Quizzestests are beyond impossible.
She's okay. She talks really slow sometimes and can be a bit boring. But it's government, it's not too bad honestly.
While she's diligent about providing lecture notes for the class, it's impossible to challenge or question anything--which is the whole point of higher education right?--because she will take it personally.
Lectures are kinda tedious but she's more interesting than alot of professors out there. The tests are 50 multiple choice- not particularly difficult. Class not mandatory but I would advise going. There's NO work aside from the tests so that's nice.
It was a pretty easy online class. Reading the textbook counted as a portion of the grade but it was easy to do well. The quizzes are specific and cover material from lectures and the readings. She always seemed really nervous to me but she prepares well for the class.
Professor Albertson loves her field and her students. She is very knowledgeable and very helpful. Her emphasis is on public opinion so she's all about group discussion, twitter, surveys, etc.
Fantastic! I loved her, she was for sure my favorite part of GOV310L (besides Brendad of course), and she always seemed to know what was going on and was very easy to understand and talk to!
The class itself was decent but she seems to be not very receptive to new ideas that differ from her own, which is strange because this is a politics class. Please try to open up and encourage different viewpoints.
Really enjoyed Political Psychology with Prof Albertson. You have two papers to read for each class and for tests you have to define terms in the context of the papers. Super doable as she goes over everything in-depth in class. Final (and only) paper is based on survey questions you design yourself, but she helps you with every step along the way.
Ugh this class was very irritating. She runs the course in a way as if everyone in the class were government majors. She is just "ok"at best, and is very unclear about what you need to do in order to do well on exams. I also found her to be unfriendly whenever I talked to her about the class in general. Does not talk about anything besides politics
This was an excellent class, it was my first online course at UT and it was quite enjoyable. The lecture was very entertaining, it was as if I was watching a tv show, and both professors were very knowledgable and passionate about the subject. I never read the textbook or book, I just attended class and received an A. Would totally recommend.
One of my favorite professors. She is so smart and informed on every political topic imaginable. Spoke to her twice in person even though this is an online class and she is very kind and helpful. Emailed her after finishing her class to ask for advice and she replied with a helpful answer and also encouraged me to come to her office hours anytime.
Professor Albertson is smart, caring and real, and I hope to be her when I grow up.
I love Prof Albertson. She is the most inspirational, caring and funny professor I have ever had. Although I have never actually met her in person I admire her greatly. This class is easy and I enjoyed watching her & Sean every day. I wish I were as cool as Bethany Albertson.
I loved Professor Albertson. She gets a lot of hate for being a little sporadic but I think she's really funny. She also knows everything about government and keeps her lectures interesting. You don't have to show up to class but it helps a lot if you do. Make sure to do well on the hw, its such an easy A. This class was not hard. i would recomend
She and Theriault made GOV a blast! Her nerdy love of Hamilton and Political Science shone in her lectures. She helped keep Theriault from rushing through the material and tried to make class fun with her John Oliver clips.
Professor Albertson is such a sweetheart. She puts the PowerPoints online so only about half the class shows up, but I highly recommend attending class because I really enjoy her lectures, and she often puts a few questions on the exams designed for those who come. Her tests are ridiculously easy and the only homework is textbook reading.
Professor Albertson is super approachable and always willing to help her students so I highly recommend her and her class! Lectures are super engaging; attendance not mandatory but is recommended, and it is not difficult compared to other classes here at UT. You do have to study and put in work for tests
Professor Alberton is so cute and sweet. She cares about her students and is passionate about government. Half of your grade is participation and the other half is in class pop quizzes, and the class has no final. As long as you pay attention in class and read the webtext, an A is definitely feasible
Professor Albertson was a very sweet woman who genuinely cared about her students. She tried her best to make it less tricky for the students. However, I thought some of her lectures were quite boring and you better off reading the web text. Attendance isn't mandatory and you can honestly not attend class and do well on the tests still.
Albertson is an amazing lecturer; she is passionate, but you don't need to go to the class unless you want to. The lectures are directly from the slides (posted on Canvas) and the test is mostly from the lecture. Skim current events if you choose not to go and you'll be fine on the questions she throws in there to benefit the people who show up.
