Very cool dude.
best music class @ sdsu; VERY good prof, LOTS of xtra credit
He is awesome, always has a smile on his face, which makes it easier to learn.
Cool dude? Are you guys kidding? If he doen't like you,he'll chase you awa
Come to class, do your job, get a good grade. Pleasant personality.
he has the most extensive knowledge of playing trombone and jazz of anyone
Awesome teacher. very knowledgable and dedicated towards Jazz studies.

if you do the listening and come to class youre set always happy & interesting
The best class at SDSU! You will love jazz after this class
nice, and lots of extra credits. listeng section was very hard for me.
I love this class! I learned a lot. Yeager is very knowledgable, loves what he does and it shows!
doesn't matter what major you're in, he just makes you feel like Jazz is the num 1, won't help much office's hrs, 100 YEARS-OLD TEST !!!
expensive class. listening can be very hard. grammy nominated prof. knows so much he can be very scary. makes you embrace jazz as much as he does. has famous contacts. played for tony bennet and frank sinatra. very nice guy.
passionate about music and a nice guy--for non-music majors he breaks down the terminology and allows a glimpse into why musicians do what they do--a lot of CD purchases necessary for the class($$$!!), but worth it if you already love jazz.
final is like 68% of total grade, cumulative (but not listening part). if you do poorly on it, you're screwed big time. admirable prof. good guy.
Awesome??? Knowledgeable???
He is a very good person, & instructor. You will learn a lot in this class. He gives you more then a chance to do well in his class. Has lots of extra credit. I enjoyed his class.
He and two other professors(Warman & Flood) rotated in teaching the course every 5 weeks. Pretty easy. For Yearger's part, we didn't have to go to class; it was taught online. Might seem hard, but is not-just take notes.
Incredible teacher! 80% of the class consists of listening to great jazz music. He also gives extra credit for going to jazz clubs! Excellent teacher, he really makes you appreciate this art form.
Annoying man. Would often go on tangents that had nothing to do with jazz. Didn't learn anything in his class. Don't take him!!!
If exams were based on his life stories, everyone would get an A! He often is not talking about jazz as it pertains to the class. The listening aspect of this course is very cool but it stops there!! If you can afford it ,do a lot of extra credit!
He just did an internet portion of our class that was really easy. He tells you exactly how the test is going to be and if you study a day before you can get an A on it
Yeager was awesome. i enjoyed the class very much. the listening was cool, and the tests were pretty easy. gives lots of easy extra credit opportunites. strongly recommend him.
super fun class. don't bother buying the book if you go to all the lectures, he doesn't test on anything he hasn't covered in class. Lots of extra credit opportunities.
Fun class! GREAT teacher! 3 midterms but he drops one lowest, 1 paper, 1 final and extra credit opportunities. So what if he talks about his life stories?! At least he makes the class ENTERTAINING and it relates to the class!
He's a rockstar and a musical superstar! American idol, WATCH OUT!!! Billy is on the way to hollywood! He's funny, personable and a gem to the music society!
i learned two things, dont do drugs and bob hope's wife is a b***h, go to the extra credit, listening parts of the tests are easy.
finals comperhensive, do the extra cr if class is hard for you, lecture are borning, no quizes just exams the first 2 exams are easy, exam #3 hard and so is the final, do take him if you don't have to take mus 345 with DR. Donald M
The class is boring and the music isn't always that great. He goes off tangent all the time! Studey the music and you'll do fine.
His class is so GREAT that the listening guides and the easy concert report are the best parts of the tests. Also, his extra credit for concerts are very helpful to your grade to an easy A.
The best thing about this class is if you had SOC 355 with Jill Esbenshade, then you must take this class to ease your consciousness and learn a better perspective on Jazz and bring your required CDS to class for the listening portions on the tests
By far, the best music professor at SDSU. Take it with Esbenshade for SOC 355 and break a tough semester. Be sure to buy all the required CDs because you will need to remember all of his listening samples for listening part of his tests.
