Good teacher! Material starts out very easy until the first midterm.
decent
Very straight to the point and, speaks softly.

great to talk to if you needed help, very fair
confusing
He's very straight forward. No trick midterm questions. A very good teacher overall. Also his midterm and final review sheets are just about all you need to ace the tests.
Knows his materials. Speaks using complex mathematical terms, but somehow you understand exactly what he's trying to say. Lectures clear and helpful, tests over basic/easy (class avg. around 85%). Study the review sheets to get an A on every test! :-)
His lectures were pretty good but he didn't seem to want to challenge his students (for example he didn't give us a final because he didn't want to grade it). This could be good or bad depending on if you like Math or if you are an Engineer :).
Straight forward guy.
One of the best teachers for Calc. Exams are tough
He always seems available for help. Lectures sometimes hard to pay attention to with lots of proofs and such, but gives review which is very difficult. Tests/homework pretty difficult but pretty big curve to make up for it.
he got angry at the class when we forgot something we learned back in 10th grade math, gives decent notes, but be sure to study cuz his tests are much harder than his review sheets
Review sheets not at all on par with his midterms. Usually midterms are too long for the exam period. It was easier to study from the book than it was from his notes. Lectures did not prepare you for homework, homework didn't prepare you for midterms.
He is a horrible teacher. Didn't respond to e-mail. No curve in the class, I got a D despite studying for hours. Very unfair, and gets angry if you ask questions. Expects you to just know everything on yr own. I learned from the book.
This guy knows his stuff. He thinks, speaks and communicates clearly. I think he might be the best teacher for Math 571. If you study hard, you can do well (and learn linear algebra) in his class. He's the best non-honors math prof that I've had here.
Often uses algebraic tricks without explaining how they work. Exams are very very difficult. Pick the hardest parts of the book and learn only that and you nmight get somewhere. Seems annoyed when asked for help.
He is lazy. His lectures don't flow because it is obvious he doesn't prepare for them which makes them difficult to follow. He doesn't work out example problems completely, pure laziness. Class always ended early and he made exams pretty difficult.
Math 571 is more challenging than Math 568. Husen teaches both, but I would personally only take him for 571 because he actually proves the theorems that he puts on the board. If you pay attention, you should understand them and do well. Do the homework.

I've learned a lot more from him than any other professor at OSU. He makes the course challenging, and the exams are horrible, but I learned a lot. I would rather have him than a professor who practically hands the students "A's"

Best math professor I have had at OSU. Makes the subject very easy. Do the practice exams and you will be fine, and go to class.
Easiest math class you'll ever take. Forget the homework, try to stay awake in class, and DO THE PRACTICE MIDTERMS. They are exact clones of the tests. oh, and no final!
Class is standard, but exams kick your BUTT! He makes every concept and picks THE HARDEST problem to do for it...watch out
He does not explain things in a language I could understand. If you love math and it comes naturally to you, then you will be fine. If you stuggle at it, though, and need extra help...choose another prof.!!
Best math prof that I have had so far at OSU. Teaches you what you need to know.
He is extremely hard. He does go over examples but often goes very fast without taking the time to explain things. I was good at math until I took this class with this professor.
A great professor. The class is hard (as is to be expected) but he is always glad to help. He's one of the few teachers that *wants* to teach rather than use teaching Calculus as a way to pay for research.
Best Math Teacher I have ever had.
A very sincere guy who makes the class half decent. Although math 152 is hard, he made it a lot better than he could have. Makes some funny jokes and keeps class interested. Lots Of Examples!!!! I loved that about him.
This was a very hard class and the exams were hard and u need to study alot to pass them. Although he uses alot of examples, he was unclear when he taught and sometimes hard to follow, nice person though.
Great Guy, really good at what he does. Doesn't always look it in his appearence. But good professor.
Excellent teacher, best Math 152 teacher Ohio State has! Does example after example during lectures so when tests and quizes roll around you have already seen the questions most of the time!
Excellent teacher. Explains topics clear as day. I had no calculus experience before college and this guy explained things so well that I hardly tried and got an A-, only because the class was not curved due to the average passing.
