Professor Rollins' Psych 101 course can be extremely easy or extremely difficult depending on how much work you are willing to put into it. Lectures reinforce what you read in the textbook, but don't really add information that will be on the test. If you take the time to read the book carefully, you will easily get an A.
GREAT CLASS AND TEACHER! Very nice and helpful. Tests are multiple choice and are very easy if you read the book and pay moderate attention in class. In class she shows a lot of interesting/helpful/funny clips that she rounds up from the internet.
I disagree about text book use- If I take notes in class, I don't even have to look at my book to get an A on her tests. The book is completely unnecessary if you go to class. She's funny and the class is interesting and easy.
Go to class, take notes and do the study guide and you'll do well. (And will hardy have to read the book, tests are all on your notes) Also she lets you do extra credit studies so thats helpful (You can get 3% points extra credit). She's willing to repeat stuff in class if you ask. Put in the work and you'll get an A.
very easy. can do well on exams by simply coming to class and taking notes...i wouldn't buy the book if i were to take the class again. she's really nice and funny.
This is the Psych 101 class to take. Not hard, and she really got me interested in Psychology with all the videos she showed in class. Just answer the questions on the study guide and you'll be in perfect shape
This is the Psych 101 class to take. Drop one test. Class is optional but interesting if you go. Tests are based on the study guides. Take psych with Rollins, I've heard horror stories about some other 101 professors
I have fallen absolutely head over heels in love with this teacher. She is clever, beyond interesting, very odd/unpredictable/intriguing, beautiful in every aspect--thoroughly amazing. She was an incredible teacher, but take my rating with a grain of salt. Objectively, however, she was the best teacher in the psyc/nsci department.
If this class is not an easy A for you then you're just retarded.
very good! take her!
She is pretty good. The class held absolutely no interest for me, but she still managed to make it mildly interesting, and I actually did learn something. I did basically zero work for this class and still got a decent grade. With any effort at all, and some interest in the subject matter, you should be able to get an A.
Absolutely great. Teaches class with ease doesn't care if you go or not but definately helpful to attend. So nice, super sweet, and super cute!
Fantastic, funny lectures. Possibly obsessed with sex, as she mentions it almost every class. Only grades are the few tests, so be prepared to study. Makes hilarious asides about her odd husband and makes best effort to incorporate multimedia. One of the best teachers I've ever had!
Very easy to understand, but BE PREPARED to study way before each test as there is a ton of material on each one, and the tests are the only grades that matter in this class. I made at least 75 notecards per test. The course material is very interesting, but GO TO CLASS if you want to comprehend the material -she will do random attendance checks!
Not very friendly and very weird. Will call you out for talking. Tests are annoying, so is she. Slides are interesting.
Rollins rules. She is quirky and hilarious and spends a lot of class hating on her husband. You will learn and love psych by the end of this class. Come to class and complete the study guides and you're golden. She drops the lowest test grade! Extra credit ops! TAKE ROLLINS.
Nice lady. Lectures are useless, but you must attend because she throws in a couple of stupid questions (eg. "the man named Bob in the video we watched had which disorder?") that are impossible to get wrong if you attend and impossible to get right if you don't. Phony test names are based on her MMO companions.
DO NOT BUY TEXTBOOK; did not use it once, made an A and didn't have to take the final. take very precise and detailed notes. is strict memorization and very interesting. professor rollins is very funny and very knowledgeable about psychology and is hilarious when she talks about her family. there are questions on the tests about the videos she show
cool lady. straight from the slides and she doesnt make things to difficult. test questions can be tricky, but do able if you read and listen carefully. definitely a good class to take. she plays cool videos too
Only took 4 tests and one final. All were not too easy, she also drops the lowest one. Lectures are straight from the slides and she will answer any questions you have. You also don't have to go to class, but is usually needed for an A.
great class. rollins is extremely quirky & talking to her outside of class can be a bit awkward, but do it. she remembers who does & is willing to help you out. tells great stories about her husband & family. go to class b/c test questions will be on random videos she shows in class. DO NOT BUY THE TEXT,didn't open it at all.
At first, I anticipated not going to class at all because it is not mandatory, but I ended up going to all of them because I learned quite a bit. Do the study guides for each chapter. That and going to class were the only things I did to make an A. Also, the extra credit is simply signing up for psych 'experiments' (i.e. easy). Never read the book.
She is awesome! The videos are great and really helpful. The test questions are tricky, but she is willing to help you if you take the time to go to her office. DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK! Class is not mandatory, but if you want an A you need to go.
Awesome professor. Rollins really gets into the subject. She's pretty funny with her stories and they're pretty interesting. Cool slideshows. Just go to class and do a bit of work and you'll be fine. Rollins really got me interested in psychology.
Took her for intro to psych. She turns potentially boring materially into interesting lectures with anecdotes and video-clips interspersed. Not exactly an easy A, but if you go to class and take notes you will do fine. Rollins is awesome.
Rollins is the best teacher I've ever had. She is fun and very easy to understand.
Great professor. Definitely go to class to get the notes. You can get an A without opening the book if you study her lecture notes and slides.
SHE'S THE BEST! I love this class. She makes it easy and you never need to read the garbage text book. Seriously, don't waste your time. Study your lecture notes for the tests and fill out her study guides and you'll get an A. She's seriously great.
She's really nice and makes the class really interesting! Class isn't mandatory (although she sometimes passes around a signup sheet). I would recommend taking Rollins!
do not buy the book---I did and it was a waste of hard earned money----memorize the study guide and attend all classes and take notes on every thing she says and do all the extra credit---and go review all your old test errors, ask questions in class, and rewrite all your notes after class and you will do well....do not talk in class .
Do not need to use the book, but need to memorize the terms for the test. She tries to trick you with questions and it is much harder to get an A than it seems.
Prof. Rollins is incredible! Best professor at Tulane. Funny, quirky, and knows how to make the class SUPER interesting. Go to class, pay attention to the slide shows, and you should have no problem getting an A.
Rollins is a great professor, she finds ways to make the subject matter interesting. Class is lectures, and all info from these lectures are fair game on the tests. If you go to class and pay attention and take notes you should do well in the class. She doesn't use the text book at all, don't bother getting it.
Big lecture class-- it seems like she doesn't really care what you do during class, if you're even there or not...has a sometimes funny dry sense of humor but always finds a way to make presentations a little interesting. Tests are harder than you might expect and with a bigger class it's important to go over the presentations alot
Rollins was a joy to have as an Intro to Psych professor. She makes the material interesting (she always has a funny picture on her slides) and she loves to throw in her own experience (I know more about her husband than I probably should). Her tests aren't a problem if you go to class and study. Strong recommendation.