I really enjoyed. but her syllabus doesnt match her test well so know everything. She was really funny. ONLY 3 TESTS AND A FINAL. hmwk due before almost every class. There is required participation at events outside the classroom (directions werent super clear). If you show up to class and take notes you will get an A. I didnt.
She's really great. Really makes the material super easy to understand. Grade divided up between three tests (25% each) and community engagement assignments, weekly readings and no final. Book you have to purchase online. She also likes to talk about current politics and current events which are interesting and can also come up on the test.
Professor Albertson and Professor Theriault teach an amazing class together. Skimming the reading, listen in class, and doing the easy-to-do assignments will guarantee an A. A few of the lowest grades on quizzes are dropped at the end of the semester.
Bad online class!!! Sean Theriault was a lecturer as well. Honestly, the class was easy at most times. The main grades are pop quizzes and community engagements. The pop quizzes were horribly written, lacked clarity, and 3/10 questions were not covered in class lectures or on the readings. If I could go back I would take an actual class.
I took Political Psych and it was great. She's really cool and interesting and makes her lectures interesting too! There is a solid amount of reading but if you actually do it the tests are not bad. Also the reading is interesting most of the time so it really is not that bad! Would def take this class again or another class with her.
She is such a wonderful professor! I've taken a government class before college, but I enjoyed this one way more! She helps keep it interesting and tries to understand the concepts we are going over in correlation to current events.
Online textbook was expensive, but its overall a pretty simple class.
Best professor I've ever had at UT. I took Political Psychology with her and she makes the class very straightforward. As long as you keep up with the readings and go to class, you'll be fine. There's a major research paper you have to write, but she guides you through it and helps you with everything.
Albertson is so nice and interesting to listen to. She understands that the subject is boring but tries to make it fun. Does current events in class which show up on tests, making attendance near mandatory. Tests are easy.
I learned so much from her and Sean even though I barely knew about government before taking this class. Taking good notes helps you so much on pop quizzes, which are usually done after a unit, so read the syllabus to see which unit you are on. Everything else besides pop quizzes is easy 100s as long as you answer all the questions you are asked.
Prof. Albertson and Theriault's online class was so engaging because they work so well together and not too much work! I wouldn't say I enjoyed the lectures (I'm not into government) but I didn't mind them
Bethany is a complete government nerd, but this was not my favorite class by far. 310L with Theriault and Albertson is structured more like a talk show than class so the lectures are pretty useless when it comes to the pop quizzes. The class is pretty easy but boring overall
Took this class online w/ Theriault. They both made the online lecture super entertaining, it felt like tuning into a show. The class is super easy, most of your grade is based on open note pop quizzes that come from readings and lecture material (don't really have to read, just skim/takes notes). Overall great/easy class.
I took GOV301L with Prof. Albertson and Prof. Theriault online and it wasn't too difficult. They do make you put in work to get the grade you want but if you're willing to put in time then you should be good.
I took GOV310L and I enjoyed the class throughout the semester, the problem I had with this class was that the grading scale that they used for this class makes absolutely no sense. I had a 90.22 in this class and for my grade I received a B+ although the syllabus said an A- is a 90-93%? They didnt even allow students to dispute grades!
I took Gov 310L with Bethany and Sean and they're great professors who love what they do. Anyone who says that this class is hard didn't put much effort into it. The pop quizzes are worth a large portion of your grade, but you take 13 and 3 get dropped. Most of the learning is done through the textbook and the lectures add supplement. Easy class!
This was the easiest online class Ive ever taken. Quizzes and reading credits were all open book. There was an opportunity for extra credit near the end of the class. A good grade is possible without putting forth too much effort.
Albertson is the best! She is beyond caring and truly wants the best for her students. I took GOV 310L online with her and looked forward to attending her class everyday. There are some pop quizzes and quirky community engagement activities that were easy if you keep up. Due dates and grading criteria are very clear! 11/10 recommend!!
If you have to take government, do yourself a favor and take this class. If you show up to class every day and pay attention it is an easy A. Bethany and Sean are so nice and they make the class very interesting by actually talking about current topics.
I took Albertson's class and it was fairly simple. There were no exams just 13 pop quizzes that are open book and she drops three. There is a lot of reading involved, sometimes up to 2 long chapters a week, but it is the only homework. There are also community engagement projects that are fun, just to get us involved with the community.
