She is a nice person and great professor. Her lectures are clear and she will give you lots of help to pass.
She is great! I wasnt looking forward to this class, but she made it fun and interesting
great teacher!! super helpful
She's a wonderful, kind and caring person. She really cares about every student and gives many changes to pass the class. If you are having trouble understanding the concepts she will help you to understand. Reading the text book, doing the examples at the end of the chapters and watching Khan academy are also helpful for preparing for tests.
Professor Arakelyan is a great, humble instructor with a lot of knowledge. She is very honest and is willing to help you as long as you are willing to put your best foot forward and try. If I had to take another Physics course, I would definitely look for her name. Thank God I don't though!
very helpful, there for you.
very passionate about physics she really knows her stuff too smart to be teaching. Takes pride in ensuring that the content taught is understood thoroughly. Just do all the home works pay attention and with a little effort an A is easy to obtain.
Great professor who really cares about her students. She's very passionate about what she teaches. If you don't pay attention or put in the effort you won't pass and you probably don't deserve to, lectures are clear and all questions are welcome. If you didn't pass it's because you didn't care.
she is the Pedro Garcia of Physics!!!!
Best Professor ever
Really dignified & knowledgeable on the subject, gives reviews that have most of the questions on the tests, allows you to retake one of the 3 exams she gives- just because, & gives 20 points in extra credit. She does have an accent, but it's easily understood- if you don't get an A it's because you didn't bother
she is caring and nice however, the test are impossible you can study and do the practice questions & fail EVERY test. Im currently taking the class & just got a test back- the highest grade was a 55 the avg was a 27. BTW I DO STUDY AND IM A HARD WORKER THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER FAILED TESTS!! she gives extra credit so hopefully i can pass
Professor Arakelyan is the absolute best science teacher I have ever had. She makes every single lecture interesting and explains everything in a simple manner. She is a sweetheart and genuinely cares about every single one of her students. If you are present for her lectures, complete her hw assignments, and study for her tests you will do well!
this class was not easy but this professor was amazing.. she really cares about all her students and does her best to help you pass. her lectures are interesting and she makes sure to keep the class involved.. her test are not easy you have to study.. but she does give a lot of extra credit to help improve your grades
Sweet person but not the best teacher ever. Her tests are sort of hard, but passable if you study, and she does give a ton of extra credit. Lectures are fine, but not incredibly engaging. She won't make you suddenly fall in love with physics, but she'll always do what she can to help you pass.
The best professor I've had so far! Very passionate about Physics! Too smart to be teaching! Inspirational lectures, gives a lot of help, but you have to study! If you don't pass, its because you don't deserve to!
She's the BEST professor for physics! She teaches it so well. That being said, physics is not an easy subject, but she makes the impossible seem possible. She gives extra credit opportunities, but you MUST study if you want to get a good grade. Quizzes are tricky, but the tests reflect that material learned in class and are very fair. Take her!
Binka is great. Lectures are engaging, also gives lots of extra credit and bonus assignments. Overall a very generous grader but you still have to put a decent amount of work in for any of the extra stuff to help you. Take her, you will do fine.
I took her for summer term. She cared for her students and wanted them to succeed. She gave a lot of extra credits but you have to earn them. Her quizzes were the hardest. Her test are ok but you need to understand the material to do well. She was a little unorganized and she went off topic sometimes.
She made class super easy and fun. Expected the course to be extremely difficult especially if you are taking it to enter a program but she made it very understandable. Very few HW and test but lots of extra credit. She even asks if you want her to slow down. Lectures are easy to follow. And she wants you to pass so don't hesitate to ask questions!
One of the best professors I have gotten the chance to meet at any broward campus. The class requires a lot of practice. She explains the concepts very well and she ties in real life concepts with physics. Class is usually engaging. Definitely recommend taking professor Arakelyn for physics.
VShe is a very funny and interesting professor and is genuinely a great person at heart. However, her class can be a bit disorganized, but it's clear what she expects you to know for each test and quiz, and she is very understanding of you and whatever issues you might have. Very good with lectures also.
