Two Words POWER TOOL!!!

any more problems with that?
Tests are almost all definitions, so if you can memorize well his class is for you. If not, don't. He seems like he is ****ish, but is from California, so he has the cali accent.
The class is hard, but Prof Woodland really spoonfeeds it to you. I thought he was a great professor and I don't know why the other raters have such a problem with him!
His class is pretty easy. Like one person said he pretty much spoonfeeds you what you need to know on the exams. All exams are fill in the blank but, are much easier than you would expect. Not a bad professor to take.
He wants you to memorize too many formulas. After the last test was graded he quickly ran out the back door before I could challenge his "correct" answers. This **** likes the back door. No other teacher was available at night; he ruined my GPA.
Terrible Teacher. Not easy to talk to and doesn't offer assistance easily. Rather difficult to deal with.
This class ruined my 3.8 GPA. I got an 4.0 in Macro but I also had a great teacher. Woodland is not available for help, he assumes that if you fail it is because you did not study or attend class. He only offers 3 exams with no other chances for grades. Avoid this class and teacher combo.
I thought professor Woodland was great. He used great examples to help you understand and can occassionally make the class laugh. Test are all fill in the blank, but he does always tell you what is on it. Not a class you can really skip
booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I did great in Macro. I like Economics OK. This teacher was _terrible_. He's one of those people who understands his subject really well but has forgotten how to clarify it for people who are new to it. I had to drop this crap because despite studying I barely passed and then failed the first 2 exams. To be fair, I didn't use his office hours.
Great class. A little hard but take good notes and you'll be fine. Great prof. interesting and knows his stuff.
At first glance he seems funny and easy going. Then he suggests you spend 6 hours a week studying. When you miss A class and go to him for help in his office, you see his true face. He will turn you away unless you have gotten and studied notes for hours, but only after giving a condescending speech about how it wastes his time to "teach twice".
Dr. Woodland is a deceving professor. His class begins as if you will learn something, and the class slowly turns into a race. Keeping up, even going to class for 3 weeks straight, studying 5 hours before the exam..gave me a D on one of three exams. I am a 3.6 GPA business major, it did not help, take it with someone else.

Very good class. Very hard class, but if you take good notes and study, you will do fine. Do not miss class, notes each day are very important.
Good class, but you have to attend
You must attend to do well
GO TO CLASS!!!! If you go to class, pay attention, its an easy A or B. Can get complicated but just take good notes and communicate if you dont understand something. I liked the dude
he is good
This is not an easy class. The professor is nice, and somewhat clear on the information he presents. But you should never miss class. Exams are hard & based solely on your notes. There are no multiple choice on exams either- all short answer and you have to have a graph with everything. The only thing your grade reflects are the 3 exams you take.
This class is difficult, and he just makes it a lot more difficult. He says the test is just like the homework, but it's not. Your final grade is based off of three exams of like 20 questions or less each. This class is horrible.
interesting lectures, tests are straightforward if you study and attend
This class is quite difficult. Only three tests, all material learned through lecture, no book. Tests are a bit different than homework, which makes them quite difficult. Only take this class if you're prepared for a challenge and some stress.
Attendance is not mandatory but you ll be behind if you do miss class, so dont plan on it.
Terrible! No support after hours. If you miss one class you at risk to miss whole class... Very difficult to talk to.
I learned how to learn from this cat. Have not applied class material since, but apply lessons learned daily. Sit in the front row, listen, and study hard.
If you want to do well in this class, don't miss the lectures. Pay attention, don't snooze, and take really good notes. He is willing to help out during office hours if you have trouble. Just stay focused, study hard, and PAY ATTENTION. If you put enough effort into this class, it will pay off. You'll learn excellent study skills!
Woodland is a cool professor to have. He makes class interesting and has some very funny things to say. He also teaches well and you will learn very much about economics if you take him. His classes are quite hard. Three tests that looked nothing like the homework. Take the class if you're interested in econ, but not for an easy A.
I do not recommend him.
Difficult class but not too hard to get an A if you attend
Not an easy course but fairly straightforward. ATTEND!!
Had to study daily in 6 week format, but lectures were interesting and tests had few surprises.
good class but difficult
The professor makes the class interesting given its economics. Do not take this professor if you miss classes.
Class and professor are very good.
One of the best professors I have had at EMU
Was nervous about stats but found the class interesting and useful
Good professor. Not too difficult if you take good notes.
