She is a great teacher and very helpful. Take her classes!!!!
A fabulous instructor who obviously enjoys teaching. She is an extremely valuable asset to West Valley College.
Betty Weiss is a great teacher. she is very helpful and explains algebra in a way that is easy to understand. I recommend her highly!!

Betty weiss is the best math teacher that I've had so far, she made math easy to understand.
Weiss is a great teacher, I should have done better in her class, but I ended up with a C. not showing up to a math class will almost always lead to demise.
I had this instructor for 104/106 algebra and she is fabulous! If you have any math "issues" she is the one to take...always ready to explain and go over and over topics, never makes you feel stupid! All math teachers should be like this techer.
Great instructor! She should be cloned and sent to all campuses.
She is excellent "teacher." Text very difficult to understand so Homework difficult. You can probably pass with "C". "B" or "A" not likely. Expects, as she should expect, perfection on homework and exams. Small thin
Ms. Weiss is a great instructor. Math has always been a tough subject for me. She changed that for me, though. Ms. Weiss always answers questions and explains the assignments in the fullest clarity.
I took Ms. Weiss for Math 103 and 106. She is the BEST algebra instructor that I have ever taken. I never understood it until I took her courses. She is extremely helpful and her teaching style is amazing!!
Awesome teacher. The best math teacher I've ever had. Very clear, exams are simple and contain no surprises. She even allows REDOS on hw! Knows what she is talking about, and explains concepts on plain English.
Prof Weiss is excellent professor. However, DISCRETE MATH is a course for students who have COMPLETED ALL OF THE CALCULUS COURSES. The book indicates Math 001 Pre Req. You really need to complete all of the Calculus before this course.
very clear and helpful, once she spent the entire class period, taking care of student's problems. I strongly recommend her!
She has a very beautiful smile. She teaches in a very understandable manner.Highly reccomended. She does not punish students on stupid stuff like unlike the teachers. But she is very picky on the test and HW. overall, one of the best teachers i have ever had.
Great teacher! She's a good explainer and is very patient with students.
I had her for at least 2 classes at West valley college back then...she's just great. I like the way she takes time to write her lectures on the board and explain 'em clearly instead of making slides or reading from the book like some teachers do. She deserves to be one of the best Math teachers.
Ms Weiss is an outstanding instructor. I hadn't taken a math class in 9 years and she made it very understandable. I would recommend her to anyone who is scared or hates math, she can help you get through it!
easy class just keep up on hw, quizes are usually easy and tests can be a bit tricky. she is very easy going... good class
do the HW 20% of grade. tests are fair and tests ur knowledge. quizes are really easy. easy to do well if u do the work can get a B, probably an A if u work a little harder. be careful with math 4C cuz the subject itself requires u to be very technical, lots of words and definitions
Highly recommended. She explains everything clearly. Her tests DO NOT CONTAIN unnecessary stuff. It covers important topics. It does not cover stuff that every1 would forget few weeks after the quater. The only thing 2 watchout for is that on exams if u make SMALL errors it can be costly on ur grade
Awesome! She is the best math teacher I've ever had. Very clear, calm, and helpful. If only all teachers could be like Betty Weiss!
Ms. Weiss is amazing -- she explains calculus so clearly, and she's always willing to help you with homework or difficult concepts. Very quiet personality, but once you get to know her a little bit, she's a sweetheart!
Excellent teacher. I have never seen before like her or after. Very helpful, knows the material (knowledgeble). Slowly and easily walks through the problems with you, before you know it, you will learn every problem you encounter. she is a bright teacher. I would recoment anyone. She is the one!
I thought the class was a bit slow-paced, but she's a nice teacher, and she'll do what she can to help you do well.
very kind and slow paced (but that's good for slow math leaners like myself). doesnt judge, gives plenty of help, including math retakes and hw discussions everyday. she's a great teacher!!!
BEST math teacher @ West Valley. Goes over everything until EVERYONE gets it! No quizes, homework everynight, and 3 mid terms and a final. Homework is good because she goes over it the next day and does EVERY question people don't get. And you turn it in @ the end of class!
