She is one of the most helpful teachers you will ever meet.
Think your doing good in her class until you get your final grades. Bad teacher
Goes off on tangents
she doesn't know how to clearly present information to students effectively
Feel free to bring tylenol or any other sort of pain reliever to class if you expect to pay attention the whole time. She is the one person that can talk without changing the tone of her voice. Scary part the tone would make dogs howl.
Very difficult to understand. And cold.
Decent Prof. She makes economics interesting and kinda fun. If you don't understand something, just ask and she'll rephrase it. She's foreign...but not hard to understand.
I didnt understand a single word she said. For the longest time I thought she was saying farm, but she was really saying Firm. Also she has to be one of the most boring professors I have ever had.
ENGLISH...DO YOU SPEAK IT?
The tests don't reflect your knowledge. She's a good teacher, but she can't give tests that represent her teachings.
She's not that difficult to understand and she always cracks me up. The quizzes are usually easy too. She's is not as bad as everyone is saying.
I think everyone that wrote she was a bad teacher probally never showed up for class.....You get extra credit for coming to class and the quizes are pretty easy. The tests are a little challenging but she ends up curving them. I had her for both 201 and 2
Lectures contain definitions alone, no examples of how anything works or can be used. Learned more from reviewing quizes in class than in lectures before the quizes. Uses trick questions on tests and quizes. Very difficult to get an A. Very scattered!
Doesn't understand sutdents questions. If clarity could be compared to vision...she would be blind!
She is the funniest little Indian woman... if you go to class and pay attention, it's easy. she gives extra credit and curves everything. doesn't overload students with work and always lets the class out early
Very hard to understand.... Puts you on the spot... I don't recomend her...
To put it blunt she is not a good teacher.
WHOEVER WROTE THE COMMENTS ON HER ENGLISH IS IGNORANT. YOU CAN UNDERSTAND HER JUST FINE IF YOU JUST LISTEN THE **** UP INSTEAD OF JUDGING HER ENGLISH. WHAT'S MORE IGNORANT? SHE SPEAKS MORE THAN ONE LANGUAGE OR THAT YOU CAN'T LEARN TO UNDERSTAND HER AC
WaRiNiNg! Her english is not the problem. It is her teaching! She throws a bunch of terms at you & expects you to apply them. The definition of cost push inflation does not show me how to draw a graph of it and apply it & I never skipped a class
shes realy not as bad as everyone thinks. she does trick you on exams but the quizes are easy, and she gives extra credit on exams and if you show up. great teacher if you want to major in economics.
Awful. Teaches with back to class entire time. Leaves students in the dust. Then blames you for not understanding. Tests are terrible, do not resemble Homework at all. Don't waste time studying, cause it doesn't help.
At the beginning, i thought she was hard because she requires you read a lot and study a lot to understand the material that she is trying to make you understand. Quiz and test is easy if you put afford into it.
You really need to TINK about taking this prof. you'll know what I mean if you do.....
Talks down to students, trys to make you feel stupid. Tests are there to trip you up, not test your knowledge of the subject material.
Very hard to understand, couldn't even understand her when she called my name during attendance. Her teaching style is very ineffective you will leave class scratching your head. Deviates from what the book teaches so even reading the book won't save u!
She is a good professor. Once you get used to the accent it is not hard to understand her at all. She is not easy, so oh no you might have to study and try. You actually have an understanding of economics that you will remember.

Dr. Basu can be very easy to understand if you try to. She is also very funny, once you get used to her. The class is simple, just go to class and take good notes.
Do not take her at any costs. She is hard to understand not just language wise but just in general.
i cannot say that dr. basu is incompetent. however, students who have little background in economics may find her lectures difficult to follow. her teaching style is dry, robotic, and almost completely devoid of anecdotes and real-life examples.
I got an A, but it was difficult to understand what she is asking on tests and quizes. She will belittle students she thinks are not trying hard enough.
she does not speak very clearly, the class is boring and she says she going to do things one way and then changes them in the middle of the course when everyone was doing well with the original plan
She changes her mind all of the time. She also does the problems incorrectly then realizes it later. She gives bad notes and says the wronge things a lot. A student had to show her she was teaching it wronge. STAY AWAY
She is crazy...Good luck trying to understand her. Completely discouraged me from even trying. Tests are completely irrelevant to anything learned in class or in the text.
