Good Instructor.
single most ridiculous and hard class I ever took. couldnt understand lecture, she made no sense. I dont recommend her at all, and usually I like all my teachers.
She is very unorganized and is constantly making errors. Gets very irritated if asked a question or more than one. Goes extremely fast and its hard to know what you were suppose to learn.
She thinks you, like her have a PHD in Finance. She knows Math. AND LITTLE ELSE. She does not use any applicaitons. If you dont have her same exact brain, dont bother.
I have had Mrs. Brotman for two classes. I have found her very fair, she even gives a review sheet before the test in finance with exactly the same type of questions you will see on the test. If you do no homework and study only right before the test, I have no doubt you will do poorly on the test.
When we were reviewing for the test, she forgot to give us all the review sheets, and then told us not to ask questions because it takes too long!! Isn't that the whole point of the review? I dropped her class.
Single worst professor I have ever had. Hates for you to ask questions and belittles you if you do. Take three days to review for an exam that you have only 90 minutes to complete. Must memorize tons of formulas. At least 75% of the class dropped out, I should have to. Passing rate must be lowest on campus. Only professor I've ever disliked.
Go to class, get the review, take the test and recreate the work. This is an easy A/B and you don't need a book. Some of the information can be confusing, and she's not the most patient professor, but overall it was fairly interesting.
Easy A/B!! Gives you reviews sheets for each exam and the exam questions are practically the same questions!! Also drops your lowest test grade!! Take her if you want an A or a B!!
Good Professor. Material isn't hard, but can be confusing. Prof. Brotman goes fast but will work with you individually if you do not get material in class. Easy A/B
I took this class for fun and it was a huge mistake! This teacher is awful, one of the worst I've had at Kennesaw! She writes on an over head and most of the time you can't read anything she writes. She teaches extremely fast and gets mad when you ask questions. Only 3 tests including the final, material very hard with no help at all from her!
This is the most depressing class I think I have ever taken. I took it because I thought it would be interesting and an easy grade but the professor is a NIGHTMARE. She basically just flips through the book and reads definitions and tells stories that go off topic and do not relate to the tests! I am currently failing this class =(. She SUCKS!
Worse pro ever. I have been stressed about the finals for the fact that she sucks and she doesn't teach worth the damn. Now that finals are over with she still hasn't posted my grade on the KSU website. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!! SHE IS HORRIBLE! I took notes of all the stupid things she said when she should have been teaching us.
She gives a review sheet in class which she works out for u but she is very confusing. She goes off topic and confuses everyone then makes u feel like an idiot when u ask a question or need her to slow down. The final is not too bad but there are a TOTAL of 3 grades in this class so if u mess up one you MUST pass the others.I would not take her again
She is probably one of the worst professors at KSU, but her class is super easy. All you have to do is memorize the review sheets that you spend all class going over. She only changes the numbers. If you can remember what it was supposed to be on the review, you can check your answers on the test. She AVGs highest 2 tests.
very nice professor, yet not good at teaching. Never use ppt or books. Pay attention in class since she likes to change subjects back and forward all the time. Make good notes on review sheet, that's all you need to know. Exams Q are exactly the same as review sheet. I got an avg of 97 for the exams. Overall, i think it's an very easy calss
Words can not describe how bad of a teacher she is. She mumbles and her writing is sometimes unreadable. However, her class is really easy if you just take the notes for the handouts she gives out. Easy A, and would recommend her.
She does problems so fast you can barely copy them, and gives little to no explanation on what she is doing. And I'm talking about Ex. 1 of a problem you've never seen anything like. She never asks "are you all done with this page" and seems to have no idea anyone else is even in the room. She's just a terrible teacher. Get rid of these awful ones KSU
Took her a couple of semesters ago. Absolutely horrible teacher. Mumbles, very incomprehensible, and writes out problems at a lightning pace. A bit on the nutty side as. However, the tests are almost identical to the handouts. Copy her examples, study these, and this class is a very easy A. Highly recommended, just don't expect to learn anything.
