Perhaps the least friendly professor I've had at Western. She constantly gives snarky responses to valid questions and her office hours are for one hour at the same time every day so if you have a class then you're screwed. She often teaches a backwards way instead of just doing algebra. She makes grading hard for herself so it takes forever.
She's alright. She'll crack jokes every now and again, but overall she just answers homework questions and teaches a little bit of new material. Really easy if you've take algebra in high school and did well. You can get away with coming to class once a week or so if you know what you're doing. Lots of homework.
She does a good job of explaining stuff but often uses obscure descriptions. Overall not a bad professor and she is very helpful during office hours. Be prepared for 1-3 hours of homework every night though. Her tests can be hard but not if you paid attention in class and did the homework. Class isn't mandatory but necessary.
Doesn't plan enough lecture time to make sure everything is covered before tests. Doesn't have many office hours which makes it difficult to arrange your schedule if you need help. Plan on getting comfortable at the tutor center and having a study group because you will need it to pass.
She is not a great teacher. She does not give your test back even after 2 WEEKS, she does not admit it when she is wrong, her lecture is unorganized. She is literally the worst math teacher I had. She gets confused on her own and the other students has to tell her she did something backwards, she puts stuff you haven't even learn on the test.
She's fine. Definitely helpful when you ask for it. Although she tends to be a few minutes late sometimes but I didn't really mind. Tests and quizzes are definitely difficult and she takes a while to get them back. She's a really nice woman and makes class interesting.
Beth is a good math prof. I liked her teaching style because she was very straightforward and clear when she explained how to do certain problems. She goes over some questions on the homework before class. I would take math from her again.
Beth is a good 118 professor because she doesn't try to rush the concepts and really does push understanding. Her grading is pretty fair and she really does try to help you pass. Also she does reteach worksheets after exams for points back on tough concepts! As long as you do the homework and ask for help if you need it she's a good professor.
An Amazing and fair grader. The first math teacher I have had that actually graded on my understanding and not just the answer I got. If you rely on partial credit Beth is great.
Beth is a nice person, but I was not a fan of her teaching style. I already knew all of the material but if I had not, I would have learned nothing in this class. She teaches each point in very confusing, and unclear ways. She is unnecessarily tough when grading tests, and hardly ever has time to answer everybody's questions.
Her teaching style is alright, her classes tend to be big so if you're looking for more one-on-one teaching you'll need to look elsewhere.
Homework isn't graded (ex: 2 out of 0), but it's assigned every night. She cancelled class a few times, but did not give any explanation until several hours after the fact. Takes a very long time to return homework and tests. Vey disorganized. I felt like she wasted my time, even thought the class was a GUR
Beth is an amazing professor if you like to sit in uninformative lectures, being lost in tedious homework sets, and having a low C class average. As a side note, ask if you can use a notecard on the first exam because we could have but no one asked her so she decided not to tell us.
Take Beth's class if you like to spend hours teaching yourself things that should have been explained in class. She is late daily, her lectures are confusing, and has even admitted to being "a lazy grader." Went to her office hours for help and finished the assignment with her, only to get it back later that week with an F on it.
Worst math teacher I have ever had. She constantly messes up the examples she does for notes (lots of half done examples too) and answer keys for the homework making your notes and answer keys awful study resources. However, she's an incredibly tough grader and expects you to do the problems that she messes up, don't expect much partial credit.
My entire class bonded over her horrible wardrobe, harsh grading, and general dissatisfaction of the class. She often meantioned "if you come to class tomorrow" which made us feel like she didn't want us there. The final exam is HARD and worth 250 points so you can do great in all exams but the final and not pass. She was always late.
Very confusing lectures filled with mistakes that had to be corrected, and rarely covered all the material for homework. Often late, and once didn't even show up without warning. Tests were unnecessarily difficult, and her grading was quite harsh (little partial credit). I'm sure she's a nice person, but by far the worst professor I have had.
Had a worse record for coming to class on time than any students. A common wonder by our whole class was how she had a job as a professor. She was unclear in lecture, for example one day I couldn't go to class and taught myself a topic. The next day everyone was confused on a topic and I cleared it up b.c. she confused herself with her explanation.
So I only took her Math 99 class and she was really helpful for us students who aren't great at math. She's a genuinely nice person and I felt cared for in her class. I definitely recommend her for Math 99
Her homework assignment is pretty bad and very vague. She does not teach you much of anything, and I guess she hopes you get your information from google.
