He is new to MJC and hot! He does like students to not interrupt, which is fine.
I'm taking Prof Anelli for Philo 105; Logic. He's funny and it helps if you laugh at his sometimes corny jokes. The argument letter is very important. The only thing that I dislike is that he will argue about little deatils and he's just showing how complicated things are and when a student does it, it's just nitpicking.
Teacher is picky but knows his stuff!
He's a cool guy, laid back and personable. Just do your homework and it's fairly easy.
attitude
Class is easy. He's a little weird. Sometimes I feel like he just rambles. Class sometimes doesnt make much sense and drags on. Boring, but easy.
The class is rediculous. I recommend taking a diff class in general, not a diff teacher. He's a nice guy. Fairly easy. Logic is just a dumb class.. it turned a simple arguement into a bunch of run arounds. The class seemed to drag on and the book was bland. Good teacher, boring subject.
It wasn't the easiest class ever because the reading are a bit difficult. But he explains everything and is a really interesting teacher, it was actually fun to show up to that class.
Warning. Don't take this class over the summer. Are you ready for 7 essays, 2-3 pages of journal writing everyday, reading about 40 pages a day, an 8 page final paper, a 40-50 question final exam, and lots of head ache? Work load is very unreasonable; he thinks we study 8 hours of work each day. I have an A and will keep it. Good Luck!
Excellent professor, the best I've had at MJC! He comes from a diverse background, has exprienced both liberal and conservative education. Has much more enthusiasm than Professor Stan Spector (also philo. at MJC). Allows students to freely participate in lectures and welcomes all ideas and input.
nice guy, just do the work. Its philosophy so it is a little confusing and he understands we may not get it. All you got to do is just write what your thinking, he wrote butcher your paper because atleast you tried. He is interesting just not the subject.
He will lie to you, mostly about being able to turn in work for being absent. He won't count it. He's also pretty boring.
gtreat and interesting teacher
great teacher! i took this class online, but i can imagine it would be even more interesting if you take it in class. it seemed difficult in the beginning but i ended up getting an A in the class. grades fair and also grades on a curve. i would definitely recommend this class!
The class can get confusing but if you as for help he pretty much will call you an idiot amd say go ask someone else.
Awesome Teacher. My absolute favorite. I've had three of his classes now and I start a fourth one really soon.
Very Flexible and Fair. Always knows what he is talking about. Highly recommended
Mr. Anelli is one of the best teachers ever! He's so passionate about what he does, you can tell that he knows his stuff. It's practically impossible to fall asleep in his class. He even licked the wall and the desk! He made me love philosophy even more. I would recommend him to the world.
Mr. Anelli is a good teacher. He is passionate about philosophy and he makes the class very interesting. You can get an easy A, all you have to do is do all the homework and do good on the final. He grades very fair.
This class is a nightmare & totally worthless unless you want to major in Philosophy. I can't believe it's a requirement-what a waste of time. The only place you would use this stuff is in an argument with another Philo major. Prof. Anelli does a good job teaching & grading but he's quite a busy guy & so office hour time was always busy/limited.
A wonderful teacher who makes you think.
Since when is there a Philo 102 class?
very cool guy. down to earth. reasonable grading. always up for discussion if u have a problem with your grade and will change it if you prove him wrong. class is a little difficult but you should be fine if you do atleast a little of reading. but u must always pay attention. hw's are always one page on a small section of reading. would refer
Anelli is an awesome professor, he is extremely intelligent and funny. He really knows how to make the readings interesting and he can think quick on his feet. Your going to have to work hard, and if you don't read the book you will get a bad grade. If you can't decide go with Anelli. You won't regret it.
For those who plan to take this course and is trying to pass easily, then your in the wrong class. The class is pretty hard. The instructor teaches well, but when it comes to the exams and homework, there's lots of procrastination. The subject in philo 105 is boring and sometime can be hard to understand.
