Professor failed entire class. Greater than 50% drop rate by the drop deadline. Avoid at all costs. Horrible accent and if you do not understand then it is your fault and he will not help you.
Speaks fast but a very good teacher!
Tests are damn near impossible. If you looking for a challenge then this is the teacher for you!
A little hard to understand (due to heavy accent), but very good teacher.
Never I repeat NEVER take this teacher. You will regret it. Out of the 55 students about 40 are dropping.
Yes, heavy accent, yes hard tests. Bottom line, if you do ALL of the homework you will do good on the tests. Differentials is not an easy course. He is enthusiastic and enjoys teaching. He does expect you to have Calc and below on your "finger tips&q
If you go to every class, you will not have to buy the book. He is that thorough with his lectures. Very nice guy. His material is hard, but he is an excellent professor. GO TO CLASS if you want to do well! Know your Calc 1,2,& 3!
Do the homework and the tests should be fine, and make sure you go to class!
This guy is horrible. Don't plan on getting out of class on time. He is constantly running late. He yells at you if you ask questions. Wastes a lot of time talking about how behind the class is. Doesnt allow formula sheets. Awful teacher.
Run as fast as you can if you see him walk into your classroom. He is impossible to understand and doesnt make obvious connections needed for folling what is going on in class. Terrible trying to help you, will fail the entire class.
Smart man but can’t convey his thoughts. His accent is understandable; his explanations are not. Make a group and studying together and be prepared for tests that don’t consist of any of the material given for homework. If possible steer clear!

Probably the hardest calc teacher. He does expect you to know everything you've learned in math throuhout the years. You will learn a lot if you try hard enough. If you don't try then you will probably fail. Nice, very enthusiastic and loves teaching.
I dont understand what everyone is complaining about. Im in his class right now, and he is just about the best math teacher i have ever had. All the professors have accents, but his isnt bad. Pretty Easy/ Great Teacher/ Great tests(nothing you havnt seen)
Real easy class, you can get a lot of "brownie" points on the test if you understand the materials.
nice guy, but hard to understand. tests are extremely short -- so a lot of info is crammed into each question. make sure you still remember all your calc 1 and 2 before taking 3 with him!
Brute Force!!!!
I second that "BRUTE FORCE"!!!!
Very good teacher explains everything very well, however the tests come and its nothing about what he's gone over? Tests you on proofs and concepts. Tests are very hard. But he is amusing. I'd recommend someone else.
I swear to god in class he said that Calc was not to be studied in English. He used 30 min explainations to convey what we could have said in 4 words. All-in-all if you study you butt off you can get a decent grade. And go to class. He will notice!
His class is harder than most other math classes, so if you hate math and want an easy class just to fulfil a requirement, stay clear. With that said he shows where everything comes from and explains everything. Awesome class, reccomended for math lovers.
Good teacher, a little hard to understand, but he is a very nice guy. Go to every class if you want to get a decent grade (it will be rewarded). B+ teacher.
EXCELLENT PROFESSOR
great prof, funny, energetic, very helpful. Goes over HW and helps in office hrs and class. Cant ask for more then that.
Incredibly funny!!! but hard to understand wat he says. didnt know what he was saying till the last few weeks of school. such as the "everbody got ahold of that" phrase he used the whole semester. didnt matter much since his tests were a cake walk. Recommened him to anyone for a class or to walk in & laugh at during his lectures. EASY A

great teacher...will teach the essentials and tests accordingly...nothing tricky with the exams...all in all a great teacher
Goes over notes that are in the beginning of the sections, so it's pointless to take notes. He takes attendance which he uses at the end to possibly boost your grade if you are borderline. He is very helpful Take the time to go to his office...he will notice you. Test are basically the even problems from the book. Very straight forward...
This is one of the best math teachers I have ever had. I had him for calc 3 and now for diff. eq. He's hilarious, really good at math, and will push you to do your best. Overall great guy.