I don't know why she's getting such poor scores on here. I really enjoyed her as a professor. Although her methods of teaching in class may not mesh with some students, it's important you go to her office hours. She'll really work with you to make sure you succeed in the course.
She would lecture on one section in class and the homework would be completely different. She shows the easy stuff that anyone can do and then you take the exams and youre screwed because she puts problems on the test that shes never taught you how to do. I would never take her again. The difficulty of her lectures never matches the exams.
The math department at Western is nothing to brag about. As for Schivitz, she is caring, devotes a ton of her time to office hours, and genuinely does her best. That being said, I wouldn't take her class again. She gives homework every night (often in unreasonable quantities), her lectures are very scattered, and tests are nonsensical. Good luck...
Beth is good at teaching to people who aren't math oriented. Tests are clear and never anything new. Lots of homework, but that's just because it is a math class. Good feedback on quizzes to prepare you for the final. You do want to go to class because sometimes she will talk about stuff in lecture that's on the test but isn't in homework.
This is honestly the best math professor I ever had and she restored my confidence in myself that i can do math. She is very clear and explains math concepts very simply, then actually applies it to real world situations. Not only was this a pretty easy to follow class, but I actually learned a lot of useful things.
She's a good teacher, who tries her best in teaching the course, despite not being given a lot of class time to go deep into the subject. I don't like math, but she is fair, helpful, and you are more likely to do well in this class than say in Math 112. Review the chapters even after taking quizzes because the final is cumulative and difficult.
She doesnt explain the material enough and it makes the tests and hw really hard, a lot of material is covered every day very fast paced and not gone over more than once, and she isnt understanding about problems with the work and is not very helpful outside of class. Make sure you staple your work or she will give you a C for no reason
Beth is nice, but this class goes way too fast. HW every night. Quizzes and tests switch every Friday. I liked the structure of the class, but her lectures are sometimes rushed since everyone has a lot of HW questions. She also confuses herself and ends up giving the wrong info. I would recommend taking 114 & 115 instead of this class.
Beth is a great teacher for those who aren't great at math. Expect a math assignment every night and quizzes at the end of each week. She gives a small amount of time at the beginning of each class to talk about questions for the homework. All power points are posted online, but I'd still recommend going to class. Overall, very good teacher.
Beth cares a lot about her students and their success in her class. However, she makes it very difficult to be successful on accident. She takes up half of every class with questions from the homework. Then, maybe does half a lecture and expects us to do homework consisting of material she doesn't get close to covering. Then repeats.
Beth was one of the worst math professors I have ever had. She was rude to students during class and during her office hours. She would spend a huge chunk of the class reviewing homework questions and then wouldn't have enough time to give a good lecture making it hard to do the next homework.
Beth is probably the same as all math professors, she lectures the material and we take notes. Her lecture are clear and easy to understand. However, at times she can be a bit rude when you don't understand something. Her grading is fair and she is very accessible outside of class.
Lectures where well structured. You can use a note card on all test including the final. All formulas are give on tests as well. She also drops your loses test so that really helps. I definitely would take her again.
Average math professor but struggled with getting tests back within a reasonable amount of time. Thought she was kind and helpful but seemed preoccupied with other things throughout the quarter. Grades fair and teaches well with many different examples.
Super kind and enjoys what she teaches. In stats the answer is always correct or incorrect there is no in between. With that said, even though this is the case she is an extremely hard grader so always try your best to discuss with her about possible points back.
arguably one of the worst teacher skills Ive ever had. I tookpre-calc in high school and now am struggling in her class. Shes nice enough, but her teaching style is garbage. Her pacing is fast, and most importantly, does not properly prep you for exams. She falls behind, then loads work on a day or two before the exam.
Beth was probably one of the worst math teachers Ive ever had. Incredibly rude to her students, as well as not spending more than 20 mins on material, but spending 30+ minutes on homework review. Her office hours are more focused on one person although there is an upwards of 20 people waiting to ask questions. Over all very unorganized prof.
Beth is the worst professor I have had yet. She is passive aggressive to her students when seeking help and doesn't grade quickly. It took her almost three weeks to grade our first exam and grades questions on an all or nothing scale. If you are looking to teach yourself and still pay tuition credits then she is the right teacher for you.
Beth is probably the worst math teacher Ive had. She may be a nice person, but she is condescending and unavailable for help when you need it. Her tests are extremely difficult and do not reflect the lectures/homework/course. Would not recommend to anyoneeven if youre good at math or youre not.
