Prof Stephens is so great! He really knows what he is teaching and has years of knowledge in his field. Probably one of the best teachers at Saddleback. Take him! If you can get in, that is.

Amazing teacher! Knowledgeable and clearly loves what he does, brings so much of the cultural spirit of the builders into the architecture - weekly sketching quizzes, easy projects, lots of insight into the material and history - awesome, fun class. Even if History of Architecture sounds boring at first, he'll convince you otherwise; you'll love it

Prof. Stephens surely knows and loves his line of work. However, the lecture protion of the class is at best boring and tedious. Lectures include slide shows of various buildings-different places/times in history. After lecture, he has you draw a sketch a building. Great instructor, a wealth of knowledge if you want to be an architect.

Nice teacher and a rather easy class. THe lectures are slow and seem to take forever and the movies hold no ones interests att all but the sketches at the end of the class are rather fun to do and he is an easy grader. 3 big assignments in the class all easy just takes alot of time.

Stephens' class is really informative, he wants you to look at things from the perspective of a business person and professional. encourages people to look past the minimum code requirements and cover your ass as a professional. Professor Stephens is the best teacher ever!! I got a 153/100 in his class AND i didn't even finish our final project. He is very understanding and you don't have to go to his class everyday, just make sure you get the notes from your neighbor if you do miss. He is absolutely amazing!!

Funny teacher! Really makes the class enjoyable! His class is really easy, too. 2 powerpoint projects are easy A's as long as you do what he asks, no midterms! This guy really has a sense of humor. Very easy grader! Just do the work, and you are sure to get an easy A. Rarely is the book used, except for 1 project. Enjoyed his class! Recommended!

Wow what a great professor. He really wants you to get the point of the class and has an uncomplicated way of presenting it. Tells great stories that make me laugh, never want to miss class. Really likes teaching, it's obvious, and likes his students. the work isn't too hard but makes you think. respects you but don't try to get away with stuff.

This is a great class, took it during the 8 week summer session and got an easy A. MR. Stephens is very helpful and really enjoys what he does and it shows. NO MID-TERM and easy final as long as you put a little study time in. Only 2 Power Point projects and 100pts extra credit available. RECCOMEND THIS CLASS.

Really easy class! Show up, watch the movie or movies, listen to his power point lecture, and take a quiz at the end of class is all we did every day. For the quiz all you have to do is draw a picture of the building he gives you a picture of and he grades EXTREMELY lenient on it. Hardest part of this class is staying awake! Lots of people snoring.

Very nice guy. If you want to learn he will teach you a lot. If you are there only because you need to take the class, he won't be a pain. Do the work and most likely you will get an A. Def. take him!

Amazing class on sustainability of designing buildings and a lot more. Prof led discussions that opened everyone's eyes about resources, solar power, energy, society, and the future. Explains the LEED system. Take it!

By far one of my favorite classes I have ever taken. From the small inside jokes that he makes to drawings after every class, he was a great professor! Looked forward to making it to class every day!

Blake is by far the most helpful teacher I've ever had throughout college. He knows his stuff, has good stories and a great sense of humor. He has helped me in and out of the classroom. I definitely considor him more of a mentor than just a teacher.

Blake is probably my favorite teacher I've had at SB. Show up to the class, quizzes are you just building photos you have to draw at the end of class-try hard and youll get a 9 or 10. He gives extra credit, tons of clues for tests and is very passionate & funny. Fun class

Amazing class! One of my favorite classes and Professor Stephens gives great lectures. This class really made an impression on me as the lectures were engaging and the daily videos were interesting.

History of architecture is a really easy class and if you pay attention you will learn a lot. The class consists of a video and lecture everyday, followed by a sketch which is considered a quiz. You won't need the book, I didn't use it once and still received a very high A. Great Professor!

Best class I took this summer!

Great professor, great class. Really loved it because he wasn't so concerned with you memorizing the dates or architects of buildings, but instead focused on giving students the tools to appreciate the architecture all around them. Also fun sketch quizzes!

Blake Stephens is easily the greatest teacher to ever grace the halls of Saddleback College. If you can't pass his Architecture class, there is something seriously wrong with you. Let's just say if I was ever going to get into a fight and needed back up, I would choose Prof. Stephens over Chuck Norris any day. He's the real deal

I took him my first semester ever at Saddleback. I had him on Wednesdays from 12-3. We only watched movies that had any type of association to architecture. There was a midterm and a final, both were powerpoints of a building that we had to name and date. Every slide came with painfully obvious hints. Daily sketch quizzes. SO EASY! Got on easy A!

One of the best professors I've ever had. Even though he goes on long tangents that lead nowhere every once in a while, he knows what he is talking about. Helped me figure out how to draft is short amount of time, and recommended some choices for my career. If you ever feel like you want to ask him a question, he will be more than happy to answer.

Prof. Stephens is by far one of the best prof. I have ever had in college. He really cares about his students and will work with you. His lectures are interesting and his teaching methods are one of a kind. This class, along with prof. Stephens will have you calling out architectural styles by the end of the class. You really do learn a lot.

This prof is HILARIOUS and i mean it. I had him at 8 in the mornings and he definitely made my day. As an architect, he definitely knows what looks good in buildings. He knows his styles. The tests are a breeze, they have a ton of hints and some choices are so wrong that it narrows down to like two choices out of five. I really enjoyed his teaching

I walked into Mr. Stephen's class not knowing anything about Architecture and finished the semester seriously considering making it my major. His passion for the subject leaks into every aspect of the class and the lectures. He's a super easy grader, and a funny, engaging prof. Highly, highly reccomend any of his classes.

Take this class. The chairs are uncomfortable but I really found this class to be pretty interesting and fun.

