this class was easy, all you have to do is show up and pay a little attention and you will pass. unlike most of the math teachers he speaks pretty good english. he gives you a buch of ways to pass
So awesome... extra credit at least once a week... easy quizzes and a full cheat sheet on tests. plus his accent makes you laugh.
Very cool guy. Hilarious accent.

A little hard to understand, but he tries hard and the actual work is super easy. Lots of extra credit... the quizzes are usually like 2 or 3 really easy questions.

Very easy. Habitually coughs and itches his nose. very funny accent.
Seems like he really cared about your quetions. Nice man. All his exams and quizzes were open note so it made the class twice as easier as it already was. The easiest math teacher I think there is at UNR.
cannot speak english, will not help you if you go to him, and thinks everything is so simple; if you take him-- good luck-- if i were you, i would run to another teacher, oh he also sniffs all the time which can be funny but you will get over it quick
Good luck if you have him. He doesn't finish problems and makes a sniffing noise when he teaches. Will not help you if you ask him.
His English is pretty bad, I seriously watched him give another person the answer on a test right after he refused to even help me haha... so he's helpful to some people i guess. Kind of a jerk, but he tries hard. Sniffs a lot and picks his nose.
Couldn't stand him. He was a jerk and the majority of the class failed the first test. It did get easier, but not b/c his teaching got better, but b/c material became more clear from the book. He's not helpful and won't listen to what you have to say. Doesn't understand why you can't understand. Avoid him!
He allows us to 1 page (front and back) of notes with WHATEVER we want for the tests and quizes. His English isn't terrible but if you don't attempt to listen you wont understand (as with all math classes). If you fail tests and quizes it's completely your fault seeing as he allows any notes for the test.
Extremely smart, he seems to skip some parts of the problem (if you ask him do write down what he skipped, he'll help you later). He doesn't want you to fail, if you do then it is your fault. He gives you at least 20 poiunts extra credit on every test. He's a easy teacher if you put in at least an hour of studying before the test.
Good teacher, wants you to do well in the class. Sometimes skips over steps in problems to save time but always offers to help you later. Go to class and pay attention and you should do well.
This teacher is great, he obviously has extensive knowledge and tells a lot of jokes. He also gives lots of chances, like best 5 out of 9 quizzes and best 10 out of 13 homeworks. He constantly offers to help us outside of class and is interested in the material. What a memory, if you ask him problems he just remembers them, he goes over every t
He is rude to some people and is hard to understand sometimes. He's late frquently, and makes you feel embarrassed if you ask a question.
horrible teacher, even though he attempt to give extra credit, and help u on test, he is an horrible teacher, bad english, and his test are extremely hard. I regret that class. he gave me my first F ever.
Probably the best math teacher I've ever had in my life. I'm not that great at math at all, especially in math dealing with Trig and Calc, but he made the class pretty easy. Quizzes are really easy and short. Tests are short too and pretty much goes over it in class. Just attend class, take notes, do the homework. Easy A.
Good teacher, some of of his test were a little tough but overall easy class. he really knows the subject
Dr. Ramazan is funny, even though I don't really think that he is trying to be funny. He explains things very well and extrememly helpful on homeworks. Quizzes are easy as well.
He was okay. It was a difficult subject for me to begin with and he gave me some greater understanding in the subject. However, at times he can be difficult to approach because he feels the subject very easy while the student may be lagging behind.
He is the best math teacher I have ever had. If you go to class and pay attention you can not fail. He has extensive knowledge of the material. Anyone who is saying he is condescending etc is taking his accent the wrong way. He is not difficult to understand but sometimes he uses the wrong words. I'll never take math from anyone else.
Great instructor. Made a hated subject easy to relate to. Corney since of humor but made the class fun. Explained things over and over for those that needed it. Always gave us plenty of notice for a quiz and test with example questions. Plenty of review time for finals!
EXCELLENT PROFESSOR. Very clear, teaches by example, demonstration, and reteaches it so you get it. If necessary, take his class for his off-color anologies. He is hilarious. My TA is Brian Woody. Great as well, but a little arrogant. Very funny/sarcastic. Sometimes he talks to himself to lighten up tension in a room. A+ on both Ramazan and Woody.
great teacher recommened
He wasn't very clear in his instruction of the material. Was always around for extra help, answered people's question. Gave examples that people could relate to like poker or lottery examples. I had a hard time following his lecture and examples.
he is really tricky on his tests but after taking his class i am now way more interested in math. one semester later and now im taking difEQ with hoping for the same teaching style. tough. clear. tricky tests
This guy is nuts. He always has the sniffles and coughs which can get annoying, but is extremely funny. He is hard to understand, who knows what ethnicity he is. I wondered all semester. But if you hate math, this guy isn't all that easy. But being able to have a page of notes front and back is rad. That's it.
I took this class during First Summer Session (along with his MATH 330 class); very friendly, helpful and nice. Pretty much straight forward and no tricks. Do your part and you should get an A.
