GOD this guy sucks... he cant speak english for nothing... He doesnt really go in depth on problems which is bad for us students... Christ sakes if youre gonna take math do not take BIN LU or ull regret it
His English is very difficult to understand [written/spoken]. When you ask a question, he answers everything but your question. Don't bother buying the textbook, you use an online software that has the same stuff on it. Basically, you're going to be teaching yourself. Good luck with that.
He's not clear at all. His handwriting is ridiculous and he;s very hard to understand. He dances around questions and never answers them directly, even when its a yes or no question. Don't bother buying the book you wont use it. His tests are hard so get a group together and STUDY. Do the worksheets he gives or prepare to fail. Good luck...
Easiest class I've taken. He was hard to understand at times, but tried to joke around and make class fun. Study his worksheets - tests are based off of them. Helpful in his office. I really don't understand why he has such bad reviews - I didn't have a problem with him.
This class is really easy. Don't bother buying the textbook though. You buy the online code for the class and it lets you read the book. He's not really clear sometimes so you just have to read how to do some homework problems but other than that, this class is super easy.
He's a good professor. He wants all of his students to pass. Sometimes you can't understand what he says. There was no need to buy the book because the website we used to do homework had the pages we needed to read. It's a very easy class.
Extremely difficult to understand. However, his class is the easiest I've ever taken. Basically you just need to study the work sheets and do the online hw and you're set. His tests are ridiculously easy. They're essentially the same as the work sheets. Don't bother buying the book. Its not needed.
He's a great professor. He wants all of his students to pass somehow. Sometimes you can't understand what he says. There was no need to buy the book because the website we used to do homework had the pages we needed to read. It should be an okay class if you put effort towards the class. If you don't, expect a C- for your grade.
Easiest math class ever. He is confusing sometimes and annoying because he starts a sentence stops in the middle of it and starts all over again. A really nice guy though. He really makes an effort to make class fun and enjoyable, as well as getting all his students too pass. Material is easy, textbook not used and tests are pretty easy too.
easy material but bin lu is very hard to understand. he's funny and always willing to help I just ended up teaching the material to myself. go to class because his tests are basically the worksheets he gives out. homework is online. no quizes
Although he is hard to understand, you'll get use to it in no time. his class is easy and VERY helpful. its an easy class if you just show up!
The only problem I had with him is his accent, he's Chinese but his english is very good. He's very funny and really loves to teach. The class itself is super easy, no textbook, no quizzes. Worksheets are given in class and corrected in class. Those worksheets are the format for the 3 tests + final. Homework&textbook acces is online. awesome class.
He had an incredibly strong accent, I could barely understand him sometimes. However, his class was fun, he was always making us laugh, and it was easy! Online homework wasn't too bad, tests were simple if you went to class, and if you missed an assignment he'd reopen it for you. Final is optional too, can only help (not hurt) you.
the homework is online. the test/midterms are like the worksheet given in class. overall pretty easy and really boring.
Loved this class!!!! Prof Lu was such a nice Prof. I thought his accent was going to make this class difficult but it doesn't. Will always adjust the hw dates if you asked. Material is easy if you actually do the online hw. If you don't understand he will take the time to help you. Just a little warning. Final was much harder than the three tests!!
One of the most helpful and funny professors at CSUS. You would expect this class to be hard but Professor Lu makes the material so easy to understand. His examples are straight forward and if you go to class, do your homework, study (i.e be a good student) you are guaranteed an A. If you're going to slack off, expect a failing grade. Love him!
Based on the other reviews it seems that he dedicates most of hie energy towards lower level classes. His presence in the classroom was redundant, we would have been better off without him.
about 1/3 or his exams are true and false and each are worth 4 points! better not miss more than five true and false or that's already a C. He gives homework but grades them really really hard. I recommend any other teacher for linear algebra, if you can avoid him, DO IT.
very funny man. at least he tries to be. but i do enjoy his class. he is very helpful and really wants his students to succeed. homework are all online and tests are easy because his worksheets are used as study guides that follow the tests q's. good class
I think he is awesome! He is super quick to respond to your emails if you have any questions. He explains difficult hw problems in class if you ask him to. He makes alot of jokes and is easy going. He is super helpful. Take his class!Make sure you have your IAD score first though.
