WORST PROF OF MY LIFE NEVER WOULD TAKE AGAIN

I took Prof. Gummo's online summer class hoping to get my dreaded math requirement out of the way. She's very condescending and rude, and not willing to work with you to help you be successful in the course. Don't even think about asking for extra credit. And lastly, she tends to talk to you as if you don't know what you're talking about.

This class is ridiculous. I'd literally rather have a statistics class with Satan. I took her online class and her grading policy is INSANE. I am a finance major so I'm used to difficult classes, but every time I send in a DQ, homework assignment, or project I get anxiety knowing she nit picks everything to death. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS

Professor Gummo is the most condescending professor I have ever had. Do not bother asking her for help in person or email. Would highly recommend taking this course with a different professor or over the summer at another college. Not worth the stress when you are not a math major.

The subject is not that difficult but she will take off for everything. Home works are graded very strictly as well as everything else. In order to pass this class, just to pass with a D-, you will have to put AT LEAST 10 hours a week to study and prepare. You will have a lot of sleepless nights. This was the HARDEST CLASS i ever took in college.

This class is SUPER HARD. Very difficult to get a good grade no matter how hard you try. Take only if you are a Math major and what to be a Statistician or a professor. Definitely not an undergraduate course.

DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!! Homework takes HOURS! You will be up all night and she makes the homework to confuse you. Exams are impossible to complete in the time given. STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY!

This is by far the hardest class I have ever taken. Gives way too much homework that you must do in order to understand what is going on in the class. Do not take her.

For those of you who will take Stat 2 in the future with her, good luck. Very memorable class. If you are a business major, it will be your hardest class ever. Try your best. Study at least 5 hours a week on your own as well as get a buddy to do the hw together. Do not try to survive by yourself if you got lost, because you will not pass.

Probably the hardest class I have taken at rowan university it was online and all of the due dates were very confusing. Very tough grader and instructions for assignments are very unclear and difficult. Overall this professor legitimately made my blood pressure increase and if you can avoid taking her I would.

In 4 years at Rowan this is easily the worst professor I've had. Heavy worded emails that have a condescending undertone all the time, makes you feel stupid for asking questions, heavy worded assignments, and expects perfection 24/7. I would never recommend her to anyone - definitely avoid taking if you can.

Going into the course I read the reviews on here. I thought that considering I excelled in previous statistics and math courses that I wouldnt do too bad. I WAS WRONG!!! this is the hardest class I have ever taken and it isnt directly related to my major. I am saying this because I care about other students... DO. NOT. TAKE.

I have never encountered such a rude teacher in my life. Her grading is beyond nitpicky especially with online assignments. You could have all of the math right and still get a B on an assignment because she didn't like the spacing of your graphs. comments she leaves on your projects are full of attitude. most frustrating class I have ever taken.

This is easily the worst professor I ever took at Rowan. If you email her a question, she will be condescending and make you feel little or "stupid". She provides no feedback and no help. Do not take this class.

All the awful things about her on here are 100% accurate. She is such an awful person, it disgusts me. I wonder what joy she gets out of torturing us. PLEASE if you love yourself a single bit, then don't pick her. I have never met a worst professor at Rowan. I always had some respect for her bc she is smart but her rudeness took that away too.

Very condescending. You WILL be there the entire class period. You WILL need an endless supply of printer paper and ink. And you WILL NOT catch a break. She takes off crazy points for the smallest things and penalizes you over anything and arguably everything. Only good thing I can say is she at least knows the material herself.

She picks apart every little thing and will take points off for writing symbol messily. Dont take her. Her office hours are minimal and shes disrespectful to her students. I am an accommodated student and she wouldnt let me have my extra 7 minutes for quizzes in class. I ended with a b- when I shouldve had an a -and I aced my stat 1 course.

I have never had a professor that took points off for every little thing. You can follow her exact notes and still cannot make her happy. She is, also, very demeaning when it comes to asking her a question or trying to verify information. Oh, and she WILL make it known if you annoy her and make her do more than she has too.

She grades like an idiot. It seems she grades tough so that she comes off tough so she will refuse to give full credit for any assignment. Horrible online educator. I can't believe I am paying for her course it is the worst course I have ever taken and she is not supportive in any manner she should be fired.

Professor Gummo is absolutely the worst professor I ever took in my collegiate career. I was in the final semester of my Bachelor's in Mathematics and she took every opportunity to make me feel like I was less than the sum of my intelligence. Then, when someone close to me passed away, she asked me to prove it to her for my time missed. DO NOT TAKE

unnecessarily strict on grading. Tutored other students in Stat 1 but failed this course. My grade did not reflect my understanding of material at all. Although I had an understanding of everything taught, I would lose points for the most unnecessary items. While withdrawing, the line to drop her class was wrapped around the building.

Professor Gummo is by far the most difficult professor I've had. She is very nit-picky about grading, especially exams. She counts for absence's as well as lateness. You need to devote so much time into this class that you forget you have other courses. Just be prepared for workload b/c I believe she is the only Stats 2 prof at Rowan.