"It's like comparing elephants" and "Do you really want to kill a fly with a bazooka" are common phrases of ramazan, but aside from the humor they make these concepts clear. His tests are his study guides, and you gotta work hard, but he is willing to help as well as willing to make math seem that much more interesting
He gives you almost exact example problems for the test. You can use almost any notes on tests!
Calculators including TI-89 allowed. Tests are exactly like the review and he allows a full page of notes. Ask and he'll even allow notes on quizzes. His class lecture gives everything you need to get around the sometimes confusing text, with plenty of examples in detail on the board. He has an accent, but it's easy to understand him. Brilliant!
awesome teacher! graphing calculators, note sheets, and will even help you by replacing a bad test grade with your final, if it helps. Would definitely recommend him.
HE IS SO AMAZING!! I hate Calculus and I suck at it but he makes it so easy to understand. He's very helpful too. Drops lowest test score. Only takes highest quiz scores. Drops lowest h/w scores. Easy weekly quizzes. His examples to help you understand will crack you up. Tests are the exact same as practice tests w/ different numbers. TAKE HIM!!!
I ran out of room in my last rating, so this is continued. BUY the text book AND the solution manual. It will help A LOT. And become a member of www.cramster.com. I wish someone would've told me that one earlier. Oh, and you can have a page of notes (front and back) of whatever you want, and you can put as much as you want on them for tests.
Ramazan is a good teacher in that he doesn't mind questions in class and he makes an effort to make the content understandable. The class can go fast and the homework doesn't stay at pace with the test. You have study.
Highly Reccomend him to anyone! He makes this subject clear and easy to understand! He uses silly humor to get the point across, but he gets there. He doesn't make you feel stupid if you ask a question and will go over every problem in the homework if you ask. Tests are very easy and only 5-6 problems. I'd strongly reccomend him to anyone!
He is a very easy to understand and his practice tests are almost identical to his tests! You get one page back and front of notes for the test. I hear he is one of the best offered for calc. Overall my experience was good! I would recommend him!
Dr. Ramazan was a very helpful teacher. I hate math and calculus was terrifying to me at the beginning. He made it much more manageable. The homework was the biggest thing since it was online and sometimes more difficult than material presented in class. Test were exactly like practice ones and you get one sheet of notes front and back.
Good teacher.
Dr. Ramazan is of unknown origin. Italian maybe? He's got a slight accent but it's understandable. He also does this weird thing with his nose that you get over in the first week. His teaching style is amazing. Homework is definitely hard compared to the exams. Get a group of people together and spend a few hours working on the homework.
talks so that you can understand it..good.
the lectures can get boring, but he uses int interesting metaphors towards new equations. u use notes on tests and quizzes are easy. just show up to class and u pass.
He sounds like Count Dracula, with a yayo habit because he constantly snorts during class. His test study guides are misleading, so attend every class and review session so to pass this class. You can get a D on every test, a C on the final, do all of your homework and you'll pass.
He is very willing to work with you until you understand. Pretty good teacher, only negative is he lets everyone talk so the classroom is sometimes very disruptive. Slight accent but not bad - overall I'd recommend him to someone who is weak in math...
Ramazan has a slight Borat-ish accent but he's not hard to understand. He goes over many examples, including ones straight from the hw. Attendance is not mandatory but recommended if you want to pass. He occasionally makes math jokes or references to elephants which are funny simply because they make no sense at all. TAKE HIS CLASS!!
Ramazan is a great professor. His tests are tough though.. I thougth I knew what I was doing, and have gotten 50 & 60%'s on tests. Hopefully he curves!! Much better than last prof I took calc with-- and you get a cheat sheet for tests!
Ramazan is a wonderful professor. He has wonderful teaching techniques, and is honestly interested in every student's success. He is always available to help, though you will very rarely need it. Definitely Take his class!! His tests are mildly difficult but if you go to class and do the homework you should be fine.
Ramazan is a great professor. I would really recommend this professor to anyone. Tests are easy if you take the time to do the practice tests. Lets you uses on page of notes front and back. Will be taking Math 182 with him next semester.
I had Dr. Ramazan for pre-cal 127, and I am so thankful that I did. He does not assume you already know certain steps, which was great. I'm not the best at math but I received an A in his class. You will have to study, but take him if you can!!!!
Probably the best math teacher I've seen so far but the only problem with Ramazan is this: the false sense of security his easy lectures and study guides bring. His tests are so much harder and you may know the stuff, but you can still EASILY fail. But if I had to choose, he'd be the guy.
Ramazan was a great teacher for calculus but the TA I had for his class was terrible. As long as you take every exam seriously and do all the work, you should do very well in the class. I would recommend taking 181 with him if you are willing wait until Spring semester. I think it is worth the wait.
He was one of the best math teachers I had. He was really willing to answer questions, and he did a lot of examples that really helped with the homework. He doesnt surprise you on the tests and he lets you know exactly what he thinks is important for future classes. He knows his stuff.