I'm grading this professor late because the value of her teaching is clear when I am reaping the benefits of having taken her class while students in my current class are suffering and excellent physics professors come in only one name. She's the only one I've met who makes physics accessible without painstaking work. Her impact lasts years.
The best. I took her for Physics 1 and 2 and wish I could take more classes with her. Her quizzes are brutal, tests are fair. She expects you to learn the material, but gives plenty of chances to do well. Lots of extra credit. Really cares about her students and what she's doing. Checks in for feedback. Definitely take anything you can with her.
Not a bad teacher at all. She is very nice and very sweet but she has a hard time organizing what she is teaching. Overall you will end up teaching yourself everything so buy the book, but if you study it is very easy. She gives a lot of extra credit
I've learned so much in this class! The professor is very knowledgeable, not only in astronomy. She is caring and wants everyone to succeed, but you have to play your part and study, don't expect to get an easy A. If you are reading this prof. Arakelyan -Thank you! You are a great teacher! Respectfully P.
Binka is a lovely professor. She tries to engage with students by giving examples relating to our majors. The extra credit she provides is INSANE. She makes it impossible to fail. Her lectures have great examples. No curve balls. You will have to study though. Tests are 10 questions. She can be unorganized and irritated by laziness. Overall 10/10
If you want an easy B and possible A, take her. She is not the best teacher as she spends too much time on questions and can be very confusing. The extra credit saved me and it's impossible to not get a B unless you do absolutely nothing. Do not take this class if you plan on overloading your schedule like I did or I would have had an A.
Great class! Amazing teacher!
Binka is an amazing professor. She explains everything with clarity and thoroughness. I had her for summer physics (PHY2048) and wanted her again the following summer for PHY 2049. She truly cares about her students. Her quizzes are tricky but they ensure you understand the physics concept . She gives many extra credit opportunities. Great teacher.
My time with professor Binka was amazing. She really broke things down and tried to help all students understand the material and what would be expected on the tests. Quizzes and homework were great preparation and easy As. Even if you didn't do so well on tests, there was tons of extra credit that also helped you prepare for conceptual questions.
TAKE HER!! this is my second semester taking her. I have never met another professor that cares as much as she does. Conceptual questions were a little tricky. But she is always willing to work with her students. Physics is a hard class however, If you pay attention and put in the effort there is no way you can fail.
She made physics very easy. She doesnt require attendance but going will make the class 10x easier. Professor Binka was an amazing professor and I would definitely take her again in the future. She does have a thick accent, but she makes sure everyone understands the material shes going over and is willing to explain multiple times.
Horrible just horrible professor that goes over like 3 examples and does give a sample test similar to her test but, which you can't do since she doesn't go into detail to know what you are trying to find. Take a different professor than her and even the extra credit you have to earn through a game she plays where you answer misconception questions
not worth it. she doesnt teach well, barely explains any concepts & when she does, its not the greatest explanation, and she expects us to basically learn everything on our own. her tests are unnecessarily difficult- with luck, youll get 60 at best(everyone usually gets between 30-55). she offers extra credit but its still difficult to earn.
Prof. Binka is an amazing teacher, she explains everything in details to make sure everyone understands the concepts. If you don't do well on the tests, you were not paying attention in class! The conceptual part of the test is a bit tricky, you have to really understand the concepts; the free response is reasonable, similar examples done in class.
This was my last class I needed to take for my major and I absolutely was dreading it ! But she made the class so interesting and fun! She is very helpful and takes her time explaining the material. Physics is a hard subject but i learned a lot and she has a lot of patience for her students . Lots of opportunities to improve your grades as Well!
She is not a bad professor but she is really hard to please, and his not too lenient. She will check your Assignment thoroughly to see if you have plagiarize so please be careful, i took her for physics online(Phy2048L) it was not a piece of cake i had to retake the class
Had her for summer for lab and Phys w/o Calculus. Not too much work, but you need to put in the time to study for the tests (3) and assignments she assigns online. Gave lots of extra credit opportunities. She is willing to help you out if you ask for it or go to the lab and ask for the physics tutors they were lots of help.