Keeps the material interesting, adds in youtube videos and jokes around in order to keep the class engaged. 4 tests and a final. You don't have to take the final if you're happy with your grade. . Tries to trick you on the tests so you actually have to study but I got a B with minimum effort. Take Rollins for PSYC 1000
Really easy A. Just show up for class and take notes. She puts outlines and powerpoints online to use. There are 4 tests, and if you like your average on the first 4, you don't have to take the final. There's no homework or anything like that.
Didn't use the textbook, you don't need it. Best professor I had this semester. Lectures are interesting, material is covered at a reasonable pace, tests are multiple choice, and she drops your lowest grade(which means you may not have to take the final!) highly recommended!!!
Great teacher; really interesting class! No need to do any homework, just show up to class and take notes. Everything you need to get an A on the tests will be in the lectures. HIGHLY recommended.
Professor Rollins is an awesome teacher that cares about her students. Her notes are pretty straightforward and all of the notes are online so it's easy to miss classes. Great professor, highly recommended.
Please note how many comments have been written in the past month. This is indicative of a professor whose students are eager to write a review of him or her. I am among such students. Professor Rollins is brilliant. Her lectures are fascinating. The only class I've taken since elementary school in which I felt I learned something new every day.
Its a basic lecture class. She talks about her cats and husband a lot and its funny. She also uses lots of videos for examples, which is nice. She also gives you chapter outlines, slides, and study guides which are very helpful. Attendance not mandatory but very helpful. I also suggest reading the book before the lectures.
Rollins is a great teacher! Go to class and take decent notes. You will not need to open the textbook. Grade is based on five multiple choice tests. Easy, fun, and interesting class.
SHE IS AWESOME!!! VERY funny. I highly recommend this class. Class is mandatory because she shows a lot of videos and will sometimes put things on the test that she says in class but does not put on power points. She is very clear. You must study A LOT and take very good notes in order to do well but she makes class fun so you'll want to listen.
she is the best psychology teacher for intro and the best teacher I have had at Tulane. She is so clear in her notes and she is funny and shows great videos. Her tests are really hard so you need to take a lot of notes and go see her in her office to get her notes clear.
She's alright, but really not great. The tests are challenging even if you attend class and take good notes. She uses very bizarre names and the wording is confusing so often hard to grasp what is being asked. No way easy a, however, probably wont get below b/b- if you put in the work. Not the most recommended for psyc 1010 certainly.
Such a great professor. Really enjoyable class. Gives lots of examples in class, you have to go to pass.Tests are vague and difficult to do well on.Class average is a b-.Very approachable, encourages class participation.Wish she taught upper level courses, there is prob someone easier for psych 1010
An incredible teacher who explains almost everything during lectures. If you do need to open the textbook, she tells you the pages in her study guides. Use them! All her material on the test comes from them and your notes from lecture
One of my favorite professors. makes class really interesting and is hilarious. you don't really have to read the textbook if you go to class. You do have to study for the tests, but not too bad. I would definitely recommend her!
Professor Rollins is amazing!!! She covers so much information, but it never seemed overwhelming. She always has a funny story relating a teaching to something she has experienced (usually her cat, mother-in-law, or husband). I found tests to be a little difficult, given the amount of time I put in studying, but an A or B is definitely attainable
If you're taking PSYC1000, TAKE ROLLINS! I mean, just look at every single comment! She's an incredible teacher! The class is always entertaining. She tells hilarious stories and shows funny videos and pictures. You definitely need to study for the tests but if you go to class just study your notes and the study guides she gives you you'll be fine.
Awesome teacher-- if you go to class and pay attention you will do well. Her tests are straightforward and she is really interesting and funny in class. I never bought the textbook and never needed it. She gives outlines for the tests and if you take good notes and look at the slides and notes she posts you will do well
Professor Rollins is a great! She teaches the concepts instead of just rattling off definitions. Her lectures are always interesting and engaging. If you're taking Psych take Prof. Rollins!!
Lectures are pretty engaging and she posts the power points (although stripped down versions, so still take notes) online. I never used the book. Sporadically takes attendance so it's best to always go. Tests are pretty hard and go very in depth into her lectures. Take notes and study a lot and you should do ok.
Most interesting psych class I've ever taken. She makes the lectures interesting (yet not mandatory), but if you attend class you won't need to read the textbook. Her tests are decent if you study your notes, I would highly recommend taking her for intro to psych.
She explains everything really well, but she puts some tricky questions on the test. Gotta study with the textbook.
Tests are very hard, tricky wording and questions from lectures that aren't on the powerpoint. Takes attendance sporadically so it's best not to skip. Lecture is fairly interesting. Pay close attention and take good notes, study the notes in addition to powerpoints she posts online. There are probably easier intro psych profs, but not bad overall.
Very difficult class. can study for hours and still not do well in the class. I took her for intro to psych due to the reviews on here but she was impossible. so many trick questions on the exams. and only 4 or so exams with a final that make up your entire grade.
She is a very dry and boring teacher and it's hard to pay attention in her class. Not necessary to go to class. Her tests are incredibly challenging and it requires A LOT of studying to even do "okay" on her test. Also the grade for the class is 5 tests (one dropped) so there is no way to improve your grade.
She's great. Her lectures are interesting, and if you pay attention in class, you don't have to read the book. I'd definitely recommend her class. She drops the lowest exam grade, so if you get good grades on four exams, you don't have to take the final.
Professor Rollins is a good professor. She has funny jokes and keeps things interesting during her lectures. A word of warning, however: if you're looking for a class with an easy "A," look elsewhere. Her exams are solely multiple choice and are filled with tough questions. I straddled a B+ and A- all semester after studying a lot for tests.
The challenge of this class is not learning and comprehending the material, it is learning and comprehending Dr. Rollins style of assessment. You could know the content front and backwards and still receive a C.
Professor Rollins is dry, funny, helpful and very straight forward. Go to every class, write down everything she says, do the study guides. All of her test questions are usually applied scenarios of the concepts and not simply regurgitating vocab but she explains everything very well (with examples and videos) and will answer any questions.
Tests are extremely hard even if you know the material. I've never felt so discouraged.
her class is BEYOND frustrating because it does NOT MATTER not how smart you are or even how well you know the material, it is solely based on whether you happen to be good at her strange testing method or it clicks with you or not. She takes attendance for no apparent reason, but should think about using it with the way she makes her tests
Do not take Rollins. Her tests are near impossible to do well with. You can be an expert on the material and still not understand her testing style. You will do well in this class if you can apply the concept and think exactly like Rollins. If not, there are professors that are a hell of a lot easier.