He never replied to my emails, and took forever to grade assignements. He did give great curves and thank God to. The class was not too much work, but one has to work HARD to get a good grade in the class. Overall, I guess I would recommend him for hard workers.
Mr. Anelli is probably the best Philo teacher you're going to find at MJC, and that's not much of a compliment.. Just make sure you do the readings/HW or you will regret it! Anelli generally goes into his Philo mode in his unclear lectures where he's pretty much rambling on about nonsense. [HINT] Use sparknotes or you wont understand the readings!
Unless you're majoring in Philo, this class is very mind-numbing. It wouldn't be so hard if the readings and whatnot were actually interesting. Anelli is a good professor and makes the class as bearable as possible. Annotation/reading are pretty important, and like I said, the texts are horrendously boring. Not recommended, but a good last resort.
Hard class, and hard material to cover, but if you work hard you should get a ok grade. Anelli is a funny guy and is always glad to help, can be kind of a smart ass though. Highly reccomend.
Anelli is not by any means an easy teacher. But it's not impossible, anyone that complains about his class being too hard is either lazy, or stupid. His lectures are fascinating, and very informative. He has a passion for what he teaches, and while you're in his class, he expects the same of you. His class is a very enlightening experience.
Awesome! He is very interesting and you wont want to miss class because the discussions are hilarious and interesting. If you need a philosophy class this teacher is definitely one of the best!
This wasn't a super easy A but Anelli is hilarious and I really miss his class now that the semester is over!!! He is great!!
This class is not a walk in the park. Homework assigned every week. A midterm a Final, and a 10 page research paper. is what your grade consist of. If you do all your homework you will understand the class alot better. Mr. Aneli an awesome teacher. Extremly funny.
Mr. Anelli is awesome! Philo was fun with him he knows his stuff!! and he knows how to teach it at a level easy to comprehend! thanks!
Offers EC more than any professor, allows you to re-do papers, and lets you study before quizzes and tests. He also drops the lowest quiz. Still, you MUST do the hw, or you FAIL. It's easy though. He loves to argue and win, but he can take it as well as dish it out.
Got to take this class with Prof. Anelli during the financial meltdown and the circus now known as the 2008 presidential election. He was quick to include all of the current events right into his lesson plans, basically on the fly. It was a great time to take the class, but he is an often hilarious and intriguing professor on top of it all.
He is a great teacher but his class is very time consuming
He's very laid back and not an egomaniac. Class itself is basically read assigned pages, take quiz (easy if you read), write 4 short papers, 1 big paper at the end (tho its essentially a redo of 1st paper). Lectures are HILARIOUS, he loves to argue and make his students think. He accepts late work, and gives out 5% worth of EC (that's A LOT)
anelli is an awesome teacher. not only is he cute, he's not religious, at ALL. by no means is this class easy though- he tends to fall behind because people can't grasp the concept of philosophy, which throws his expectations high. his grading is notoriously harsh, even if he hasn't covered the material. kinda unfair, and definitely time consuming
This class is a lot of work and especially if your just taking it to meet the critical thinking requirement to transfer. The 2 papers are really hard. Professor Anelli is a really good teacher. He's really funny and picky too. But he's fair. It's really hard to prove him wrong on things but he doesn't mind getting challenged on things
HIs class is interesting but you do have to write multiple papers. He also takes a long time to hand back graded work and his class had weekly quizes. He is a fair teacher though and his class did have entertaining conversations.
I'm just now starting this class, but so far,I've found Prof.Anelli to be hilarious,open-minded and generally interested in teaching his students. He has not shown bias to the indiv. philosophers which is great. course is def not easy, but is well worth the work.If you are lazy, take art hist,if you enjoy a good challenge, Anelli's up for the job :)
Anelli is a really interesting guy. Liberal, and a free-thinker.. humorous, & a little scatter-brained. Philo105 is challenging, but only hard if you either don't pay attention, or you are not really the smartest person to begin with. It's a lot of common sense, and his lectures are amusing. And for some reason, I find him strangely attractive..
