he is really funny and helps create a comfortable learning enviorment. He makes jokes, and lets the student joke back. He takes this course seriously because he feels that it is really important to our future. He encourages you to suceed.
billy is the man! this class was one that i actually looked forward to cause we were allowed to laugh. he made it so that everybody in the class was comfortable with eachother. billy is an easy grader on speeches, too. overall good class.
This is probably the best teacher ever. He is very funny and easy going. I look forward to go to his class! He is always accessible through email and office hours. The class is very easy, and it really does help you to become a good public speaker.
EASY A!! great teacher for a required class. highly recommend
Billy was a pretty chill teacher. He was laid back and seemed to enjoy teaching. I would recommend him as a teacher for this class.
billy is a laid back teacher. really enjoyed this class because he made everyone feel comfortable with one another. All this class is, is busy work and speeches not to bad at all. Actually looked forward to coming to class!
He goes out of his way to make students feel comfortable and it works! With this kind of environment I was able to enhance my public speaking skills and gain more confidence for the future!
HE IS AWESOME!!! A Really nice guy and a great teacher. He's very helpful. We love him!
Good Teacher!
GR8 teacher. Go to lectures-he quizzes sometimes on them. Read whats assigned. Midterms/Finals-check out his study guides that he posts online..it really helps if u highlight what he said cuz its exactly what will be on it. X-tra credit oportuinities...TAKE THEM!! helps out.pretty easy class lovedit
republican! it was refreshing to see a conservatve teacher at this school. hes a nice guy but the course sucks...most pointless class ive ever experienced
Republican? I thought he was a wild DJ in his younger years. Great teacher!
Awesome teacher, real funny. Makes the class more interesting because he really cares about what he teaches. Easy grader when it comes to speeches, but hard on the outlines. Go to lectures, they help for the pop quizzes he gives.
Great teacher. You can tell he really enjoys what he does. Pretty easy grader, too. Just make sure you get a good group for your debates, or else you'll be screwed. Have to give two large debates and one mini-one. Not as bad as it sounds.
Fallon is awesome. the class is a lot of group work and quizzes but its doable. hes super nice, he came to dinner at my sorority house one time and was hella funny. Take him...rush Alpha Phi
Billy Fallon was an interesting man...he is funny sometimes, but kinda strange too..There are lots of quizzes, and some are pop quizzes. Lots of group work...pick your group carefully...Work on the debates, you can get a good grade.

This is an awesome class! Billy is FANTASTIC...its so interesting and he makes the class very enjoyable. He grades pretty easy and the papers and projects in class are not bad. You have to read for the midterm and Final, but its not that bad and he gives you a study guide so just follow that. Be prepared to participate in this class if you take it!
You Rock Billy!
He is a great teacher. He was one of my favorite teachers ever. He did stand up comedy back in the day so he brings a lot of humor to the class room. It is very interesting and helpful. He is charismatic in his lectures so you do not get bored. The discussions in class are important to participate in because some test questions come from that.
Great Professor - makes class discussion interesting. Only drawback was midterm grades were not scaled because one classmate had last semester's midterm from a roommate and scored 100. Hmmmm, was this cheating? Anyway, you will really like this professor. One big group project, two papers, and two tests. You will need the textbook.
Fallon is a great teacher and very helpful. Do the reading, participate, and most importantly learn to use silence as a method of communicating. Take the class!
Good and Helpful class. Fallon is a cool, laid-back professor but can be stubborn at times. However, if you take this class you will enjoy it and use it in 'real life'. Good teacher, good class, just DO WORK!!!
Cool guy, great course.
Fabulous teacher. Invested in the students. Take this class it will prepare you for the working world. Attend class and do your homework. Speak up in class as participation is worth a lot of points!
