade, but if you don't do them, you get points taken off your exam. She's NOT understanding in the slightest, so don't miss a THING. also, she'll take a week to respond.
Professor seemed not very involved in my online class. 100% of our grade was just four 25 min, non-comprehensive exams (no final). 3 extra credit opportunities - if you answer an essay prompt, you get 10 pts extra credit on an exam. We had to do discussion boards - they don't help your grade, but they will hurt your grade if you don't do them.
Avoid this class if you can - the syllabus is confusing, the professor is unhelpful, and the grading is harsh. However, unstuck AI was a lifesaver for preparing. Overall, a tough class, but bearable with the right study tools.
She was very uninvolved in the course and not understanding at all for late work. Graded by 4 tests that are somewhat difficult and she has many discussion posts that aren't graded, but hurt your final grade if you do not do them. One extra credit essay. Overall would not recommend for american lit online.
Worst prof. ever. Is not involved in the course at all. Most of the work is discussions that are not graded, but if you even miss one she will dock A LOT of points on exams. I got a 100 on everything but missed a discussion here and there because of work and she docked 60 points off an exam. Who does that?? Very confusing class structure.