STUDY STUDY STUDY for these tests. her class itself is super enjoyable, but you're going to have to know the material backwards and forwards to scrape an A
Rollins' class is interesting, well-taught, and very difficult. I received an A in her class with very hard work. #1 suggestion is to fill out the study guides and memorize them back and forward. Attendance isn't mandatory, however, attending class and taking notes helps. If you want an A, I suggest another teacher...but it's not impossible.
She does not treat the class like an introductory psych class, the multiple choice questions are ridiculously long-winded and they TRY to confuse you, they do not simply test your knowledge of the subject material, which is too bad. All of your grade depends upon multiple choice tests with peculiar names and I wish she would just focus on material.
Awesome lady while in class, but for an intro psych class her tests are very difficult. Once you get the hang of it, the class is manageable
One word: great. She makes every concept incredibly clear and gives funny and interesting examples. It can be a bit boring sometimes, but if you write down everything she says and memorize it, the tests are a breeze. If you want a good grade, you MUST attend class as her tests are all based on her lectures (you really don't need to read much).
You learn a lot in her lectures but she still manages to keep them entertaining and easy to understand. Her tests are tough but if you study and go to class you'll do fine. I would most definitely recommend taking any of her classes!
Rollins was a good laugh, but I'll agree with the comments here. The tests are extraordinarily difficult, made up of long twisted questions that are seemingly meant to confuse. Take good notes and memorize the study guides and you'll probably escape with a B or above.
the teacher is so sweet and cute. but the class is boring. the teacher reads off the power points, which she posts online. attendance is mandatory, but you could easily get a friends to sign in for you, or sign in then leave. the test are really tough, but your lowest one gets drop.
REALLY HARD TESTS. They are really abstract and nothing really like what we talk about in class. It feels like she's trying to trick you on every question.
While you technically can skip class, DON'T. The tests are very challenging and what is covered in class is emphasized. Only 4 out of 5 count however. Rollins is a perfectly fine lecturer, she won't make you fall in love with Psych but she won't make you hate it either.
Her tests are impossible. You can study for months and still not do well. Her multiple choice questions are confusing and tricky. You can know 100% of the material and still do poorly. Do not take her.
She is an amazing teacher! Very friendly!
Professor Rollins is very knowledge on her subject and makes class interesting. She takes attendance but it isn't part of your grade, however class is interesting. She shows videos often and adds fun pictures and demonstrations into the lectures. Definitely worth taking, though you do have to study a decent amount for tests.
Judging by other comments people found her tests hard. When I took her she put up study guides and chapter outlines and as long as you knew the material on what she put on blackboard for these practice questions the tests were not bad. That being said I did not miss a class.
This class is not hard, you just have to actually show up and do the work, which can be a challenge because her lectures tend to be a bit boring. She takes attendance sometimes, so going to class is probably a good idea. Reading helps supplement her lectures. Tests can be very specific and pretty hard, especially when studying the brain.
She's very straightforward. If you learn everything on the study guides for her test, you should be good to go! Take notes in her class! Her first test is the hardest!
She gives interesting lectures and tells you everything you need to know for the tests. Only four tests and the final, of which you can drop the lowest grade (including the final). Show up to see what she tells you is important, read what she tells you to in the book (it's on the study guide), and don't be afraid to ask questions. Great class!
She is very good at reading off PowerPoints word for word. That's about it.
Attendance is not mandatory and her lectures are incredibly boring!! The textbook is long. She does give study guides about what is on tests but lots of information that leads to a lot of memorizing before tests.
Provides lecture outlines (highly suggest using them to take notes during class) and corresponding study guides for test. If you actually go to class and listen it's pretty easy to memorize and if you know what's on the study guide and put in the effort, the tests aren't hard at all. She does everything she can to make lectures interesting
Dr. Rollins has really interesting lectures that she pairs with pictures, videos and stories to help remember topics. If you attend class and take notes in her lectures while following along in the outline she provides, you never need to open the text book. She is always helpful in her office hours to talk over previous tests.
She has extremely long lectures, 4 midterm exams, and 1 final. Her lectures are important to go to even though she doesn't take attendance because she will put the examples on her exams. Her exams are very tricky though and she makes you think. If there is an easier teacher to take, definitely take him/her, but otherwise, Rollins was okay!
If you go to class, you literally never need to open the textbook. The class is pretty bland (just like all intro to psych classes) but you start to pick up on how funny Rollins is in kind of a nerdy way after a few weeks. I just made notes based on her study guides and studied for two nights before the test and got a-'s on all of them. good class!
Amazing lecturer, showed videos and told funny, relatable personal anecdotes to make you understand the concepts. Go to office hours to look at old tests and she accommodates those who can't make it. Clearly knows her stuff and loves psych. Started out with a C- and made a A- in the end but SHE MAKES U WORK FOR IT!! One of the best profs at Tulane
Some people find her lectures dry but I thought they were overall pretty interesting. The class is 4 tests and a final that you can choose not to take if you're happy with your 4 test grades. If you study a good amount for the tests you should be more than fine.
HARD TESTS! Lectures are very boring and Rollins talks in a monotone voice the whole time. Her tests are very confusing and difficult. Even though other teachers give HW, take an easier teacher.
Professor Rollins was the best. I looked forward to this class every day and was so sad when it ended. she is so cute in a weird way and SO smart. Though your grade is only composed of 4 tests, if you really utilize her study guides you will succeed, and feel accomplished. Such an interesting, great class. (And a little extra credit).
Professor Rollins is a good lecturer, but her tests are nearly impossible. I attended every single class, took decent notes, read the textbook, and used her online notes before each test, but continuously did badly. Questions are poorly worded and no matter how hard you study, you most likely won't get higher than a B. Do not take this class!!!!
Goes over everything very well in class. Tests not too hard if you have the notes, but often there are some trick questions.
Professor Rollins is awesome!! Her in-class examples are really awesome and they make you remember the topics. I think her E options are funny. Attendance is absolutely mandatory to do well on tests, but they are not at all impossible and I didn't take Ap Psych in High School. Passionate, Super Smart, Encourages Participation and Contact with her!
DO NOT TAKE ROLLINS. She gets amazing reviews but it is impossible to do well. She talks down at you when you go to see her. I hired a tutor and I still didn't improve on my test grades even thought my tutor can vouch that I knew the information. Her tests are impossible and the classroom is hot and dim and she is monotoned so your half awake.
Do not take Bethany Rollins. The lectures are very boring, and so is she. She is the WOAT. The only thing that goes into your grade are the tests, which are close to impossible to get above a B- on. Even if you know the information, her bizarre tests are extremely difficult. I studied for the final for 3 entire days & still managed to get a C.
