This guy is Attila the Hun
hard tests, mean-spirited
Complete jerk, lighten up!
At some point you will have to take him, too bad!
Loves to humiliate people.
A tough teacher, but knows what he is doing & willing to help
No Comments
Avoid his classes at all cost!
All acctg majors must take him. VERY intelligent. Reminds me of my CFO.
He's tough, but good. Wants you to think for yourself!

Lots of work. Be prepared to have MANY assignments and the tests are EXTREMELY hard.
Ok, he's short, stern, and reminds me of the hamburger helper glove when he raises his hands, but is different outside of class. You'll have worse in 322. Don't be intimidated. Have to work harder than humanly possible, but you learn to think critically.
Does not make class any easier. Watch out for trick questions!!
Acctg 321 is very hard. I was taking 4 other classes and I was studying more for Acctg than for all of the other ones combined. I got a C in Acctg and I got 2 As and 2 Bs in the other 4 classes. Good luck, you don't have a choice if your major is Acctg.
Tough, but a really good teacher. He wants you to understand the material.
Good luck with this one my future Acctg 321 students. You may as well move into the library due to all the studying you are going to do. You learn a lot, but the information is overwhelming at times.
CAPPETINI IS A VERY GOOD TEACHER. HE IS A BIT TOUGH, BUT HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT. IF YOU ARE AN ACCOUNTING MAJOR, YOU HAVE NO CHOICE BU TO TAKE HIS CLASS. DO NOT ASK STUPID QUESTIONS IN HIS CLASS. HE'LL MAKE YOU LOOK DUMB.
He's not a difficult teacher. Its the class in general that's tough. Prepare to read more than 50 chapters of accounting. The best thing is that you do almost everything in groups. In the end, you'll know soo much (thats if you can pass the cum. final)
BOB AS A TEACHER IS HORRIBLE! IN CLASS HE'LL DO CALCULATIONS, ON MIDTERMS HE EXPECTS SOMETHING DIFFERENT! DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO, YOU CAN DO ALL THE WORK AND STILL NOT PASS, NO CONSIDERATIONS WHAT SO EVER! ACCOUNTING MAJORS - GOODLUCK!
bob sux. if you are accouting major--good luck! make sure you participate and show up on time. never ask him for help cause he wont help you. his lectures suck. you will have more fun with will:-)
If you're a lazy student who wants to slide by, you'll won't like him. If you're a hard worker who wants to learn, you'll love him. An excellent teacher who cares beneath that supposedly gruff exterior.
very hard class however this is the easiest compared to the others you will be taking. have fun
very hard class that I have never had. Too much works to do, and you have to buy 4 books and 1 package to his class. you have to spend over $500 for books.
Bob is a good teacher who really wants you to understand the material. It's not his fault that there is a lot of material to cover in the course, and it is certainly not his fault if you're lazy. Be prepared to work like you never have before. Big helpful curve on the exams to boost grades
Future students---Two teachers-Bob and Will- they discriminate by placing the students with lower test results in the back of the class. Make sure to get a good grade on your 1st mid-term.
This class was torture.Expect to turn in assignments every class session. Also, make sure to carefully select what group you will be in (you will be working with them ALL semester). There are two exams and one brutal final. Stay above the mean and you should be ok. The mean for the final was a 45 :(
I was quite surprised! After reading all the previous comments, I dreaded this class. It was not that bad. The work load is heavy. If you are focused you will have plenty of time. Study for the test do not stress about them though. Do your best. Pick a good external group. Bob is not that bad.
Bob is not as bad as some of these reviews make him out to be. He knows what he's talking about, there's just a ton of material to cover. It's a really tough class, but what do you expect from an upper div acct course? Be prepared to work harder than you ever have before. Good luck!!
bob is great! ppl simply gives him bad ratings bc they are too lazy to study the materials. to do well you have to understand the concepts (rather than memorize). don't procrasinate. ask smart questions and participate (not to the pt where you become obnoxious). pick a smart grp to work and study w/
lots of work in this class, time consuming, i'm a lazy student, not that hard to get a C, but very hard to get above a C b/c need to do lots of reading and homework, if score average on everything will get a C in class easy
This class was hell. Tons of work. Bob is a very good teacher; he knows what he's talking about. However, he's tough and expect a lot from you. His exam questions are tricky. He like playing with your mind, especially on exams
"Welcome to the Jungle, there are no more fun and games" You have taken "Gozar" spawn of the hell beast! This is by far the hardest class at San Diego State. Dont work, dont sleep, say bye bye to your friends. Your ass belongs to Bob for 18 weeks. Best advice: dont miss more than 2 classes or else.
