One of the coolest teachers at YSU.

After seeing Dr. Gartland for a semester, I wonder if she'd be better off hitting the streets and attacking social problems than explaining/discussing them in the classroom. She is very knowledgeable about these problems and feisty enough to battle them.

This woman does NOT have her doctorate yet allows people to call her DOCTOR. She's impressive if you are 19 and think teachers who swear are cool.

One of the easiest and most entertaining professors I've had.

Very friendly and befriends her students to make class a family atmosphere. Concentrates on life, not a textbook. Tends to take class a slower than most students but allows you to really understand the topics. Took her four times and would do it another four. She's not for bookworms or honors students; she's for the rest of us.

EASY!!! Never went...just showed up and took the tests. Wrote my paper, turned it in during the final...A for the course. I love Dr. Gartland...she's an easy GPA boost!

Does ramble a bit, but has clear standards of what is on test, and if you like your grade enough by the final you didn't have to take it

Wonderful teacher. Very nice. I have taken 3 classes with her. She talks a lot instead of teaching but I enjoy her classes nonetheless.

Easy teacher but tended to ramble on a lot. Told a lot of stories. Talked a lot about Hurricane Katrina. There was a SI session. The SI session really helped me out. Recieved an A. Fall 2005

She is a really nice lady. Her tests are extremely easy and her study guides go along with the test exactly. Try taking her. She is a nice lady and an easy A.

Nice teacher and a pretty easy class. Study guides have almost all the answers there for you and lectures are interesting for the most part. Does go on tangents once in awhile but they are usually funny stories.

this is the best class i have taken since i have been to ysu. she is so passionate about what she teaches which in turn makes u want to learn it. changing my major because of her class. strongly recomended and i would take her again in a heart beat!

My friend and I had her for intro to sociology. Gave a lot of slack towards the class, you really have to screw up to fail. Very helpful for intro class.

Beverly is an excellent teacher. I loved her class. She does not teach from the book, it's all from lecture, therefore you must take extensive notes. The way she teaches, personally made it so I barely had to study. I found myself easily remembering the material. I would recommend her to anyone.

Professor Gartland can get side-tracked easily, but when she does, those are the extra credit questions that she puts on the exams. She is a very sweet lady, and the tests are common sense. There is no homework for this course.

Prof Gartland is a sweet lady & a very kind professor. I took her fall of 2016. She lectures the entire time every class. She also gets off topic sometimes but pay attention these are her extra credit questions!! Attendance is not mandatory. She also provides you with study guides for each exam that are basically the exam lol.

shes the nicest professor on campus. she goes out of her way to make sure everyone understands everything clearly and does everything she can to make sure everyone gets an A. she is undeserving of any bad ratings.

Prof. Gartland is super easy going and easy to work with as long as you go to class. She lectures the whole time and there was basically no homework. EASY A

Honestly a really nice lady, the subject matter was just boring to me most of the time. Did have some interesting conversations as a class though, mostly current events.

Professor Gartland was amazing. Many students did not enjoy her teaching style and I am certain that is because they were not putting in the work and paying attention. Her lectures are an 10/10 and she will always keep you interested in the topic. I believe I found her class to be very easy because of how well she can teach. Strongly recommend!