Eh. I didn't see what was so special about her, I would rather have taken Kenstowicz. Retakes and homework not being due until the final made the temptation to slack off great, but I did appreciate how thorough she was.
She is really good at explaining concepts so they are easy to understand. She is very patient and willing to help during office hours or tutoring. Make sure to keep up on homework though, even though you can turn them all in the day of the final for full credit its very hard to catch up.
on 3 exams i've gotten a 86%, 81%, and 60%, i had a 72% on the final, ended up with a B. you be the judge. its tempting to slack bc its really on your own, but she is VERY HELPFUL. i just wish i took advantage of the help given and worked harder, i did "okay", but i kick myself knowing i couldve easily gotten an A

I didn't pass her class, but she was amazingly nice, patient, and helpful. She definitely cares about all of the students and wants to work with you to make the material clear.
downside: hw wont be accepted unless ALL problems are in. upside: she only assigns about 20 problems of hw, collects them anytime (so you can wait until the last day before the final to turn in your hw from the 1st day). there are test retakes. no attendence. she gives alot of slack, great teacher!!!!!! she is the beeest, so CLEAR on everything
Knows what she is doing
she's the best math teacher i've ever had! her patience and willingness to help made math a joy. she goes over everything, is easy to talk to, and homework is handed back the next day. the only bad thing is that all problems must be completed on the homework- yes, she will cacth them and make you finish them. take this class, it's totally worth it.
Sweet sweet woman. You will learn if you want to. She explains very thoroughly and will spend extra time with you if you need it. Must turn in your homework, but re-tests are available for all tests and bonus points if you don't need the re-test. TAKE HER CLASSES!
Tried taking Int. Algebra at De Anza-after two attempts they suggested I take it at West Valley. Betty's non-threatening, clear, patient teaching style made all the difference and helped me to succeed. Requires homework daily-she checks it. Tests can be retaken-wrong answers get partial credit. Final counts same as any test. She is a great teacher!
Interesting class and good teacher. Highly recommended. She will prepare you well for a 4 yr university. Seriously, the math depts @ UCz other than UCB, is crap. If you get a chance take a class with Weiss.
She is very patient teacher, everyone who had studied with her really like her, she helped me a lot without complain. You should take her class!!
She makes the classroom comfortable - you want to learn, she wants to teach. Her style is very effective, she is very accessible, and she obviously knows her stuff. She isn't scared of any question, and her testing/homework style relies on practice rather than threatening monster tests. No quizzes, just lots of practice. 3 tests and a final.
SUPER nice and easy to talk to and ask for help. Attendance isn't even graded, you can turn in homework late, AND re-take tests.
Wonderful instructor! Doesn't make one feel an idiot. Clear, concise, expects perfect homework and will kick it back if anything less. However, this method works, and I've learned more from her than any other instructor...math or other. I was a horrible math student before I landed on her doorstep in 103, now, I rock!
Ms. Weiss is a great explainer when it comes to math. Class is not mandatory, but watching her do it is immeasurably helpful. Also, HW points are able to be "earned back." The only down is she is very adamant about showing ALL WORK and has no defined way of taking points on exam/HW; you can sometimes unwarrantedly lose a lot for something small.
After taking algebra twice in HS, I finally understand the subject! Ms. Weiss is very clear and helpful in her explanations, often spending much of a class period going over hw we didn't understand. I wish I could've learned from her sooner. Too bad she isn't teaching my next math class this semester! Quiet, patient, cheerful. Recommended! :)
She is super nice and so helpful and clear! I have never understood math so well I normally get a B in math but for her I got %100. Attendance isn't graded, you can turn in homework late, and if you get a bad grade you can re-take tests
the class is relaxed and she teaches everything out of the book. she is very helpful with questions and returns assignments with corrections quickly. She is can be to thorough sometimes and like any math class u can easily pass out
Ms.Weiss is excellent in teaching math. She is also a sweetheart willing to provide extra time in helping students who seek help. I wish I could take all the math required courses with her until I transfer. Very lucky to have her as an instructor. Highly recommand - excellent teacher!
