Very knowledgeable in the subjust matter but he is extremly boring. He needs more class participation instead showing his vacation slide shows. He's not a very good communication professor because he doesn't communicate with students during class.
He should not be in communication. How he has lasted this long is beyond me.
Very unhelpful and spiteful in some of his comment. Made many cry and drop the class.
I hope you are a mind-reader. Because unless you are in his head there is no way to really figure out the answers to his questions. Trust me, take him, and you will know what I mean.

I enjoyed the class, yes he gets carried away with his stories and yes he tests on them, but that's his way to make sure we're listing and that we attend class each day (he doesn't really take role)
Prepare to make speeches over peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and household cleaning products.Edwards does not prepare students for the real world or other classes in which speeches are required.Tests involve irrelivant topics and memorizing long lists
Dr. Edwards does not TEACH! He isn't very clear on instructions and assumes you are going to read the chapters and memorize the lists. He takes off for every little thing on your speeches. I would advise you not to take him.

Horrible. Writes his own texts book, which is ridiculous. A lot of memorizing lists. Brings up sexual topics, which I found inappropriate even for Interpersonal Comm. Has sexual topics on tests. Boring, just drones on w/ monotone voice. Avoid him.
The class is easy, IF you pay attention and do the assignments. IMAGINE! I feel his motives are very misunderstood. He lets you choose topics because he wants you to be able to relate it to your life. He is a bit eccentric about the lists, but it was fun. And who can complain about a $3 textbook?
DO NOT TAKE FROM THIS PROFESSOR!!! Avoid him if possible. I dropped his class because he told me to use my confussion to study. He thinks he is the best teacher in the world when really he is the worst.

This man is insane!All you do is memorize stupid list that are in his OWN textbook.The test are very hard and most of the stuff he goes over in class does not even appear on the test. When it comes to speeches,you may think you're doing an excellent job and you may even ask him for assistance but he doesn't clarify the guidelines. AVOID HIM.
Want to screw up your college career? Take this prof. He doesn't help and doesn't care if you pass or not. He is full of himself. Comm is not his field as he doesn't communicate well. We spend lots of time getting pictures taken even when he has taken it for the last many terms. Spent a whole class discussing everything but comm. I needed comm
dear sweet jesus! my advice on how to survive: pick the answer that makes the least amount of sense. find friends who will laugh at the bizarre stories in the texts that HE PUBLISHES! who knows what happened to the pictures he always took in class?
He is boring... but he means well. He is a teacher I like.... but the class sucks. He does bring up sexual things a lot, but he can't help it.... he's never been married and he's around college freshman girls all day.
Dr.Edwards is a very nice man. I do admit that his teaching sucks and his expectations are very high. If you decide to take this class just keep in mind that it is hard work but you will be happy with your success at the end.
The class is easy if you study and pay attention. The only way you wouldn't do well is if you are absent a lot or don't try to study for the tests. He is helpful and very nice. I am glad I didn't pay attention to what everyone else said about his class.
I am glad that I didnt listen to alot of these posts. I was scared, but Dr. Edwards turned out to be very nice. He is eccentric, but he is very friendly, and cheerful. If you like memorizing stuff, the tests are easy. The speechs are pretty easy too. I was scared to death about speaking in front of ppl, but he made it comfortable. I recommend him.

People who just want a free grade maybe this isn't the class for you, maybe college isn't for you. I don't know how you can break down public speaking any clearing or simpler. If you don't mind learning something along the way take this class from this instructer.
What ever you do, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. he is a pain in the a**. He wrote his own text book and is very egotistical about it. Drop this class for another teacher, I hear davis is not good either. DROP DROP DROP DROP DROP DROP DROP

never take edwards!! how can i make that any clearer, and im a good public speaker, i give speeches all the time and im good at it, and he still gave me a D for my speaking I made an A on my tests so i ended up with a C in the class and hes a **** about everything his teaching style blows
Unless your college career depends on taking one of Edward's classes- stay away! Take it from an upper-level COMM major. Public Speaking is nothing compared to his other courses and he is the worst professor the COMM dept. has.
Just take him and get it over with. Thats all i have to say. He is unclear about everything he wants you to do in class, so ask a lot of questions. Nice guy, but bad teacher.