The best jazz professors you will ever take. Yeager is much understandable and enjoyable than Minority Group Relations (Sociology 355) with Jill Esbenshade. Extra credit concerts are a lot of fun and helpful for your grade because it will ease a tough semester.
The best professor at SDSU?
He's a musical genius and the music is fantastic! The classes seem a little long b/c he loves to tell stories. Tons of xc to help your grade. The tests are hard if you don't study but a breeze if you go to class and listen to the CDs. You have to love his passion and he's incredibly talented.
Great professor! Class is fairly easy if you go to class, read the book and listen to the cd's. Tons of extra credit offered so do them and you'll be set!
I dont know what these people are talking about! this professor is super cool!!! very funny, knows his stuff. go to class take notes, study the music and you will do fine. plus he offers tons of fun extra credit so it's hard to fall behind. DONT LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS!!!
Still a great Jazz professor!
Gives you so much extra credit it's ridiculous. Class is not too bad either.
This class is super boring unless you are a music major! tons of extra credit but make sure you study for the final. I had almost 100% going into the final and I got a D on the final and ended with a B. Very hard to get ahold of!!
I used to be a music major and it doesnt matter if you have a history of music or not. It's basically a bunch of memorization of names and instruments. Lectures consist of listening to music and short lectures. He always lets you out early. Just be sure to listen to the CDs, buy the book and study it you'll get at least a B. He's a cool guy.
KINDA HARD BUT LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT!!!IF INTERESTED HAVE BOOK AND ALL CD'S WILL SELL FOR CHEAPER THAN SDSU BOOKSTORE!!!EMAIL ME AT [email protected]
He's a **** dick who knows half as much as he should for a professor in his field.
he's an underqualified ego-maniac who loves to belittle people
he knows, deepdown, that he's a fraud behind the trombone. he tries to compensate for his lack of knowledge about and ability for improvisation by lifting his leg...much like a urinating dog...while playing. i've seen him mock undeserving students and tear
great!! super player and take no**** prof. reg: uderqualified egomaniac comment. who belittles ppl. You should practice your part, then he wont yell at you. I repsect a prof who tells it like it is. He yelled at me (prettty harsh) during rehersal. So I practiced all night and next rehersal...I kicked ass and he said so. go Bill!!!!!!
This guy bugs the heck outta me!!!
reg: retort to belittle ppl comment: I did practice my part. he didn't yell at me. he yelled at this poor fat kid who shouldn't have been playing lead trp and who wouldn't stand up for him self. i had no problem except that i was too good for his lame ass band.

easy class. u only have him for 5 wks, which is all online so u really dont have him at all. That test is hard.
The best easy A you will ever get. just go to the xtra credit concerts & write your paper & the tests should be no problem at all.
His tests are pretty hard, but if you study your notes and go to class everyday you should be able to pass his tests. He isn't very helpful to the students, nor is he funny, which he tries too hard to be, but if you're willing to go to his class everyday and go to extra credit concerts, you could easily get a B.
Yeager knows what HE is doing, but can't come to grips with the fact that others do not have his talent/ understanding of music. He DOES go off on tangents all the time, yet when it comes to exams he still expects you to know the material he never covered. Steer clear of old Yeager!
this is a great class. The prof. knows his stuff. Be prepared to work hard but it's worth it.
If you are taking Music 151 you will have 3 diffrent teachers during the semester. When you get Yeager his class is online so the only time you would see him is on test day. To be Honest I hated this class but I went to most of the extra credit and I got a A. So as long as you go to the concert series and extra credit you will FOR SURE pass

NONE but the best GE professor
Good class to take for GE.
Great class, well organized and fun. If you do poorly on a test, there are plenty of extra credit opportunities to raise your score. Great music!!
Great class, well organized and fun. If you do poorly on a test, there are plenty of extra credit opportunities to raise your score. Great music!!
