good teacher but his accent is very bad. overall he is a good guy and very funny. Open book test and homework every week.
Is a overall good teacher, kno's the material and explains it well, his accent is confusing at times but overall can be understood
Good job...
Kura is a good teacher and is more than willing to supply outside help if you are struggling with his class. BUT he does use a teaching assistant every semester and our TA was not that specific. He just read from the slides.
Good Teacher Likes what he does
Dr Kura is very helpful not only inside but also outside the classroom. He is trying to teach you not to trick you. He emphasizes what is important and expects you to read some things on your own.
Good Professor. Shows consideration and cares about the students. It's not just a paycheck in his eyes. If you have the TA, it may require a different rating.
Very good teacher.
He really wants students to be interested in the subject, and often promotes environmental engineering as a good profession. However, he used TA's and guest speakers for 80% of the classes, which makes it difficult for those who like fluency and consistency in the lectures.
He is passionate about environmental engineering and does what he can to enthuse students about going into his field. However, two TA's and a few guest speakers taught about 80% of the classes making it difficult for those who like fluidity and consistency with the lectures.
Easy-going, helpful, straight forward. For the tests, study the slides posted on blackboard.
Dr. Kura is very enthusiastic about his teaching. He gets very excited with the material taught and the researches he does. He is a well know researcher in the enviromental field. If you have interests in eviromental, he is the professor to get to know.
Dr. Kura is an excellent professor who really cares about his students. He loves to talk about his research and relate what we are learning to what is actually happening out in the world. Overall a genuine, caring professor, and fun to talk to.
AWESOME PROFESSOR!!
Lectures are directly from the textbook, and so are tests. Strong accent, but reasonably good English.
Dr. Kura is a great teacher who is always willing to help his students. I have gone to him for help many times and I was always satisfied. He only taught for a few lectures and has his TA's teach for the rest, but they also did a quality job teaching.
Nice guy but his theory tests are kind of tricky. Make sure you read the book very well.
Great guy
Really helpfull and excited to teach, found tests to be tricky
Good teacher, loves his work. His test are in two parts, theory and numericals. Must read the book and understand the material.
A very good professor!
Great professor! Make sure you know your theory very well.
I felt the slides were well presented and helpful. Your manner of teaching also complemented the slides. However, when Amit taught, I felt like he was just reading the slides (which I already do for myself). This was frustrating. It felt unnecessary to be in class, even though attendance was required. Actual labs would have been nice.
Did not teach through the semester, instead had a TA which was clear for any student. Uses textbook for theory exam. Exams might be tricky for people who only skim through slides, however, if you actually read and understand you will do good. Lectures are disorganized, he jumps through the chapters within the semester. Strong accent, understandable
He uses a grad student to do most of the teaching.
he is very cool and hard worker in all the time. very deservative, energetic, helpful and dynamic.
Dr Kura is very knowledgable and passionate in Environmental Engineering. He always asks to make sure that everyone understands the basic concepts of the course. His tests are relavent the class notes and homework. And his grading is fair. I strongly advise choosing hime as an instructor.
Dr. Kura is very enthusiastic about this subject as well as being very knowledgable. He is willing to help outside of class and is concerned about your progress in the course. He encourages questions because he really wants you to understand the information.
Great Teacher!!!
Dr. Kura is a great teacher and VERY knowledgeable, and it shows in his lectures. He always ask if you have any questions before moving on because he wants you to understand the material.
Enthusiastic about his work, really wants his students to understand what he teaches.
He is a very helpful professor focused on teaching the parts of the course we are going to use when we graduate.
Given Dr. Kura's expertise and relative teaching skills, not only have my knowledge in the field of environmental engineering evolved, but so did my interest. He truly demonstrated a mastery of educating a class, all the while delivering an on-point, comprehensive method for that, I'm truly grateful.
Dr. Kura, along with his assistants, Suruchi Verma and Christopher Blazo have truly exemplified the very meaning of quality assured teaching. Not only have I completed this course with a greater sense of knowing in the field of environmental engineering, but my interest peaked as well. I'm happy to note that this class reinvigorated my interest.
Dr. Kura skipped class for over a month to go to India. He used 2 TA's one for the lab and the other for lecture. The grading is based on a 7 pt scale. There is a 5 paper technical paper. when Dr. Kura did teach his lectures where very long. The test is 2 parts short answer and then open book problem solving. the short answer part can be tricky.
Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen, Here we have a professor rating for Dr. Kura. Great teacher, Dr, kura knows his material and wants all of his students to know it as well as him. RECOMMENDED
Had assistant teach class most of the time
Overall, this is a passable class. Kura does not always teach. Mostly a TA teaches the class and all lectures come from Powerpoint slides. The lab, however, has no clear guidelines as to what needs to be included in the reports and it is not easy to get perfect scores.
This class involves A LOT of homework, but the tests are not too hard. The lab report requirements are not clearly stated which makes it hard to get As on them.
He is a good professor however he isnt there all the time. objective of the course and the system is clear since the beginning
Professor Kura was extremely enthusiastic, kept the students interested, and helped each student without question.
Not to hard, do the work and you will get a good grade
Dr. Kura shows slide shows however explains everything in detail on the board. The classes are usually pretty long. Before test he tries to have a review day to highlight the key points which is very helpful.
Dr Kura is enthusiastic and helpful. The tests were not easy but you learn what you need to know.
Knows topics very well but uses powerpoint slides. Do the homework and you will be ok.
He tries to help in everything he can, although he uses too much powerpoint slides.