Clear and concise. Drops lots of poor homework grades. Very good professor.
TAKE HIS CLASS!
Great guy. He wants to make sure you know what you need to without throwing any curve balls. He gives clear and easy to understand examples. He curves greatly, too.
Extremely nice guy, however, he does not do a good job explaining the material.
For a precalc class, if you took it in highschool, the class is easy. He actually makes things harder than what my highschool teachers taught me. The homework doesn't really relate to the quizzes/tests because the website wants it in certain formats that he doesn't like. If you knew this stuff then, this should be a breeze, if not, it's tolerable.
His tests a very similar to the study guide that he gives out which is very helpful. His homework makes up a very small percentage of the final grade. His lectures are pretty clear and I would recommend taking him.
Cares a lot for your grade in his class (:
Wants you to pass, as long as you give effort you are almost guranteed a passing grade!
Great teacher here, Hard to understand at times, but he is extremely helpful. As long as you try hard, you should do fine.
Kind of difficult to understand but really tries to get the material to be learned. Does a lot to try to get you to pass. Recommended.
Has an accent but that doesn't make it hard to understand him. Likes to tell jokes. Pretty straight forward with the material. Best part is that you get a cheat sheet for the tests. THE BAD: availability sucks for office hours. His study guides are a hit and miss. And when he tells you which type of problems you will see on the test from the study guide all of them are 100% :/
Wonderful teacher! I am not a math person, and I understood his teaching methods clearly. His accent wasn't a problem for me. Just listen closely enough and you'll be fine. His grading scale is fair and rather easy. Overall amazing teacher. TAKE HIM!
I love this prof. I took calc 1 and calc 2 with him and i am signed up to take linear algebra with him. He lets you have a page of notes for the tests and the practice exams are pretty similar to the real ones. Nice guy :]
Well, he was probably the best math teacher I've had at UNR, but it was still pretty difficult. His explanations are great but the only problem is on his exams, he uses a TON of sin/cos/tan, natural log, etc. It was pretty impossible. You will only get a good grade if you're good at math, cause it was just too complicated.
Professor Ramazan is the best math instructor I've ever had. He is precise, helpful, funny, fair, and very intelligent. He wants everyone to understand the material and has the ability to explain things in many different ways. He puts effort into his lectures, which are well-prepared, and he has great board organization. Take a course from him!
Best teacher I have ever had! I am not usually very good at math but I have done the best in this class then any other math class. He has an accent but he is very easy to understand. He goes over exactly what the hw is and whats on the test. RECOMMENDED!
This teacher is a funky fun & quirky guy. He enjoys his subject and is always helping his students out, telling them whats going to be on quizes/tests in class. He has a pretty thick accent but once you get used to it all there is is the midterm, final, online homework & partially online/in-class quizes once a week. I highly recommend him!
Dr. Ramazan is a great teacher, an absolute pleasure to learn from and he definitely knows his stuff! He tries to make sure that everybody knows the material but also understands that people care a lot about their grades.
Ramazan is hands-down the best professor you can get for math. He teaches clear and concise, skips the B.S. that is not needed, and lets you know exactly what is on his tests. no surprises, everything is planned and easy, drops multiple lowest HW and drops a few quizzes. Take his class!
Dr. Ramazan is truly one of a kind. He delivers the material clearly and wants you to succeed. He is very approachable and has office hours five days a week. There are never any surprises either. Tests and quizzes are straightforward and are modeled after the homework exercises. I would highly suggest taking a class from him.
Good teacher. Super helpful during office hours. His lectures can be a little fast sometimes. He's fair and curves his grades.
Great professor. Covers all material, makes sure you know how to do the homework. He tells you pretty much exactly what will be on quizzes and tests. His homework grader wasn't great, but he's a great teacher. Very helpful in and out of class. Always went over any questions at the beginning of class. He does sniffle a lot, but not a big deal.
Brilliance and superb teaching skills are a rare combination. Dr. Ramazan can pretty much do it all. His examples and analogies are relevant and easy to follow. If he is teaching a course you need, do whatever you can to get enrolled. Best mathematics professor by far, and I've taken courses from 6 different math professors at UNR.
He is a great math teacher. Test are kinda confusing because he doesn't want you to just memorize the study guide, so the questions are different then what you studied. If you go to his lectures you will know the material well enough. Prob will not have to go to math center because he does such a good job in his lectures.
I absolutely love this man for getting me through calculus. I took a different professor last semester and was failing within two weeks, in Ramazan's class I am getting an A. He lets you bring a sheet of notes to every test! He goes over homework and EXTREMELY helpful examples during lecture so you should definitely go to class.
He was a good professor. Very helpful. Exams were okay. I recommend him!
Ramazan is wonderful. Really wants to help you get an A in his class. Exams were okay, just don't memorize the practice exams. Let's you use 1 sheet of notes for exams. LOTS of homework. Favorite math professor at UNR.
Study EVERYTHING for the final. Actual exam was nothing like the practice exam.
