Great history teacher, he is well informed on all subjects pertaining to his class. He makes his lectures fun and involving and makes learning the material both fun and interesting.

Absolutely amazing. One of my favorite teachers ever! He is incredibly helpful and really gets his students involved in the lecture. Also, no homework. Just grades on attendance (trust me, you want to come to his classes anyways) and tests. Tests are right off the notes. You really learn a lot in his class, despite the laid-back nature.

Bill has an "interesting" teaching style that some students might find annoying. He strives to make history "cool" and relevant, but to a fault. If you are a serious student of history you may find excerpts from "The Holy Grail" or "300" slightly aggravating and inappropriate. But, when his ?open note? tests come up, you had better be prepared!

One of my favorite professors. Will take 202 in fall. Great to see a person who is so passionate about what they do. Attendance is required but he understands that life happens, so just keep him informed and you will do all right. This is a class if you love history and like to have fun.

One of the best professors I've ever had. He can come off as corny sometimes, but he genuinely cares about his students and wants to help everyone succeed. It's no wonder I've developed a crush - he's a pretty cool guy. I recommend him to everyone and anyone who wants a really enjoyable classroom experience.

Funny and entertaining makes learning the material a breeze

Not taking his class for history is a crime! He is a very good teacher and a very nice man. He makes the subject fun. You also get use the study guide worksheets on your quizzes. Do the worksheets and attend clas you will pass. He will make you like history.

Simple class to pass, just do the worksheets and have them for the tests. He is there to help you out, and will make you like history. He LOVES what he does.

I had this professor for both my first and second level history classes and I enjoyed being being in the class. He knows his subject matter very well and has a passion for it, which makes the subject matter more interesting. I highly recommend him to others.

Awesome Teacher. I'm currently taking his class!I love to go I have a short attention span but for the 1 1/2HR I'm in there i'm attentive all threw. Others on here make the quizzes sound hard but there only 10 questions open notes. He also has great office hours,returns phone calls & emails. HEADS UP 7-10 PG PAPER DUE @ END OF SEMESTER HE WILL HELP

I have taken this professor twice, for two different classes. the work load really depends on the class taken. whichever class taken, he is knowledgeable and enthused about the subject. Lastly he keeps the class upbeat.

William Ashcraft is the most wonderful and amazing professor ever!

Prof Ashcraft is very passionate about what he teaches, and does a great job expressing it. The work load was a little heavy, but he taught me how to manage my assignments.

He really knows his stuff and has tons of positivity in a new perspective for history. I have had a lot of professors at CCD, but this guy is the ideal image of what I consider a teacher to be.

No one would do this class justice except Ashcraft. He made every part of this course fun, even the Honors part. He is amazing!

I took 2 Classes with this teacher he is the best teacher at CCD I took a Summer Class humanities 121 and History 236 for spring. You read a lot and do study guide are along but you can use them in the quiz very helpful if you have the change to take one of his class you should go for it. you will love it and learn something from his class. :)

I really enjoyed this class. I wrote a 22 page research paper for honors credit and I learned so much. The reading and study guides can be long, but if you put in the effort he will take better care of you. He really likes what he does and is so much fun to be around. He's funny, quirky, and sharp. A great professor for sure.

Really easy professor

the teacher - he is enthusiastic and makes learning about our history enjoyable. This would be a difficult task for me because I have never enjoyed learning about history. He is great about getting everyone involved and all assignments correlate to class, book, papers and exams. I would love to take him again because I had such a great experience.

Bill is an amazing Professor and is whiling to help any one. I took him for history after 1945, and learned so much. I would go in to his office hours to get help and alway left understanding the objective of the paper. If you get a chance to take his class, you will not regret it.

Bill is easily one of the best professors/teachers I've had in my academic career. He really takes the time to engage with students, and is absolutely hilarious. He's extremely open minded and caring. This course was super fun to take, too, and he did a great job of really putting things into perspective given the time frame (US from 1945 and on).

Professor Ashcraft was amazing! He was extremely helpful all semester. He assigns a 20 question quiz every week but allows you to use your study guide so the answers are right in front of you. I would definitely recommend this professor to anyone eager to learn about the history of rock and roll. A++ for this professor!

Ashcraft really cares about his job and his students. His top priority is making sure everyone learns. He definitely makes you work for a good grade, but if you put forth your best effort, he will recognize that.

Adored having him as my teacher, you can tell he truly cares about his students as well as their success. Explains things really well so you are never lost. All you have to do is be in class, do the study guides and come ready for class. Pretty simple!

Free online textbook! Time mngmt. There is a chapter every week which goes along with a quiz, you will get the hang of them after the first one. 4 very small papers and one research paper. He is generous with extra credit so stock up on it, you might need it. Small attendance grade, but it adds up. Learned a lot, hes chill and helpful if you ASK!

He goes above and beyond for his students. He took us from meeting and then to online much better than my other profs --- emailed us to see that we were ok none of my other teachers did that. I wouldn't have done as well without him. I know he cares about me and all of his students.

Hands-down the best professor at CCD. Due to COVID, our class was in ASYNC format, but he prepared each week's material quite well and checked in with us every 3 weeks. Professor Ashcraft is always accessible outside of class and genuinely cares about your success. He always motivates you to succeed. If you must take a HIS course, take one of his.

I have never had a professor like Bill, this man made me wish his class was every day. He gives the most creative and exciting assignments, he cares so much about your success and constantly makes himself available to help. He makes history so interesting and fun you're never bored.
