Everybody loves this guy - familiar with 6 languages, contacts in the Middle East, funny, clear, willing to help, conservative Christian, tough tests but you know what's on them. Take him if you can!

Dr. Wood made Russia one of the most fun classes ever. He is so funny, and I loved his lectures. Take good notes all his test questions are from them. Got to love this man!

This man changed my life.

Deserves his reputation. Arranges makeup classes on a weekend for mission trips, a cumulative final review the day before. You get the grade you deserve, though -good study skills prosper, the poor struggle, no matter the smartness. Gives pop quizzes at random to ensure attendance,reading. Hilarious

he's pretty easy, just study the notes. can't miss a class because his tests come from his lectures.

This was a really awesome class. Dr. wood is one of the funniest men i know. if you cant handle a hard class though dont take him. but i recomend it to anyone who wants to be challenged and have a good time with an awesome professor.

One of the BEST prof's at PLNU. I looked forward to his class every M,W,F. AWESOME lecturer. Hilarious and interesting. I didn't think I could learn so much in a history class and actually love it too! Not hard to get an A if you apply yourself. You'll end up getting the grade you truly deserve. Hope I get to have him again.

Seriously...I think he's CIA. And you can't say anything bad about CIA...because they know where you live. So...CIA and a good prof. that is all.

I learned so much through this class. I love Dr. Wood's classes from World Civ 1 to Modern Middle Asia and Islamic Civ!

Dr. Wood is a challenging teacher. His classes are hard, but they are fun. He makes jokes and tells stories in class. His tests are ok, if you study. He is a great professor!!

If you're one of those people that don't like history but would like to be semi-interested in it since you have to take it, take Wood's class. He's hilarious. He also makes the material interesting and easy to learn. Take good notes, use the term sheets, and do the reading - you'll be absolutely fine.

HILARIOUS! But kind of intimidating too... I would compare him to House (like the TV show) He knows his stuff and if a great explainer, but you are going to have to read because he quizzes all the time on the reading and his tests are pretty intense for a gen-ed so STUDY!

Dr. Wood is amazing. I look forward to class and hate when it ends. He is absolutely hilarious. Anyone that has the ability to make history as interesting as he does deserves a medal. Study for quizzes and tests, because he enjoys catching people off guard. taking his class will be an amazing experience no matter what.

He is one of the best professors I've had and is the main reason why I chose a history major.He's a great guy, and really makes the class interesting. If your thinking of taking him you better hurry. His class fills up fast.

Really hard teacher. If you don't apply yourself you will NOT do well. However, he's really inspiring and funny. I hated history before I took his class, but he made it interesting and understandable. Keep up with reading, because quizzes happen often.

Wood's class is the best I have taken in four years of college. Regardless of your interest in history, he will entertain you and keep you on your toes for the entire period. The pre-class reading can be skimmed in five minutes and you will do fine on the mini quizzes. The tests require some studying but his overheads allow you to take useful notes

He made learning fun again. I actually wanted to go to his class... and it was a GE for crying out loud. He is engaging and hilarious. I also wanted to read the chapter because i wanted to be a part of the class.. that never happens. Gives outline for notes and fills the rest in with lecture. Test is not that hard, just study your notes. LOVE HIM.

Awesome history professor! I actually look forward to go to his lectures because Dr. Wood teaches it in a way that is engaging and interesting. Take notes, do your reading, and you should be fine for his exams. Watchout for the pop quizzes based on reading tho! (almst a guarantee he gives a pop quiz for the reading the next class day after an exam

He is very clear one what is expected.I thought that his tests were very fair and he wants you to succeed. It is a lot of reading but very manageable. I wouldn't take the class with anyone else, he makes it enjoyable.

He is one of the best professors at Point Loma. He is not easy, and there's no way to get around that. But you will actually learn a lot! Please take him!

His classes tend to be fairly tedious and challenging. However, he is a great teacher with a sense of humor that students tend to love. I would rather work a little harder and enjoy the class than take an easy class that is miserably boring.

One of the best professors at point loma. His class is not easy by any means and you have to study a lot if you want an A and read because he gives pop quizzes that are straight from the reading. It is worth investing your time into though because he makes it fun to be a part of class discussions and actually makes history interesting.

Dr. Wood is not an easy professor, but you learn a lot. I gained a new passion for history and am not taking my CSET to teach it in high-school. Doc Wood transformed my life.