Professor Fallon is absolutely a great professor. Very interesting sense of humor, but hilarious none the less. Two oral exams, one midterm, and the final is replaced with a big group project. Calls the class the "communication gym" Amazingly, the book is a very interesting read and I recommend it to anyone trying to enter the workforce.
favorite class of the semester, i would take any class he teaches just to have him again. the absolute best. attendance wasn't mandatory. but if you went he would give you special pointers for the test which helped a lot
A great professor! He has such a good sense of humor and keeps the class interesting. I found it hard to motivate myself to go to class because he didn't take attendance but, I was always satisfied during class.
Although I like Fallon, I hated the projects.. you will stand in front of the class for a lot of the assignments. If that doesn't bother you then you will like this class.. I on the other hand hate giving presentations!
Billy is a great professor! Takes the time to help his students. Most of the time the class periods are more like a discussion than a lecture. There are several presentations, so be prepared to be participate. Billy's biggest pet peeve is grammar, punctuation and spelling. He grades solely on GPS, so if you're good there you'll get full credit!!
Fallon is funny and cool. We answered in-class questions digitally. It does seem, however, that he ripped his class off of the textbook. Lots of things are word-for-word, and he doesn't stray from it. But, you can easily do well without the textbook, although he will deliberately skip things in class that are in the book. Short observation papers.
I loved this class! It isn't difficult, but you have to put some effort in. The material is actually really interesting and the textbook is an easy read. I didn't read them during the class only before the exams and got an A. Utilize him, he is there to help.
Solid prof. Brings energy to every lecture and incorporates humor. Also a genuinely good guy/cares about his students. Uses real life examples to explain concepts. No attendance taken, and didn't buy the textbook. Grade is comprised of in-class tophat questions, 4 short observation papers, 2 midterms, and 1 final (cumulative). Highly recommended.
This dude is dope. He was all around a good teacher and very helpful. At the end of the semester, like a child, I had a few things missing and he was very understanding. He was funny and actually helped in other aspects than the material such as questions about Communication as a major and job choices. 10/10
Great professor. Would love to take this class every semester. I would recommend going to class because his lectures are awesome and interesting!
Theres nothing bad to say about Billy! He is funny, kind, and he makes his lectures so interesting! You write four 1 page papers on any type of communication encounter you've had with anybody or witnessed in the past (so easy and quick to write) and you do one annotated bibliography which only contains TWO paragraphs. 2 midterms & 1 final! All easy
Billy is the boy. He's so funny and makes class so interesting! Pretty easy to memorize all the material for the exams if you take good notes. If I could take him again, I would! Favorite prof I've ever had :) "Wear sunscreen!" ;)
BEST BEST COM CLASS EVER!!! Take this class if you can, even at 8am, you won't regret it! :) Its not your typical easy A, you will have to do some work and present. But the lessons and friendships you make in this class will make it all worth it! Thank you Billy!
Professor Fallon is not a bad teacher but is not an excellent one either. Lectures are pretty boring and nothing is on the powerpoint he just reads off of his notes like he is talking and he does it fast. Tests are situational and can be confusing but not impossible. Do not feel like I have really learned in the class and is a picky grader.
In my opinion, I think this course should be mandated for all majors to take! Billy applies the REAL WORLD approach for this course will help prepare anyone for the corporate world. Please note: you have to show up for group projects, read the text, and do career interview projects (that one is really fun and insightful).
Fallon was great! He was hard to get to know but was great at explaining ideas in his lectures. The class was all lectures and graded by a couple observation papers and three tests. My favorite part was that he had other comm professors come in to talk about their classes which helped me picking profs for next semester. Good guy.
Not an easy A, but definitely teaches concepts you'll use in the real world. Requires A LOT of presentations and speeches. You're constantly getting up in front of the class which eventually makes you feel comfortable and you get to know everyone in your class. Weekly quizzes from the textbook that he doesn't cover, 1 midterm 1 group final project.
He was one of the best teachers I've had. He was super funny and tried to make his lectures engaging. You can definitely teach yourself the material, but he takes attendance with clickers and it ends up being worth a lot of points so you do need to go to class.