Very enthusiastic and funny. Hard to understand at first but you get used to it. Doesn't teach out of the book so it can be confusing if you try to look it up. If you do the hw on time and understand it, the tests are easy. Very helpful but hard to follow in class. I learned diff eq in the math lab because I couldn't follow. DO THE HW.
hmmm what 2 say....absolutley the worst professor on the face of this earth. Don't think he's EVER taught calc 1 and u would think he could explain NOOO he can't! When u are confused he seems 2 get angry and doesn't claify. Tests are quite challenging not impossible but almost. Half the class dropped out & the other half except for 1 is failing
I had to fight for my C, but I learned so, so much. The class was very hard for me but also very rewarding. Unless you're a math genius, you need to do all homework meticulously and study alot. But you'll learn alot and he'll help you out if he knows you're working hard and grasping the material. He's hilarious and keeps you laughing!
One of the best prof. at UCF. Enthusiastic and funny. tries not to make the class boring. Also very helpful if you go to his office hours. Test are straight from the home work with variations in numbers. If you get him, be happy you did.
Had him for Calc 2 and Calc 3. Best math professor I've had. He really cares about your grade.
Had him for CAL 2, had to withdrawl. If you take him expect the class to go at a fast pace. His classes are somewhat entertaining, with his many metaphors of math with disney movies and past experiences. But I recommend you fully do the homework plus more. You have to make this you top priority class.
Great teacher, but really difficult class. He protests his test are easy, but... they aren't at all. Really enthusiastic though and likes to help out his students. If you take the class plan to work very hard.
The best calc teacher I've ever had...he is hilarious
Great Teacher but very hard. Tests were almost impossible to get good grades on because he'd pull that one question from a section that you didn't do. However, if you want an interesting teacher and want to be challenged, he is the way to go.
He's a good professor; however, he would go on these unrelated stories that would seem to last forever. EXTREMELY ANNOYING. His tests are somewhat challenging; if you practice, practice, practice, you should be fine. Beware: he has a thick Indian accent that is at times hard to understand.
AVOID!! I have taken advanced calculus and DE. Figured this matrix class would be a joke because of my math knowledge. WRONG!! He only grades on tests but do the tons and tons of HW he gives because his tests are about knowing specific ways of solving a problem. Example: 4 question test had all correct answers. But not the right method. Got 25/100.
His thick accent is really hard to pick up at times, but once you get past that this class is fine. DO THE HOMEWORK. I cannot stress that enough. As long as you do you will be fine on tests. Also, he works with you individually and always added points back for just explaining what was going through my mind. Take him if you are responsible.
Dr. Sen is a challenging teacher, probably one of the hardest in the math department. If you think you are excellent at math and want to be put to the test, take Dr. Sen. He has crazy stories and high energy teaching, this is one Professor who will always say Hi and extend his courtesy during office hours. Great Professor hands down.
Dr. Sen's Applied Math I class is basically an introduction to Calculus of Variations, Strum-Louivlle Theory, Metric stuff, and Intergral Equations... ON CRACK! He is so energetic and so funny! Unfortunately, I'm barely passing because his homework and tests are just out of control ridiculous.. and I think I have the 2nd highest grade in the class.
Differential Equations course. Extremely challenging content. Dr Sen was consistently available even outside of normal office hours.
Great "entertainer" (professor). Straightforward "treats" (tests). Helpful "goodies" (homework). Useful "show" (lecture). This professor uses a lot of expressions and colloquial terms to explain the material. Very enthusiastic teacher and know what he's doing. Office hours are useful and plenty. Tests come pretty much from the homework.
Dr. Sen is a great professor, he will be sure to keep you engaged during class. His class pace is consistent and steady, however make sure that you know your Calc II VERY VERY well. His hw isn't graded, but make sure you practice. If you do the hw and ask for help (if you get stuck) you will do great in his class!
