This man is freaking hilarious and is one of the best lecturers. He makes History so much more fun to learn! He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities to boost your grade. Just do your work and study for his tests, which are not that hard if you prepare before hand. I would definitely take him again in a heartbeat!!!
Blake Ellis is a wonderful professor! By far my favorite. He's understanding, grades easy, and is passionate about history. My advice is go to class, study the lectures, and participate. Reading the chapters before class will only better your understanding! (Plus he threatens with pop quizzes if he feels the class isn't participating)
Dr. Ellis is a great professor! He is very funny and always has amazing history lectures. Just study the note during the class then you will definitely get an A in this class!
Professor Ellis is one of the best professors I have taken. He makes you feel comfortable from the first day of class but he can also pick on you(just for fun). He is very serious and gives great information when he starts lecturing. He grades very fast. Will tell you exactly what to expect in his exam. In a nutshell, a great professor.
fun class
If you're a sensitive guy this isn't the teacher for you, he often jokes with students by calling out. He's a professor that actually has a snap chat, rare sight. Overall great lecturer and he's flexible as well. IF you show up you'll not pass because none of the notes are online but class is fun so it's worth it. Test are average in difficulty.
Professor Ellis is by my favorite professor I've taken so far. If you don't take him, you are out of your mind. SHOW UP to class everyday and you'll be fine. Two Exams and a Final exam, 1 research paper, and ZERO homework.
Professor Ellis is by far the BEST professor I had for my first semester. Highly recommend taking him. Show up everyday and participate in class and you'll be fine. 2 easy exams, one research essay and the final. Loved this class!
Okay, here's the thing, I graduated last year from Lone Star College, and I'm here just because of how grateful I am to this professor. Dr. Blake is simply the most BRILLIANT and KIND person I know! Take his class with an open mind and ready to work, and I promise you- you'll learn to love history as much as I did!
I took Dr. Ellis' 3 week May minimester and I loved him! He's very passionate and knowledgeable about history. He also makes it very clear how to achieve your desired grade in the class. Only 2 tests, 10 "take home assignments", and one paper. 25% of your grade is just from coming to class and taking the pop quizzes or showing up on time.
Take this teacher even if you've never been interested in history or think it's hard. He will change that for you! Amazing teacher that opened my eyes about this country and the reality of incomplete freedom we live in. He is really nice and understands the anxiety students experience, don't be scared. He's worth it, I promise. One of the best prof
I am not from United States, but this professor helped me understand American history. He has books which were cheap, but you can read them online if you want. It was an easy class for me
He is a smart man! Take him if you wanna get a lit education on history and see a total hottie
Professor Ellis was awesome! Never saw him because it was an online class but I love the way he formats it. He opens up all the assignments in the beginning of the semester along with due dates so you can do it all on your own time. Definitely recommend him for online courses!
Super easy class. I took it online. All the answers are online, didn't need the book. Learned a lot from him. Take him!
I took the online summer course and it was great because he opened all assignments (including mid- term & final) so that you could work at your own pace. Required 4 books. 2 were for an essay, 1 for quizzes/tests, and 1 for the discussion boards. Very clear expectations and grading criteria.
Take this class you wouldn't regret it. I took it online. He opened everything on the first day and let you work at your own pace. All the answers are online. It was a very easy class for me. I didn't put much effort.
Best online class ever taken. All quizzes and assignments are open throughout the entire course so you can work at your own pace. Quizzes are by far so easy (10 questions, 2 hours). I passed the class with a 98 and the teacher is really outgoing and understanding, couldnt recommend a better professor!
One of the best online classes I have taken, Professor Ellis opens up the entire course for you to work at your own pace which was a huge benefit for me. Take this class, you won't regret it. Discussions, quizzes (with more than enough time to complete 10 questions), 2 papers, midterm, and final.
I would certainly take Dr. Ellis's class again if I could. He opens every assignment on the first day of class, so as long as you submit assignments by the set due dates you can work at your own pace.
Currently taking his class and will proceed to take 1302. Amazing prof, opens everything the first day of class. I love that you work at your own pace, most quiz/ tests answers are found online. Be aware he does have short answer portions sometimes, but those are fairly easy and can be found online as well.
Pretty easy class, enjoyed working at my own pace since he opened all the assignments for the full semester from the beginning. Though beware of due dates. I missed one exam because I did not see it under the quizzes tab (where all the other exams were located) and when I emailed him he never responded. Easy grade just an unreliable professor.
Easy A, opens the whole course on the first day of class which is nice because you can finish everything very quickly. Beware of due dates, however. Three exams that consist of both multiple choice and short answer questions. Thought piece over two books but was still easy to complete. Take him!!!
I took HIST 1302 and it was a very easy course. He opens all assignments the first day so you can finish it with it 1-2 weeks, if you put the work to do so. I'm taking HIST 1301 with him during spring 2020. He is great and you would learn a lot about History. Easy "A"!
5 discussion posts(you need the book), 1 essay paper(questions from 2 different books),15 quizzes (quiz/let;)(one limited attempt), 3 exams; first exam(part 1multiple choices, part 2 two essay questions) secn exam(two essay questionseach question has 4+ questions)third exam(multiple choices, essay questions). On the first day, he opens everythi.
5 discussion posts(you need the book), 1 essay paper(questions from 2 different books), 3 exams; 1st exam(part1multiple choices, part22 essay questions) 2nd exam(2 essay questionseach quest has 4+ questions) 3rd exam(same as 1st exam). 15 quizzes (one attempt/quizlet;). Multiple choices (quizlet) essay questions (google it).