This class was great- i ended with an A+. Billy is a great teacher and makes it really easy to understand the material- if you go to class and pay attention you will fully understand and get A's on the tests easily. Clicker questions are worth a lot but you can miss around 6 classes and still get full credit. One of my favorite classes and profs
HARD CLASS. I don't know how he is in his other classes but his comm 300 class is ridiucilously hard. I mean cmon man 5 exams and a cumulative final with NO curve. I understand the material is hard but at least cut us a break with a curve or at least a damn study guide. Im sure he's a great prof, but his 300 class should be avoided if possible.
Avoid if possible. It is the hardest class IVE ever taken. He is nice but his COMM 300 class is awful. It is test based and the test are incredibly hard no matter how much you study. Most people are failing despite being at every class and studying multiple hours everyday. He might be a good prof in other classes but this class will destroy you.
Comm 300 with Fallon is without a doubt the most difficult class Ive taken to date. Ive had math classes easier than this. Your whole grade is based on exams, and material is difficult. No curve, no study guide, talks fast, and most people are failing. This class is unfair, avoid him if possible, totally screwed up how he runs things in this clas
Billy does not seem to care about his students. The course is straightforward, five exams and five discussion posts, but there is very little instruction, if any. The class is an exercise in futility. Most of the class seems to be failing, and Billy fails to acknowledge there is a problem. I have nothing positive to say about THIS PROFESSOR. HMPH.
. As someone who dedicates 10+ hours a week studying for this class and has never missed a class, I feel that he makes it nearly impossible to pass. His class is based on very hard tests that he words poorly. The highest grades in this class are Cs. This class has caused me and immense amount of stress and recommend not taking if u can.
Billy truly seems like a nice guy, hence the 4 star rating; however, this class is insane. I am a good student and put in work to keep up my GPA, but he makes it impossible to get an A. I feel like a professional typist in his class because he talks 100 MPH and if you don't write everything, you're screwed. His exams are so specific and HARD.
Billy does not seem to understand that most of his class is failing, and does not seem to care. He lectures very fast. The material is abstract and tough to learn. And he gives us not enough time to study. The discussion boards are toughly graded too. If you want an A in this class it wont happen taking Billy. I regret ever taking this class.
Billy is a funny and caring professor. You will have a quiz every week, and all the questions are taken from the book. He makes the midterm and final easy if you show up to class, and take notes from the quiz review he covers after every test. He loves participation and creativity when it comes to any assignment given.
The class was lecture and test heavy. There were so many theories and broken down into detail, made a lot to study for and get prepared for exams. Office hours did not help much. You are better off to form a study group. Professor claims that next semester will be different as this was the first time he used this textbook, so give it a shot and see
Fallon has a great sense of humor even though this coms class is extremely difficult. However, he makes sure that you understand the theories and explains it in the simplest terms. On the other hand, the exams are not a cake walk. Study as much as you can and just give yourself a week to study everything.
Fallon is a straight forward professor as his lecture follow the textbook and the exams all have material that is covered. He does try to make the content relatable and engaging. There are short observation papers and 2 exams and a cumulative final. Clicker points too that are worth a lot. Would definitely recommend!
He's the best. I loved his class. Class is graded by clicker points, a few exams,2 one-page papers, an annotated bib, and a group project. If you go to lecture, it'll be pretty easy to do well.
he is funny and care about the class. would recommend taking his class.
Fallon is such a caring professor, but he is also really knowledgeable about the subject matter and an excellent teacher. He is always willing to work with you outside of class and he really wants his students to succeed. This class isn't super easy, but Fallon makes it doable.
Professor Fallon is one of my fav profs because his classes are straightforward. I actually like attending his lectures because he makes them interesting and uses real-life examples so its easier for us to understand. There are 3 question quizzes after every lecture, 5 theory papers (1-2pgs), 4 exams (40-50 questions), and a cumulative final.