Professor Rollins is a complete nut but she is an amazing professor. She is a brilliant woman and her lectures are unique in that she gives detailed examples for almost every term she describes, so it is easy to understand the more difficult terms. The class is based on 4 tests, so just ace those by memorizing every term she says and you'll do well
Everyone who puts in the effort gets rewarded. If you really want it, you will get an A. The beginning of the course is boring and lots of people stopped attending regularly as a result. Big mistake. Not only do the lectures become super interesting, they are jam packed full of info that appears directly on the tests. Her videos+memes are on point.
Graded entirely on four tests but minimal studying is all that is necessary.
She can be a little slow and lackluster, but if you pay attention during her classes and take notes on everything she says you'll never need to open the textbook. She offers personal anecdotes and is really adorable. She also provides in depth study guides that if you follow you will definitely pass the test. Loved her.
Professor Rollins gives very clear lectures and always provides numerous examples to make the content more clear. She is actually really funny and quirky. Her tests are difficult but easy to do well on as long as you take detailed notes and study for the tests using her study guides.
test questions can be tricky, but it's not hard to get atleast a B. She provides a detailed study guide for every test.
She's not the most exciting teacher, but you will definitely learn and do well as long as you show up to class. She also gives you study guides with everything you need to know on the test (which is the only thing your grade it based off of).
Professor Rollins is one of the nicest teachers I have ever had. She seems to be a little bit introverted, but tries her best to have interesting lectures, and succeeds. She is more than willing to answer questions and seems to truly care about the success of her students. You must work to earn a good grade in her class, but you will learn so much.
I dropped this class because I found her to be deadly boring and the material to be uninteresting. She knows a little about a lot... Also, class discussions and comments really went on odd tangents. This one girl in the class seemed to have experienced ever single psychological trauma known to man.... hope she's okay:/
You're graded on 4 exams. Her extra credit is more like "insurance" as she calls it. If you are 1% away from a higher grade and you do all the extra credit she will bump up your grade. Her class is very simple as long as you either do the readings or pay attention in class. Her tests have a lot of common sense questions are are not very difficult.
Prof Rollins is a really good lecturer. she speaks in an anecdotal tone and will even admit when were approaching a boring topic. psychology is a wide field, so some students question rollins' intelligence when she gives broad answers, but they forget shes teaching an intro class. she has to know a little about everything which is hard to do
Rollins is very sweet and a good teacher. Go to class and study textbook and posted slides from class. Tests are multiple choice but do require significant studying to do well. Also she gives optional grade insurance assignments throughout semester so if your final grade is within 1% of a higher letter grade she'll bump you up (DO THESE).
Professor Rollins is very kind and understanding, but has a rigid grading policy. Your grade is based on 4 tests (drop the lowest one which can be the final), and a few tiny assignments called grade insurances. That said, the tests are not at all difficult. Mainly just process of elimination and memorization.
DO NOT TAKE ROLLINS. The class is is supposed to be an "INTRO" to Psychology, but her tests are extremely difficult and very specific. I studied so much for each exam and still got C's. She also gets angry when you ask questions during the class. She yelled at kids and kicked them out for just whispering. Boring lectures and no respect for students
She's a great professor, and she makes the class very interesting. Her tests are harder than you would expect, and they make up your grade entirely. Attendance isn't mandatory but her tests are based almost completely on her lectures. If you take good notes, study her study guides religiously, and read the book, you can do well on the tests.
She makes psychology really interesting and does a great job with her lectures. Uses lots funny/interesting videos, stories, and pictures to help explain things. Tests are reasonable and easy if you study.
To do well in this class, you really just need to finish her study guides that she gives you and memorize it.
Grrade depends on 4 tests: 25% each. Gives 4 tests and the final, and drops lowest score. So, if you do well on the first 4 tests, you don't have to take the final. Don't need to do the textbook readings if you attend every class. She barely puts anything on the slides; she verbally says all the info. If u miss a something, too bad.
Prof. Rollins is a really good option for intro to psych. Her lectures can be dry at times but overall you are learning interesting topics and she mixes it up with videos. Only graded on the tests but you get one drop. Takes attendance at random. Would highly recommend for Psych1010
Professor Rollins is a mediocre teacher at best. Her classes are all lecture style and she is very boring to listen to, but with that said just go and take notes word for word. Tests are harder than you think if you haven't taken psych before. She allows you to drop your lowest exam grade but she is NOT understanding at all about being sick...
The class is all lecture and you need to write down exactly what she says in order to have the right information to study for the tests. The tests are the only grades in the entire class. The tests are all multiple choice but difficult, especially if you didn't take psych in high school. She occasionally takes attendance, but it doesn't count.
Prof. Rollins is overall a good teacher. There are 4 tests and a final but your lowest grade is dropped, including the final. The lectures can get boring but she shows a lot of interesting videos. You don't need the textbook and she gives out study guides for the tests. If you can answer all the questions on the study guide, you'll easily pass.
Loved her class. If you pay attention and study you'll do well. 4 tests and a final, one is dropped. Very interesting lectures + uses videos that really help you retain the info. she posts all the study guides/ power points so you will know whats on the test. Just wish she taught another course other than intro bc I want to take her again!!
Best lecture I've had yet. Although she posts slides online, you'll still need to take notes on what she says during lecture for all the information. Study guides perfectly reflect whats on the exams (from what I've found on quizlet, she doesn't change them very often) and you get to drop your lowest grade. Absolute cutie.
I loved Prof Rollins. She always did her best to make her lectures interesting, with lots of fun example stories and videos. You get a thorough study guide for each test, and as long as you know the info on it, you'll do well. You also get 1 drop test (out of 5), which can be the final!
She's really boring and hard to listen to. You need to take notes on everything she says as well as the slides because the slides don't cover everything. The grade is entirely based on the highest of five tests and the only extra credit is "grade insurance" and she will sometime give points to those who participate in class. Would not recommend.
Extremely boring and condescending. Definitely not an impossible class, but makes even the most interesting topics intolerable. Also, test questions are worded very strangely and more difficult than necessary.
Bethany Rollins would not be my first choice for future psych classes. Her lectures are extremely monotone and disjointed. All her case studies are about her husband and are pretty unhelpful in terms of connecting the topics learned in class to the real world. It is possible to do well, but she made the class was much harder than it needed to be.
She's boring, but knowledgeable. Her lectures are so general and unhelpful, so going to class isn't helpful. The worst part about her is her tests. The are written terribly, sometimes have multiple possible right answers, and don't accurately measure someone's understanding of the material. Just use quizlet to study and you won't fail
I enjoyed taking Professor Rollins' class. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she notices who goes and participates. Lectures were easy to follow, and tests were based solely on lecture materials. She was always helpful during office hours. Extra credit is available through class participation as well as the grade insurance assignments.