Bob is what we call accounting magic. One of the best professors here at SDSU. Dont be intimidated by him b/c he's not a credible accountant, he's just a person like you that studied accounting and now he's regurgitating it to you.
Bob is a great teacher because he motivates you to learn. The class is absolutely based on how much you put into it, and he motivates you to put in as much as possible, but not enough to where you feel it's impossible to succeed. He's really mastered the teaching plan for ACCTG 321 and really knows his stuff.
Bob is a great teacher- he gets a bad rap because will is so high energy that bob ends up being "bad cop" but he really WANTS you to learn and understand and likes top play devils advocate to pull the answers out of you. he does get tricky on exams, but his lectures are truly informative and he's an entertaining guy
Very clear about what is required. If you follow the format, do the work and go to class, it's an easy A. Nice guy who is interested in what he teaches.
Easy A my ***. Bob is a great teacher but I have never worked so hard for a B in my life. The workload is overwhelming and the exams are insane. Exams cover the material taught but twisted, to see if u really know what u r doing. There is so much information covered it's hard 2 know what 2 study. It's doable but you'll b glad when it's over.
He is a very passional accounting teacher. But I don't like his teaching style; I learn very little from him. He is very unpredicable in his exam. I perfer a hard core disciplene teacher than Bob.
It is tough/stressful. I recommend taking under 15 units, there's a ton of homework & group work, many late/sleepless nights to look forward to. Tests are tricky & hard, you never know what will end up on it, at least you get to use notes. Bob is nice when asking questions in class & doesn't make you feel stupid for asking. GOOD LUCK!!!
A good teacher but likes to throw curve balls when it comes exam time. Knows his stuff and teaches it well though but you can't escape being baffled come test time. Very mean when it comes to asking questions in class. If it's a dumb question he'll make sure the class knows it was dumb. Criticizes people on message board as well. Good luck in 321
This class was hell but I was warned before I took it. Bob is ok if he likes you. This class is not easy at all and there is way to much group work. You are likely to drop a whole letter grade after the final so try to have a good grade before you take it. Good Luck
lets set the record straight about Mr. Bob Cappetini. my friends and I took him the first semester in 1993 when we were guinea pigs for this crazy change. the itinerary does not work it does not take into consideration other classes, the cost of books is ridiculous, and the work load is crazy. he cannot communicate clearly and students do not learn
Good instructor but mean. The firs half of the semester he is even worse. So review managerial and financial accounting, and that will give you more chances with him. NEVER EVER MISS CLASS. The workload is exaggerated, so expect no social life for the entire semester. GOOD LUCK!!

So don't believe the person that said Bob is nice when you ask questions. That is 200% untrue. I have never had a teacher make me feel so stupid in my life. Bob is extremly unfriendly and enjoys making people feel dumb.
Pushes you to your limit but passing is possile. Expects 100% from his student. More focused on "delevoling your mind" then the details. Everything that you learn in his class is relavent and is probably going to be used once you are an accountant. The most inspiring and best class I have ever had but a nightmare for a whole semester.
This was THE most difficult class I have ever taken. Bob is really tough but passing this class is not impossible. Be prepared to work harder than ever before and probably for only a mediocre grade. This class was a complete horror and I am SO glad it's over but I definitely learned more than I have from any other class I've taken.
Bob is a good teacher it just the class is really hard. Both Bob and Will expect a lot for there students. I have never worked so hard for one class ever, if you are planning to work do not take that many other classes. I was working full time and had 16 units and the semeter could not have ended any quicker. Bob gets a hard rap but he's not bad.