WOW...thats the only word that comes to mind. I dont think ive picked up on one thing she has said...as a matter of fact, i honestly feel more stupid after getting out of that class....wow
Basu was the worse prof I've ever had. I went to her office for help and she REFUSED to help me because I hadn't read 1 out of 13 chapters for a test! I went to class everday, couldnt understand her, tried to take notes and only got a D+. Do NOT take this course with her if avoidable!
Prime example of why foreign people are viewed as idiots. Her thick accent and stubborn nature (refusing to admit when she's wrong) managed to shoot my grade in the face. Her "extra credit" is not extra at all since she doesn't count it. If you get a 7 and 2 EC...you really only got a 7. Horrible.
If you have her GET OUT NOW!! She is a horrible teacher which gets confused very easy. She isn't able to answer your questions, and just goes on with the lecture. If you start to daze off at all, you will think she is talking in a different language. Very hard class to pass with a good grade.
This is a f* nightmare. I don't understand a word she is saying. Dr. Basu if you are reading this, you should seriously take some English classes and work on your accent. Nobody answers your questions, cause nobody understands what the hell are you asking. Worst prof EVER!
Wow, listenin to this website... I thought that maybe it was just certain people that didn't like her, but it's not.... it's everyone.
She kept writing on my homeworks that I will fail the class. I had to contact the CBA dean to address her grading policy. She is the only teaching EC0 372, so there is no way out. Good luck, you'll need it.
sometimes doesn't speak clearly. says mmmmm between words.
she is a teible teacher, she would put things on the test and have them answered with a true but have the same question on a previous quiz answered true. if you have her get out now.
This subject matter would be much more interesting if she showed interest in teaching it. She comes to class every day with a downer look about her, which doesn't really start the class off to a good start. She is rude to students, refuses to correct herself, and uses "Apples" for every example. BAD
Hardest class ever, she doesn’t not teach econ well at all. I am one of those people that doesn’t usually listen to this site, but this time everyone is right. She is very unclear on almost everything. She tries to be helpful but in the end will completely confuses the whole class. The tests are not easy, actually it seems that they are impossible
Every student in the class could teach it better than she did. SHE SHOULD NOT BE TEACHING!
I was really worried after reading this website but the class was not that bad. You do have to go to class every day and take notes but it's not a hard class. There is no reason why people shouldn't get a B. She really wants to to do good and succeed.
To all the people who claim she is ridiculously hard, I am sure its because you DONT attend class! She gives enough extra credit, teaches quite well and is a wonderful lady! There is no reason not to succeed---HIGHLY recommended from a student who hated econ before this...
What teacher begs students for good ratings? What teacher asks students to come to this site to write good ratings? Perhaps she wouldn't have to beg if she would actually teach the course. I wouldn't trust her teaching a bunch of 10 year olds how to read. Doesn't listen, "always right", AVOID AVOID
she sucks!
Bad news. Avoid at all costs. SO UNCLEAR. She practically begged me to come put a positive post on here but I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight knowing I steered people wrong. Nice lady, bad professor.
I really thought about dropping this class. She acts like the class is going to be really hard but its not.I decided not to and I am glad. She is willing to help you any time and she really enjoys when anyone talks to her. She offers XTRA credit and for every ETRA credit pt you get it is a half of % point on your final grade. Her exams are easy!
Had this class in the Fall of '01 Poor teaching skills and a very thick accent make for a difficult class.
She is hard to understand at times, but does everything she can to make sure students know the material. Offers extra credit and makes herself available to students with questions. The class is not as bad as her rating implies.
This is a horrible situation for a student that needs this class. It's hard to understand what she is saying let alone understand her lectures. Deviates from the textbook, she claims her answer is right and the textbook is wrong yet she tells her students to read the chapters. Awful teacher, the university should really do something.
A very BAD teacher. I had her a couple years ago and seeing her name makes me cringe. You cannot understand a word she says so its pretty useless. If you want to pass then take ANOTHER teacher.
If you can get past her accent, which is understandable if you pay close attention. I would always ask her to repeat herself if I didn't understand. She's a funny prof. her tests are easy just do the review and the questions are exactly what's on the review test. She does have daily quizes, those are what's hurting my grade, they are out of 4 pt
TERRIBLE! She was very rude every time I asked a question in class. I had an A on every test/quiz/assignment, until grades came out and I ended up with a C -. I e-mailed her and asked why, and she said because she didn't have a score for me for an exam. She had a sign in sheet that I had signed, and she said I must've gotten a 0! BAD!!
willing to help. wants you to learn. but honestly the MOST UNORGANIZED professor I've had. Fair grader. daily quizzes. test questions STRAIGHT from study guides - exact questions and answers.
