Very nice and teaches a lot and always answers questions very thourough
Wonderful teacher.
i like him, he's very helpful and easy grader
Easy class. Do NOT like the teacher personally. Is patronizing. Talks down. Creeps me out.
Good Instructor - easy to follow in class and great extra effort for additional support. Does not review homework- relies too much on "online" support. However, provides good solid examples and explains methods well.
Great professor...very helpful.
I LOVED this class (and I am horrible at math) He is such a good instructor. He'll take you step by step through every assignment (some times two or three times if needed)
Excellent guy!! Fair and understanding, not to harsh with attendance. Definite reccomend, especially if your not good at math, this is the perfect way to get those math credits out the way!
Great teacher and instructor. I would take the class again.
HE is the nicest and most leant. He will explain the material 3 or 4 times if need be. very great teacher.
awesome teacher! he is very leniant and patient. easy class!
Great professor but be prepared to work.
Tests are hard, but he's an excellent teacher.
What a great teacher!!! Wish there more like him... Makes every effort to teach the student and does it very well. Important to attend classes because of his very helpful lectures.
He used the Angel Network which sucks. A computer should not be required for this class. Assignments weren't senting to the teacher through Angel so we didn't get a grade. We did the assignments and sent them in but.. Whatever! He taught the class well, just used the angle network. I suggest not to take any online or comp. assited class at SPC.
Great teacher, maybe a little too easy. He has a wierd way of talking that takes a little getting used to, but he really wants to see the students succeed and will help you out if you need it.
Great teacher, you will be hearing alot of this..."
Great teacher, you will be hearing alot of this..."IS THAT OK!!!" HE will ask you the student if it is ok for him the teacher to erase the bord! He will use this phrase about 10-15 times per lecture if not more. This was a very laid back class, great explaintions, good sense of humor. Not one of those anal teachers.
I went in for tutoring 1-2 days a week, for 30 mins or so, he will explain everything for you 2-3 times or more if you need it. He gives Examples (the even #'s in book), so you can properly understand how to do each section. What a great teacher. I highly recommend him! Tests will be hard if you don't study. Just go in and see him. Learned A LOT!
Mr. Rush has a true excitement for math. He is a helpful teacher but does have a problem focusing sometimes. He will stray from topic to discuss a topic that is covered in Calc II and not pertinent at that point. Overall I would love to take him for any future classes since he wants his students to do well and will do anything to help.
Wonderful instructor! He is such a sweet man. He makes material that might be difficult, much easier to understand. He really wants you to do well and do whatever it takes to help you out. I would love to take him again
Mr. Rush is a great teacher. He teaches like you are in grade school which was great for me since I am awful at anything math. This class didn't seem like a math course and opened my mind to some math concepts I never knew. Great Teacher!!
Very nice and very helpful. If you needed anything he would be right there to help you. Very easy going, knows what hes talking about and is very envolved with it. Not like one of those teachers that hates what they're teaching.
I dont Know about all these other ratings but if your are somewhat lazy like me do not take his class. I had to retake it during the summer cause I got a D.Not clear at all Deff. not interesting. One of the worst math teachers I have had so far!
This is the best math teacher ever. YOU MUST TAKE HIM! He is very helpful and tries to make the class as interesting as possible. The class is very easy as long you pay attention to his lecture. I am not good in math and in his class I got an A.
PROFESSOR RUSH IS AN EXCELLENT TEACHER AND I WISH I COULD TAKE HIM FOR ALL OF MY MATH CLASSES. HE IS A VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE MAN AND I HOPE TO BE A GOOD MATHEMATICS TEACHER LIKE HIM ONE DAY.
Mr Rush is a good professor. He knows what he is talking about. He gives little opportunity to get a good grade. I am not a good math student (never have been) and the way Bill tests it is hard to get a good grade. 4 tests is it. I did OK on three but bombed one ended with a C. Just glad I got out, he must have taught me somethin :)
Well, I guess I am the only one who thinks this teacher is EXTREMELY BORING like no tomorrow. Get used to hearing "Is that ok?" fifty times during a lecture. He goes SO SLOW and makes funny comments about himself and then sort of looks at the class weird when we end up laughing. It is the longest 1 hr 1hr15min of the day, and I like math a lot!!!!!
