Ok, Bill is really good. His assignments are really long & hard, tests r easier
dude gotta give a brother a break
Nice guy!, and goes out of his way to give students extra help!
Doesn't help us at all. - When I worked at the pipeline...
Starting to change my opinion on this guy... He's OK!
If you are a football jock, he'll love ya. If not, you're a second class student
Without his help I would never have passed..greatest teacher on campus
knows his stuff, doesn't know how to present it. overall good guy.

a sequence cash flows, what do we call it,,,,scilence,,,,,annuity
Very good professor your hands will hate you though gives tons of notes but these are very heplfull with tests/exams.Always at the university and always willing to help.
Great teacher. Makes class interesting and he gives good notes! Make sure you get him for Finance!
Unintelligent. Overly friendly. Cocky. Incompetent. He's "All talk, no action". If you want a good prof for FINANCE, take Boabang. Boaboang also writes all the exams so you're better off anyways.
Great teacher, and doesn't pull 'quick ones' on the exams. It is evident he likes to teach and is not like other profs in the Commerce dept. who think they're superior, and often try to prove it on exams.... (Gorman....)
Fletcher is hte best teacher ever!!!!
If you're a guy...too bad 4 u
as far as finance profs goes, him or bobang are the best. he gives lots of examples.
Bill is the man....PLAIN AND SIMPLE!!!! can you imagine having Bill in the summer, your hand would fall off from taking some many notes. Imagine, 3 hours, my hand is aching after an hour and 15 mins. any how,,take Bill,
He is awesome. Good luck with the PHD, Fletcher.
Class is harrrd...too much material, my brain hurts...good guy i guess
Fletch likes to give lots of notes and examples which help with assignments and preparing for exams, so make sure you don't miss class. He is always available for help.
The Best Finance teacher ever. Believes in lots of work to make you understand the work. long midterms and Finals that make you work fast if you know the material if not (copying assignments) will show and will have no symathy.
Great prof, has the finance course running very very smoothly. Great notes, great classes.
He is a good professor

Needs to do less writing on the board this is not a class for journalism.... some finance profs photocopy which saves time and energy. Needs to talk lasee about sports and more about finance
BEST PROF TO TAKE THESE COURSES WITH. HR GIVES ALOT OF EXAMPLES PLUS HE SETS THE MIDTERMS AND FINALS.
Great proff to take this course with. I recommned you avoid taking it in the summer for the fact that he gives out alot of notes.
how many ways can u spell ****.. ****. hes all about sports and will embarras u when u go and see him to ask a question
He's the best prof to take this class with. Lots of notes, examples and he is genuinely interested in the material which makes it interesting - if you can believe finance can be interesting :/
I respect him very much as a professor. True that he will make you write like hell (aver.9 pages/class). But he know his stuff and he is willing to help you if you seek his help. Still he is tough with students and will make you work.
As arrogant as they come but he knows his stuff by heart and tells you exactly what you need to know for a test. If you're prepared to have a teacher think your entire class is a bunch of morons then take him, you'll understand the material better and get a far better mark than the other profs.

A bit too arrogant!! There is too much writing notes and not enough examples.....He is a waste of space. Very condescending!!
He's an ****. Very condescending and thinks he's hot stuff. There is no need to be such a jerk. This *could* be a good course with a different prof.
Quit crying! This man is a great teacher. Lots of notes, but very helpful for assignments, mid-term, and exam!
Be prepared to a lot of work for a B or a C. I only knew one guy who got an A. He gives good notes, but screws you over on extremely long assignments and exams. Total jerk though.
very very bad and is very rude
A good teacher who gives lots of examples. Pompous and arrogant, unless you are a jock, and then he loves you. Lots of work, especially for assignments that are worth 2% of your final grade.

He is an intimidating prof; however, he really knows his subject. You will learn a lot from him, and if you work HARD, you can get a good grade. The exam isn’t that challenging as long as you know your subject.