Stressful class. Tough grader. She will take A LOT of points off for minor errors. I spent more time concerned with writing answers EXACTLY as she wants them presented rather than focusing on the problem. Much more difficult than Calc. This course definitely required my full attention. Never worked so hard in a course just to receive a B-. Avoid.

The toughest grader ever literally does not accept work if its not stapled, takes points off for spelling?, hands down the worst professor Ive ever had.

She teaches pretty well and in depth but it does not matter whether you know the material because she grades so harshly. She gives only 15 minutes for a quiz when it takes you at least half an hour to do it at home. She gives no breaks and no extra credit. Unless you know the material before you take the class, do not take her.

Legit will take off points for anything. This is a stats class and she grades for grammar and spelling. You can have the answer right and still receive a bad grade because it is not how she wants it. She compares herself being able to do the work to how you should do it. She has a masters degree and makes up the problems, she should know it.

Extremely hard grader, has very specific rules for how to complete each problem. Not helpful and has a weird way of speaking.

Look, great professor you will learn tons from her, but no matter how much you know the material, she is such a harsh grader its almost as if she grades to fail. She doesnt bend for anyone. Dont get me wrong, you will learn from her, but its legit her way or the highway

Worked wayyyyy to hard just to get a C. She is awful. Yeah she want's you to learn, but she also wants you to be a statistical god. I think 9/10 of us just want to take the class, learn something, and pass with a good grade. Oh and must I say she's so mean and soooooo sarcastic for no reason.

This is the first class I've had to withdraw from in all of my academic career. Please don't consider taking her online class, she hands you multiple assignments with the expectation that you have a spare 20 hours to complete them. I do like a challenge in my workload, but this was insane. Please consider another professor if you want to pass!

Absolute worst class I have ever taken. My last semester of undergrad taking a stats 101 class that is mandatory to graduate and I don't think I will be able to pass. Why does she put the wrong directions on assignments and make students go elsewhere to get the correct ones? I wish I could tell you. With everything she grades she insists that you meet with her. Nitpicks every assignment, directions are always unclear and gave me points off for citing my sources... it is illegal to not cite sources.. dont take!!

Prof Gummo does not care whatsoever about you. Let me make it clear that stats is hard enough as it is. I put 100% effort into every assignment and quiz and took notes and paid a lot of attention to lectures. Being that it was a winter fully online course you'd think she'd be more understanding, no. She is the toughest grader please be aware.

Yea, I had professor Gummo for online statistics and she is the worst professor I've experienced at Rowan University. Her formatting of work online is terrible and she allows no leniency in work. Her feedback and responses are incredibly confusing, rude, and not helpful in any way. Avoid this professor at any cost, horrible and rude teacher

I took it online and had a terrible time. teacher was rude and not helpful or flexible especially in a time like we are living in now. if you know what's good for you, don't take this professor, pick literally anyone else.

Worst professor at rowan! She doesn't teach you why or how stats is applied she just teaches you the formulas and expects you to be a statistician the next day. She grades for grammar and takes points off wherever she feels fit. She gets joy out of failing students, and hands back failed exams with a smile on her face. DO NOT TAKE GUMMO!

Straight up, dont take this class. You wont benefit enough from it. Take any other Professor. Your life will be filled with stress, bad grades, and webex meetings with this professor. I got a failing grade on a project because of bad formatting. The grades were always backed up by 3+ weeks. Expected hard work from students but didnt meet half way

This professor is absolutely awful at her job. Cant teach to save her life. You have to open 4 different documents of directions for one single assignment and those documents are more than just a page long. Save yourself the headache and gray hairs cause they dont change back. Take any other professor or just take the class at a different school.

Bethany Gummo is by far the worst teacher I've had ever. Just the complete lack of empathy someone can have is outstanding. Although she does know her work, she is very rude, stuck up, and very, VERY insensitive. Tough deadlines, a tough grader, I don't want to imagine the nightmare it is having her in person. Avoid for your mental health.

VERY deserving of poor ratings on here. DONT take her class unless you want to have several assignments throughout the week and have her grading it in the toughest way possible. She's very stuck up and expects the EXACT right answer for EVERYTHING. I'd rather take cold showers everyday for 3 weeks than take her course that she values over her life.

She is one of the worst professor I've ever had. Very tough and unfair in all grading aspects. I took this course online in the winter and I tried so hard and still barely got a D-. Majority of the class felt this way about her also.

She grades way too difficultly. She docks points for the slightest errors. Does not give help and when she does it is the vaguest answers that make no sense. Because of the outrageous grading she cost me my spot in my master's program. Now I had to change majors because I don't have the time or the resources to waste a year and then reapply.

Do not take this professor for stat II. I have always been good at math and have never struggled. My senior year of high school, I took AP Calc and passed the test. I am taking this class as a freshman, and just received a 65 on a homework that I felt confident with. Every homework is graded and sometimes you only have one question as an example.