She gives out study guide ever class. Make sure you study it because the same question will appear on the exam. All she does is change the numbers. Easy A+
Easy class. Go to class and you will get at least a B. Very confusing lady, sometimes confuses herself. Kind of comical actually. Concepts are not very hard, tests are multiple choice and numerical problem. Multiple choice will be the hardest part. Get book for an A, No book for B.
Not a very helpful teacher. Book is not needed. She gives study guides that are the actual test questions, but you have to study those problems to a t, because she teaches very fast and will not slow down even if asked. She is very unorganized and just an "out there" teacher. She is very confusing. Make sure you know where #s are coming from.
Very knowledgable of the subject. Pay very very very close attention, and you can get an A. But, she is teaches by doing the examples. This is a problem because she has extremely terrible handwriting. And she gets angry when you ask her what she just wrote down. Not very good at explaining, but you can teach yourself it.
Worst Professor I have ever had. All she does is go over the problems on her Exam Review sheets. Doesn''t explain why you are doing it just wants you to do it. Don''t bother going to her office with questions she will just complain that you are not doing it the way she does it.
Post for a B, some work required for an A. Confusing lady will not learn too much, but to acheive a good grade is very easy. Math done in class will appear the exact same on the test, MC consist of only a b and c for each question. Easiest class in the Finance degree so far.
I took Professor Brotman for RE4500. Easy A if you pay attention to her notes. She comes into class and starts working on the problems or similar problems from the worksheet. If she is too fast for you the follow her notes, take a picture of her notes. The exam is exactly the same as the worksheet except for the numbers. You don't need the book!
The class consisted of just 6 quizzes. The first fIve were required and the sixth optional to replace lowest quiz grade. Just keep up with the deadline and practice her work examples. It should be an easy A.
Don't expect to learn much in her class. She just gives handouts and works them out in class. As long as you practice the handouts and her test reviews, you should get an A. The class is easy, but I feel like I didn't learn much since she does not explain why she does things. There are 6 tests and an optional final.
6 tests usually with 2 or 3 problems on them and there is an optional final to replace your lowest grade. Test reviews are exactly the same as the test just with the numbers changed. If you do your work just as she does, you will get an A. Very easy course. She was also quite helpful whenever I had questions, although sometimes she was unclear.
Only had 7 quizzes, and one of them dropped. Very easy class. Always there when I needed help. Would take again.
Please DO NOT take her!!! You will literally sit in class feeling confused and rushed. She rushes through notes that have the wrong answers and makes you feel dumb for not knowing the answers. Tests are exactly like the notes but you don't really learn anything.
Worst professor ever!! Seriously don't take her if your trying to graduate. I took her for real estate finance didn't learn anything. Please don't take her, this class is a hit or miss Do yourself a favor
Brotman doesn't explain anything she does. She just furiously writes her notes (which to you will be nearly nonsensical) on an overhead projector while you try your hardest to keep up. DON'T ask a question unless you want to upset her. She doesn't like being interrupted... You can get an A like I did, but don't expect to have fun or learn anything.
She is NOT an easy A, I don't care what anyone else says. Grade is made up of 6 tests plus final, THAT'S IT. No extra credit at all. If you make one little mistake, she takes off big points. Yes, she does give you study guides that are just like the exam, but you have to memorize them inside and out. I did pass, but barely. Cannot recommend.
Yes she is unorganized but just ask her where she got the number from and shell say. You wont learn anything in her class and but honestly just do what she does and you will pass the class with an A. shes an Easy A and a GPA booster. She had over 75 percent of her class make an A on their quizzes. Obviously those aren't the people rating her.
If you literally just show up for class and take good notes you will get an A. She gives a test review for every test and its the exact test with different numbers. She's all over the place sometimes but if you pay attention you can follow.
Dr. Brotman taught me a lot. In the beginning of the semester i thought i wouldn't do well, but she does a review pretty much every class and goes into detail. Im not great at math but she is happy to explain everything (in or out of class) Theres 6 tests with an optional final & gives a little something extra at the end. I would take her again!
