DO NOT TAKE!
Extremely unhelpful...
Difficult to understand her accent. I found her to be intimidating and not helpful. Constantly changed around the syllabus and she never clearly outlines the grading criteria for anything. Would not recommend.
shes straight forward. easy and friendly. when given respect shes perfect.
I did not like her at all. She was hard to understand at times.
I don't understand how someone could be this bad of a teacher and not care at all about the students.
She's a great professor! I don't understand what everyone is talking about. You can understand her perfectly with the accent. She likes to get things done, and as her student, so should you. As long as you give her respect, she can be your best friend, and an absolutly amazing teacher.
She was very hard to understand and didn't seem to willing to help if you were having trouble.
Seriously, don't take her class.
Not a bad professor. she speaks english well. i don't understand how people have problems with her accent unless they lived under a rock for the majority of their life. as far as the work... i made no effort in either class and received a's.
I don't know what y'all are talking about. She is very clear and friendly. She explains the material well and is always approachable. I would highly recommend her.
I have trouble following her, she seems to go a bit fast. She also never seems to want to help, and when we ask questions she never understand what we are asking.
terrible teacher, so unhelpful and unresonable
Ms. Alleyne really understands her students and makes an obvious and sincere effort to help any of her students outside of class.
oh man, terrible

She was the worst teacher i have ever had
While she is sometimes hard to understand, she is a really good teacher. I worked hard for my B, but I really understood accounting after her class.
She's a good teacher, and at first I really thought the class was going to be alright, but then, sometimes she would come across really mean, and almost like she didn't care that you were having trouble. It's really hard to read her, and I don't think I would take her again for Accounting II.
don't go to her for help like i did. she'll make you pay later by picking you out in class and asking you tough questions just to be mean. hard to understand the accent too sometimes. doesn't explain things well. bad teaching method... learn from embarassment?? i think not. i might have come out with a good grade, but i hated every second of it.
If you ask her for help and demonstrate that you are trying, she will bend over backwards to make sure you understand. She really does care about her students. She is jamaican, so sometimes you think she doesn't care, but when you talk to her one on one, you know she does. She has spent several hours of one-on-one time with me.
Better with Accounting 1, she knows the topic better. Comes across a little harsh but its her sense of humor. She'll bend over backwards for you if she knows you are trying hard. Calls you out in class though, so be ready for that. Got a B and had to work really hard. Didn't do so well in Acct. 2, she doesn't know as well.
VERY hard class in my opinion, but Dr. Alleyne will bend over backwards to make sure you understand the material. Very dry sense of humor, but if you can get it, she's hilarious. She's very knowledgeable about the subject and if you work really hard, she will try to see that you get the grade you want. DO the homework!!
Good teacher in my opinion, not the easiest but you learned it and she worked with you.
I thought she was better in ACC I, but I think that she is probably easy than all the other accounting teachers for I and II. She comes off harsh at the beginning but she is very helpful and really trys to help you understand a boring subject. I would definatly take her for these classes. DO THE HOMEWORK! it will help you out a lot!!
Mrs. Alleyne is a really nice lady... she definatley comes off as tough but is a very caring person underneath. Accounting is not a fun subject but she does a really good job at explaining things and showing lots of helpful examples. I am mathmatically challenged and have done well. She is willing to help you as long as you are willing to work.
shes really nice but she isnt the best teacher in the world. then again, it could be that accounting just isn't the easiest subject in the world. either way i'm pretty sure she still doesn't realise im in her class.
Great teacher...really easy to follow.
i've had her for 3 months now and she still doesn't know my name. She has 3 office hours a week which she often schedules appt's during. I went to ask for help during office hours and she told me to "make it quick". i felt like she "bent over backwards" for some students and couldn't care less about others (me).
She is a good teacher. She is very helpful. If you read the chapters and study you will do good on the tests. Also make sure to participate in class. Her class is easy if you try.
Picks on students. Quizes on every chapter before u review them aren't easy. Doesn't know accounting that well. She can be nice, but I would recommend the other instructors before her.
Very passionate and helpful. You must meet her half way otherwise you are wasting your time and hers :)
This was an integrated accounting class so it was difficult. But I believe she created some situations that were totally unfair and left all odds against success for the students because she felt it was making us learn the material. She had good intentions all along but in essence I felt as if I were taking a Law School class.Loved her as a person.