At first, I thought this would be an easy class because I took pre-calc before but hell no. It was the hardest thing I have ever taken. 1 quarter to learn lots of material. There is no time to cover everything in depth so it's like she skips half the information. You WILL need to talk to her outside of class to learn more in depth. Hard class, oof.
Very unorganized with lectures and very hard to follow along. she is not good at answering questions and by the time you are doing homework youll have no idea whats going on.
Worst teacher I have ever had, and would not wish this pain on anyone. Does not teach in a way that is able to be understood. Never showed up to office hours that were given. Doesn't grade things on time. Answers your questions with more questions.
Lectures are a bit hectic, but thank the department policy for class length. Don't skip lecture, though! Beth is easily accessible, always kept her office hours except one sick day, and gave plenty of help and chances to earn back points. Office hours were awesome, plus there were several tutoring groups each week. If you failed, it's on you.
Goes insanely fast. Quizzes and tests are way harder than hw and in class work. Keeps plenty of office hours though. I dont know how you could pass without any extra help. The tutoring center helps and theres study groups. Be ready to spend a lot of time going over the material. Cant say Id recommend taking a class with her. Minimal notes too.
Maybe it's partly because school is online, but this class has been TERRIBLE. She doesn't even teach, just uploads her old ppt slides online for us to read. I need more than that for a class at this level. Answers hw questions 10 min before hw is due (seriously). Also grades everything at once and insanely late so good luck knowing pre final grade.
I am hoping that this was because of the online quarter so I wont give her a 1 but unless youre good enough to teach yourself math stay way from this professor. No lecture just PP slides. And doesnt grade anything until the last possible second, like the Monday of finals week. Definitely avoid until campus reopens.
We have online classes this quarter and professor Schivitz has been awful. She doesn't record lectures or host zoom meetings, she literally just uploads the powerpoints (many of which had typos/incorrect info) and expects us to retain the information. I've learned more through other online resources than I did from her class. Very disappointing.
I have been in College for 3 years, and Never, (Including Highschool) have a had such a awful teacher. we are weeks behind, she has a personal crisis every other week. I am aware we are in a pandemic but this is insanity.
Lectures are often confusing, leaving out key details. Not accommodating at all regardless of current situations. Explains concepts poorly, and leaves me watching Khan Academy or some other resource to teach myself major mathematical concepts.
I didn't receive grades on any homework before the first exam, and I didn't receive a grade on the first exam before the second. The lectures were posted hours, sometimes days late, and the lectures themselves ranged from useless to misleading. I would have received better instruction from the textbook being announced over a broken train intercom.
Probably the laziest teacher Ive ever had. The lecture videos are worthless, and good luck getting any clarification. She is always making an excuse for why we havent gotten the past 2 quizzes graded then grades everything at once very harshly. No participation points, just dont do it she doesnt know how to teach.
Took Schivitz's asynchronous class, and I didn't find the lectures to be very helpful. Had to use external resources to learn material frequently. Wasn't responsive to emails, and forgot to honor my disability accommodations on every exam. Exams and homework weren't too bad, though having 85% of our grade be determined by exams wasn't cool. Meh.
Beth's class was strange. She never gave feedback on assignments and then she was kinda MIA for the rest of the quarter after the first test. She wasn't in office hours and she kept on delaying lectures such that we didn't complete the course material. She claimed that she was sick, but now that I read her other reviews, I feel like this is her MO.
Schivitz's class is a nightmare. She is more concerned with preventing cheating than actually having a functioning classroom. Her lectures are extremely confusing and low quality. Couldn't even reach out to classmates for help because she hidden everyone from each other and barely responded to emails at all. I have no idea how she's still teaching.
Literally the worst math instructor I have ever had. Did not care what her students thought of her or if they were learning. Didn't show up multiple times to her office hours and when student's brought up issues she would not listen and instead went on a whole email rant of why she was right and everyone was wrong. Horrible childish attitude.
Not accommodating at all. Only goes over homework/quizzes in class and her lectures/explanations are unhelpful and contradictory- I relied on outside tutoring and Khan Academy to get through the course. She takes an incredibly long time to grade assignments.
Don't take a class through beth if you can help it. She goes incredibly fast and doesn't give enough time for the class to actually understand the curriculum. Lots of homework and lots of stress. I tried going to the tutoring center but they often don't know how to do it, or they do it different than in class. Save yourself before it's too late!