Trying to be unbiased as possible here. If you show up everday she will go over the material on the "quizes" which are exams. Problem she has is there is no correlation between her abbreviations and the book. Very unorganized structure. No help at all in her office. Does not provide any material of importance online or direction. MUST ATTEND CLASS.
Brotman was not the best professor. I had to teach myself the entire semester. She was incredibly unorganized, had trouble answering questions however I believe the course was easy. Her tests were exactly like her reviews so if you go to class and learn how to do that, then you should be fine for the tests.
I will never take this professor again. 6 tests (one every 2 weeks), a cumulative final on top of that, and drops the lowest test grade. The fact that she adds 10 points to each test grade shows how hard the class is. She will not help you if you have a hard time as she told my class to go to a bank for help on homework.
Professor Brotman was very quiet and disorganized during lectures. She would give "practice tests" but there were like 10 questions and her exams were about 30. I had to withdraw because she never gave any help and expected us to have prior Finance knowledge... even though this is the first finance class KSU students take. Don't take this prof
You will review quiz (exam) questions all class period. It's up to you to learn concepts. Concepts are not covered. She feels that the class is already a review and is reluctant to answer simple questions. Study the quizzes until you know how to do the math in your sleep and you will get an A if you take a mechanical approach.
Tests are exactly like the practice. Everything is done by hand, no financial calculators allowed which is ridiculous because you spend 99% of your time punching in numbers. No actual knowledge of "analysis" was gained. Constantly makes math errors during class. Grading is NOT consistent on tests. CHECK HER WORK.
She teaches very specific ways to solve her practice problems. It is a waste of time and money. She doesnt allow the use of a financial calc. even though you need to use one in later courses. you would be better off just reading the textbook and learning how to use a financial calculator.
Although I received a 100 in the course I was the one who set the curve. I am very good at math and came up with my process which was a combination of the right way and the Brottman way. She does not explain why anything is done and I am not exaggerating when I say I missed less questions on the tests and the practice problems than she did.
Her class is a mess. If you value your sanity I would stay away. Those that are highly skilled in math/finance can probably tough it out, but teaching myself the concepts proved to be harder than I thought. She goes 100mph and does problems without teaching the concepts beforehand. If you do take her, make sure you know everything on the practice
You literally can not learn this class by self study. Imperative you go to class because it is impossible to learn the material even through the internet. Does NOT use a textbook and has very specific ways of solving her problems. Also can't use a financial nor a ti calculator on the test which takes up a lot of unnecessary time when doing quizzes.
She had horrible handwriting and in a Finance class it is not acceptable. Also mumbles a lot so sit close to the front if you want to learn anything. She will take points away on your handwritten only exam for using any method to solve problems that she didn't teach. Watch videos and powerpoint slides for a fighting chance.
I took this class despite the bad reviews bc I needed it but had to drop before midterms bc I couldnt keep up with her. No PP, no organization. She uses paper& pen for her notes w/ abbreviations that you cant follow. 1 study guide w/ 9 Qs for the first 2 tests. Made no sense. Im normally able to adapt to bad teachers& couldnt. DONT TAKE
Take her I know what I am talking about!
One of the best professors I have taken at KSU. You are only graded on 7 quizzes the whole semester. They are not very long and some are shorter than others. All multiple choice and she drops one of the 7. Very straightforward and easy if you study.
She gives 4 tests. She does not care about your circumstances whatsoever and her tests take HOURS to complete. I don't think I ever finished in under 5 hours literally. She will take off for decimal mistakes. Does not care if you learn. This class is a waste of time and is totally a hit or miss. By no means is it an Easy A.
You won't learn much from this class, but it was very easy. Just go to the review session (class prior to test) and you are golden. Graded on 6 tests, but you take 7. Don't need the textbook even though she recommends it.
RE: The material is a lot to learn and memorize a lot of math. her lectures are very hard to follow in class so i would recommend to to every class and make sure to sit in the front so you can hear her mumbles and see her scribbles. she tells you exactly whats on the exam so as long as you go to review and practice the problems you should do well.