A very nice person. However! This class was my biggest headache. daily quizes so you had to attend class, and they were only 3 or 4 questions so if you missed one it was a C or a D! Group project that will be a disaster if you dont have a responsible group and leader. IF you take this class take it seriously and you'll be fine.
Dr. Basu is a great professor! She teaches the material very methodically and completely. If you do your homework and pay attention in class, you should have no trouble.
Attendence is not mandatory, but i recommended going bc she gives a lot of info in class and does not use blackboard
She gives you the answers to the tests. If you can't do well in her class, then you have bigger problems than a low GPA.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE if you actually want to learn anything about economics. You can't understand a word this lady says and she talks at the board the whole class period. Every homework she gives out has the answers but they are usually the WRONG ANSWERS. She spends most of class trying to figure out her mistakes.
(Online Eco 201) This class is very difficult. Dr. Basu would often disappear for over a month without any of us being able to get a hold of her. She doesn't respond to emails. Also, she has poor english grammar and her tests questions are hard to understand. If you like to do well, I would not recommend this class.
Its hard to understand her but as long as you do the homework and pay attention and ask questions you'll be fine
Shes hard to understand at times and she rewords key terms in her own words, I'm not sure why, it doesn't benefit anyone but as long as you keep your book out and follow along during lectures you will do fine. Exam questions come from homework which she posts the answer to on blackboard after the due date and exams 80% of grade so its not too hard.
Very hard to understand. But easy class. Points are given only off homework and 2 exams. Exam questions are directly off homework. If you can memorize youll be fine.
not very hard class, some basic math needed. If you can deal with some international issue and knowing whatever is in the class and text book, then you will be just fine!
Super boring class. Hard to understand her. VERY easy exams, though, which are copied and pasted from the homework. Memorization is mandatory if you want to do well.
Shes a nice lady, but its hard to understand her at first. The exams come straight off the homework and gives you a lot of material before the exam to study. You can get a good grade, just not sure if you'll learn a lot.
On the first day, I thought about switching to a different section but it wasn't as bad as I thought. She encourages students to come to her for help although the way she explains things is hard to understand sometimes. If you are having trouble in this class, form a study group or sign up for a tutor (it's free, just sign up in the UC).
Professor Basu is getting a lot of criticism which I don't think she deserves. If you go to her office hours for homework, she'll give you the answers. She drops the lowest HW score, anyway. The exams are easy and she does a lot of prep for them. She's not the easiest to understand, but the class notes help a lot. I'd highly recommend her.
Other than not being able to understand everything she says, I really like her. She will answer any question you have, as well as make up different examples of the same type of problem until you understand. Not too much homework, exam questions are straight from it though so do it! Really good at preparing you for tests.
Learned the first week, the structure of the class does not follow the chapters in the book. READ the lecture notes and then read the chapters. Purchase Vango Notes from Audible to help study for the test. participate in Chat review for the test - Extra Credit. Homework questions prepare well for the test. Learn equations/terms Very nice!
Basu is a VERY helpful teacher. If you go to her office hours for help with the homework she pretty much does it for you. Micro is a hard class in general but if you go to class and read her lectures on BB it will be an easy B. I didnt really use the book but i suggest it because you will need it sometimes.
Easiness1 Helpfulness1 Clarity1 Rater Interest4 (Online Eco 201) Dr. Basu would often disappear for over a month without any of us being able to get a hold of her. She doesn't respond to emails. Also, she has poor english grammar and her tests questions are hard to understand. If you like to do well, I would not recommend this class.
Really easy prof. As long as you come on the days tests and homework are do this is an easy A. She puts everything online. She has some weird quirks and is sometimes hard to understand but overall shes easy.
She'll do your homework 4 u if u go to her office hours, but her usefulness stops there. Her examples are aweful and the way she does extra credit hurts your grade. If she did the extra credit like everyone else I would have an A, but I have a C. Good luck figuring out her examples I had to teach myself everything.Exam questions r off the homework.
Basu is awesome! Idk why so many ppl here say they don't like her. Getting a good grade here is easy. Go to class, pay attention, do your assignments, and study for an hour for each test. She is clear and will answer anything you ask her. Will do homework with you. Gives TONS of extra credit and study guide. She WAY more helpful than she should be.
Professor Basu is very kind, and easy-going. Her office hour is open to everyone, you'd like to discuss your economic story with her.