Every class is a lecture, lectures say basically exactly what is in the textbook so if you miss a class just read the textbook and no need to worry. She never takes attendance except for her personal data, but on some days towards the end of the semester she will give extra credit for participation or attendance. Solid prof
I loved Professor Rollins! There are definitely easier psych 1000 professors but you will learn so much. No need to read the textbook as long as you go to class because she goes over everything in lecture. Start studying for the exams early but if you take this class you will learn so much about psych and how to study in college in general!
Her lectures are interesting, but definitely go to class if you don't want to buy the textbook because class notes alone are enough to study with. Offers "extra credit" with each exam, but is only applied to the final grade if you do each one and your letter grade is close enough to be bumped up to the next. Would take again!
Prof. Rollins was a really good psych1000 teacher. She gives you study guides before each test and if you know all the material on that you will do well. During lectures, she always slows down and repeats things she wants you to know. Always shows funny relevant videos that makes the class extremely enjoyable. Great choice of teacher!
The material in the class isn't difficult; however, she is a harder psych professor than the others. Be prepared for tricky test questions. You have to study to do well in this class, but the material is doable. She also drops a test, but your grade is entirely determined by them, since there are no additional assignments (quizzes, homework, etc)
Rollins lectures are pretty dry and she pulls test material from what she says in class, not necessarily what is on slides. lowest test is dropped (even if its the final)
Rollins is fine but there are other better options. She is very knowledgeable but her tests are REALLY hard to study for without class notes. Make sure you note the experiments/examples she shows you in class, because there are test questions about it. All tests are multiple choice, which is fine for me but some others don't like it.
I hate professor Rollins. Her class is unbelievably hard and she is a monotoned hard grader.
Professor Rollins is an incredible professor. So long as you participate and pay attention to your class you'll be fine. She has really interesting lectures and is and great person. Her study guides clearly says what is on the test so it's really easy to prepare for everything and she warns you ahead of time on what to watch out for.
I did not think her class was difficult, she gives extra credit for participating in class. But when it comes to grading, she is not very lenient. Tests are difficult and require lots of studying
Professor Rollins' Intro Psych class was overall solid but pretty boring. I didn't do the reading, but I attended all normal and supplemental lectures as well as SI sessions before quizzes and tests. She has us answer questions on Canvas during class. Tests were online with lockdown browser- also she didn't let you look back at old quiz questions.
shes the best, makes class interesting and tests are easy if you study well.
Very interesting class and professor. Study guides she provides are very clear, and she provides almost all the information in class (a very small amount requires looking in the textbook, but other than specified, it's not necessary. She gives out note outlines that you can fill out during lectures, which makes studying really easy.
Wonderful teacher. The lectures are interesting and engaging, and she is super receptive if you reach out to her with any questions outside of (or during) class periods. You can tell she wants her students to do well. That said, it is not the easiest A. At least not for me. Studying is probably required if you want to do well.
She's kinda meh, not sure if there's other intro psych teachers that are better, but here class was kinda annoying on zoom, and weird.
Her class was on zoom, and because of this, I struggled to pay attention the entire semester, which was very annoying. Reading the book really isn't necessary to get an A just listen to the lectures, take good notes, and fill out the study guides. Tests and quizzes are all multiple choice and fairly easy. She drops the lowest test grade.
Seems like she would be a good teacher if in person, but I had her online and it was terrible. She is so paranoid about cheating, that she doesn't let you look back at old quizzes or tests, but will read out the question and correct answer to you. Just really hard to learn that way. Also just a boring class.
Tests based on lectures/ examples that you cant find in the textbook. Read textbook if you need a deeper understanding but many people do fine w/o. I recommend another teacher if you can (I have heard they offer more extra credit/easier tests), but she is not the worst- you will just need to work harder. She rarely gives extra credit.
DO NOT take her online course. Your grade is quizzes and tests. In the online course, she makes you use a lockdown browser which uses your microphone and camera to watch you. It tracks your eyes and you cant look at the wall to think or it flags your test and you get sent to the honor board. It makes tests stressful its not the material thats hard
Professor Rollins was not a great professor in my opinion. There are only 4 tests and little quizes so If you mess up one test it has a huge weight on your grade. I do not think she taught well, and being online made it a lot more difficult.
Professor Rollins talks either really fast or very slow, she gives boring lectures and gets distracted easily. Her tests are difficult and the final is almost impossible so prepare to cancel that test since you can cancel your lowest grade out of 5 tests. Online test and quizzes. Doesn't give you your tests back so you never know what you got wrong
It is SO bad, I wanna give you a 0, but that's not possible so I give you a 1.
DO NOT TAKE HER!!! I tried harder in this class than I ever have in any other at Tulane (and I am a hard worker in my other classes) and it tanked my GPA.
Rollins is an okay prof -- Lectures are straightforward & content isn't hard (tests-80% & quizzes-20%), but she's anal about stuff & has little to no empathy, which makes her class frustrating. In my opinion, she doesn't care enough about her students and Tbh my TA (Gabriella Maze) would've made a better prof.
Never hated a professor more. Accused me of cheating, I had to have an entire hearing about it, but I never cheated and she was super passive aggressive with me during the whole thing. Don't take her, she's actually the devil on earth. Take any other psych prof.
Honestly... your grade just relies on your tests so if you do bad you're screwed. She is not very considerate or understanding. The tests are multiple-choice so if a are couple wrong and you get a bad grade. Tbh I don't recommend her but you can rely on the TA to learn which is what most people did.
Do not take her. The lectures are so boring but she gives out extra credit (very very rarely) if you do attend. The only grades in this class are from exams and while the material is easy enough, the exams are weirdly difficult and specific. Just take the class with a different professor.
Her lectures, while informative, are like listening to white noise for 50 minutes a day. Despite the material being rather easy to learn and digest, it seems like Professor Rollins tries her hardest to make you sweat for every question on her tests. Her study guides, while helpful, often only confuse you more unless you've read the entire textbook.
The class was just slow. She's boring and the material was very definition heavy. It wasn't challenging but if you don't do well on one test you do have to take the final. Wouldn't take her again.
Bethany Rollins for sure got bullied growing up
Very mid class. Graded by just quizzes and tests. She's not a great speaker, not very interesting. Get the textbook and just read that, because she'll rarely talk about anything you couldn't just learn from the book. Once in a GREAT while will give extra credit in class towards the end of the semester.
The worst teacher and person I've ever met. I would rather cut off my left big toe than take her class again. Only grades off tests, horrible lectures, bad at communication, and she refuses to help you if your confused with anything. She never answers emails or communicates in general. She also gives no extra credit and will be rude if u even ask.
