Dr. Ghimire was not an easy teacher. The majority of assignments were posted online, and typically he did not put the assignment up until a day or two before it was due. He also gives pop quizzes and pop "tests" in class, so you better be prepared and expect anything. There are no exams, just three essays that he lets you fix after he grades them.
Dr. Ghimire was a very good teacher in my opinion. He also has a very good sense of humor. However, he can be hard to understand at times but you get used to it after awhile. All he really expects out of his students is effort and respect. Overall the class was pretty easy I would definitely take him again.
The worst college professor I have ever had. Arbitrary grading of papers. Will not provide constructive feedback. Took my papers to friends with masters in English and received a lot of help but some how still got a C on all my papers. save yourself the headache do not take a class with this clown.
He uses only one book. If yo are focused, you can pass. Actually, he promises that all will get A grade in his class. He is fun in class and frinedly outside of class. But, if you miss classes, your grades go down immediately.
Although he is hard to understand sometimes, you get used to it. He talks a lot during lecture about text the class was supposed to read. He really wants effort and respect. If you work hard on the 3 essays due and participate in class you can get the grade, it's not too easy though and requires effort.
Dr. Ghimire would give out pop quizzes. He is really hard to understand but yet talks alot too. It is mandatory to attend class. Make sure you check blackboard for your grades too and the online attendance because he do be making mistakes. The only thing I like about him is respect.
I could definitely tell that I was learning a lot in this class. Other than that, the class was very frustrating. I took it early morning, he has an accent that you have to get used to, and he will drone on and on about things that frankly have nothing to do with the subject at hand. I would turn in a paper that I was very proud of and get a C.
I dropped this class and took it again with a different professor. Was the best decision I made. I probably could have gotten an A or B, but I was so frustrated with him. He is very confusing and difficult to understand. Never knew what essays were truly supposed to be about, so would just try to bs them. Most days almost everyone in class got mad.
Dr. Bishnu is very unrealistic. He hands out grading criteria that do not make sense, and when you ask for help students are never given a straight answer. If he feels disrespected or "hurt" when you call him out on an error he's made, he lashes out on your grade. DO NOT TAKE IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE.
He is very friendly. Doctor Ghimire tells stories but his story can be dull and boring. He is pretty excited to teach literature. I liked his poetry analysis and he knows a lot of things and makes class interesting. Dr. Ghimire cares about his students and knows everybody's name. I am transfering to a university. I will miss him.
Spends more time talking about random things than actually teaching. The entire semester is spent with little to no work and nothing is actually learnt throughout. It's only when it gets to the final few days of class that he tries to push more work and that doesn't help anything. Overall I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone
Expectations unrelaisistic
Hes nice but not really the best teacher. Hes not straight forward when it comes to assignments. It just seems like he talks the whole class but you really wont understand his point. We had to redo a final draft 3 times because he kept forgetting to give us certain instructions. Doesnt answer emails. He also takes forever to grade assignments.
I took English 1010 and currently I am enrolled in his English 1020 for spring semester. Great professor.
Online course
I have noticed that when I turn in an assignment, it gets graded based of his personal preference opposed to how its taught in the book. Also, the critiques given are a bit confusing and don't always apply. For example, I got a ding on an essay because it was "unnecessarily too long" although it was 1,020 long and the guideline was min. 1000.
I get how people think his class is very hard, but honestly he is a well rounded professor. He is very straight to the point and makes sure that you get the content very thoroughly. Other than that, what is there to complain?
This class was by far the most difficult that I have ever taken! The curriculum was extremely generalized/vague to follow; nothing made sense. The lectures would be one-sided on topics that didn't relate to the course. Little to no homework-specific topics. F's were easily given out to students who couldn't interpret the "non-existing" instructions
DO NOT take this class with Dr. Ghimire as a professor. He is disorganized and often late to class. Oftentimes, he goes on tangents and rants about things that have no relevancy to English. His ideas are backwards and in terms of quizzes; the quizzes are very general and vague, not touching on any importance whatsoever. DO NOT TAKE WITH THIS PROF.
Professor Ghimire is very kind and accommodating. He made me feel important and pushed for group projects. I strongly recommend this professor to anyone curious about literature. He is a real gem. Please don't let him pass you by!
Literature has never been my forte. But, a semester with Dr. G. has certainly made me more open to reading stories and poems. I liked it a lot when we were asked to do a short essay about my favorite song.
Is usually pretty nice but is not nice with the grades. The only feedback I received on my papers had to do with structure and not the argument. If it was not written the way he would write it it got a B. Insisted essay was not in MLA format when I used template. Brought it up and his words were, "I do not even want to go there right now."