Overall, this class is easy. You have 3 midterms, 1 cummulitive final, and all the homework is online. He may be hard to understand at first but as long as you do the homework it'll be an easy A.
He is pretty funny with his remarks. Its hard to understand him sometimes because of his accent. All you need to do is come to class and pay attention to his lectures and you'll pass. He doesnt take attendance either.
Mellow teacher! He's helpful and easy. He's funny too ^_^
I don't know why people say that they cannot understand his accent, I can understand his lectures. Dr. Bin Lu is a great professor for this subject, all you have to do is: 1) come to class. 2) pay attention. 3) study the lecture notes. I received an easy A.
He's easy and funny. The class work is EXACTLY like the test and lets you use a cheat sheet.
This Professor doesn't care about you at all. He definitely has an accent so sit up front. Attendance is not mandatory. The Study Guides reflect the whole exam, just different numbers. He also lets you use a note-card so just write the whole study on that card and you'll get a 100% guaranteed. Online HW is easy. Overall Easy A class. #HonestRater
Professor Lu was awesome! I was worried I would not understand him because of the ratings I found on here. However, he was a great teacher and someone I bonded with immediately. He really does care for his students. His class was so easy. Test problems come from the class work he assigns. SO EASY. Take his class.
Hard to understand, tests are worksheets. Still a little challenging, you must study to get an A
Pretty easy class. Tests are basically the worksheets. Prof is really nice and helps a lot. Great class.
Love Prof Bin. He is willing to help his students and wants them to pass. I never liked math until taking his class. He tells funny math stories and relates it to what we're learning. I would take him again, and again, if I could!
Overall, this class was really easy. What is great is that his tests are never harder than the math problems he goes over in class. All you have to do is study the worksheets and you are golden! Try not to skip class because he goes over A LOT of material in one class day. The homework is online... try to do as many problems as you can!
He is a nice teacher and he goes over the material slowly, which can make his class boring sometime. Do all the worksheet on SacCT because those question are on the test. Home work due online almost every week.
He is pretty lenient with due dates. If you need more time, just let him know. Tests are not too bad, if you study.
He's a cool prof. He tries to be funny sometimes during class. There's homework due online every week but he reopens all the homework near the end of the semester. All his powerpoint lectures are posted online and it's very detailed so I didn't really use the textbook. There's study guides for every exam and he lets you use a notecard.
Super funny professor! I really enjoyed taking his class. He has a strong accent but it's pretty easy to understand him. His clarity isn't the best but, he basically gives you the test as a study guide so if you fail IT'S YOUR FAULT. He also let us use a note card during tests. DON'T BUY THE BOOK. Just study and go to math tutors if you need help.
Online hw is easy since you get unlimited attempts on getting a 100%. Google any questions from the hw they usually pop up. 3 midterms & a final. Final is cumulative so study the past exams and worksheets. Can use 1 notecard per exam but he doesn't check so you can use more. Has an accent & hardly speaks up but go in during office hours to get help
Great math teacher, breaks It down all the way and teaches in a way that everyone understands. I took this course at JC and failed it, got a c+ with this professor. He didn't require us to do matrices or limits which helped a lot! Homework isn't to bad but the online homework system is garbage and makes the assignments difficult to complete.
He's an okay teacher. Expect a lot of homework. 3 midterms and a final. I don't want to be that person but sometimes it's hard to understand him bc of his accent. Take notes and make sure you go over your notes and study them not like a day before exam and but a few days before so you can ask him questions if you have any.