He means well but is totally confusing, does not communicate well and could be damaging to the communications department, because of him I've considered changing my major.
I actually liked him. He is a nice guy and is funny. I think anyone can do well in his class...you just have to attend and pay attention!

His class was fun, although his grading seemed to be a little "questionable" sometimes on the tests and etc. The speeches were easy, just follow his guidelines and you'll ace them. He's goofy and kinda weird, but I really enjoyed it honestly.
One of the worst teachers I have had. Our books arrived on campus late, and we were supposed to have a week to study for our first exam. It ended up being 24 hours after the books were delivered, which the test came straight from.. Oh, and he wrote the book. He refused to drop or curve the grades, so more than 50% of the class dropped.
Dr. Edwards is a nice guy. Honestly! Depending on what class you have him for you might be in for a rough time though. The Inter-Comm class is easy enough if you just come to class, listen to his stories,& read. Research sucks. LOL! Like I said, he's nice, but he can't explain anything well. Oh...and don't ask questions. You won't get an answer...

Dr. Edwards is a nice man, but don't take his class. It's ridiculous, you'll memorize pointless lists, and there's no method to the grading of the speeches. If you take his class wear sunglasses to prevent yourself from gouging your eyes out. He will not answer your questions.
Dr. Edwards is really nice, but he can't speak very well at all, and you'll never know what he's trying to say. Oh, and don't ask him a question, because he'll talk for ten minutes and not even come close to answering it.
Well, how can I say this? AVOID UNLESS ACADEMIC DEATH IS WHAT YOU CRAVE!!!!! He is a very nice man, and will work with you, BUT!!!....only gives three STUPID tests in the first month of a five month course. Idiot! If your average doesn't come up to par, you can't drop the class by the time you find out you're stuck in a class you CAN'T PASS.
This was not a fun class. It is the one i hate going to most. Not a good class at all.
I took Dr Edwards this summer and I DON'T RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE WHO HAS A BRAIN. This man has NO SENSE OF TIME & TALKS TO DANG ON MUCH(off topic).. I was overall passing the class BUT because of those 3 STUPID exams, he told me I was not going to pass... The idiot even tried to encourage me to stay in the class...HUGE WASTE OF TIME & MONEY..
He is a very nice professor however we only had three tests for our online course that were worth the majority of our grade.Two of the tests were on roughly 11 chapters which led to endless memorization of vocab and scholars.I tried to drop the class but missed the deadline. Try to find another professor to take this class from, if not, good luck!!
He loves to ramble when a question is asked. If you don't pass the 3 tests you're removed from the class. He wrote the textbook so there is a lot of grammatical errors in it. Don't waste the $7 for it...it'll be online in CougarView. If you're not energetic with your speeches your grade will suffer BIG TIME!! Take someone else...PLEASE!!

Edwards is absolutely horrible!!!! He doesn't explain well and he takes offense to any and everything. His application test are opinionated as well as his grading scale. Ive taken him twice (not by choice) and I absolutely dread his classes!!!!
he was a great teacher you just have to put the time and effort into the work or itll show in your grade. you have three tests then goes into your speeches and your clearly given what is expected and what the content of tests and assinments are. great teacher
NEVER TAKE AN ONLINE EDWARDS CLASS. Not only will he require twice as much work as a normal class, he'll also post vague, confusing guidelines that change throughout the semester. I didn't think it could be more frustrating than having to deal with him in person, but I was very wrong.
He states clearly the material that the students should read and go over for the test and if taking any in person classes i suggest that you attend all the classes or you will miss out on material needed for the test
I've had Dr. Edwards for several classes both in classroom and online. He is fair, helpful, and genuinely concerned for students. His tests are hard, but he gives you a study guide. Attendance is very important and can affect your grade. Ask questions, he is always available!
INTERPERSONAL: He is very airy, but his tests are airtight. You really have to read between the lines with him. He is odd in person, but his class was weird. Everywhere, but no where at the same time. Read. Especially for Interpersonal. READ! Bring a highlighter and if he says you have to memorize it, highlight it. It will be on the test. Trust.
As a COMM major, I took several classes with Dr. Edwards. He is very dedicated to the students and their learning progress. Yes, his tests are hard but if you listen in class and study you will pass. He is eccentric & veer particular so follow his directions carefully. I learned the most from this professor!
Dr Edwards tests are hard and his online does require alot of work but he makes everything crystal clear in many different ways He is not odd or weird You can talk to him about anything and he is a very effective communicator The more you know and understand him the better you will do in his class. Hope you have a good memory!
Dr. Edwards is truly a nice guy. Class was always entertaining because he his hilarious, i don't think he means to be though. Test and speeches are easy. Don't ask him anything because he talks way too much. He isn't the best teacher, for godsakes he wrote his own textbook. but he is a nice guy. I do recommended this class though

