Take Blair Flicker!!! You won't regret it. He really cares about the success of his students and gives good examples which makes it easy to understand the topic. The topics in this course are not too hard and it is easy to get an A. He is very knowledgeable and helps you if you struggle with a topic. I enjoyed his course a lot.
He is a really good and interesting teacher, and he really care about people! Also he is super smart.
Smartest professor I've met in a while. You just love to see it. participation is 5% of your grade but attendance isn't necessarily required. exams are tough but curved typically. Homework is relatively easy and not long. Life is awesome.
The class is interesting, its three tests and curves them based on. the class performance, so be smarter than everyone in your class. Be at class most of the time especially at the beginning. Make sure to study for tests, but he curves them a ton
This is easily one of the best professors I've ever taken. Flicker is extremely smart and knowledgeable, and he understands that we are young college students. His lectures are entertaining and he curves exams very hard depending on how your class did. Would definitely take him again. Attendance isn't necessarily mandatory. Life is awesome.
Life is Awesome! Flicker is one of the smartest teachers at USC, actually cares about the students. Exams are hard but he places a strong curve on almost every exam. Always makes his lectures interesting. No textbook required and homework is pretty easy
Prof Flicker is the best teacher I've had in Darla. I would take him again if I was a supply chain major! It's a challenging class but he wants everyone to not worry about their grades because he the weighs tests and your final grade based on how the class is doing. It was his first semester here and I'm so glad I took the risk with him!
Professor Flicker is one of the better teachers that I have had here at the University of South Carolina. Wasn't sure what to expect from his class, as it was his first semester teaching here. Material is hard but he does a good job of teaching it. Hard grader but curves in terms of letter grade for each exam. Would recommend.
Made lectures fun for the first time in Darla. Even though it was a night class on a thursday it was still something once I was there was engaged in and was a fun lecture. Interesting topics that can get bogged down with heavier topics but always splits up class and has stretch and relax time to get back into it. Would recommend.
Mr. Flicker was an excellent professor. Really cares a lot of his students and wants them to be successful. His grading scale ensures that you will most likely pass as long as you are willing to put in the effort. One of my favorite professors I have had at USC and I would recommend him to anyone.
Flicker is the best professor I have had at USC. If you have the chance to take him DO IT!!!! He adds humor into his lectures to keep them engaging and gives a 5 minute break in class for you to regather your thoughts. The content of the course can be difficult but if you show up and use his practice exams and HW you will get an A.
He made class fun&made you want to be there. Splits the class time in half&gives a 5 min break in between. Really wants you to learn&to not to worry too much about grades. Heavily curved all the exams, online homework frequently through Pearson, attendance is based on participation so you can miss a few extra classes as long as you participate.
If you can take Mr. Flicker, do it! He was one of my favorite professors and cares so much about his students succeeding. The material is hard but he teaches it well and curves test grades to make sure students care more about learning than grades. He made lectures fun and gave a 5 minute break. I would recommend him to everyone!
This class is a difficult class but Prof Flicker makes it manageable. Curves all tests and will work with you if you put in the effort. Not an easy A but if you study and put in the work it it possible. Would definitely recommend.
Highly Recommend Professor Flicker. The class is not easy but Flicker covers the material in detail & takes time to answer questions. He is willing to work with you if you do poorly but you have to put in the work yourself. Super caring & understanding. Overall an amazing professor & defiantly will take him again!
Overall amazing professor. He's young, very knowledgable and cares a lot about his students and wants you to be successful. he listens to students and tries to be as fair and helpful as possible. Tests are curved A LOT. as long as you take the notes and understand the concepts you'll get an A. LOVED him
A very amusing professor who is knowledgable. His excel skills are insane, do learn from him or even ask for details proactively. Definitely one of the best tutor I have met.
Professor Flicker is new to USC but he is one of the best professors I have had in the business school. Cares about each student and teaches you lessons that are valuable outside from the material.
He is a solid professor. Everyone in my class did very bad on the first test so he switched up his teaching style and really made sure we understood the material before moving on. We all did much better on the second test. He is also accessible outside of class. Attendance isnt mandatory but he does do "pop-quizzes" in some classes
Solid choice. Outright said he purposely made the first exam hard, but it was kinda funny. Hes just a goofy guy you cant even be mad at him. Put in the work, listen to the lectures (theyre recorded if you miss), and youll be fine. Hes there to help if you need him. 2 exams plus final, easy enough online HW every week.
Professor Flicker is one of the best professors I've had. He's very knowledgeable and willing to work with his students. His exams are hard but they're curved and he goes over the material during review sessions. I would not hesitate to take him again.
