This teacher is terrible. She has a thick accent so you can not understand anything she says. She sits at the board and does problems straight from the book the whole time. She doesn't ask if people have questions, and when people do have questions, she just re-does the problem expecting that will solve the persons question. DO NOT TAKE HER!
Professor Varghese is a great teacher if you need to brush up on your math skills. It is a little hard to understand her in the beginning, but you get used to her accent. She also gives a lot of partial credit on quizzes and tests and homework is optional (recommended though). She is also very helpful when you talk to her during office hours.
the best teacher i ever had! she's crystal clear and her tests are extremely similar to the homeworks. she very sweet and patient. she's always available outside of class for help. her class is very easy!
Unfortunately, her accent is pretty ridiculous and overpowering to the point of being incomprehensible. Don't expect to get anything back on time, she loves making up excuses. Teaches directly from the damn book. Good luck!
She is a great teacher. She may have a thick accent, but she makes sure that shes writes out examples and definitions on the board. She is also extremely receptive to questions and is always available after class for help. Take her for math classes if you can.
okay she has a frikin accent but its not THAT bad. shes definately understandable! i wud say AT LEAST half of her quizzes and tests are take home and very easy bc theyre right out of the book and test and quizzes! if you keep up with the assignments and do them on time, u'll do fine. i <3 her!!
I LOVE HER. SHE IS SUCH A GOOD TEACHER. THE CLASS HMWK & QUIZZES WERE ALL ONLINE, SO DONT BUY THE BOOK. AND THE TESTS ARE ALMOST IDENTICAL TO THE QUIZZES.. ON LINE. OVERALL, ALWAYS WANTING QUESTIONS ASKED AND WRITES OUT EVERYYYY STEP. ACCENT IS UNDERSTANDABLE, SO DONT WORRY! P.S WHATEVER YOU DO, DONT TALK IN HER CLASS, SHE WILL GO OFF AND EXPLODE!
Awesome teacher. Super easy. All quizzes are open note and the tests are the quizzes combined. Super helpful outside of class.
She is a really good teacher. She explains everything in detail and does several examples. Homework is not graded, but good to do. Quizzes are not open note, but still easy if you do the homework. The tests are the quizzes.
Had her for two consecutive math classes, awesome teacher. Really nice and genuinely caring. The quizzes are cake and she gives review sheets for tests which basically are the test but just with different numbers.
She was awesome! Ive failed the class before and when she taught me I got a B+. Shes very clear with what she expects you to know and truely cares about your success. Quizzes and tests are easy as long as you do the homework and pay attention when she goes over anything for midterm and final prep.
She is one of the best math teachers i have ever had. 4 tests worth 12% each (she drops lowest), Midterm and Final 24% each, participation 4%. She is so great with going over problems that will be exactly like the ones that appear on the tests. She likes it when he students participate, ask her questions. she is great!
Would def recommend! Do your homework and you will ace the exams. I never attended class and always got As on tests (should mention that I basically failed this class in high school). Attendance is 4% of grade, but if you do well on exams you don't even need to attend. Really nice too! Wants you to succeed.
Took this class my junior year of high school, so never ended up going to class. But if you do your homework and pay attention in class, you'll be able to ace the exams. She also has great review for her midterms. Not necessarily the most outgoing/well speaking teacher, but she gets the job done
I would definitely recommend Professor Varghese. I have never been good/understood math, but Professor Varghese breaks it down step by step so that it is understandable. Also, her exams are predictable and easy to study for. It is very possible to get an A in this class if you do the homework and practice the problems prior to the exam.
Best math teacher I've ever had! I've never gotten an A in math but Professor Vargheseis so good at explaining that I got my first A in math. Extremely fair grader, reviews test material
Good teacher, rocky start at first but she was very helpful and ended up doing well in her class at the end. Do homework and ask questions.
Easy, do study guides and homework and you will pass with an A
She's an excellent professor, her homework isn't mandatory but as she'll probably tell you, if you do the homework then you'll do well on the tests. I can attest to this, she's very fair. Easy A!
SHE IS THE BEST MATH PROFESSOR EVER. I've never got an A in my entire life but with her I got all As. She really wants to help you to get an A with extra credits in each test and if you have ay question she is happy to help you and explain stuff thousand times.
She goes through problems really slow and step by step. Her study guides are exactly like the test, so if you study those you are good to go! There are online assignments that are a little bit annoying and easy to forget about, but those help too. I never opened my book once, and I still did really well just from looking at the notes in class.
