Bill is great.
A Teacher in the truest sense
No Comments
OMG Puck Feeler, just kidding. I had a great time in Peeler's classes with my good friends and I always getting in trouble. I was always late and barely passed...but I came out of it with great memories...of course none of them have to do with lighting o
I'm sorry but he is so boring and I don't understand what we are doing in class right now. I can't even stay awake.
The class is very boring and hard to follow and i don't like how he doesn't ever say anything about the test or anything. He never says how many questions or anything. I think i am going to fail because i have no idea whats going on in this class.
he's a decent teacher, but the critiques we have to write are awful. i really don't see a point in them...it's not like we go over them or anything. also, we've been watching corny movies a lot. i usually fall asleep in that class or just don't go. get out of it if you can!
I had peeler for Stagecraft and he is the only reason I passed Lighting because he taught me how to draft. He really is a brilliant teacher. Hard, but brilliant. The people who don't do well in his classes are usually slackers anyway who don't go to class or study for the tests. Study and you'd do fine. His classes build character. College is supposed to be challenging. If you don't want that, don't take Peeler.
I enjoyed his humor. Tests easy to prepare for, and no attendance policy.
Everyone has to take this class at TxState, if you want an A, take Crazy Bill. He's been in the game 30 yrs doing theatre. 60% exams, 40% critiques. Do the critiques, print his slides off blackboard, half-ass your exams, and you'll make an easy A. Shows films in class, and lets you see many dance and music pieces. Ask his t/a for help if you need it.
HORRIBLE! His lectures are so boring and his tests are really hard. On top of tests 4 critiques are due throughout the semester. I would definately sign up for a different intro to fine arts class.
He's a really nice guy, but he's not going to hold your hand. If you do poorly in this class it's your own fault. Just read the assignments, go over your notes, attend class, and you'll get an A. Too much to ask for in college?
Bill is hard but fair. He will give you the tools and hopefully you will use them. If you don't he is not going to pat your back while you cry. Expect to know everything when you leave if you do the work. Almost 10 years now and I still can reference the work I did with him.
Peeler is very good fro Intro to Fine Arts. He emphasizes that its an Intro class so he only focuses on the general aspect of the arts and only expects you to know this. There is a lot of information but its a very easy class to pass if you put in the work. Boring at times but overall, good guy!
HE ASSIGNS ALOT OF WORK. I WANTED TO DROP THIS CLASS AT FIRST. BUT AS LONG AS YOU ATTEND THE EVENTS ASSIGNED AND DO WELL ON THE CRITIQUES YOU CAN HALF ASS THE EXAMS AND STILL DO WELL IN HIS CLASS.
Nice guy but lecture sucks. wants you to read a lot but not necessary to pass class. take DETAILED notes, get notes off blackboard! TURN IN ALL CRITIQUES & do any extra credit and you will do fine. regular class attendence is good, but not everyday :) I don't necessarily recommend but he is ok. I had a C and pulled a B after the final. study notes!
very unclear on his tests. picks, trivial, small details to question you on that no one would ever thought to study. Nice guy but tests are just plain weird. Don't worry though, it's an easy B if you just try
Hard class for the blow off class it should be. Slightly amusing at times but tests are difficult if you don't read. Attendance isn't mandatory but suggested. DON'T take it in the morning cause you WILL want to sleep. Overall a 'eh' class.
Awful! and his TA's sucked!
He is rude and will not help you out! I missed a class for a family emergency and he told me to bring a detailed note before he would accept my paper! If you have to take him, make sure you take good notes and print all the power points! And if you miss more than three classes then he will start to drop your grade!
His T.A.s suck....after 3 missed classes, 3 points will be deducted from your average each day missed afterwards. you have 10 min after class start to get to class but i caught the T.A. twice counting me absent after 5 min. The tests are notes and reading, he doesnt tell you anything about the test. each question is worded very tricky and confusing
for intro to theatre, it was hard. i studied more for this class than my posi and blaw class. you have to read the book if you want a good grade. exam questions come from notes, book, and movies. tests are not easy. should curve at the end and on some tests. class can be a bore, doesnt like students leaving during class.
