He makes the class very fun. Enjoyed his teaching style. Two tests, the first one was easy, but the second was pretty hard because half of the answers he never lectured on. Overall good teacher, great class to take.

Class was okay. He invites way too many questions. Don't be surprised if 40 questions are asked. Stayed mostly the whole time because of those questions. 1 mid-term, 1 final, and quizzes.

Its an easy course, has quizzes every week, but overall its not that demanding.

Hard class, but you learn a lot. Quizes over reading every week. No papers. Very funny! Great class and teacher

This dude is hilarious! He is very entertaining, makes you want to go to class, knows his stuff, not hard if you go to class, study for the quizzes to get an easy A, this was my favorite class at SDSU.

This guy should be a professional comedian instead of a district attorney! He is HILARIOUS and really knows his stuff. The BEST professor I have ever had. He is hot, but married with 2 cute girls. (He will show you their photos in class!) He teaches real life stuff, not theory. A MUST TAKE!

Blaine is the best professor I had at State (besides Thompson). He knows what he's talking about and communicates his knowledge very effectively. I recommend this teacher to any CJA major. If he likes you, he will pick on. Oh ya and hes the hottest teacher at State!

He is a very funny and energetic professor. He makes the subject very interesting with real life examples. You have to study hard for the midterm and the final, but other than that it's cool. Every CJ major should take a class from him. Careful though he likes to trick you with when the quizzes are. Other than that he's the best teacher at State.

Blaine is so good that I had to take both of his classes. He is absolutely one of the best teachers at state. The class is not a cake walk, but they are never boring, and well worth the time and effort. State needs to hire more people like him instead of all those stuffed shirts.

He is one of the greatest profs I had at state. He is fully entertaining and you learn something at the same time. What a concept! Class is not a chore.. you will want to go. Although you better be sure to study for his exams. If you don't take a class from him it's your loss.

Blaine is so Cool. His class is very interesting and he shares real life cases that he has prosecuted. The class is very interactive. The only this is the he gives a lot of quizzes and his test are not that easy, but not impossible. You must study...but the material is intersting.

Bowman is the best prefessor here at SDSU. I wasn't thrilled with the class being at 7pm, but I'm so glad I'm in the class. Lectures are always entertaining because he's funny. Since he's a DA, he uses examples from his cases which are better than just what's in the book. Best class ever. I plan on taking him again for 420 next semester. *HOT*

by far the best teacher at SDSU. he's hilarious and makes the class lots of fun...i actually look forward to it, which is kinda weird. it's difficult but you want to do well because he's such an awesome teacher. and if you ever have any questions, ask! he's more than willing to help out

Bowman is an awesome teacher. He is hilarious, making it easier to understand the subject, and he always answers questions. Even though there are quizzes every week, it ends up helping a lot with your grade, and it makes you read, making it easier for the midterm and the final. Do not expect to get an easy "A" here, you have to work for your grade.

Most likely the coolest teacher at state. I ask stupid questions all the time and he usually makes me look dumb after but i'm sure it makes everyone else in class have a good time. Also, he really does know his****, shows you autopsy photos, and makes class fun. not super easy but you will learn valuable info.

He was not as funny as i thought he would be, but funnier than the rest of the cj professors. He usually keeps class till the end. The quizzes are easy as long as you read and the test are very hard, but he curves. Just go to class every week and you'll be fine.

Attend Class! He keeps the entire time, but it's interesting and goes by fast. Great Sarcastic sense of humor. MidTerm is difficult-STUDY, FINAL requires lots of STUDYING-No Study guides given. Weekly quizzes on reading help your grade. Loved going to this class every weds. night!!!

Professor Bowman is so entertaining in his teaching that I can't help but absorb everything he says! The tests are a little tricky, but well worth it. Attend class his notes are pretty much the test and his stories are funny!

Professor Bowman is hilarious. His lectures were fun and interesting. His tests are very tricky although they are geared toward general themes, it was still difficult to do well on. Everyone did poorly on his tests so he would curve them. He is super intelligent and extremely goodlooking...I mean hot, his wife, the judge, is a lucky woman.

The best cj teacher at state!! I had him for 320 and 420. Take him for both. Attendance is not mandatory, but class is fun, he's funny, and you'll do well on the tests if you're in class. Love this guy!