Prof Stephens is the best professor I've had at this college. It's obvious he loves what he does. Sense of humor and not too hard.

Mr. Stephens lectures and assignments were always fun. Which totally enhanced the learning experience. His demeanor is really easy going making things a heck of a lot smoother!

This class really helped me understand the importance of a culture that creates a sustainable environment. Great topics and current events in every class. Professor Stephens has made the class interesting at the same time he gets a lot of information across to us.

Professor. Stephens was a very good teacher, if you're taking the class because it's a GE credit he makes the class as entertaining as he can. We watched a lot of movies on architecture and took a quiz at the end of class where you had to draw something you learned in class that day. You have to be at every class to get these poitns.

Professor Stephens is a fun professor. His lectures are interesting, he's visited most of the famous structures he shows. He has a funny, and sometimes legally gray area story to go with each. He's cut and dry when it comes to grading and there were relatively few graded assignments, however he offers hints on exams and plenty of EC opportunities.

Professor Stephens will give you a new found appreciation for architecture. The content itself is not always interesting but with his clever quips and fascinating stories, Professor Stephens does a wonderful job of keeping everybody engaged and interested. The grading was very straightforward and it is easy to get an A by following the syllabus.

He is a really good architecture teacher. As an architect himself, he gives good stories about what to and not to do. He explains the projects fairly well. If you have questions he is always ready to answer them and help you fix your drafts. He gives you a lot of time to work on your projects in class. You don't need to show up for every class.

This is the funniest professor! He really shows his passion for architecture through his lectures. Every class has a quiz, and the quiz is only a drawing so its an easy pass. I would definitely recommend this professor!

Book not really used, but did read some of it, helps on the mid term and final. Bring pencil, sharpener, eraser, He passes out the papers. Attendance goes towards grade.

He's really knowledgable and you can always ask him for help. I messed up one of my drawings and he calmed me down and worked through it with me. I also went to his office hours and it turned into a talk about my life and career and gave me a ton of advice and emails of people to talk to. He does talk a lot and is very liberal but not a huge deal

Honestly the best college professor I've had so far! His class consists of long Architecture movies for the first half of the class and then very interesting lectures where he talks about the topic and his cool stories about the architecture projects he has been apart of. He's also super funny and gives great feedback. Be ready to draw every class!

One of the nicest professors I've ever had! He is very passionate about architecture and even if you're not an architect major, after taking his class you will have an appreciation for what he teaches. As long as you pay attention its easy to get an A. Quizzes consist of sketching a building you learn about that day. Very easy!100% recommend him!:)

One of the best courses I've taken to date! Prof. Stephens really understands that intro courses, in addition to encoding knowledge, should serve to spark an interest in the field-- in this case architecture. Although, it is a history of architecture class, there is an awesome fusion of art included; so if you take this course, be prepared to draw.

Eaasyyyyyyyy A. All you do is draw one sketch (not a hard grader) and then attend one zoom call a week. THAT'S IT! There are also some projects here and there but they are super easy and actually fun. Also, he gives you the answers to the midterm and final, just make sure you go to the zoom call so you can write it down. Best of luck!

This was one of the easiest classes Ive taken. You learn a lot and the professor is very laid back with the work. All we had were quizzes which were just to draw and get a hands on feel for architectural structures. He was a very sweet professor. I recommend to take him for architecture.

He is such a great professor! I took his hybrid class over the summer and it was easy but fun. The only homework was to do a quiz after class which is just drawing a sketch. Two projects were a vocabulary project (easy) and a research powerpoint project (decent). He gives the midterm and final answers in class the day before (so show up). Take him!

Took 8week summer class, easy, should take this class 8week long not 16week. Each week you do 2 quizzes which is sketching a specific historical structure. Throughout the class there are 2 projects but they're easy. He's a great, fun, and understanding professor. Learn a lot in his class. If you took AP art history then youll be familiar w/ stuff.

The Arch 14 California Architecture class was super informative. The case study house lecture and discussion of how earthquakes changed the cities were my favs. Great lectures and really nice prof made the class my favorite. Good for transfer too. Take him!

ARCH 262 Rmp wouldn't let me add that. The walking tours of downtown LA and Pasadena were amazing. A long day and lots of walking and I got so much out of his class. He's genuine and knows about nearly every building we passed. Probably my most fun class at saddleback. Just a sketch for each trip, not hard.

He is so passionate and makes architecture so much more fun and interesting than other professors. He has a great talent for getting students to look at things in a different way. It is so nice to have a professor that encourages you to dream big. I'm looking at LEED and the future in a whole new way. I would take any class I can with him.

Loved this class! Took it as a GE and learned so much. Workload is not heavy and REALLY interesting. Professor is a LOT of fun and makes the class very stress-free. Two exams, 14 drawings, 2 light projects. Extra credit available. Attendance mandatory - very reasonable considering you're SUPPOSED to go to class! Definitely recommend!

Homework was sketches of California architecture. Offers extra credit for effort exceeding expectations. Very interesting and lectures were clear and informative. It's apparent that he is passionate about architecture and cares about the future generation (and not in a pretentious way).

Professor Stephens is a great guy. I took his hybrid Arch14 class. Only complaint is that since the hybrid is only one day a week, the in person class is over 2 hours and is quite boring with minimal participation ability. But if you can get over that the class was good and he was very nice.

Prof Stephens is one of the most genuine and caring profs you will find at the school. I had little interest in Architecture when I took History of Arch with him and since then I've taken almost ever class he teaches. He is highly focused on student success and extremely conversational with his students. You won't find another professor like him.

Im wrapping up my second and final year at Saddleback, and Professor Stephens is one of the best professors I have ever had. It was a privilege to take two of his courses in the summer and fall semesters. He has some of the coolest stories about his career as an architect, and I could not recommend him enough!