Peeler's class is extremely boring. He reads directly off his slides. You have out of class reading, that will be on the test. You have to do 4 critiques out of class. He is rude, but the class is not hard if you do all of your stuff.
His lectures can be quite boring and sleepy but overall this class is really a breeze. Taking minimal notes, reading the assigned parts in the book which are really not that long, and being to the majority of classes will grant an A. You also have to do four critiques, but they are not hard as long as you follow his guidelines.
Didn't try too hard for this class and I got a B. Just turn in your critiques on time and do the reading and you'll be fine.
His class is ok... he really knows alot about it and that makes it more interesting but his tests are off about 85% off lecture and notes and 15% off reading, not too hard but not too easy, def. take the time to study!
Good teacher, knows what he is talking about. Tests can be hard if you do not read the textbook. Study the powerpoint notes from class and the textbook and you will do fine. There are four outside credit assignments you will have to attend and critique. You either get a hundred or zero, its not hard to make a hundred just follow the guidelines.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!! he is rude and his class is VERY boring!!! he knows what he is talking about but it is not worth it to take him.
he doesn't really deserve the bad ratings. this class isn't a blow-off like it should be but it is pretty easy. just take the notes bc i read a paragraph total from the book and still passed with a B (only bc i got lazy and didn't turn in an essay). just concentrate on notes and the 4 critiques.
If you're made to take this class and don't have any interest in art etc. don't take him. He expects you to read so much material for the exam, which if you don't care will send you to sleep! His attendance policy is harsh, if you miss more than 3 classes he takes 3 points off your final grade for every missed class after that! Boring lectures.
Very good teacher. Really into the material and makes class interesting. Attendence is mandatory. 4 crtitques are extremely easy. Tests are moderate. I never read any of the book but made an A in the class. Must review the powerpoints before the test if you expect to pass. He will not answer any questions and tell you to read the syllabus.
Alright...takes job way too serious.
he doesnt help his students at all. When you try to narrow down the info that will be on the test he says you need to know everything. He grades critiques pass fail with only one rewrite allowed. it seems his one goal in life os to spite all his students because he knows they dont care about theatre like he does. WORST CLASS EVER!
Great professor- he is very serious about his job and loves theatre. Lecutures are interesting and he is pretty funny. If you pay attention in class and do your critques you'll be okay. If you're looking for a class to slack off in, this isn't the one.
OMG... he is so... BORING, I couldn't help but fall asleep in his class. The critiques are easy to write, and the tests aren't hard, though he assigns a whole lot of reading, you don't actually have to read all of it!! Oh, and you get 3pts. off your final grade if you miss more than 3 classes... it's so boring I went b/c I had to but napped..
Professor Peeler is extremely easy if you just follow his guidelines. He gives an easy assignment before every test to provide 5 extra credit points on the test. His critiques are either 100 or a 0, but all you have to do is follow the guidelines that he provides. I made a 100 on all 4.
Semi easy class if you do the work and read the book before the tests. Otherwise you are screwed. Oh and he is a major perfectionist. Everything must be perfect on your critique or BAM you get a 0. Stupid if you ask me. Like saying we can't make mistakes at all.
Seriously, drop this class while you have the chance. Unless you just absolutely love theater and fine arts or love to read (and remember) every single detail from the book, this class is not for you. It was my worst grade for the semester and I went every single day. He talks too much about nothing. His TA is completely useless. T E R R I B L E!
Peeler is a very dedicated professor who takes pride in his knowledge of fine arts. However, he is the hardest prof I have taken at tsu. Very extensive readings to do well on tests and requires you to attend and critique 5 professionally done performances. I suggest you take a music class than this dreadful section with Bill Peeler.
This class isn't as bad as people are making it out to be. He assigns a ton of reading but all you have to do is scan the major people and all the things in the highlighted boxes. Very easy! Mr. Peeler is a really good teacher. He is very knowlegable and interesting to listen to! He also shows heaps of video clips once you get out of the Art part
The reading is NOT extensive and you only need FOUR critiques like most of the other Intro to Fine Arts classes. It's seriously not that hard to make an A in this class. People we are in college, it is supposed to be challenging... dont know what some of these people are talking about. I liked this prof and enjoyed the class!