If you are planning on taking 420, take it with Bowman. Lectures are very interesting. Get the book and read it, especially if you want an A. Good course to take if you are interested in law school.

The best CJA professor at state hands down, the class is super interesting especially when it comes to homicide. You stay the whole time mostly but he is hilarious so he makes class go fast. Seriously he had us all cracking up the whole semester. Take him. He's a judge and a boss.

I LOVE PROF BOWMAN! You have to take him as a CJ major. As a judge and former DDA, he is fully qualified to teach this course. Grade based on midterm and final. You have to go to class if you want to do well. He's interesting and funny. Keeps you til the end, but makes up by canceling 3 lectures. I loved going to class! Good looking too.

Two tests. The book is not necessary. Take thorough notes, and just study those. Some test questions are tricky. Half multiple-guess, half essay. Not too hard. Most people get A's. Very interesting class. Valuable material that is applicable to real life.

This is an awesome criminal law class to take. It can be challenging considering the class is evaluated with just two tests--a 40% midterm and 60% final. But it'll be rewarding to get an A in the class, especially for potential law students. Learning from a Schwarzenegger-appointee AND an elected judge with a jovial personality was a blast.Take him

Laid back style of teaching and fun to listen to. The final wasn't difficult but it was harder than I expected.

Professor Bowman is one of the best professors I have ever had. Take detailed notes of every case he talks about and the outcome of each case and you should do well. He keeps you laughing the entire class which makes it easy to go to night class and easy to learn. You'll also learn a lot of real laws, not just a bunch of theories.

I would take this class over and over if I could! Bowman is SUCH a funny guy, we spent most of the class laughing and even though he teaches night classes, they go by so quickly you almost wish you could stay longer! This is also the only class I had this semester that I actually learned important information that I can use after college!

Bowman is the boss. He is seriously the only professor that actually makes class fun and interesting. You learn things that will help you in the real world. He's hilarious, opposite of all the other monotone, half-dead professors we're all so sick of. Take his class. It's fun, you'll learn a TON. Just take good notes and you'll do fine.

BEST PROFESSOR AT STATE! Pretty much the funniest guy I have ever met. Go to class every day or you will not do well on the exams! The exams are fun and if you paid attention to lecture and the jokes, you will do just fine. He is always there to help and give you advice. He is a very accomplished and intelligent man, you learn from him every class.

There was reading involved but if you did the reading and attended lectures, there was no reason you couldn't ace the tests. I scored incredibly high on both exams and walked away learning a ton. Best class I had at SDSU. It is worth taking the time to study and learn about the law as a CJ major. Bowman made this class interesting because unlike most CJ professors here (Sutton, for example), he has field experience. He will tell you stories and keep you interested, you'll want to stay the entire time til 9:40pm!

Best teacher at San Diego State! His class has been the best class I have taken at State. It is a challenging course but he keeps things interesting as he shares his own stories. One of the best CJ professors here at SDSU. I loved coming to class to learn about the law because he is passionate, hilarious and knowledgeable in his field. Professor Bowman always had an interesting case to tell us at every lecture. A definite must for any CJ major because you should be able to know the law, and how the courts operate.

There are only two tests that makes up your grade, midterm and final. He gave extra credit this semester for writing case briefs. He knows how to teach criminal law and makes it really interesting. Make sure to come to class because he does not post the powerpoints online. I loved this class!

I would definitely take this course again! Bowman knows the material and uses a lot of cases he's worked on as a judge/attorney. He makes the class really interesting and is hilarious. He teaches just for fun but it shows that he cares about students succeeding and knowing the material. Take this class!

Bowman's class was honestly the only class I learned anything in this past semester. He is very knowledgeable about the subject(he's a judge) and is pretty funny during lectures so class is never too boring. Even though the class was the 2+ hour class, it went by pretty fast. 2 exams which he curves heavily and some extra credit at the end.

Loved his class! Make sure you do all of the extra credit it will really make a difference on your final grade. (Learned that the hard way). So funny and knowledgeable. One of the best courses I have taken.

The tests rely ONLY on lectures; the textbook is pointless. But he's a really good teacher, and he makes class material very clear and easy to understand. The examples he gives are memorable, and his lectures are always entertaining. Even the tests are funny (and easy). He usually lets us out early, and has extra credit opportunities. Would rec.