This is one of the easiest classes I took at UT. About 70% of the class is just participating and completing the community engagement activities which are pretty much an automatic 100% if you do them. The rest is pop quizzes which you can use your notes and the powerpoint slides for. This class got me more interested in gov without boring me.
There are pop quizzes, so attendance is absolutely mandatory. The good thing is that these quizzes are the exam grades so there aren't any high demand exams. The lectures are usually boring but the quizzes are not that bad as long as you study their powerpoints and main things from the textbook. Definitely possible to get an A.
Attendance wasn't "mandatory" but you could miss a potential pop quiz so I'd try to go to every class. It's nice to take this class because it's online. I never paid attention to the lectures and did well. Professor Albertson was nice and clearly had a passion for government. I'd recommend this class as an easy way to get rid of the gov credit
Taught with other prof. Live-streamed lectures, and there are pop quizzes. There are usually 2-3 weekly readings/questions you have to do. There are unlimited tries on those. If you read book summaries and watch lectures, pop quizzes should be pretty good. There are events you have to attend and write about but those are simple. No extra cred.
Bethany is such a genuine human being. She is absolutely fascinated with government but understands that its not for everybody. I took her online class with Sean Theriault and they both care about their students. Their class isn't mandatory, but they do have pop quizzes so its better if you are present in case one pops up. Highly recommend.
Professor Albertson is a phenomenal instructor and very passionate about her field of study. Her live-online course with Professor Theriault is interactive, easy to follow, and will inform you of current topics happening in our country. The pop quizzes are easy if you take notes on what they say, and the rest of the assignments are easy as well!
She is a very passionate professor and has an overall fun personality. She has very strict grading standards, though, and she sometimes goes on tangents. Reading the textbook is necessary to pass the challenging quizzes.
Took 312L 2020 elections class with her and Sean Theriault. 50% of grade is quizzes. They take top 8/11 grades. They are not very hard if you know a bit about US politics. The other 50% consisted of various assignments that you can get 100s on. I did not buy textbook. Pretty chill and easy class.
Good class. They pick your highest 8 out of 11 quizzes, 6 out of like 10 Electoral Engagement projects that are really easy and 30% of grade, surveys that count as class activities 10% of grade,&reading credits that are based on the chapters of the book, but you have unlimited tries, so its so easy to get 100,& no final. No late work accepted.
I really enjoyed this class. If you do all your work, it's an easy A+.
super easy class and lectures were really fun to watch. as long as you follow the syllabus and plan accordingly, it would be hard to not get an a
Amazing lectures! Class is fun an engaging, although textbook reading can get quite tedious.
This class was very easy to follow and the professors kept it interesting. You are graded on community engagement activities and pop quizzes plus a couple other things. The pop quizzes happen in class so although attendance is not mandatory if you miss a quiz you can't make up up. Overall the class you can easily make an A in.
Professor Albertson is amazing. The lectures were so interesting (her and Professor Theriault are SO knowledgeable) and really funny. Your grade is pop quizzes, community engagement, reading checks (easy) and in-class activities (NO TESTS) & they drop the lowest few of each one. If you listen to the lectures and participate, you'll easily get an A.
Their lectures are really engaging and the grades are clear. No tests or exams just quizzes. Definitely a good option to get your GOV credit.
This class was mainly graded by pop quizzes which make up 70% of your grade. the tests were unrelated to lectures and she seemed like she didn't know what she was talking about. You cannot see what you missed in the quizzes unless you go to office hours.
Really nice prof and an easy A. Just watch lectures, skim the textbook, and show up to class and you'll do fine. Lectures could get a little boring at times and the class being online didn't help with that. For the most part though they were interesting. Definitely would take again
I loved 310L with Bethany and Sean. They are a truly dynamic duo and better eachother's discussion and content during lecture. The class is graded by reading quizzes directly from the chapters and outside of class activities. The other half is in-class pop quizzes, so you will not succeed if you skip. Their lectures are entertaining and relevant!