Kinda hard. Critiques are easy. Don't even need to attend anything, as long as you get a program. But this class is the most boring thing I have ever had to experience in my life. He is way to excited, and it's very annoying. Not helpful AT ALL when you ask what to study for the test. Puts the entire class to sleep. Extremely boring. Great naptime.
The class content was not that bad, most people should find some of it interesting. The prof. teaches it well...however, he is just not a very helpful person. He seems to find joy in making the class more difficult than it should be.
Peeler is a good teacher for the most part and is certainly knowledgeable enough to teach Intro to Fine Arts. However, he is a little uptight and pretentious. If you appreciate the arts then class will be interesting, but if not then you will struggle to stay awake. Also, READ the assigned chapters before tests and take notes on people and terms!
On tests more answers come from notes than reading.
I found the class interesting at first but as the semester went on it got worse. He will make you do 4 critiques on different types of performances (theater, music and Art). If you don't follow his strict guidelines then you will get a 0 on it. I turned on in and thought I did good on it and he denied it. Take the Music class instead...
This class is really not that bad. Just read the notes before the test scan over the book and thats it. As for the critique, its not that difficult either just follow the guidelines. Im a freshman and its not that bad!!!
Very easy class. Just study the notes, come to class everyday and attend 4 performances. It wasn't that bad and I usually hate TH classes.
I love Mr. Peeler! I think hes such funny teacher and I always enjoy his lectures! I am enjoying his class and I don't understand why some people hate it :( the critiques are easy, the reading is long, but as long as you know the main ideas and people, you're good to go. you should def thake this class, i'm just saying ;)
I think Prof. Peeler is a natural entertainer, so his lectures are a breeze! He throws in little jokes throughout. Watch WHEN you take it, though, because my class is 8:00 and the Theatre is a LONG trek down there in the rain, and he frowns on tardiness. All-in-all easy A, just keep track of when your (easy) critiques are due, and you're golden!
The only problem I had was the critiques. The grading system is pass or fail: 100 or ZERO. I had all 100s until the last critique due right before finals and got a zero because I wrote too much about the plot. Had to jump through hoops to get it fixed. Bad stress right before finals. I liked the class, learned a lot, but it is a DUMB way to grade.
I really enjoyed Professor Peeler! The course in itself really isn't that interesting but he's really passionate about it, he's pretty funny and makes the class pretty entertaining. It's not too difficult, the critiques really boost your grade if you just follow the guidelines =)
LOVED HIS CLASS! His tests are very easy! The critiques are easy 100's if you follow the guidelines and the events were actually interesting! Take him, lectures can be boring, but he makes them interesting sometimes! take him! =)
This class was ridiculous. I could not stand going to class. The test were the hardest test ive take here at tstate, and this is my WORSE class. If you dont plan to MAJOR in thea. DO NOT take this class!!
Mr. Peeler obviously LOVES theatre and the arts very much. He is very passionate. I was never bored during a lecture, I LOVED his class. I made an A. You do have to read and study the book ALOT before tests, and make sure to be thorough in the critiques. But I overall loved this class, if you're willing to work, I would reccomend it if you actually want to learn something.
You either like him or you hate him! I, personally, liked Mr. Peeler. He had a good sense of humor and we watched LOTS of videos. He is very strict on texting, iPods, etc., but, you are in college, you're paying for the class. You might as well pay attention. Tests are so-so. No review, but they're not that bad. He's not that bad! :)
This teacher is rude. His tests are ridiculous. I studied for 3 days and read everything he gave out and required out of the book and it was totally twisted and had questions that didn't even match the information. Don't take him.
He's not to bad, if you're interested in the material then take him. If you're looking for an easy A take Music. Do the critiques regardless, very important and will save your grade.
He emphasizes classroom courtesy ALOT. Just turn of your cell phone. Tests weren't too hard but do know your notes and look over the text book. I didn't have an interest in theatre so it was a little boring. A is very possible if you turn in critiques following the guidelines and review for tests. He is a nice guy.
he is such a pretentious theater enthusiast i couldn't stand how he lectured. not only are they so so so boring and hard to take notes on but the tests were extremely hard. it's very hard to recall exact details from 50 pages of text and that is what he expects you to do. i don't know how any one calls this an "easy a" AVOID!