He's a smart guy but I cannot stand him. I really wish he would stop talking about the test and what questions will be on the test, and what you're going to fail on the test...Life is more than tests. He's always being passive aggressive and making cracks about how many students are absent. He should stick to teaching and cut out his side comments.
Good class, must better than 201.
The professor made the class interesting.
Must attend since the online book is not too helpful. Not too hard to get an "A" if you work at it.
Very good professor. The course was more interesting than I thought it would be.
Great professor! Made the subject interesting.
Professor made the class interesting. Tests seemed harder than homeworks. You have to attend to do well.
I liked the gambling examples.
Very good teacher, highly reccommend taking him for Stats. Class is kind-of difficult, but the exams are exactly like the lectures and practice problems. Always available to help outside of class.
Very good teacher. Tests somewhat challenging.
Excellent class and professor.
Good class but somewhat hard.
Teacher was funny and tried to make the class interesting. 6 week format is difficult.
test based on notes
Good Prof, but the course is not easy. Must attend.
The professor makes a difficult course fun.
The professor makes a difficult course fun.
Funny and engaging guy, but would go off on a tangent which was fun, but then fly through the difficult, theoretical stuff. The first day of class find a couple study partners - if you miss class you will really need notes. Tests are hard, but if you can do the homework and truly understand it you'll be okay, but not easy - tests are still tricky.
Much better than my 201 prof, made the course somewhat interesting. Tests are difficult if you miss classes.
Tests are difficult! Prof makes the course interesting. You can get a good grade if you work hard.
Micro econ. Great teacher; attend class, take notes, and you will succeed. I cannot recommend him enough. I am not an econ major, and he has been my favorite professor over 3 years.
For Microeconomics, he was extremely helpful. If you attend EVERY lecture and pay great attention to detail there is no reason now to get an A. However, the content is complex, and he does help if you ask questions, but otherwise he explains what you need to know prior to each exam. He provides a challenge and prepares you well.
Went to him for extra help. He told me no. Said to do the same hw problems over and over again. Tests are hard. Final weighs more. A lot more rigorous than other profs/classes which you'll appreciate when you see this stuff come up elsewhere, not being taught as well, but you understand b/c you had him. Text sucks. Basically must attend.
Greatest Teacher Ive ever had. Knows his stuff, entertaining lectures. Have to study for an A, but only lazy people complain about that. I'm taking him again for Econ 310 right now.
Dr.Woodland is a intelligent makes taking statistics as interesting as it can be. He is helpful and grades fairly.
Hilarious teacher! Awesome. Not easy, you have to go to class every time but if you take good notes (he writes everything on the board) it's easy to do well. Very entertaining class discussion.
He was an absolutely terrible professor. The entire course felt like review of the intro classes; disappointing for a 400 level course. Can barely read what he puts on the board and his explanations don't make sense. Little of what was covered appeared on the tests. Avoid him if you can (for this class it's impossible as he's the only teacher.)
This is by far the worst teacher at EMU, he wouldn't let me retake an exam because I was sick, even though I had a doctors note.
entertaining prof, interesting course
Hard but interesting class. Attendance and good notes are key. Professor is funny. Exams are not multiple choice.
Entertaining professor and course. Good examples and applications of economics. Challenging, but if you are good in math it is not too difficult to get an A.
Difficult to take in the spring, but the professor made it interesting.
Great course and applications, enjoyed the risk and gambling examples. Although a little calculus is used, fairly simple for any student with any proficiency in math.
This teacher is rude and unhelpful. I went to him for help and he told me that I was never going to understand and that I haven't tried. Boring and confusing lectures. I would recommend to take any other teacher on the planet over Dr. Woodland.
the previous rater basically summed up Prof. Woodland; he is rude, no helpful. I went to office hours 2weeks into the semester and he told me to drop because i wasnt going to get it. he wasnt willing to help because i didnt come to office hours the first day. NOT understanding in the least bit.
Teacher is funny and keeps our interest. Tests are fair. Students that don't try, complain and blame the teacher.
Class much better than I thought it would be. Prof makes class intersting. Tests are not easy, but he tells you pretty much what is on the test.
Pretty funny, really nice, get's the point across.
He is AWESOME. Kinda flamboyant and hilarious. To do well in this class you MUST ATTEND though. I went to class during the first 1/3 got an A, 2nd test hardly went to class and got a 9/35 and 3rd test I went to class and got an A on the final. He will tell you exactly what to study so just go to class and you will be fine
Kept me interested. HATED Macro, he makes micro a lot easier to understand. Goes over everything, and uses examples. Explains things very well and if you come to class and take notes, youll be sure to understand it.