She is a wonderful teacher. You will learn a lot from her. Attendance is not required. 3 exams, and re-do on homework. Very lucky to take her class. Highly recommended. Great teacher!
really nice lady, really helpful, but gives out too much slack. It would have helped me to have had quizzes. In this class you have to basically learn for yourself.

If u plan on taking higher math classes, I seriously do not recommend taking her. She is really nice & helpful but on my 1st day in PreCal I felt like I didnt learn enough, even when I got a 97% easy! She spent most of class time going over homework. Great for someone who really has hard time in math. But to those moving on, she may hold u back
She is one of the best math teachers at WVC. Highly recommended! Very clear, patient, and fair. Love her as an instructor. She is also a beautiful person. If you are in the right level, take hers. Don't blame her when you are in the wrong class. Again, highly recommended math insructor!
Very nice teacher, organized, helpful, with a really good knowledge. Before I take this class I didn't like math so much, but I could get an A from this class, and now I love calculus. just take her class.
Betty is the best math teacher I have ever had. She never rushes through material, goes over problems individually if you need too, and generally is a great help. I highly recommend her especially if you need help in math.
A teacher that will condense the material from tough to easy. Really cares about the students and wants everyone to do well. Not like other math teachers that just load their students with who knows what. The best math teacher I have had in my entire life.
Great teacher
The best instructor I have had since starting college. Her weakness is that she is too helpful, which occasionally slows down the class. Her lectures are clear and easy to follow. You can take effective notes by simply copying what she puts on the board. And she is always covered in chalk, which I think says a lot about her love of what she does.
Betty is perhaps on of the best teachers at West Valley. She is extreamly Helpful and has no problem helping you if you need it. Strongly Reccomend.
I have taken alot of math classes and she is the best math teacher @ west valley.
She is wonderful teacher. If you take her class you wont have any problem, How ever, Get A in her exams are no easy but she is very good teacher. I strongly recommended it.
Ms. Weiss is the ideal math teacher you would want: helpful and clear during her lectures. Homework follows what she teaches in class so there is no curve balls doing Homework. She allows Retest if you get a 80% or below on her test, I don't see how anyone could score low on her test though. Oh and she isn't hot like the ratings say.
Ms Weiss is a great teacher. Her exams are very fair. She lets you redo the homework which is great. The only thing is she grades harshly on small mistakes on the exams.
Simply the best!!!!! Weiss is awesome and her skill of explaining difficult topics and rendering them simple is truly a gift. Handa should take a notepad, slap himself in the face, and get on his knees and learn how to be a GOOD teacher that can actually TEACH!
Awesome teacher..she explains problems crystal clear to your understanding..she is a great teacher and i recommend her for any type of math..if you are not that good in math take her, cause she explains it very well..
Ms. Weiss is an excellent teacher! She is extremely helpful and will dedicate class time if reasonable to help with almost ALL homework questions. Her lecture notes and examples are VERY detailed because she writes out EACH step. Great teacher for learners who just don't understand as quickly! Tests are VERY straightforward.
best math teacher ever! wish i could have her for all my math classes
she is the best math teacher i've ever had - really helped me understand pre-Cal/trig. i wish i could have her for all my math classes. like any math class you have to keep up with the homework though so that is why all math classes are not 'easy'
Best Math teacher ever!!!! So nice ands o patience. Willing to help anytime you have questions. She is the best math teacher i ever had! Exams are straight forward. If you study her lecture notes and do the review hws, you will be fine.
Awesome teacher..love her. she explains math problems step by step and gives plenty of examples. she is awesome. take her...!
Awesome teacher..love her. she explains math problems step by step and gives plenty of examples. she is awesome. take her...!
