He was a good teacher because he was funny he emcourageous participation and his test are all formatted the same so you know what to expect I really enjoyed his class

Passionate about Archeology and it shows. Very interesting, funny, and an all around nice guy. If I had any more Anthro classes to take, I'd take them from him. I enjoyed his class very much and would recommend taking him.

Semi hard class, but he's very funny and keeps everything interesting. He requires a lot of participation and discussion about the topics. You get extra credit for telling a joke relevant to the topic.

Best professor I have ever had. Take good notes and never miss class 'cause his tests are all based on his notes. He's hilarious when applying real life with anthro topics and you'll spend so much time laughing you'll forget you're in class.

Doonan or Indiana Jones and I prefer to call him, is totally hilarious. His class is the reason why I look forward to going to school. He really loves this material and that is seen throigh his teaching. Plus he's easy on the eyes :o)

His dry sense of humor will be a big help while trudging thru what can be tedious lectures at times. Expect to see lots of slide (start perfecting your note taking in the dark) Occasional group projects in class always prove to be a good time. Live by the study guides, they will not do you wrong.

Bill is hilarious the lecture cruises along with perfectly timed jokes that make the class squeel like stuck pigs or adolecent girls at a slumber party. Very recomended take good notes and attend lecture=easy A

lectures are fun becuase he's funny and seems to really love the topic. the class is easy if you write really fast, take good notes, and are a good listener. also the tests are not easy, but he's not a hard grader. i would definitely reccomend this class because i learned a lot and had fun.

I don't know if this class was just easy, or if Mr. Doonan is just that good of a teacher. I left knowing a lot more than when I went in and it didn't take that much effort. His humor is probably the spoon full of sugar that helps the medicin go down.

Bill is a very good teacher and makes the subject matter very interesting. His lectures were always very entertaining and he is probably the best teacher I have had at city college. I thought the class was pretty easy, I just read the chapters and filled out the study guide the morning before the tests and got A's on all of them.

Doonan has been one of my favorite teachers at City. Take his classes if you can :)

great teacher, he really gets your interested in his lectures, makes alot of jokes... his exams are all essay form and are pretty open. so theyre easy to write. it takes alot of studying, but he gets you interested so its easy.

Like everyone says, he's alot of fun to listen to, very funny guy which makes the dryer material a little easier to learn. The test were pretty challenging, definately take a least a couple of days to study before a test, if not more. He was a little bit short with some of the students in the online class, but in class he was approachable.

Took online hybrid class...weekly quizes which are multiple choice and have to post in a discussion board..test are essay but he gives you 3 topic to pick from..study!! Zoo assignment is simple..

This dude is pretty sweet and funny as hell. I guarentee youll laugh everyday you have to sin in class. Its hard to take notes in this class but if you read the book before class you will be fine. He has some funny stories and super easy to talk to. Take a class from him.

Sexy and SMART!!! Great stories/jokes that make sense in lecture. Really neat personality but also effective/clear. Had to work for my grade, but it was worth it; I learned a lot. In fact, liked his class so much, I'm taking another this semester. Didn't do ALL the text reading, but definitely read assigned articles (honors=mustparticipate).

His tests are extremely hard, and he doesn't care if he fails people. He will continue saying pointless things in his lectures instead of just letting the class out a few minutes early. There are only 3 tests and a few pop quizzes, so you MUST do well on those since they're all you're graded on!

This guy is phenomenal. He is easily the best teacher I've had in all my 22 years of life. Lectures were always interesting because of his nerdy sense of humor. The quizzes and exams are based on his lectures. Take great notes and you'll be fine. I rarely opened my text book throughout the entire semester. I love this instructor! Take him!

Awesome teacher....completely engaging even in a 3-hour Saturday class! If you go to every class, take good notes and review them regularly then the tests are a breeze. Also, participation is part of the grade, so it's not for the terminally shy. The only downside was the amount of texting going on by the students...so disrespectful and annoying!