Do the study guides and you'll pass the the tests!! The study guide and the tests are the same but she just changes around a few numbers and she goes over the study guide before the exam. Show up to class. There's online homework due every week, but it doesn't take long. She's a very nice professor and I think students don't respect her enough.
Very easy class, I would have passed with a better grade if I just simply did more of the online homework assignments. There are 5 tests: test 1, test 2, Mid-term, test 3, and the final. It is a very easy class and I would recommend taking her class if you want an easy A.
Good things: If you go her office hours, you will get an A on the tests, EASY extra credit. Study guides are extremely helpful Bad things: If you talk, text, or aren't engaged, she will call you out. Takes attendance everyday.
Amazing teacher, I recommend! I wish she taught more math classes.
She's one of the best professors I've ever had for math. I HIGHLY recommend her for anyone who struggles in math. She goes step by step, and does it a couple of times. She really cares about her students, and makes sure they want to pass. Easy A if you pay attention.
She's such an amazing professor. If I could I would take her again. She really cares about her students, and doesn't move on until she makes sure we all understand what's going on
GREAT PROFESSOR! Take her for math 117.
I loved her! She is so sweet and I did TERRIBLE in highschool precalc (C-), but I am pretty positive I will at least get an A- in this course. Just do the homework, because it will give you some wiggle room to do bad on quizzes and make sure to do her review guides for test. If you know that review guide well, then you should receive A's on exams.
Amazing professor who is always willing to help. One of the most geniunely caring teachers you will ever have the pleasure to be taught by. When I was struggling in her class I went to her office hours and she helped me understand every concept so well my grade went from a C to an A-. If given the opportunity I would take this professor again!
Not a horrible teacher, but often shows up late to class. Final review guide is thicker than all the other review guides combined. Test is cumulative and not helpful.
Need a professor that'll help you understand Intro to Pre-Calc better? Take Dr. Varghese! She is so passionate about her teaching that a student who is struggle can approach her and ask her questions easily. She will provide step by step understanding of difficult problems and I recommend to visit her during office hours!
I wouldn't recommend taking Biju Varghese because her lectures aren't helpful, she prints the textbook chapter out and teaches that. She doesn't understand questions besides the one on the notes. Her quizzes are directly from the hw, and the hw is harder than the problems in notes and its online from the textbook.
She is really easy, and although there is a lot of homework, it isn't that difficult. She gives study guides before exams which are exactly like the test, do them and you'll pass just fine. Her lectures are pretty slow, so it's easy to get distracted but she teaches the material very well, and actually cares about her students! Overall, great prof.
I wouldn't necessarily recommend Professor Varghese. She repeats herself often, her lectures are slow, and there is a lot of homework. She gives study guides before tests that are almost identical, and she gives partial credit for work, which is nice. Despite her long lectures; she is kind, passionate, and wants her students to succeed.
Her quizzes and exams consisted of problems very similar to homework which made it easy to study. Lectures can be excruciatingly slow and long at times, and she is strict. With the online switch, tends to be rigid over Zoom and lectures would go over time.
She is a really good teacher and is willing to help as much as she can. I struggled with math until I took her class. She made me learn it much faster than i ever had but also by understanding. The first test i didnt go to her office hours thinking I understood but after i failed she helped me and after that i did much better. DO THE HOMEOWORK!!!
Prof Varghese is super upfront about what she expects from you. Do the homework on WileyPlus, pay attention in class, and ask for help when you need it and you'll get an A. 3 tests, a final, and 4 quizzes. Varghese is a no-nonsense professor. Got the feeling that she didn't trust her students, but it's a fairly easy class.
Super sweet, lecture are long but she didnt require you to attend (online). Not the most understanding but she tried.
She is a very good professor and does her job well. If you are able to stay up to date with her lectures, there is no reason that you will do poorly. Her lectures may be slow, but that is because she really wants to make sure you understand. trust in her process and you will succeed.
Very nice professor who genuinely cares about your success in her class. Lots of homework but she gives you a lot of time to do it. Lectures are excrutiatingly long and boring so its very easy to be distracted but they're not mandatory. If you struggle with math I recommend attending live though. Homework, quizzes, and tests are all very similar.
don't take her, you'll struggle and you won't learn anything at all.
She is a really good teacher and always willing to help you. Professor, Biju was the only professor I had who dedicated so much time to help her students understand. If you struggle just go to her office hours and you will do great on all tests and quizzes. she explains each question step by step and always open to questions while explaining.