Dr. Alleyne is so awesome. I took the integreated accounting course. This class is not easy no matter who you take it from, but she really tries to help you understand it. She stayed like an hour after class just to help me with one of her projects. I promise you will come out of that class knowing everything about accounting. GREAT TEACHER!
She is an amazing teacher who really knows accounting. Integrated accounting was the hardest class of my life but it is not her fault. It is the curriculum. She is SO helpful and kind, tries to make projects fun. She is there for you whenever you need help and gives her cell number out which I have called multiple times to get help. Recommended
she was so hard! i just don't do numbers but she was not easy going at all. i was in the hospital one night before a test and i ended up failing it. She didn't give me any opportunity to get some kind of extra credit or anything. basically she said try and get A's on everything else. MEANNNNNNNN.
Rude. Once I started to get behind in class, as many freshman do their first semester, she stopped helping me. She thought i did it intentionally and told me before final project that I had already failed the class, so I didnt have to do it. Because of her, I failed a class my first semester at college. Not inspiring at all.
While the class is challenging Beverly was very helpful in teaching the material. She would help you learn it as much as she could, and gives her personal cell number out for you to call. Some comments on here said they didn't like her because they were looking for some free points. Beverly has a strict curriculum and you have to earn the grade
She made the subject matter possible.
I don't see why people take the Integrated Accounting classes. You have to work really hard to get a B in Accounting I. If you combine the classes, chances are that you will fail that class no matter how much time you have to study.
At first, I really liked Professor Alleyne. She seemed so nice. But when I started skipping class here and there, I got the feeling that if I visited her in her office for help, I would just get shunned for not coming to class EVERY DAY. Integrated ACC is not impossible, and she made it doable, but not my favorite.
I had her for integrated Acc. Here's the secret- READ THE BOOK and GO TO CLASS. Accounting is perhaps the most important aspect of business so it is important to learn. I got an A and she loved me, and the only reason was because I participated and showed interest, even when I hated the topic. She is very kind and easy to get along with.
This is a challenging class, but it is not impossible to get an A. The trick is to do the reading before class. If you get behind it would be very hard to catch up. Homework is not mandatory, it would be hard to get an A if you do not do it. Beverley is more than willing to help you out, and even provides her cell number on the 1st day of class.
LOVE her. She's very helpful, and if you show up and pay attention it's not hard to do well. Her accent is a little thick so you have to listen closely, but she is eager to help you succeed.
I was really struggling in the class and just thought I would never understand the work so I didn't even go to ask for help. When I did it was a little too late to make the best grade, but she helped me and so many others in the class greatly. She definitely dedicates her time to her work and students. The class is fun too!
Dr. Alleyne loves to call people out. If you are struggling or just not having a good day she will call you out in front of the class and embarass you.The tests are difficult but not impossible. She encourages outside class help but it is still possible to get an A without being in her office all of the time.
Paying attention is a must. Dr. Alleyne is willing to help, and is even light-hearted at times, but will hold you accountable and rarely tolerates unexcused absences. 3 different test versions to prohibit cheating, only remotely easy tests if you've studied. Not a course to take if you want to slack, but good if you're willing to work.
Dr. Alleyne is amazing! I went into integrated accounting thinking I was going to fail, but she sincerely cares about each student's understanding the material. DO THE SUGGESTED PROBLEMS! Not only do they help immensely on the tests, she also is more lenient with bad grades you might get and possibly bonus points if you do them regularly.
I had Dr. Alleyne for integrated accounting. I began the semester off with poor grades and a poor grasp on the subject. Dr. Alleyne was extremely helpful and completely dedicated to helping me succeed in her course. I attended office hours and she was very helpful. To this day she never fails to ask me by name how I am doing every time I see her.
It is not impossible to get an A, but I would recommend do the reading before class. If you get behind it'll be very hard to catch up so go see her if you don't understand something, she is very willing to help. Do the homework, practice every problem done in class, it's a lot of work, but after all this is a 6hr class.