Fletcher is approachable out of class. He is not very clear when answering questions. It would help if he explained things at the students level. Fletcher is a good professor but I have had better. He knows the subject though.
Very approachable out of class. He was always willing to help out if you needed to ask him questions
Recipe to Success: Go to class, study your notes, go for extra help, do your assignments, and you will do well. Fletcher is a good guy. He will challenge you, but his heart is in the right place. Ask him about RTFQ! Thanks Fletcher.
Excellent Prof. Captures interest in subject matter and relates real world examples to what is being taught in class. I heard so many negatives going in I was worried. I would take him again in a heartbeat.
All those comments about how only athletes do well in his class are nonsense. He's very fair to all his students and is willing to help out. It's true he's very demanding and even a bit intimidating the first day of class...but by now you're probably in 3rd year university, get used to it.
Fletch knows his stuff, and the notes are really helpful. Does examples in class instead of pointing to powerpoint slides. Super approachable and easy to get along with as long as you work hard, taking his class again for FIN 361.
This man had an e-mail from a foreign student poster on his office window. He picked apart the english, ignoring the finance questions, and roughly said, "You've wasted your time in university since you haven't yet learned english." I've since looked for this very disgusting letter to complain but it's dissapeared.

Is not able to teach! Get Cottreau, when you can, she is a lot better!!!
One of BEST profs in the U. Gives lots of examples and if you need help he will spend hours with you. Light hearted guy but very straight-forward. Go 2 class & read the book 4 the mulitple choice questions. He makes the classes easier and preps you well for th exams. Took him for 361 after he tutored me at got me an 80 on the 360 final. Also got me
He is very good Pro in U,his class notes are very helpful for assingments and exams.
Very Smart! Give notes in all his classes which help alot in the tests. If you show up to every class he will remember you and therefore like you. If you ask for help he will assist you with no Problem.
You will understand every single work he says! Truly one of the greatest profs in SMU. Enjoyed his class very much.
Well organized which breaks you into an routine where you can't miss. Fletcher is highly reliable and one of the clearest profs you will ever find. If you attend class he will go to bat for you in refrences and extra curricular efforts. A good guy if you're not a pain in his ass. Very effective at weeding out nussances in class.
madman
Great prof, gives examples that are easy to understand and helpful! He always has time to review your assignments and offers extra study sessions before exams. He's pretty funny too!
very very very hard professor ok he knows whats he doin but u have to write alooot in his class and very very hard exams avoid him and go for couttrue
Worst prof ever. Says the stupidest jokes and is no help at all. Avoid him if you can.
Fletcher rules. everyone who gave him a bad rating just thinks they should be able to float through school and get an A. put in a bit of work on the assignments and dont fall asleep in class and you will do well. he got me and 4 of my friends in the A range so hes not bad at all.uses good examples and is really easy to understand.
I really dont know what to say, hes the most sarcastic person ive ever seen alive! He has brilliant knowledge of finance but he shouldnt put students down if they dont know the material as much as he does. This class was pure hell
Fletcher is an awesome prof, his lectures are clear and his class notes are awesome. However he is not for everyone, lazy people should avoid him as he requires they actually do some work.
Prof. Fletcher brings it down the most common denominator. He can't make it much easier than he already does, go to class, take notes, get any extra help you need and practice, practice, practice. There's no rocket science, short of writing the exam for you, teaches everything you need to succeed! If you want a direct answer, ask a direct question!
Honest to god, this man is the definition of a bad professor. You write an enormous amount of notes instead of actually DOING math in the class, he's arrogant, extremely sarcastic, very unapproachable.. Overall just an awful professor. I know several A+ students that were forced to drop the class because of how inept he was. Give me my money back.
You will regret it your whole life if you take finance class with this guy. I'm going to my third year and for all the 20 courses i've taken, I only got two Bs, others are all either A or A+. I got an A+ for finance 1. With this prof i only got 78/108 for the midterm ..now i'm retaking it with prof suzanne and got 101/104 on the midterm...