Prof. Varghese is amazing and truly cares about her students. She goes the extra mile to ensure students understand the material. However, she is no nonsense and doesn't tolerate goofing off in class. I went into the class having very little mathematical knowledge and left feeling prepared to advance in my future math classes.
While the class is very homework-heavy, the practice problems are helpful and if you complete them you have a guaranteed A on the exams. Dr. Varghese is extremely kind and explains problems step by step whenever students need help. She is always available during office hours and if you put in the time and effort you will earn a good grade
TAKE PROFESSOR VARGHESE!!! She does come off as not trusting her students sometimes when it comes to cheating, but she is passionate about her job and WANTS her students to succeed. Her goal is to have anyone who dislikes math, to like it by the end of the semester! Take your time to do the homework, you are guaranteed to pass with AT LEAST a B.
Horrible at teaching, just gives notes and expects you to understand
Varghese is good. Her lectures are longer and she has a monotone voice during them, as well as a thick accent. However, as long as you do the homework and review for the quizzes and exams you should be able to pass very easily. Sit in the back row so that you can play games on your computer if you already know the material she is covering.
Prof Varghese has a very strong personality but overall, she is very caring and wants to see her students succeed! There are three exams, and they are exactly like the questions from WileyPlus so make sure you complete those assignments and really understand them because she just switches the numbers around. Take her.
The exams/quizzes are exactly like the homework on Wiley Plus, so if you study the homework then you will do well on the exams. Only thing that was hard was the final exam. Also she reads off of her notes which can be unclear sometimes so go to office hours to get one on one tutoring. She takes attendance every class. Overall nice professor.
horrible! a total bully! she was unorganized and disrespectful to me and to fellow staff members. not only does she not give partial credit on tests and quizzes (which is the worst for a math class), she dislikes students with accommodations or that ask for extra help. I am a math person and I did better in this class when I took it in high school.
Professor Varghese is one of the best math teachers I've ever had. She cares about her students and although she can be strict, it's because she wants what's best for everybody (often tells us this). She goes through lectures rather slowly but she's very thorough in explaining everything. I'm awful at math but am passing with an easy A.
She cares a lot about the success of her students. She's very understanding but you're still expected to follow along and study hard to make the most of her class
Will accuse you of cheating, didn't care to learn the pronunciation of my name for the whole semester (despite being corrected multiple times)
I loved Prof Varghese!Math has never been my strongest subject, and she made it easy. Her lectures can be a little slow, but they were helpful. She was very easy to reach and was always open to helping out.Attend her office hours! She really cared about me once she saw I attended class everyday and every office hour session and did her best to help.
Professor Varghese truly cares about her students. She reopened assignments multiple times for students to receive full credit & provided an extra credit opportunity. This course is graded upon 4 quizzes and 4 exams. She really wants you to succeed in this class & offers a lot of help outside of the classroom. Would definitely take her!
she obviously knows what she is talking about. Her notes are comprehensive and helpful but be prepared to feel every minute of class. The way she presents the notes makes class take far longer than it could and it feels incredibly redundant. She also mentions at least twice a day how good of a teacher she is and it always comes off as very arrogant
Prof. Varghese is very caring and willing to work with students; however, classes/lectures are drawn out SO MUCH. She explains every detail of every problem (which helps some) but nobody asked her to, so we just want her to MOVE ON. Homework&tests are also the exact same problems w different numbers which isn't very helpful for learning personally.
Professor Varghese truly cares about her students and is always willing to give an extra hand. She's great at communicating, re opening assignments, and does anything to make her students succeed. She's very understanding and I would definitely take her again.
Offers extra credit at the end of the semester. Also, she uploads lecture notes to Sakai, which is nice to refer to during and after class. She has truly set me up for success for future math classes! It is also easy to get 100% on homework ;).
She was pretty chill. Just pay attention or look at the notes she has. The homework and quizzes/exams were online except for the final. It was decently easy but hard to understand her sometimes. She does let you on your computer in class but doesn't like when your on your phone.
I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but frankly, she is quite rude. She likes to brag about how good of a professor she is, but her class consists of her just throwing words at you and getting mad the lack of engagement from the class. Also, do not depend on her to be there for office hours, she is often late.
Professor Varghese is clearly very intelligent, but not the best professor. She will brag to you about how it's her god-given gift to teach, but relies heavily on online materials. Learned most of the material online. She's a very sweet person, but intimidating in class. All lecture notes are on Sakai which is great.
She was a good teacher overall and made it very easy to pass her class. You have unlimited attempts on homework and an extra credit assignment during finals week. I also found her office hours to be very helpful and she walks you through the concepts. She goes on long tangents sometimes about herself and her student's scores so beware of that.