4 tests and a final, all of which are easy if you prepare by doing his "goodies" worksheets. Intelligent, engaging and made class want to come to class. Ended up with an A in the class, and the average was higher than most DE classes.
He is a wonderful guy. He's a little tough, but he gives partial credit and is always willing to help you. He has worksheets and the tests are similar to the worksheets. I recommend him.
I LOVE HIM. If you can take him for any and all classes that you have I would suggest it. He is a little hard to understand but you'll catch on right away. He is extremely funny and provides worksheets for everything. he is willing to help you until you understand completely. partial credit is awesome and i just say take him if you can.
Took this class in the Fall and I deeply regret it. His constant repeat of the phrase "It's Calc 2!" is very redundant. He tries his best to explain things so the students understand but it does not matter, as the tests are incredibly overbearing and hard. Office hours he makes you look like you know nothing and can be a pain. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Great instructor, can be difficult to understand at times and forces the student to really know the material. Office hours are very helpful, as he can go over HW problems (which are very similar to exam problems) and answer additional questions. Students can get discouraged easily by his fast pace or accent, but he really cares about his students.
Only take him if you are a math genius and received A's in Calc1-3 and ODE1. Otherwise, you will greatly struggle. He's funny, but not very helpful or interested in your understanding the material unless you are one of the smarter students in class.
Dr. Sens is funny at times and very charismatic. However, as a professor, he is unorganized and gives out little help unless you're one of the brighter students in class. He does not really care for your understanding of the material and relying on the textbooks he assigns (two of them) is useless because he didn't follow either of them.
Oh, Dr. Sen. I've never learned so much from a professor than I have with him (in two different courses). You -will- learn the material, and you'll probably perform poorly on a test along the way. But, you'll be fine. Make sure you put in your 9 hours of time outside of class. Difficult, but so rewarding.
3 tests for the entire year, sounds good, except the tests are the hardest thing ever. add this to no homework grade, and no test forgiveness, and you have a recipe for failure.
Terrible teacher, failed everybody on the first test to the point where it is either fail the course or withdraw
Hardest class I've ever taken. Professor is hard to understand, does not teach the material. Does not explain why or how, and never gives clear answers. Assigns ungraded homework. Your grade is 3 super hard tests. That's it. Worst experience ever. Unless you know Calc 1 really well, expect to have a rough time "learning". Nice guy, terrible prof.
Gives three tests and optional homework. Expects you to learn everything from his one example on the board and the homework. Tests are completely different from the homework. Avoid at all costs. Nice guy, but 10 out of 20 people had to withdraw from the class. Any other section is ideal.
I didn't do well in the class, because I wasn't expecting to have to study so much. But this is one of the most supportive professors I have ever met.
Terrible professor. Hardest class ever. Failed 75% of HONORS students.
Shivamoggi was very kind and funny, but sadly that didn't equate to being a great professor. His homework was difficult and when we went over it in class, he was unclear and difficult to understand. He assumed a lot about previous knowledge and while I had a strong math background, I struggled tremendously in this course. Half of my class dropped.
Amazing prof. He spends 20% of his class joking around, but his humor grows on you. Very reasonable grader. Grades are mainly based off of tests, which can be difficult but you should pass if you go to class sometimes and DO THE HW (he answers HW questions in class sometimes). Material can be spicy at times so drink some coffee before class.
Super nice man, brilliant at math. Should not ever teach a class. Every other DEQ class is substantially easier, including the honors class. You will easily work three times harder and be tested unfairly. I strongly recommend any other professor, even if that means putting off graduation for another semester. It isn't worth it.
This man is a legend. He turns the lecture into his world famous show that has a fun interactive part where you get to bet how long he will keep asking "WHAT IS THIS???" Shiva is also super generous with his treats and gives lots of goodies to prepare for them. I can guarantee, you'll never be bored in his class.