If you want to learn you need to take this guy, he has all the acknowledge and skills to teach CJ320. He is funny, energetic and very friendly. The class consisted of a midterm worth 40% and a final worth 60%. Do the extra credit! It bumps you up half a letter grade. The class is easy if you just show up and study. The final was a piece of cake! The professor knows what he is talking about and makes class very interesting and FUN!!! He is a judge so don't miss out on this opportunity!

Total of 100 points, 2 tests. 1st was multiple choice 40 questions. 2nd was 20 multiple choice and 40 points written answers. Not hard though if you learn the homicide stuff. One or two classes before the final he gives examples of the written questions, remember the answers cause some were exactly the same. HILARIOUS prof, memorable examples

Professor Bowman was awesome. Definitely the best class and professor ever taken at SDSU. Lectures were very engaging and fun. This is a class that everyone, no matter your major, should take at some point. I have never enjoyed a class as much as his. Definitely recommend taking this class.

Best Professor EVER!!! Class is 40% midterm and 60% final with 5 possible extra credit points if you write some case briefs. He is super funny and acts out crimes when explaining what they are. Tests are based on CA law so you don't really need to read the textbook but sometimes he bases questions on the test on cases from the book.

Class is always a night class because he's a judge, but never takes up the full time. GO TO CLASS!!! everything on his tests are based on the outside reading cases and his lectures. You don't need the textbook! Tests are a bit challenging, so make sure you actually study. He's an amazing professor and super funny!

Professor Bowman is passionate about teaching his students the most important material in the course. Professor Bowman is a great teacher, he's hilarious and drives the point home so that you understand what he is trying to teach you. He gives a midterm and a final based on a 40/60%. However, he does give extra credit which can be difficult, but if you do them all your grade will go up by at least a half of grade.

This judge is on FIRE! Bomb lectures, really helps absorb the material which can be tricky and difficult to understand. Cool guy, very respected in job and by students. If you're a CJ major definitely take this class you will learn a lot about criminal law. Very awesome class!

The first professor I ever had a crush on. He is hilarious and passionate about what he does and teaches. It is hot when he talks about his cases and just everything about it. Sadly I am only two years older than his daughter, no pues wow. 10/10 would recommend.

This professor made 3hrs go by really fast. He is hilarious. His lecture are real-life experiences in the court and engaging. I highly suggest taking this class. He worked as a prosecutor and he is currently a judge. Best professor I had on this campus.

Judge Bowman was an incredible professor. Attending his lectures was fun and very engaging. COVID-19 caused the class to switch online which was a huge bummer, but he still managed to make it as engaging as possible. If you want a career in the Criminal Justice system, be sure to take him. If you don't, you're missing out on something special.

Easy class, go to class, take notes, 2 test. one extra credit if u do it u pass the class. test are difficult but if u do the extra credit u be fine. awesome professor. interesting class and lectures.

Amazing and knowledgeable professor. Does not take attendance, but classes are so enjoyable that I look forward to them. You should attend if you'd like to pass. Do the extra credit, all five of them. Bowman is super understanding and works with his students to help them. He is my favorite teacher @ SDSU (there aren't many I truly enjoy here.)

Bowman is the best professor I've ever had and CJ 320 was the best class I've ever taken. He is a judge and former DA so he gives students opportunity to go and watch trials in his courthouse and shows materials from real cases he has worked on in the past. His lectures are so cool and teach you only things that you need to know in the real world.

Finally, a professor who made class fun and put in some effort. Only a midterm and final so take good notes. He does offer extra credit. He's very interactive with the class, makes lectures fun by engaging, and cares about his students.

If you want a fun, engaging class take Prof Bowman. Absolutely amazing lectures, and he engages and makes it entertaining so you actually want to pay attention. He's been a judge for years and a lawyer beforehand so this guy knows his stuff. Definitely come to class because he doesn't post actual lectures but does give CALCRIMs. Overall great dude!