The best professor ever! I took this class online for 1301 and 1302. Everything is open on the first day. Mini quizzes (can be found via quizlet), discussion posts (have the books), 1 essay super easy and a few tests, midterm and final (all easy). He answers every question you have and is overall the best! TAKE HIM!!!
I really liked this professor. The quizzes were exactly like the exams and he wasn't a very hard grader. I think this class is an easy A if you put in the effort.
Stop looking further. Took this as an online class for the fall semester. The easiest class. If you're looking for a handed A, and just need this for credit, take this professor. ALL quizzes on quizlet, all multiple choice sections on exams are on quizlet, essay sections on exams can be found online as well. Super easy, really recommend!!
I have taken 1301 & 1302 and both got an A. Took it online & he has everything opened on day 1, so you can work ahead & finish early. It consisted of quizzes, 3 exams (2 of them was multiple choice/ 1 short essay and 1 was 2 short essays), 5 discussion posts & 1 paper by reading 2 books (roughly about 4 pages, but goes by word count). Super easy!
lots of assignments and essays are hard (required to do 2 in the exam within 1 hr and 30 min) + One long book review (1000 words).
Took the class as the 3-week minimester. Super easy class since he opens everything up on the first day. However, he doesn't communicate with the class and takes forever to respond emails. Also many things in the syllabus says that more information will be given later on but he never did, so you are kind of left guessing. But he's an easy grader.
I took Professor Blake Ellis's 8-week course. What I can say is expect to read the textbook material, and have a keen understanding of US History topics. He is very considerate when it comes to responding back, and he gets back within a reasonable time. I really enjoyed taking his class online; lecture notes were very helpful and amusing.
I took this class in a mini it was pretty easy. There is a book to read and a 1000-word essay over it. There were 3 exams multiple choice and 2 had an essay question. This class is very doable. Prof. Ellis opens everything up in the beginning so work pace but make sure you turn in things on time. Only complaint he doesn't answer questions .
His class requires a lot of effort in writing because there are 2 thought pieces covering two different books, 3 exams (exam #1 - multiple choice/essay, exam #2 - essay, and final exam - multiple choice/essay), and 14 chapter quizzes with one free point. For multiple-choice exams and quizzes, you can use Quizlet to find most of the answers.
Decent Professor! Took him for Summer 2022 and his class was extremely easy, not time consuming at all. I got an A+ TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT AN EASY CLASS TO PASS FOR A CREDIT!
Fair warning, the entire course will be self-taught, read the textbook (which reads like a regular book imo), take a quiz (14 in total), and a test (3 in total). There is no supplemental material at all, with the exception of two additional books you will write reports over. He responds to questions within 2-3 days and most things are due at 10am.
This class was pretty straightforward, with all of the assignments open at the beginning of the semester. He does not communicate with the class at all or post any lectures so ur on ur own. Everything is open book, no lockdown or webcam. 14 quizzes, 2 book essays, and 3 exams, you can finesse your way through and get a good grade.
Finished the class. 3 week mini-mester One of the easiest and most flexible class I've ever taken at Lone Star. Go ahead and take it and listen to the reviews!
At least for the online course I took, Prof Ellis just grades the assignments. Emailing him for anything rarely gets a response. If you actually want to learn, find a different professor. If you just want the credits, take Prof Ellis, but there are quite a few essays... about 3, one of them being an exam grade.
All assignments open at the beginning of the semester and its truly at ur own pace. He does not communicate with the class at all or post any lectures so getting a response takes a bit. Everything is open book, no lockdown or webcam. 14 quizzes, 2 book essays, and 3 exams, you can finesse your way through and get a good grade though.
Professor Ellis is a really chill professor. He responds to emails reasonably fast. He isn't super picky with grading as long as you actually meet all of the requirements. Reach out to him if you are confused, he will help. This HIST class is a self-paced online class, so he isn't really teaching anything, but he provides good support when needed.
This class was VERY easy. By very easy I mean he's an easy grader plus the exams and quizzes are open note. Still don't know my final grade but will update when I receive it. There are 3 exams, 14-15 quizzes, a thought piece, and 5 discussion posts. I would 10/10 take him again if I could.
I took Dr.Ellis for a winter mini-mester course and I definitely recommend them. While the textbook was used throughout the course, the textbook is online, (and if you're having problems with some questions, quizlet is very helpful).
Class is super easy, grades easy, took him minimester, all quizzes on quizlet, 2 essays are easy, would reccoment him for all classes, easy to manage time over the minimester, did many things and easily managed an A in the class.
Professor Ellis runs a straightforward class - the quizzes match the exams, and with some textbook reading, it's an easy A. unstuck ai was super helpful for quick review and practice. Definitely recommend for an online credit.
3 week mini session. Everything was available on the first day, class is pretty much self-taught. He uploaded reviews for each chapter except for the last 3, which was extremely helpful for me. Pretty easy to manage the course load. Writing assignments were simple, and exams were very similar to the quizzes. An easy A if you put in the effort.
This professor has a “set it and forget it” approach. No engagement. He doesn't bother giving any feedback on essays. You cannot get clarification because he is horrible at communicating. Incredibly difficult to work with. The worst professors aren't necessarily tough graders, but rather those who show no commitment to his job or to his students.
Great Teacher. One essay. One discussion. 28 quiz. He opens all of them when class starts so u have a lot of time for assignments.
bumped up my grade without doing a thing, and gives few assignments, everything in the course is due during october and december very light work, spent maybe 4 hours max on this whole course, great professor.