This class is not too difficult as long as you attend class and the review before the exam. She is a caring professor and wants you to do well so just reach out if you need help. I believe most of her low ratings are from students that don't attend class because she tells you whats on the exam and does review so you can be prepared.
There was 7 tests and each had five or less multiple choice questions and three math questions. The math problems were long, but she gives plenty of time to take the tests. In class she explains the EXACT questions that are on the test (just with different numbers) and posts solutions on D2L. I thought she was a great teacher!!
She's a nice lady. Cares about you, but she mumbles ALOT. You have to sit up front to understand what she says and to make it worse she does wear a mask, so you cant even read her lips. She scribbles, doesn't explain where she gets numbers from. It's just a mess. Don't take her if you care about your mental health.
She is the worse professor I ever had. The many things that earned this possible zero-rating are: having 6 exams every two weeks, mumbling during the lecture, skipping vital material in chapters, and being demotivating. This class felt like a genuine thorn in my side and made me doubt if I should pursue a business degree.
Do not take!
Professor is confusing and she does not provide what concepts are on the test
Mumbles through lectures, does not explain anything whatsoever, and tests every two weeks. She is by far the worst teacher I have ever had and if you do not need to take her class I suggest not to. Get ready to teach yourself for the whole semester,
Its impressive how bad she is at going into detail on materials and conveying general information. Incredibly lacking in resources for her students and is as unorganized as it gets. She dosent want to be in class and it is obvious and has little to no regard for students in any regard.
She scribbles, doesn't explain where she gets numbers from. It's just a mess. Don't take her if you care about your mental health.
She scribbles, doesn't explain where she gets numbers from. It's just a mess. Do not take her if you care about your mental health.
The professor is not accessible outside class or answers questions on why! The concepts are not gone over in class.
After the first exam, Easily the worst teacher I have ever had. She mumbles through lectures, does not explain anything whatsoever. She also does not go over concepts for the test and theirs multiple students correcting her math. As far as the class, I could have done better than I did had I done more outside of class.
Worst teacher I've ever had. She simply does not go over the concepts and her hand writing is like chicken scratch. Yes, Real Estate class should be interesting , but she does not even lecture AT ALL. No power points, nothing. It is a joke and none of it is helpful. You have to literally teach yourself everything or you won't pass the exam.
I'm about to graduate, I took Dr.Brotman in 2019. My parting words from this institution are that Dr. Brotman is an absolute disgrace to this university.
Least favorite teacher/class I've had at KSU.
Worse Finance professor in the finance department! She does not go over the concepts that well and her handwriting is just the worse. The professor seems like she is always in a rush. Does not explain anything whatsoever, and tests every two weeks. Get ready to teach yourself for the whole semester, this lady is a certified bozo!
I graduated years ago, but this professor is just the worse. Her teaching is dry. She has a 0% response rate when I emailed her throughout the semester. Does not check her email. Loves to be messy when teaching the math and does not go over concept. HARDEST class that I have taken. Just avoid this class in the future!
Dr.Brotman is a great person but it is hard to learn in her class. She'll jump back and forth with the material so it can be hard to pay attention. Most of my learning was done outside of her class in a study group.
You have to learn everything by yourself. It's easy but time-consuming to get an A.
Get ready, this class is terrible with Dr.Brotman! She does not teach and makes it confusing than it should be.
Worse professor in the department
She is an easy grader but BEWARE if you take her for Short Term Finance, you will be very frustrated. She does not email back in a timely manner. She does not teach the material, so I hope you know how to do everything going in. She is the worst teacher I have ever had. You can easily get an A but be prepared to be frustrated the whole semester.
I hate this professors teaching, grading, and everything about this course.
Should not be teaching this class at all!
Did not round my 89.50 to any A!
Professor knows her stuff but she doesn't care for his students. This is a very exam-heavy class. Have to do very well in all the tests to get an ok grade. Possibly the worse professor at KSU, how do you memorize math?
Brotman really isn't that bad. I would say don't take this class if you don't plan to show up and work for your grade. The study guides are a replica of the test but if you do not go to class, you will not know how to do it her way step by step. She also does not round grades, ended the class with an 89.8.