Basu is a terrible professor!! She knows nothing about how deliver lectures.Has poor concepts, makes a lot of blunders in the class. Exams are very difficult. Exam Contents are mostly from out of her lectures and she is very harsh about grading. A poor professor!!!
Dr. Basu is knowledgable, but her exams particularly the final are way too hard. She does not provide adequate review materials before the exams, the homework is tedious and meaningless and she is a very strict grader. Overall this class was a detriment to my college career and has made me apprehensive about pursuing a graduate degree in economics.
There are only five homework assignments in her class along with three exams. They are not very hard at all and she offers a ton of extra credit to help with grades! Provide more than enough material for exams and grades the class very easily. I highly reccomend taking her!
This was a disastor of a class. I went to almost every lecture and they were useless. She is very hard to understand and her test and homework questions can be confusing. Try to stay away from this teacher. Might as well teach yourself from the textbook.
Could not understand a word she said so I never went to class. Grades harshly on homework. Attendance isn't mandatory. Puts notes up online but a lot of graphs for them she will only put up on the board. Posts study guides for exams online
Lectures never made sense! She frequently stumbled or made mistakes that she had to correct. The homeworks are easy because she does them for you in her office hours, but the tests are impossible because you never understand what she said in class.
This is NOT an easy class. However, the professor is incredibly helpful. GO TO OFFICE HOURS. She will hand you all of the answers and be very kind and helpful. Her accent can be a bit hard to understand at first. Great class, highly recommend. Work hard and you will do great.
It was a hard subject but bass tried to make it easy. She's really nice just a little hard to understand. Her quizzes weren't too challenging and the homework grades really help!!! id recommend her
Basu is very hard to understand, she also types how she talks, which is also hard to understand. She is very sweet and helpful, but overall economics is a hard subject, we only have5 homework assignments and 3 exams but make sure you try your hardest on them for they are all of the points, DO ALL OF THE EXTRA CREDIT! I'm hoping to finish with a B.
Very nice professor. She is indian but I didn't have a hard time understanding her. Class is soley based off of tests and homework. Test questions come right off of the homework. I would definitely recommend her.
Very confusing, her notes that she puts online make the class harder than it should be. Never take her, ever.
She is a very helpful teacher, i would strongly suggest you go to her office hours every week to go over the homework with her and that will almost guarantee an A in her class. Exams are same questions from the homework.
Great Professor easiest stuff ever just pay attention
She cant teach after chapter 12. Plus, we had very bad final exam.
She was super nice and very easy. The exams are based off of your homework and quizzes. She also offers a ton of extra credit.
Not a lot of work for a Econ class. 5 hw assignments and three exams. Hard to understand but if you are paying attention you can understand her. She is a sweet lady who enjoys what she does
Absolutely loved this professor. She explained things clearly in her lecture despite her accent. Provides a lot of extra credit and tests come straight from the homework. She cracks jokes and makes class enjoyable. Very easy to get an A if you do the homework and go to lectures but you can easily pass without attending class!
You'll get 5 homework assignments and 2 tests all semester, plus the final. While she drops the lowest homework score, they all still matter, and you should put effort into the questions to make sure they're right, or your grade will plummet. Tests and Homework are multiple choice, and short answer. Other than that, nice teacher who knows her stuff
As long as you follow the class lecture and listen to her you will do fine. She makes lecture notes for each day to print off. If you read through them and follow along with the class you'll be straight. The answers to the homework are in each packet It's not a very hard class, and she makes it enjoyable and she cracks funny on liners a lot.
Dr. Basu was odd. She was funny, but her lectures only went about 30 minutes, then you're done. She stutters a lot, and has a "Hard accent" but its easy to understand, unlike most. Everyday printed lectures, 3 tests, 5 hw's, go to office hours, and receive 100's on them. Exams are iffy lots of graphs. EC for hw's. Kinda rude, messes up grades alot
Failed 10 out of 15 students in the program for no apparent reason, in the last lecture instead of giving review of the exam she gave lecturing of how students are not qualified for the program, she gave the exam earlier to the exam week of four days, some students had A before the final exam then they got F.
This was the worst professor I have ever had to deal with. She scheduled an exam over spring break which basically made me fail the class. She does not make herself clear on an online format. She does not respond to emails and ignores them. Also, beware that she might change the syllabus mid semester. Stay away from her, you will fail.
So hard to understand with her accent. When you ask for help it seems to be more confusing. Not only did everything seem disorganized but if you get one bad grade on homework or exam then good luck getting a good grade. There is little grading criteria and hard to earn points back. Worst professor I've had yet.