He was a really good teacher, and let you use sheet of notes for the exams. The only thing that I didn't like was his final because it was nothing like the practice exam. Overall he's a really helpful teacher.
He gives "samples" but they are very easy examples and then he switches them out on the tests for much harder equations. Quizzes okay but his exams were ridiculous half the equations he never even goes over. Webassign is horrible-wasted so much time online figuring out what it wanted instead of studying. Ramazan did not offer help with Webassign.
He is an excellent math professor. Never a day I walked out of his lecture confused. ACTUALLY study for the final and you'll be fine. I didn't know a few problems because I didn't go to a few classes towards the end and got a C on the final giving me a B in the class. Excellent teacher, learned a lot, and I would recommend him to anybody.
Very clear. Probably the best calc teacher at UNR. Tries his hardest not to make you fail.
Had Dr. Ramazan for both 330 and 301. He is definitely one of the best math professors here. He is very clear in what he expects from students and usually does excellent reviews. Gives sample tests that mirror the actual test and is always willing to help. Take this man for every class that you need and he teaches, it is definitely worth it.
Ramazan!!! The best math teacher at the university. He really wants you to pass and will do as much as possible to help. His lectures are clear and detailed.
Dr. Ramazan is an excellent teacher. He is patient with the students, and certainly has a good sense of humor. He takes the time to make sure you grasp the concepts, and is more than willing to meet up with you after class if you need. I thought maybe his accent would be a problem, but he is easy to understand. Showing up to class is important.
He is very helpful and if you did pretty good in high school this is an easy A
Ramazan was an amazing teacher. I feel like I understood the subject pretty clearly and was prepared for the tests and quizzes, and that had a lot to do with how precise he was when he would lecture. Imho, one of the better teachers for this subject. Not hard to get an A or B.
Some members of my class had a great experience; however I had a great amount of difficulty understanding him, as his English is not very good.
Pretty easy A, but you have to work for it.
Birant Ramazan was a great professor. Even though he has an accent, he knows his stuff and knows how to teach you. For my class, there was 9 quizzes, and 4 tests, also with online homework. If you study only for a little and do his reviews, you'll get an A. Attendance is not mandatory at all, but you should go once a week at least like I did...
He is hard to understand and the material is super confusing.
Good teacher, he obviously knows his stuff and explains it in a way that everyone else will understand as well. He can be a little hard to understand at times because he has an accent but if you go to his office to ask for help he will gladly give it.
Ramazan is an exciting and very good teacher. Expect to work outside of class. Highly recommend the optional SI sessions and going to Math Lab for extra help.
Ramazan is a super awesome professor. He would go over some homework problems in class itself. Super helpful if you had any problems with the homework. The lectures were clear, and although he has a slight accent, you can barely notice it. He grades very fairly and gives small amounts of extra credit on tests and homework.
Ramazan is very inspirational. He is one of those few teachers that makes class enjoyable while challenging you at the same time. His lectures are always clear. I highly recommend writing concise notes and completing the assigned homework immediately after lecture. The quizzes should be extremely easy, while the tests are slightly more difficult.
Dr. Ramazan is the best professor I've had. He is very clear with the material and is always there for questions. He gives a lot of examples and is very understanding. He is funny and he made me love calculus. There is some work and studying outside of class but it's very easy to understand if you go to lecture.
This man's honestly one of the most helpful, enthusiastic and understanding professors I've ever had. He's patient in explaining things, lets you use homemade formula sheets, and explains every homework problem in crystal clarity. It's not an easy class, but I feel like I have a much more solid understanding of proofs because of him.
This professor is one of the coolest and most helpful people on campus. I've had two classes with him and he will answer any question you need. I love his accent and his cool stories about the history of some genius mathematician. His homework is tough but helpful, his study guides are exactly like his exams.
The most straight foward teacher ever! Retaking him for calc 2 this guy is on point. Never once did I feel missled or tricked in exams. This made the class relaxed and extremely enjoyable. Dont expect to slack off and get a good grade, but if you put the time in you will find just how awesome his class is! He's also hilarious
He is really straightforward making his class an easy A or B but at the same time you will also learn a lot. Just do the homework, study for tests, and go to class and there's no reason you shouldn't get an A. He's also just a really cool, nice guy and his lectures aren't too boring (if you're a math person).
Tests can be hard, but if you don't cheat on the homework and actually study the study guide you should do fine. The homework isn't overwhelming, the quizzes are easy. He also will give extensions if you miss homeworks and drops the lowest test, quiz, and homework scores.
Birant is one of the best professors. He tells you what he expects and doesn't trick you. He stays on topics and doesn't waist time with topics he gets straight to the point. I found I learned a lot due to his teaching method he explains each topic for a few minutes then jumps right into examples. This guy makes you want to go to lecture!!
Ramazan is probably my favorite teacher I've had at UNR. Hes funny and nice and does a great job teaching math. You definitely have to do the homework and do well on tests, but he is pretty understanding. He replaced our lowest test grade with our grade we got for our final, giving us a boost for our final grade in the class.