Extremely easy, has what i felt busy work, he walks you through everything and gives answers. Papers are easy, if you cant pass this couse then drop college, i felt as i was in a 9th grade algebra class.
Great guy and an o.k. teacher. He taught this class as if everyone had taken Elementary Algebra. I hadn't taken E.A. because I exempted with my SAT scores. So anyway, the material wasn't fresh on my head and I was basically relying on material I learned when I was a sophomore in high school. I may sound stupid, but he moved a bit fast for me.
Mr. Rush is a good teacher but get used to hearing, "Is that ok?" a LOT. His tests are multiple choice and he gives extra credit opps. Beware of the group tests with group grades! Pay attention in class and you will do fine. He teaches the material sort of slow, I thought, but is a really nice guy and good teacher.
Well, I understood everything he said as he was showing us how to work out the problems. I understood all of the homework we did. The only thing that I did not like were his tests. He split each unit test into 2 parts, group and individual. You can use a graphing calc on part 1, but not part 2. And he adds things to each problem to throw you off.
I thought Mr. Rush was awesome. I admit it was a little boring, but he will do everything to help you learn the material. He makes sure everyone is "on-board". I always see him helping people in his office. I thought the tests were super easy. I just payed attention in class and brushed up before the tests. Excellent teacher!
Great teacher I would take him again if I needed another math class.
Tests were difficult and required extensive studying. One take home test other tests each 75% individual, 25% Group. Crams things in at times, and goes slow as heck for others, and isnt clear at all for most of it. I had to teach myself a few things, but I got an A, and I am in no ways good at math. Like to teach towards Calc 1/2 too much.
I took him for Lib II. The class was super easy, all assignments are online. There are no tests and he was very laid back. No exam and a lot of extra credit =)
This class was super boring!! Must attend tutoring to PASS!!
Very helpful outside of class. Class is helpful because he explains the subject in good detail. Do not worry about a fast pace. He takes his time so you understand. Highly reccomended for students who are new to the subject. No comlaints about his approach. If you are a genius when it comes to math, then do not take him. He is there to teach you.
At first I thought he was helpful and he made it sound like he was available to help us. Turns out, I went to his office two times during his office hours, and he was never there. The first time I waited 2 hours and he was a no show. The second time I waited 20 minutes and I gave up. He's unreliable.
I had him for Lib Arts2. He's nice but extremely boring. His class feels like a waste of time, really. But it's an easy A. No tests, no final, no hw, book not needed. Just show up and do the classwork. ..But I've seen him explain algebra before- YIKES. He's totally unclear in that area. Good guy, but teaching is not his calling.
Rushes through course material, talks about engineering a lot. Does not let you use a graphing calculator on the test. Splits the test into two portions (Group & Individual). Isn?t clear what will be on the test and skips a lot of stuff. Stay away or = teach yourself/risk retaking. Rush says he did not intend on being a teacher..and it shows.
Flies through material ^^ ... Isn't clear. Doesn't teach well, left class confused always. Got an A in trig with Wilkerson at the same time i took this class and struggled all the way through ended with low C. He is a nice guy and funny, but not a good teacher. Don't take unless you are REALLY good at math already, then it might be ok.
I has him for pre-calc. Rushed through with out explaining the material. He stands at the white board and goes through a whole problem with out explaining what he is doing. Expects you to know everything about a graphing calculator. No proper review before tests. We had 3 tests due on the last week of the semster, including the final. Frustrating!
I had Mr Rush for Lib Arts 2 he went over everything entil everyone got it if you did not get it he would stay after class to help he was great need to be in class everyday it helps.
He's an OK professor. His class is part lecture/part online. He provides an Interactive Math to help with studying, which helps. The only negative I have on him is that he doesn't provide reviews for tests. So basically there's really no guidance for tests.
Great teacher I got an A. He does multiple choice tests and gives curves. Homework is optional, and you can always ask him questions outside and inside class.
Great teacher I got an A. He does multiple choice tests and gives curves. Homework is optional, and you can always ask him questions outside and inside class. Highly recommended.
Rush is never in a rush, he explains how to do the material and he is very helpful during his office hours. He gave biiiig curves on the test. You do have to do your homework if you want a good grade because some of the test you must show your work
I did good in the class but it wasn't easy. He methods in teaching are distracting and it is hard to see/understand his problems on the white board. He rushed through class but overall he was a good teacher.