This guy sucks! If you want an example don't expect one from him.
This professor is awesome! He explains things better then all the highschool math teachers I had. If you are taking math 150, or any other course this guy teaches, do what you can to get into his class. He really is a great professor.
This guy is the****, probably the best teacher in the unniversity makes everything clear and helps peeps out

Cool guy who teaches well. He's not one that likes to listen to himself talk or make you feel stupid.
Mr. Husen was a good professor, but by the end of the quarter I hate math now.
He is a really laid back guy, and it's easy to learn off of him. I liked him a whole bunch!
The class was pretty boring but he explains things very well. He is a really cool guy and a good professor.
Great professor for math
AWESOME! I am sooo thankful I got him because some math lecturers make it impossible to pass!
Such a good teacher! He made the class easy
His lectures were very helpful and almost impossible to skip. Tests wern't a good representation of the material learned in class, however, the test that can be found on his website (they're hidden, so look for them!) are EXACTLY like the ones he gives (same order and everything with a few numbers switched). Overall, wonderful teacher!
I SUCK @ math...but Dr. Husen was very clear and made me feel like I actually understood what he was talking about. He is very helpful and seems like a pretty cool guy. It seems like he enjoys what he does and that makes it so much easier to pay attention in lecture. Math sucks, but if you have to take it, I would definitely recommend Dr. Husen.
He's a good guy, pretty nice and is always trying to look out for the students. However, he goes a really fast pace, so you can't ever expect to have down time or miss a lecture cause he covers so much.
His tests were qutie difficult but there was a ten percent curve (in my section, at least) I managed to get a B+! Just don't expect what is on the notes and quizzes to be on the midterms and finals.
I really didn't like the subject matter of the class. Husen spends a lot of time doing theorems and proofs, which went past me. Fortunately he does examples later, and these are very important. He's pretty helpful too if you talk to him. WARNING: the first 3 weeks are like a joke, so get an A while you can. The material gets abstract and hard.
Husen seems to enjoy teaching. I would say of all the possible lecturers, he truly is one of the best ones in Math. He is interested in what he does and comes prepared. He is willing to help you before or after class. However, do not miss his lectures, because he goes fast and his examples cannot be found in the book.
Great lecturer. Learned a lot in his class. Made some hard topics easy.
Dr. Husen is an excellent professor. Thanks to him, I understand not only how to do the math but why it works. Reviews and exams are straightforward, no tricks. Going to class (imagine that) and seeing examples helped me get an A.
This class was impossible. Exams were impossible. Quizzes were alright. Used to think i was good at math before this class. Probably a really hard class regarless of which professor teaches it though.
It was a hard class. He sometimes went way too fast and it was hard to catch what he was talking about. I wish he would do more examples in class. His tests seem somewhat easier than the quizzes, and he's got a descent curve.
good teacher i switched into his class way better than Wong. goes over everything well test are kinda hard but final is easy. i suggest going to MSLC if you want to do good!
He's not an exciting lecturer, but he goes over all the material clearly and is a very approachable guy. Tests were fair and if you know the material well enough (Can learn it w/out attending lecture) you should do well. Better than any other Math Lecturer I've had or even heard of...good guy
Calc at Ohio state is so lame. Don't balme husen, the class is meant to be a weed-out for pre-professional students. Stick with it, unless you're a physics/engineering/math major you will never use this stuff again. Husen is a pretty good lecturer. Go to class.
Amazing professor...this is the second time I've had Husen..once back in MA 150 and now for 571. Both times he made the subject crystal clear and the exams were fair and representative of the HW....be careful, the final was substantially harder than midterm
Good Guy. Very helpful during office hours. Based on professors my friends had, I had the best. Husen would go over stuff on exams the class before.
Best math teacher I have ever had. Clear teaching and easy tests..Go to class
He wasnt great but he wasnt terrible. He just rushed through things, and wasn't exactly clear about everything. If it wasn't for my T.A. this class would have been a tough one! But probably would recommend over the other profs. who are mostly foreign and tough to understand.
good teacher, but only if you understand him the first time he makes a point.