If you want a stress free class take Birant. Like anyother class of course you have to try and put the time in but he doesnt waist your time. He tells you exactly what to study and expect. This made me dirrect my attention more to actually learning the material rather than stressing about passing! Just go to class and you wont regret it!!
This is definitely a hard class. But Dr. Ramazan is incredibly supportive and understanding. One of the nicest teachers I've ever had, even if his class is very hard.
10/10 would take again
Study for tests, do most of of the homework but not all is needed to get a B in the class. Discussion doesn't help with anything but homework, and go over the practice tests he gives. All of the questions are there with just different numbers. Explains things really easy and his accent isn't too bad.
Ramazan is a great lecturer. He understands the importance of examples, is very clear about what he expects from you and sticks to it, and is very willing to help and answer questions. I would not pass if I didn't show up every day, but by being there and paying attention I've done well. Would definitely recommend this professor
One of the best professors I have taken. He is PERFECTLY clear on what you need to learn, and if you need help with anything he is more than willing to help you get up to speed. Excellent teacher, insanely smart, and only cares about helping you learn. Tests are exactly what he tells you they will be. No tricks, he teaches how other profs should.
Ramazan's test are pretty easy and in class he tells you the likelihood of each question being on the test. In class, he goes over very similar problems to the test and the study guides were helpful. Go to class, study the review and an A is very possible. He is also very helpful if you need clarification.
The best math professor I've ever had. Makes math not only doable, but, if you go to lecture, understandabble. Fair grader and willing to work with students. Makes the toughness of the material not so bad.
I've been a math major here for a while so believe me when I say Ramazan is one of maybe the three best math teachers we have. Always goes out of his way to make sure everyone is on the same page and has everything they need. SUPER clear about what is on exams. ALWAYS tries to meet with you if you mention needing help at all. Really cares about us.
Loved his class.
Works real well with students, I'm glad i took this class. Tough though, but of course, its Calc II.
Dr. Ramazan gives me a hard on. He is the best math professor at unr take hime!! Don't take anyone else.
This guy single handedly made me love math again. When I took calc 1 I had a really bad professor and it made it hard to stay motivated in the class. But once I took Birant it wasn't math anymore I actually got excited to go to lecture. His teaching method and origination make it a pleasure to go to his class.
He is a great teacher! Very approachable! His notes are really helpful and his tests are not that difficult as long as you go to class and follow the notes
He is expects that you will remember everything from all your calculus classes and if you don't, he'll make you feel stupid for even asking. He joked about how he spent 2 hours correcting his daughters math teacher. This guy is not kind or helpful unless you're one of the brilliant kids. So glad I'm done with him, never again!
He is an incredible clear teacher. You will know EXACTLY what will be on the test and he makes sure that everyone gets their questions answered. I went from receiving a 1 on the AP calc exam to getting a 99% in his class.
This is now my final stop with calculus. I have taken him for calc 1-3 and he is one of the best professors I have ever encountered.
Very interesting class. I think I enjoyed this class more because I took it with Ramazan. He is very straight forward with what is going to be on the midterms. His final is a little bit more challenging, but that's understandable considering it replaces one of the lowest midterms. Definitely recommend him for any calculus class.
Ramazan is a solid teacher to take. He does his best to explain some of the concept behind Calculus, and you can rely on him for being knowledgeable on math. Some of these reviews state that he's more favorable to smarter students, I can say that is definitely not the case, because a student like me was able to excel.
Amazing!
Best professor at unr! Take him for any calculus class.
Had a great experience with Dr. Ramazan. Outstanding professor definitely take him for any level of math. He understands math is difficult for students and will make an effort to make sure everyone understands the material. His practice tests are very helpful and he doesn't try to trick you.
The professor is very helpful. Will give great test examples and allows a page of notes for the test. Final can replace lowest test grade! The only problem I had is that WebAssign homework is really difficult in comparison to the tests, quizzes, lectures, and even the text, and it's hard to find similar problems online to work off of.
I cannot express how great of a professor Ramazan is. I have always been a C student in Math, however, Prof Ramazan helped me learned the subject really easily. He explains VERY well and makes the subject easy. We are allowed to use a sheet of notes during exams. TAKE HIM!!!
I never went to class and got an A. Only showed up to discussion when we had quizzes and only showed up to lecture when I had tests. If you took AP Calc in high school, this teacher will be easier than high school.
Ramazan explains things well, but his accent sometimes makes it hard to understand. He also might rush through problems he thinks are easy, while most of the class is shaking their head. He also gives HW assignments that weren't covered by him in class, and on the final exam he added some questions that weren't in the study guide.
He is very nice and very knowledgeable. However, he is a very harsh grader and he gives exams that have multiple choice questions. Regardless if you show your work, on multiple choice questions you'll get no credit. His sample tests are close to his actual test but I wouldn't recommend him due to the weird multiple choice math tests.
