does not know how to speak english

Lots of HW, easy tests. Warning: Straight from China!
She's really hard to understand!!! Also doesn't like to answer quesions, if at all possible don't take her!
She is hard to understand, but is very concerned with helping you to understand. She encourages extra help. If you do the homework the test are easy, but it is time consuming. It helps to pay close attention in her class. I thought she was good.
her test are not made to test your competency in the area. Rather it is meant to confuse you and lower both your grade and self-esteem
She can hardly speak english, she has the class finding the volume of corn, intead of a cone...
easy tests, but she teaches things in a totally different way from what i learned in high school. not recommended.
if you can avoid it, don't take her classes. her test have nothing to do with what she teaches and you can't understand anything she is talking about

She can't speak english and keeps telling people they are stupid after she makes her own mistakes.
Tries her best to be helpful & make subject clear. Does have an accent - but you get used to it. Doing homework for every class isn't required but a MUST if you want to understand tests & quizes
It gets confusing when she uses multiple metherds to solve problems. If possible, avoid des teacher.
This prof was hard to understand and moved through the material very fast.
She doesn't speak English very well, horrible teacher, if you want an A dont' take her
If want an A in the class do not take her. She is very hard to understand. She will critize you and laugh at you if you don't understand something simple in her mind.
EXCELLENT - accent not that bad, if you put forth the effort, she meets you. Helpful, understanding, willing to work extra if necessary. Do the work and you're good.
Can't speak english, she had us finding the volume of corn (cone) for the longest time. Does not know how to offer help. Can't stand to see her even after I have been done with the class for over a year.
she did try to help but i just didn't understand her methods. i actually became dumber for having taken her class
The word positive is pronounced pos-i-tive. Not posi.... Don't take her unless you are ready to do twice as much work as other classes with half as much help.
she is not as bad as people think. the people that struggle with her, are the people that are lazy and don't wanna try
she sucks
very difficult to understand. her methods don't match those of the text. not very willing to help. tests are difficult even after putting tons of effort into studying. even if you understand homework, tests are difficult.
she started the class by telling us we were all stupid because we were in her class. She can't speak English to save her life. She needs to go back where she came from. Oh yeah and there is no such thing as the agreement and disagreement property.
Whoever said her accent wasn't bad is crazy. The whole semester she said numbers were either pos-tive or nakey...ya, nakey means negative. I spent most of my time in class trying to figure out what she said, rather than the math she was trying to teach.

JUST DON"T
Umm . . . yeah . . . Pretty hard class, makes things harder to understand than the book. Pretty crappy.
She was very hard to understand and got mad at people for asking questions when they didn't understand.
No more buku for her!
She is not helpful she moves to fast and does not explain what she is talking about. So if you have to take Math 081 find a different professor.
If you study hard, you will get a A. That's it.
to fast and to hard she does not explain anything because the math department is on a schedule at svsu. Plain and simple this department stinks at SVSU
She is hard to understand and not helpful. She appears to get upset if you don't understand. She doesn't give partial credit on exams and the problems have several steps to each of them. I am good at math and I got a D in her class.
Dr. Liu is a great professor. She presented the material at a reasonable pace and was thorough in her explanations. If you want an A in the class all you have to do is study.
I cannot learn anything from her. find other teacher

they need better math teachers
she doesn't give all answers to homework and never totally answers questions

worst teacher at all costs, never willing to help
What were they thinking when they gave her a job. You can understand a word she says. And she never explains a problem to the end.
Dr. Liu is a good techer. She knows what she is talking about. She likes to challenge her students.Word to the wise:If you are struggling after the first test, even quiz, go see her.She is more than willing to explain things.DO THE HOMEWORK...ABOVE ANYTHING: SEE HER RIGHT AWAY IF YOU HAVE A QUESTIONS!
she tries, but is hard to understand. stops in mid-sentence. material isn't too bad.
B to the A to the D
Class isn't terrible. A fair amount of people complain about her being difficult to understand or unwilling to help, but they're just making excuses for their laziness. Come to class, do the homework, and ask questions when you have them - you should do fine. She was always more than happy to help.