3exams and a final, homework is assigned through webassign.I would purchase the book if you don't plan to show up to class regularly. His writing on the board is not so clear but if you have the book many of the examples he shows are from the book. He also has extra worksheets for practice problems these are similar to the exams than the hw online
The class is review, unless you have recently taken an algebra class show up to class. the text book is online and connected to the homework so you have to use it, but he does a good job explaining things in class. he has a thick accent.
Horrible teacher, doesn't teach us anything on the homework. He has these handouts you need to print but they are pointless and doesn't go with the work. the online course is dumb and a waste of money. the course has "videos" for quizzes to help you out, but the video doesn't go over the question being ask.
Just do the Homework and pay some attention and you'll pass. He's not very good at teaching the material, but if you're looking to just breeze through Calculus, he's your guy.
Make sure to attend class because while he does post powerpoints online he doesn't go over any practice problems and instead does them in class only so you should be there to take lots of notes. Make sure to always check online for due dates for homework because he doesn't mention them in class. A simple class if you take notes and pay attention.
He goes through lessons very fast, sometimes you run out of time to copy down notes. Homework has unlimited attempts so you basically can get 100% every time. You can turn it in early and get an extra 10% each time. Professor is very chill, makes joke and has a thick accent, makes class enjoyable because of how he laughs at his own jokes :)
His accent is understandable when he teaches, but if he talks about something other than math i dont understand. His class is review of highschool math and the Tests are basically based off the worksheets. Homework is online, and you get unlimited tries. Pay attention and try. Easy passing grade
I like Dr. Lu but he could improve. I don't have a big issue with profs that have accents. I do have an issue when those same profs have illegible writing. Doesn't help that he burns through practice equations either. I often felt lost in class but fret not. Utilize outside resources, try hard, and you can pass this class. He cares about students.
1. Worksheets are basically the exams, suggest printing them (notes and ws) out before class 2. Finishing the HW early gives you extra credits 3. Explains thoroughly 3. Allow a 3x5 note card in midterms and final 4. If you still need extra help his is super helpful during office hours, or go to Lassen Hall 2200 to get help from the tutors
Easy class and professor. The tests are based on the worksheets he gives. Homework is always extra credit if u do it one day early. He opens it up at the end of the semester for extra credit again to!! Just take good notes and it won't be hard at all. The math is like high school algebra 2 with business stuff LOL
His midterms and finals resemble the worksheets (study guide). Allows you to use a notecard for each midterm and the final. Offers extra credit on each homework assignment if you complete it a day before its due and opens them all again at the end of the term for extra credit! Easiest math professor. Would recommend coming to class do all homework.
He gives out worksheets to practice on and gives extra credit if you finish the homework early. He can be hard to understand and rushes through lectures. I was in a big class where not one showed up and he refused on answer questions because it might slow others down. He wanted you to come after class and talk to him, i had another class after.
Dr. Lu is an easy-going professor. The class is reminiscent of high school math, so I recommend taking this class if you're not a math fan or you need credits. He's understanding and approachable. Gives extra credit if needed. Worksheets are similar to the exams. Very caring! Just be ready to pay for the online program in order to do the homework.
If you show up to class, do the homework early, and study you should get an easy A. I failed this class last semester and Bin Lu made the subject easier to understand than my other professor. Homework and quizzes due at the end of every class. Gives extra credit for turning in homework a day early. He is a funny guy with tons of dad jokes
His lectures are really messy and unorganized. His tests are exactly like the worksheets so make sure to study those. ANd he has a thick accent so you cant really understand him.
Easy class for the most part. Grade based on 4 tests and some homework on the sections. Homework has some extra credit if it's done early. Book not necessary if you show up and understand the material. Homework is done online on Webassign and comes with an ebook as well. Professor has an accent, but still understandable when he is teaching.