Mrs. Weiss is the best math teacher in all colleges in the bay area. I always had a hard time in math but after taking her class, I love math and I've learned so much. If you need to take a math class, take it with Betty Weiss because she's the best teacher at west valley college.I would transfer schools if it wasn't for Mrs. Weiss!5STARS=MRS.WEISS
Ms. Weiss is such a boss!!! There is a lot of homework. Test problems are very similar to the ones from lecture and HW. My only criticism for this class was the book. Overall it gave a very poor explanation of the concepts, and some of the problems were vague at best. Good thing her lectures were so clear!
This teacher is good, she is a little of a push over, &is really awkward. She doesn't use the book which is great cause the course is a lot cheaper. She uses MyMathLab, but doesn't know hows use it. This teacher is great if you don't understand math, but if you do and you need a breif explaination, don't take this class. You will be bored as hell.
She is the best teacher! She always takes time to explain things step by step, and doesn't mind if you don't get it at the first time.
The best math teacher I've ever had. Thoroughly explains the material in clear terms. Notes are concise and helpful. Homework is to the point and exam is related to homework questions. She is very nice, approachable, and helpful. I wish I could take all 5 Calculus classes with her.. oh well.
Easy teacher, she goes through all the steps but with her own pace and it can be a bit annoying for those who are fast learners like me. Online Homework sucked but hey it's easy points. You can retake her test if you get a bad score on your previous one (you can retake it as much as you want!). Above all, easy teacher, I'd recommend her.
Taking Weiss for Intermediate Algebra this semester. I have to agree with all of the great recommendations. Last semester I had a nightmare of an instructor and what a change to work with a professor that is well organized and the gift of getting the concept across to students. Will update more after class finals but I can tell you she rocks!
Explains everything step-by-step and allows revisions on the exams if you get below 70%. Allowed to miss 3 homework assignments. You get the grade you want in this class. It's math but it's definitely the most helpful/non-stressful math class I have been in. Withdrew two times before this with other teachers. Now I have an A.
My goodness, of all the instructors i've taken for math, she's the most helpful, understanding, top-notch instructor i've ever had! her lectures a VERY clear and she's very patience and eager to answer questions and help students out. she's wonerful! i guarantee you won't regret it. :)
She is very helpful & provides study guides prior to tests. Shows up at her office hours for assistance & the math lab if you need help. I highly recommend her for anyone taking algebra.
Knows her material and is extremely helpful!
Prof. Weiss is an awesome teacher. She is clear, helpful and simplifies the material so her students can understand. She's quite funny too. Her practice tests are reflective of her real test. I wish she would teach statistics
Betty Weiss is the BEST INSTRUCTOR that I have had at WVC. She is so very patient, explains things step by step clearly. She makes learning fun and you want to learn more and more! She's a beautiful woman, with beautiful deep eyes and a beautiful smile! I'm so disappointed that she is not teaching Statistics next semester...
I'm so glad I was able to take calc with her. She's extremely nice and provides so many tools to better understand calculus and get an A in her class. The thing I liked best about her class are the notes she posts about the chapters on Angel. They basically summarize her lectures and also the key points of every chapter.
Ms. Weiss is my math savior. I am terrible at understanding and retaining mathematical information but I got an 'A' in her class because of how great of a teacher she is. Absolute YES to this instructor.
She is a great teacher only teacher in math department to let you take retests on your test if you have a low grade. Do all homework do great on tests take the retests if u failed a test it all adds up to a great grade great teacher notes helpful.. Highly recommend taking her
Professor Weiss really cares about her students. she makes it obvious that she is trying to help you succeed in learning algebra. Her tests are very straight forward. No tricks. She is willing to answer questions if you get stuck during a test. great teacher.
One of the best math teachers I've ever had! She explains everything very clear and wont move on till everyone understands. She uses MML instead of a textbook which saves you good money. She gives you practice tests prior to each test that are exactly like the test problems and it helps a ton! Highly recommended. Easy A
Professor Weiss is the best math teach I have ever had! She's very clear and thoroughly explains everything. Her study guides are very similar to her exams. If you're the type of person who isn't very good at math she is the perfect teacher to take! Very easy to receive an A. Just complete the homework assignments and do well on tests. She's great!