He worked with my fiance' and I last semester when our son was born and had he been like some other professors I've had... well I'd be taking Anthro again basically :( Absolutely take this guy if you can! Professor is a great professor. I took him for Antrho300. Class is once a week, he is consistent, which is what I like! He is very knowledgeable there is a quiz once a week and 2 discussion boards! Really easy though, he lets you make them up if you miss the first couple ones. The tests are pretty basic, and he gives you study guides.Recommended!:)

Amazing teacher! Adds subtle humor to the classroom environment which makes it interesting! The tests are all fill in the blank, short answer, and essay.....but very easy if you take notes and follow his study guides. Can't go wrong with this prof!

Keeps the class interesting by being funny. Is genuinely interested in catching every student up to speed. I don't actually do much of the reading, but I get by on lectures. If you're like me, you can get more points by participating. If you don't participate, he'll understandably be a little irritated. NO BUSY WORK. Take this teacher!

Doonan was the Anthro teacher on the study abroad program... he was... GREAT!!! We all loved his classes, he makes them entertaining! GREAT professor. Participate, he keeps track! Study for the tests, even if he says they are easy. Don't underestimate them! haha DOONAN for the win!!!

Doonan is my favorite Professor! Very funny, always makes class interesting. He's very helpful and makes sure that everyone participates in class. I especially like that he doesn't let people interrupt or talk in class when he is speaking. I HIGHLY recommend him!!

Doonan is absolutely hilarious. He keeps people on their toes with his quirky comments, but it makes his lectures all interesting. He uses powerpoints but the only thing on the slides are usually questions that we answer via "clicker" or facinating pictures of the subject matter that he elaborates on.

I often wished this class was offered for two days a week instead of one! There is a good reason why Prof. Doonan's students look forward to going to his class - there is never a boring moment. If you have always thought anth was a boring subject, he will make it interesting for you. He is quite an amazing teacher and makes it so easy to learn.

He presents the material in a pretty clear manner, his lecturing follows the book pretty well. Not to mention he's hilarious, this is the one class I look forward to every week. Not to mention the textbook for this class is extremely affordable.

Interesting class. Very helpful teacher. I was bummed it was only one day a week. Online weekly work is really easy.. just stay on top of it. Mid term paper is easy. I highly recommend reading the book. It helped a lot, especially on discussion boards and on the test. Doonan has strange sense of humor. You'll appreciate it if you're weird, too.

Taking Anthro 310 was really easy. Just show up for the lectures because that's all you need. You don't even need the book at all unless you want to read for fun. He grades lightly, and 20% of the class is already based on participation.

Doonan is an awesome teacher. His lecture style is interesting, and very interactive. I'd advise you to use the book because the tests are hard! He is very helpful, and if you talk to him in office hours you can really bounce ideas and get into the subject. Overall, he's a cool guy and a great teacher.

Doonan is a very good teacher. I had a 7:30 am class M/W. His lectures were totally worth waking up at 6:00. He is very funny and makes things interesting and easy to remember. Attendance is mandatory and so is participation. They both will effect your grade. The test are fair and covers the material from class. Highly recommended take notes& study

This teacher is amazing!He is extremely engagine and funny. I was just going to take the class to fill my GE requirements but I'm glad I took him. I'm not an early bird and even though this class was at 7:30 AM it was so interesting I did not feel sleepy once. Must be on time and participate. He is very understanding and paient. I really wish i put more effort into his class because it would of been an Easy A but with a difficult semester, pulling through with a B was pretty satisfying. If you study more than whats on the Study Guide, you'll do really well. And he's great with questions and concerns about grades. He has great lectures and loves feedback from students.

Very clear and fair. Material needs to be absorbed - no notes, but simple and 100% covered in class. Makes slideshows fun, great sense of humor. Teacher skills on point with fast grading and feedback, plenty of time for questions and keeps office hours and appointments. ANTH should be the most important class you take in school. IMPORTANT STUFF!

If I could retake this class just to listen to prof I would! He is completely hilarious and uses real life examples that really help the information stick. His expectations are clear and test were very straight forward. If you don't pass this class you are just plain lazy. Be prepared to participate tho, his classes are more like conversations

Doonan is hilarious. I would easily take this class just to listen to his lectures. He made me LOVE Anthropology. I would take him over and over. He is hilarious. It's a fairly simple class, remember to participate, you will need it. Doonan is the best.