Professor is somewhat hard to understand due to his accent. Homework is assigned online and if you finish 24 hours before its due then you will earn 10% extra credit. Online quizzes are assigned after every class but are pretty easy. Class consists of 3 midterms and a final. You can use a note card on each test.
I was skeptical about taking him because of the accent, but he has by far been the best teacher I've had for this course having had to retake it. The material is tough. He is a funny guy and makes class enjoyable. He explains things in ways you wouldn't have thought of, but it clicks. He is really invested in his students success.
Took this course during a 6-week long Summer session, which only has 3 exams instead of 4 like a regular semester. His exams are just like the class notes and worksheets (which are all available online), so do those problems even thou it is not mandatory. Also if you need help, go to PARC (Lassen Hall 2200) or to Math Lab (Brighton Hall 118).
I'm a member of the SacState Honors Program and had a 3.95 GPA... until this class. Dr. Lu is difficult to reach and will refer you to the math lab for further instruction. But my issue wasn't that I don't understand, I'm a slow test taker and couldn't finish the written portion and failed the midterms because of it. Don't take the large section.
If you have at least half a brain cell, you'll pass his Math24 class. Online homework and quizzes, in class exams. First half of the semester is basic algebra you should've learned in 7th grade. He doesn't take role so most days I don't even show up and just do the homework on my own, which he posts a week in advance. Bad lecturer. Easy A.
He is an ok professor. Math 24 is not a difficult math class, but the professor does move forward fast and assumes that everyone understands the material. He has quizzes almost everyday that are online, and hw due maybe once or twice a week online as well. The study guides help alot of the exams, but there a few questions that are not on the test.
Very funny & energetic. Teaching is very straight-forward & clear. NOTES ARE YOUR BEST FRIEND write everything (recommended). Grading is homework + quizzes and 4 exams (includes final). Final is cumulative. Non-mandatory, but come to class in order to pass. Took an SI class, but there are tutors available specifically for his class at the PARC.
Honestly he's not that great of a lecturer but his class is super easy to pass. Unlimited tries on HW + online quizzes. 3 exams, all exactly like the worksheets he provides and 1 cumulative final. Most of the class is basic algebra review. You don't have to show up to pass as long as you do the worksheets for practice before the exams.
This professor is a 10/10! Go to lectures and sign up for SI if offered. Bin provides worksheets as almost identical example problems for exams. Every online hw assignment is an opportunity to earn extra credit if completed 24 hours early. Sign up for chegg to help you study outside of class, but Bin is always available for students who need help.
This class was easy, only if you show up to class. Professor Lu is chill, but it is your responsibility to show up and put in the work. There are short quizzes after class, homework (10% EC), and 4 exams. Overall, this course was easy. Worksheets cover the materials on the exams. Show up and you will understand the materials better.
Take this class while it is still on Zoom. He goes over everything and offers 10% extra credit if you turn your homework in early. Quizzes every Monday and Wednesday. They are only 3 questions. Great professor
Professor Bin Lu is a real gem. I took him for MATH 24 and he is very helpful and understands his students. He has weekly quizzes that help in learning. I really learned in this class about Calculus and finance math.
One of the best professors I've had! Super nice and funny, goes through everything thoroughly and cares about your understanding of the material. Quizzes and HW are pretty simple and he offers 10% extra credit on HW 24 hours before it's due. Also, tests are just like the HW. Just show up and pay attention; Very good!
The best thing about this class is that if you finish your homework 24 hours early you get extra credit and since there is a lot of homework, there is a lot of chances for extracredit. As a prof, it is unfortunate because he really is kind but his lectures are really not that helpful when it comes to the homework even if the HW has unlimited tries.
Honestly, he may say to get the access homework online on Cengage but you don't even have to do it. All you need to do is to do good on the exams and you will literally pass this course. Also, this professor is caring but his lectures don't even help so you will need to learn by yourself. BUT honestly, the homework doesn't get graded by the way.