I saved this class for my senior year and I'm glad I did. It was so much fun! I had all easy classes that semester except for doc wood's but I looked forward to coming to class. Know those terms he gives out. Those are basically the whole test. You have to read for the pop quizzes. But they aren't hard if you spend the 30 minutes to read the book.

Definitely my favorite GE I have taken. Doc Wood is an amazing teacher. He expects you to read and will give pop quizzes. If you put the work into this class, it will pay off! He is a great lecturer and loves what he teaches. That is why I love going to this class. It is interesting and entertaining and is normally the highlight of my school day.

Really good professor and gives really amazing lectures. He is quite personable and very hilarious but very tough grader. Too many pop quizzes with no time to prepare for them and rushes through them way too fast. Very strict on attendance even if you're sick so if you want to pass, you have to attend every single lecture and take lots of notes!!!

Dr. Wood is one of the hardest professors I've ever had. He's also one of the funniest. If you want to take history just to get an easy A don't take him. If you want to learn history in a new light and actually work hard for that A, take him. I personally recommend him because it was a great feeling to know all my hard work paid off in the end.

I love Dr. Wood he's amazing. His pop quizzes are a little too "pop" and i usually fail them but its ok. He's hilarious too definitely would recommend.

Dr. Wood is a fantastic teacher. You will learn SO much is his class, but be ready to work hard for your grade. He gives pop quizes that are sometimes pretty difficult, he grades his exams pretty hard, but his lectures are amazing. He's a funny guy that can hold your attention for the entire class. Take thorough notes. Those will help you pass.

I had him for World Civilizations 1. he gives incredible lectures, grades extremely tough. quiz every week. cannot be absent. Hardest class I've ever taken.

Attendance is absolutely necessary for success but he makes it worth it. His lectures are on topic, easy to take notes from, and he makes them funny and interesting. He definitely knows what he's talking about and is passionate about teaching. He makes getting an A difficult, so be ready to work hard if you aren't okay with a B or C.

Dr. Wood is my favorite professor at Point Loma. He makes history interesting even when you don't feel like learning. I've learned more about history in this one class than I did all throughout high school. He's funny, knows each student on a first name basis, and really wants you to succeed. But you have to work for it.

This class is painful not gonna lie. The class consists of 10 pop quizzes, 2 midterms, and 1 final. That's it. So, if you fail a midterm you are going to struggle to pass the class.

Dr. Wood's class is pretty tough, BUT he is such a great professor. He explains the content thoroughly and makes himself very available outside of class. Every now and then he'll roast some students, but it's all in good fun. This course is difficult, but he genuinely cares about his students and will help you know what to do in order to pass.

Professor Wood is a great, hilarious teacher; although I don't particularly like history, his lectures were so interesting and engaging that the class seemed shorter than it actually was. That said, he is NOT an easy professor; you cannot skip classes and his frequent pop quizzes include extremely specific questions.

Dr. Wood was one of the best history teachers I've had. He's very well organized with Canvas and all of the online assignments, making his class much less stressful and more consistent. Lectures can be boring if you don't pay attention but actually quite interesting if you do pay attention. Going to want the textbook. Highly recommend Dr. Wood.

Dr. Wood is AWESOME! So many people told me his class would be terrible before I started it, but I absolutely love it. Im not even that into History but his lectures are so intriguing. It is a hard class and you need to read closely and study hard, but if you study the term sheets and memorize them you should. be good to go.Just pay attention well

Dr. Wood has been one of my favorite professors. His lectures are so interesting and he does a great job keeping the class engaged. He genuinely cares about his students and gives you the tools you need to succeed in his class. Studying the term sheet is a MUST. His tests are difficult but if you review well you'll be okay.

Bill wood will make you work harder than any other GE on campus will, but if you're up to the challenge and willing to work hard, you will be rewarded. Strongly recommend.

Overall, Dr. Wood is a decent professor. The content that he teaches makes sense. His lectures are very fast-paced and are hard to keep up with. If you miss a class, then it will result in not knowing that topic for an exam-and there is at least one piece of information from every lecture on every exam. He frequently gives pop quizzes.

Don't be afraid of taking Dr. Wood. He wants you to succeed in his class. Just make you sure you take good notes and listen in class. There are pop quizzes about once a week, as long as you do the reading you will be fine. His lectures are super engaging and interesting.

Explains everything clearly. TAKE NOTES, READ, & PAY ATTENTION! Very direct about what is important to know. Makes jokes in lecture. Tests weigh your grade heavily but he is generous if you have been attentive in class and participate when possible. No presentations. 1 easy project. Hard class, but good professor. Drops quizzes to buffer grade!