I felt like I loss some finance knowleged when taking this professor.
Disgrace to Kennesaw State University!
She had horrible handwriting and in the class it is not acceptable. Also mumbles a lot so sit close to the front if you want to learn anything. She will take points away on your handwritten only exam for using any method to solve problems that she didn't teach.
Anyone considering enrolling in a course with Dr. Brotman should think twice before doing so. Extremely challenging to follow her lectures and comprehend what she is explaining. Her tests are simple, but she deducts points for absurd mistakes.
Worse experience and probably the worse professor at the Kennesaw State University. Did not round my 89.7 to any A!
Get ready to teach yourself for the whole semester, this lady is a certified bozo.
Definitely the worst class I have taken at Coles. Frustrating that the professors handwritings is like chicken scratch on the note pad. Sometime she rambles random and incredibly difficult to follow.
This is the worst class! I came out of this class knowing less about Finance than I did going in. Dr.Brotman went on too many tangents which made it very difficult to follow her mumbling lectures about each math problems. The lectures were random and seemed irrelevant to the math problems. Avoid this professor if you can even though its a Easy A!
Honestly Dr.Brotman is a nice professor but does not know the material she's teaching. She's usually clueless in class to what she's supposed to be teaching us. Also says she posts answers to said to the practice exams but the "answers" help. Review the study guide and your guarantee any A on the exam. Do not take her!
This is the worst professor I have ever had. She mumbles, draws figures the entire class. I have been completely lost in the material and she is absolutely no help. Dr.Brotman has no idea what she is saying during her lectures which are irrelevant to the math problems. Also did not round my 89.98, Avoid!
Terrible Professor. Material isn't hard, but can be confusing. Prof. Brotman goes fast but will work with you individually if you do not get material in class. Easy A/B
Dr.Brotman is by far one of the worst professors I've had at KSU. She mumbles through lectures that aren't irrelevant to the problem or to Financial Statement Analysis. If you want to learn something important in this class Good Luck!
Dr.Brotman is nice but still my least favorite teacher/class I've had at KSU.
This class is terrible. Exams are very specific and not all the answers are easy to find. T She does not know how to respond to emails. Im an A student struggling to keep a B.
DONT TAKE DR.BROTMAN. Your mental health will never be the same after her! she is actually the absolute worst professor at KSU. Do the study guide gurantee any A or B!
Avoid!
Extremely BORING class! Graded by only by tests and they do not involve a lot about what she says about. Attendance is not mandatory and she sends a study guide near each test date. Study that and you will be fine. However, would highly recommend not to take this teacher.
I took Professor Brotman for a easy A. The class had tons of memorization on how to solve a problem that she did not explain well or how she got the answer. She did not provide a single lecture. The content was not organized. This class was very frustrating. I would not recommend spending your money on her classes!!
This professor knows nothing of higher level Finance. Our class is spent by the students correcting her incorrect calculations. She tries but it is hard to learn at least in this class.
Do not take Billie Brotman unless you want to be completely lost in her lectures! Her chicken scratch makes it impossible to take good notes and she does not use ppt at all in class just a yellow notepad. You would be better off not going to class as attendance isn't mandatory and teach yourself all the material which you will have to do anyway.
TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE! Don't try to be a hero, like I did, and ignore the warnings. I thought 'eh can't be this bad'. No, she isn't, she is WORSE! Very very difficult to understand her speaking, even more impossible to understand her scribbling on a piece of paper, which is pretty much the entirety of her teaching. A page of chicken scratch!v
Professor stinks at teaching
She can not teach, but you will earn an A if you do more than the minimum. Just study the notes she gives you, and you will be fine.
Professor Brotman's class was a mixed bag. The material was disorganized, and lectures were unhelpful, but ChatGPT and Unstuck study helped me prepare for exams. Overall, a frustrating experience.
She can not teach!
I really wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt, but this class is exactly what the other reviews mentioned. Yes, she gives you a study guide thats almost like the actual test, until she adds a few things that can easily mess you up. Showing up to class is your best bet.