Ramazan is the best instructor at UNR. I'm not especially gifted when it comes to math, but I'm going to end up with a high A in his class, because what he cares about are the fundamentals, which anyone can learn. Homework is difficult - I did it all at the math center, and so should you. Tests are easy, and are replicas of his practice tests.
One of the smartest professors you will ever meet. He is a very fair, and traditional instructor that is very fair on his quizzes and tests. He understands Calculus and all mathematics to a superior level. Pay attention in his classes as he uses examples from online, the book, and his own that were all easy to understand. Wonderful teacher.
This professor does a great job of conveying the material, as well as explaining why things are the way that the are, which is important in math. I would recommend this teacher to anyone who needs to take Calculus II, and I will be taking his class for Math 283.
I always struggled in math, but he made it so easy to understand. The test samples he hands out before tests are exactly like the tests, and you can even use a sheet of notes to bring into the test. Assignments are on webassign, and maybe around one assignment a week. Such an amazing professor, he would do anything for the success of his students.
Professor Ramazan has a great teaching style and is very clear on what is expected of the class. I struggled in AP Calc but with him it was a breeze. The exams are very similar to the practice ones and the quizzes are easy. The discussions are great for any questions if you're too shy to ask during lecture. Just go to class and you should do fine.
Birant Ramazan is a great Mathematician and a caring and funny guy to have as a professor. Class is not easy, but he'd never give any question meant to throw you or trick you, he always tells you exactly what to expect and is true to his word. He is also accessible outside classtime and is timely in answering emails.
I had Prof Ramazan for both Math 373 and an independent study of linear algebra. In both classes, he did an amazing job of explaining concepts and giving challenging application problems. He's both really smart and cares about his students a lot and is frequently available in office hours. I highly recommend taking a class with him or meeting him!
I've had Ramazan for three of my undergrad classes and every one of them I was able to do well because he was a great teacher. Probably the best teacher I've had at the University. His accent can take a second to get used to but overall he teaches the content well, doesn't try to trick you on tests and is a fair grader.
He's really great for being a math professor. He is very clear on what to expect on tests and doesn't expect you to remember everything.
A truly amazing professor. Tells you the basics and is very detailed and helpful. He wants his students to pass and truly cares. There is a lot of hw but its all relatively easy. Midterms followed his sample study guide except with altered numbers. Final exam is challenging. Study and youll be fine!
Ramazan provides the very rare combination of being informative and easy. He explains concepts well, and keeps lectures entertaining. He'll often drop hints on what will be in the exams, always provided templates of how to do each type of problem that could show up, and gives a cheat sheet. My favorite professor in the UNR math department.
Professor Ramazan is exceptional at engaging the class and presenting the content of the course in a clear, well-explained manner. His lectures are genuinely something I look forward to. The content of the course isn't too difficult, it just takes some practice. Would heavily recommend doing all the problems on the study guides.
Professor Ramazan was the best math teacher I have had. I am not a math person and I am taking his class just to fulfill my major requirements, but he made my class fun and not difficult at all. You don't HAVE to go to class to pass, but I would recommend it just because he lays out everything that will be on the test and his lectures are amazing.
310 is difficult, this is the best professor you could take with it. The content is very difficult but Ramazan will teach and prepare you. Homework is given but he basically answers most of it if you attend class.
He is a great professor. The only downside is that he has an accent that is sometimes hard to understand and his handwriting is difficult to read. Super nice, funny, and super caring for his students. For discussion, the quizzes are super easy and he only counts your five best ones so you can stop going to math on Friday after that.
study guide is basically the test... quiz are slight.. hw is harder than test... take him
Dr. Ramazan strives for transparency. He wants to accommodate every student as much as possible. His grading scale is adjusted to give people better grades 90%+ is an A. Final exam can replace lowest exam grade if higher. HW is hard, but test and quiz study guides/sessions make the important stuff easy. Take him if you want to understand Calc!
Amazing lecturer, always makes sure that every student completely understands the content before moving on and does his best to answer questions. Homeworks are okay but he always tackles questions at the beginning of class a day or so before it is due. Exams look identical to the practice exams. Do the homework, do well on the quizzes, easy A.
Very good professor at explaining complicated concepts. He has a slight accent. Really cares about your learning and tries to always better explain concepts you dont understand. Tests are easy, exactly mirrored to the study guide. Homework can be turned in late, and answers are online. Attendance not mandatory
As an honors student, he believes that we have previous knowledge of calculus. However, I have never taken calculus before, so his lectures were extremely hard to understand for me considering he would skip over steps when doing example problems. Although it is good to ask questions, when I did ask, he would be very snappy which unmotivated me.
I have never had a worse professor or instructor in my entire life than Professor Ramazan. He spends the majority of the class telling us questionably accurate stories about the history of calculus that have nothing to do with what he is teaching that day. He is incredibly incompetent, and I had to drop his class and retake 181 during wintermester.