Great class and fun. Loads of extra credit if you do poorly on a test. Bill is a great musician and teacher!
i'm not a jazz fan, but he made me into one. he's enthusiasm and passion for the subject made the class fun!! you must take this class, or you'll miss out on a great teacher!! class is straight forward, study what is asked and you will do well!
Terrible lecture, very random little stories that will not be tested on. Expensive CD's have to be bought for class, (6 of them) required performance that you have to pay for which is actually teachers own group. Must do extra credit to get a passing grade.
You need to listed to a lot of music so accordingly you buy a five dics CD set, the first test was the hardest because it dealt more with terminology and very few questions delt with the music. Half of the tests are listening to 30 seconds of music and choosing the title of the song, the rest of the tests were about the composers & other hard stuff
We mostly focused on jazz. You'll get an easy A or B (if you slack off) if you go to all concerts (even the extra credit ones, if you want) and study all of the tracks he gives you thoroughly (until you're sick of it). He tries to make the class fun, with mp3s and YouTube videos! The class wasn't even in session the whole time, which was a plus.
This class is easy but the teacher is lame. He is sooooo crazy. Music is his life and he expects it to be yours too. If you want an A take the class but have as little communication with the professor as possible.
Good: overall the class is easy because of the extra credit. about 8 extra credit concerts and each is worth 3% more. Most of class is online. Bad: extremely boring concerts tests are hard uses wikipedia (anyone can edit it) but i got an A for doing prety much nothing.
No actual lectures to attend. Everything's on the website. Tests are exactly what he tells you to study. Seems like a really nice guy. I like all the songs he picked for the tests. Majority of the concerts aren't bad (but there were definitely some boring ones). Good GE class.
Professor Yeager is a really nice guy. He picks really good music for the tests. Overall, the class is really fun if you have an interest in music. Class is easy if you go to all of the concerts 15 points each (10 concerts), 4 exams, the first two were kind of hard, but the last two were amazingly easy.
Really nice professor! attending class is not mandatory. 10 concerts and 4 test. you just need to study and memorize the songs then you will do fine.
he is the best!!! take him
Very helpful and flexible. Very generous. Necessary to go to all 10 concerts...some are long, but simple attendance really helps the grade. four tests, all fairly easy.
I hate this guy. He is extremely egotistical and pathetic. He makes you listen to cds of the jazz greats that he compiled himself that have a couple of tracks of him thrown in them. his lectures are meaningless. his tests are extremely difficult. i cant stand him. needs to retire!!!
Passionate about music but you never have to go to class. All info is online. Online quizzes after every class but you can take them anytime before the midterm/final. You have 24 hours to complete the 1 hour midterm/final. All questions from quizzes, so either write them down or print them out to help. EASY A- TAKE HIM!
Prof is cool, this class is really boring but you could miss every class and still get an a. 4 tests each with 30 songs that you have to identify (not as hard as it sounds i learned all the songs the night before). The book part is harder, pay attention to artist details. 1 concert review, really not that hard. I got a b+ only bc of the book work.
quizzes and tests are all online... class attendance mandatory when u have to go.. but if you print out the practice questions throughout the notes you will ace the quizzes and tests..not given enough time to complete the midterm/final(1 hr) but if you look through your notes enough you will do fine
Easy A. Didn't even go to class and I got an A. Just make sure you keep up with all the quizzes and tests that are all online and you have on essay to write based on a concert you have to watch, but overall the class is very easy.
Easy class, DO NOT MISS online quizzes. Class is mandatory on the days he tells you to come. Movies every class are interesting and entertaining. Pretty easy A. Take this class!!
I never went to class. All you do is listen to songs anyway. Everything is online. There's about one or two quizzes a week. The questions are found in the readings so write them down. The midterm and final are the same questions from those quizzes. You also have to go to a concert and write a paper about it. Overall easy A. Take this class!
Everything online. Do not need to ever attend class to get an A. One concert you must attend at the end & write a page write up on. One quiz a week due every Friday. Need textbook to answer quiz questions and final.
Really really easy A. Tests are online and based off the textbook. If you bother going to class, it's pretty mellow and you get to listen to music for an hour.