If you are not a fan of the arts, don't get involved in lectures, and can't refrain from texting in class, don't take him. He is very thorough and particular in going through the material. I enjoyed him a lot; he's witty. A little snarky about his opinion, but he's a likeable guy. Study, do the critiques & extra credit, and you'll pass no problem.
Slightly snarky, witty old man who loves the arts. If you don't appreciate them, don't get into lectures, or can't refrain from texting during class, don't take him. I enjoyed this class a lot. He's very thorough with the material. Show up to class, take good notes, read the book occasionally, do the critiques & extra credit, and you will pass.
I don't like to write bad reviews, but I really had a hard time with this man. Very insensitive about things that might be going on with a student outside of his classroom. No cell phones, no exceptions. (Unless you want to be chastised in front of the class.) Bookbags at the front of the class for exams. I just found him rude and disrespectful.
Disliked his class very much. He teaches outdated techniques and theories and everything else seems very trivial. He requires mandatory critiques on arts events 5 times a semester which is overbearing. He does not care about the success of his students and is rude most of the time.
I don't see why everyone is ragging on Professor Peeler so much. Yes, he is strict on cell phones/electronics, but I find this rule actually beneficial - I'm forced to listen. It can be a little boring sometimes, but he is not nearly as bad as everyone makes him out to be.
Extremely easy class. You do have to do some outside work and create 4 theatre, dance and art events. Although that may sound a lot its hardly nothing compared to the ease of his tests. They come straight from the in-class notes and there are a few from the readings. Easy A, highly recommended.
His class is challenging, but that is what i liked about it. He has strict guidelines for the critiques but as long as you follow them then you'll be fine. He is intelligent and definitely knows what he is teaching. Also, he actually is pretty understanding on things if you show him you're putting in the effort to show up and do well in his class.
Very nice man, doesn't like when people are late! NO CELLPHONES! Love the subject and the lectures were easy to understand and get you interested and awake! Test are challenging and you must read and take notes over the reading assignments! Critics are a big part of your grade so do them! No notes during class powerpoints are online. Take him!
Hardest class that I have taken at TX State University, and that is saying alot, considering the fact that I am in physics and bio chemistry. His tests are EXTREMELY hard. most boring class ever, and everyone is always falling asleep. i STRONGLY advise anyone that is considering taking him, to reconsider. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
He was okay. His lectures were not awful but boring. Make sure you read the chapters because 1/2 the tests are little things picked from the book! Just show up and turn off your cell phone. Follow the directions on the critiques and study hard for the test. You may think Intro to Fine Arts will be easy, but Im a A student and I got a B.
Passionate about subject. Lectures are pretty boring but sometimes intersting. Read the textbook b/c a lot of quesetions from test from book. Keep cellphone off and don't text because you will be kicked out of class. Class not difficult but can be if you don't study for exams.
He is a nice guy if you follow his one rule, no phones. I thought his class wasn't that boring. I just skimmed the book for tests and I made an A in this class. It was very easy class, I wrote the critiques the night before and still got an A.
He is more uptight than most intro to fine arts teachers, but he is fair. If you just do what is outlined in the syllabus, then you will do fine. The tests are easy and he always gives extra credit. Don't disrespect him and you won't have a problem. Easy class.
While this class was easy, I didn't like prof. peeler, or the class structure. You're required to write 4 reviews on out of class performances but reviews are hardly graded on content, more on formatting and it's an "all or nothing" grading style so if you use the wrong font, margins, etc. you get none of the points for formatting
Very passionate about his job. His tests however have kicked my butt. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT ALWAYS. It's an easy 4 points. On the first test know the painting completely, The second one know all the composers and focus more on music. Don't disrespect him and listen and follow his rules and you should be fine.
Easy A if you follow his rules. Exams come verbatim from his notes, textbook readings; stupid easy with a little study time. Have to go to 4 events and write "critiques", graded almost completely on format; again, stupid easy. Prof. is cocky and aloof, occasionally funny, passes his opinions as facts of life so keep your BS meter handy. Hide phone.
Dr. Peeler is an old fashioned teacher. He clearly hasn't updated his powerpoint slides since 1992 and his examples of deance/music/theatre etc are outdated and the videos have terrible quality. That being said, he's passionate about his subject and you will be able to make an easy A if you go to class and turn in your critiques on time.