Great professor who knows what he is teaching. Took this online and probably would have ended with an A- if the testing proctor place in India hadnt shut down.. 3-4 homework assignments per week plus a few tests and he allows you extra time to finish them at the end of the semester. fairly easy class!
I skipped most of the recorded lectures in favor of just doing the homework. The tests were like the homework and practice tests except that they were not multiple choice. He gives partial credit. He also let the final replace a midterm exam if you do better on the final than on the midterm! Simpler probs instead of allowing graphing calculator. :)
Dr. Ramazan is a super patient and caring professor. He really puts in effort to explain concepts to students. If you've taken calc in highschool before this class is an easy A.
I have had the opportunity to take Ramazan over Fall 2020. After dropping CALC181 in the spring and barely getting a C through summer, I have come to the end of CALC182 with fair ease. Ramazan explains the lectures clearly, does a very good job and answering questions, and the homework/tests are relatively easy as long as you know your stuff.
Dr Ramazan cares about your understanding of the material. The tests are really easy if you pay attention in class and go to recitation.
Great and caring professor. He explains the material very clearly and thoroughly and makes it easy to understand. There is A LOT of homework assignments each week. We had 4 tests and he drops the lowest one and lots of quizzes. His tests are straightforward based off the study guides. As long as you pay attention and do the homework you'll be fine.
Loved his class! Very straight-forward and wants his students to succeed. In my experience, his class was easier than taking AP Calc in high school
Dr. Ramazan is a fantastic professor. He truly wants students to learn the material and is extremely understanding. 310 is not easy, but he balances the material between theorems/proofs and applications of the idea AND goes through many of the homework problems during class. He also has lots of office hours and is extremely responsive to emails.
much much respect for this professor
Ramazan is both kind and caring. He wants you to pass and gives you many opportunities to succeed in the class. The exams are easy if you study and he allows one two-sided page of notes. I would recommend taking any class from him. He doesn't make you feel bad for not understanding a concept and will spend as much time as you need explaining it.
Made differential equations both intuitive and meaningful. Dr. Ramazan is an amazing lecturer, and does a really good job of discussing everyone's questions and concerns while keeping the course on track and making sure that everything moves smoothly.
Professor Ramazan is the WORST professor I have ever had. He had ZERO compassion and willingness to help with homeworks and seems miserable as a teacher and does it for pay. I could not take a test because of technical difficulties. The proctor was there as well but he was not willing to help and I had to drop the class. He is a horrific professor
His teaching is not terrible. However, he goes fast and does not take the time to go over concepts that he should. This would all be fine however if you go to ask him a question HE IS SO RUDE. He does not care about your success or your understanding. If you are someone who likes a teacher you can ask questions DO NOT take him.
Weekly homework and quizzes. You have three main tests. Took this as a 365 class, wouldnt recommend. Professor posted lectures but they were very rushed and hard to understand. I felt like I was being taught by a robot.
More straightforward and engaging. His tests don't consist of impossible questions that you'll never see in real life, he curves and gives extra credit on tests. I struggled at first and then started showing up to his office hours every week and from then on got 100% on each test. He truly cares and you will pass if you put in the time. Good luck.
Dr. Ramazan made us learn the epsilon delta definition of a limit, which is a 300-level math topic. I failed the first test (not suprising), and took the class during another semester where we learned the normal definition of a limit, versus whatever he was trying to do.
On my way to his class to take the final exam, I crashed my skateboard and broke it. When I arrived to his class late and explained what happened he graciously allowed me to take the final in his office the next day. He certainly knows his stuff and his assessments are of reasonable difficulty.
He is a great prof. He cares about you doing well & really communicates with the class about deadlines that work for us, extended time if we need it for assignments, & really makes you feel comfortable about asking questions bc he really wants you to understand & succeed. Study guides are very similar to tests & gives u a front & back cheat sheet.
Hw is a little hard, he does take the time to go over it in class if asked about. The tests are similar to practice problems, which is nice. He taught diff eq very well and understands that some of us dont have great math backgrounds. His tech skills aren't the best, but tries to have zoom up for us. Quizzes were online. He wants us 2 succeed.
He's a great professor. He just wants his students to succeed. Always makes time for questions. He never purposefully makes quizzes or tests hard. He'll extend most due dates as well. The course itself does start to get really hard but if you keep showing up, you should be okay. He is not tech savvy, so if he does zoom it is hit or miss.
Professor Ramazan is probably the best you can do for Math 310. His lectures are awesome and informative. However, his tests are damn hard. He writes his questions in like a 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d.... format, so if you get 1a wrong your screwed. Luckily, he curved every test. Homework and quizzes will save you.
Overall a great professor for 310. Homeworks every week, but it felt doable. Exams were tough, and only a few main questions but w several nested questions for each. He made great study guides and allowed notes (other profs for 310 here don't "believe" in study guides). Only real complaint is he didn't use Canvas at all, so no idea what my grade is
This was the first math class I truly struggled with, The professor cares about our success but at times this class felt rushed and hard to keep up with. I had to find new study tactics for this class and would study for a while. The tests and quizzes were not that bad, but the final exam was a little more difficult.