This class was hard, not because of the material but because of her! She would rush through lectures if we ran out of time. Exams were a lot harder than hw! She takes forever to grade exams! Lots of hw to do everyday! Good thing about this class is lowest exam score gets dropped and 2 lowest hw assignments gets dropped. Study hard if you take her!!
She never grades anything on time. We got our test scores for Exam 3 and 4 the Monday of FINALS WEEK! She allowed us notecards for every test and threw them away afterwards saying "I didn't know you guys would want them back". When asked to curate a study guide for the final she said "just study everything". (1/2)
We are STILL waiting for a bunch of homework assignments to be graded. She has video lectures made and refuses to give us access to them, even if we have to miss class due to illness or COVID. Horrible teacher. Horrible class. AVOID AT ALL COSTS (2/2)
Literally the ONLY upside is that this is the only math class you need to take for your entire college career IF you pass. Keyword: IF. She has no respect for her student's time or money. She is consistently late on grading and there was one week where we missed 3 days of class because she canceled.
the hardest class ive ever taken. would not accept late work at all, but if she cancelled classes three times a week, thats okay! she expected us to accommodate for her, but would never do the same. she would also speed through lectures like we knew what she was supposed to be teaching us. horrible grader and had no respect for my classmates and i.
Especially as a freshman, this class was beyond frustrating. Class was constantly canceled and whenever I emailed I hardly got a response. I never knew what to work on because almost none of the assignments were graded or handed back until the final week! She made sure to let us know we were basically to teach ourselves through the textbook. AWFUL!
Is bad at her job
Gives barely any information for lectures then throws tons of homework that you won't understand how to do.
Beth is literally the worst and laziest math teacher I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. Her TA's seem constantly stressed/confused/overwhelmed and the material jumps around from algebra 2 concepts all the way to high level calculus. No late work accepted. Lectures almost never contain the material needed to complete the homework. Horrible.
Beth was not friendly at all. I was marked 20% off homework assignments because I turned in 3 pictures of work instead of 1, because it was too difficult to grade. So I got points taken off of my homework because I showed too much work. She rushes through class. Would not recommend to anyone.
Schivitz isn't easily accessible to her students, making class more difficult than it should be. Office hours were limited and grading was slow (often upwards of 1 month for small assignments + exams). Lectures were unorganized and she often failed to answer student questions. Incessant self advocacy is the key to success in Schivitz's class.
Constantly would forget how to do a problem when she was teaching. She wouldn’t give proper information about what was going to be on the test. She just struggled to even get her point across in lectures and just was very hard to follow. The concepts aren’t hard to understand but she confused me more then helped. YouTube was more helpful.
She is not a good teachers. She will not explain anything properly, and move at wildly inconsistent pacing. She assigns very large portions of homework and barely gives help on them as well as putting most of the blame for lack of understanding on students. She talks in an extremely condescending way and acts as if everyone is an idiot.
If I could give a zero as a rating for this professor I would do so. Brainless teaching with zero explaination. Reads off a script and writes on a chalk board with a projector screen right behind her to make things worse. Whoever signed her off to obtain the title as a college math professor is taking hard drugs. 5/10 highschool teacher at best.
This is my second rating on Beth, to further state that her outrageously quick and unresponsive teaching style is what makes this class hard, I benefit more from wathing a 5 minute youtube video on graphing logs more than her 3 day lecture on the topic. I pray that anyone registering for Math 114 sees this page and avoids her at all cost.
Beth Schivitz is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. She has an absolute inability to explain things in an efficient and concise manner. Sometimes in class it seems that she doesn’t even know what she is talking about. On top of this, she made many mistakes during class causing further confusion. Avoid Beth at all costs.
If you struggle with math, don't take this class. The teacher is frustrating and doesn't answer questions, expecting students to know all the concepts beforehand. The homework is never related to the classwork, and the exams are confusing and elaborate. Don't expect to learn very much.
This class made all of my previous math trauma just fizz back up. HORRIBLE instruction. Math 114 should not be treated as a weed-out class. Terrible beyond words.
I had the worst experience in this class. I generally enjoy math but Beth made my life so difficult. I've never failed a class but with her lack of answering/going over questions made me. We would have review days and a student would ask a question. She'd say "I don't want to get into that right now."