Bob is a great teacher and really knows the material. He's not mean, he just expects students to ask intelligent questions and come to class prepared. The work is hard, but Bob really explains it well - it's up to you to take good notes and study appropriately for the exams (which are no joke!).
he is not very helpful and very disrespectuful. He is a jackass
This was by far the most difficult class I have ever taken. However, I have also never learned as much in one semester. Although Bob is tough, he is extremely knowledgeable in accounting and loves to teach. Just come to class prepared, participate, and you will be on his good side.
I think he has good intentions, he just doesn't know how to show them. He knows A LOT about the subject, he just has a difficult time conveying it in an interesting manor. He doesn't have much patience, and makes students feel stupid when they answer questions incorrectly. He makes a good balance with Will though to make a balanced class.
This is a very tough class. He comes off as a hard@$$ (especially in the begining of the semester), but he is actually quite helpful and approachable. I have literally never worked so hard or learned so much during one class. Do the work and volunteer in class, and he will like you.
Bob can be harsh but he was great to me because I came to class always prepared, on time, did the reading, and took good notes. Participate in all classes and find a good group which is essential. Interview them carefully and make sure your goals and schedules dont conflict because alot of work will be done in groups. Also, do all the reading.
This is the toughest course I have ever taken, but you will learn a lot if you work hard. Participation and getting into a good group are also very important (LOTS of group work). Bob knows a heck of a lot and is very approachable/helpful if you apply yourself. Beware of giving wrong answers. He can make people feel kind of dumb.
I think he may be writing his own comments because he HATES teaching and he is more than readyn to retire. He is absolutely unapproachable and dislike everybody.
A very tough class, but manageable. You just have to work your b*tts off. He presents real-life accounting cases. A good guy, though, not really great. Just get straight to the point when talking to him.
Bob is a tough guy, and he loves to crack jokes about attorneys. He explains the mechanics of a problem very well, but he doesn't explain the concepts behind them as well. Make sure you read before class and study your in-class notes right after class. You'll benefit from doing this in the end because you can have up to 25 CH to study per Exam.
Bob is the best. He seems intimidating, and sometimes his initial reaction to students' comments/questions are too honest, but thats just Bob. He's always willing to go over things you might not understand, but you have to take the time to approach him. Don't waste his time tho if your not on your game.
I took this class a few semesters ago but I think everyone deserves a fair warning. Bob is nothing but an unhappy jerk so he wants to make everyone else unhappy too. Be prepared to feel really bad about yourself 1-2 times a week for 2 1/2 hours. I honestly think it's his mission to make people feel as stupid as possible.
This was the hardest class I have ever taken. I just finished 421 and I can honestly tell you that 321 is the most demanding. 322 is almost worse just because the professors are horrible and the way they run the class is absolutely ridiculous. It makes no sense at all. 421 is SO MUCH better! HANG IN THERE!
Tons of work, tough class, about 30% of the people who took this class are retaking it. If you don't plan on putting in the effort you will not pass. Bob knows alot and tests problems seem random at times. But by doing all the reading and studying they are easy to pass. Got a C, felt like i earned a A or B+ but i learned a ton about accounting
Prepare to be treated much like a second grader. You are expected to make this class "your life" for the semester. Unrealistic for anyone with a normal load of responsibilities in life. One is graded on what other students think of you which is much like a high school popularity contest. Try to wait until summer to take class with Will Snyder inste
This guy is a complete jerk. I asked him for help in trying to get into an external group and he said it was my responsibility in getting into a group. I was 3 minutes late to class and he sent me a nasty e-mai about being late. I live in Escondido, and I got stuck in traffic for 30 minutes. He will accept no excuses, not even legitimate ones.
if you need to take this class, dont be too discouraged by the previous comments. This class is definately hard but you get used to it as the semester progresses. You do need to put in a lot of time but you will gain a lot of accounting knowledge in doing so. bob and will and both good teachers. its not that bad!
Go to every class, turn in every assignment on time, start the SUA early, read (or at least skim) all (or most) of the daily readings, type up your hand-written notes after every class, work on your exam notes after every class, and start studying for exams at least a week ahead. Hard class, lots of work. Just do it but don't make excuses to Bob.