Amazing teacher! The best in the Philosophy department!! Take him! He gets totally into the class and interacts with his students. He's funny and so fun! Only downside is that there is a lot of writing. But it deffinatly helps!
Anelli is a fantastic teacher. His lectures were consistently interesting and he worked as hard as we did. He always had the text books and read out of them in class and went over what things meant. you do have to kind of learn to think like him sometimes on quizzes though. uses turnitin. keep up on the readings and go to class and you'll do fine!
Bill Anelli is one of the most passionate professors I have had the honor of having at MJC. He is challenging, open minded, and very intelligent. He stretches himself pretty thin to be available to his students and his lectures are never boring. I loved that he included eastern religious thought and feminist thought into his class too. :)
Great INstructor! Hard Class that I got a C, took ethics later an did much better! I wound an Art Major later but still look back to his classes and teachings! Great Guy!
Anelli is very intelligent and shares the information that he knows everyday in class.I have learned alot and can easily say this is a life changer. This class was easy for me because I was interested but I can see how its hard for others. He curves his tests, gives Extra credit and is a fair teacher in general. My favorite teacher. highly recommended
Prof Anelli is a great teacher. I didn't have much interest in Philosophy but his 105 class is interesting and relevent. Doesnt use an $$$ textbook! The HW takes a while and you really have to think but he does grade fair. Allows you to resubmit mid term as many times as you want, drops lowest HW and test grades and offers plenty of extra credit.
If philosophy is your thing, then take him. If not good luck. His grading scale is good but if your not in class you cant turn in your hw no matter what. Lectures can be boring and expect to spend about 1-4 hours on one hw each week.
His reasoning class is a great class. tells you what you need to study and curves his test. He really makes you think outside of the box. Do the earlier HWs so you can skip the later ones that take 3 hrs to do. He gives extra credit too!
For a Basic Philosophy 101 class, this is not your teacher. I would Recommend you find a different teacher.A study group is best for his class. Becareful his grading is werid.
didn't learn a thing and just BSed all my assignments and passed with a C. hard class but just fill the homework up with something that sounds right and you'll get a good grade.
I had a previous bad experience with philosophy, but Anelli is an amazing teacher and has turned me back onto it. He is not easy if you dont intend to think critically. Keep up with the reading! Hes a great teacher and its an amazing experience.
Bill is a wonderfull teacher his teaching style is great he's hilarious. Lots of homework though.
Bill is a wonderfull teacher his teaching style is great he's hilarious. Lots of homework though. It's not an easy class!
teacher was awesome and always presented his lectures with good humor. He was very clear and always looked for ways to demontrate his teachings in our class.
Great teacher, really funny the down side of this class is that you get a lot of busy work kinda annoying its actually really hard
Great professor! Extremely helpful and hilarious! He does a great job teaching, and passed with a high B! Study for quizzes a bit and pay attention in class, you'll be fine.
I had an extremely hard time with this class and I felt like he tried to shove a bunh of philosphies down our throat instead of teaching about them. I am a straight A student that dedicates a lot of time and effort to my classes and this was definately a struggle for me. I do not reccommend him unless philosophy is your major
The reading can be difficult, but he is such a wonderful teacher so I HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking his class!!! He is extremely helpful, and super funny, he is very animated and he is just a really cool guy and easy to talk to. At first I felt lost in the class then I started getting help from him and he was understanding and happy to help.BEST TEACHER
Great professor! Keeps class entertaining! Great sense of humor, very whimsical. He gives you a fair amount of work, do it and try and you'll be fine. Everything you need for your tests is given to you. He's very helpful and even offers to make appointments during office hours. One of my favorites! Also he licked the wall once.lol
TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!! DEFINITELY!!!! He is the most helpful teacher I have ever had. The first day I was terrified to ask for help, and felt really confused, but he is sooooo Nice! Very helpful and encouraging! Do not take any other Philo 101 class but HIS. You will not regret it!! He actually makes philosophy fun and you learn so much.