Professor Gummo is a very hardcore professor. She is rude, condescending and does not grade fairly at all. If she already has a problem with you for any reason, she will find ways to take that out on you in your grades. She does not ever have a good attitude and if you ask her to repeat herself she will catch an attitude.

This is my fourth year at Rowan and she is hands down the worst professor I have ever seen. She will mark you late if you are 5 seconds late to class and give a zero on homework because of it (yes this actually happened I'm not exaggerating at all). This class is a JOKE. This professor firstly assigns seats in a college classroom. I felt as if I was in elementary school. If you are 5 seconds late she will take that into account and you will lose points as well as not get your HW graded. I lasted three class sessions before I told myself enough was enough I dreaded going to her class.

This is by far the worst professor I have ever had. If your class is at 8:00 AM and you show up at 8:00 AM you are late, and she will not accept your homework. The same rule applies for any class time. She's an extremely harsh grader and you will have red pen scribbled all over your work. She's extremely passive aggressive. Goodluck.

I made the mistake of trying to see things through and stick the class out. I should have dropped after the first week and gotten my money back. Do yourself a favor and don't take this professor, and if you have no other option I suggest dropping immediately.

Prof Gummo is absolutley awful. She does not care about her students or if they do well in her class. In fact, it seems like she puts a lot of energy into ensuring quite the opposite. She does not offer help, has a horrible attitude, and is not accomodating to students even if they have a registered disability. Avoid her class at all costs.

Homework assignments are graded by correctness, only written by hand, and submitted in person. Assignments are always due by beginning of NEXT class, not next week. If it isn't the way she wrote it in class, points will be taken off HW, even on the exams. Everything is unorganized, talks too fast, and rants. Do NOT take this professor; she's awful.

DON'T TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Way too punctual and a harsh grader for just HW. She has many errors on her own assignments and docs; too hard to read and understand. She keeps sidetracking in her lectures and talks way too fast. The only right way to do things in this class is to do it her way: Word For Word. I regret sticking with this class...

Do not stay in this class, get out early so you don't loose money. This professor is the hardest grader I have ever come across. HW is graded like an exam and you may have HW scores less then 1%. Does not teach well, though she is helpful outside of class. If you are late, cannot turn in HW. 2/3 exams are after WD date. Stay away. Subject very hard

Dropping first day, she took my phone because I got a phone call and made me stay after for a 30 minute lecture.

I am dropping this class immediately, this professor practically was bragging about how she wrote up TWENTY FOUR students on academic integrity violations in ONE SEMESTER. She also said that we are not to use tutors, YouTube, the internet, or any outside sources to learn python. Unacceptable teaching practices, do not take course by all means.

I'm currently taking this course because I didn't listen to the reviews. I'm an A+ student and I'm finding it impossible to score above 70. She is a horrible human being with no care for her students. She does not treat people like human beings. Goes out of her way to humiliate students. Being a minute late calls for public humiliation. DO NOT TAKE HER! No tutors, no help is every allowed. You can expect HW that takes you until 5 am and takes off up to 60 points just for 1 wrong word. If you write a certain way that she "hasn't taught you", you can expect to fail. She doesn't like her life so expect to suffer. Also she's tenured, but she'll remind you.

Harsh, Strict, and Mean. She has very little tolerance for anything outside of her 80% filler 20% real-content classes. Professor Gummo's teaching style is pretty good. However, the way she grades and treats her students is unacceptable. People got completely different grades despite having the same things right and wrong, she belittles you (in front of the whole class) if you're wrong or late, and will freak out if you have your phone out for any reason in class.

Bethany is a good TEACHER; she teaches in a way that breaks concepts down in a way that I can understand. However, there isn't much grace given if you don't do things the way she expects. She's not welcoming when you ask questions and she's difficult to communicate with. I felt extremely uncomfortable in this class because of her attitude.

If she says do you agree one more time my head my explode. SAVE YOURSELVES!!!!

Professor Gummo is unlike any professor at Rowan. She uses her power to belittle and humiliate students in class for simply asking questions and makes you feel dumb for speaking up. Think of the movie MATILDA. Her assignments must be done WORD FOR WORD, or you lose lots of points. The same goes for the exam. Straight 'A' student, 60% on exam 1!

Worst educator I have come across throughout my years of education. You can never get 100% on hw. Exam 2 was 4 questions with multiple parts if you got one part wrong expect to lose all 25 points. Don't be late or she won't collect your homework even if class starts at 8am and you walk in at 8:01. Life is already hard she makes it even harder.

The fact her course is a requirement and you have to put up with her for 15 weeks is torture. This bitterness I see in her is something I expect in elementary school, not University! The fact Rowan hasn't done anything about her even with ALMOST A HUNDRED AWFUL REVIEWS FROM YEARS WORTH OF STUDENTS proves they need new people. Do something Rowan!