Best math teacher I've ever had. Never ignores a question, and explains everything. He frequently went out of his way to ensure the people who wanted to learn did. Highly recommended.
Mr Rush is a awesome person (don't get me wrong). My problem was with his teaching style. He doesn't give proper test reviews, instead he assigns long assignments from the book. Its a self teach class practically, so if your not good at math then this class is not for you!
Liberal Arts 2 is VERY easy with Mr. Rush. I RECOMMEND HIM FOR THIS COURSE!! He helps you throughout the course and extends the due dates if needed. No midterm or exam. Very easy A.
Very Easy A. No tests. No Midterms. Very Helpful and answers questions when needed. Very prompt at answering e-mails.
EASIEST CLASS YOU WILL EVER TAKE! This class borders on painfully boring but if you are dreading math, take this class. Everything is on the computer in class, there are no tests, a million assignments all worth 1-7 points a piece, and extra credit. Unless you don't do the assignments, you are guaranteed above 100%
Had him for Int. Alg., and Pre-Calc. I like his teaching style, and test's aren't too bad. %80 test %20 take home + 12 exra credit points available. He goes over each kind of problem from the homework in class, and tells you what is going to be on the test. Just study and you'll do fine. **The Student Solutions Manual and Interact Math help a lot!
Professor Rush is a terrific instructor especially for students who are struggling! Choose him if you are seeking a patient, helpful instructor to give you more time to complete your assignments. He stays after class and answers questions and goes over work you do not understand, and tells you what is going to be on the test! Totally recommend him.
Easy and helpful, great online program
He is a nice person, but he is terrible at teaching. Doesn't write definitions out on the board, skips steps (assuming we know everything), doesn't pause between steps or ask if we understand, and doesn't ask us to try problems in class. I basically had to teach myself, and use the online tutors. Don't take him if you need step by step guidance.
great reviews! easy A
Teacher is great and very helpful in your success. If you show up, participate, do the work, no final exam, easy A. If you don't like math, but need it, take this class.
Good teacher, but tests were hard.
If you have to take MGF 1107, take Mr. Rush, easy A. He help you any way he can. I took him for the spring semester and got an A. I highly recommend him for MGF 1107.
Took prof rush for liberal arts 2 and it was a breeze. NO test, NO quizzes, NO final exam. Really nice teacher. don't take this class if you are looking for a challenge.
Educated on subject, but with a disregard to students. He moved very quickly and didn't fully explain material or answer questions. On one occasion,I tried to ask questions, but was told by other students to shut up and that my question was stupid. He then ignored my question and proceeded with the lesson without intervening.
Super nice teacher! Explains things easily and is very helpful. No tests, quizzes or final. Enjoyed taking his class and would take him again. The book is a waste of money. We hardly used it. All the assignments are done on Angel. Borrow a book. Don't waste your money on it.
If you value your GPA DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!! I started this class with a 4.0, carried an A all the way to the end until HE got behind and decided that he would fly through the last couple chapters and give us 3 tests on final exam day without any kind of review. I thought he was a nice guy until he crushed us all at the last minute.
Math is my strongest subject, but this is the worst math teacher I've ever had. He doesn't teach/explain anything. He just expects that we already know everything. He does EVERYTHING on a calculator and then tells us we're not allowed to use a calculator. He's not helpful AT ALL. Don't take this teacher unless you're good at teaching yourself.
Prof Rush is a basic teacher, if you're confident in your math you'll do good. He's easy on grading/curving, attendance. He's always available for help
Worst math professor I have had. He has little regard to his students, and does everything on the calculator (which you can't use on the tests). Does not grade homework, so all of your grade relies on the tests. He is always available, though.
A compassionate Instructor very patient and slow- to- anger. Always available to give help when needed. He acutal cares. The Best-of-the Best!
Mr Rush is amazing. He takes the time to explain, no matter what your level of understanding. Even though he obviously has his Masters in the subject, there is nothing condescending in his explanations. He's funny, makes class enjoyable, and is what a math prof should be. LOTS of group projects. I used fail algebra until now. Take him, he's great!
The class is a good way to review the basics prior to taking MGF 1106 and MGF 1107.