Professor Albertson co-lectured with Professor Theriault, and they did use a lot of class time to "catch up." Most of your learning will be from the textbook chapters, with lecture serving as reinforcement of those concepts really. Pop quizzes worth 50% of grade, but other than that everything else = easy 100%. Read the textbook for quizzes.
She co-teaches with Theriault for US govt. Together, they are a great duo. Assignments consist of 12 pop quizzes (50%), and then the other 50% are easy A's (in-class activities, reading quizzes, and engagement activities). Read/skim textbk and take notes on lectures to pass pop quizzes. Your 2 lowest quizzes are dropped.
Co-taught with Sean Theriault. Both are great teachers, GOV is an extremely easy A, so long as you pay half attention and skim the textbook. Do not miss lectures, though, pop quizzes are very common, and in-class activities even moreso.
Online GOV310L class is relatively easy, but the pop quizzes are DIFFICULT. Quizzes are 50% of grade (10 min) and 50% easy assignments. Quizzes can be based on lecture or random information. No consistency with the quizzes; meaning, you can get a 3/10 on one and a 9/10 on another. Take it if you HAVE to, but beware it could ruin your 4.0 GPA...
No tests, but most of your grade lies on pop quizzes that are not retakeable. You can do moderately well on these if you just pay attention in class (like, all the way. no slacking like i did lmao). Reading assignments are easy and have infinite attempts. The CEs are interesting and sometimes even fun. A good government class with NO WRITING.
Bethany and Sean were okay. The assignments were all easy but some quizzes were kind of hard. I felt that they didn't cover some stuff that was on the quizzes which made them difficult. Overall, this class is okay but it was so annoying because they're boring, which makes it difficult to pay attention in class. POP QUIZZES make up 50% of your grade
Funny and very smart in her field, she makes up for more of the information parts of the lecture. Very easy class and pop quizzes can be fine as long as you read and listen to lectures.
Grades consist of Reading credits, ICAs, 10% each, guaranteed 100. Community engagement activities (30%) and 10 pop quizzes (50%). Community engagement is also very easy since most are surveys and short essays. They also grade leniently. Pop quizzes are MC and come straight from lecture slides. Overall, the class was very fun and easy.
Great Professor, just be aware of the pop quizzes. You can usually tell when there will be a pop quiz based on if you finish the content in the last lecture but overall a really easy course.
When I was struggling, Dr. Albertson and I met to discuss how to get better at the pop quizzes and she helped out a lot. While yes, they do talk about random things sometimes, this class is not hard. Read the lecture slides and use that information for the quizzes. It's an easy A-/A. :)
It was an extremely easy class. Light homework load before every class and a couple projects but that's about it. The actual class consists of break out rooms where you discuss the assigned homework readings. I had a good experience with my assigned room but others may not so keep that in mind. Otherwise its a good class with interesting topics.
Dr. Albertson was incredible! Her and Dr. Theriault were a dynamic duo, and their lectures were very engaging. While attendance was not technically mandatory, there were pop quizzes (usually once a week), so if you choose to miss class you run the risk of missing a quiz (as well as an ICA). Overall it was a very easy class, and I recommend it!
Such an amazing lecturer and person. If you're taking GOV310 or 312L, I would highly recommend taking it with Shawn and her. The lectures are engaging and you really learn so much from the course. They aren't trying to trick you on quizzes and everything is super straightforward if you listen to lectures and read the book.
Watch the lectures after class on 2x speed -- profs waste a lot of time. Quizzes make up most of your grade and are open note so take notes on the lectures. Find the textbook online for free. There's no exams for this class, just quizzes and small projects (attend a political lecture, register to vote). It fulfills the credit and it's low effort.
Pop quizzes but easy, they are cool and class was easy, just have to attend them all
Expected this class to be an easy A but got smashed by the pop quizzes, which make up 50% of grade. The quizzes cover super detailed things so rewatch every part of the recordings, but it's a total waste of time because they always talk about irrelevant topics. To Prof. BA: don't use your students for research if you don't care about their grades.
This class was useless, but the upside is that it's an easy A. The professors put in little preparation, and they seem to just discuss random things in the news.