I'm talking it right now with this prof and we just got our midterm back..the highest mark in the class is 80 and the lowest is 35
Not a very personable guy. Seems like he gets pleasure out of making things difficult for students.
He is very easy not to like. But... This course is hard regardless and he does cover everything you need to know. You can't miss one class or you'll fall behind and fast. If finance is your thing, you'll be fine, if it's not, you're in trouble no matter who you have, so just work hard and go to every class.
If you like writing notes, take Fletcher. You don't really learn a whole lot in the class because you are so worried about missing anything he writes down. Take Cottreau or Mishra.
Really bad prof. Don't take Finance courses with him unless you really have to ! His notes are useful. If you have full notes you'll pass the course. Be ready to write and a looot and understand them later..! Not recommended unless you have no other choice but him ! He seems to enjoy making life difficult !!!
The class is hard, so yes, Fletcher is hard. But he gives a lot of notes, which are VERY helpful. Go to class, and re-read your notes, and there are no problems.
Fletcher is a fat idiot who enjoys stressing students out and making their lives miserable. Doesn't use powerpoints, instead you must take endless pages of notes each class. Seems he is just here to get a few more years of salary before he retires. Avoid him at all costs!
provides good notes, prepares you well for assignments and exams. study and you'll do well.
I never had this guy for Finance 1 or 2 but he wrote the final exam for 3361 and HOLY CRAP i wanted to scream every swear word in my vocab at him. He seems to get his jolly's from tricking students and making them screw up. he doesn't use blackboard so goodluck finding practice problems to study from.
this guy rocks, he make you write lots of notes but all this will prepare you for the exams, make sure you read your notes very cafefully and do the assignments and know them well and you will be fine and if you want a very good grade try to find practice problems from other stuent or on the p drive. he is fair and prepare you for the real world.
Rhymes off pages of notes, can write up to 11 pages a class. Notes are key for midterms, midterm and notes are key for final. Never opened textbook. Lots of help on p-drive with old assignments and exams. He does try and trick you on midterm and final by giving you too much info, so its an added step trimming away fat. Nice guy though.
Fletcher loves his notes. Goes extremely fast with writing them, so keep up and pay attention. They are extremely useful in helping prepare for the exams. Previous midterms help immensely when studying. Supposed to be one of the hardest classes in the business program, and it is. So study, go to class, and pay attention and you will do fine.
One of the best professors I have had at SMU he is very nice and always accomodating if you do the reading before class and go to class and take notes and listen you will have no problem passing this course! I am expecting a C+ in the course and I feel like I didnt have to study that much because he makes it so easy to learn!
Professor Fletcher is by far the best professor at Saint Mary's let alone in the Finance department. He is that one professor in your university career you hope to find, due to the tremendous impact they will have on your life. DON'T be afraid to talk to him during his office hours, this is when you will learn the most.
Before going to class I heard the meanest things about him...but yet i still gave him a try..GET TO KNOW HIM HE IS AWESOME...people may look mean but he is a really cool GUY...Got a A- in is class he is not as bad as people say he is..He stated from the being if his teaching style is for you you will pass...If you dont understand GO TO HIM..
Bill was my favourite professor during my entire time at SMU. Those who say he didn't care about students obviously didn't go to him for help. There were a lot of notes and no ppt, but this stuff you learn by taking notes, not reading slides. Spent a lot of time on assignments and preparing for midterm/final, but what he taught was on the exams.
He read us all his bad RMP comments on the first day. I don't really understand all the bad feedback! He was thorough, willing to help outside class, and used a decent amount of humour. Sure there was a lot of note-taking, but it helped me learn, and it came in handy for assignments. If he taught the next level of finance, I'd take it with him!
I hate Finance, I don't get it and I had to work my butt off. Bill is the reason I passed, from answering my questions, telling me I could do it and even asking how I was doing during both the midterm and exam. He cared.
Bill is a legit good guy. Get to know him and talk to him if your having problems he doesnt bite. Enjoyed this course WAAAY more than the first FINA and thats becasue of Bill. Gets off topic easy but not a bad thing cause of all the notes.