Betty is an amazing teacher! She loves to review the algebraic concepts and makes excellent study guides.
Betty Weiss is the best teacher at WVC! She is super clear with her lectures and always makes sure everyone is on the same page. She gives out practice tests before exams and let's you make up exams if you get a bad grade. Such a sweet lady all around I HIGHLY recommend taking her if math isn't really your strong point; it makes sense with her.
Betty Weiss is a solid teacher. She explains things very well and always answers questions because she really wants her students to succeed. Show up to class, do all homework, study from the study guides, and you'll do well. Exams are tough but not impossible. I HIGHLY recommend her if you struggle with math and are willing to work hard :)
i took math 2 times and didnt pass, but i took ms. weiss as my 3rd attempt and passed! shes helpful, explains and approaches math better then any of my previous teachers. do your hmwk and go to the tutoring center for extra help. thats how i passed. she lets you also retake test! highly recommend her if you struggle with math!
take her course! shes really nice, and organize. she gives a lot of examples that maybe on the hmwk. take notes and do the hmwk. math isnt for everyone, but she makes it easy to understand. really great teacher! no extra credit, she grades fair, and allows you to retake test! cant complain with a chance to do better (:
BEST MATH TEACHER AT WEST VALLEY PERIOD.
Hands down the best math professor at west valley. The tests are very similar to the homework. Homework is worth 20% total grade. Very helpful in office hours. Crystal clear in teaching mathematics. Take her for every math class you can!
She teaches the class with lots of examples which is helpful. She is very helpful and understanding, and allows retest to improve low scores. The homework was online, which allowed me to use the "help me solve this" button. Would take her classes again.
Weiss is a fantastic instructor. She is well organized, clear in her communications and examples in class, and super mellow. I don't think I even looked at the book except to do the online homework (she used Webassign for homework). She grades exams FAST and though a stickler for the details, I found her to be quite fair. Would HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Only benefit of taking her is being able to re-take the tests if you get a C or lower. She's also not strict on attendance.
She is absolutely one of the best math teachers at west valley college. She is attentive to all the studentss and kind. I loved her style.
Can teach, learned a ton, though hardish exams. Very Aceable if you commit. Clear and to the point lectures, room for curiousity and questions.
Betty is VERY generous about extra credit. HW online (WebAssign). If you are having trouble with a topic she will give you an extension on the HW, always availible for office hourstutor center. VERY helpful and smart. Tests are equivalent to HW, if not easier. She won't give the hardest ?'s. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Super chill teacher and attendance policy (there is none). Helpful if you need it, clear class, and gives study guides for every single exam (awesome and a great help). I suck at math (i've failed a few classes), but passed this easy. Don't get left behind on homework though, they are due every day I believe.
Nice, clear, straightforward. good teacher and I would take her again. She is a fair grader and you'll probably get an A or B if you study. lot of HW but make the time commitment (Chegg helps) Only complaint is she needs to create new exams instead of using reusing past exams, and just post old exams online for students to study off.
Clear lectures with lots of examples for homework, 3 hw dueweek but can be long and tedious. Grades selected problems. Redos on all hw. Test every two - three weeks on 5 sections. Tests are long, but study the homework probs that are graded, lecture examples, and review and you be able to ace. Super nice & always there to answer any question
Betty is such an amazing professor. She makes Calculus II a breeze just because of the way she teaches: clear and slow (in a good way). Her tests are not tough at all. If you can do the homework, you can certainly ace the test! I can't stress how amazing she is. There is a reason why there were 15 students on the wait list for her math 3b class :)
She is awesome teacher. Always willing to help. There are three test and a final . Final is hard but tests are straight forward.
Shes a great teacher, helps you and clearly explains the problems, sometimes they get a bit tedious but we had over 15 people on the waitlist ontop of her normal class, her test arent hard as long as u do the hw completely and go over it, you should always do the review even if it isnt graded it helps alot, though you should definitely pay attentio
Professor Weiss explains mathematical concepts much more clearly than other math professors I've taken! She breaks them up, step-by-step. There is a LOT of review in her higher math classes, so you may find that boring. She also manages to incorporate cool proofs and math ideas/discoveries that most other profs don't do! Take her!