Prof. Binka is easily the top Physics professor and professor in general at Broward College. She is nice, cares about you, and strikes a nice balance between pushing you so youll learn and guiding you. Test are very fair, quizes are challenging but as long as you do every handout she gives you then youll pass since youll be prepared.
Proved to be quite caring & understanding. Was generally willing to help students out. Ex: Provided sample work for labs at times. Classwork wasn't too bad. Hard and time consuming DUE TO SUBJECT MATTER. MUST put in effort to learn. Use book and instructions to study! Only flaw was wish email response was faster at times. TAKE HER, SHE'S A GEM!
Amazing. Please pick up a PHY2049L!
Really great teacher and knows her material very well. Unfortunately tests are much much harder than practice problems so you have to really know the material.
I seriously do not understand all these positive reviews. She might have been nice in the past but after just taking her for Physics I, it was awful. She has clear favorites and doesn't seem to care. Wastes so much lecture time about nonsense and tests are unnecessarily hard. Do. Not. Take.
Took her for lab only. She is pretty chill and easy to talk to. Willing to help if you ask her for help. She has a final (not common at community college labs), but study the material and you should be fine. Study both the theory and the applications. Labs are straightforward, no tricks thrown around. Good grader too.
She cares a lot about Physics and she cares a lot about her students. Physics is not my strong subject, but I attended every class and got an A. I didn't do the reading but I looked at online videos before exams. There was 50 points extra credit - more than enough to bump you up a grade. She went on mild rants about cheating and how she will know.
Professor Binka is amazing. She might be a little tough sometimes but she cares for her students and gives lots of extra credit. She teaches in a traditional way without power point slides, which I found very cool and shows how devoted she is into actually teaching her students. If youre not into physics do not take her.
She gave us 50 points extra credit, and I see why now. She had basically accused all of us for cheating and wasted majority of our class time on things that didnt matter such as her life. This wasnt a therapy session. If the tests werent open book I would fail miserably. I was a transient student from UF, the difficulty level was the same
Great professor, takes time to review material with students.
It's the best professor that I ever had! She always gives a lot of extra credits. Great feedback! Love her!!!!!!!!!!!!
Terrible professor, her lectures are so disorganized, new content is taught the day before exams, is constantly accusing students of cheating but presents no proof to back it up, is constantly late to class, requires a camera but she doesn't turn her's on, says she is open to ideas but the minute someone offers new insight... she gets defensive.
Dont get me wrong. Shes a great teacher. She will take time to explain the subjects. She always accusing people of cheating and you may end up with an F for no reason.
I really appreciate Ms Arakelyan. Shes a great teacher. She knows her material. She is really smart. She gives extra credit and she will help if you need to retake a quiz. She gives 3 quizzes, 4 homework assignments, and one final exam proctored. Shes a tough grader. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO CHEAT. She will be aware of it and youll get an F.
Prof. Arakelyan is an amazing teacher, Physics isn't an easy course at all. But she's great at explaining the material and making it clear what's on the tests/quizzes. Plus she's always open to questions and explaining what might confuse you. She's really caring as well and wants to see her students succeed. If I can I will take her for Physics 2.
She is the best! It is veryy difficult because of the nature of the course, but she is amazing and gives tons of opportunities to succeed and at least pass with a C. 100% recommend her, but you have to actually put the work into this class and study. She cares a lot for her studends and I would say one of the best professors Ive had.
I took her for both lab and lecture, her grading style is nice because the assignments and quizzes are worth more than the exams. Please dont cheat on the exams she reviews the recordings. I recommend studying all the quizzes for the exams.
Gives wayyyyyyyy too much work. She makes us do a quiz for lab and lecture. For lab we have to do a simulation and an hour long worksheet. She makes us write a whole lab report too. I mean who gives lab reports for physics? Her discussions are deadass essays. 5 part discussion for BOTH classes. All of that due the same day. So ridiculous.
Horrible. The amount of work she gives is insane. Were basically teaching ourselves and if you have a job or a life pls do not take her.