I love Professor Flicker. He really cares about his students and was the sole reason I decided to further pursue supply chain. TAKE HIM!!!!!
I hated MGSC 291 and worried about MGSC 395. However, Flicker was a breath of fresh air. He was a great teacher in lectures and his hw was super helpful in studying. His tests are hard and he tell you they are. However, he curves and if you actually study the curve gets you A's on tests. Best class I have taken in Darla! Would def take again!
He is a great professor even though he gives hard tests. Had him for an online class and he still managed to create a good class and gave many of different approaches to understand each topic. Very good professor would absolutely recommend.
One of the best professors I have taken so far. He really gets it and tries his best to help students as much as possible. His tests are not easy and you need to apply yourself. It was not an easy class, but the lectures were interesting. I think this class in general is challenging so take him if you want to be successful.
If you are required to take 395 you need to take it with Professor Flicker. He actually cares about his students/our grades. He curves the exams so as long as you at least try in the class you should get a decent grade. Makes lectures easy to understand and hes funny. Not much homework and 1st exam is basically a given 100 too. 10/10 recommend.
Super nice, understanding and accommodating. I am awful at this class but this professor makes it worth and assured us school is the end all be all. I would take him forever if I could. Hes not hard on the eyes either so he keeps your attention even without exciting materials.
Mr. Flicker is one of my favorite teachers I've had at USC. Although the class is very lecture heavy, he keeps you interested the whole time with humor and personality. He cares a lot about the success of his students and wants to make sure you're happy in the class. If I could, I would take him again in an instant.
If you dont get the chance to take Professor Flicker in your time at USC, you are missing out. He is one of the best professors I have ever had. He is kind, caring, understanding, and flexible especially with deadlines/due dates. He cares about the real needs of students. He memorizes your face/name and personalizes the class. TAKE HIM MGSC 393
really cares a lot about his students beyond just academics. such an interesting guy and tries his best to make operations management, a boring subject, as interesting as possible. one of my favorite professors so far!
Great professor. Online homework due before each of the 3 exams. Exams are all online on lockdown but aren't too bad if you go to class and take notes. Favorite professor all year.
Professor Flicker has been my favorite professor I have had. He is SO caring and really wants the best for his students. The material is pretty dry, but he does a great job connecting it to the real world which makes the class bearable. Tests are tough, but fair. He is a wonderful person and great professor. I would 100% recommend him!
Prof Flicker is one of my favorite professors Ive had. The class material is pretty bland but he does a good job trying to make it interesting. The exams are a little more difficult then typical exams because he focuses on application of the concepts and not memorization. Highly recommend him as a professor.
Professor Flicker is a really good teacher and really values his students' input and feedback. He's always up for making changes and is very responsive. He brought his kid to class one time and he makes it fun! Tests are pretty hard, so showing up and paying attention in class is necessary for a good grade. Not that much hw, no assignments.
I took prof. Flicker on my exchange semester. Incredibly kind and supportive. He wants all students to do well but still expects students to learn. Probably an easy A for many. Very open to student feedback, almost a bit too 'soft'. But incredibly humble and even took the time to talk about important issues and focuses on life-long learning.
Prof. Flicker does a great job of teaching a very boring subject. Despite his best, the course is still very boring, but that is in no part his fault. He does a great job of trying to make his lectures more accessible and interesting. Sometimes it does feel like he is unnecessarily drawing things out, but maybe he's being thorough.
Professor Flicker is a nice teacher and cares about his students. His lectures are sometimes boring but he tries to make them interesting. The class is not very challenging and the lectures are long because he keeps explaining something students understand. Its really kind but sometimes boring. He also does stretch breaks in class which are great.
The course content is very boring, but he does an excellent job of making it manageable. If you go to class, do the homework, and review a tiny bit before the exams you will get an A. I wish he taught more courses because I would 100% take him again. He really does care about his students.
Best professor to reach out to out of class. Wants all students to succeed and will do everything necessary to help students reach their goals in and out of class. The class is challenging due to the exams, but homework is very close to the exams. If you do not study, you will fail, at least study for 2-3 hours and an A is attainable.
Blair is such an awesome teacher. He is very thorough with his lectures and provides real world examples that make the class very interesting to attend everyday. He has breaks in each class and cares a lot about his students well-being and success in the course. I wish I could take another one of his classes!
perfect professor, made me change my major to opman because he's so good. take him for all classes you can.
Solid prof
Professor Flicker is the best option to learn valuable things in MGSC 395. Incredibly clear about difficulty of class but prepares students for every exam and assignment. If you put in the work you will get a good grade. He wants to see his students do well. Easily the most impactful professor I have had at USC so far. If he's available take him.