Best math prof @ OSU. Taught how he thought would be most clear even if it meant going a little astray from the book. Go to his lectures and pay attention. This class was a breeze.
The class was easier than I expected it to be. He makes his points clearly and covers the material throughly. Do the homework and go to lecture if you want an A.
Good lecturer, he is American, and speaks very clear English - a huge bonus in Ohio State's math department. His lectures are straightforward, and examples are easy to follow. Go to lecture, do the homework, and this class is a breeze. (The curve brought my grade down though, bummer).
Good Math Prof. Works through problems and explains things very well. Devoted to helping students. He even reviews in lecture before every test. Wish I could have him for M132!
This guy is my favorite! He explains everything very well and works through a lot of examples.
Best math professor/teacher I've ever had! VERY clear, explains things VERY well and lectures are organized. If you keep up on the work and go to lecture on occasion it is super easy because he actually teaches it!
This is an amazing instructor. Very easy to understand. Explains everything really well. I wish I could've had him for all my math classes. I would definitely recommend him!
My favorite math class I've taken at OSU. Dr. Husen taught the material very well and for engineers. He focused on applications, not theory, and gave many useful examples. Loved his mini-projects on the Fourier Transform and image compression. Very interesting and great class for engineers. He's very nice and tests are very fair. Recommended!
He's very understandable and teaches well. He makes you feel very confident about doing well in his class.
Husen is one of the best professors I have ever had, made all the topics clear and his tests were more than fair. If you can get him, do it, you will learn a lot and might even enjoy the class at the end.
Very good teacher. Very clear and was always willing to elaborate where needed.
Bill is a nice guy and wants to help. His class is not easy, but if you do work then you'll get a good grade. He tells you exactly what he wants and is fair about it. great professor!
I am not a math person at all.....but I enjoyed his class. As much as I hate Business Calculus, Husen was pretty cool and explained things decently. If you're a math whiz, you can get a B+ easily.
If you're in business calc, chances are you're not great at math. It'll challenge you, but Husen is very clear. Textbook homework is not mandatory, but DO IT. At least some. This class is all about practice, so after lecture do maybe half the homework and it'll take you less than 30 minutes. Over-prepare for the second midterm as well.
Very goos, understood everything he said. Put the work in and do the book problems and you will get an A.
Very good at teaching/explaining the material especially when most of the class is confused. Lots of homework, which are good for practice. Exams were not too difficult. Material was pretty straightforward, too.
Husen is an excellent teacher in that he teaches the material in a very clear way. His exams are reasonably challenging, but very fair. He is a picky grader, though.
Dr Husen is helpful and I liked the way he delivers the material. The problems in the exams mostly come from HW problems and examples in the book and class so I highly recommend going to lectures.
The best math teacher I've ever had. Overall the class is fairly challenging but he presents the material in a way that really helps students to learn it. For exams he usually will put several proofs on the exam that were done in class and/or homework so if you practice those enough you will do fine.
His lectures just confuse you more than anything. A lot of people (including me) only attend recitation and grades have improved since then. He rambles about unimportant details and is very dry. Hopefully you have a good TA to make up for it
bad professor
He is a kind person and a good professor.
Husen is a respected professor. He cares about students.
Bill is one of the best math professors I've had. This class can be difficult at times, but he explains things very well and the exams are fair. He also offered midterm corrections which was very generous.
Dr. Husen is an amazing professor who loves what he teaches, and wants you to love it as well. The material is difficult but he explains it in a great way. He's extremely caring and more than willing to help answer any questions you might have. I hope to take another class with him in the future.
I think that Husen was a good teacher and he was really hands on gave you a good look at what need to be done.
Horrible professor
Class can be hard esp after 1st midterm, but if averages are low he offers midterm corrections and adds a curve at the end. I'd recomend going to class or knowing someone else who can send notes bc it's hard to learn the material without the class notes. To my knowledge he didn't post class notes often. Midterms/final was fair.