Easiest class ever. If you don't get an A, something is seriously wrong with you and maybe college isn't for you.
The class is a hybrid and I love that there was no class on Fridays! Class isn't mandatory but he does go over a lot of the answers for the quizzes in class. Pretty easy, just either attend class or read the book and listen to the mp3s he posts!
Easiest class ever! I attended one or two classes at the beginning of the semester. There is a test every week, but all of the answers are in the book. There is a listening portion to each test, but he puts all of the songs on Blackboard so you can find the answers. He also lets you retake the test 5 times! Take this class for an easy A!
He is super nice and the class is very easy. You only need to take an easy test every week and a final and all are online. In addition, you need to write a concert report. Attendance is not mandatory.
Going to class is pointless. There is one quiz per week and all answers are in the book. Very easy class just do not miss a quiz or it will lower your grade a lot! There is a mandatory music concert where you have to write a short, easy review. Also there is an extra credit concert. I would definitely recommend this class.
Honestly, I took this class just for an easy ge and it definitely is not a breeze. I mean sure it's doable but way too much work. 50 question exam EVERY WEEK and a final. No book, just previously recorded lectures and video clips of music that you have to identify in the exam. Got an A, but I regret taking this class.
Class is online. His exams are put online every Wednesday and you have until Thursday night to take them. The music is decent and gets good towards the end. Very easy because you get 3 chances to take the exam. You will also realize some tricks when you take the course.... ;) You only have to go to 1 concert and write a short review on it, easy!!!
The tests are much but you get used to it. I would just print out his pdf's and highlight them because the answers are in them verbatim. Take notes on the music and what you hear because you have to name the artist. I would take this over an in class ge any day. Be resourceful is my biggest tip ;)
Online class where you will learn the history of music in America. Lot harder class than I thought it would be but if you put in the time, you should get an A
Intro to Pop Music is very, very easy online class. Weekly 50 question tests with listening and identifying portions but you can use your notes as it is entirely online. There is one required paper and you have to attend a concert and write about it. Really simple. Then the final which is just questions from the previous tests. Take his class.
Great prof and some great music too. It's a great GE if you like the flexibility of an online class.
I LOVED Yeager's online class! He is very passionate about music. There are exams each week and a cumulative final, but you have 3 attempts for each and the highest score is taken. You get to listen to 20 music videos each week and you learn interesting info. I loved the music so much that I created a Spotify playlist with a lot of the songs!
There's a 50 question exam every week MAKE SURE YOU DON'T FORGET TO DO THEM or else it will be hard to get a solid A. This class is really easy and it's completely online. As long as you remember to take the exams and take advantage of the 3 tries per exam, you should be good. Be resourceful. There's a mandatory concert and short, easy paper.
online class was one of the easiest ever. the answers are all on quizlet. easy a!
Loved this class. Easy A as long as you do the assignment. He is also clearly very passionate about music so it makes his online lectures more interesting. Definitely recommend
Super easy online class. Weekly tests but you will figure out ways to get 100% on every test. There is one concert you have to go to and write a one page paper on, easy. You can finally meet the teacher there and he is a really nice guy who composed the concert. If you are looking for an easy GE class, I would definitely take this.
Love this professor/class! Took it online and had quizzes once a week. You had two days to take them and could take it up to three times with your best score recorded. There is one concert you are required to go to and write a report on it but it is super easy! Loved all the music he posted for us to listen to. TAKE THIS CLASS EASY A!!!!
Easiest class at the university probably. Just follow along with the lectures at your own pace and you're sure to get 100 on each quiz
14 exams all open book and note. Pretty easy. There is one very short (2-3 page double spaced) required concert paper that you can easily get an A on. All online except for one required concert.
14 weekly quizzes online with multiple choice questions and 30 second sound bites where you have to identify the singer/instrumentalist/band. All the word answers are online and the music is easy enough. Didn't have to read or watch and of the lectures recorded. You have 3 attempts at each quiz and the highest score is taken.