Beth Schivitz is a frustrating teacher to work with. I find her very intimidating to approach for any help, and at times her lessons feel very fragmented. There are quizzes every week/other week, and she grades them very aggressively. She is also disorganized at times, and will often give us conflicting information between canvas messages and class
Failed this class after passing 112 with a high B. I never even met Beth, I had one of her ta's, but she is horrible. She doesn't respond to emails and neither do her ta's. She does everything late. You will be set up for failure.
I disagree with these reviews. She goes through lectures quickly but she is clear at the beginning of the quarter that students should be reading the textbook as well, so if you do that there shouldn't be a huge issue.I was out with covid and she sent me a playlist of video lectures less than an hour after I emailed her.
I had Beth my freshman year. I'm a sophomore and I'm still haunted by how badly that class was. The only reason I passed was because I'm good at teaching myself. The lectures tend to confuse you more than they help. The only reason I rated a 2 was because it was very kind of her to give me pre-recorded lectures went I went on a leave of absence.
I think I initially had a bad impression, but really she has been good to me. I had issues with some of the work with patterns, but to be fair most of the tutors I tried to get to help me did too.
Immensely tedious class with absurd grading rubrics. It seemed like they were trying to find places to take away points. Taught by a TA, it was his first time teaching so I don't blame him, but the material was not taught very well and the only source for this information was the TA. I had to contest every score I received and was dismissed.
Beth is very nice, and sweet and means well for the class. However she grades things incredibly late so you rarely ever know your homework or exam grades before finals. Her lectures are read off of power point slides and theyre hard to understand. Be ready to do a lot of extra work for this class.
Initially I didn't like Ms. Schivitz, but later I began to find more benefits than the couple things I had issues with. Pros: Gives good lectures Willing to explain answers/process Lets you ask questions about the homework and goes through the entire problem Cons: Cavas was a little messy Hard to follow some sections (for me)
Beth is really sweet, but her teaching style wasn't for me. There are about 3 exams for 114 (plus the skills test) and homework every day. I didn't feel well prepared for the final at all, as we only had 1 review day. Not the worst class in the world, but definitely not my favorite. That being said, Beth is very helpful during her office hours!
she fly's through the work in class and doesn't answer questions very well and in my experience she would show up a couple minutes late to class
Seems I'm having similar difficulties with her lack of teaching, and comprehension of material. I'm going to start utilizing her office hours and the tutoring center more, because I know I can pass with a low grade but I do not want to take 112 again, nor have Schivitz.
Daily homework, graded for attendance, homework graded for accuracy, exams graded for every tiny piece of the problems. Because of this you can understand the content very well and still get a crappy grade. You will only get a good grade if you are a total perfectionist. however, you get notecards for exams. Class is mostly run and graded by TAs.
My 114 and 115 were taught by TAs who were great, however Beth's curriculum was horrible. The required textbook was unhelpful for learning pre calc and the organization of the classes did not leave enough time for both hw Qs and learning new concepts. She also gave tests that were incredibly hard and too long for the short 50 min we were given.
In all honesty, this was one of the worst math classes I have ever taken. Not because she was terrible or a hard ass but because her teaching style is so terrible. Be prepared for homework not matching the test, WRONG ANSWER KEYS, TAUGHT BY TAs, PSYCICS QUESTIONS, and CONFUSING TEACHING METHODS. Just don't take this class.
I usually get A's in math courses, but I barely got though with an A-. It's kind of what I expected from a 5 credit math course: homework every day and tough grading. You get points off homework if you have wrong answers. However, it was helpful being able to use a note card for exams and a regular sized paper for the final as well. Taught by TAs.
Do not take a class with her if you don't have to. She reads her lectures off of PowerPoints that are 20-30 slides long and confusing. Homework is graded by TAs who only tell you that you're "incorrect" with no further explanations. She teaches Math 099 like it's Math 112 and complicates things far more than they need to be.
She is a nice enough professor but makes the topics shes teaching way more complicated than they need to be. I've learned a lot of the material beforehand but her explanation of it makes no sense. She takes forever to grade exams and doesn't explain where we got it wrong rather just marks it incorrect.
She over complicates topics that should be simple. She is a tough grader and will mark you wrong for not showing work the way she wants you to. Furthermore, instead of teaching she has you do group work to learn. It takes her forever to grade quizzes and homework is graded on correctness. Do not take her if you can.
Instead of actually teaching the class you do group work. If you get a problem wrong on homework or quizzes all you're told is that you're "incorrect", there's never any feedback and you aren't told what's wrong. She's the definition of unhelpful. I'm probably going to fail this class and if I had a different professor, that wouldn't be the case.