-Not a terrible professor but has to teach with Sean so unfortunately they both make the class a pain -Only talk about their personal lives and does not cover the necessary materials for the class -Pop quizzes are weekly and make up most of the grade -Lots of textbook readings and lectures are a MUST WATCH or expect to fail -More bearable than Sean
She really cares about the subject she teaches and it shows in lecture. For 312L, just beware of the pop quizzes and its a guaranteed A.
Super engaging lectures with valuable information. Professor Albertson always seemed accessible and active. Attendance isn't technically required, but there are no makeups for quizzes or participation activities (there is cushion built in to allow some absences). As long as you show up and pay attention, this class is an easy A.
Class isn't the most engaging but if you're looking for a pretty easy A this is a good class to take. Just take notes on the lecture and do the readings and you should be able to get an A pretty easily. Quizzes are about once a week and make up a majority of the grade.
Took GOV312L w/ Sean Theriault online. Very easy A, no outside-of-class effort required because of open-note quizzes. Textbook can be easily found online for free - don't waste money on it. I never paid attention in class, felt more like a podcast. Take these two for GOV312 if you can, they are the easiest and overall best options.
I treated this class like a podcast but there is a fair amount of little assignments that you always have to submit. The lectures can get boring and a bit in the weeds at times but overall it is a pretty easy course. It is taught with Prof. Theriault too and sometimes they go on long personal tangents with each other that are a waste of time.
She's a nice professor. The quizzes were, for the most part, easy. There were some questions about very specific details, but even if you miss those, your grade will be fine. The Electoral Engagement projects were fun. Even though attendance isn't mandatory, you can't make up quizzes and in-class activities, so attend as many classes as possible.
Prof. Albertson and Theriault made GOV312 super engaging, and I liked how they were able to create a chill but educative environment, even through an online course. Pop quizzes every week or so, but they're not too bad if you're paying attention to lectures. The projects assigned are actually pretty fun, but make sure to submit everything on time.
Phenomenal professor. Lectures were concise and communicated exactly what students could expect to see on the pop-quizzes.
The pop quizzes are hard but doable. My grade was lowered due to the pop quizzes. The professors are okay but pretty dry to be honest, but they are not the worst. You should probably read the textbook if you want the best shot at this class. I am a CS major and didn't have time, so I struggled on the quizzes.
Take this class for your government requirement! It was super simple compared to other government classes I've heard about, only graded on in-class quizzes, election engagement projects, and reading credits (a few things in each category get dropped if I remember correctly). Lectures can get a little boring sometimes, but worth it for the easy A.
Very inspirational professor. Online government class was relatively easy and caused me to not just vote, but become more involved in the midterm elections. Sometimes pop quizzes would be over broad information that I was confused on how I was expected to know. Overall, an interesting class where I learned everything I need to know about elections.
Loved this class, was super relevant to current news and politics and helped motivate me politically to vote and be involved. Pop quizzes could sometimes be a bit challenging but thankfully there were drops & plenty of credit from other activities to bring my grade up. Just actually attend and pay attention to the lectures & you'll be good.
This class should be easy but the pop quizzes were so challenging. I will get all A's except this class which is crazy. Take another gov class. their lectures were unorganized and hard to follow
This class is pretty simple, just read the textbook and take the popquizes and youll be fine, there are reading credits for each chapter that you can retake multiple times, and then you can do 6 out of _ Community Engagement projects. Very easy to pass and get a good grade.
The class was actually extremely informative about the current election, alongside essentially a review of AP US Government from high school.
Loved this class with Albertson and Theriault. Very interesting and definitely informative when it comes to politics. A couple small projects and “pop quizzes” every Mondays, easy to get a good grade. Definitely pay attention to lectures because the quiz questions are very specific.
This class was synchronous and fully online, and consisted mostly of pop quizzes that went over the prior lectures. Though the questions were very easy, and you could always common-sense them. She taught together with Prof. Theriault, and their class was pretty engaging for someone not particularly interested in the subject matter.
Professor Albertson is so funny and so smart. She is an inspiration. I was extremely depressed my senior year and her class was one out of two classes that made me get out of bed. She really ignites the class room and the work and content of the class is sooooo rewarding. I loved this course with my whole heart please take it.
The teacher is a little awkward at times but she very obviously cares about her students and gave an easy class. Make sure you show up there may be a quiz - however attendance is not technically mandatory.