TAKE THIS CLASS FOR AN ONLINE MUSIC GRADE. Literally google and the shazam app is all you need you will get an A. The hardest thing is remembering to take the weekly test.
Awesome and interesting class. Lots of information though and a test every week. One mandatory concert paper that is graded pretty easy.
One 50 question multiple choice test due every week with one concert report and a final. He posts lecture notes, lecture videos, and music videos for every week. Pretty easy A if you remember to take all of his tests.
Take this online class for an easy A to satisfy the GE requirement. There's a shared google doc with the answers to the weekly quizzes. So there's no need to watch the lectures. No required textbook. There is a required concert to attend and a written report on it. Easy A!
Great teacher. I took this class online and it was by far the easiest class I have ever taken. Yeager is beyond qualified to teach this class. All the answers are online for the weekly exams.
Such an easy A class. Every week there are quizzes with 50 question and all the answers are online. There is one required concert you have to attend a write a two page paper on but that is it. This class is fun and Professor Yeager makes the class interesting!
Easiest class ever. There are weekly exams with 50 questions but all of the answers are online so they're easy to get the full points on. Plus you get to listen to some great music which is a bonus. You have to attend one concert and write a short paper on it but that's pretty easy too. Definitely recommend this class!
Super easy online GE. Just make sure to do the tests every week, but those are easy. You'll figure out how to get A's on all of them, don't worry. Also, there's one paper, but don't stress. it only has to be just over a page and is graded easily. Esay A!
Easy class. Weekly quiz and one paper. You can also learn and get fun in this class. You just need to take time to the weekly quiz. Paper is easy.
Quizzlet, coursehero and shazam are your best friends in this class. I recommend this class to everyone. Just remember to take your quiz every wednesday. Also, take a few notes during the concert so you have specific things to write about in the paper. Also do the paper asap after the concert because it will help a ton.
I took Music151, online class, it's pretty easy. Weekly exams w/ 50 questions, in 50 mins. I usually complete it before the time ends. Exams open every Wed until Thurs. DO not miss your exams, I missed 1 as a result, I got a B-. Its suck bc it's an easy A class. You're required to attend one concert directed by him, $10/ticket, & a short essay too.
i took the online class and it was so easy!!! if you want an easy A, TAKE THIS CLASS! just dont forget about the weekly tests bc thats like all thats graded. you can take retake them two more times if ur unhappy with the score.
I had this class as on online class. There was a 50 question exam each week on Blackboard, 20 Questions was matching artists to the listening and the other 30 were multiple choice from his recorded lectures/lecture notes. Take the highest of 3 grades for the exams. One concert report and one comprehensive final that is like the weekly exams.
I took MUSIC 151 with Yeager at SDSU. Class is super easy and fulfills a humanities credit. Consisted of about 12 online quizzes which had the answers online and one concert write-up that was graded easily as well.
THIS CLASS IS A 10/10. Super fun and you get to go to a Jazz concert which was really interesting. The class itself is really easy and the material is definitely unique. Yeager knows a ton about the course material and is very passionate about it. Dedicate like an hour a week to this class and you'll get an A. TAKE THIS CLASS!
I took music 151 online with Bill Yeager and it was honestly such a great choice! It fulfills a humanities credit, and overall it's super easy with very little expected from you. It's 100% online including the final, and isn't time consuming whatsoever. The only thing required is attending a jazz concert, but it was honestly fun! 10/10 recommend!
It is the easiest class I have ever taken. Even if you do not look up the answers on Quizlet and Shazam you will get an A.
Prof Yeager makes it easy! 14 exams and a final and all of them are super simple. There is 1 concert you have to attend and write about but it's graded very easily! Shazam, quizlet or course hero, really change the game. He also gives multiple attempts and opens the exam for 2 days--super generous. The hardest part is remembering to take the exams!