DO THE HOMEWORK!! The questions on the homework are the same as the quizzes and tests! Professor Varghese a very caring professor and makes herself accessible to help her students. She truly will help you and give you as many examples as you need to understand. She is very patient and understanding with students who make an effort in her class.
Her accent makes it very hard to understand her. Besides that she's an ok professor but extremely boring. Make sure you do the homework because its for completion and is the exact questions that are on the tests.
Her accent is hard to understand, not very respectful of the students, often does not give enough time on the quizzes, and she blames the students when they do not finish on time even though most of the class did not finish on time. Class work did not accurately reflect the material on the tests/quizzes, no partial or extra credit was given.
Prof. Varghese is a wonderful professor. She wants her students to do well and is always more than willing to help. Homework is on Wiley Plus, & is due at the beginning of each week, it's quite similar to quizzes and exams. She does have an accent however I don't think it's that difficult to understand. ASK FOR HELP AND DO THE HW!
I would totally recommend taking professor Varghese if you have the chance! She is super caring and it's obvious she wants her students to succeed in the class. She throughly goes through every problem and makes sure her students understand the material. All the quiz and exam questions are the same as the notes and the homework.
DO THE HOMEWORK! She has a thick accent, but it wasn't too bad if you looked at the textbook beforehand/during class. The questions on the homework are the same as the quizzes and tests! So many examples and takes her time explaining to students. takes attendance at the end of every class so attendance is very important in understanding the content
Biju cares about all of her students and she really wants you to come to her classroom and learn. She is super willing to extend office hours and she will help you out extra if you put in the work to come to class and her office hours. Graded on homework, 4 quizzes, and 3 exams and 1 cumulative final. Biju is a legend, take her.
Genuinely makes the class way harder than it is. I am very good at math yet she made it incomprehensible, very incompetent professor. 3 tests, 1 cumulative final, several quizzes. "Lectures" consist of hand-copied notes displayed on screen directly from the textbook. Half of the things taught will not help in calc. SI is much more helpful than them
she is a nice prof, however, I could barely get through her class because of the way she explains topics. She is very hard to follow and uses handwritten notes that are near-indecipherable. she tries to be helpful but I still couldn't follow after asking questions.
Not even a hard teacher. Everything is online. She takes attendance, but it doesn't count towards anything in the gradebook. She's a very sweet lady and has multiple office hours a week.
I love this lady!! If you actually go to class you will be fine. Attendance is not mandatory but I recommend going. She extends homework deadlines and you can tell she actually cares about her students. She can come off as stern but because she wants you to do well.
3 exams + final, 4 quizzes, and homework on WileyPlus. She gave extra credit for final and always extended deadlines for homework. It is impossible to fail her class, she gives lots of cushion. Exams are very similar to quizzes and notes. She has an accent, but its not bad. Only thing I didn't like was no worksheets or practice exams
WileyPlus homework, 3 exams and a cumulative final, and quizzes. She really cares about her class and wants the students to pass. She has office hours and encourages students to come. I honestly didn't go to a lot of the classes due to health issues, but I am on track to have a B or C at the worst (depending on finals grades lol).
I took precal in high school but this woman genuinely made math more confusing. She is very heavy on the tests/quizzes, and ALL of the work is done through wileyplus. Lecture heavy and hard to understand because the lecture notes are handwritten but the SI is pretty helpful. She's very intelligent and kind but goodness gracious
She knows what she's doing but her way of explaining it is just showing how she did her practice problems. Talks like we're kindergarteners. Constantly blames her students - "if you do not listen to this you will fail this part of the test" "if you aren't doing well that is your fault" etc.
I loved her!! You will do well if you practice. Homework assignments after each class but they aren't due right away. Quizzes on every chapter and four exams throughout the semester. Don't listen to anyone who says that her teaching style is bad, they're just mad they're failing because they didn't listen to her lectures or advice.
I really enjoyed her class. It was a little challenging but I highly suggest going to her office hours. There was homework and exam reviews which were easy, also after you get a grade on an assignment, if you notice something is wrong but you think you deserve credit, email her and she will most likely give you half to almost full credit back.
she was very sweet and intelligent but i found it very hard to follow along in her lectures. the material itself wasn't very hard but her way of explaining things was confusing and i ended up teaching myself the material 99% of the time. she did not prepare us for the paper final very well and ended up using a different teachers review guide.
The material was easy to understand, but she belittles you and treat every question you ask as if you should already know.