The professor was a really cool guy, but he was all over the map when he was trying to explain stuff. His exams were easy, but his paper he makes you do is hard.
This class was on the challenging side. Midterm and final are based solely off reading questions (which are your responsibility to answer). Lectures discuss the reading and a bio of the particular philosopher, but definitely are subjected to random tangents! Bill is a great proff. and will clarify when asked. Do all EC and you will get an A like me
Professor Bill gives you a clear outline of exactly what is to be expected of every student. His lectures are interesting and informative, so take good notes. The annotation he requires is especially helpful to better prepare you for exams. I enjoyed the class and highly recommend him as your next philosophy instructor.
4.0 GPA here, and I sweated his class! Tough concepts. Bill will answer all ???s though. Mid term and final are tough, but he grades on a good curve,do the reading responses to make tests easier.Use his office hours. Final paper is tough. He gives you 3 drafts to get it right.USE ALL 3 DRAFTS.Dont get lazy on the paper. Do all this and pass easily.
Really awesome professor, very helpful and pretty chill.
Great teacher! He is really down-to-earth and appreciates students asking questions. The material is hard but he gives a lot of resources to do well on his website. He is a lenient grader if he knows that you read the material and are trying your best! He gives chances if you didn't do well on papers or the midterm. Take him!!
GREAT instructor! He is so helpful and will take time to make sure you understand even though he is very busy! This course improved the quality of life for me and I will use the skills I have learned in my other courses as well as my life. I am definitely taking more courses with him! Taking Philo 135 in the summer and Philo 101 in the Fall!
You don't really use a textbook, because he'll print out the readings and handouts for you. So, money saver there! He's also very patient and willing to help out his students. His lectures are energetic and interesting. It's challenging class, after all it's philosophy, but if you read the texts and pay attention in class, then you'll do just fine.
Anelli is an amazing professor. there will be a massive amount of reading necessary to keep up, but the test and outlines he gives only cover what he covered in class. the term paper was hard but not impossible to pull off. do not be afraid to ask him questions. He is really good at explaining any issue you might have about the material
Professor Anelli is extremely helpful and he took the time to make sure you understand the material either via e-mail or office visits. I highly recommend reading the assignments and checking his website postings on a regular basis. His questions are highly analytical so I recommend breaking them down or asking questions.
My all time favorite. He's witty and puts his heart into his work, his passion solidified mine even more for philo. All you have to do is attend class, and pay attention. He tells you EXACTLY what will be on the midterm/final and lets you bring a cheat sheet! If you're lazy don't take though, you actually have to read/outline the books. He rules.
BESSSSSSSSST PROFESSSSSSOOORRRRR EVVVVEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRR. That's all I have to say.
Professor Anelli is very energetic and thoughtful. This is an environmental ethics class and it is very apparent that it is something he lives everyday. This class will make you think not only about the material, but about your life and your obligations to your surroundings. If you get a chance to go to High Sierra Institute, do it!
Bill Anelli is by far the best professor I've had at MJC. He is very expressive guy, and he keeps your attention! The lectures are fun and keep the students engaged! He loves his students too and is very helpful! Great at responding to emails and only tests on what he covers in class!! He also gives helpful feedback, but takes a long time to grade!
Bill is a super passionate guy, and its clear he actually has interest in what he teaches. He relies on more lecture then text, so its best to take really good notes and you'll pass the class no problem. His classes are great if you actually care about the subject- if not, its potentially easy to get swamped. But its all about what you put into it.
Prof Anelli is great. This class will really change how you define "argument" in a good way. Exams only cover what he goes over. Hw is very helpful. Drops lowest hw and exam. Letters are hard but you can redo the first. He's hilarious and nice definitely recommend.
enjoyed the class! a little hard, but very fun!