TAKE THIS CLASS!! Yeager is passionate about music and the tests are clear and pretty easy. You have 14 tests, a final, and one paper overall. It's super doable and you discover some cool music. If your looking for an easy GE, take this class
I took Yeager for an online class of music this fall semester and it has been one of my favorite classes at sdsu. there is a lot of reading but not a lot of studying. there are weekly quizzes but he types notes and the whole quiz is the notes. not a hard class at all, and if you love music this is definitely a class for you from a bio major
This class was super easy! All what you need is google and shazam in order to pass. Great option for a GE
I really liked this class and watching the videos he posted for the test that week. Shazam and quizlet will be your best friend in this class so use it to your advantage.
Took Pop Music. We barely covered music that is actually considered "pop" - we only spent, like, 10 minutes on that. Most of the class was actually about jazz, and when it wasn't, it was other old music or rock. Not really what I signed up for. The jazz concert we had to pay to attend was nice, though. Final was hard.
This class was fairly easy. You just need google and shazam in order to pass. I never looked at his lectures and still got A's on all of the exams. You do have to go to one jazz concert and you need to write a paper on it, which is fairly easy as well.
Easy A with minimal work! Def take this course for your GE requirement
This class is way too hard now. He changed it Spring 2019 so the answers to the quizzes are no longer on quizlet. I have to take 10 pages of notes at least in order to do well on the very hard tests. The midterm and final must be taken at the testing center now so he had to add 10 points to everyones 25 point midterm because everyone did so badly.
If you have the option to take this class then you definitely should. This is an online class that consists of weekly tests that you can find all the answers to on quizlet and shazam. This was the 1st year that the midterm and final were in person which sucks because you can't use quizlet so you will need to study. Overall though pretty easy class.
Don't be fooled by the midterm and final. Even though its an online class, they make you take the midterm and final at the testing center, so studying is required for those tests (which are a big part of the grade). However, theres SO many extra credit concerts you can attend in order to boost your grade.
This class was easy in previous semesters. However, in Spring 2019 it changed to finals being proctured, not online. The midterm and final are weighed heavily in your final grade and you need to study hard for it. There are so many songs to know and a bunch of random facts to memorize. It was overall annoying.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS I attended extra credit concerts, got A's and B+'s on the weekly exams, and got 100% on both papers. HOWEVER I got a 14/25 on the final BECAUSE IT IS SO HARD and went from a 96 to an 82. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS you WILL NOT DO WELL BECAUSE OF THE MIDTERM AND FINAL. It is no longer easy and he is rude and enjoys music beinghard
The quiz answers are on quizlet, SAVE THE QUIZLET YOU USE SO YOU CAN STUDY FOR THE MIDTERM&FINAL or MAKE YOUR OWN QUIZLET!! Yes the midterm and final are proctored now so you cannot cheat. As long as you receive A's on all the quizzes and both papers you can manage at least a C, study so you can get 50%+ on exams. He allows you to redo quizzes 3x.
I took this class expecting an insanely easy outcome, however I did have to work hard to get the grade I did. It's the first time he's had a midterm in the testing center, you CANNOT do well if you don't study beforehand (same goes for final). Professor Yeager genuinely loves what he does and it shows in the concert.
This class was okay. The class is made up of weekly modules w/quizzes, a jazz concert, midterm, and final. The class mainly focuses on rock, country, and jazz and less on music that is considered pop. His midterm and final exam have to be taken in the testing center and theyre pretty hard, theres too many artists/facts to memorize for the exams
Took this class the first semester where the midterm and exam were online, which was a little frustrating. The chapter tests are super easy and you get three attempts. Two easy papers. The questions and answers for all the exams and finals are online. You just have to put in a little work to learn the songs. Also there are free concerts for EC.
All the module test are on Quizlet which is super easy to find. The midterm and final got changed to be taken at a testing center so make sure you study beforehand. There's 2 paper you need to write which is a Youtube review paper and a jazz concert review which are both super easy. He gives a lot of extra credit concerts for you to attend to.