Prof. Fallon truly cares about his students success. All assignments are for your own benefit, you create a LinkedIn acc. , a headshot, a quick & easy elevator pitch. You can that he wants us all to benefit from this class, also super fun lessons! Great energy! Ive taken him for two semesters in a row and Im not ready to let him go:( TAKE HIM !!!
Professor Fallon is probably one of my favorite top 5 professors that I have ever taken at SDSU. The lectures are really heavy so make sure you do not miss them. He uses real life examples to help connect to what he is teaching! Really GREAT PROFESSOR! He really made 8am classes so much easier to wake up to. Take him, you will not regret it!
genuinely so nice and funny, he does weekly quizzes and a couple group presentations but its all painless, his work is fairly easy, but the final is tough so really study for that
Not my favorite comm class but I enjoyed it for the most part. Canvas page was a bit difficult to navigate sometimes.
I had him for 201 and 300 and maybe attended 6 lectures combined for both classes and still passed with an A and a B+. He explains concepts super thoroughly and very easy to follow. Love this professor
Prof Fallon is a great lecturer & gave explained examples for each theory he explained (super helpful). The only negative I have would be his lack of grading. He takes WAY too long to grade assignments. He gets extremely behind on grading, so you don't know whether you are properly doing assignments or what your grade in the class truly is.
Great lectures with really helpful examples. Really understanding guy with light and clear course work. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you show up to class and pay attention to the quizzes, you'll be fine.
This was my favorite class this semester. His lectures make you want to show up to class (even if its an 8am). I learned a lot and was always interested. Also, the workload is really doable and his timelines give you large periods to plan when you are able to do an assignment. Go to class, there are easy 3 question quizzes after lectures.
Definitely a cool professor, you won't be sorry if you take him. A few assignments throughout the semester, a midterm and a cumulative final.
Class is very straight forward. There are a number of assignments but just like he says "nothing will require you to pull an all nighter". Quizzes every week on the chapter, but the book is very straight forward and interesting(coming from someone who never does the assigned reading). This class actually gave me skills to use in the workplace.
Billy is funny and really loves to engage with students during lectures. There are group projects and a small pop quiz after every lecture. He has a lengthy final, but it's easy as long as you study and pay attention to his lectures.
Professor Fallon really wants you to succeed and prepare for the future. Quizzes every Monday on chapters from the book, a few speeches, few video assign., discussion boards, & one big final assignment working in groups to film/present. It seems like a lot but trust me it was my easiest and favorite class, highly recommended.
-Great teacher and nice person -Very helpful and good at explaining -Quizzes every class but can take online if you miss class so don't technically have to do -Does slides of notes and explains with examples -Really great professor -take him for Comm in Prof settings too
Very genuine professor. Makes lectures interesting with relevant examples and witty humor. Quizzes after every class, group presentations every 3 weeks, and a cumulative final. Class only gets difficult if you slack off. I noticed that he knew a lot of his students names in a relatively large class, which shows that he cares.
I wanted to like him, but his grading is so particular and annoying. He took points off my speech for posture, gestures, and eye contact when I literally saw nothing wrong with any of those when I rewatched it. He says you can use notecards, but god forbid you glance at them. He will take points off if you don't have it 100% memorized.
Honestly puts his attempt at humor ahead of teaching his class. Picks on specific students and directs the entire class attention to them and making them embarrassed in front of the rest of the class. And this is not every once in a while this happened multiple times throughout a class period and he would waste so much time trying to make his jokes
Great prof! Took him my second year and attendance isn't taken but he gave quizzes to see who's in class. Open note and usually things he said in class so VERY EASY. He told me to study the quizzes for the final so I looked them over right before the final and got a 90 on it. TAKE HIM
Out of all Professors I've had on this campus, Mr. Fallon is my favorite one by far. He is by far the most caring and respecting instructors I've had. He's also extremely funny. As long as you're on top of your work and study for the speeches, you'll do well in his course. This is the second time I've had Fallon and I wish I could take him more.