The Worst Teacher I have ever had in my life. You cant understand her and she is the hardest grader. She doesnt give parcial credit if you at least try. Also, if you get the wrong answer but didnt do it her way, she marks it completely wrong. DONT TAKE HER. SHE IS TERRIBLE.
She'd be a great instructor if she was teaching her native language but is horrible at teaching math. It is so hard to understand her that you are putting all your focus and trying to figure out what she is saying rather the the material presented. I would avoid her if possible.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!! You cannon understand a word she is saying! I am an awesome math student, but I did horrible in this class because she is terrible at speaking English. I repeat DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!
If you want to fail, take this teacher. Other than the fact you cannot understand her, she is a lousy teacher, and frankly doesn't care about her students.
She is the worst teacher I ever had. I made a mistake once and I hope you guys never make this mistake again. Take anyone else but dont take her. She wont help you. If you have a problem with something she will say "I DONT CARE". You miss a test even if you are sick she says I DONT CARE. Dont do it!
Great person, not as great of a teacher. She is always willing to help, but sometimes her help isn't helpful.
Cant understand what she's saying
don't take her unless you love math or else you will fail
She is a nice person but very hard to understand. Her tests are really hard so you have to study. She is willing to help if you go to her office but many times, she makes the math harder than it has to be. Not the best professor, but you can do A LOT worse.
She is a very hard teacher. You can't undertsand what she says. I highly don't recommend. She makes a hard class even harder.
Hard To Understand hard class reccomend taking it with different prof if at all possible

DO NOT TAKE from her. She has the worst attitude and is unwilling to help. This class is very hard to pass with her. She also speaks bad english.
She is very hard to understand. Her lectures leave you more confused than when you started. The exams are very complex. Good luck to you if you take her.