She gives way too much work especially if you have her for lecture and lab. She grades kind of tough too. Her discussions are insane its harder than the lab worksheet. Plus i never even heard of lab reports for physics. Just dont take her if you dont want to dedicate your whole life to doing physics you probably wont use.
An online class requires a lot of self discipline and very good time management skills! If you do not have these in mind, it would be better to take a F2F class in person. I love the structure of the class and the way the physics applications are explained. The professor is amazing! She is always willing to help you with the difficult concepts!
comfortable non stressful class she made it very easy to learn and understand physics
Professor Arakelyan sees you as more than a GPA and student ID, she is very caring towards her students and takes the time to answer the conceptual reasoning behind topics.
She is kind and you can tell she has a good understanding of physics. She does give a lot of assignments but if you do them then you will definitely pass the class. As long as you do the work and put effort into the class then you should be good. She doesn't move on till you understand the topic so make sure to participate.
Her best feature is that you(the students) are not just numbers to her, whether in class or out of class. Even though she gives challenging concepts and plenty of homework she will not punish you for not being perfect. She gives multiple extra credit opportunities, curves tough HW questions, etc. Your effort alone will go a long way in her class.
This professor is very accommodating! She went above and beyond always, any questions you have she is willing to help and give any information to help. She generally wants the student to understand the material. I would take her over and over again if I could :)
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! She is amazing she gives lots of opportunities for extra credit. This is a very difficult class as far as the material learned but she explains it in ways it makes sense. Make sure to study the material for tests as the conceptual parts can be difficult. She is super funny, energetic, and cares about your grades.
Seriously such an amazing professor. This was by far the hardest class I have taken but she really goes out of her way to explain everything and if your still confused she will even make videos for you to help you understand better. Do yourself a favor and take her and stay till the end.
Kind, fair professor whose main goal is to help you learn above anything else. Probably the best professor I've ever had who I would take again in a heartbeat if I could.
Professor Arakelyan is an amazing professor. She truly cares, has a great sense of humor and gives extra credit. She made taking Physics no so intimidating. Definitely take her class, I will be taking my next physics class with her.
She always welcome any questions and gives you the best way to analyze the question. You'll be using PhED simulator, confusing but doable.
Bunch of assignments and can be kinda rude.
If you have an option, don't take her online course. She might be a good professor in person but terrible online. The quality of the online summer course was the worst I have seen. Homework or quiz questions don't help with the exams, and she refused to give any guidance. NO extra credit. Graded half of the homework during the last week of class.
RUN worst professor ever. I took her for both lecture and lab and I just don't know how she managed to give C's to almost everyone in class. Didn't receive grade for any submitted material until almost the end of the semester. deduct point for the silliest thing ever. she expect us to know her style and no feedback until the end of the semester.
If you want to develop a great understanding of physics with a great teacher, then take as many courses as you can with Professor Arakelyan. She goes above and beyond to help her students succeed. I don't understand any of the negative reviews, she was AMAZING. She's very understanding, considerate and actually made class fun. Thank you, Professor!
Professor Arakelyan is incredible. Take her ASAP! Every class was enjoyable, and she always very supportive. I wish I could take more classes with her. Physics is a tough subject, but she was able to break it down in an easy-to-understand format. I wish there were more professors like her that put students first and had fun while learning.
She was a very caring professor, and she took time to explain before moving on to the next topic. One of the best professors I have ever had! Thank you very much, Professor Binka!
This was an amazing class with an amazing professor! She really cares for her students and will help you in any way she can to help you succeed. I was struggling a little bit and she helped a lot! I would definitely recommend it.
Professor really loves her job. She is a physicist at the core and wants everyone to love physics as well. She is hilarious and very caring. On to the teaching, her lectures are clear and if you do not understand do not be scared to tell her! She will happily explain it again. USE THE phET simulations they will definitely help!
Really nice professor.
Professor Arakelyan is very knowledgeable about what she lectures. I really enjoyed the class, but I wish she would have derived the equations and given us homework that was easier to track, for example Pearson assignments. The homework she gives out is submitted through paper and so we have to wait for all of that to be graded. I recommend.
instructions are completely unclear and useless.