Bill is a very fair professor. The midterms and exams are essentially the same questions that come from the assignments (that he posts the answers to online) and he also provides practice exams from previous years. Any time I needed extra help on assignments or a concept for an exam he would help in his office. I got an A+ and didn't use the book!
I am recent grad of saint Mary's, scored a job with big 4's. I had mr. Fletcher for finance 1&2 and he is one of the best prof. I am not all A's student or spends billion hours studying, but I respect quality learning which prof. fletcher can provide you. If you only care about grades, don't like hard work and like easy grades - Don't take him.
worst prof I've had at SMU and entire my life. terrible writing skills.
Fletcher was amazing at teaching Finance level one and two. He makes you take a lot of notes if you want to. His examples are specific so you have something concrete to study with for exams and to do assignments. Do the work in his class and you will understand Finance better than any other prof can teach you.
Bill makes you take a lot of notes, which for me was great! If you go to his office he's super helpful. If you show determination and put in effort, he will match that effort to help you achieve the grade you want. For a class I found to be incredibly difficult, he made it bearable. Definitely worth taking with him.
Fascinating topic that can be hardboring for some. Bill is one of the best profs I have had. Straight forward guy that knows his stuff and is more than willing to help out. He was always there when I had a questions even helped me deciding on my finance major. Take him but do your work. Be ready and ask away!
Bill is a solid prof, he makes you write 3-4 pages of notes per class (depending on how big you write) which helps you pay attention. The material is very challenging, so if you have a question, ask him! He knows all the ins and outs of finance so ask away, he loves answering questions. He does like to call out the class, even when we don't know
Tough, but fair. He prepares you with tons of great examples and really goes into depth on everything you need to know. I enjoyed his class so much I took FIN2 with him. In my opinion he's the best Fin prof at SMU.
Finance is a hard course. Fletcher is a knowledgable prof and can help you do well in the course.
Bill receives a lot more hate than he really should. He is an old school prof with old school techniques, but they work. His class is all note taking, BUT if you take good notes, everything that you could possibly be tested on is in your notes. He really tries to help those who show that they are trying. He has no patience for cell phones/tardiness
Good guy
I really did not enjoy class with Prof Fletcher. I hated his old-school teaching style, and think he could be a lot more efficient and cover a lot more info if he didn't spend the entire class writing down every. single. word that comes out of his mouth. He could be funny, but was usually a bit arrogant/condescending and loved to ramble.
Bill is a good prof. His lectures are old school and a little boring, as he writes all the notes in class on a projector, but the way he walks through examples really helps breakdown the content. If you participate in class and show effort with your work, you will do well.
Finance 1 was the hardest course I've taken at SMU (lol and I thought Quant 1 and 2 were a breeze...) Fletcher made it manageable. He gives pop quizzes, so go to class. He goes on funny rants about things that kinda(?) relate to finance (the Corn Flakes talk was my fav) It really helps the time go by faster. He makes the best of a tough class.
Billy will really test you on rates, TVM, bonds, a few stock aspects, capital budgeting, and financial statements. Lots of quizzes so go to every class, take voice recordings if you have trouble writing out all of his lectures. Really lucked out of final after getting -A on the midterm. These are the things that you get into in the biz world.
Bill is awesome. Finance is known to be a tough course, but if you attend lectures and stay off your phone (you will get called out), it's very manageable. Skipping class is not an option, as you write up to 15 pages of notes in a 3 hour long class. He does SO MANY examples! Show up, try hard and you'll be fine.
He's a great teacher and really knows what he's doing. I would stay on his good side and show up to all classes on time. Tough marker but also fair. He's old school so likes to hand write all his notes (chicken scratches) on a projector rather than using powerpoint slides. Show up to class and pay attention and you'll pass.
Bill is one of the best profs I have had at SMU. I liked his teaching style so much i took both Finance 1 and 2 with him. Both are hard courses and he genuinely wants you to pass and do well. If you attend class, stay engaged and pay attention to his problems you will do very well. Would highly recommend!