Make sure this is really what you want to major in before you start this class. It will take over your life, be prepared to read 4-6 chapters a class, TONS of OUTSIDE group homework and individual hmwk. Dont take many other classes with this one, you wont have time for them... I never studied more in my life, and only passed with a C!
Not an easy class. There's a lot of reading, 3 chapters per class or so. However, the class will take over your life, if you don't let it, you will fail. I know several people that failed because they underestimated the exams and never read. So READ and manage your time in exams! Bob is a nice guy with a bad rep. DONT BE LATE, EVER.
I hate all those students that kiss teacher's butts. I was always on time. I never missed class. I always studied and ended with an A-. It was a really hard class, but Bob was a real jerk to me and also to random people (regardless on how smart and good student you were unless you were a butt kisser)As a teacher he was ok, but not great either :(
Has got to be the biggest jerk i've met in academia. He was yelling at people the first day, even this Chinese girl who could barely speak English and wanted to sit-in. Surprisingly, we never saw her again. Even from Day 1 people were commenting on Bob's "people skills." Ever miss class, expect a nice note of "concern" in your inbox the next day.
he is a very hard teacher. His exams are very hard. and his way of teaching is really poor. do not except an easy grade when it comes to taking him. i worked so hard and spend so much time studding and i don't even think i passed.
This is not an easy class by any standards. It is extremely time consuming. The concepts are very complicated and there are so many topics to cover. However, take very very very good notes in class. I felt that my class notes saved me. DO NOT MISS CLASS. Bob doesn't care who died, you better be there. Barely got by with a C and I love accounting!!
IDK if the class was hard, or it was just Bob. Pop Quizzes on the assigned readings. Tests are extremely difficult. DO NOT miss class, you will regret it- trust me. Put your all in this class and you'll manage decent grade. Say goodbye to parties and weekends and hello to all-nighters. This class is not a joke. Work hard. Work very hard. Good Luck
SUPER hard class. if you miss one class, it's hard to catch up. pay attention during class & take really good class notes. you can use 2 pgs front & back as a cheat sheet on tests, so TAKE REALLY GOOD CLASS NOTES. this will help you get a decent grade. avg on exams are 53/100. with the curve that's a C. though it's tough, don't quit! you can do it!
THE HARDEST class ever. 2-4 chapters of reading a week. TONS of group work. Nearly impossible exams. This class requires alot of work and dedication. You must be on top of the game in order to get by.
Goood
Difficult, but do-able. Learn to read quickly & effectively. He's not kidding when he says 30hrs/week outside of class. Bob is an EXCELLENT instructor. He expects u 2 work & can get frustrated w/lazy students. He really cares & is happy to help. Material is mostly not difficult, but the pace kills u. keep up/welcome to the business world!
Bob is a great professor, but he takes accounting very seriously. He is willing to help but make sure you come to class prepared because his portion of the exam is very tricky. Over and Under is a pain so watch out for it. Good luck in 321 because it is the most time consuming class.
Acct 321 is Intermed Acct and Federal Tax. CS Fullerton teaches this as 2 Inter Acct courses and 1 Fed Tax course. So actually this is a 9 unit course. There are no answers provided to problems. Classes is harder than it needs to be because you can't check your answers unless you want to wait to see a GA during GA's hours.
Just wanted to comment on the commenter below. This class from previous semesters of FOUR different subjects into only TWO - Financial Accounting and Tax. Notes and calculators aren't allowed for the exams, but it's ok since the material requried to remember! Just put in the TIME and PRACTICE - you'll pass! This class is VERY time consuming!!
incredible teacher, knows the subject extremely well. it IS mandatory to put in effort, but it is worth it. the class indirecly teaches you about WORK ETHIC. students these days dont have much of that kind of ethic anymore. bob and will are both amazing professors.
For all of you that are freaking out about taking bob for 321, don't worry your prayers have been answered. He is no longer teaching it, however this is still and extremly hard class. Don't overload yourself and think that you are a superstar and handle more than 12 units total for the semster. This is a hard class and time consuming for sure.no joke
Good teacher, but not super easy. Will expect you to read the text before class. Also expects you to know GAAP and IFRS.
This guy is too cute! I can't believe he won't be teaching anymore :( Definitely a really awesome guy to know.