Easy A class if you do the work. All you have to do is take notes on simply textbook pages and the lectures but the material is easily understood and interesting. There are quizzes with music identification and a midterm and final that follow the same format along with one final paper. Definitely take this class fully online if you get the chance.
This class is an easy A if you keep up with the work. There's weekly 50 questions exams with 25 questions that are easy to find on Quizlet, & 25 questions that are 10 second samples of random songs from lecture. There's a required jazz concert you have to attend/ write an analytical essay about. There's also a final essay. Easy class if you keep up
Take this class! He is great and it is an awesome course for your GE requirement. Do your work, and you will be just fine! Definitely recommend!!! :)
Very easy class. The only thing we had to do besides the weekly homework was to go to a concert recital that he conducted which was actually very fun. I loved learning about the different music of different decades, just make sure you have Shazam and Google available for the tests.
Easiest online class ever. All the info/answers are online. The only in person requirement is attending a jazz concert and writing a review. The class is actually really interesting and super fun. Highly recommend for an easy A.
Music 151 is an easy A to get your credits. There are only tests every Wednesday that are easy to cheat. There is 1 paper that is easy you just write about your favorite song. The concert review you just go to a concert at state (required) and then write about it.
You can tell he cares about music and that's what makes him so great. The class wasn't too difficult. Weekly tests were a great opportunity to learn some new music. I highly recommend if you need a GE art credit!
Music 151 online is a super-easy way to complete your GE requirement. Professor Yeager's lectures are great and he selects an awesome collection of music for students to listen to. All the weekly tests are online. The paper due at the end of the semester is very easy as well. I really enjoyed this class and encourage everyone to take it.
One of the easiest GE classes Ive ever taken! Highly recommend.
Taken online (covid)Easiest GE I have taken and professor Yeager is caring and passionate about music. Weekly tests that are worth 2 points and 2 papers at the end of the semester that are each worth 11 points or 25% each. He doesn't take late work but I put minimal effort into the class, quizzes took me 10 min per week. Easy GE I highly recommend!
Prof Yeager is very passionate about music and you can tell that through his lectures. While this class was an easy GE, Yeager made it very enjoyable to learn from him. There are weekly quizzes, a midterm, a final (not cumulative), and 2 papers. When there was a problem, Yeager was quick to fix it. I highly recommend his class!
Music151 was a very cool class, and I appreciated the opportunity to learn about the history of American music. The tests, midterm, final, and paper were easy enough, but you have to memorize the sound of 20 songs for each module (there were 14 modules). That means that for the midterm and final you had to be able to recognize 140 different songs.
BEST CLASS FOR ART GE!!! Super duper easy and actually interesting! The class took very little effort, and Yeagers weekly lectures were usually under 20 minutes! Very easy to find resources to study from online that are exactly like the test. There were no stupid busy work assignments, instead just a weekly test which was short, and 1 paper due.
Professor Yeager is one of the best music professor I've had. Extremely knowledgeable and passionate about music knows so much and you can actually take a lot away from him from his lectures alone. Great music selection choices. Test weekly and then midterm and final. All doable and based from lectures and PDF materials. Not hard at all. Take him!
Professor Yeager is very kind, accommodating, and responds quickly to emails. The class itself consists of a midterm, final (non-cumulative), one paper, and mainly weekly quizzes that contain questions from the reading, lecture, and around 20 song samples from various artist. Overall it is an easy A, and the material itself is pretty interesting.
You can tell he loves music, if you need to complete your GE definitely take him if your schedule allows it.
A very easy GE (only if taken online). Prof. Yeager is definitely passionate and I appreciate his love for music. I liked the song choices as well! The course is test heavy, so beware. He also requires you to attend a jazz ensemble which was interesting and brought life to the course!
Prof Yeager is extremely passionate about music and he seems very nice. The only time you meet him is at a mandatory concert. All you need to do for the class are tests based on long readings and memorizing music pieces. Easy class.
easiest A for a filler class. quizzes every thursday, ALL on quizlet. 50 Qs, half multiple choice & half finding a song's artist based on an audio clip (shazam is ur bestie). midterm & final are just previous quizzes combined, and 2 papers: 1 live concert review (that I didn't do tbh bc I did CR/NC) & 1 youtube vid describing few music/song terms.