She definitely does not take any BS. She flies through the material which is very frustrating, but she is so willing to help you outside of class. I met with her outside class consistently & got an A. Advice: DO the suggested problems! I know there's a ton but it's so worth it when its time for a test. Always meet with her when a project is due!
Didn't care for the subject, but Dr. Alleyne is a sweet woman. By the end of the semester I was absolutely done with accounting, but that's just because it isn't for me. I probably shouldn't have taken the 6 hour class, but it fit my schedule. I guess if you have to take accounting then take it with her.
Awesome professor. Hard subject but you can get an A pretty easily if you put some effort into it. Not as bad as everyone makes the subject out to be.
This class will test you. It's a LOT of work (full chapter outlines once or twice a week) and extensive tests. She is picky about how your work is done and really wants you to be in class. That being said, she teaches extremely well. She's very professional, clear, friendly, and has a sense of humor. She also loves saying she worked for Prudential.
She is by far my fav teacher. She is so helpful and cares so much about her students. may be intimidating at first but just take the initiative to talk to her and do your work. There is a lot of work to do and the class can be challenging but she is great at teaching in the best way possible. If you are lazy and dont do your hw you will struggle.
Took the 6 hour accounting class from Dr. Alleyne, and she is amazingly helpful. She is willing to do whatever it takes to help you learn the (VERY dry) subject. You will have to work in this class, but it'll pay off.
This class was tough, but it's not impossible to make an A. Just study the outlines and go over the problems that were done in class. You don't have to do the extra probelms. Dr. Alleyne is so helpful. I went to her office three times in one day and she dropped everything that she was doing to help me. Set up a meeting early to talk about projects!
Alleyne is a good teacher but the class covers so much content that it can be hard to keep up. You'll learn a ton but expect to pour your heart and soul into this class if you want a decent grade.
This class definitely isn't easy but Dr. Alleyne is really great at answering your questions and her office is always open if you need extra help. There's a lot of homework but it will help you in the long run with the tests which can be difficult. Since it's 6 credits you get a lot of info but I feel like I've learned a lot of helpful information.
Alleyne is always willing to help, given it is a tough class. Tests are hard and require multiple hours of studying to get a good grade. She forces you to participate, so don't take an 8 am like I did. That said, it pays off because I feel like an accounting expert now thanks to her teaching skills. Difficult class, but well worth it for Alleyne.
Professor Alleyne is very knowledgable about the material. She gives plenty of examples and that is the best to study for the tests. A lot of tests, and a lot of points in the gradebook; is a great thing! Be ready to participate and ask questions to understand the material. Do not skip class, it is hard to catch up. Really felt like I learned a TON
This is by far the BEST accounting teacher. She is so helpful. If you study the problems completed in class and the outlines, you will do well. She explains the material very well and I enjoyed this class. Be aware of outlines due and projects. Keep an eye on the syllabus because she is very organized and follows it.
She was honestly the best professor I've ever had. She truly cares about her students and wants them to succeed.
All outlines due first day they are introduced. Chapter 1 outline first day of class. Don't write the paper for any outline but the first, just use the templates she provides and write below them. Re-work the end of chapter problems she goes over IN CLASS to prepare for the tests. Start the projects early, pick your group wisely. Final is cumulativ
I absolutely love Professor Alleyne. She is so sweet and funny, not to mention an amazing teacher. Yes, the class is hard, lots of homework, tests you need to be prepared for. But it's a 6 credit hour course and you should expect it to be difficult. Her teaching style is so easy to understand and she cracks me up. Take this teacher you won't regret
Dr. Alleyne is a wonderful professor. As an accounting major, I took this course my freshman year. I thought it was difficult when I was in it but, in hindsight this class wasn't as bad as it seemed. Realize that you are in two classes at once, and going through two books at once. Dr. Alleyne is the best professor for this class.
Alleyne is very good at explaining all the procedural aspects of accounting. As a 6 hour class, there is an absurd amount of material. Very intense, and she calls on random people the whole class. You also have to outline the entire 1,000 page textbook. While this class is a lot of work, there is nothing too difficult about it. Definitley pick Bev.
The class is very hard, be prepared to read and outline everything, However, as for accounting, she is by far the best professor. She clearly lays out everything. You will 100% know accounting by the end of this class, and it's well worth the difficulty.