Awesome professor that is respected by students! I had him twice, 101 the past spring and summer 2015 semester for 135 and got the chance to go to high Sierra institute. These are the hardest classes I've ever taken in my life, but he goes above and beyond to help you! Never be afraid to ask for help because he really cares about your success.
Amazing guy! This guy is enthusiastic and is full of passion about philosophy. Reading is a must to pass his class, but it isn't a boring read. He does a great job of teaching a new way of thinking and a new way of writing. I am thankful that I took this course with Bill.
Interactive and not boring. Kept us interested in a night class. The textbook was a $6 workbook. Only gave one homework assignment a week. Don't miss, they count towards your grade. Took 4 tests. Wrote 2 papers. On the first big assignment, he let us turn it in as many times until we got it right. Gives extra credit. Will answer your questions.
pro's: fun lectures hands on professor never a dull moment Con's: lot's of difficult homework assignments hard on grading midterm and finial is difficult "but its passible" tons of reading &. annotations! in a nutshell, its a extremely hard class to pass but if your a good student you'll be fine. You will learn and have fun MUST READ!!!
Anelli is a good professor. He graded the homework somewhat hard in the beginning of the semester and toward the end he graded for quantity not quality. The first half of the class focuses on Plato and Socrates, which was confusing to me. The second half is about the world and if we exist and if God exits. It is a very interesting class.
This class is only difficult if you let your personal religious opinions get in the way. You need to understand that he is teaching the beliefs of philosophers this doesn't mean you have to agree. Anelli is an excellent teacher. He often gives the answer for the midterm/final. Everything is in your notes. I loved this class! He made me love philo!
I had Mr. Anelli for Intro to Physics. A challenging class with very boring readings but this guy is super hilarious! The reading can make no sense but when you follow along in class he makes it super clear for us and teaches in a really witty way. It may be a bit of a challenge, but just do the work - He grades on effort! I got a B! ;)
Taking Prof. Anelli made me wish I was a Philosophy major. He makes the class so fun and genuinely interesting. I was actually thrilled to come to class every week. He will make you question everything you ever thought you knew. Also he is a really great guy, super funny and helpful.
Don't take the Critical Reasoning and Analytic Writing online course with him Due dates were inconsistent, MANY assignments per week, assignments had inconsistent due dates. (Most professors keep discussions due on one day of week, quizzes on one day of week, etc.) Also, many of the assignments were only open for a day and a half. Not cool.
Super swag
Very cool teacher, fun class.
He's honestly really nice and he'll thoroughly explain something if you don't get it. Do not procrastinate because the work adds up, and do the reading! The all of the quizzes and midterm is online, but then the next class meeting you get to retake them with your assigned group for a better grade! He also gives a lot of extra credit and retakes.
Anelli is very helpful. Always available during office hours and is very entertaining. Definitely take his class.
I believe he is a good professor, but philosophy was a boring subject me.; especially the first half of the semester. You have to read a book and annotate it thoroughly. Do not leave those last minute. Definitely makes you work for your grade. I did like the fact that you can retake tests with your group as everyone got a way better grade.
Anelli is a good professor and is always willing to help. Philosophy was extremely hard & boring subject for me but he made it fun. He makes us read and annotate books on our own, so do not procrastinate bc the work will add up. You take tests online then do it in a group the next day. He offers tons of extra credit. Makes you work for your grade.
Anelli was okay. He is really nice and always willing to help you if needed. He has us read and annotate, but when he lectures it's not the same topic as the reading. It gets really confusing at times. I felt like I was teaching myself more than he was teaching us. Tests are online, then do it again in a group. Lots of extra credit and reading.
In the beginning this class is not so bad. However, as the semester progresses things get a little bit complicated. So make sure to study as best you can; for a night class I can say that it was what i expected it to be. Papers are a huge portion of your grade, luckily he let's you redo the first one as many times as you need.
Some of his classes are difficult but only because of the nature of the the class. Whenever something is not clear he is always more than happy to help as long as you ask for help. trying your very best and take his classes seriously is all he asks for. I took intro, critical thinking, E.E, ancient, religion. I highly recommend his classes.