I was kind of disappointed with her class after reading many good reviews. Shes really nice and laid back, but shes not very clear in explaining and speaks so quiet is hard to hear her (sit on the 1st chair!). I felt she didnt worry at all if most students weren't understanding a topic and would just keep on moving forward with the material.
3rd class taken with Betty. Disappointed with discrete b/c she had multiple occurrences of putting tough problems on the tests where only one student answered correctly (leaving everyone with minus 12 points). (longish) HW due every class (1-2 sections), 3/4 tests , and final. no extra credit but you can re-do hw for full credit.
she doesnt know how to explain things, me and my friend that took this class basically had to teach our selves.
I enjoyed this class very much. I dislike math so I am heavily dependent on my instructor to see me through and Ms. Weiss delivered me from my lack of natural talent for math. Very methodical explanations in the classroom setting and if you can access her during office hours, the one on one tutoring is second to none.
Betty is an amazing articulator. I have always despised math, but after being in her class, it's one of my favorite classes! She is always on time, and organized. She gives lots of examples and opportunities to practice in class. She provides practice quizzes and tests that are super helpful. If math is your weakness, this is the teacher you want.
If I can have her for all of my math classes I wouldn't hesitate. She is very clear and easy to be understood.
Took her class for 106 and she was very knowledgable. She doesn't make students feel incapable, she is understanding and there to help you when you need it. Wish she taught stats.
One of the worst in person teachers I've ever taken. She would spend class barely introducing new concepts, would talk more about their history than how to use them. No examples at all. Class grade average was in the gutter so I wasn't the only one who had issues. She has great online material though. Passed by teaching myself off that, not class.
I never took a math class until I started college my math 103 teacher was harder for me to comprehend then Betty and she's my 106 teacher she explains things in extreme detail so you understand the material she doesn't go too fast and expect everybody to know what she's talking about she is a very good teacher and makes it easy to learn
Very good teacher. Presents the information well and will work with you if you have scheduling conflicts or emergencies come-up. Very approachable too.
very nice and very easy a !! posts all of her notes online, to study for a test just do the problems on the notes. also go to her office hours if you need to !! she's seriously the best.
tests are pretty similar to what she goes over in class, sometimes throws in a problem with some extra steps but seems to be pretty generous with points still. Homework can be kinda hard even though assessments/quizzes are pretty straightforward. lectures are alright, not bad to keep up with and even slack a little if you have alg 2 down well
Easy avg professor However, Made an invalid correction for a test problem The problem was asked to find the time the rocket reaches its max(no platform) I had proved therefore that because the parabolas end point was 20 seconds the max was half, 10 I had to prove to her twice that my answer was true. I C aryanot be tricked or brainwashed ever
Easy class good professor. Easy lectures and in depth study guides. Good class agenda with notes problem solving and worksheets. Only issue was towards the end of the year Scored 13.87 on a quiz on mymathlab and she forgot to put it in but responded right away and fixed the error on canvas.
she lectures well and makes things easy to understand, however she gives a TON of hw. like a ton. if i had to take her again i would but she wouldn't be my first choice.
shes an amazing professor, her lectures are really good and her office hours are even better, she does give a good amount of hw. another plus side is that she is very understanding. I would def take it again
She made calculus easy to understand and will give you points for doing the work correct even if you end up with the wrong final answer. Study for tests which are pretty similar to homework and examples and you will do just fine! Would definitely take another one of her classes. You can tell she puts her passion for math into her teaching.
Professor Weiss is a very even-tempered instructor. When I didn't understand one of the concepts she taught earlier in the course, she took the time to type out a full, easy to read, explanation that made the concept seem SO simple. She's VERY understanding, so if you want a math course that includes great explanations, this is the one for you!
I took Professor Weiss for 3A and I did not do well on the first test( this was obviously my fault), however there are little assignments other than quizzes and exams to get your grade up. Lectures can be quite long, however they were all recorded which was very nice.