This is by far the hardest class I have ever taken (as I expected it to be). The amount of course work is too much, between each chapter outlines, online homework, group projects, and preparing for exams . She made her students teach almost every chapter to the class, instead of her teaching it, so I did not learn well at all.
Gives you study guides before each exam, but don't waste your time as they are completely opposite of what is on the exam. Studied for each test for hours and hours and never could do well. Also does no in class review, and the online homework, mandatory chapter outlines, and group projects were too extensive. worst class I have ever taken
Belmont doesn't teach this course well. Take it somewhere else and transfer credit. Alleyne is a good person, but the work demanded is absurd. Yes, its 6 credit hours, but in order to get an A in this course, you would have to spend hours every single day working towards it. Oh wait, I did that and got a C! Take it somewhere else!!!!!!
the tests are dumb hard
ACC-2430 is a hard class and she makes that know. You definitely have to work hard for your grade. Nonetheless, she's a great professor who truly cares about the subject and her students. Out of all the options for Accounting, I would definitely go with her. She'll work with you to make sure you understand the material as well.
Dr. Alleyne is such an amazing and wonderful professor. She is hilarious, genuine, and caring. Most importantly, she knows how to teach and make accounting easier and bearable. There is a lot of work and reading to be done, and you do get what you put in, since accounting isn't a very light class.
The professor is always accessible, yet she does call on everyone during the two-hour class for participation points. Cameras have to be on for class but a ten-minute break is given halfway into class. If you want to actually learn the material, take this class! If you're looking to keep the camera off and get an easy A, look elsewhere.
Dr. Alleyne is genuinely one of the sweetest and most helpful professors I've ever had, but it's a really difficult class. She's really helpful but I studied harder for this class than I probably ever have and I would still get 60s on the tests and there's just a lot of work. I love her but it's not a fun class to take.
If you don't feel like you want to participate in in-class examples, don't worry! The material you'll practice there won't be on the exam anyways! But if you get called on randomly (which you will) and you don't know what to do, you'll get stared at by Professor Alleyne like you're dumb, then you'll get no assistance on how to actually solve it.
Accounting is a hard subject but I'm so glad I took this class with Dr. Alleyne! She is such a great professor and explains topics in such an easy to understand manner. There is a lot of work since it is a 6 hour credit class so you definitely have to work hard. Dr. Alleyne is very accessible outside of class.
Lots of opportunity to raise your grade outside of the exams. Expectations are clear and the syllabus is organized. Sometimes, I felt her instruction confused me more when I had a question. Tons of homework, but Dr. Alleyne is accessible outside of class. For a course that is essentially 2 classes in one, Dr. Alleyne is a good choice.
Had Professor Alleyne for accounting twice due to failing the first time. Definitely one of the toughest professors I've had. The most important thing to remember is that this class is SIX credit hours so treat it as such. Skipping this class or falling behind will sink you so show up. She is your biggest cheerleader though and very helpful.
This class is the first "hard" class I took at Belmont. However, it is not hard as everyone is making it out to be. As long as you participate, use her during office hours, and study for exams before you take them, you will get an easy B- to A+. If you are not a business major, this class might bore you, but she makes the class very engaging.
if you take her for accounting it's going to be hard, it's 6 credit hours. But you get out what you put in. Ms Alleyne is a great Professor in my book, she takes her time to explain something if you don't understand it. There are many chances to get a better grade outside of class, take the time to do the work, and do the notes before class!!
i LOVED prof alleyne. she is so beyond caring, kind, and really wants you to succeed.very difficult class but she knows that. She walks through problems & homework is not hard.Tests are worth same as homework. they're tough, but they won't srsly affect your grade. show up, participate, and you'll be fine. beware of being randomly called on though.
Dr. Alleyne is so and very accessible. What you put into the class is reflected in your grade. Several exams but lots of other grades to help you if you don't do well. This is two classes in one semester so it is tough but if you want a professor who is caring and very knowledgeable take her!! Lots of participation in class
Dr. Alleyne is amazing!! The integrated accounting course is not easy, but she makes this class very possible to succeed in. There are points for literally all the work you do, so there is not as much pressure for the tests. There are multiple assignments for every lecture, 3 tests and a final (not cumulative), and 4 projects. Definitely take her!!