Amazing instructor who's very passionate about what he does. He takes the time to invest in his students and help you. Can be a little tough. Get ready to read and annotate a lot. Always available during office hours too. He will make you love philosophy and really change the way you think and see a lot of things. I would absolutely take him again.
I took 3 classes with Professor Anelli. He's a great professor and made me love Philosophy.
While there wasn't an exorbitant amount of reading, you had to annotate what you read so reading becomes very time consuming (although if your used to annotating in, this shouldn't be as bad).
Mr. Anelli is one if my favorite teachers ever. His class is hard, but if you're willing to put in the work he is willing to help. Would love to take another one of his classes!
Pretty good professor, defintely recommend
Great professor!
This man is a golden egg! All together the best professor I have taken! He gives incredible lectures, that keep you not only entertained, but constantly thinking. You'll have to work for your grade, but i highly recommend taking any course by him. Philosophy can be a perspective altering subject, especially with this professor!
Be prepared to read alot! very good professor, and keeps his lectures very interesting and engaging. Final is brutal so study!
I took this class in a condensed summer course which was extremely tough, 16 weeks worth of work compiled into 7 weeks - but Mr. Anelli was a great teacher and really challenges you to think about things in a way you haven't before. Great environmental class, highly recommend.
Bill made me want to major in philosophy. I highly recommend this professor. His class was probably one of the easiest classes ive ever taken, despite philosophy being a notoriously difficult class. The work may seem intimidating at first, but its relatively simple, and hes incredibly chill and lenient. His class is just a positive experience
Awful, simply awful
I took this online course this past summer, which was condensed into 5 weeks. There was a decent amount of work and reading, but nothing too difficult. The readings weren't a problem because they were very entertaining. It was by far the most interesting course I've taken in college so far. Professor Anelli is great, you'll enjoy this course!
If you don't show up to lectures, you won't pass. If you don't read all of the material, you won't pass. If you don't follow instructions very very very strictly, you won't pass. Very very very tough grader. Will dock you lots of points even if you mess up 1 thing. Easy to go from an A to an F. Doesn't put in grades often.
Prof Anelli gave great feedback on papers. There is quite a bit of writing in this class but I thoroughly enjoyed the films we watched in this class. He also offered quite a bit of extra credit.
Amazing teacher. I give him so much credit for being able to thoroughly explain such complicated topics. Please take advantage of his office hour because this is an extremely hard subject, when getting 101 he is brutally honest but it is well needed. I really appreciate his patience and help! He made me feel like I was smart and gave me confidence.
System of grading was very confusing, and he rarely graded so it was a guessing game all semester to understand what your grade was in the class. Assigned a 1,800 word paper for midterm and then another 2000 for the final. His lectures were interesting but I do not recommend taking his movies class.
This is not an easy subject but you will get a lot out of it if you put in the work. The grading system is different to the traditional one. It is fair and makes you focus on the quality of the papers you write NOT on the grade.
Not an easy class at all. He barely updates the grade, so you have no clue how you're doing in the course. Doesn't assign a letter grade until the course is over. Prepare to have very little interaction with him and get ready to read from a boring text book. I'm in calc, chem and physics yet this class gives me the most trouble.
Assignments were tedious, and the workload was excessive. Grading system was inefficient and there were significant delays in receiving feedback. Even though I followed the syllabus guidelines in regard to homework, the professor unexpectedly changed the regulations, resulting in an unfair evaluation to avoid taking responsibility for his mistake.
If you want an A, must go the extra mile in each assignment. Many readings, lectures usually sporadic, and has high expectation for student's ability to articulate arguments. Midterms are timed and hybrid of multiple choice/short essay which he posts study guides for, so nothing is a surprise (highly recommend filling it out prior to opening exam).