Maybe its because I took his class all online (web-based), but hes the worst teacher I ever had. Only makes an announcement like once every 2 months, so like 0 contact. Very tough grader, but doesnt give enough feedback on why. DOESNT TEACH AT ALL. Always tells us to go find the info on our own. I tried to reach out to him, and he shot me down.
Professor Ghimire enjoys analyzing literature; that's all class seemed to cover. I gained little in his class; I didn't understand how to explain myself clearer in writing when it ended. Grammar we covered I already knew. Class didn't study essay structure in a useful way. Most helpful aspect of his class was peer editing. Wouldn't retake.
awesome
Professor Ghimire was an easy going professor. He gave really in depth grades, and I was able to get by in the discussions (an A grade) without doing the textbook readings. I would take another class with this professor
Uploads assignments close to the due date, didn't return any of my emails. Gave excessive workload last minute.
Dr. Ghimire is an unfair grader. Even when you prove him that something is correct (and he agrees with you) he will refuse to update your grade. He does not like to give As on assignments. He refuses to communicate or answer questions and when he does, he is incredibly rude. Avoid this professor and change classes if you actually want to learn.
Unnecessarily tough. Had to drop his class to save my mental health.
I found the professor personable and his lectures pleasant to listen to. He does stress attendance however is forgiving if you miss class or come in late. The course itself was rather easy however the colleges 7 week semester squeezed it a tad too short. Overall I enjoyed the class and professor.
Professor Ghimire always offers good and helpful feedback that will make your writing better. It's pretty easy to get an A in the class as long as you do your work. Essays, discussions, and small quizzes can be expected. Professor Ghimire makes the class easy on the students and is always willing to help.
It's very easy to get an A in his class as long as you take time to focus to complete the discussion posts and essays. I appreciate Professor Ghimire for sending encouraging messages throughout the course.
I loved this class. I learned a lot of new things that will help me be a better writer. If you participate in discussions and do your essays you can't fail this class. The grading is very clear and the instructor is only an email away if you need help. I also felt like he gave great feedback on work completed to help in future assignments.
Overall, the class was great. Professor Ghimire provided wonderful feedback on all of my essays. Also graded all of my assignments in a timely manner. I wouldnt say the class is an Easy A, but you could definitely get a B just by doing all the work. Essays and discussions are graded hard but this is a college English class so its expected.
Overall, very nice and patient teacher! I struggled a lot with the web-based format but he was very understanding. Having more organization of assignments on myLearning would be helpful; setting up assignments and materials in set "modules" in the content section according to weeks would have made managing time for work much easier.
Professor Ghimire has been an excellent professor so far in this semester. Always gives an appropriate amount of time for assignments and gives thorough feedback and critique when necessary. I wouldnt say this class is hard but you should definitely prepare to be putting in the work to get the grade you wantslacking off isnt acceptable.
Professor Ghimire was a really good professor in my opinion. One of the most important things to me in a online class is good syllabus organization and feedback, both were given readily. The only thing that was unfortunate was toward the end of the class the due dates really stacked up (given I had 6 courses), but it isn't anything unmanageable.
Very inclusive and interactive for a virtual class!
If you do the work you get credit! Its simple. I didnt do a few things & I still passed the class.. I could of easily gotten an A if I turned in more assignments. But overall the course was averagely easy. Great Professor!! Take it!!
Back to Back essays with a very hard grading scale, made my grade tank. But they do take considerations from the students to try and attempt to make the work a bit easier.
Great Professor, taught me a lot of things throughout the entire class.
In my personal experience with Dr. Ghimire I believe it was amazing. The course load is a lot but I took a three week class so everything had to be fast paced in order for us, as students, to learn and grow. If you know how to balance you and your grade should be fine! Have an amazing semester.
The participation required for the class is great. Needing to do a discussion on the chapters from the book and having to reply on two classmates discussions to relate to their personal experience is perfect. I also liked the peer-critique on our essays. Your classmates would answer the questions given and provide tips to make your essay better.
Dr. Ghimire is a great professor! He gives exceptional feedback. He will adjust deadlines if he is behind in grading, not to cause you added stress. Be prepared to write! If you put in the work, you should have no problem passing this class. He gives opportunities for extra credit throughout the course. He genuinely cares about his students!
He gives a lot of assignments but his feedback on essays are very helpful.
I had Dr. Ghimire during my Spring 7-week session. If you do not do the reading, you will not pass. Otherwise, you'll be fine. The online course could have been a little more spread out in terms of work load, but I learned a lot and feel that my writing and analysis skills have progressed greatly. I would recommend Dr. Ghimire as a professor.