She is very nice and considerate of her students. She does have a bit of an accent but you get used to it. She lets you use your phone on the exams so take pictures of previous homeworks and you'll be fine. Lectures are quite heavy but you get out early. She also bumps your grade up a lot at the end if you've showed up for class everytime.
The class is made up of 5 homework assignments and 2 exams and a final. The exams are based off the homework so study the homework and you will do good. Extra credit is provided on all homework assignments and exams. I have over 30 extra credit point. GO TO OFFICE HOURS SHE WILL GIVE YOU ANSWERS!
This class was rough. It was in the online format so you're basically teaching yourself except for a few online videos that she posts. The class had 6 quizzes that you took at home and then 4 exams that are proctored. That's your grade plus some extra credit. I would not reccommend taking this course unless you have prior knowledge of Economics.
She gets easier to understand as you are in the class. Not sure what really happened in the class but the final was wayy harder than any of the tests. She lets you use your phone on tests so take pictures of notes and homework and you will be fine. She takes attendance but ends class early. easy enough with little work.
Basu was never available to access for her students and she is not easy to speak with at all. She grades hard and only offers extra credit for certain situations. Very unfair and unprofessional teacher.
Dr. Basu was hard to understand at times, but she was funny and is always there for you. Out of all of the Econ classes offered to me, I heard that the Econ 203 offers through her is the easiest.
Very difficult material on the way that she teaches it. I learned the most by working with other student on the reviews/assignments together and studying. Shes hard to understand but shes actually pretty funny
Okay the only negative about her is her accent, but for this class its not really a problem. She is an extremely caring person and will make SURE you know it before you leave, is available all the time, and gives lots of extra credit/second chances. She goes very slowly, no textbook required, 5 HW assignments, midterm/final are slightly difficult
Her accent was a huge communication barrier for me, and made it hard to understand her. She seemed a little all over the place. However, she is very nice and caring and happy to help those who need it. Helps to read before class to understand the concept.
She has a very heavy accent, which can make it difficult. On the occasions I asked for clarification for her to speak slower or repeat herself, she refused to do so. I personally didn't have a positive experience with her. She was difficult with my class answering questions and being snippy. No extra credit, confusing emails. Had to teach myself.
This is actually the worst professor I have ever had in both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. This course is taken by adults already in their careers and she treated us like illiterate children. Did not reply to emails, provided little to no feedback on assignments and my grades got worse as the course progressed. AVOID HAVING THIS PROFESSOR.
Avoid this professor at all costs. Professor provides nothing to the class. She gives you an awful textbook to read and all the quizzes, final exam, and power points are just copied right from the Textbook - Professor doesn't create a single thing to help. Feedback given was vague and unhelp, most times zero feedback even given on papers.
I did not have the best experience with Professor Basu. She does have an accent (which isn't a problem), but she never turned her camera on once. This made it even harder to understand her because I couldn't read her lips. She assigned two short quizzes per week which were pretty easy. Lecture heavy. Overall, I didn't learn much from this class.
VERY poor professor. She only uses textbook provided material and CLEARLY makes this class as low input as possible. She get's angry if you email her at all and is disrespectful when you ask for simple clarification (I'm assuming because she has some weird inferiority complex). Avoid this professor if at all possible. Awful instructor.
Professor Basu was kind and cared about her students. However, she is very unorganized and tends to not thoroughly explain concepts. She often has unrealistic expectations for her student's knowledge on the subject and I ended up teaching myself most of the material. I would not recommend her.
Hard to understand and doesn't care about the students. Rude in emails.
Heavy Language barrier, just goes up on the board and starts writing with no explanation. Unclear of anything that is due or required to do. By far the worst professor you could have for a math related class. DO NOT TAKE
She is very nice, sometimes hard to understand. In this class you will have one group project at the end of the year, 2 exams that are lockdown browser, and a weekly quiz that are mostly on chegg. Overall she was decent, just the lectures were boring and it was hard to focus.
Nice professor, but very hard to understand. The lectures are very hard to follow along with. It is almost like she just goes up to the board and does example problems expecting you to understand what she is doing. She gives no explanation to the steps for anything or why the answers are what they are. Exams are very hard and are lockdown.
Is she a good professor? No. This class had such a heavy language barrier that it made me think I was racist. Class consists of lectures. All of the exams and quiz answers are on chegg. Every bit. I got a garbage grade since I never showed up. Major part of your grade is attendance. If you cared like 10% more than I did, easy B or A. Just show up.