Of all the classes I took this semester this was my only C. So frustrating. His test have random questions about specific details. Critiques are mainly graded on format, all or nothing. As long as you do this the critiques help your grade out a lot.
Horrible. Lectures were long and boring and a lot of test material was never covered in class. 4 critiques are mandatory and if you miss an opportunity on campus you're basically screwed. However, take advantage of the extra credit for the tests. I do NOT recommend this class if you're just taking it to get your fine art credit out of the way.
I was not happy about taking this class. For some odd reason tx state wouldn't transfer my arts class from another university. Any who, the class is better than I anticipated. He is passionate about the topics he lectures on which helps you stay awake. I received an A but it was not as easy as I had hoped for. You will have to study b/c his exams are a little difficult. The critiques are a joke, don't bother putting much effort into them as I am pretty sure they don't get read.
Um, yeah. Professor Peeler is a great teacher. In a way he made the subjects we discussed very interesting. Attendance is mandatory which is pointless considering all the information needed is covered in the textbook. And only ask your TA for help. He doesn't help at all. I don't recommend him unless you have background on theatre, music, and dance
His tests are really hard. If you don't read you'll fail the tests. I never missed a class and would do the readings and still never made higher than a B- on the tests. He does not tell you what is on the tests and he is kind of rude. He'll call you out and kick you out of class if you are caught asleep or on your phone. I dont recommend his class.
He's a nice guy, but his tests are hard. Especially if you don't read the book, or attend the lectures. He has a BIG issue with phones and class interruptions. Lectures are extremely long and boring. I wouldn't recommend this class.
Everyone on here seems to hate this class. Mr.Peeler is passionate about his subject which kept me interested he has \great anecdotes. SO WHAT hes hard on people sleeping and using their phones, if you cant respect that is he really the one in the wrong. Pay attention in class you don't need the book its all on the outdated slides and quizlet
Very passionate and knowledgeable about his subject. He's very witty and knows How to make his class interesting. Others say his videos and material are outdated, but they're still effective, and most of the time, interesting too. Would recommend for anyone needing a fine arts class. Students with a preexisting love for theater will love him.
If you like really lame jokes, long, pointless stories, and being treated like a kindergartner then this teacher is for you! If not, you need to avoid him at all costs. There are only 4 possible critique paper grades (0,30,70,100) and it's very rare anyone gets a 100...
the way he( or the TA, I should say) grades the mandatory "critiques" are weird to me-- basically content is 70% of the grade and format is 30% of the grade, if you mess up either one of those (even if its just a margin error, or you misunderstood one portion of the paper) you end up with a 30, 70 or a 0 if you mess both up.
people expect this class to be a super easy and that they can just show up and sleep, not read the book and still make an A+ but He doesn't make his class like that because this is something he loves. it is definitely still possible to make an A, just show up, take his power point notes, and read the 2-5 page readings.
only 4 possible grades for "critiques": 0,30,70,100. TA does all the grading, direct all questions to him. doesn't teach from book but book readings are still on tests. book readings are short though. he really loves theater. DO NOT sleep, text, or pack up early. don't expect to never pay attention and get an A, you gotta show up, read& take notes
Tests are nightmares, expects you to remember certain points made in lecture. Only gives out 7 grades and tests are worth 70%. He does not accept any late work and is very strict about performance critiques. He wasn't horrible but you have to attend every class to pass. Not very understanding but his teacher's assistant is. Have to have book!
Pretty easy if you are willing to work. Didn't use the textbook very much. Only 3 tests and 4 short critiques. I found his class interesting.
Critiques are harshly graded!
Likes to talk, that's for sure. Harsh grader but the rubrics are clear cut and he sticks to them. Good lecturer, tries to keep people awake, I learned alot, for the most part interested. Only 7assignments including four critiques on shows you attend outside of class, and then 3 tests. That's it. No cummulative final.
Very easy if you FOLLOW DIRECTIONS! Minimal assignments. TA very helpful. Easy extra credit. Fun lectures. Would recommend. Study for tests and easy A. Final is just a regular test. No tests are cumulative, including final.