Professor Fallon is great!! I encourage people to take his class. His lectures are very interesting and gives great feedback. The course work is manageable if you attend class and don't slack off.
I could write an entire book on how awful this professor is but if you want a professor who creates a toxic class environment, grades super harsh WITH NO RUBRIC, and cares about his jokes more than you, then take this class.
Professor Fallon gives really great lectures and seems like a genuine guy. That being said I didn't feel that the way a few of his reviews or projects were set up made sense, for example. The class itself doesn't have a huge workload, just make sure you pay attention in class and take notes. The final is very challenging though.
Fallon is awesome! I had his class at 8 am, and I was still excited to go to class every time. He makes his class really fun, and he is hilarious. He gives you a 3 question quiz after every lecture, there was no midterm, but there was a big final. I would definitely recommend reading the textbook as well. Show up to class, and you will pass!!
The final exam is the hardest thing in this class. Attendance isn't mandatory but he has quizzes after every class that are usually based on what he says. You don't need the textbook. Fallon is so funny and caring. He makes going to class worth it. Take his class, 100%.
Take this class if you can. Fallon is super caring and learns your name on the first day. The content is pretty beneficial too. Big group project you work on the entire year. A few presentations and smaller projects, but overall pretty straight to the point. The class is worth it just for Fallon honestly.
Take Fallon for Comm201. Attendance and textbook not required. 5 quiz questions after every class based on lecture (open note, on quizlet), 2 observation papers (1 page each), 10 discussions (100 words each), an annotated bibliography (two paragraphs, APA), and a final exam (in person, closed notes). Final Exam is 30% of grade so study the quizzes!
He's interesting and a funny guy. His class is not very hard as long as you do everything and follow instructions. Sometimes due dates are a little disorganized but it's fine. You don't need to go to class but it definitely helps.
Avoid Fallon for Comm 300. 3 quiz questions after each class based on lecture (open note, on Quizlet) and other online assignments. Final exam is in person, closed notes, 100 questions, and 40% of grade w/ no study guide. My class average on it was 68%. Picky grader, no enthusiasm, and picks on students. Informative class but hard final. I'd avoid.
This class was really fun, he always makes lectures entertaining. You will enjoy the lectures if you choose to attend. I would highly suggest going to class. There are not many assignments and they are fairly simple. The final is a major portion of the class but if you study for it then you will do well. The final is not as bad as it seems.
40% of your grade is based on the Final. Group Reviews and Theory Example essays were easy, but if you do not retain every single bit of information from the lecture, you'll have a hard time. Especially since there is no study guide for the final.
Take Fallon for Comm 307. 10 small chapter quizzes throughout the semester based on textbook (closed note) and many other canvas assignments spread throughout the semester, including a few presentations. Final project is a 20 min group presentation. Some of the class is common knowledge, but very informative class and it sets you up great for a job
Good professor, just really is picky and hard on grading... Not sure why. I would take his class again, he usually ends up only going for 50 min even though it's an 1:15 class. The information he goes over is digestible and makes it entertaining enough to sit through. Solid choice, not too bad, just has a goofy vibe socially.
He is a funny guy and I didn't mind the class in general. He does a 5-question quiz at the end of every class based on what he says in the lecture, so take notes or pay close attention. That was my main issue with the class- no slides or anything for if you miss class. 2 short papers, one group project, and an annotated bibliography.
This professor is LAZY. Whole semester you work on a 20 min project just so he doesnt have to teach. didnt lecture once and we had to teach ourselves the textbook and get quizzed on it. He loves embarrassing students & good luck if you dont memorize your speeches even though he says notecards. Definitely has favorites, grades harsh with NO RUBRIC.
Fallon is funny and seems like a good guy. However, he's very strict with grading, does not give any extra credit, and allows only a 24-hour late work policy. Be careful if you are a procrastinator like me. Having this class at 8 in the morning didn't help, either.