I looked forward to class to see the one and only, Dr. Sen. It's impossible to be bored in his class. The man is full of energy and excitement. Works and speaks fast. This man is super slick. The whole class is "The Show". He gives you goodies to practice on and treats to test. Study the goodies and you'll be very prepared for the treats.
Very enthusiastic about class. Tests are highly based off the worksheets he gives you weeks in advance. I made it through because of the study group our class formed. Highly recommend the latter. Fair teacher who expects you to put in the work to succeed. Grade was based only on exams, with 4 exams throughout the course including final.
Dr. Sen definitely expects a lot from you, and the grade consists solely of three exams and a cumulative final. To perform well on exams, I recommend completing his worksheets as he gives them out and keeping up with the homework. Overall a caring professor, and he does his best to make the class a "show".
Lecture moves very fast and is hard to understand when he talks fast. Expects you to know everything right after he writes it on the board. No assigned homework and grades only 3 test worth 20% each and a final worth 40%. Material is not hard but I mostly learned by myself from my notes after class. He is a nice guy and a generous grader on tests.
Very energetic. Teaches at a fast pace, but will do everything he can to make sure you understand the material before moving on. 100% of your grade is tests (he doesn't assign homework, so if you have a bad work ethic, take someone else). Overall, one of the UCF math department's finest.
Phenomenal professor. What an great person, the class was just a real pleasure to be in. Enjoy the 'show' as he calls it, and the many goodies and treats to come. The content is quite a bit and requires algebra to calculus III, but the way Dr. Sen structures the class is perfect. By far the best professor to have for this class, I really enjoyed it
Awesome guy!!!! Definitely recommend. I took him for Differential Equations 1 and he gives you all the resources you need to get 100s in tryout exams.
Horrible. Absolutely awful. Prepare to be asked questions on tests that have nothing to do with the lectures or the homework that's assigned. You will come out of the class learning a lot, yet somehow failing.
Dr. Sen is one of the few professors that really just wants his students to understand the material over everything else. The grade for the class is only 3 exams and a final, but he calls his exam questions "Treats" for a reason. Just understand all the homework, and you'll at least get a B. He's the best professor in the UCF math department.
He is a very nice man who cares about the subject. The class is taught based on theory but homework and exams are all numerical. Lectures seem to over complicate the material. Do the homework, and make sure you understand it. Go to class, he remembers. He tries to help out and give easier problems, but you need to spend time on the material.
Tests dictate your grade in this class. No graded homework, but optional homework with answers provided can help ensure you understand the content. Lectures were pretty interactive, and grading never felt unfair. Probably the most fun I've ever had in a math course.
Survive. If you are taking a class with this professor, avoid at all costs.
We met once a week for two hours. He provided his lecture notes ahead of time and went over them during class time and got pretty deep and was lost. Only graded on a mid-term and final. I did every assigned hw problem before the exam and did great. His final was more theory but had extra credit so still did fine. Was a great math professor.
This is the second time I took Dr. Sen. The first time for Matrix & Linear Algebra and this time for Partial Differential Equations and both times he was was very enthusiastic teacher. He really knows what hes talking about and is eager to answer questions in class. Sometimes you have to reiterate your question for him to understand it though.
He covers a ton of material in lecture and you'll learn a lot in his class. His exams (he calls them treats) are challenging and are 100% of your grade but he's a very generous grader. Sometimes he put HW problems on the exam. He isn't super accessible for office hours but was pretty helpful after class. Overall I really enjoyed the class.