Bill Woodland is a clear professor that provides good explanations of concepts and quality examples. His handwriting may be the messiest i've ever seen but overall has background knowledge and exams are straightforward.
Your grade is based entirely on three exams. However, he assigns a homework a couple of class sessions prior an exam to help in preparing for the exam. Coming to class is mandatory. If you are lazy or just looking for an easy A, then take it with someone else. If you want put in some effort and get a decent grade, than take him. I ended up with a B
Very good and clear Professor. This class is solely based on lecture, therefore you should make very good notes and don't miss any class.Textbook is just for homework.
He only uses the textbook for extra credit. He will repeatedly tell you not to skip class, he's right. You will miss a lot if you skip a class. And if you ask a question that you are confused about anything, he will say it's because you missed a lot of classes and he knows you have missed, even if you have been to ever class.
Pretty clear. Come to class and you'll do fine. Grade is based on 3 exams only. There's no extra points in the course. Didn't open the book once. The class before an exam is where he goes over the "homework" (AKA a non-graded study guide) and this is kind of helpful for the econ problems. Hes pretty arrogant and rude though.
This was the hardest class! He is a very inconsistent grader and has the longest test I have ever taken. There is no participation needed for this class because he talks at you all class. This class has grad and undergrad students and you take the same exam as the grad students. I think I have seen one undergrad finish the test in the time given.
If you attend every class period and take good notes, then there is absolutely no reason not to get at least a B+ in the class. Don't get the textbook. Your grade consists of just 3 exams, but he is extremely clear on what will be on the test. The material can be difficult, but be sure to go to his office hours if you don't understand something.
You need to show up for class. If you can understand formula's easy then it shouldn't be hard. Gives homework which are usually straight from your notes. The test are usually right from the homework and practice problems he gives you, if you practice then you can do well. However, if you try to BS it the class will eat you alive.
He likes to give a lot of information that will not be on the tests. His test can be hard if you don't go to class. You have to go to class, I don't know why people complain about coming to class, you paid for it. Anyways, he gives optional homework that is very helpful for the test.
He is a great professor as long as you are willing to study! His tests are not that easy since most of it is written, but his lectures are amazing and you will definitely learn a lot from him! You don't need he book, tells you everything that will be on the test. Doesn't give any homework or classwork, your grade is based on 3 tests.
He is my favorite professor that I've had at Eastern. Come to lecture and take good notes and the three tests that comprise your grade will be easy. If you miss even one lecture you could be fairly lost, as the book is irrelevant. The lectures are hilarious, and he makes it extremely simple to grasp the material.
Your grade is based on 3 tests. Tests are kind of difficult but if you study it isn't awful. He makes it very clear what is on the test. He does not use canvas and you must go to class to take notes. You can be pretty lost if you skip a class. Don't buy the book it's a waste. He's a really funny guy and a great lecturer!
He tells you everything that is going to be on the test in advance. As long as you study the things he tells you to, this class is an easy A. Skipping class is a BAD idea. He gives out no homework besides a review for each test and it isn't graded, and he hardly relies on the book at all. You will be lost if you skip.
Professor Woodland was great at explaining what was going to be on the tests, and going over anything that someone had problems with understanding. Attendance is not mandatory however I didn't miss one class and it was hard to comprehend everything still. There is no homework but before each test you get a review that is similar to the tests.
Micro is a tricky concept, but Bill makes this class extremely easy to follow. You only need the book if you want to get the extra credit points. He grades you on 3 exams and thats it. Gives you a study guide and tells you what you need to study. You have to go to class to get the material. If you study the material and go to class you will pass!
Don't take him. He's arrogant and rude and doesn't think he's ever wrong. Don't bother asking a question because he will start off with 'no' even if you're right and then says the exact same thing you just said but in a different way simply because he can't be wrong. He makes fun of opinions that aren't his and has not respect for his students.
Funny guy, loves to have class discussions. I found them to be enjoyable or even funny, but I could see some getting offended. He can be opinionated, but I never found it to be a problem. Otherwise, great professor. Very clear in what will be on the exams, and goes through plenty of examples. Also, miss a lecture, good luck.
Great professor, attendance mandatory if you missed class hard to get back, he explained with lots of examples, 3 exams no homework.
Good prof for a class I wasn't very good at. Super helpful when I went to office hours many times. Do NOT miss or waste time on your phone in class, or else he won't help. Helpful to motivated students who want a good grade. MUST attend class and STUDY. Lazy people, do NOT bother.