He uses an unconventional grading method that can be confusing and frustrating. Depending on the assignment, you may not ever earn an opportunity to receive an A in the class if you do not do well enough and the professor expects a lot from each assignment. You also do not know what your grade is for the class until the semester is over
His grading system definitely needs improvement. If you don't "pass" one assignment, you could be out of a good grade. There is just so much unnecessary work involved to get a good grade. His "midterm" and "final exam" are not the easiest and not very specific. He doesn't seem very compassionate.
I have only ever dropped two classes, the first was simply too many units at one and the other being this one. His teaching style is incoherent and incredibly difficult to follow, the lectures are more of a stream of consciousness than a class being taught. His grading style and rubrics are exceptionally difficult to understand.
With Bill you really have to know what you're getting in for. His exams are open note and you will require a LOT of notes to get through them. The papers are fairly straight forward and easy, all you have to do is put an honest effort into them. If you're signing up for this class I'd suggest aiming for a B and enjoying talking with Bill.
Professor Anelli is a great professor. He is engaging, cares about what he teaches, and stands true to his word. He has many opportunities to be successful in his class. The only downside to him, is he has a unique grading system. It is unlike any grading system you will ever see. READ THE SYLLABUS! UNDERSTAND THE SYSTEM, AND YOU WILL SUCCEED!
Lectures go through the readings highlighting and discussing key points of interest. Assignments have a clearly defined rubric which is easy to fit all the points. Unconventional grading system but it is easy to understand. Grades fairly and gives good feedback on argumentation. Tests are open note and not too difficult. Cool class and concepts.
NONTRADITIONAL GRADING SYSTEM. He uses a No pass, Pass, High pass system that is very easy to understand but weird to get used to at first. It lets you really focus on learning rather than being focused on your grade. He's funny and easy to reach out to outside of class.
If you take one of his many classes then its a bit of a shock at first, mainly because of the grading system which is stressful at the start of the semester and a god send at the end because of how its graded. You can pretty much stop working depending on what grade you want at the end of the course, and there are many chances to make up work.
Professor Anelli's class is challenging but engaging. The grading system is unique, emphasizing quality over grades. Attendance is a must, and the final exam is tough, so consistent work and study with unstuckstudy are key to success.
Great class, LOVED ANELLI! He made Philosophy interesting. Many will say the grading was difficult, but I would disagree. It's easy to understand where you'll land and he even gives you a way to find out during the middle of the semester. Every lecture was interesting, he's pretty funny and animated. The finals and exams are curved as well.
I took MHuman101 with him. He was my favorite teacher. Very laid back and sarcastic. We would always talk after class and discuss life. We even had a class potluck! At one point I hadn't slept for days and fell asleep in class, but he just walked over to me, shook my shoulder and asked if I was okay. He's a really good man once you get to know him.
One of my favorite professors by far. His lectures are interactive and makes the subject so interesting. Hes very fun, caring, and easy to talk to. The work was fairly easy though definitely study for the midterm and final. His grading system is different, but it's easy to understand.
I had Professor Anelli for Intro to Philosophy and Philosophy of Religion. Professor Anelli WILL push you to think critically and build upon, confront, and defend your own beliefs. If you want to grow and be able to think like a philosopher, he is your guy. If you value an easy grade more than honest growth and reflection, you'll be disappointed.
I would recommend this class and professor highly. He is fair, runs a fun token system for late assignments, and gets you interested in the topics with humor and good discussion. Fair grader and does not enforce strict paper guidelines (allows a voice). I recommend annotating when reading and coming to class to discuss actively!
Philosophy is not only something learned from texts but something practiced through survival, awareness, and action within social systems.
Professor Anelli is a great teacher and thoughtful and funny person. He will challenge your ideas. You will read and write a LOT. You'll grapple with a lot of difficult problems. He's a tough but very honest grader. Your success in this class is entirely dependent on you. Great professor, will take again!
As much as I don't like philosophy , Professor Anelli makes it interesting and he's very nice and understanding. Make sure you do the annotations and free write ASAP!! He's also kinda funny