He's a nice teacher and an okay lecturer. I would get frustrated by him getting constantly sidetracked when I was in class, but it seemed many people did not. Why was I frustrated? Because the entire grade was 3 exams, each worth 33% of final grade. I got a 100 on the first and a 50 on the second... I'll be struggling to get higher than a C now. :(
(I took him for MAP 4303) Dr. Sen makes every lecture worth coming to. He's funny, caring, and he wants to see his students succeed. Only three exams and 90% of them are straight from his homeworks. I recommend him to anyone; it takes some time to get used to his accent and it's hard to come back from if you fail an exam, but he's a great teacher
Lectures go fairly fast because he tends to skip steps from one line to another. Most of your time outside of class will be spent on homework and filling in those steps he skipped. Tests tend to have around 4-5 questions with most questions being similar to the homework and one or two unique questions. Will answer homework questions during class.
Taught topics in a different order than what is usual for this course. Make sure to brush up on ODE I. The tests are similar to the homework problems with one or two unique problems. Lecture sometimes gets off-topic by certain stories he tends to remember in class.
10/10 very goofy
Horrible, avoid at all costs
Hardest diff eq professor. Take literally anyone else but him. Our entire grade is based off two midterms and one final, the final being 50% of our grade, which is unheard of for most 2000 level math profs. Ignore the reviews that say he's a generous grader, the TA's are the ones that grade the exams. Our midterms also only have four questions.
worst professor He has an accent and is difficult to understand especially since he likes to sidetrack and talk about unrelated topics His handwriting is unintelligible, condescending during office hours and the entire class has 2 tests (25%) and a final(50%) Content isnt too bad teach yourself and don't let bhims lectures confuse you (dont go! :))
Do not take. Incomprehensible lectures due to heavy accent and horrific handwriting. Completely out of touch with tech, there is ZERO webcourses use. There's also not a clear course structure, so it's difficult to even teach yourself. 2 midterms, each worth 25%, and a final worth 50%, all with no curving and unforgiving grading.
Thick accent you won't understand, very difficult to get in contact with. Your grade is a total of 3 tests, one of which is the final that's worth half of your grade. Tests only have 4 questions total. If you ask for help he'll tell you to read the textbook, better off teaching yourself most of the time. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
A phenomenal professor his lectures feel like someone with adhd is teaching so never a boring moment, he does not touch the textbook but is incredibly helpful just go to his office hours. His math abilities are so incredibly cool highly recommend him as a professor if you're a math or physics major.
A great researcher but a horrible teacher. At times it feels impossible to understand what he's trying to say because of his accent and teaching style. You can tell he is trying his best and is dedicated but he cannot teach a class at this level. Having 2 exams and a final be weighted 25% 25% 50% is ludicrous do not take this you teach yourself.
graded from two 25% exams and 50% final. No mandatory homework. Hes not the best lecturer if you dont want to understand more than base level. Attendance was taken randomly. His exams are pretty easy if you do the homework.
Dr. Sen is definitely a fun professor as he makes his class very interesting. There are three tests all year and homework is not for a grade but mandatory if you want to get a decent grade on the tests. Midterms 1 and 2 are worth 25% each and final is worth 50%. He does give a generous curve at the end of the semester. I recommend him but study!!!!
Dr. Sen is very knowledgeable and caring, but my problem is I could not understand him during lectures. I tried going to class the first couple weeks and left learning nothing. He goes through problems very quickly and expects you to remember everything from previous classes (calc 2&3). I turned to YouTube and the textbook and passed.
Dr.Sen's class was the most enjoyable class in my schedule. He taught through examples and he was super funny. Attend class even though not required. The key is practice so go over the homework questions until it sticks and you will get it! Tests were graded fairly (might depend on TA) and questions were straight to the point (similar to examples).
He's actually the best professor. The class is structured around purely tests. The homework is participation and is only supplementary. Very flexible with grading and really fun lectures. Insanely passionate about the subject and you won't be bored in class. You have to put in the work outside of class to keep up, but also not hard to catch up.
Professor Sen is full of knowledge and stories. Never a dull class with him. Only graded on 2 tests and a final exam that was not cumulative. Exams were only 4 questions. Questions are very similar to homework questions, so if you do the homework its pretty simple. This is my second time taking a class with him and I would take more if I could.