She is very unclear with instructions regarding the lab assignments and responds to emails whenever she feels like it.
This sweetheart professor cares for her students and wants them to succeed. Her lectures are fast and hard to understand at times, but going to the ASC for tutoring makes a difference and is easy to understand. Show her that you care and listen to the lectures and she will show empathy. Provides materials for you to pass and understand the concept.
Prof. Arakelyan is truly a gem! Take her and you won't regret it!!!! She truly wants her students to pass, show up, DO THE WORK and you can pass even if you don't do too well on the midterm and final. The material is tough but she make this class fail proof and offers extra credit. If you put in the effort, she will get you to the finish line!!
Took her this fall 2024 term at mdc. It was an online class. She's very funny and passionate about physics and knows her stuff. I would def take her again. Only complaint is her choice of using MasteringPhysics for hw. It reduces your hw's grade for each wrong answer entered. Which decenticizes actually trying to practice/figure it out yourself.
Highly recommend taking professor Binka! she truly cares about her student in passing her class. she does give xtra credit which definitely helps boost your grade! Her teaching & demonstration helps you truly understand the material n physics.she does have hw & discussions which weren't bad since it was only about 3-4 in the whole semester.TAKE HER
Terrible professor. I took her for both physics with calculus (PHY2048) and physics lab (PHY2048L). Didn't receive a grade for any of my submitted assignments until nearly the end of the semester. She deducts points for insignificant stuff and replies to emails whenever she feels like it. She's terrible. Please do not take her, go with anyone else.
The overall class is easy but the professor do not respond to 1 email. So far my midterm is not even graded and it's last day of my class
Nearly impossible to reach by email, the midterm was not graded until the end of semester right before the final, the provided textbook permitted on exams is quite honestly useless. Discussion posts feel arbitrary and the labs are awful to do online, especially the lab midterm and final. Had to send repeated emails to see most of my grades.
Overall i had a great experience with the class. The feedback provided for assignments was so good, thorough, and appreciated. The only issue I did have was I never got responses from her when I emailed. Which sucked but the class was actually interesting and applicable to the real world!
Ms. Arakelyan was very unresponsive and made the class way more stressful than it should have been to be completely honest. She waited to post announcements until 1-2 days before assignments were due, and just straight up didn't respond to emails I sent her about the midterm/final. Class was easy enough, she makes the online section very annoying.
(mechanical engineering major) I love physics, but she's not a very good teacher, she made it kinda boring. she's nice but not the best teachy, the grading is fair but I dropped because I knew I could get a better grade at my own pace. you will defiantly be teaching yourself. the lab is great though.
This professor has to be the worst professor I have ever had throughout college, she doesn't grade any assignments throughout the entire semester and you don't know your progress at all in the class. She does not respond to any emails and is a waste of $500. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!
Professor Arakelyan was next to impossible to reach. She gives feedback of assignments very late despite saying she would do so in 2-3 days. Additionally, she never responds to emails and it can be very stressful when you don't know your final grade. I recommend you look elsewhere for a Physics professor because she is easily the worst.
The subject matter is challenging, but Professor Arakelyan has found ways to make the class enjoyable. She ensures that everyone has an equal opportunity to earn extra credit. The tests and homework serve as valuable guides for the exam, so it's important to pay attention, take notes, and you'll do well.
DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT take this professor. Did NOT respond to any emails at all the entire semester. Did NOT grade a single assignment. I still have no clue what my grade is and we already took the final a couple days ago. Grading is not clear at all.
She almost never answered emails, grades weren't posted in a timely manner, and there was zero test preparation. The huge amount of videos and textbook reading felt like filler, and none of it clarified what would be on the exams. Very disappointing class, such A WASTE OF MONEY. Do not take her.
The course content itself is on the easier side of physics classes, but Professor Arakelyan's lack of communication with students like ignoring emails and not grading assignments makes the class horrible. Assignments were not graded for MONTHS. There are NO ONLINE LECTURES. Do NOT take this class online. Apparently she is much better in person.