Professor Flicker is the kind of teacher you want to be friends with. Tries to make classes relatable/understandable. The content in this class is so boring and he tries his best to make it as painless as possible. Very difficult exams so be prepared to study, but he curves! Prob the best professor for this class.
Best professor I have had at Darla. Exams are tough but he teaches you what you need to know for the exam and has a review before the exam that will basically tell you what the exam is on.
Professor Flicker is extremely laid back and a great professor. His class is hard, but that has to do with the material and not him. He loves using real life examples which can lead to him getting off track a bit, so if you want a professor that is just going to tell you what you need to know for the exams, then Professor Flicker is not for you.
Most caring and understanding professor ever. Holds attention in class. Not everyone may appreciate how he explains a concept in depth for a long period of time, even when you may already get the point. Is great with real-world application. Always helpful. Tests are a bit difficult, but he curves them. ALWAYS do homework these will help your grade.
Professor Flicker is a genuinely nice person, always willing to help you with hw problems and exams preparation. IDK for some people his lecture is kinda boring, but I think it is interesting as he always tries to put real life example into his lecture. His exams are challenging though. Overall he is a great professor and I recommend taking him.
This Professor genuinely cares about your education and will work with you to succeed in his class if you respect him and attend class. I, unfortunately, had to take this course twice because I failed the first time, and let me tell you his version of this class was 1000% better compared to my last professor.
Professor Flicker is one of the best professors I have ever had. He is very knowledgeable in his field and very passionate about it. He provides real-world examples and connects them to the lectures, making it a lot easier to understand the topics. He does give out complex tests, but if you study for a couple of hours, you should be fine.
Professor Flicker is easily one of the best professors I've taken at DMSB. A huge breath of fresh air after taking MGSC 291. His emphasis on topics that he believes hold the most practicality in the operations industry paired with his philosophies on teaching itself proves he has the intangibles that most professors don't seem to have.
Favorite professor by far. Cares about the material, students, and class environment. Learned all of our names. Very funny and lectures were boring but he made them enjoyable. Loved this class so much I changed my major to operations management. Tests are hard but he prepares you well for it. Take blair flicker if you plan on actually learning tho
Great guy and does truly care but in my opinion he is sometimes terrible at explaining things. You have to do a lot of your own practice in this class because the HW is only about 2 questions per chapter and nothing like the tests he writes himself and literally says he makes them hard on purpose. Needs more examples and less boring rambling.
He made a very difficult exam less stressful. Lectures aren't as bad as we do a exercise as a class together and he gives us a 5 minute break every lecture. He writes his exams his self which are extremely difficult. He curves a lot of your grades as well. Exams are through lockdown browser.
Professor Blair was my favorite professor of the semester. His homework can be challenging but he gives you a lot of time to do it and is always available to answer questions after class and over email. He makes all of his exams and says that they are hard but I found them fairly intuitive. As long as you pay attention he makes it easy to succeed.
Professor Flicker is one of the best professors I have ever had. He knows the content of his class is boring and difficult and he tries to make class more entertaining. He truly cares about his students and he is flexible about homework deadlines and will cancel some classes. He holds helpful review sessions before exams too.
Great guy and makes it easy to learn if you put in the effort
Professor Flicker is AWESOME! He cares for his students wellbeing. The class itself is difficult at times, but he is very willing to help. He purposefully makes exams hard, but not impossible. He sometimes curves grades. Grades are: 10% attendance, 20% homework, 20% each Exam 1,2&3 and 10% Exam 0. Honestly my favorite professor at USC.
He is a very funny guy, and upfront about his reviews on here...he isn't looking to fail anyone but he definitely challenges you. His exams are not based on lectures or study guides, but it is possible if you put in the effort outside the classroom. Curves the exams, HW is 1-2 questions, and makes lectures interesting.
Professor Flicker was awesome this Fall semester. He explained things well in class and would explain it in multiple ways if a student didn't understand. He truly cares about his students and makes sure that each student understands that. Take him if you can because he provides insight into the real world but also prepares you for his tests.
One of my favorite classes I have ever taken. Professor Flicker is the most genuine person you could ever ask for. I cannot recommend him for any class he teaches enough. Material is somewhat tough but if you go to class you will get an A. Class is fun and his stories make class easy to go to.
Blair made the class a lot more fun and interesting with his stories and teaching style. He is a bit eccentric, but nonetheless, he always wants what is best for his students. Although he doesn't give reviews, go to office hours, he will help you walk through every type of problem that will be on the test. Definitely take him. Life is awesome
Great teacher, highly recommend
Professor Flicker's class was very engaging and interesting. The tests are a little tricky but if you pay attention in class they're not that bad.