Assignments: You have plenty of time to submit ahead of time. If you do and the work isn't 100%, he'll give you the feedback you need to get a better grade. He provides the class with study material outside of simply the text (online videos, etc). Great class!

He is super easy and you are going to get an A as long as you participate. He is also very funny and he has been to a lot of places before so he tells stories of his times in different countries. I had him for my morning class and he would wake me up and I wanted to get to his class. I got a C- on my final and got an A in the class. Test are easy

Some teachers are kind of funny, but this guy could be a working comic. The lessons are his premises, and then he drops punchlines... So to get the joke you actually have to (and want to) listen to everything. Not a pushover, I really respect him and love coming to class. I've learned a lot.

Doonan has engaging lectures, and participation is class is a good part of your grade. He doesn't use overhead lecture notes, so be prepared to listen carefully and write fast. If you are a visual learner you might want to reconsider. He will repeat things if you ask. Study guides for exams are clear and helpful. He is hilarious though, fun class

Straightforward online course. Class is laid out in the syllabus and schedule is followed with no surprises. Weekly requirement for a 5 min/5 question quiz that's tougher than it sounds and 150 word essay. There are 3 exams incl. final that account for 60% of grade. Study his notes & read textbook & you'll pass easily. No lectures. Good class.

SUPER ORGANIZED! If you are not ready to read chapters 2-3 times to understand don't take! Submit work early and he will grade and give feedback for you to get a better grade. You get your grades back ASAP. Even though hard I would take again.

I took his online class during the summer and it was alright. If you read your material you'll do good on the quizes. There were only 3 tests but they were really easy. If your confused on the short essay's you can always contact him and ask, he is really good at answering back.

He is very clear about what he wants. There are pop quizzes but he let's you know how many there will be and they are pretty common sense. Great sense of humour, really quirky. He's very interactive with the studeents and promotes discussion.

Dr. Doonan says everything in lectures that are going to be on the exams, so make sure that if you missed a definition do ask him! I didn't need any books, and passed with an A+. DO NOT BE LATE! you'll miss the quizzes and he will lock the door! If he sees you're interested, he will help you. I failed the first exam and still managed to get an A.

I'm an anthro major and it's because of great instructors like Bill. His lectures are engaging and he's got a sense of humor. You will watch movies and they will be important, so take more notes than necessary. You'll also want to get involved in the conversation- not only will it make understanding the lectures easier, you will get points.

Doonan is a good professor, hes very clear of what is going to be on the exams. There are 3-4 pop quizzes, but if youre paying attention in class you should do fine on them. (5 questions) you watch 4 films in class & hes very knowledgeable. Pay attention & you should be fine.

I think everyone should take this class with this professor. Participation is imperative if you'd like to keep your grade up. As long as u attend lectures & take notes, u should be okay without the book. His study guides tell you exactly what is going to be on the test & the tests themselves are not hard if you pay attention & review you'll do well

I absolutely loved Professor Doonan and was very sad that Corona virus cut our class time short. Amazing lectures that I never got bored in, and the funniest professor at Sac City. Super unique sense of humor and he made you want to do well. Wish I had taken him sooner, got my money's worth!! Love this professor!

I think that his anthropology class was the most fun I had in a class in college. Very entertaining and interesting guy.

This class was overall pretty good, would recommend if you need to take the class and maybe other professors are full. You definitely need the textbook and to read through his notes he posts. Weekly discussions and quizzes. Exams were straight forwards. Sometimes his feedback can feel mean but I really don't think he means anything by it.

Professor Doonan's readings and modules are pretty straight forward, and as long as you do the necessary work and assignments, you're guaranteed to get an A in his class. He always provides feedback on how to do your work better and allows you to revise essays until you get a perfect score. I highly recommend taking his class!

Doonan was super great and his lectures were super entertaining! Aside from reading the chapters every week, there was virtually no homework except to study for the exams. You do have to pay attention during class time, participate (20% of final grade), take notes, and take pop quizzes. If you want an easy A, take his class!