Smart man and employs great TAs. Take this course.
Passionate about his work
I recommend him to other students
His teaching assistant was the one who mainly taught the course. He has a strong accent.
Very flexible teacher, his lectures (though his assistant taught most of the classes) were very well presented. Definitively recommend him.
Power Points are a pain to deal with. Very enthusiastic and helpful person though
good teacher. tests were from the book.
Fairly easy class
Teachibng assistant handled most lectures. Professor's lectures were useful.
Very helpful teacher, super nice. Tests are easy and straight forward
You just need to study hard for the theory part on the exams. Problems, though, are straight forward. He is really nice and willing to help you.
Very nice teacher, but theory portion of tests required in depth knowledge of chapter and didn't always follow the notes given in class. READ ALL THE CHAPTERS IF YOU WANT AN A!!
Study for the test and keep up with the homework's and you'll do good.
Test problems are not too hard and are broken into a theory and problem section. Theory was usually the more difficult section because it involved a good bit of memorization which requires a style of study that most engineering students are not use to. He uses the 7 point scale which makes it a bit harder to get an A but still not a hard class.
This is a lecture and lab combo. Lab and grading handled by the TAs. Kura only handles the lectures when he can make it and relies on power point. You should demand a quiz before every test to get an idea of what will be on it, otherwise you're sunk because there's so much information. The material is easy, and the TAs are helpful.
He is a nice guy and tries to help but honestly we barely saw him in class; his TAs always take care of everything. The fill-in-the-blank part of his exams and quizzes might be tough; his 7-point scale grading system is really frustrating; because with that system 92 is still a B and 82 is still a C etc... Other than that, his labs and hw are easy.
Class was well presented, interesting and fairly easy as long as you study the slides from the lectures
Good Teacher
Dr. Kura is a really nice guy who is always willing to help when he is available. Since there is so much material, one has to keep up with the material but it is very manageable. The only problem with the class is the seven-point scale especially since this is a 4 credit hr class.
study the slides and do the hw and you will be fine.
Great Teacher, Easy Test, nice guru
Start working on sustainability paper when he assigns is (get chances to turn in early for competition). Tests are 2 parts, study hard for part 1, part 2 is straightforward problems from the book. As with all classes, remember to do ALL of the homework.
not too bad
Dr. Kura is amazing.
Dr Kura is a lovely person
A very inspirational professor, will do everything that he can to help the students and be sure that they are ready to get a good job in the future.
This was the best professor I have ever had. Dr. kura makes you really learn the subject. The methodology that he uses to teach gets your attention.
He's the best!
Dr. Kura is an exceptional professor.
Awesome professor
Great professor and person.
He is very good, helps students with necessary things.
This is an online course, so no attendance was necessary. The assignments are not too difficult and he will gladly help you whenever you need it!
He is very nice and interactive with the students. Helps a lot in coursework.
Very good teacher and brings in live examples with the theory. Always helpful
In this class you can learn and understand a lot of Air Quality, see how hazard components can affect the environment and what are the tools to deal with it. I am really happy to take this course!
This is an amazing lecture and Dr. Kura is a really inspirational professor that always give us good feedback and guide us to improve.
Dr. Kura is a well respected professor at UNO and a great one at that. His passion for Air Quality control is honorable and his determination to motivate students makes the course worth taking. Grading is straight-forward so if you do well on the homework's and quizzes, it won't be hard to get an A in this course.
You can definitely tell dr kura has a great passion for his teachings, which makes the class a lot more engaging and fun. There's a lot of opportunities to help your grade and get points, and he always will answer questions. The hybrid style the class was taught in wasn't good though, the online portion felt the same as every other course.
I signed up for a hybrid class not expecting to have to be in class every Wednesday morning at 8:30. But getting to know Dr. Kura has been worth it. He wants his students to succeed, and his passion for the work is contagious. Sometimes his expectations are not fully understood in class, but he e-mails pretty regularly and that helps a lot.
Dr. Kura lectures in his very own way. I find it interesting when he discusses certain topics of the theory of air pollution but the course also involves calculations of air pollution and this can be difficult to understand. But Dr. Kura can usually be found outside of class in his office if you have questions. Easy going and understanding.
Very interesting subject but so many things to learn by oneself with the textbook. The hybrid class with Dr. Kura helps a lots to learn and understand all the theories about Air Quality.
Really educated in his career. Loves air pollution. However, he gives pretty lengthy quizzes that are pretty tough and you have to have photographic/great memory or understanding to pass. He is really sweet and caring and wants to help but can be pretty tough as well.
He wants you to learn and do well in his class. Gives several opportunities for extra credit. Has very clear power point presentations. Quizzes are all short answer.
Dr. Kura is a great professor and you can tell he really wants his students to succeed. Section 1 of test can be difficult so read the textbook, but he gives extra credit opportunities that make up for this. Only complaints are the class wasn't much of a hybrid course as described and there's a paper which is a bit much for an elective
Dr. Kura makes this class more enjoyable and keeps students entertained by simplifying and giving us the opportunity to participate in class. I definitely recommend this class to students who want to work in the environmental field.
Is always willing to help his students and is understanding. Will also do everything to ensure the student understands the material and not just pass the class.
Dr. Kura covers a lot of information, which felt over whelming at first. But he gives you a lot of extra credit and truly cares for his students. It wasn't long until comfortable with the course. He also shows you career possibilities based on the topic he is teaching.
It's a really fun class if you're into environmental engineering. You can do good on test and quiz if you go through the chapter in the book.