You will not learn anything, you will not know what your grade will be till after the final, and you will get seriously angry for paying for a textbook you hardly ever used yet he requires you buy it. Do not take this teacher if you actually want to learn anything.
I took Mr. Rush for my very first math class in college, was nervous at first, especially since math isn't my strong suit. You MUST attend class to understand how to do the work. MyMathLab is used for all homework. There were 4 tests and a final. He drops your lowest test grade as well. I got an A. Taking him again next semester for MAC1105.
good prof to take intermediate algebra explains everything barney style so no room for errors
great teacher very helpful and if you need extra help he is there. Not hard to pass his class if you do your work.
Mr. Rush worked with me after class, explained the concepts to me and took a genuine interest in my success. Plenty of homework, but he's the best math professor that I've ever had. I thought he was funny too.
The best instructor I have ever had. He is amazing and you will be privileged if you get to take a class with him. Hurry before he retires! !
Poor explanations on everything, often refers back to his intermediate algerbra class which I tested out of, often got himself confused in class, better off teaching yourself that's what I did, can't use graphing calculator until final, won't know grades until after final, disorganized. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE (Don't know grade yet)
Mr. Rush is a very nice man, but this has been the worst math class I've ever taken. He mainly just wrote examples on the board with little to no explanation on how to do the problems. The class fell behind 3 weeks and made us rush through all the material. The class ended up not getting a test or exam review. Find another teacher if want to pass.
Those that give him a terrible rating are the students that don't take the time out of their busy social lives to even try to succeed. If you fail its your fault, not his. He teaches you what you need to know, homework/reviews are done completely in MyMathLab, 3 tests and a final exam. Put the effort in and your grades reflect on it. I got an A+.
I really loved him as a teacher and he is very kind. The class was so chill I loved it.
Rush is very nice man willing to ask any questions you have, however his lectures consist of doing random examples from the book on the white board. He explains how its done, but not why or in detail. I ended up just teaching myself out of the book along with the notes i took in class. Class fell behind about 2-3 weeks and no exam review was given.
Rush is a great teacher!
Mr. Rush is very helpful, patient, and easy going . Pay attention, participate in class, submit homework on-time, and find responsible group partners and you will receive an easy A. He's really a great professor.
Professor Rush is great, great .. His lecturing is a joy. He is the BEST!
Quirky. As fun as algebra can be.
take him! college can be very stressful but there is nothing like having a professor that respects his students and who actually wants you to be successful and pass his class!
Good professor, his lectures consist of him doing example problems on the board, which makes homework easy, but you are gonna have to study a lot for the tests because there isn't a review for them in class.
Professor Rush is a great instructor. Show up for class do your homework and be with a group that is willing to work together . Goes over problems that are with the homework which helps you understand how to work it out. Accessible outside of class.
Ive always found math pretty difficult but prof rush is really good about walking through the steps slowly. The classes are pretty much going over the homework.. we work in groups and have group assignments that are graded. For our exam we were able to work in groups, which is the main reason i ended up acing the class.
Mr. Rush is a great teacher! Goes through each section step by step, and gives his own techniques that make problems easier to understand. He has a dry sense of humor and soft voice that makes it easy to feel comfortable in his class. All of the work, except for the midterm and final, are online with MyMathLabs. Overall I highly recommend Mr. Rush!
He is boring. But just do the work and you will pass. You get 3 chances for each test, they are easy with what he gives you. Homework is unlimited about of tries, with that it is cake. Group work is key, get a good grade on those and you will pass. The group work effects your grade the most.
I'm sure Mr. Rush is a nice guy. He is respectful and honest. That being said, he gives you a TON of homework. Get ready for HOURS of homework in this class - and it's all online. You have 3 tries at each test, but they're take home. Basically quizzes. Midterm and Final are multiple choice. Get one part wrong - the entire answer is wrong.
One of the best professors I have ever had. Maintained credibility throughout the entire semester (he really knows the material). Willing to work extra to help the students and makes the class fun. Do your homework and go to class.
Dr. Rush is a good dude and has a sweet heart. He is pretty awkward, but he's funny at the same time, whether he means to be or not. He tries his best and he will gladly pause lecture to help when needed,he responds to emails promptly, and he is almost always available outside of class. Everything is online now, I never go to class and have 96%. <3