Homework assigned every day, tests usually every week, or within every 2 weeks. Grades depend on group work, so don't be shy it'll screw over your group. She sort of knows what shes talking about but if you struggle with math, you'll surely struggle in this class. Only time I learned anything was when she had a substitute.
She takes weeks to grade group work and quizzes, doesn't explain things well, and talks to students in a very condescending way if they're confused or stuck on something. I learned absolutely nothing in this class and struggled the whole time, students in the tutoring center were more helpful than her. To put it simply, don't take her class.
Beth has the interest of her students in mind and is ready to answer any questions when they appear. She is nice and approachable. I dropped this class due to inconsistent criteria. Repeatedly, Beth would promise tests graded by a certain date and consistently push them back. Her communication of class concepts was also unclear and incomplete.
I will say right away that this prof. is insanely overhated. This class is nowhere near as bad as the reviews make it out to be. The group projects are fine and are easy most of the time, she's decent at explaining things (encourages asking questions too), and overall she's not a bad math teacher. The book however SUCKS. (Bad Wording + too much HW)
Loved her as a professor. All you need to do is make sure you show up consistently. It is test heavy and homework frequently.
Took her class in 2022 Fall, it was alright. All the content was on PPT slides and there was a decent amount of whiteboard writing to learn from. Statistics is not that easy at first glance, but her teachings were enough to get by on her assignments. Don't slack on them though, there's only so few so they have a very high weight.
Would take entire points off in homework if you made one singular mistake in the work, not even the answer. There is basically no preparation for any quizzes and is all based on homework. Takes forever explaining simple concepts which could definitely be used to cover more difficult questions.
Whatever you do do not take a class with Beth or her TA's. I had to learn all the material myself or on Khan Academy on my own time. The tests also don't reflect what we learned in class or the textbook. You are set up to fail.
Homework is only to be handed in in person, with few exceptions. No late work accepted. She is definitely sweet and chill, but the class content is not covered very well. There is an exam every few weeks (5 total) and there is no written review, you're just asked to bring questions. This makes it difficult to study. Make sure to attend.
She isn't understanding of accommodations, I got accepted to receive them and she said that they didn't apply to the circumstances, she made me miss a test and I can't retake it.
I really enjoy Ms. Schivitz. Her lectures are thorough, clear, and cover the exam content exactly. This is the first year where I really understand why certain principles and formulas work and when to apply them. Homework is graded for correctness, but there are ample correction opportunities. You will succeed if you use the available resources
Easy class. Could see how she wouldnt be the best prof. for someone who doesnt akready understand the subject too well
Beth is great compared to other Math 112 teachers. She knows what she is talking about and teaches the content clearly. She will help with any questions you have! She is not very understanding for accommodations but she is a much better teacher than other teachers for this class.
I thought Beth was very good! She was good with feedback especially if we were confused. Her grading is not as strict as the syllabus makes it out to be but still is very test heavy. There are usually two homework assigments after each lecture but they are manageable and very quick.
Beth has very clear lectures and explains the content well! She answers questions thoroughly, is willing to help students, and is a timely grader. I have heard of other Math 112 professors being confusing in their teaching - Beth is clear and the best professor to have from what I have heard and experienced. Lectures are important, don't skip.
The class is tough, with homework graded strictly and exams not aligning well with the material covered. Attending class is a must, but the TAs tend to explain concepts better than the professor. Using unstuck AI and other resources like Khan Academy helped me prepare for the challenging assessments.
Not a good professor.
she failed me by one point after now answering any of my emails all quarter after trying to contact her multiple times about my absences due to my dying sick mom, mind you who died finals week. She neglected to communicate and She would sit in class on her phone and make us do book work for hours and would make you feel dumb for having questions
beth wasn't bad but she didn't explain concepts very well and the homework/tests had wayyyy harder questions than what she went over in class.
Very difficult course but a great professor, she explains things well and is lenient IF (and only if) you show up regularly and actually try/participate. Tough class but I learned so much in a short span of time.
I would rather have her than one of her TA's She is super laid back, I had her for 099 and 112 and passed both. She doesn't care about attendance or participation
Homework is due 24 hours after class (midday) no extensions or late work. Homework takes several hours to complete (think 10-30 minutes per problem) Notes for TA's were terrible and had little to no actual instruction. I've had her for other classes before and unfortunately she's a terrible professor. If you want to succeed, don't pick her.
