Mr. Blakey is a great teacher. He comes to class very prepared every day and gives very clear lessons on the content. However, this class is definitely not an easy A. It is not impossible to get an A, but you do have to work for it. Although it is a bit of a challenge, it is a very enjoyable class and teaches many interesting philosophical content.

Good professor who knows what he's talking about. Tough grader on tests and papers so you need to study and double check. Has papers, tests, and homework revolve around textbooks so you need them asap. Lectures can be boring but doable. Willing to help if you ask him. Gives study guides and clear guidelines for papers and tests. Highly recommended.

His class really got you to think about the questions we may take for granted. He gives great feedback on hw and goes by the due dates on the syllabus. The work that is assigned is normal for a college class. His lectures are not boring!!!!The tests are easy if you know the material and have studied before hand. Overall great class! Learned alot

Blakey is one of the few professors that cares about his students. He will let you know first day of class that he will only take attendance 3 times, however he also notes that missing one day of class will set you back. He is not lying. If you do the assigned readings, turn in all assignments, and come to class everyday you will pass.

He is a great professor! You really have to apply yourself. If you aren't paying attention, you won't get anything out of it. Lectures are fantastic, and engaging. Don't know if I passed or not because of not doing journals, but I'll take it again with him if I dont.

In the beginning of the class he requires 3 some-what cheap books. They are all necessary because he gives out easy homework of reading approximately 10-15 pages so you are prepared for the lectures. His lectures simplify the class and the reading, so just show up and write everything he writes down and study and you'll get a grade.

Blakey assigns a lot of reading, but everything he assigns is accessible and fundamental to the field. There's no unnecessary or boring work, and the class discussions make the class an amazing experience. Blakey is passionate, energetic, funny when he gets on a tangent, and overall a gifted prof. His love for the field is easy to share.

Professor Blakey is my favorite professor. He is intelligent, kind, and empathetic, but also serious in an understated sort of way. He models his classes around discussions, so in order to participate, you need to do the work. It was always interesting, so this was a good thing for me. He is also very gentle, but will question your beliefs.

He's a very nice teacher and he tries. He assigns reading every day, and the reading is the best part. It's the class discussions that are awful. Anytime we question anything, as philosophy is grounded on, he shoots it down. I love lecture discussions, but this was painful. His test are very hard, just write theories, no opinions or won't pass.

He is very good at walking students up to difficult concepts, so that when he outlines the actual arguments for each module of the course, it's easy to understand. He makes you read by asking you to do a little writing. Not much. He gives a couple of extra credit opportunities. Quizzes along the way, exams aren't terrible. Great teacher. Take him.

Prof. Blakey is an amazing teacher; I can't say enough good things about his teaching style and the way he guides the class. He is patient, concise, and really cares about each student who shows effort in his class. The homework is not difficult to manage, which is great. He gives ample notice if something is due. He really cares about his job.

I took Philosophy 101 as an 8 week course so it was a condensed version of his phil-101 class. It was super heavy on the reading and the class content is challenging but he understands that so he grades less harsh than some other professors are known to do as long as you put in the work. He gives great feedback on your assignments though. recommend

His critical thinking 206 class is tough. You will learn a lot but get ready to work. He's very particular about what he's asking for on tests. He gives incredible feedback and grades very quickly. I had to work hard to get a B. If you're a serious student take him but I would look elsewhere if you want an easy A.

I enjoyed this class his grading of work seems to reflect his moods that week. Always leaves comments usually condescending ones.Tells what you did wrong, lucky if you see a good job. About 4 assignments a week. You will have to watch the videos/read to pass this class. Agonizingly opens assignments every 2 days making it difficult to work ahead.

He's kinda chill, but is sometimes a tough grader. Lots of interesting topics in his class, most of them political but for a good reason. Watch his lecture videos, they'll really help. Tests and quizzes aren't too bad as long as you study. One big essay which he'll give you a head start on. One final, which isn't too bad if you studied.

I took his Intro to Philosophy class as an 8-week course. Philosophy as a whole for me was a little hard to understand and whenever I reached out to him for help he was always super understanding and helpful. His workload seemed very manageable for how short the class was and his grading was fair and he always provided good feedback.

I found Prof. Blakey great other than the fact that he really is a tough grader, especially in argument analyses for me. The material of the class was interesting and wasn't too difficult, around 3-4 assignments each week. I personally liked his criticisms and were helpful. As long as you put in effort, you'll be fine in this class!