Bill is the man. He's been doing this forever so he knows what he's doing. He's old school, he makes you work for your marks and he expects you to attend class and keep your phone away. Not too much to ask. Pay attention to his examples and take good notes and you'll do well.
Bill is a pretty good prof, very helpful when you go to his office hours. Classes are very boring and will not let you use your phone or let alone have it on your desk. Has some really funny stories, overall good guy
Respected guy but very old school- no phones, no presentation slides, just him and his projector and 5-10 pages of notes per class. He's fairly good at teaching but isn't great at understanding and answering questions in class, much better in his office hours. Unless you have friends in another section, if you don't go to class forget about passing
Everyone told me not to take professor Fletcher but I have heard of his teaching methods and I love the old school approach, if you want power point slides then this is not your prof. I have a medical condition and he helped me through my exams unlike any prof I have encountered at SMU. Thank you sir I would take your class again any day!
Fletcher has an old school approach to teaching. He writes notes throughout the whole class, so be prepared to take lots of notes. He is very knowledgeable on the subject at hand. This is by far one of the hardest courses I've ever had to take. He is a tough but fair marker.
I really did not enjoy his class. Very boring and very demanding. I understand the usage of old school approach, but he literally wants you to write everything he says, up to 10 pages a class, he thinks it's the only class in the university you have to write notes for. He writes fast and most of the time I could not understand what he was writing.
If you take a class with Fletcher, you need to be ready to never skip class (he is not very understanding that sometimes you cant make it to class) and are 100% paying attention in class. The class is super fast pace and he does not make it any easier on students, alots of notes, alot of quizzes and assignment, hard assignment, midterms and final.
This is my second time taking a course with Prof Fletcher (not by choice..) and luckily this time around I managed to pass the course (albeit with a C). I worked HARD for a C, when I am usually a A/B student. Although his style of teaching isn't for everyone and he grades extremely hard, I think he really does want his students to do well.
Professor Fletcher is not my favourite prof. He's a vicious grader (give him exactly what he wants, how he wants it or else). He is super demanding, condescending, does not really help you. When all classes were moved online. He just gave us the slides and said "figure it out". Also misgraded an assignment, and won't fix it (I tried everything)
Worst teacher I have had at SMU. Provides no quality practice material and genuinely does not care whether you pass or fail. Class average was a 58% on the midterm, he provided no feedback and bragged about how tough his class is. SMU does a disservice by allowing this dinosaur to continue teaching such a vital course. Avoid this professor.
I found this course difficult but Bill is an awesome prof! He uses a projector rather than PowerPoint and he doesn't typically post notes on brightspace, so you'll need to go to every class. He explains things in detail, provides lots of examples and is very open to questions. I would definitely take one of his classes again!
Hes not the best but not the worst. Doesnt allow you to use your phone. Tries to embarrass you when you do use it. Hes really particular on what he expects from you. Doesnt care if you pass or fail. He will just tell you to drop the course. Read the textbook. The final wasnt fair.
Prepare to a) get a weekly tutor - you will need one unless you are a finance genius and b) learn everything yourself through the textbook and online resources. Fletcher provides a few examples in class but will test you on extremely difficult, apply the knowledge type questions that he does not go over in class. Also, he still uses the P-drive :(
Lots of homework, Something is not in the slides, also never give feedback of homework and reply emails. Lecture only read the slides, useless.
First off, all this cat does is talk about himself as if he's more evolved than his pupils. He will take any chance he can--or free up space like KD--just to talk about how good he is at teaching, his multiple degrees, or his storied history in the private sector. His class is boring and just reading the slides will do. An easy pass but no fun.
He's rude and grades without any feedback.
Bill is the best prof at SMU. He cares for the students who make an effort in his class.
Just finished his class for the spring online semester. A very intelligent prof but his attitude and approach to the class discouraging. He comes across very condescending, sarcastic & rude. He does not care if you fail the course & puts certain measures in place to ensure u do. Read the textbook, practice his problems & rewatch his lectures.