The professor sometimes was hard to understand his feedback, I tried my best but unfortunately, he was hard to grade on essay due to the MLA format. Get ready if you have him he gives assignments the last minute before the semester ends.
Professor Ghimire is a phenomenal English professor. They give understanding straightforward feedback on papers and assignments. In any class that you take with Ghimire, pay attention to specific instructions given to you and you’ll do just fine. Overall, great professor and I’ll 100% take them again!
Professor Ghimire is definitely a tough grader, but I feel that it was extremely helpful to me. I learned a lot from him and this class and my writing is better because of it. It’s not an easy class and there is a lot of writing, but if you work hard and learn from your mistakes, you should do well in this class.
Garbage professor. Don't take if you can avoid. He is confusing and pretends like he knows even when he is not clear.
Great Professor who works hard to get the students everything they need to succeed
Overall, Professor Ghimire was a great teacher. Professor was a tough grader but definitely provided helpful feedback. It was an online course but he was very understanding and cooperative. The course is planned out well and easy to follow. I recommend taking the online course with him!
I would take Professor Ghimire class again because this class to me was very easy there were no meetings it was online work and it worked well with my schedule unlike any English classes I have taken in the past this course only required three essays which were easy.
Dr. Ghimire has humbled me as a writer. I went into this class thinking that I was a solid and that I would be spectacular. After I had submitted my essays, however, I realize that as someone who has such a passion for literature and poetry writing, I was not exempt from mistakes. If you thoroughly enjoy reading and connecting, I highly recommend.
Professor made sure you earned your grade. He gave the most work in an 8-week course than any professor I had this past four-terms but I think that helped the most in my writing (which I struggle with) and understanding of Literature. Overall it was a good class and a useful course to obtain my degree.
Professor Ghimire, was a great Professor. She took the time to carefully grade assignments and provide feedback that would help you in the future. I think that yes she can be tough when it comes to grading papers, however I think she does this in an attempt to push her students ti be the best they can be. I would absolutely take her courses again!
Dr. Ghimire was a good professor. You definitely will have to read your material and be prepared for essays, discussion posts, and quizzes. Fair grader and when you are marked down you are given good feedback on how to improve. I would take a class with Dr. Ghimire again.
Dr. Ghimire's expectations are straightforward from the start. If you put in the hard work, you won't have any problem succeeding in class. Discussions, Quizzes and Essays are all important so you can't just do 1 or the other, do them all. He's reasonable when there's too much work, he actually deleted a couple of assignments for us.
Instead of just giving you an A for doing the work, he wants to help you actually improve your writing skills. He grades harder on the essays but provides the most feedback I've had out of any college teacher. He also took time out of his day to break down parts of my essay and how to improve. I definitely recommend Professor Ghimire.
Extremely tough grader! Your essays will be highly critiqued to the point where you might lose confidence as a writer. I did well in this class but I spent ALOT of time and ALOT of hours trying to do so. Too many assignments, sometimes 3 due in one week. The syllabus is clear; you NEED to do all quizzes, essays and discussions to stand a chance!
Absolutely the worst professor I have ever had. He is rude and does not care about his students at all. He will shut down any questions and genuinely does not want to be asked them. He doesn't help his students succeed or help them at all.
Genuinely one of the most frustrating human beings I've ever had to work with. Takes over a week to respond to emails, makes up fake feedback, and can barely write himself. He will write feedback for your essays that clearly indicates that he never actually read them. Be prepared to email his supervisor to get him to respond to his own emails.
Bishnu is a true charmer
A true charmer
If you have the choice don't schedule a class with him as a professor. His grading is very inconsistent and hard to alter your writing to fit. All of the grades, such as discussion posts, and in-class activities had no strict grading at all. But he grades essays on weird criteria where there are always complaints. They account for half your grade
Ghimire was well intended, but his communication was poor (ex. unclear grading criteria, inconsistent/confusing remarks on papers, contradictory instructions, office hours listed as "N/A", emails left unresponded to.) However, he occasionally offered (very time consuming) extra credit, and would sometimes extend due dates.
Not a very strict grader unless you're looking for an A on every assignment. Pretty small workload overall. The few essays are split into multiple assignments where everything but the final draft is a free A as long you do it for those bad at writing essays too.
I think Dr. Ghimire did a great job! The class is 100 points and he offers 8 points of extra credit. He does a great job of giving you feedback and is very responsive to his students through his discussion post labeled "Q & A." It is fairly easy to do well in this class as long as you do your work. I feel like I am a stronger writer now!
To keep it short, Professor Ghimire was extremely helpful and quick to respond with every question I had.