His class is pretty interesting, but he is a very tough professor. Don't even think of getting on your phone or falling asleep because you will be kicked out of class. Tests are completely unrelated to material discussed in class. The book is VERY necessary. Have to go see professional plays, musicals, and art exhibits then write a paper on it.
I thought this would be an easy A, wrong. you're required to read pages of boring info and then told you'll be tested over the reading, that does not correspond with the lecture. Then the test will be 70 percent reading 30 percent of vague lecture material. You are also required to attend professional critiques. Avoidable time commitment.
He is very passionate about what he is teaching. He also offers extra credit so that's always a plus. His class was very interesting even if you're not really into theater. I would suggest sitting in the front and attending all lectures, because it's a big class and it's much easier to focus.
Peeler's tests were awful. I would not have passed if I didn't read the book. He takes the tiniest details from the book and puts it on a test. Grading for critiques is tough but if you figure out the format- you're good. I HIGHLY suggest you try to take someone else. Trust me! I am a big fan of the arts but Peeler made me hate them temporarily.
I have found Mr. Peeler to be super easy so far. I have gotten 100s on all 3 tests and critiques. Just read for the tests, and follow his directions for the critiques and you'll get an A. Although I learned a lot in this class, I wouldn't recommend him if you plan on slacking.
Go to class everyday! If you pay attention he explains everything you need to know to succeed in his class. I would skim the readings the night before tests and make 90s on the tests. He has a lot of rules but overall he's a good teacher. Best class days were when we watched movies or when he kicked people out for texting in class!
There is no reviews given for tests, but most information on there is in your notes. He will show a movie once or twice a semester and will make attendance optional, in those cases you should still attend because they will be on the test. He gives quizzes and does give study guides for those. Critique formats are fairly easy and are easy grades.
He is very passionate about the arts and really wants everyone else to enjoy it as well. Lectures can be boring but very interesting at times. He does not like any technology. He will call you out if you're using them or if you're sleeping. And eventually ask you to leave. Got to do critiques that cost $$.
You write up to 4 critiques in which you are almost guaranteed to pay for. His lectures are very long. has assigned readings but from my experience what is in the book isn't on the test. He has TA's to do grading for him. However, they take a long time for you to actually get a grade back. Peeler discourages emailing him, go straight to the TA
I made a B in this class SOLELY due to critiques and quizzes. 4 critiques. 5 quizzes (one will be dropped). I failed my 1st test and made C's on the last 2. I am convinced he thinks it's amusing to let his students struggle. Puts questions on test that were not covered in class. No study guide. Read the book. Good luck.
Grades are consisted of 4 Critiques, 5 Quizes, 3 Test. Critiques are mindless its all about following the rules, if you pay attention to guidelines you should get 100 on all, Quizes are based off of videos and web pages taken online in class, easy to have two windows open. Test are confusing and have random small details cover in class on them.
Peeler is a very boring teacher, almost makes you uninterested in the lectures. Grades are 4 critiques, 3 tests and 5 quizzes (drops lowest 1). Critiques are about rules and it sucks because most of the events you have to attend cost. Tests include small unnecessary details, most of which might be in the book so read it before tests. Take notes
I got all A's in my core classes and a D in art. Whatever you do, do not take him. I used to love learning about art but this class ruined my respect for art.
The only fine arts class where you'll actually learn. He is a tough grader, but it makes you actually have to do work to get good grades. His lectures are so easy to pay attention to. He's adorable and I love him. Don't get on your phone in class, and don't buy the book its really not that important.
Peeler is a boring professor. It is almost as if he wants you to struggle in this course. He does not make it easy. As a student who is not seeking a future in theatre I advise against taking his course.
I hated the class but the professor made it tolerable. He's not the best professor I've ever had, but he's a good professor who is capable of keeping my attention.
I loved Peeler's lectures, but then again I've always liked fine arts. TREAD CAREFULLY with critiques. I am a strong writer and received a zero on my first paper because of formatting, so watch out. For quizzes, study the timelines he puts on TRACs and you'll be okay. If you want a blow-off fine arts credit, he is probably not for you.