Rollins is simply the worst. All of her reviews from like 2 years ago say she was kind so I don't know what happened that caused a complete 180 to her personality. I don't understand why she's a teacher because it truly seems like she hates her students, and as a student, I have never met a teacher who was as rude and unpleasant. DO NOT TAKE!!
Prof. Rollins is interesting. I took her course online in Fall 2021. She goes through the lectures pretty fast, so it is important that you pay attention, especially if you don't get the textbook. Make sure you use her study guides before her exams because they help a lot (even though they are a lot of work). Exams were on lockdown browser.
By far one of the most difficult profs I have had in college for no reason. I needed an easy intro psych yet, I did worse in this class than any other class including harder ones. She's a tough grader + her tests are very hard. Her lectures are boring + u have to pay attention and study to do well bc she takes a lot of specifics from them 4 tests.
She is a very fair professor, your lowest test gets dropped and she let everyone retake the first test because there were some unforeseen tech issues. People are too harsh on her here. The tests are only difficult because of the volume of content, not necessarily the difficulty. Very possible to do well if you study.
Fair professor. More tests than usual but the lowest grade is dropped which is nice, and since there's more tests its less content overall per test. Very clear over what is going to be tested on. You'll succeed in the class if you do the study guide, people give her lower ratings just because the content itself can be a lot but it's manageable.
Lectures are interesting. I recommend going to class as she post PowerPoints but gives definitions and examples in class. Tests are all multiple choice and are very straight forward.
Professor Rollins is fair and caring. Her lectures are interesting and very easy to follow. Her tests are fairly straightforward, studying is required in order to do well. Because the first test had so many tech issues, she let everyone retake it which was extremely kind. Overall, I believe that people are too harsh for her reviews.
Rollins's lectures are very slow and can be boring at times but it is an interesting class. She takes attendance at lectures and will eventually use it for extra credit at the end of the semester. There are take-home quizzes every week (no LockDown), 4 tests and a final. She drops your lowest exam.
Rollins is lecture heavy, but easy to follow and the tests require studying and reading the textbook. I would recommend this class as she is approachable and funny at times. The grade is only made up of tests and quizzes, but if you read the textbook and pay attention to lectures you will be able to do well.
If you want a class that is 80% tests and 20% quizzes with only lecture style, monotone classes then this is the class for you! Rollins is very kind when you speak one on one, but incredibly hard to figure out what is important to write down out of the random facts she is spuing out without time for you to actually write them down.
Honestly one of the best professors I've ever had. Her lectures are interesting and easy to follow and you get multiple attempts on the quizzes. She gives a clear study guide for all her tests which is extremely helpful and is very willing to answer any questions.
If you memorize lecture notes you are guaranteed a good grade in her class. Not an easy A but you won't fail. Interesting lectures and several resources to help you succeed.
Professor Rollins is very informative and values her students. Exams are straightforward and based on readings and lectures. She welcomes participation and often offers extra credit for it! You can drop one exam in this class which means you don't have to take the final if the first 4 exams go well. Would recommend this class and professor.
So lecture-heavy. If you are not the type to learn that way, do not take this class. Her tests are hit or miss. You either know the stuff or not. And 80% of the grade. The quizzes are easy, which is a plus. And if you participate sometimes she gives extra credit. Would not take it, yet I am not STEM so I didn't love it. She drops the lowest test.
Good prof if you're a psych major or really interested in the class, but definitely not the easiest if you're just looking to get a good grade. 80% tests and 20% quizzes for the grade. If you go to class, tests aren't too bad. Gives some extra credit opportunity for participating. Clearly knows her stuff, but not the most personable professor.
Professor Rollins is a great professor! Her attendance is not mandatory, but she gives out clear lectures and asks questions in the tests about things in her lectures. All her tests are multiple choices, and you can drop your lowest one, including your final. She is patient and caring outside of class. Feel free to go to her office hours!
If you are truly passionate about learning psych, take Rollins. If you want an A and a few little factoids to take with you on the road, move elsewhere. I learned a ton and sweated for this class more than any other in my life. Tests are tough to study for, and you need to be 100% on the ball in every lecture. Tough but fair. Toughest B+ in my life
So boring its unbelievable
She is extremely frustrating. I've taken a good amount of psych courses and I still struggle with this class. I find it hard to pay attention/ her lectures are the same every time. She can't stay on topic and makes us listen to her lectures outside of class if she doesn't finish. Her test are unnecessarily difficult and getting an A is impossible.
She covers a ton of content before tests and speaks at about 3 words per minute so then you have to watch the class lectures on your own time since we are always behind. This class is less about learning and more about memorizing every single niche of each chapter for a 50-question multiple-choice test. do not take. waste of time.
Intro to Psych with Professor Rollins was not difficult at all. She grades you on chapter quizzes and tests only; there aren't homework assignments. Her lectures aren't riveting, but they're not completely boring. Most of the stuff in lectures is what will be on the test, so take good notes and attend every class, also skim the textbook.
She's a great professor and a good person but its extremely test heavy. The whole class is just memorizing fun facts that are being categorized as psychology. Does not really feel like the class has any direction. Bounce around between units weekly.
Not a very difficult class, but her teaching style is not for some people. The class is entirely lecture-based, and, being an Intro level Psychology course, a lot of different types of material is covered in a short amount of time. Grade is solely from quizzes and tests. Tests are not hard, but there are a few questions from the book, not lectures.
Very lecture-based classes. Tests are reasonable and she provides study guides. Outside of tests and quizzes, not that many assignments.
Professor Rollins is the best, her lectures are great even though they aren't mandatory, but she gives clear study guides for what to know, spends extra time on topics that are covered on tests, and never tests on material that we aren't told to study in the study guides. She also sometimes offers extra credit for attendance
i hate her she is the worst i have not learned a thing
Gave me extra credit for taking test while sick
Kind, soft-spoken, helpful; Very accessible office hours; GO TO CLASS SHE GIVES RANDOM EXTRA CREDIT; tests are 50 questions - 10 are tricky; SIs give similar questions; speaks slowly and repeats info; get notes from a friend from previous semesters, notes are verbatim what she said in prior semester; quizzes + tests are fairly easy; 10/10 TAKE HER
Lots of lectures - weekly quizzes that are fairly easy but the tests are hard. The tests are based off of her lectures and are considerably hard. Very unfair when it comes to makeup. Otherwise a very interesting class.