Fair teacher, but she is kind of hard to understand some times. Her lectures can be confusing. Her tests are pretty hard. It was a low level math course and I barely got a C in it and I am a math minor. I would not advise taking her class if you can avoid it!
Very hard to understand sometimes. I don't recommend.
how come she could't explaining for her teaching meterial.Make confusing to student cause everybody dropped, now only 4 student stay.Do't take her classes, you might disappont and wast your time.
She is OK if you study along. Hepful.
TERRIBLE! Her classes consist of her explaining simple concepts in "english" the roundabout way. If I hadn't already taken this class in high school I would be completely lost. I'm getting a significantly better grade in the trig half (taught by another professor) than in her part. DO NOT TAKE!!!
Speaks very poor english. Hard to understand. She means well and is a generally nice person, but if I hadn't already taken this stuff in high school, I would have a hard time learning it from her.
She is a very nice person, and willing to help you if you meet with her. However, she does not explain things very well in class, and is hard to understand.
she has to brush up on speaking english first. better off avoid her classes.
WORST TEACHER EVER!!!!! Very Bad English Teaches @ A Fast Pace. Will help during office hours but her english makes it hard. Aviod her if you can
what can I say?
You have a 10 point test everday you go to class. There are 2 100 pt. exams and the final. I highly DO NOT recommend her. Very poor teaching skills. The final is really hard. Says comprehensive, but it focuses on a main pts. in my class for the final it was probablity, chance, and geometric and arithmetic sequences. Get 1 ex. pt for attending
She is very difficult to understand. Her lectures are very unclear also and she does not explain examples well. She is a nice lady and very helpful during office hours but I would recommend avoiding her.
Run. Heavy accent and can lose her patience, causing overall frustration in the classroom. By the end of semester, half my class had either dropped or quit coming. She did warn us the class was tough at the start, though. You're best off working on your own (even though she hates that.) Quizzes are tough to ace. Do the homework.
Nice lady who wants her students to succeed. However, difficult to follow her lectures because of lack of organization and language deficiencies. One on one help better.
she is a good person but she does have different way when she correct the paper avoid her better for your GPA
Worst math teacher i've ever had. I'm a transfer student and have taken up to Calculus. In class if we don't understand, she calls us stupid and tells us we didn't do the homework. I've been to her office and she said she couldn't help me because her office hours were over. Avoid losing out on 600 bucks, take a different teacher.
worst ,worst teacher. Avoid her classes. Most of time you have to study with classmate.
Hard to understand with accent and fails to understand student's questions
Pretty friendly, but has a thick Asian accent which makes her hard to understand sometimes. When she answers students' questions, it just leaves everyone more confused. Doing the homework isn't mandatory, but it helps a lot for the weekly quizzes. If I didn't already know most of the material from high school, I would be really lost. Try to avoid.
So hard to understand, not helpfull at all. Goes very fast and out of order, never matches up with the text book. There is a quiz everyday.
Pretty good professor. Does work & examples straight from book. A little hard to understand & a little quiet, but gives lots of good examples if time. If you do HW, ask questions, study & take notes, class should be easy enough. There's a weekly quiz(except during exam weeks), but only counts 8 of the 11+ quizzes. Also gives extra credit on exams.
The class started out wonderful but due to the Snow days the last month was rough! Three chapters were crammed into a two week period! Take her if you do not have a heavy course load.....
Awful
I really disliked Professor Lui, she was rude and not helpful in the least. I could not stand being in her class and was well rid of her after that class.
Awful. If you think you are good in Math, you will be highly disappointed leaving out of Dr. Lui's class. I couldn't undertsand a thing she said. And she goes entirely too fast. I regret taking this course with Dr. Lui!
I Completely hate this woman. And for me to say that about a professor is huge. She was no help at all, I could not understand her, she goes way too fast and gives pointless quizes every class. The math program at Saginaw is pretty bad already but she just cuts the line at horrible. DON'T DO IT!
Goes through lessons faster than speed racer. If you catch up you're very confused. She's helpful if you need help on a specific, but most of the time i left class more confused. One on one after class isn't much help. If you miss class you will NEVER recover.
Linear Algebra is a tough class. Half of the people dropped out. Professor Liu is more than willing to help you after class if you need it. You have to put the effort in the class. It is tough and can be frustrating, but it does get easy as you go on. Having a good attitude is key. If she sees you are positive and willing to work, you're good.
Honestly ignore the reviews she honestly is not that bad. She has an accent and it is a pretty scheduled tight class but she knows her stuff and does give partial credit for work on exams. if you look at the examples she gives you will do well the average in my class was B. There are worst math professors at SVSU. PAY ATTENTION AND YOU SHOULD PASS!
A very nice professor. Extremely thorough although the accent makes it hard sometimes to understand what she is talking about. She gives you all there resources you need to pass. All you have to do is work hard and pay attention as much as possible. It helped when I took notes.
Dr. Liu could be helpful at times, but she'd make you feel stupid sometimes when you'd ask a question. Her reviews were like what's on the test only the test is like 20x harder than what her reviews and assignments are. Many students in my class didn't even take the final. Having had this class in highschool it was extremely difficult.