One of the best teachers at USC. He cares about his students and wants everybody to do well
Take this guy at all costs. Can't recommend him enough.
He's super passionate about the source material and tries to make class super enjoyable, even though its a very base level supply chain class. The lecture notes are really long, so the important material can be scattered throughout it (A ton of the slides are examples that he slides through in class). Exams can be hard, study hard, but doable.
One of my favorite teachers I've ever had. Learned a lot and did well in the class. He cares and is always willing to help.
Take Professor Flicker. Promise you won't regret it. Most amazing classroom experience I've had in college so far. Cares about every single one of his students. Sometimes the lectures can be a little boring, but that's because the material isn't the most engaging. He does a great job at making the boring stuff interesting.
Professor Flicker showed true care and intention in all of his lectures. While his lectures may not have been always on topic, he still managed to teach the material well and keep it entertaining! Easy to reach out to as well!
Professor Flicker is an incredible professor. Caring and clearly cares about students' well-being. Does not provide study guides, yet still offers ways to succeed on the exams. Would definitely recommend this course. Makes it relevant for non-supply chain majors by providing real-world examples in lectures. Go to office hours.
Great professor overall. Would 100% recommend him to everyone. Unmatched in the energy he brings to class everyday
i really liked his class and enjoyed his lectures. most hw took me less than 20 mins, only two of them took me over an hour. his exams are difficult especially if you don't study. but as long as you go to class, pay attention, do the homework, and study WITH THE HOMEWORK you will do great! very nice and funny 10/10 recommend
I was originally nervous about taking this course because of all of the comments saying the exams were hard. However, the exams were not hard at all. They were extremely similar to the lecture slides and homework. He also created his own AI tool this year that helps you study. He's overall a really nice guy, and it's a very manageable class.
He enjoys teaching and keeps the class engaged. I would get lost on where to study sometimes. But he is willing to meet outside of class which is helpful.
We get a 5 minute break in the middle of class which is really nice. Great professor and does his best to keep the class fun and engaged! Not a hard class, getting an A doesn't require that much work.
Take him. He's funny and he's lectures are never boring. Exams are in person and as long as you pay attention in class and take some time out of your day to study you'll do fine.
He is a great professor and I would definitely recommend him for MGSC395. You will do well in the course IF you make an effort outside of class. Use the homeworks to prepare for exams, and utilize his AI programs. Go to his office hours and meet with him, and he won't let you fail. His exams are not easy, put in lots of work to prepare.
Go to class, pay attention to ldctures
The very best
Phenomenal professor, engaging lectures that involved fantastic real world examples making the content much more digestible. Exams can be tough but very doable with proper preparation. He wants his students to succeed and it really shows. 10/10 professor overall.
I loved learning in Blair's class so much! The content can be unengaging, so Blair really made it fun to be in class with the examples and stories and analogies. It was very rewarding being a student in this class because I felt like my study efforts had concrete proof of success! Being in class is fun! The tests are most similar to the homework!!!
I would highly recommend taking Professor Blairs class, the guys super nice and teaches in a solid way. Easy A if you study for the exams, lecture slides and HW spell it out. Only problem is that it is mandatory attendance and if you miss more then 2 classes your grades ACTUALLY gets impacted. (Don't take in the mornings)
Great professor who truly cares about student success. He's super likeable and makes class enjoyable, plus he gives a 5-minute break. Exams can be tough, but the homework, slides, and AI study tool make studying much easier. Attendance is strict, but he sometimes lets you attend other sections. Highly recommend!
He's a really nice professor who genuinely cares about his students, but the lectures can be boring he clearly puts in effort to make them interesting. The exams are very math-heavy. There are three exams with 20 questions each, and they're manageable if you consistently practice the homework. Go to his office hours for help. I would take it!!
Never have written a review except for this professor. Tries to make lectures engaging and connects students into lectures by referencing relatable things. One of the best professors I've ever had due to the clarity he provides on the what the course entails and how caring he is for each student. Super funny too. Definitely recommend taking him.
Blair is great! His class wasn't that hard, it's basically graded by 3 exams, homework, and attendance. There is only one unexcused absence so be mindful of that. Otherwise the class was fine, his lecture style wasn't for me but I was able to teach myself the material through the homework and slides. Probably the best professor for this class!
Blair is a very easygoing professor who will make your time in class enjoyable. His section is absolutely a little less structurally sound than the other 395 professors (meaning you will have to teach yourself a few of the methods) but it is not hard. No textbooks and an amazing human being behind the podium.