Professor Bin Lu is a truly nice guy and cares about his students and their success! The work is not too much and not too difficult. There is a lot of extra credit offered and his worksheets are very similar to the tests so study/do the worksheets and youre good! His handwriting is hard to read sometimes but overall it was an easy and good class!
If you don't attend classes, you most likely won't pass. the professor sometimes is hard to understand; but has a kind heart. He was supportive of his students, but some of the material was hard to grasp because the homework either needed to explain more clearly or the lectures needed clarification. Three exams and a final, quizzes, and hw online
Homework if done before the due date is extra credit. Allows 1 notecard for tests and 3 for the final. The class is hard and some of the stuff is hard to grasp. Dropped the support class-wasn't helpful to me. Only graded on tests and the few points for the homework. Doing the homework early helped me get a C. Ask for help!
I struggled in class purely because his handwriting and his accent is really hard to understand and to read. I cannot copy his notes and it made class basically self learn by yourself for the whole semester. Which was already hard to do since it's your first time seeing proofs. Don't take him his test outlines don't reflect whats on his exams.
the difficulty of the course was a 2/5 but the way the professor taught it made it much harder than it had to be. based lectures off of assuming you already knew what he was talking about. the lectures were fast and hard to understand. make sure to show up to class and take notes. he doesn't teach, just shows you what to do. 3 midterms and 1 final.
Easy class and professor. You can use index card and calculator for exams. His exams are problems from the worksheets, so study them and you are good.
Tells students to change majors if they don't get a concept. Stands close to & hovers over students. Celebrates when students drop class. Test outlines don't reflect what's on exams. Doesn't know the answers to & can't explain homework he assigns. Laughs during lecture, illegible writing, goes off topic. Doesn't mention where material comes from.
He goes over the material so fast that he does not even explain it to you properly and because he goes so fast he tends to let class out early. During the class, you will have 2 weekly quizzes and 2 weekly homework assignments. What makes his class harder is that he does not speak English fluently so it can become hard to understand him at times.
The teacher is okay and goes over everything quickly like if you know it off the top of your head. However, homework is online, and quizzes. So, it's easy to have a good grade in the class. The exams are in person but allowed to use one flashcard front and back. The only reason why I would take him again is that flashcards are helpful in exams
Had work sheets that were, perfect for studing for the tests.
His class is free. If you do the homework before its due, you get extra credit on it, which is a huge grade boost. His exams are weighted quite heavily but if you do the handouts, you're more than okay. For god sake, attend this class and DO NOT SKIP. only reason i am giving him a 4 is because he is hard to understand at times.
DO NOT SKIP CLASS ESPECIALLY A MATH CLASS! The class is free otherwise. Make sure you do your homework before the due date to get extra credit point (you'll NEED those). At times he can be hard to understand hence a 4. Make sure to PARTICIPATE and FOLLOW ALONG! The exams will be your study guides just with different numbers! DO YOUR STUDY GUIDES!
The Homework and quizzes are online; therefore it is easy to get a good grade. However, the exams can be very hard. It is difficult too because he does have a heavy accent and it is hard to understand him at time.
Professor Lu cares a lot about his students and their success! He mainly does textbook problems the entire class and will give definitions / formulas. He gives out extra credit for doing the homework early and also has study guides for the three exams, which you can use a flashcard for. I would like his class a lot more if it wasn't at 8AM though!
honestly all you have to do is really put in your own time and learn the material but if you ask him any question he is pretty helpful and lenient. Definitely reach out to him.
Bin Lu is the greatest professor of all time. He's the greatest professor to ever walk this planet. If he stepped onto another planet, he'd instantly become the greatest professor on that planet. 10/10.
Professor Lu is very caring about his student's success. His exams are difficult, but he allows notecards. Tests and Quizzes are online through Cengage. If you do the homework 24 hours before it's due, you'll get extra credit. DO YOUR STUDY GUIDES! His class is really easy only if it wasn't at 8am.