Attendance mandatory, that's fine just go to class. But she is incredibly rude.not possible to get better than a b+ in her class with the way it is weighted. Unless you do well on the exams which are quite difficult and the types of questions are usually not discussed in class. Exams are 65 percent of grade and attendance 25. Another 10 is quizes
Hard to understand. My class was online but it was overall very difficult. The exams were hard and if you didn't put in serious work beforehand your going to struggle on the exams.
Doesn't respond to emails, says will only answer questions if you go to the next class. Attendance is mandatory. She filled in for our professor when he left mid-semester. Tried to fail me for missing 1 assignment, I had to argue my case to the Dean; provided all emails and evidence and was granted my actual grade. Horrible prof. Do not recommend!
Professor Basu was a harsh grader, poor communicator, and not very passionate about economics. She made no effort to check in with the class and was often hard to reach and replies were brief. It seemed that many students had a hard time understanding the material. Overall, Basu lacked communication skills and wasn't very helpful when needed.
Dr. Basu is a really specific and tough grader. Nothing is ever good enough and she doesn't really tell you how to improve. She takes points off for no clear reason and if she does explain, I often disagree with her reasoning. That being said, the class was very easy and straightforward so I wouldn't let the professor deter you too much.
I had a good experience with this class. What I loved about her is that she provided videos to help explain more complex topics, she was AMAZING at responding to e-mails and she even met with me online on a Saturday afternoon to make sure I understood a topic that I was struggling with (she even provided me with copies of everything she used).
What I disliked the most was how hard group projects were. She would take points away for no reason, and it was impossible to get in touch w/ group members (being an online class), which in return hurt your grade. One of our members didn't follow the directions which made everyone in our group fail the project. She wasn't understanding at all.
This online course was not bad at all. 6 self practice exams, 6 quizzes, 4 group projects (short), 4 exams online with only the last one procotred. I did not like how there was group projects in an online summer class. Trying to meet with a group of 6 while most of us worked at different times was difficult. Overall exams and quizzes weren't bad.
She is overall a bad professor. You can't understand a word that she says. She also is very rude in emails. Not only that she said in class "vote for Kamala, if not exchange students will get deported". I found this very inappropriate for class, and for a professor to say. I recommend changing if you have her!
A simple course turned sour. Do not take it. There are too many tests and group projects, and it becomes a nuisance pretty fast. Be ready to pay attention because her accent is heavy. If you do not, trust me: she will know and will rant for a good amount of time in response to her frustration.
Professor Basu has a very specific grading style. While the class content is straightforward, her feedback can be unclear. Using Unstuck ai and the free textbook helped me prepare, but attending lectures is a must.
Mrs. Basu was very hard to understand at times during her lecture, but overall the class was very easy. Everything except the final exam you could use your notes and online to get answers, so it was fairly easy to get a good grade. Attendance is mandatory. Group projects are the worse, super tough grader and that is something to be aware of.
Very hard to understand sometimes with a heavy accent. Group projects that she doesn't really explain and grades them harshly. All assignments online so it was pretty straight forward and easy. Attendance is EXTREMELY mandatory.
Dr. Basu is a caring professor, but she is very hard to understand due to a heavy accent which makes some lectures challenging. Every assignment is online, you can use your resources for the quizzes, which makes it easy to get a decent grade. Attendance is mandatory. The group projects were also graded really hard for no reason.
She's very difficult to please with group projects. Every class meeting was heavy lectures, sometimes we got out early. She kind of expected you to read her lecture before class and understand everything about the topic. She did make every quiz/exam online which was nice. I'd try and get a different professor for this class if you can.
Worst professor I've ever had. She yells at the class, doesn't teach well, takes off points for no reason and doesn't explain, and she's impossible to reach outside of class. You will be scared to ask questions by the middle of the semester. Do not take this course from her, choose someone else at all costs
Most assignments were online so those were easy but the groupwork was very difficult. She gave very few instructions and graded harshly. She is also hard to reach outside of class and she is very strict about attendance. I didn't learn anything from this class and I would not take her class again.
My group turned in a project that was very good and answered the question. Professor Basu gave us a C- because our grammar was bad. Professor Basu only responded to emails if it was formatted the way she liked or she would not respond, even if it was very important. She was a horrible professor, take someone else if you can.
Bc I don't understand/am not good economics this course was challenging. Dr. Basu is kind of a tough grader/confusing lecturer but if you participate in class(at least try)and go to office hours, she'll be more understanding and wants to help you. Pay attention and take notes. She lowkey got a little political but nothing worth getting upset over.