Can't say enough good things about Bowman. By far the best class and professor I've taken. His lectures are so interesting you'll be looking forward to coming to class; he is also super funny. Only graded on a mid-term and final with some extra credit but if you pay attention and study ur big chillin. Also brings his dog to class and she's adorable

Judge Bowman is my favorite teacher at SDSU. His class consolidated my decision to go to law school. Your grade is based off the midterm (40%) and final (60%), so go to class and watch his video lectures. He is very engaging and explains the material very well. He also offers extra credit which you should do. He wants his students to succeed!

amazing professor i can honestly say this is the only class where i actually learned something. he makes every lecture super entertaining and he gets some extra points for bringing his dog to class everyday

Professor Bowman is my favorite teacher I have had in my whole life. I am frequent class-skipper and I did not miss a single class all semester because I wanted to be there. His lectures help you really understand the material, and if you just go to class (which you'll want to), you'll do good in the class. Best professor ever.

Best professor at SDSU, other professors should take note on his teaching style and class structure. It is rare to have a class where the material is not just memorized for exams, but is internalized because the professor inspires his students to consider the real-world circumstances tied with subject.

The best proffessor I ever had. This guy makes the lectures so fun and intresting! He has a great sense of humor and I am happy to say i went to all his lectures because just the way how well structured the class is over all. You put in the effort in this class and do the reading every week, you will get an A!

One of the best criminal justice professors I've ever had at SDSU. Presents exceptional lectures that will prepare you for the midterm and final. Although he does not grade participation, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to attend his lectures if you want to pass this class. Take good notes, go to every class session, and you'll do good on tests.

I was a German exchange student and loved this class! He's super funny, but still took the class serious. He teaches in a very unique way, that makes you want to attend every week. He always comes up with funny stories and still manages to teach in a very professional way. You really learn a lot in this class without being stressed out! Best Prof.!

Professor Bowman is an AMAZING professor and extremely knowledgable. He keeps everyone engaged with his lecture material. It's entertaining and practical, with cases he personally had. Professor Bowman is an amazing professor who brings cj to life with real-world examples and engaging class discussions. Attendance is mandatory as he doesn't post his lectures online. Grade is based on a midterm and final which he helps you by telling you what you should study and also gives EC. He always brings his cute dog to class!

Take the class. It says a lot about a professor when your grade is 40% midterm and 60% final yet everyone still loves him. Attendance is mandatory if you wanna pass but you'll want to be there anyways. Between his charisma and the interesting subject matter, it's just not a class any CJ major will want to miss. Extra credit offered too.

Better call Bowman

It was like taking a class with Saul Goodman. Lectures are actually entertaining/interesting and he has tons of personal experiences with California Law. Just show up to class and you will pass. Did you know that you have rights, the constitutions says you do. Shout out Pepto the Goat.

Really makes class interesting. You have to show up and make sure you take good notes. You get to understand California Law, he is a sitting judge, so it's nice to hear all of the cases. You will be entertained!

Awesome Professor! His lectures are very interesting. I took him for a 7 pm class that ended by 9:40 pm, and you'd think I would be asleep by the middle of the lecture, but as a standing judge, his class was very entertaining and engaging, the best class I've taken yet. There was only a midterm and a final, plus some extra credit opportunities.

I love this professor! He never failed to make the class laugh with his lectures. He gives very entertaining lectures with plenty of real life examples to help you understand the content. His experience as both a DDA and a judge are very interesting and he implements his past experiences into lectures as well. My favorite CJ class ever!

Bowman is the best professor I have had. He teaches from his experiences as a judge & prosecutor. The grade is 40% midterm & 60% final but there's EC and he grades the exams on a generous curve. If you show up to all the lectures & do a little studying, the exams aren't too hard. He offers letters of recommendation to students who receive an A.

I wish I was this guy! He reminds me of Mel Gibson from WE WERE SOLDIERS for no reason! Don't miss class cause his lectures are not on canvas. Dr Bowman is the perfect role model of what a Prof should be! I thought I was going to fail hard but no I did it! I graduated. Thank you Dr Bowman!! I wish I had him more often! RIP Daisy, we miss you!

Professor Bowman is an incredible professor and an even better mentor. As a sitting judge, he brings real world knowledge into the classroom and is incredibly passionate about what he does. He truly cares about his students and will go the extra mile for those who put in the effort. He wants his students to succeed. By far my favorite professor!