If you attend the lectures and study the PowerPoints you will ace the tests. Few grades but also no homework. Not super strict about attendance. Lectures are interesting.
rollins is sweet when you get to know her and she can be super caring. as for grades- 4 exams and a final as well as chapter quizzes MAKE SURE TO DO THOSE as they can literally make or break your grade. also just know she tends to get behind schedule and you'll have to take notes on lectures she posts on canvas. lectures are boring but silly videos
Professor Rollins is literally one of my favorite professors. very test heavy but you will do fine if you pay attention in class and study the slides. She has a quirky personality and her jokes are very funny. She will repeat things when needed.Very sweet when you get to know her and genuinely want her students to succeed. Her outfits also go hard.
Good lectures! Quirky personality. Passionate ab what she teaches & wants students to succeed. Gives outlines for each chapter for your notes. Gives study guides for exams, do them & you'll get an A. Extra credit sometimes, so go to class. Most who dislike her don't go to class & don't know ab the resources she provides lol. My queen, A+ outfits
Must attend class, and is a little challenging but overall she is a great professor. She really wants you to succeed. If you go class and take notes and fill out the study gudie before tests you will be fine!
Professor Rollins is terrible, lectures are lowkey interesting and she is a really nice lady but the tests are incredibly hard and most of the questions were not covered in class (either topics we skipped over or very obscure info found on the textook).
Professor Rollins is one of my favorite professors. Lectures are mostly interesting, and she is passionate about psychology. She is always happy to answer questions. Grade is only composed of tests and quizzes, but sometimes she gives extra credit. The secret to success is to fill out the study guides she posts. Her outfit selection is impeccable.
As long as you go to class, take notes, and do the study guides she provides, you will do great. Tests are exactly what's on the study guides, and she makes it clear when what she's saying in class is important. She also gave out a couple of random extra credit points for going to class, but she definitely does have a unique sense of humor!
Bethany Rollins is a queen who cares a lot but test subjects are very niche and you need to remember how disordfersor theories present in real life more than just definitions.
professor rollins can come off as cold, but she is super sweet once you get to know her! the class is honestly not hard, there is just a lot of material to parse through; if you put in the time to study everything, especially the material in the textbook and videos she posts, it is not hard to get an A. often does extra credit on days before break.
I really enjoyed Professor Rollins' class!! If you put in the work, you will do well. She won't try and trip you with test questions, it's all really straight forward. PARTICIPATE IN CLASS! Sometimes she has random extra credit if you answered/asked a question in class, but she will also remember you if you do and that comes in clutch at the end.
I liked Rollins' class, the exams were quite difficult for me, though. Despite feeling confident on the material it was evident that my grade in the class did not reflect my knowledge. Classes are engaging and SI sessions are a game-changer.
Class is way harder than it should be for an intro level class. Your grade is comprised of only tests and quizzes, so you have no padding on your grade. How you test is the grade you get in the class. Tests are 50 multiple choice questions so you cannot miss that many before your grade slips. I would recommend taking Fabian if you have the option.
I'm not done with this course, but from what I have experienced so far, I am incredibly stressed. I don't know if it is Rollins curriculum or the psych department itself, but this SHOULD NOT be an intro course. If you are not well-versed in anatomy or EXTREMELY good at memorization, I wouldn't recommend this course. Please wish me luck. I need it.
Dr.Rollins' lectures are very interesting. Each test (4 tests + final, you can drop a test including the final) are 50 MCQs. There are also homework quizzes worth 20% of your grade and tests are 80% (20% each). Very good professor, show up to class, participate (she randomly gives extra credit), and she makes an effort to remember regular students
Do not take her at any cost.
Don't recommend.
Do not take!!
Don't ever take "Dr" Bethany Rollins. Take Fabian or any of the other professors, much nicer people and easier class.
The worst professor in psych
Professor Rollins has some pretty great lectures, but 80% of your grade is determined by how you do on the tests, which is very stressful. The tests aren't horrible if you study, and she gives extra credit to those who participate in class.
Attended all her lectures, concentrated in class, wrote notes studied but the work but didn't pay off. Doesn't seem she wants her students to do well.
She doesnt care about you. She was condescending and failed almost half the class.
Bethany's lectures are interesting, but the class is quite challenging with tests accounting for 80% of the grade. Attending class and participating is key. Fortunately, Unstuckstudy AI and other study aids can help prepare for the rigorous exams.
She's very understanding and accepted me into her class after the add class date passed. She was always available if I needed help catching up. Her lectures can be boring, but if you spend the time writing notes it passes by.
The tests are only hard if you do not attend class. Class is a must, she covers all of the content in the lectures and on the study guides she posts.
If you're good at memorization and literally go to class (it's only 50 minutes) anyone can do well. Rollins gives you an outline for each chapter so you can take notes super easily and gives you practice questions. It's definitely not my easiest class but not my hardest. I would take this class again--also shes dry asf but kinda funny
I really enjoyed this professor. I relied heavily on her study guides for exams! The questions on the guide are on the exam. Use the guide to find the definitions and an example or two in the textbook. Lectures can get boring, but the case studies are always interesting (Pavlov's dogs). The textbook is not a hard read, and very straight-forward.
People hate on Rollins but her lectures are good and she makes sure you know when something is important. I was scared for this class, but it is simple as long as you study, use the study guides she posts on canvas. She lets you drop lowest test and quiz grade. Very test heavy, stay away if bad test taker.
As someone who did not go much to class she still was super informative and helpful when it came to test material. You get to drop a final and the homework is really easy! I would recommend as she provides clear and concise study guides and outlines that make the syllabus extremely clear
Incredibly boring attitude and poor presentation of material. Questions on tests are worded weirdly sometimes. No curve for tests, but lowest grade is dropped.
Rollins speaks slowly and clearly on stuff she wants you to know, but she mostly reads from slides and is quite boring. There are 5 50 multiple choice tests including the final, and you get to drop your lowest. Study a couple days ahead and use her outlines to study and you should be fine.
Professor Rollins is sweet and will randomly give out extra credit for participation in class. My only complaint is that most tests have niche, weirdly worded questions that are extremely specific. Attendance isn't a must though as her Study Guides are very comprehensive and answer most of test. I assumed Psych would be easier though.
If ur a bad test taker or cannot memorize a large amount of info do not take psych 1000. If you're good at both of those things, this should be an easy class. 5 tests including final, one can be dropped + mini quizzes. I don't like how your grades are dependent on basically 5 exams, and it's difficult to raise if you want a higher grade.
Doesn't seem too into any of what she's teaching. Gives you the information and that's it. Tests are very easy as long as you study
Considering how easy it is to make this class interesting and engaging for students, she is an ok. Better teachers to take within this department (Fabian). You can still do well it might just be harder because she is very test heavy. You can miss every class and still get an A. Go to class if you struggle with memorizing info.