Easy A for sure. Never watched a lecture and every quiz was relatively easy.
I only took this class for a general ed. credit. Very easy class but wasn't as interesting as I thought it would be. Weekly exams, 1 midterm, 2 papers, and 1 final. The papers were fairly easy, one is about a concert you HAVE to attend and one is about a song you feel passionate about. Exams are all on Quizlet (incl. midterm and final).
good filler GE class. weekly quizzes (Thursday), 2 papers (concert/song), a midterm, and a final.
Very easy GE class. Take the online version. You have to attend a mandatory jazz concert, but it's pretty good. Grade is based on two review papers, weekly quizzes and final exam.
Super nice prof and easy class, I was just upset that I got an A- in the class, but honestly was so easy. All the tests are online and there was one every other week, and maybe 3 homework assignments.
Easiest class I have ever taken. The class consists of an exam every week (all found on quizlet), a YouTube paper about a song, and a concert you have to attend but it's entertaining. Easy A and you don't have any homework.
1 test through canvas every week that has 50 questions, 2-3 super short papers through out the course by far easiest class. You do have to buy a ticket to his own concert and write a paper about it but cool experience. Super easy A for GE, take it.
easy GE. each module goes over different genre and has one quiz. each quiz has questions from the lecture and song identification. use quizlet for multiple choice questions and shazam for music identification (most will pop up). 2 essays, one for a required concert (easy) and one on a song that you like. easy A
Class is very easy. Weekly tests that are multiple choice and song recognition. You have to attend a cool jazz concert and write a 400 word paper about it. Two other 400 word papers that are super easy. Def recommend, very low stress.
Online quizzes once a week, online midterm, online final, three papers, and one in person attended concert. The class is very easy, you just need to stay on top on when assignments are due (typically 11 pm instead of midnight), and don't forget to submit your essays.
Not Recommend
Easy elective class. All online and no textbook. Three papers about concerts that you can write easily + you get to see a live concert. Weekly tests aren't too horrible either. He offered extra credit this semester but I'm not sure if he did in previous terms. Overall an easy and low-stress class. Highly recommend!
I took this course for an easy humanities credit and as someone with little music knowledge, but I can truly appreciate Professor Yeager. He is clearly very passionate and knowledgeable about the subject and makes it very, very easy to pass the class. I would recommend taking this for a lower level humanities credit for sure.
I took this course online for a GE. Very easy, tests once a week and you can find everything online and with shazam. 3 essays, you have to attend a live concert for one of the essays and then the other two are online youtube concerts. All work is very easy to complete and you will get an A if you complete all the work on time.
Horrible tone through email, not understanding at all, required concerts were overly long and boring. Required us to pay for the concerts.
This person below me must been hard for himself. Anyways, this is an easy A class for a GE. There are weekly quizzes you have to do (just use quizlet and shazam app to get answers), there is 1 required live jazz concert you have to go to, and 3 essays to write about the concert. But this professor is really cool and conducts the entire Jazz band.
super easy class and fun ge to learn about. there is a concert you have to attend near the end of the semester, but it's pretty chill if you like jazz/live music. weekly quizzes that you can just look at the modules for when you need help, and a couple papers throughout the semester. super chill class tho
Not a bad class. There was a quiz with 50 questions with 40 mins every week. Easy to find answers on quizlet, and you can use shazam for the last 20 questions since it shows snippets of songs. 3 papers overall with 350-500 words required. You have to attend one concert in person for an essay though. I recommend!
Easy GE just use quizlets and shazam like the people below me stated. For my fellow procrastinators, exams are due at 11:00PM not 11:59PM, either remind yourself or just take the exams the night before lol. Easy A, just enroll into the course.
Great class. Take this for your fine arts GE.