This class was a great intro into writing/english. The workload and material was entirely manageable and the expectations were set clearly. He is willing to accommodate (within reason) and wants to help you if you want to help yourself. You'll need to intensely listen sometimes to fully understand but overall it was a very pleasant experience.
If you're good at writing, this class will be pretty easy.
This professor is attentive and responsive to emails and inquiries. He is a tough and intentional grader, which is refreshing for an online course. Expect to do a lot of work... it's an English Lit course, should be expected!
Prof. Ghimire was my very fist college professor for ENG-1010, so I was excited to take him again for ENG-1020.I felt that his online course was slightly unorganized compared to other online courses I have taken. Assignments were not organized into modules, rather all together and sort of hard to navigate. Other than that, I enjoyed the class.
Professor, Ghimire is a very intelligent, he is helpful, If you need any help about your course don't hesitate to contact him, He is always there for his student but you have to submit you assignment on time, Highly appreciate his teaching.
We had a rough semester. He grades hard and does not give rubrics or expectations. Hard to get hold of. I was having such a hard time and lost my confidence until he offered one on one Zoom meetings to the whole class, at the end of the semester. It was AWESOME! If you are struggling with his grading/feedback, get a meeting with him! It helped me!
I took ENG2020 online for my high school graduation requirement and (coming from someone who loves/is good at English) hated every minute of it. Course content was interesting, but Ghimire's assignments were always poorly spaced out timewise with unclear instructions. Difficult grader, and often somewhat disorganized with poor communication.
I had him for a dual enrollment credit. I would NOT recommend it to future students. Even though it was an online course, there was zero instruction. No lectures, meetings, or lessons. Several peers and I were failed on our finals with no criticism given. Grading was slow and arbitrary. Due dates were strict and you weren't allowed to work ahead.
I took this class as a high schooler doing dual enrollment. Professor offered no type of lecturing, just linked several outside sources to get information yourself. He gave A's for all process assignments but graded essays horribly, with no specific feedback. I even had to reach out to the department chair to get him to respond to his own emails.
Course was super unorganized. Working ahead was not allowed. Professor wouldn't allow late work for any reason, however would often take extensive time to grade assignments. He told students not to email with questions and would often ignore or take a while to. respond back. Professor genuinely did not care about students.
The course went well, I could have done better personally but Professor Ghimire was a very good and fair professor.
Professor. Ghimire did not teach me anything. There were no clear expectations and no rubrics. His feedback was very vague and utterly crushing at times. I wish he would have taught us how he wanted the papers to be written instead of grading them so harshly and having to learn from failure. Which put my grades at risk. Definitely not professional.
Although this was a tough course, the professor was good at responding to any questions and concerns. Some assignments were pretty in depth/expected a lot but he was fair when it came to understanding why the grade was given with feedback. Overall, an understanding professor that pushed us to succeed.
Dr. Ghimire is a great professor! He is not only a teacher but a great motivator. He sees the potential of your work, gives advising feedback and hands you the grade you achieved. I once did an assignment on the wrong subject but he still gave me the grade i deserved. 10/10 would recommend!
No matter how much work you do or the hours upon hours effort you put into this class, it never seems like enough to get an A. Grades super tough and gives little feedback as to what you did wrong or could improve.
If DTM was a professor. Your essay will never be good enough. He likes to give harsh, unnecessary comments on essays just so you can complete a reflection of said comments and supposedly "learn" from them, rather than teaching skills to use before writing the essay. Also, he never gives full credit on discussion posts. Avoid class at all costs.
Dr. Ghimire's approach to teaching wasn't the best. He responds to questions without clarity so it always left me confused. His feedback on assignments were vague, making it difficult to understand how to improve certain areas in my writing. Last, he's terrible at communication he never responds to emails. I recommend the class not this professor.
I took this professor for my 3-week winter course. Their feedback wasn't very helpful (imo) to improve my writing. I personally think they grade a little harsh, however I did land a 886/1000 (88.6%) in the course. They offered 4 extra credit opportunities, so take advantage of that.
Have nothing to say about him.
Was not clear on assignment guidelines and graded weird. On some assignments he would give me points for something, and on the next he would take away points for the same exact thing. He tended to veer off topic during lecture and gave poor feedback on writing. Also he would wait until our class time had already started to tell us he wasn't coming.
Do not take. Extremely harsh grader. Feeback isn't help and is degrading and hurtful. Expects perfection on essays even though guidelines aren't clear “Learn from failing” mentality. Gives off a no one deserves an A mentality. Only positive was quick responses to emails. I would avoid if you want an A in this course or on any assignments.
dont dont dont
One essay will get a better grade with a lot of errors but the other will be graded bad just because of a header.