Prof. Rollins is extremely by-the-book. She slowly recites to you all of the material you need to know for the test, and not much else. The class was pretty easy, but she doesn't seem to like teaching it.
Many say her lectures are boring but I actually found them pretty interesting. Her class is EXTREMELY TEST HEAVY, but she offers really helpful study guides and if you do them you will do good on the tests. You get 1 dropped test grade which is really helpful since many fully bombed the first test not knowing what to expect. Overall would recommend
Dr. Rollins is super sweet! Her class is easy, as she does provide study guides for every chapter which I found useful. Do not miss class unless you have someone that can give you notes for the lecture! The slides are made for one to attend class and take notes. She will speak slowly or emphasize things that will be on the test.
She just reads the test material in the lectures. 80% of the grade is made up of 5 tests but you can drop the lowest test grade. Try to do well on the first test so you can skip the final. Attendance isn't mandatory but it's worth it to go and participate in class because she will give extra credit to participators on random days.
She gives you the information you need, which is straightforward, but her lectures can be boring sometimes. Attendance isn't mandatory, and you can do well without attending the classes (would still recommend tho). Test heavy (80% grades), but tests are easy if you just stick to her study guides. Study guide is enough (no need to read the book).
I was nervous to take her class considering her ratings on here. Though, if you work hard, do the study guides and attend lecture, you will do just fine. Her lectures are always engaging, though, it can be hard to listen sometimes during the boring topics. She is very accessible and was super helpful in office hours. DO the study guides!!
If you are good at memorizing, then Rollins' class will be easy for you. Take good notes and follow her study guides well, its possible to ace her tests. She also randomly gave out extra points if you participated in class on some days. I started studying early for tests and you will know exactly what she will put on it from the study guides.
Take very good notes and memorize it for the tests. I barely studied and got Bs so reading notes will def give u the A. Its really not that bad or difficult if you take notes and actually study them. Read the study guides bc they say what info from the txbk is on the tests. Gives bonus points sometimes to people who answer/ ask questions in class
Lectures can be pretty boring with amazing content. The tests were much harder than expected, so be sure to study super hard and attend her office hours. The at-home quizzes are timed really short so they can be difficult if you don't know the content.
Honestly loved her. Warms up as the semester goes on and has the best sarcastic humor. Lectures are straightforward and easy to follow along with. Your grade is solely based on quizzes and tests but you can drop your lowest test grade. As long as you go to class, read the textbook, and study you will do fine. Would definitely recommend this class.
Professor Rollins was awesome. Her class was all lectures, but it was very interesting. She talked slowly enough so you could write down all the notes, and she posted study guides before each test. GO INTO HER OFFICE HOURS!!! She answers every single question in depth and is so helpful. The first test is the hardest, and then it gets easier.
Everyone hates Rollins but honestly she's fine. She just reads off her slides and exams are pretty much what is on the slides. All exams are MCQ. Just look up quizlets for each test and you'll be fine. You also get to drop one exam which is usually the first (hardest) exam.
By no chance take this professor if you have the chance to take others. If you have to wait a semester to take the other professor do so. She is not willing to help you out and her lectures are extremely boring. She gives no study guides. She has 4 tests of 50 questions each which i can assure you will not beable to get over 90%. DO NOT TAKE.
Everyone hates on her but she's not bad. She tells really interesting stories while teaching I thought. She really likes engagement in class so ask questions! If you study for the tests you'll do well (4 tests + final and you can drop any of the 5). Only thing is that she's kind of blunt and can come across as mean but I don't think she really is.
My roommate took her, he transferred.
Professor Rollins seems to know the material well but tends to read straight off the slides. The exams are much harder than the study material.
She is not the best teacher. Averages on the 5 tests were all around a C+ for the entire class and the entire class is graded by 4 tests and the quizzes. Also she had no study guides for the tests, only chapter study guides which were 1-2 pages of single spaced things. The tests were based on around 4 chapters each.
Dry lectures & talks SO slow (+ repeats everything) but makes content very straightforward/easy to understand. Tests are basically exactly what's said in class and she lets you drop one of four tests or the final. Gives extra credit for attendance/participation and going to class 100% helps on tests anyway. Hilarious if you're into dry humor.
Seems like she hates her life and job. Zero enthusiasm when it comes to anything, the definition of it's in the syllabus (mandatory 50 question quiz), will not respond to email for days at a time. Never heard a teacher seem to not care about what she is talking about but her.
As long as you attend all the lectures and take good notes you will do well.
This class is easy to get an A in if you know how to approach it. You DO NOT need to read the textbook, so don't buy it unless you're getting the undergrad book bundle. The key is taking notes using the chapter outlines in Canvas Modules. They don't give lecture notes, but show exactly what's covered, making lectures easy to follow.
Rollins is a solid professor with great dry humor if you pay attention in class, but can be boring at times. Your grade is based entirely on 4 midterms, a final, and take home quizzes. You can drop your lowest test score and the tests get easier as the semester goes on. She sometimes gives extra credit for participation.
Prof. Rollins is a very sweet and knowledgeable person. Great introductory class to psychology. She sometimes gives extra credit for asking a question in lecture. All of my tests were multiple choice so that was nice. Be sure to sit close to the front because she is kind of quiet.
Rollins is a terrible teacher. Driest and most unfulfilling class I've ever taken. The stuff she doesn't cover in class (which is a lot) gets posted on Canvas where she expects you to watch basically another lecture except its outside of class. No study guides and the slides she posts on Canvas are a worse version of the actual slides in class.
The tests are fine if you memorize the ridiculous amount of info she says could be on the test. The final is stupidly hard
Going to class matters to understand the material and the course is very test heavy, but straightforward if you study everything. Rollins is a great professor.
Rollins gets way too much hate. I genuinely don't see why people think she's so boring bc I feel like the time goes by really quick in her lectures, and I like the examples she gives.
Very lecture-heavy class. Grade is almost entirely based on a few tests, so exams feel high-stakes. Professor is quiet and mostly just reads from the slides. Slides are bare and not very helpful for studying, so you end up teaching yourself a lot.
Took this class 1st semester of freshman year and it was my hardest class. Rollins kept lectures interesting for the most part. Majority of the grade was based off tests and lowest test score is dropped. Tests were difficult and you're responsible for a ton of info. Attendance not mandatory, but Rollins eventually started dishing out extra credit.
This was definitely my hardest class this year. The tests were fairly difficult and required more effort than most of my other courses. Dr. Rollins was fairly bland, but was super knowledgable about the content.
Her dry humor is honestly hilarious and she gives great examples during her lectures. Be ready to take a lot of notes and study a lot since the tests are multiple choice and based off memorization. She gets way too much hate because she's really sweet and so funny. She also talks about her husband all the time