Most of my minor successes in this class with Bing can be attributed to my high school math teacher. I had to get my notes from back then to supplement the notes I took from her lectures. She knows what she is doing, but her accent and personality make it hard to thoroughly understand her lessons. Avoid if confident in math.
She is not the worst teacher every but she is definitely not the best. You have to take notes and listen and watch real carefully she talks with her back to the class most the time. Her quizzes weren't too bad but she grades really hard and marks lots of points off for simple errors. She is willing to help though if you go and see her.
She is really so bad. She explains the math with the hardest way which no one can understand it. You cannot understand anything. My advise is to not take her. Got C and i spent my all time in the tutoring.
She is not the worst or best teacher. She is willing to help at her office hours but she sometimes gets the problems wrong herself. She also expects problems done her way however, you get 50% if you get it right some other way. If you do the homework and study you should do alright.
Accent makes it awful to understand. SH egos through lectures way to fast and makes it nearly impossible to understand. Highly do not recommend.
Does not engage class - very difficult to understand and follow. Teaches too fast.
She is the worst teacher I have had in 3 years of college. Her English-speaking abilities are terrible and almost incomprehensible. Dropped out half-way through the semester because I could not understand what she was saying during lectures. I do NOT recommend you take her.
I DO NOT recommend this professor. She is not a bad person but she is horrible at teaching. It is really hard to understand her, and she grades really hard. She takes off a lot of points for simple errors.
You honestly can't understand her at all, and she talks so quietly! The problems she does in class have nothing to do with the lesson and the problems she assigns don't help with the quizzes. I dropped the class because it was so bad and I've already taken a Calc class in high school!
Doesn't speak clearly. Is tough on grading. Marks down everything.
So I had Bing Liu for my first class at SVSU, diff eq. At the time i thought it was horrible but diff eq is a hard subject in itself. Looking back, she was an excellent teacher with a bit of a communication breakdown due to her accent. I would gladly take her again.
She goes through examples, but sometimes jumps around or gets a wrong answer. Her accent can be hard to understand at times, but you get used to it and your using numbers anyways. She is a kind lady and is willing to answer questions at the start of class or in office hours. There are weekly quizzes and normally 3 exams and a cumulative final.
Bing Liu is a good person overall, but I had a really hard time actually wanting to go to that class. Honestly, I have no idea how I got an A in the class because I had B's like every test and assignment. But she gives extra credit for attendance, so SHOW UP TO CLASS.
Tests over stuff that seems entirely different from lecture. Extra credit for showing up, so go to class, you will need as much extra credit as you can get! Doesn't use online grading, which is annoying. Difficult to understand due to accent and jumbled thoughts. Jumps around between examples and problems. Seems nice but not the best teacher.
Extremely intelligent but lacks the social skills to actually teach people
Although of her language problem, she used to give a good clarification of a problem. She was really helpful, but you have to be careful enough for the tests. Her tests are not so tough but every mistakes count. No bonuses.
I was honestly a little afraid to take her for this course at first due to previous ratings, but to be honest she isn't bad at all. Her accent is not a big deal, and after one lecture I was used to it. She is always willing to go over more examples or to answer questions. Yes she grades tough, but do the homework and actually study, you will pass.
Good teacher, just ask questions if you don't understand, and he does a great job explaining!
Dr. Liu is a very nice professor and her lectures are amazing! I highly recommend choosing to take her classes.
she is a nice professor. the only difficulty in her class is her accent
She is a genuinely caring person, talk to her and you'll see. She has a thick accent. I fell asleep a lot, she is not very engaging. Her quizzes correspond directly with her practice problems, they're basically the same. They're difficult but practice them for quizzes, you'll get an 'A' for sure.
Professor Liu is tough, her lectures are long, and sometimes hard to understand. I got much more from the course if I reviewed the section to be taught ahead of time, and helped a lot with the language issues. While she is tough, she is very perceptive to what you are lacking in, and very willing to help outside of class times. She knows her stuff.
VERY GOOD
Disorganized, gets confused in her own lectures. Teaches with very strange methods most math teachers don't use. When students ask her a question she answers with something totally unrelated. Tests are nothing like her study guides. The worst professor I have ever had.
By far one of the worst teachers Ive ever had, has a heavy accent and confuses you more when you ask for help. Would not recommend taking this class.
As another student suggested, take the time to review the sections BEFORE the class. This helps a lot. She can be difficult to understand at times, especially if she is going fast, if you review prior, you will likely understand what she is saying. You can follow along with the book if you get lost. Her office hours are extremely helpful, use them
This is the worst class I have ever taken. Professor Liu has a VERY heavy accent, she is hard to understand, and gets lost in her own lectures. You must read and do many problems from the book. I went to office hours and tutoring center and still failed. She says shell give partial credit on tests, but doesnt. Dont take her class!
has a thick accent but it is understandable. attendance is not mandatory but is extra credit. quizzes and tests have extra credit to help with mistakes on other questions. no required homework, unless a take home quiz.
Dr. Liu is by far the worst professor I've ever had. Her accent is terrible and hard to understand. She gets lost in her own lectures and yells at you if you get the answer wrong on an example in class. Also yelled at me and told me I should not be in her class even though I tested into it. Do yourself a big favor, and do not take her class.