This is not a blow off class!! I had to put as much work into writing those critiques as I put into my other classes. When you hear that he is very picky about his critiques it is not a joke. I accidentally made my header double-spaced and I got 30 points off. Be careful! Also, if he sees you on your phone he will embarrass you.
Mr. Peeler is very serious about this subject. He's not terrible as long as you do what you're supposed to. This definitely is not a blow off class. Study for the quizzes, they're short and easy as long as you recognize the material. The critiques are pretty okay, but make sure you follow the guidelines EXACTLY. He lets you know what he expects.
This was by far my favorite class of the semester. I learned so much about all of the different forms of art in the world, and got to view some pretty cool movies. Critiques are extremely important so be sure to go to your play/concert/art gallery at least a week before the paper is due! Also make sure to follow the formatting to the bone.
He is a professor that takes the my way or the highway approach to the course. Dont take his course if youre not okay to spend about $30 on tickets to Fine Arts performances. His tests are over anything covered in lecture and in the textbook, and he does not provide a review to anything. Quizzes are simple. Overall, nice enough but strict.
Prof. peeler is an interesting guy. He's old school and can't stand electronic devices inside his lectures. He wants undivided attention and I don't think that's asking too much. I did not care for his quizzes but they weren't hard if you studied. Critiques (4 of them) take the most of your time. He's a nice guy and passionate about what he teaches
Peeler is a straight forward kind of guy. If you show up, take diligent notes and don't mess around on your phone, then this class will be an easy A. That said, he LOATHES people who skip, leave early or don't pay attention. He is clearly very knowledgable about the subject he teaches and his passion for arts makes the class interesting.
strict no cell phone policy, Offers easy extra credit before every test, only homework you have is to do 4 critiques throughout the semester. As long as you follow the basic grading criteria and actually put some effort into your papers, you should do fine. definitely study for the tests and quizzes. attendance is mandatory and assigned seating.
The lectures are very thorough and sometimes drawn out but everything is explained well. Must write papers over live arts performances and he is very particular about them but it's not hard to do well on them. Offers extra credit before every test, quizlet study guides online for each test, and no cumulative final.
Peeler takes the whole class time (1 hour 20 minutes) lecturing through about 15 slides! Super boring, he doesnt give out any form of test review which make his tests extremely hard because youve got no clue what could be on it! Honestly, avoid peeler at all costs if you want an A. His tests make this seem like an advanced course; not an intro.
Peeler is very nice and gives a lot of opportunity to get a good grade. His critique guidelines are pretty strict, and the exams have a lot of information (he does not give a study guide, either). The first quiz is the worst, but it's gets better as you go along. As long as you study and put the work in, you'll do well.
So. boring. He likes what he teaches but hes been doing this a while and you can tell. Pretty chill about attendance but it was hard to want to go when he drones on and on. Nothing is interesting in this class. Wouldnt recommend him if you arent already super into theatre or fine arts.
His class isn't the worst, but he is very strict and kind of off-putting if you want to talk one-on-one. His tests are always super specific about things from the textbook, so make sure to read it prior to the test. It's not an easy A especially for people who already struggle academically. But at least the final isn't cumulative:/
Worst professor at Texas State. extremely unreasonable, very difficult!!! no reviews for test "if you take proper notes you would pass the test". don't take him if you're not wanting a D in the class.
dont recommend to take his class
he is really cool and he is passionate about what he talks about, but the exams are heavily based on the book so you have to buy it and you also have buy tophat. and while he lectures, there will be pop up quizzes you have to answer in ten seconds and he limits a lot of things you can see on campus for the long critiques.
Hes not the worst. Im on track to get an A and theres only a few weeks left. If you dont read the textbook, youll miss a good amount on the exams! He gives random quizzes as well, so be prepared. If you truly study effectively, youll be fine.
He doesnt respond to emails because he thinks hes too high above his students. He also doesnt provide feedback on critiques so we never know what we did wrong. He makes us buy top hat just for attendance as if we dont already have enough to pay for. Overall hes just a doof and you should avoid taking his class at all causes!
A douch bag of a teacher
Lectures are kinda boring and he talks slow so it can lull you to sleep if your not careful. But over all a very organized class that was easy to follow and I always new what was expected and when things were due. A very predictable class which can be very refreshing.