Final replaces lowest exam score. Ramazan is one of the most caring and encouraging professors I've had. Exams are hard, so be sure to give yourself at least a week to prep and bring questions to office hours - he is extremely helpful in office hours. One thing I didn't like was how new material was introduced exclusively for tests sometimes.
He's my GOAT. He dropped three lowest quiz grades and replaced lowest test score with final. His reviews are good but make sure to keep old tests since he reuses questions a lot. I would've failed the class but he rounded by grade without me asking!
He lets you fail 2 tests and still gives you an opportunity to get an A. He offers so much extra credit as well. Only thing hard is the homework but most of the times the hard questions wont be on the test. 10/10 would take again.
He gives many chances to get good grades. I has to ask for extensions on my homework due to a family issue and he gave me an extra week no questions asked. Honestly would have him as my teacher again. He has a lot of humor and was willing to answer any questions asked without making me or other students feel stupid.
GOAT. I'm a tough critic on professors but he's as good as they get. Tests were identical to study guides, partial credit, and gives the best instruction I've ever seen. He's funny and explains stuff well. You're not gonna be able to do better. Idk what other people are complaining about, tests were very easy, even the final. Easy A
he amazing everything was so easy to navigate if you fail this class you the problem bless this man bless him
Dr. Ramazan is an exceptional math professor who explains complex concepts in an approachable, engaging, and humorous way. Dr. Ramazan is extremely accessible outside of class and cares about student success. His passion for teaching and math is contagious. He is truly an inspiration and role model.
He knows what he's talking about, TRUST. Answers any questions during/after class, or during office hours. Study guides for tests are straightforward and almost exactly like the actual tests.
Very good at teaching complicated topics. One sheet of notes for exams, practice exam is very very similar to the exam. He grades slightly tough, but you know exactly what is going to be on the exam so if you get a bad grade its kinda on you. Drops a few of the quizzes and some of them ended up being take-home quizzes. Decent amount of HW. Nice guy
Incredibly caring and sweet person, he made math feel a lot easier despite it being nowhere near my strong suit. He gives plenty of help outside of class and great opportunities to improve your grade as long as you attend the lectures.
Kindly moved my grade up from a failing one to a passing one before the end of the semester when I believed had a valid case to be moved up
This is no doubt the best math professor at UNR, he knows the topic to such a high level you can ask any question and he will have an answer that will make sense to you, the test are very fair and he explains explicitly what's on each test
Ramazan is a caring professor who makes math more approachable. Go to office hours and use unstuckstudy - it really helps with test prep.
loveeee professor ramazan. lectures are done so well and so helpful, he's always up for answering questions, giving feedback, and explaining stuff. definitely wants to make sure everyone understands and comprehends the math well. quizzes every week, but does review problems in class. three exams and a final, but gives extra credit and curves.
Dr. R was an amazing lecturer and human. Expect many funny jokes and someone who makes his own curriculum as he goes. If you go to lecture he will literally explain steps for every problem of the exam. Will do the study guide with you. Exams out easy and he responds to feedback very well. Wish I got him for Calc.
Ramzan is a nice guy. You can tell he really likes teaching math, and he's funny at times. He allows one sheet front and back for his tests. However, he does give out lots and lots of homework. It feels like there's a new hw every lecture. He does have an accent, but you'll get used to it. His handwriting is a little hard to read, however.
Amazing professor GOAT! So clear and easy to understand! Never makes students feel ashamed for asking questions that may feel rudimentary and is great at explaining concepts. Very clear on what he expects from students. Possible extra credit if you answer some of the difficult questions he asks with some big math terms or if you do well on exams :D
the GOAT!!! If you have the option to take his class do it. Super clear lectures, funny guy, gives homework extensions with no deductions, and has great study guides. No complaints here.
Ramazan is probably the best professor I have ever had at UNR. He cares about his students and his motto has been "there's no reason why everyone can't get an A". Wish I had him for all my math classes at UNR.
He's the best Calc III professor in UNR. The assignments, quizzes, and tests correspond with what he says in class. He practically gives out the answers on the board, but you have to look and see. Don't pick anyone else unless you want daily quizzes or exams that don't follow what you did in class. If you pass on Ramazan, it's your choice.
No extra credit is offered, very strict with due dates, and semi-heavy workload! FYI - MyMathLab for this course NEEDS to be accessed on a laptop/computer, I got behind due to not knowing about this & the professor did take a while to get back to me. Besides that it was very smooth and I highly recommend to watch the videos on MyMathLab app.
Ramazan is a great guy. He is great at giving you the skills necessary to compute the math fairly easily. Take him.
Ramazan is a great guy. The material can be difficult to grasp but he makes it so much more sense. While the exams aren't technically easy, if you follow along during the lectures and do the homework, it should be light work. Take advantage of the sample tests he provides, they really help. My only complaint is that he writes really fast.