I WOULD NOT recommend this class to anyone. He does not answer the questions you ask he goes off on another tangent. He is very air headed and talks very bad to be a communications teacher. His test are pretty easy BUT his speeched are NOT and you have to do TONS of them throughout the semester. Would not take him again
Dr. Edwards is a pretty nice guy but he doesn't answer questions well and goes off on tangents a lot but still decent teacher. You have 3 exams in the first month of the class and the rest are speeches. The exams are easy if you study but the speeches are pretty hard. Just study for the three exams and you should be fine for the rest of the class.
Dr Edwards is the resident expert on communication. Literally wrote the book. The iClicker was a laid back fun way to earn easy points. Speaking is most of the grade, no way around it, so get over the fears early and succeed. The book material and tests will be a troublesome thing, just study well.
Horrible instructor. His tests consist of a listing page, 10 nonsense items, 10 listening skills, etc. Doesn't like questions. Doesn't teach anything. I clicker questions are ridiculous. Don't take his class. Take a speech class where you actually get to speak.
Dr. Edwards is willing to work with anyone that is putting in a genuine interest in course work. No tests after the first month of the class, but they have a heavy empasis on memorization.I would take his class again, but it is not for the unmotivated.
This class is not easy but it is not hard.Just come to class, read the text book and do really well on your speeches. keep track of your grades cause he does lose track of grades. It is not hard to get an A.
Easy class! All he expects you to do is your discussion and responses..the tests were basically everything that he went over in his powerpoints.
His pass/fail requirement is ridiculous. You take 3 exams in the first half of the semester. If your scores on the exams do not average out to be above a 60 you have failed the course and there is no rounding up or bringing it up. You are still required to attend class. If you make above a 60, there is still a chance to bring your grade up.
Dr. Edwards is a kind person. However, his class will not be kind if you just try to breeze through it. He does not answer questions clearly. You'll have 3 exams before any speeches. The exams are basically memorization. If you STUDY you will pass. Great rubrics for the speeches so it's pretty easy to get a passing grade. It's possible to get an A!
Completely busy work. Two discussions due a week with two unit tests and a final. As usual with Edwards, he's incredibly nice but he is useless if you need help. His tests are also over very minor information. Ex: Instead of asking actual content-related questions, asks the name of a person in an example anecdote.
Dr. Edwards is absolutely useless. His classes offer nothing but confusion and he offers no clarity at all. Don't bother to ask him to explain something because his "answer" will just confuse you even more. Several friends of mine have filed complaints against him but they were told that, because he is tenured, there is nothing that can be done.
At best Dr. Edwards is incoherent. At worst, he's just plain awful.
He speaks so much, in a monotone voice, often about nothing helpful. Don't ask him any questions because he'll ramble on for ages and only confuse you more. He is a kind man, but kindness doesn't help students understand a topic. He's vague and frustrating, but if you apply yourself you can get an A. It's just unpleasant to get there.
His tests are EXTREMELY easy. He grades his speeches harder. Do well on the tests in the first half of the semester and you'll be fine. There are 3 tests all in the beginning of the semester, and 4 speeches in the second half. He loves iclicker questions! We have probably answered about 1000 of them so it is a must to buy it and participate. Easy A

His test cover EXACTLY what is on the study guides he gives you. They are mostly remembering lists. The speeches are easy and as long as you follow his guidelines its a super easy A.