She's really nice and easy-going !
she is amazing . I very like her teaching style .pertains
She is quick to respond and there when you need help! I had this class online due to COVID and my internet was not the best but she is very understanding. You do have to purchase a textbook/homework for her course. She also has student hours for additional support. Weekly homework and quizzes. Enjoyed her class a lot, I have her again next semester
She is nice but I think she would be a much better teacher in person. As an online teacher, her lectures come off as mumbling through coursework, it's hard to tell if she enjoys what she teaches. Most of my learning had to come from the book. Lots of homework which is surprisingly necessary as the only way to learn this material outside of class.
I had Professor Weiss for two both trig and math 3A, shes super understanding and is there to support you! Take advantage of study hours and make sure to pay attention to lectures. Weekly hw and quizzes and 4 exams. Overall, I am not the strongest in calc but I managed to get through.
Very kind and easy going professor. Homework is graded. Uses MyMathLab for homework and quizzes, which didn't work well for me. Her lecture style didn't really work well for me, it felt like she was rambling through each example. Examples were relevant to the homework & tests. Strongly recommend going to her office hours for homework help.
Good at explaining and many office hours. Keep up with the work and you should be fine.
I'm in the middle of her Trig class rn, and honestly she gives really good lectures. She explains with a lot of detail and will go over problems you're having trouble understanding with the whole class. Exams are open note which is AWESOME and gives extensions on the homework with only a 30% grade markdown (compared to 50%).
I can see how Betty would be a great calc professor. However, I do not like how her teaching style transfers over to her discrete math class (MATH19). There are no online calcs/visualizers for this branch of mathematics, making it much harder than calc. She lets you use the internet, but the subject, combined with her teaching style can be harsh.
She is a good lecturer and cares about her students' success. Very lenient. However, homework is extreme. I personally hate doing homework from a textbook, but that's precisely what I found myself doing for 8 hours at minimum every week. 200+ handwritten pages. I much prefer online homework that gives automatic feedback if you are right or wrong.
Online lectures and well calculus is really boring so it's easy to get distracted but the recorded lectures are always uploaded to canvas and easy to access. However, I noticed that some of the hw problems were not mentioned in lecture examples and even exam questions were very complicated versions of homework problems so that was a bit shocking.
I had her online and she experienced technology issues somewhat often but always was able to adapt. The lectures themselves were a bit drawn-out but her voice is very calming and the lectures are recorded so if you weren't listening you can rewatch them. The homework is quite clear and it's easy to get full points. Exams are predictable.
For this course, she uses xyzhomework for homework and exams and takes the scores exactly from them. Accessible outside of class via email and Zoom, and will tend to help students/give them a grade in the event the website is broken (happened like 3-4 times). Has prerecorded lectures on Zoom, but you will effectively self-study for the course.
Betty is a very very kind professor. She communicates to students in a very quick manner and is there to help. There are no set office hours so you must make appointments should you need face to face assistance with your homework. Lots of homework, but manageable. DO NOT get behind! It will be hard to catch up. Final is cumulative.
Professor Weiss is merely a faciliator and puts in grades from xyzhomework for this course. Nonetheless, she is highly approachable and can resolve issues with some of the assignments alongside office hours in the event something doesn't make sense. Class was online so no real lectures besides Zoom videos she recorded, still good though!
She is a very lenient and kind professor. All her exams including the final are open note, your just not allowed screens. All the homework has unlimited attempts and late passes. She also offers test corrections on exams if the class has a low average. Her office hours are also very helpful.
Amazing and nice professor. The tests had curveball questions that were not in the homework. It was really lecture-heavy and I couldn't pay attention to the lessons which made me rely on classmates and independent studying. Professor Weiss is still a really good teacher if you can pay attention to her lectures.
Professor Weiss is a kind and understanding instructor. The class is lecture-heavy, so paying attention is key. Unstuck study and office hours helped me stay on top of the weekly homework and quizzes. Overall, a manageable course if you engage with the material.
